Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was present during the parade.RCB’s historic victory, which was meant to be a cause for celebration, has now led to a disaster, one that will question the lack of security infrastructure we have in India. Ambulances could not reach injured people in the packed area, many were taken to facilities nearby.

The prominent actress from ‘Baahubali,’ who is under investigation for allegedly promoting the viewing of IPL matches on the Fairplay betting app, is scheduled to provide testimony before the Cyber Cell on April 29.

Sanjay Dutt’s involvement in the case has come to light, and he was summoned for questioning earlier this week. However, he requested a rescheduled date due to scheduling conflicts preventing him from attending.

According to the news source, Viacom suffered a loss of crores of rupees due to the illicit streaming.

The Maharashtra cyber police had previously interrogated Bollywood musician and rapper Badshah, as well as the managers of actors Sanjay Dutt and Jacqueline Fernandez, on suspicions of promoting the betting app and encouraging its usage for streaming cricket matches.

ABOUT THE CASE

The legal action arises from a First Information Report (FIR) filed in 2023 by the Viacom 18 group, accusing Fairplay of illicitly streaming certain IPL 2023 matches, with many actors endorsing and advertising the betting app.

Viacom18, the owner of VOOT, an OTT platform, and several television channels, found through its anti-piracy efforts in October 2021 that seven apps—Pikashow, Foxi, Vedu, Smart Player Lite, Film Plus, Tea TV, and Wow TV—were being utilized to illegally stream serials, reality shows, and other content from the Viacom18 network.

Kohli abstained from cricketing commitments to support his wife Anushka Sharma during the latter stages of her pregnancy. He revealed that the couple welcomed a baby boy named Akaay. After Akaay’s arrival, Kohli continued to prioritize family time but has now resumed his cricketing duties in preparation for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

Virat was seen at the airport upon his return to India to rejoin his franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. Earlier reports suggested that the top-order batsman would likely link up with his teammates in Bengaluru before the RCB ‘Unbox’ event. This event is set to take place in Bengaluru on March 19.

Royal Challengers Bangalore commenced their pre-tournament camp without their top player Virat Kohli, who is expected to join in a few days before the team kicks off its IPL campaign against reigning champions Chennai Super Kings on March 22.

The majority of domestic players assembled at the camp under the supervision of new head coach Andy Flower and Director of Cricket Mo Bobat. South Africa T20: Graeme Smith looking forward to seeing the country’s talent perform

Graeme Smith, the commissioner of South Africa T20, expressed his excitement about seeing South African talent in the tournament’s second season, which is modeled after the Indian Premier League (IPL). Being the first T20 league outside of India, SA20’s six local franchises are owned by the Indian Premier League. This year’s tournament, which is scheduled to take place from January 10 to February 10, will include six teams: the Durban Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, and Pretoria Capitals. In February of this year, Sunrisers Eastern Cape defeated Pretoria Capitals in the championship game to win the first season.

Ahead of the season, Smith talked about the tournament and told, “I am excited it always gets nervous at this time of the year, a lot of work goes into it. I am excited for a number of reasons, one from cricketing purposes: I think our six teams are looking extremely strong a strong balance of strong South African talent. Some outstanding international players are coming for season two and I think it is even stronger than season one. As League Commissioner, I look at the six teams; they look equally competitive so it looks set up well for exciting contests.”
