Rahul Gandhi’s Response

In response, Rahul Gandhi addressed the media, claiming that BJP MPs were blocking his entry into Parliament. He said, “This might be on your camera. I was trying to go inside through the Parliament entrance, but BJP MPs were trying to stop me, push me, and threaten me. So this happened… Yes, this has happened (Mallikarjun Kharge being pushed). But we do not get affected by jostling. But this is the entrance and we have the right to go in. UN chief condemns Kabul attack; expresses condolences to bereaved families

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned the Kabul hotel attack and also expressed condolences to the bereaved families. The attacks resulted in multiple casualties.

“The Secretary-General strongly condemns the attack on 12 December on a Hotel in Kabul, resulting in multiple casualties. The Secretary-General expresses his condolences to the bereaved families and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured,” UN Secretary-General Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said.

The statement further stated, “The Secretary-General calls for the perpetrators to be held to account. He reiterates that attacks against civilians and civilian objects are strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law.”

Meanwhile, in the Kabul hotel attack, at least three people were killed and two foreigners were also injured.

Talking about the incident Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid said an attack was carried out in the Longan Hotel in which 21 casualties – 18 injured and three dead on arrival in Kabul’s Emergency Hospital.

Moreover, in Afghanistan, the UN mission also condemned the attack and said, “Violence in #Afghanistan serves no purpose but prolonging the agony of more than 40 years of war. We stand in solidarity with the victims.”

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin addressed the press conference and said, “In the wake of the attack, the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan immediately lodged a serious representation with the Afghan interim government and asked the Afghan side to make every effort to search for and rescue Chinese nationals.”

Road collision in Mumbai results in two deaths two injuries

7-year-old killed, 1 injured while handling crude bomb in West Bengal

A country-made bomb detonated on Tuesday morning at Barrackpore, around 35 km north of Kolkata, killing a seven-year-old boy and badly injuring a ten-year-old after they mistaken it for a ball.

The Bhatpara State General Hospital received the injured child before sending him on to the Calcutta Medical College. Another unexploded crude bomb was found at the same location by police and the bomb disposal team of the Criminal Investigation Department. The bombs were tucked away in a bush next to the railroad tracks.

“The incident happened around 6:30 am and 7am on Tuesday. Locals said that two children were playing when the bomb exploded. They mistook the bomb as a ball. The police have started an investigation,” said a senior official of the Government Railway Police (GRP) from Naihati.

“My grandson woke up in the morning and went out to play along the railway tracks. As it was Kali Puja last night, he and his friend were trying to find out if there were any unburnt firecrackers which they may use later today. His hand was ripped apart in the explosion,” said the injured child’s grandmother.

Within the town’s industrial belt are a number of areas, including Kakinada, Bhatpara, and Jagatdal in the Lok Sabha district of Barrackpore. They have frequently been in the news because of political disputes between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Trinamool Congress, which is in power.

Arjun Singh, a state representative from the BJP from Barrackpore, joined the TMC earlier this year. In advance of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he had joined the BJP. Bombs were also thrown at Singh’s home in September 2021. Manish Shukla, a close friend and aide, was fatally shot in October 2020.

The incident on Tuesday sparked a political brawl, with the BJP accusing the state’s in charge TMC of failing to maintain law and order.

“Once can find bombs and firearms across West Bengal now. Once these were manufactured at Munger in Bihar, but now they are done here. All these will be used during the 2023 panchayat elections to silence the opposition. This proves how bloody the election could be,” said Sukanta Majumdar, BJP state president.

“There are rumours that Majumdar may not continue as the state BJP president for long, hence he is making such statements for limelight. The police are investigating. The number of such incidents have dropped over time in that area,” said Kunal Ghosh, TMC spokesperson.

UP: Teen lay bleeding, begged for help as men gathered around filming her

A teenage girl was found bleeding and injured on the grounds of a government guest home in the Tirwa neighbourhood of the district of Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj, as a group of men stood by filming rather than assisting her.

The tragic incident’s videos have been widely disseminated online.

One such video, a 24-second clip, shows the young girl weakly putting up her hand with what appear to be bloodstains on it while asking for assistance while lying on the ground. Although it can be heard that some of the males gathered nearby are phoning the police, nobody (on camera) appears to make an attempt to do so.

The girl only received medical assistance after local police arrived. Manoj Pandey, the policeman in charge of the local outpost, took her to a hospital in an auto rickshaw. The girl has since been referred to Kanpur for treatment.

The girl went out to the market on Sunday but did not return home, following which family members launched a search.

Superintendent of Police Kunwar Anupam Singh told PTI the girl may have been accompanied by an as yet unidentified male. Sexual assault or rape has not yet been confirmed, he added.

Initial CCTV footage from the guest house shows the girl talking to the unidentified male. “The identity of youth is being ascertained. Only after the reports, (can) it be said (if) the girl was raped or not,” Singh told PTI.

15 people killed and 25 injured when a Hyderabad-Gorakhpur bus collides with a truck in Rewa, MP

According to police, 15 people were killed and 25 were injured when a speeding bus collided with a truck in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district on Friday night.

The majority of the victims were from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The bus was travelling from Hyderabad to Gorakhpur.

“The accident took place at Sohagi hillock, 70 km from the headquarter, on Friday night. According to the injured, the driver lost control over the bus and it collided with a truck from behind,” said Rewa superintendent of police (SP), Navneet Bhasin.

The bodies were extracted using a JCB during the rescue operation. The injured have been taken to Rewa’s Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, he said.

According to the injured, they work as labourers in Hyderabad and were returning home to celebrate Diwali.

The bodies are being identified and will be sent to Gorakhpur, according to Rewa district collector Manoj Pushp.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, spoke with his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath about the rescue operation.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) tweeted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased in the tragic accident, and that the injured will receive Rs 50,000.
