Saree-Clad Kanpur Woman Flaunts Gun on Highway, Triggers Outrage | WATCH

The fame of Instagram reels in India is on a high, attracting not only the youngsters but also a large number of middle-aged people. Some fans are even going beyond the boundaries just to gain likes and shares.

A recent shocking example is from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, where a woman was seen dancing with a gun on a highway. The video, apparently shot for an Instagram reel, went viral on social media.

The viral video on platform X features the woman wearing a green saree along with a skimpy blouse, performing on a Bhojpuri track. The act was performed on what is presumed to be the Kanpur-Delhi Highway. Perturbed users tagged the police and other authorities, calling for stringent action for exhibiting a weapon so openly.

The lady has been named Shalini, who operates the Instagram account “salinipanday60”. Her account has over 60,000 followers and over 2,550 posts.

After the circulation of the video, the police intervened to deal with the issue. In reply to the tagged post, they asserted, “It is to be informed in the said matter that the said woman is a resident of Kanpur Nagar, who made this video within the Kanpur Nagar district area. In this regard, the Kanpur Nagar Police have been informed.”

Such incidents are not unheard of in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, in 2024, YouTuber Simran Yadav too was in the news after a video surfaced where she was dancing with a pistol on the highway in Lucknow.

That too became viral, attracting police notice. The Lucknow Police at that time had made a statement, “The concerned have been directed to take necessary action,” promising that an investigation was being conducted.

In the current social media age, individuals tend to do anything and everything just to achieve viral fame. Anything from dangerous stunts to recording dangerous videos on highways and main roads is done in order to get viral attention online.

In this vein, a video recently went viral on the internet, which depicts a couple sharing PDA on a moving two-wheeler on the Agra–Kanpur National Highway.

The accident apparently occurred between 10 PM in the Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The woman can be seen lying on the fuel tank of the bike and the man driving the motorcycle confidently without a helmet in the video.

Caught on video by a bystander, the couple was caught openly disregarding traffic rules. Not only did their public display of affection on the speeding motorcycle endanger their own lives but also attracted harsh criticism.

Upon realizing that somebody was taking a video of them, the couple protested. Actually, when stopped in their tracks for their indecent behavior by the bystander, the biker calmly shot back, instructing him to mind his own business.

Noting the video, Firozabad Police wrote in Hindi on social media, “Taking cognisance of the viral video, the local police team has been asked to probe according to the video and take appropriate legal action as per norms.”

How Netizens Reacted

The comment section of the post filled within no time with a combination of sarcasm and anger. One user said, “Sbr rkho police challan kategi is video ke baad” (Have patience, police will issue a challan). The other said, “They need a wonderful treatment at the police station.”

Others reacted with pure incredulity at the couple’s callous indifference to safety. “These individuals are not even concerned for their own lives,” said one user, as another one insisted, “Vulgarity all over… The police ought to take rigorous action.”

This is not the first case of couples being filmed by cameras while undertaking dangerous stunts or cuddling on speeding bikes. Earlier, a shocking video from Noida captured a young man on a motorcycle with a girl on his lap, clearly enjoying the dangerous ride. That episode too was recorded by drivers behind them.

After the video went viral, Noida Traffic Police intervened and levied a heavy fine of Rs 53,500 under the Motor Vehicle Act.

A shocking case has been filed from the Rawatpur locality of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, in which a 17-year-old boy is said to have murdered his mother after an argument over loud music. The tragic incident occurred in the afternoon on Tuesday, June 24.

As per Amar Ujala, the boy, a student of Class 12, was washing dishes in the kitchen, listening to music loudly from a speaker. His unwell mother, who was resting in another room, asked him to turn the volume down. When he did not take her instructions seriously, she, as per reports, got angry and hit the speaker.

The dispute, initially being a small quarrel, soon turned violent. The teenager allegedly abused his mother in anger. She hit him twice with a slap in return. Angry, the boy shoved her, and in the scuffle, she began to bleed from her nose. Afraid that she might strike back some more, the boy panicked and, in an outburst of uncontrollable rage, allegedly strangled her with her dupatta (scarf). He then allegedly concealed her body within the storage drawer of the bed.

The widow woman was 35 years old and had been a widow for 17 years. She had two sons, aged 17 and 15, whom she brought up alone. She was living with a marketing man who was out of town in Bareilly on the day of the incident.

Discovery of Body

The younger son, who was a Class 9 student, had attended school normally that day. When he came back home at about 4 PM, he kept on calling out his mother but received no response. During the search, he saw a dupatta draped over the storage unit of the bed. When he opened it, he found his mother lying in there, still faintly breathing, and cried for help.

Neighbors came running after hearing the cries of the boy. With their help, he rushed his mother to a hospital, but she was found dead.

The police were later informed, and the older son was arrested. Under interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the offense. The case is under investigation.

