Indian Army Pays Tribute to Jawan who lost his life in Kishtwar Encounter

The Indian Army conducted a wreath-laying ceremony at the Air Force Station in Jammu to pay homage to Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar of 2 Para (SF), who lost his life during a counter-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. The solemn event witnessed tributes from senior army officials and fellow soldiers.

Joint Operation Turns Fatal for Braveheart

Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar was part of a joint counter-insurgency operation in the Bhart Ridge area of Kishtwar on November 9, 2024. The operation was initiated after reports of terrorist activity in the region. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps, along with all ranks, expressed their respect for the fallen soldier in a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter).

The post read: “Sub Rakesh was part of a joint CT (counter-terrorism) operation launched in the general area of Bhart Ridge area of Kishtwar district. We stand with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.”

Encounter Continues in Kishtwar

According to reports from the Jammu and Kashmir police, the gunfight broke out in the Keshwan area of Kishtwar district. Authorities believe that three to four terrorists are currently trapped in the region. The security forces are continuing their search operations in the Saranwan area to track down and neutralize the suspects.

The ongoing encounter has prompted the deployment of additional reinforcements to the site. The situation remains tense as the joint teams of the Indian Army, police, and paramilitary forces intensify their efforts to bring the operation to a conclusion. Authorities have urged the public to stay away from the encounter site for their safety.

One such show has set a new record, eclipsing even the priciest films ever made.

World’s Most Expensive TV Show

‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ holds the title of the most expensive TV show in history. Premiering on Amazon Prime Video in 2022, it cost Amazon Studios an astonishing $1 billion (₹8,300 crore), according to Deadline. This figure encompasses the rights acquisition and promotional expenses for the first season. Collider reported that the production costs alone reached around $465 million (over Rs. 3,800 crore), with each of the eight episodes costing an eye-watering $58 million (Rs. 480 crore).

How ‘Rings of Power’ Towers Above Big Films

In comparison, the most expensive film to date, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, had a production budget of $447 million, which is still less than that of ‘The Rings of Power’. Notably, the original ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy had a combined production cost of just $260 million for all three films, highlighting how far the spinoff has advanced in financial terms.

When it comes to Indian cinema, the gap is even wider. The most costly Indian films, including ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, ‘RRR’, and ‘Adipurush’, have budgets ranging from $70 to $75 million, a mere fraction (1/15th) of ‘The Rings of Power’s season 1 total cost. Remarkably, the per-episode production cost of $58 million surpasses the budgets of major Indian films like ‘Brahmastra Part One’ ($45 million), ‘Singham Again’ ($42 million), and ‘Jawan’ ($36 million).

Rajkummar Rao on Stree 2’s Success

In an earlier interview with News18, Rajkummar Rao expressed his joy over the overwhelming response Stree 2 received at the box office. “We were sure that the film would get a lot of love because of the love that Stree 1 got. There’s a big fan-following for Stree, including me. I am a huge fan of Stree myself. But these numbers are way above our expectations. We are glad and super elated. There’s a lot of gratitude that this is happening with a film like Stree, because it is a content-driven film,” the actor said.

Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s polarising action drama, ‘Animal’ collected a sensational Rs 54.75 crore on the first day even though it was meant for “adults only”. The film went on to become a game-changer for Ranbir Kapoor despite mixed reviews. This was Sandeep’s second Hindi film after the equally controversial ‘Kabir Singh’.

Jawan (2023)

The Shah Rukh Khan-led actioner collected Rs 65 crore on its opening day and went on to emerge as a runaway hit at the box office, The film was directed by Atlee and marked his Bollywood debut. The flick featured SRK in the lead role and catered to a mass audience. The cast included Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and Priyamani.

Pathaan (2023)

Shah Rukh Khan, who suffered a setback when ‘Zero’ bombed at the box office, bounced back with the 2023 blockbuster ‘Pathaan’. War (2019)

The Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff-led spy flick earned a sensational Rs 51 crore at the box office when it hit screens on Gandhi Jayanti in 2019. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Dunki, superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s first film with director Rajkumar Hirani, made an estimated Rs 26 cr on Saturday, marking a much-needed increase on its third day of release. It was vital for the social comedy drama that Dunki’s Saturday collections saw a thirty percent increase from its Friday, or second day, figures. For the movie to keep a steady pace at the box office, it needed to at least match its opening day total of Rs 29 cr, if not surpass it.

Thus the year 2023 is almost over. And to be honest, not a single high-end, star-studded Bollywood production this year was good enough to be admitted into the category of pure excellence. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Jawan earned Rs 5.5 crore on Thursday, an increase from Rs 4.9 crore on Tuesday and Rs 5.1 crore on Wednesday.

This brings the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer’s lifetime nett domestic total to Rs 581 crore, implying that it will likely cross the Rs 600 crore milestone this weekend.

Jawan didn’t appear to be influenced by this week’s new Hindi films, such as Fukrey 3, which debuted to more than Rs 8 crore, and The Vaccine War, which debuted to Rs 1.3 crore.

Throughout its theatrical run, Jawan has smashed numerous records. The film set new records for the biggest opening day, weekend, and week for a Hindi film.

