</excerpt>

Actor Arjun Kapoor actively participated in the 11th International Day of Yoga, highlighting the importance of both physical and mental well-being. He called the occasion a proud moment for India and praised yoga’s global influence.

Speaking to reporters, Kapoor said, “I am very happy and proud that we all celebrate it together. I think both physical and mental health are the most important. India should celebrate it with pride, as it has gone to the world from us. Yoga is something that has gone global, and today, I feel proud to be an Indian and part of this movement.”

Kapoor appreciated how yoga remains accessible to everyone. “Yoga has no age. You can start anytime and move at your own pace,” he noted. He also described it as a balanced combination of physical health and meditation. “It helps in various ways, whether it’s for your body or your mind,” he added.

He went on to applaud Amruta Fadnavis for organising a yoga event with 1000 women. “There can’t be a better thing than this,” he said, praising the inspiring participation of women and young girls in making yoga a daily habit.

Looking ahead, Kapoor expressed his hopes for an even bigger turnout. “Next time, I hope more than 1000 people will join us. It will keep growing bigger and bigger,” he said with optimism.

Known for being candid about his own health journey, Kapoor encouraged people with inactive lifestyles to start making small changes. “I used to be a plump teenager, and I can tell you from experience that change doesn’t happen overnight,” he shared. For those who can’t work out regularly, he advised controlling diet and balancing food with physical activity.

“Start with walking. Start with yoga. Give 10 minutes, give 20 minutes. The most important thing is to stop waiting for the ‘perfect moment.’ Start now,” he urged.

Kapoor stressed that fitness isn’t about quick results. “If you say you’ll start from Monday, then why waste Saturday and Sunday? Start now. If you don’t get it right today, try again tomorrow. It’s all about consistency,” he explained. Reflecting on his transformation, he said, “It took me four years to get to where I am today. If I can do it, then I believe anyone can do it.”

The event also saw participation from Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, and actress Nushrratt Bharuccha.

Nushrratt shared her thoughts on yoga’s impact: “Yoga is very energising. If yoga becomes a part of your daily routine, it will be perfect for your mind, body, and soul,” she told ANI.

This year’s International Yoga Day followed the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” promoting the deep link between personal wellness and the planet’s health.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reinforced this message by leading a mass yoga session in Visakhapatnam, with over three lakh people joining in. In his address, he said, “Yoga is for everyone, beyond boundaries, beyond backgrounds, beyond age or physical ability. It is a universal gift that unites humanity in health, harmony, and consciousness.”

Since 2014, when the United Nations first declared June 21 as International Day of Yoga, the global reach of the practice has expanded rapidly. With support from over 175 countries, yoga continues to help millions live healthier and more mindful lives.

</excerpt>

India’s High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, described this year’s International Day of Yoga as “special” because King Charles III extended his wishes in a rare gesture.

Royal Message Adds Significance

Speaking to ANI, Doraiswami said, “This year is particularly special as we had, for the first time as far as I’m aware, a message from His Majesty the King.” He also noted that this royal message marked an important gesture for the 11th anniversary of International Day of Yoga.

Vibrant Celebrations at The Strand, London

The Indian High Commission in London hosted a grand celebration at The Strand. People from the Indian diaspora, yoga followers, and supporters of India joined the event. They participated in guided yoga and meditation sessions.

The event followed this year’s global theme: “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” Alongside the yoga session, guests enjoyed cultural performances like Indian classical music and dance, reinforcing yoga’s deep link with Indian heritage.

Yoga and the Summer Solstice

Doraiswami highlighted why Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21. “There is a reason why historic civilisations saw the summer solstice as a very special day. It’s connected with yoga’s scientific role in healing and improving human health,” he explained.

King Charles Praises Yoga’s Global Impact

The message from King Charles III praised yoga’s growing popularity in the UK. “Yoga for One Earth One Health reminds us how vitally important it is that the world comes together to secure a happy and a healthy future,” the King said.

“Millions across the UK are reaping its benefits.” “I send my best wishes to everyone celebrating the 10th anniversary of International Yoga Day,” he added.

The event at The Strand was co-hosted by the Indian High Commission and King’s College London. The Indian mission also shared updates on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting yoga’s positive message of unity and well-being.