Referring to the incident, DCP West Dinesh Tripathi added that the boy appeared to have ‘psychotic tendencies’ and added, “The issue of the smashed speaker came during the interrogation also.”

The youth, Rohit, was enjoying chowmein with his girlfriend at a roadside restaurant when his parents, Shiv Karan and Sushila, caught up with him. The parents, who had disapproved of their relationship, were violent in their reaction and started beating Rohit and his girlfriend.

The video clip captures Sushila pulling the girl by the hair and hitting both of them as they tried to flee the scene on a motorcycle. Preliminary reports indicate that the man belonged to Awas Vikas, Kanpur, and had several traffic violation charges against him – around 10. Operating a therapy center called ‘Revival World’ in Kidwai Nagar, the couple lured clients by promoting an “oxygen therapy” that they claimed would counter the harmful effects of pollution and aging. The high pollution levels in Kanpur, they argued, had accelerated the aging process, and their therapy could make clients appear 25 years old again.

ACP Anjali Vishwakarma explained that each session in the so-called time machine was priced at Rs. 90,000. She further revealed that the scheme had evolved into a pyramid structure, where customers were offered discounts if they referred others, thus broadening the scam’s reach.

One of the victims, Renu Singh Chandel, who filed a complaint, mentioned, “I was offered a free session if I introduced the service to others,” adding that she had brought several people in for the treatment.

So far, police have recorded 25 cases related to the scam, with more likely to surface as the investigation continues. Law enforcement is currently searching for Rajeev and Rashmi Dubey, who are on the run. Senior police official Anjali Vishwakarma stated, “They convinced gullible elderly individuals that too much pollution in the air was accelerating their aging process, and with their therapy, they could regain their youth in just a few months.”

A Pyramid Scheme Unveiled

As the investigation unfolds, it has come to light that the Dubeys transformed their operation into a pyramid scheme. Victims were incentivized to recruit others into the program, promising them free sessions for each new customer they brought in.

One victim, Renu Singh Chandel, reported losing a staggering ₹10.75 lakh to the scam. She claimed that the couple’s deceptive practices extended to numerous other individuals, with police estimating that around 25 couples fell victim to their con.

A 40-year-old man was discovered deceased inside a parked vehicle in Kanpur’s Green Park area, as per the police announcement on Thursday. The individual, identified as Atul, hailed from Unnao district, Uttar Pradesh, and worked as an e-rickshaw driver in Kanpur.

Police officials were alerted about the body found in a car parked near a cell tower in Green Park’s boundary area. Upon receiving the information, the police promptly responded to the scene. A complaint has been lodged against the unknown perpetrators, and investigations are ongoing.

“Based on a phone number found on a note with him, we contacted his family, and he was identified as Atul, son of Parshuram, from Unnao district,” she added.

An engineer, present in the vicinity to replace a mobile tower’s battery, detected a foul smell and upon investigation found the body inside the car, prompting him to inform the police.

“It is no less than a coincidence that we have gathered at a place like Kanpur to honour our veterans. Kanpur has its importance in the category of military history of this country,” the Defence Minister outlined.
“When India’s freedom struggle began in 1857, Peshwa Nanasaheb led the rebellion from Bithoor in Kanpur,” he said.
“Lakshmi Sehgal ji was the first woman captain of the Indian National Army formed by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose during the freedom struggle. She also had a close relationship with Kanpur. She even spent the last moments of her life in Kanpur,” he added.

40 shops gutted as major fire breaks out in UP’s Kanpur

Around 40 shops were gutted in a massive fire that broke out in one of them and quickly spread to adjacent structures in the Kidwai Nagar area of Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur on Monday morning. Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Brajesh Pathak assured that the state government will provide all kinds of help to the businessmen who lost a huge amount of money after a fire broke out in the early hours of Friday at AR Tower near Hamraj Market in Bansmandi, Kanpur.

The Deputy Chief Minister conducted an inspection of the situation on Friday. While talking to the reporters, Brajesh Pathak said, “The important thing right now is to control the fire and ensure that no one is harmed. Our government stands with the businessmen in this hour.

We will not leave them alone. The government assures all possible help to the businessmen.”

Kanpur anti-encroachment: Magisterial inquiry ordered in death of mother-daughter

A Magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the death of a mother-daughter duo after a fire broke out during an anti-encroachment drive. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya assured that the accused would be arrested and the culprits won’t be spared. Meanwhile, the mother-daughter killed in a fire during the demolition drive were cremated today.
“DY CM Pathak has assured us that Rs 1cr, govt job, residential quarter and a land strip would be given to each of us (2 brothers) and lifetime pension for my father,” said the deceased’s son.

UP: Teacher in Kanpur drills student’s left hand for not reciting Table 2

A teacher in a private school in Kanpur allegedly used a drill machine on a student’s left hand to punish him for failing to recite a table number of two.