It was also the quickest Hindi film to reach the Rs 100 crore, Rs 200 crore, Rs 300 crore, Rs 400 crore, and Rs 500 crore milestones. Shah Rukh Khan Sir Made Us Feel We Were All Part Of Same Boat: Sanjeeta Bhattacharya On Her Debut In Jawan

Singer, songwriter and actress Sanjeeta Bhattacharya made her grand debut in bollywood film Jawan which continues to sway the audiences with seamless and powerful performance from Shah Rukh Khan and his team of gun-wielding angels. Sanjeeta Bhattacharya played the role of Helena (techie) in the film. She has also penned and composed a Spanish song Mis Chicas for the movie.

In a candid conversation the versatile actress revealed her fascinating journey and sharing screen space with the legendary Shah Rukh Khan. Excerpts:

Q: As you made your debut in Jawan, how tough was the selection procedure? How did it happen?

A: It happened very organically, very spontaneously. When I got a call in July 2021 my debut OTT series had just released. It is called Feels Like Ishq. I had a music show in Kolkata and I got a call from casting director Mukesh Chhabra sir’s office and they didn’t tell me much about the story, or the lead actor. Incidentally next week I had another show in Mumbai. Since it happened that I was in the city so I went to their office for the audition. Very nonchalantly I gave the audition without knowing what am I signing up for. A week later I got another call from their office saying that you have been locked for the role of Helena and the lead actor is Shah Rukh Khan, and Production is Red Chillies. Obviously it was a surreal moment for me because how often do you get a call which could potentially change your life. I am very glad that this opportunity came my way.

Q: How was your experience working with Shah Rukh Khan?

A: It was outstanding. People say that he is witty, intelligent, funny, spontaneous and incredible craftsman. He is all of those things and most importantly he is humble person because when you are such a legend you can often forget that you are essentially an artist and you often put yourself on a pedestral but he does not at all. He is very easy to speak with. He makes you feel very welcome in the sets. He made us feel that we were all part of same boat and in fact he thanked us for being the part of his film.

Q: Would you like to share some interesting moment during the shoot?

A: When Shah Rukh sir was told that I am a musician, the next day he brought a guitar and a mike on the set for me to sing. I was touched thinking that how thoughtful it was of him to remember that. I sang a Spanish song for Shah Rukh sir and the entire team. That was like an ice breaking moment. Everyone appreciated it and Atlee sir said something which I will never forget. He said that goddess is in your voice. That was the beginning of the fact that I have a song in Jawan as well. The Spanish song that you hear is a song written and sung by me.

Q: Did you undergo any special training for the movie? How was your experience working with director Atlee sir?

A: My experience working with Atlee sir was extremely heartwarming because he is not very older than us. In his young shoulder he has carried such a massive film including iconic actors. He has done it so gracefully. He is a visionary and he knows exactly what the audience wants to see through his messages. One most unique thing about Atlee sir is that he is able to deliver a very important social message through each of his film with a very massy execution. His movies have everything from romance to drama, action and little laughter but at the same time his movies are not hollow. They deliver very important social message which I think our society desperately needs.

Q: How was your understanding with likes of actress Nayanthara and Sanya Malhotra?

A: Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani and the rest of us six girls we are actual best friends in real life. It is very rare to come across a group of people who really get along not just on screen but in real life. The best thing about them is that they are not only extremely talented but also very kind and funny. We share all our ups and down and our food with each other. We are very appreciative of each other. Sanya is an incredible actor and more importantly very funny person and a great dancer also. Nayanthara mam is quite a force to reckon with. She is an incredible actor. What strikes me most about her is that she is able to stand her ground which makes her such an icon in this predominantly male industry. The fact that she is a female superstar, she deserves all the adulation that goes with her name. I am glad I could share screen space with her.

Q: How did you celebrate the success of the film?

A: All of our cast and crew members got together and celebrated two nights in a row on the day of the release. We are so lucky that the film is doing so well beyond what anyone of us expected and the audience is taking it very well. We are very happy for each other.

Within just 11 days of its release, the film has already crossed the Rs- 800 crore mark worldwide, with an astonishing domestic gross of over Rs 530 crore. The triumph of the films comes months after the Baadshah of Bollywood scripted history with Siddharth Anand directorial Pathaan.

For the unversed, Pathaan achieved a global box office collection of Rs 1,055 crore, with an impressive India gross of Rs 657.5 crore, making it the second highest- grossing Hindi film. Now, as Atlee directorial gears up to cross the Rs 1,000-crore mark globally, the film has firmly established itself as a box-office marvel. Currently, the film is the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2023. It is also the fastest film to cross Rs 400 crore Hindi nett and to enter Rs 300 crore.

Jawan minted Rs 364.43 crore within seven days of its release. The record was earlier held by King Khan’s previous film Pathaan, which earned Rs 364.15 crore.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan unveiled the extended version of the peppy track ‘Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ from his action thriller ‘Jawan’.

Taking to Instagram, SRK dropped the song video with a catchy caption.

