‘North-Facing Chair At The Dining Table’: Why Amitabh Bachchan Choses It

January 7, 2025, 3:13 pm

Amitabh Bachchan’s hosting of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) continues to captivate audiences, with the iconic actor sharing fascinating insights into his illustrious career and personal life. In the latest episode of KBC season 16, a contestant’s comment sparked a heartwarming conversation about Bachchan’s family dynamics, particularly his bond with his late father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

A Heartfelt Conversation About Family Dining Habits

During the episode, Kaushalendra Pratap Singh, a contestant from Dhanbad, Jharkhand, mentioned that he had read about the Bachchan family’s dining habits in one of Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s books. The contestant recalled how the poet had written about how the Bachchan family always dines together, with everyone sitting at the table facing North.

Kaushalendra further explained the spiritual significance of this seating arrangement, describing how sitting facing north is believed to bring truth. The contestant shared that, while he seeks truth in life, he wished Amitabh Bachchan a long life, or ayush. He also quoted Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s words in his book, where he had mentioned how he once expressed a desire to sit in Amitabh’s seat at the table facing north. In response, Amitabh had told him, “I don’t want a long life at the cost of truth.”

Amitabh Bachchan Opens Up About His Father’s Influence

Amitabh Bachchan confirmed the story and shared touching memories of his father’s teachings. Reflecting on his father’s influence, he explained, “My father would always say that I should have a long life, and that was enough for him.” The conversation not only shed light on Bachchan’s deep respect for his father but also highlighted the values of truth and family that continue to guide him.

A Humbling Experience from Amitabh Bachchan’s Past

In a previous episode of KBC, Amitabh Bachchan had shared another personal and amusing anecdote. He recalled a time when he was denied entry to an event, despite being the star performer. The humorous yet humbling incident provided a glimpse into the humility that has always been a part of Bachchan’s persona, even in the face of his immense fame.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati continues to be more than just a quiz show. Each episode brings viewers closer to the man behind the legend, offering unique insights into his values, family, and the lessons that have shaped his journey. The candid stories shared on the show make it a truly enriching experience for both fans and contestants alike.

Sonakshi Sinha Responds To Mukesh Khanna’s Criticism Over Ramayana Question

December 17, 2024, 10:07 am

Sonakshi Sinha has reacted to the criticism by Mukesh Khanna against her wrong response to a question related to Ramayana on Kaun Banega Crorepati 11 back in 2019. Sonakshi took to Instagram Stories to respond to the veteran actor’s comments, specifically on her father. She claimed that she had simply “blanked out” while shooting for that episode and humbly asked Mukesh Khanna to not bring up the incident at public forums “to get back in the news.”

She wrote, “Dear Sir, Mukesh Khanna ji…i recently read a statement you made saying that its my father’s fault I did not answer a question about the Ramayana correctly on a show which i attended many, many years back. Firstly, let me remind you that there were two women on the hot seat that day who didn’t know the answer to the same question, but you chose to keep taking my name and only my name for reasons which are quite obvious.” She further gave the example of Ramayana, quoting, “Yes i may have blanked out that day, a human tendency, and forgotten who the sanjeevani booti was brought for, but clearly you have also forgotten some of the lessons of forgive and forget taught by lord Ram himself… if lord Ram can forgive Manthara if he can forgive Kaikeyi…if he can even forgive Ravan after the great battle was done, surely you can let go of this extremely small thing in comparison…not that i need your forgiveness.”

Sonakshi added further that before commenting on the values that her father instilled in her, Mukesh Khanna should remember that it is those very values that have taught her to respond with respect, even when faced with distasteful remarks about her upbringing.

Mukesh Khanna, who had criticized Sonakshi Sinha earlier for not knowing the Ramayana, again did so in a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan. The legendary actor blamed Shatrughan Sinha, claiming he failed to teach Sonakshi the epic.

Why Did Ratan Tata Borrow Money From Amitabh Bachchan | Video

October 29, 2024, 4:54 pm

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has shared heartfelt memories of the late industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata, who passed away on October 9. In a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 16, featuring guests Farah Khan and Boman Irani, Bachchan spoke fondly of Tata, describing him as “such a simple human being” and reflecting on his remarkable character.