The victim was a student of class 5 in the upper primary school at Premnagar in the Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The victim, a Sisamau village resident, reportedly suffered injuries to his drilled hand.

The student, in a complaint to the police, said, “The teacher (name withheld) asked me to recite the ‘Table of 2’. As I failed to do so, he drilled my hand. A fellow student standing beside me unplugged the drill immediately.”

After the incident, the student was reportedly sent home from school and received minor treatment.

According to a report published by the news agency ANI, the teacher in-charge allegedly did not inform local education officials about the incident. The officials were informed about the incident only when the student’s parents reached the school, resulting in a backlash against the school department.

On receiving information, the basic shiksha adhikari and the block education officer reached the school where the incident occurred to investigate the matter.

Speaking about the incident, Basic Shiksha Adhikari of Kanpur Nagar, Sujit Kumar Singh, said, “A committee has been formed to investigate this entire incident. Block education officers of Prem Nagar and Shastri Nagar will investigate the matter and send a report. Anyone found guilty would face punitive action.”

Kanpur: 50-year-old Muslim man fakes identity to lure and molest Hindu girl

A Muslim man, 50, was detained in Kanpur for using a false identity to lure a Hindu woman from Bihar. The accused has been identified as Shahenshah Alam. The girl from Motihari district was purportedly befriended by the Muslim man on Facebook. On his social media account, the man posted a different photo along with his name, Sachin Sharma.

A few months ago, the girl met the man who had promised to marry her and find work for her in Kanpur. The Bihar girl accused the 50-year-old in her lawsuit of luring her by hiding his religious affiliation. The girl stated that Alam had invited her to meet him at a hotel in the Copperganj neighbourhood of Kanpur. As soon as he entered the hotel room, the man in a mask turned off the light and attempted to molest the girl.

The girl was startled to discover a 50-year-old man standing in front of him when she turned on the lights.

The hotel personnel promptly alerted the police after the girl raised the alarm. Workers from the Bajrang Dal also went to the hotel and demanded strict action against the accused.

According to ACP TB Singh, Shahenshah Alam was a bike technician.

IT raids over 30 locations in Maharashtra

As part of a probe into tax evasion, the Income Tax has raided over 30 locations of the close aides of Samajwadi Party Maharashtra MLA Abu Azmi.

Kanpur stages a half marathon to raise awareness of cleaning up Ganga

A half marathon was organised by the civic society on Sunday along with the Kanpur District Administration.

This 10-kilometer race served to connect and educate the general public about the need to keep Ganga and Kanpur clean. A significant number of individuals showed up.

“This event has been organised to promote a healthy Kanpur on behalf of Kanpur smart city and Kanpur District Administration. This is a 10 kilometres marathon and thousands of people have participated in it so that a healthy lifestyle can be adopted”, Dr Rajasekhar (Kanpur Commissioner Commissioner) said.

“On the theme of Run for Ganga, this half marathon has been organised in which CEI Kanpur unit and civil society and others have come together to be a part of this event,” Shiv Sharanappa (Municipal Commissioner) said.
He further said, “We expected 3,000 people to be there, but surprisingly, around 5,000 people have turned up.”

The half marathon was held from Sarasaiah Ghat in Kanpur to the Company Bagh crossroads.

Up to 26 people died in road accident in Kanpur

The number of fatalities in the Kanpur road accident in Uttar Pradesh, where a tractor-trailer carrying pilgrims crashed, increased to 26 on Saturday.

On Saturday night, a tragedy happened in the Ghatampur region of the Kanpur district.

Devotees were being transported back from Unnao in a tractor-trailer. The police arrived on the scene right away and jointly launched a rescue operation with the residents.

The injured were taken right away for medical treatment at the community health centre. The injured have been referred to Kanpur Hallet Hospital.

“A total of 26 people have lost their lives and others are injured. The pilgrims were returning from the Chandika Devi temple in Fatehpura. The injured people have been sent to Hallet hospital. An investigation is underway. Rescue work has been completed,” said Vishak G Iyer, District Magistrate, Kanpur.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 for the injured and Rs 2 lakh for each deceased person’s next of kin.

“Distressed by the tractor-trolley mishap in Kanpur. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their near and dear ones. Prayers for the injured. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected,” tweeted the PMO.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, said that senior authorities have been told to be there right away.

“The road accident in Kanpur district is very heart-wrenching. The District Magistrate and other senior officers have been directed to reach the spot immediately and conduct relief and rescue operations on a war footing and make arrangements for proper treatment of the injured. Wishing a speedy recovery to the injured,” tweeted CM Yogi.

“The loss of life in this accident is very sad. My condolences are with the bereaved family. Praying to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed souls a place at his feet and the families of the dead to bear this unfathomable loss,” he added.