During the post-release meet of Jawan held today at the YRF Studios in Mumbai, SRK said, “No, this is mass and not class” to all the shots that he felt were “cool shots”. He said, “Every time I thought I have done a cool shot, Atlee sir would be like, ‘No, this is mass and not class’.”

Further, he added, “Whatever I’ve done in the film is because of the love of the team. I get shy, actors get shy to do things, and we feel awkward. I just wanted to make him happy and please him. It is the duty of every actor, whatever film you do, you have to make your director happy because, through his eyes, everybody is going to perceive you and see you. I’m happy I could make him happy.”

SRK also spoke about Jawan and said, “A lot is being said about Jawan, but for us Jawan is a feeling which every Indian has. Jawan is an emotion. The gorgeous Deepika Padukone recently made an extended cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. However, she did not charge even a single rupee for it.

Deepika told The Week in a recent interview, “I wanted to be a part of 83 because I wanted it to be an ode to women who stand behind their husbands’ glory. I watched my mother do it. This was my homage to wives who make sacrifices to support their husbands’ careers. Other than that, any special appearance for Shah Rukh Khan, I am there. Same with Rohit Shetty.” She also talked about her relationship with SRK and shared, “We are each other’s lucky charm. But honestly, we are beyond luck. We have a sense of ownership over each other.”

For those unaware, Deepika made her Bollywood debut opposite SRK in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om.

Filmmaker Karan Johar has been bowled over by Shah Rukh Khan’s latest release ‘Jawan’.
On Thursday morning, Karan took to Instagram and penned an appreciation note for the team of ‘Jawan’ including actors Deepika Padukone, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, director Atlee and of course Shah Rukh “bhai”.

He started his note by giving a shout-out to Atlee for directing the film which has taken the box office by storm.

“OMFG!!!!! I am late to this party!!!! But what a party this is!!!! @atlee47 hits it out of the stadium… it’s the kind of adrenalin rush film with big emotion that Indian cinema embodies and this film perfects!!!! Was blown away by the cinematic audacity of each frame,” Karan said.

‘Jawan’ marks the second release of SRK this year after blockbuster ‘Pathaan’, which also featured Deepika Padukone.

Those who have seen Jawan cannot help but be affected by Sanya Malhotra’s music. She plays a doctor who tries to fix a lack of oxygen supply at a government hospital, which results to the death of 63 children, but is imprisoned when the government arrests her for dereliction of duty.

As an allusion to Dr. Kafeel Khan’s fate in the 2017 Gorakhpur hospital disaster, director Atlee appears to have stolen a leaf from actual life. Kafeel has finally acknowledged this and expressed gratitude to director and producer-actor Shah Rukh Khan.

On Saturday, Dr. Kafeel Khan took to X (previously Twitter) and recorded a video thanking the makers of Jawan for presenting an incident identical to his own. He also stated that he hasn’t seen the film yet, but has been receiving messages and well wishes regarding it since its release.

Kafeel wrote in Hindi, “I haven’t seen Jawan but people have been messaging me saying they missed you (namaste emoji) There is a lot of difference between the film world and real life. ‘Jawan’ Fever In Theatres: Fans Gather Outside Mumbai Theatre

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s movie ‘Jawan’ opened in theatres on Thursday.

The ‘Jawan’ mania brought fans of SRK to Mumbai’s Getty Galaxy Theatre at midnight where they waited anxiously for the theater’s gates to open.

A fan told News Agency, “So excited that I couldn’t sleep the whole night. I have come from Solan to Mumbai to watch the movie. You can already see the storm of King Khan coming on everyone’s face.”

“Only one dialouge is in trend now, ‘Bete ko hath lagaane se pehle baap se baat kar’. There are five looks of ‘baap’ in the movie. We all love SRK,” another said.

“We are standing since 4 in the morning to watch this movie and the movie will be a super hit,” said a fan.

“The sun hasn’t even risen but all the walls of the Cirque are shining as if the Cirque shines like a star. ‘Pathan Abhi Jawan hai,’” a viewer said.

SRK fans were evidently thrilled, and some even turned up as bandaged versions of the actor from the film.

Mahesh Babu Gives Shout-Out To Jawan

Ahead of Jawan’s, actor Mahesh Babu wished Shah Rukh Khan luck for the film’s massive success.

‘Jawan craze has already started and after ‘Pathaan’, SRK fans are now eagerly waiting for the movie.

Its dialogue and SRK’s look have already made movie buffs eager to watch it in theatres.
Recently, the fans expressed their love for SRK by gathering outside his house ‘Mannat’ in Mumbai and dancing to the tune of his songs.

The craze of SRK fans was doubled after watching the trailer of the film. In the trailer, SRK was seen hijacking a train and operating a team of six women as they carried out various heists all around the nation. SRK appeared in many avatars, suggesting that he is playing double roles in the movie.

Nayanthara plays a cop entrusted with finding the vigilante. She is shown romancing SRK in the trailer as well. Deepika Padukone, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover and Ridhi Dogra are also featured in the trailer which is packed with some jaw-dropping action scenes.

The film is all set to hit the cinemas on September 7.