A Global Recognition

In 2014, the United Nations declared June 21 as International Day of Yoga after a proposal by India, supported by 175 nations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the idea during his address at the 69th UN General Assembly.

Since then, the day has grown into a global celebration of mind-body wellness and environmental consciousness.

He urged the world to adopt yoga for peace, wellness, and unity, as over 3 lakh people joined the celebrations.
</excerpt>

On Saturday, June 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations from Visakhapatnam’s picturesque seashore in Andhra Pradesh. Speaking to the country and yoga practitioners everywhere, he emphasized yoga’s ability to bring harmony to the rest of the world during turmoil and commended its ability to bring people together.

“I send my greetings to citizens of all over the world on this International Yoga Day. Today, for the 11th time, the entire world is practicing yoga collectively on 21st June. The very literal meaning of yoga is to join. And it is great to see how yoga united the entire world,” stated PM Modi, recalling the global popularity of yoga.

From UN Recognition to Global Movement

Reminiscing about India’s historical effort at the United Nations, Modi referred to the way in which the concept of commemorating June 21 as International Yoga Day had gained unprecedented international support. “The past decade, if you look at the journey of yoga, it reminds me of many things. The day India presented a resolution in the UNGA to acknowledge June 21 as International Yoga Day and within a very short span of time, 175 nations of the world joined us. This kind of unity and support in the present era is not a common event,” he added.

He highlighted the point that yoga is a perennial gift that is above age, background, and boundaries. “Yoga is for everyone beyond boundaries, beyond backgrounds, beyond age or physical ability. It is a universal gift that unites humanity in health, harmony, and consciousness.”

Visakhapatnam Celebrates International Yoga Day 2025

The occasion was held between a 26-kilometre distance from Ramakrishna Beach to Bhogapuram, and nearby Indian Navy ships anchored in the area provided a sense of grandeur to the landscape. Three lakh people participated in the mass demonstration of yoga.

PM Modi appreciated the hosting, saying, “Friends, I am really happy that we are here in Visakhapatnam, a city that harmoniously combines nature and progress. I would like to offer my warm congratulations to Chandrababu Naidu Garu and Pawan Kalyan for the hosting of such a great event under your leadership. It is appreciable that the Andhra Pradesh state has undertaken this significant initiative to promote yoga.

He also emphasized the global spread of yoga: “Be it the steps of Sydney Opera House, the summits of Everest, or the vastness of the ocean. Everywhere the message is the same Yoga is for all and belongs to all.”

Watch:

Yoga isn’t just an exercise. It is a way of life. Wonderful to join this year’s Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam. https://t.co/ReTJ0Ju2sN

— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) June 21, 2025

Yoga as Humanity’s Healing Tool

Against the backdrop of increased global tensions and regional instability, Prime Minister highlighted the timeliness of yoga in providing peace and stability. “Alas, today the whole world is experiencing some tension and turmoil. Instability has been rising in most parts of the world. In such a situation, Yoga provides us with the path of peace. Yoga is the pause key which humanity needs to breathe, balance and become complete again.”

He called upon the global community to accept yoga as a common devotion to wellness and harmony. “I would like to take this moment to appeal to the global community on this auspicious occasion to let this International Yoga Day be the start of Yoga for Humanity.”. Let it be the day that inner peace is made a worldwide policy, when yoga is no longer a private ritual, but a tool for global cooperation and oneness. Let all nations and all communities set out to make yoga a collective responsibility, a common service for the well-being of all.

A Call for a Global Movement

Emphasizing the concept of yoga as a common thread, PM Modi summed up, “Let us together make yoga a mass movement. A movement that leads the world towards peace, health and harmony. Where everybody begins the day with yoga and balances life. Where every society is aligned with yoga and stress-free. Where yoga is made the medium to unite humanity and where Yoga For One Earth, One Health is a global solution.”

The function was also graced by Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and State IT Minister Nara Lokesh.

The theme of this year’s International Yoga Day was ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’.