Memorable Encounters

One of the poignant stories recounted by Bachchan involved a flight to London with Tata. Upon landing at Heathrow Airport, Tata realized he couldn’t find his aides. “He went into the phone booth to call,” Bachchan remembered with a smile. “After a while, he came out and approached me, and, I can’t believe that he said this – ‘Amitabh, can I borrow some money from you? I don’t have money to make a phone call.’”

Another touching anecdote highlighted Tata’s modesty. Bachchan recalled a friend who was surprised to learn that Tata had requested a ride home. “Ratan Tata told my friend, ‘Can you drop me home? I just live behind your house,’” he shared. “Ratan Tata saying, ‘I don’t have a car’ – can you imagine that? It’s unbelievable.”

A Professional Connection

Bachchan also noted his professional ties to Tata, revealing that Tata Infomedia Ltd financed the film Aetbaar, which starred Bachchan. Despite the film’s underwhelming box office performance, resulting in a reported loss of around ₹3.5 crore for the Tata group, Bachchan remembered Tata’s support fondly.

Mourning the Loss

Amitabh Bachchan was among the first to publicly mourn Tata’s passing. He expressed his sorrow on X, stating, “Just came to learn of the passing of Shri Ratan Tata … An era has ended—a most respected, humble yet visionary leader of immense foresight and resolve. Spent some wonderful moments with him during several campaigns we were involved in together. My prayers.”

Ratan Tata’s funeral, held in Mumbai on October 11, drew many notable attendees, including cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Home Minister Amit Shah, and industrialist Mukesh Ambani, among others. Bachchan’s heartfelt reflections serve as a testament to the profound impact Tata had on those who knew him.

KBC 16: Mahabharata Question Worth ₹25 Lakh Trips Up Bengaluru’s Utkarsh- Can You Answer It?

August 13, 2024, 12:26 pm

Amitabh Bachchan has returned to host the 16th season of “Kaun Banega Crorepati” (KBC 16), and the excitement kicked off with its first episode airing on Monday. The show, known for its high-stakes trivia questions, saw Utkarsh Baxi from Bengaluru take the hot seat after winning the ‘Fastest Fingers First’ round.

Utkarsh demonstrated his knowledge well throughout the game, but he hit a stumbling block on a question worth ₹25 lakh. The question that tripped him up was related to the Indian epic, the Mahabharata: “According to the Mahabharata, which God gifted a garland to Amba, saying whoever wears it will be the person to kill Bhishma?” The options provided were Lord Shiva, Lord Kartikeya, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Vayu.

Uncertain of the correct answer, Utkarsh opted to use his ‘Video Call a Friend’ lifeline, seeking advice from a friend who suggested Lord Shiva. Still unsure, he then used the ‘Double Dip’ lifeline, which allows two attempts at the answer but does not permit the contestant to quit the game. Utkarsh first selected Lord Shiva, which turned out to be incorrect. He then chose Lord Vayu, but that too was wrong. The correct answer was Lord Kartikeya.

Amitabh Bachchan explained the significance of the correct answer: “Lord Kartikeya, after rigorous penance, appeared in front of Amba in his six-faced avatar and presented her with a garland. He said whoever wears it will be able to kill Bhishma. Since nobody was ready to do it, he threw it on a pole. Later, when Amba was reborn as Shikhandi, she wore the garland and killed Bhishma.”

As a result of his incorrect answers, Utkarsh missed the chance to win ₹25 lakh. Had he decided to quit the game before attempting the question, he could have walked away with ₹12.5 lakh. Instead, he ended up with a final prize of ₹3.20 lakh.

“Kaun Banega Crorepati” (KBC 16) airs on Sony Entertainment Television and has been a staple of Indian television, captivating audiences with its blend of knowledge and entertainment. The show continues to air on weekdays, Monday through Friday, at 9 PM.

This season introduces a new feature called ‘Dugnaastra,’ which allows contestants to double their winnings after correctly answering a ‘super sawaal.’ However, there’s a catch—the question comes without multiple-choice options, adding an extra layer of challenge.

Amitabh Bachchan has been the face of Kaun Banega Crorepati since its debut in 2000, with the exception of the third season in 2007, which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. Beyond the small screen, Bachchan is set to appear in upcoming films Section 84 and Vettaiyan.