In fit of rage, man strangles wife to death over an argument

A man in Kanpur strangled his wife to death after an argument over some domestic issues. Reportedly, the accused stuffed the body of the deceased into a bag and dropped it inside the warehouse of the liquor store.

The incident was discovered when the woman’s family attempted to call her but received no answer.

The accused has been identified as Pawan Kumar. He is a resident of Panki Gangaganj Part 4 and works as a salesperson at an English-contracted liquor store situated in Panki Industrial Area Number 3, according to a report.

According to the authorities, the incident took place on September 7, when Pawan’s wife, Shiva, arrived to meet him at his shop. There, after a fight between the husband and wife, Shiva was strangled by Pawan in a fit of wrath. He dumped her body before leaving the area.

Shiva’s family members were unable to reach her when they called her on the phone. As a result, they went to her house but received no response this time. This led them to Pawan’s shop, where they discovered her dead body inside the warehouse in a sack. They called the police right away.

When the police arrived, they removed the body for an autopsy. The key suspect in the case was Pawan, who had gone AWOL, and the police were able to find him and take him into custody.

IIT Kanpur condoles death of Ph.D. student Prasant Singh

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur condoled the death of Ph.D. student Prasant Singh on Wednesday.

“IIT Kanpur condoles untimely and unfortunate demise of Ph.D. student Prasant Singh. At about 8.30 pm on Sept 6, he was found hanging from his room’s ceiling; pronounced dead when taken to Institute’s health center; police probe awaited to determine likely reason for suicide,” IIT Kanpur said.

A resident of Hall 8 called the institute security section when Prashant Singh’s room was locked from the inside and was unresponsive to knocks.

In a statement, IIT said, “When the Institute’s administrators forcibly opened the door, they discovered Prasant Singh hanging from the ceiling with the help of a bedsheet.”

Moreover, Prasant Singh was taken to the health center of the institute but all the physicians called him dead.

“The police forensic team came that same evening and began their investigations. Prasant Singh’s body was taken to the Mortuary of Hallet Hospital,” the institute stated.

However, Prasant Singh was a Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and was enrolled at IIT Kanpur in 2019. The institute statement also said a talented student and aspiring scientist is lost.

Women along with 2 children found dead in Kanpur, Suicide suspected

In Kanpur’s Bilhaur neighbourhood, a woman and her two children were discovered dead inside the house under unusual circumstances in the absence of her husband, who was gone to the Ganpati Puja Pandal.

The forensic team and the police arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.

Manoj, the deceased woman’s husband, disclosed that he had gone to the neighbouring Ganesh Puja Pandal to take part in the aarti. Nobody answered the door when he got home. He entered the door with the assistance of the neighbours and discovered his wife and kids’ bodies on the bed.

When the police and the forensic team arrived at the scene, they sent the bodies for an autopsy.

Outer SP Tej Swaroop Singh stated that foam was coming out of the child’s mouth. The police suspect it to be a suicide case, but other angles are being investigated.

1 Jaish terrorist with 2 spies from Kanpur and Rajasthan

Uttar Pradesh ATS arrested a terrorist working for Jaish-e-Mohammed in Kanpur. While two spies have been caught in Rajasthan who was giving confidential information to Pakistan.
The terrorist arrested from Kanpur is 19-year-old Habibul Islam alias Saifullah. The state’s Home Department has kept all the security agencies on high alert mode.

Earlier on 12 August, ATS arrested Mohammad Nadeem, associated with Jaish and other terrorist organizations, from Saharanpur. Habibul’s information was received during the interrogation of Nadeem. On this basis, he was arrested.

Nadeem was taken to Kanpur by the ATS team and the field unit there arrested Habibul after investigating many places in the city. Connections of both these terrorists with Jaish have come to the fore.

Meanwhile, Habibul is a master in creating Virtual ID. He has created virtual IDs of many Pakistani and Afghan terrorists along with Nadeem. According to official information, till now he has created virtual IDs of more than 50 terrorists.

Habibul is associated with many terrorists of Pakistan and Afghanistan through many mediums of internet media such as Facebook Messenger, Telegram, and WhatsApp. It is believed that after the interrogation of Habibul, more terrorists can also come into the possession of ATS.

Moreover, in 2018, Habibul was introduced to Pakistani terrorist Hakimullah on the online platform. Hakimullah introduced Nadeem to Habibul. Habibul then introduced him to radical elements based in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates.

However, the spies arrested from Rajasthan have been identified as Narayan Lal Gadri, 27, a resident of Bhilwara, and Kuldeep Shekhawat, 24, a resident of Jaipur.

According to officials, Narayan used to provide SIMs of several companies to Pakistani handlers. Pakistani handlers used these SIMs to run social media accounts. The second spy Kuldeep used to send the secret information of the army to Pakistan. The intelligence agency of Rajasthan Police has succeeded in nabbing the spies.