Our soldiers have been seen participating in International Yoga Day from different parts of the country. Soldiers of the Indian Army, stationed in the icy northern regions of the country, proved their dedication. These warriors wore heavy white winter clothing, faced the bitter cold, and gave their all in yoga classes with the proper mats. They performed a variety of basic asanas, such as Triangle Pose, seated upward stretches, focused breathing exercises, and stretches, concluding each session with a courteous Namaskar.

Health Benefits Of Doing Yoga:

Practicing Yoga not only relaxes and soothes your body muscles and mind but also builds strength and flexibility. Yoga impacts the body’s muscles, joints, skin, internal organs, bones, breathing, and brain through asanas and other techniques. Posture and breath are integral physical components of yoga.

On the first day, Modi attended the ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. The event focuses on youth-led development, where PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for numerous projects worth over Rs. 1,500 crore. These projects span various sectors, including infrastructure, water supply, and education. Additionally, he launched the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP), valued at Rs. 1,800 crore, which aims to benefit 300,000 households across 20 districts in Jammu and Kashmir.

On the second day, PM Modi will lead the International Yoga Day celebrations at SKICC in Srinagar. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Yoga for Self and Society,” emphasizing yoga’s role in individual and societal well-being. The event aims to unite people through the practice of yoga, encouraging grassroots participation and promoting yoga in rural areas.

Anticipation Builds for Global Celebrations

As June 21 approaches, anticipation builds for widespread celebrations of yoga’s profound impact on health and wellness worldwide. This year, the main International Day of Yoga celebrations will be held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the event. AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav confirmed the details on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Modi’s Visit to Jammu and Kashmir

It will be Modi’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after being sworn in as the prime minister for his third term. Modi is scheduled to arrive in Srinagar on June 20 and will lead the International Day of Yoga celebrations the next day. Preparations are underway, with arrangements for the program already in place. An official in Srinagar mentioned that hundreds of people, including many sportspersons, are expected to participate in the event.

Training and Participation

The participants for the event in Srinagar have been shortlisted and are being trained in various ‘asanas’ that are expected to be performed by the Prime Minister. This meticulous preparation underscores the significance of the event and the high level of coordination involved.

Previous Visit to Srinagar

Prime Minister Modi’s last visit to Srinagar was in March this year when he addressed a public rally at the Bakhshi Stadium. His upcoming visit for the International Day of Yoga celebration marks another important occasion, reflecting his continued engagement with the region.

The convergence of swimmers at the Triveni Sangam and the preparations in Srinagar both signify the growing enthusiasm for yoga, showcasing its universal appeal and its ability to bring people together in pursuit of health and wellness.

</excerpt>

On the occasion of the 9th International Yoga Day, Indian Army men practiced yoga in Rajasthan on Wednesday morning.
In honor of the 9th International Yoga Day earlier that day, Indian Army members practised yoga at Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh. At Delhi Cantonment in the capital, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande also practised yoga. Rajnath Singh, the defense minister, and Admiral R. Hari Kumar, the chief of the naval staff, practised yoga on board the INS Vikrant in Kochi, Kerala.Every year International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21 worldwide. It serves as a platform to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga and promote its holistic approach to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
The concept of International Yoga Day was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 2014 address to the United Nations General Assembly. Since then, Yoga has gained huge popularity worldwide due to its ability to enhance flexibility, strength, balance, and overall fitness. It is the ninth year since the UN recognised June 21 as International Yoga Day through a resolution in 2014.
This year, the theme of Yoga Day is ‘Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ i.e., Yoga for the welfare of all in the form of ‘One World-One Family. It emphasizes the spirit of Yoga, which unites everyone and takes them in stride. Like every time, this time too, programs related to yoga will be organized in every corner of the country.
Arrangements have also been made in different parts of the country to celebrate the occasion and spread awareness of the benefits of ancient Indian practice.
Meanwhile, PM Modi will celebrate the International Day of Yoga on June 21 at the United Nations Headquarters with the UN leadership and members of the international community. “At around 5:30 pm IST, I will participate in the Yoga program which is being organized at the headquarters of the United Nations. The coming together of more than 180 countries on India’s call is historic. When the proposal for Yoga Day came to the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, it was supported by a record number of countries,” said PM Narendra Modi via video message on the occasion of International Day of Yoga.
