His remarks follow India’s decisive Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam terror attack.
</excerpt>

Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir has again invoked controversy by celebrating dead terrorists and upholding cross-border terrorism in Kashmir as a “legitimate struggle.” While speaking to cadets at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi, Munir reiterated Islamabad’s stance on Jammu & Kashmir while blaming India for escalating regional tensions.

Pakistan, despite serious provocations, has acted with maturity and restraint, and showed its commitment to the peace and stability of the region, and that has resulted in Pakistan emerging as a net regional stabilizer,” Munir stated.

Asim Munir Labeled Kashmir as “Jugular Vein” of Pakistan

Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s demand for a “peaceful and just solution” to the Kashmir conflict, citing United Nations resolutions and the “aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

His words reflect previous provocative statements at the Overseas Pakistani Convention in Islamabad last April. There, he had stated, “Our stance is absolutely clear, it was our jugular vein, it will be our jugular vein, we will not forget it. We will not leave our Kashmiri brothers in their heroic struggle.”

These words have come under fire again, as it seems that they are justifying terrorism in the name of political struggle.

India Retaliated with Exactness: Operation Sindoor

India responded with precision to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians by initiating Operation Sindoor, a precise military operation against terror infrastructure within Pakistani borders.

Operation Sindoor allegedly had three goals—military, political, and psychological—and all were met with great precision. Indian forces neutralized over 100 terrorists, including high-profile figures like Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf, and Mudasir Ahmed, without causing any civilian casualties.

Sophisticated Weapons Employed in Cross-Border Attacks

The Indian military showcased technological superiority in the course of Operation Sindoor, fielding SCALP cruise missiles, laser-guided bombs, and armed drones.

Apart from eliminating high-value targets, the operation also sent a powerful message about India’s capability and determination to protect its sovereignty and people.

Munir’s remarks have raised international criticism of Pakistan’s double game—appearing to support peace in public while promoting terrorist operations in Kashmir.

Indian authorities have consistently condemned Islamabad’s terrorism support, urging that such terminologies only undermine regional stability.

</excerpt>

Pakistan Army Chief and Field Marshal Asim Munir has again ratcheted up the temperature with India by reiterating his belligerent Kashmir war cry. Just days after describing Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein,” Asim Munir went a step further in a recent address, justifying terrorism as a “legitimate struggle.” Addressing the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi, Munir attributed the heightened hostilities to India without providing any proof.

He asserted Pakistan has exercised restraint while putting Islamabad forward as a “net regional stabiliser.” His statement comes in the aftermath of the Pakistan-sponsored Pahalgam terror attack that killed more than two dozen Indian tourists and led India to initiate a strong military and diplomatic counterattack.

Munir Defends Terror, Blames India

In his recent address, Asim Munir blamed India for escalating regional tensions. He alleged India had behaved provocatively and driven the region towards instability. He also labelled Pakistan’s reaction as mature and peaceful.

Asim Munir once more mentioned Kashmir, calling upon Pakistanis to respect the “sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers” and supported a resolution founded on UN resolutions.

All this despite Pakistan’s own violations of human rights and insurgencies in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and PoK. These areas are still neglected, with local inhabitants experiencing disappearances and a lack of access to basic facilities.

Jugular Vein Claim Fuels Hostility

Asim Munir had previously referred to Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein” during a speech to the Pakistani diaspora living overseas. He promised never to let go of the cause. A few days later, Pakistan-backed terrorists struck at civilians in Pahalgam.

India retaliated in a big way. It suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, giving Pakistan a crushing economic punch. It also initiated Operation Sindoor, pulverizing several terror launchpads within Pakistani borders.

India Responds with Force

After the Pahalgam attack, India and Pakistan fired across the border for four days. India attacked Pakistani airfields, softened enemy defenses, and shot down missiles and drones.

India’s response is consistent. Ever since the 2016 Uri attack, India has had a policy of retribution. From the Balakot airstrikes following Pulwama to surgical strikes, India has made it clear that it will not accept terrorism anymore.

Proxy War Continues

Pakistan cannot win a direct fight against India. Its army, under the command of Munir, depends on proxy war. This means funding terror outfits to bleed India incrementally. Be it from the 26/11 Mumbai attacks or Pahalgam, the plan is the same.

India now retaliates with power, establishing a “new normal.” Munir’s words only betray Pakistan’s hypocrisy—proclaiming peace while facilitating terror. His new Kashmir warning betrays desperation as well as defiance. But India is prepared to defend every inch of its land, by force if necessary.

Asim Munir Threatens India Again, Calls Pakistan a ‘Net Regional Stabiliser’

<excerpt>Asim Munir reignites Kashmir tensions with threats against India and claims of Pakistani restraint and regional stability.
</excerpt>

Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir has once again created tensions with India. Addressing the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi on Saturday, Asim Munir charged India with initiating conflict and attributing fault to India for disrupting regional peace. He threatened a “decisive response” to any future Indian intervention in Pakistan. He also called Pakistan a “net regional stabiliser,” asserting Islamabad had exercised “restraint and maturity” in the face of reported unprovoked Indian aggression.

Asim Munir rekindled the Kashmir conflict, terming it as Pakistan’s “jugular vein,” only days ahead of Pakistan-sponsored terrorists’ gruesome massacre in Pahalgam. The Indian reaction was to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty and conduct Operation Sindoor, which wrecked terror camps within Pakistan.

Asim Munir Blames India for Destabilising Region

While delivering his speech, Asim Munir mentioned that India has attacked Pakistan twice unprovoked. He blamed India for escalating tensions in South Asia and accused it of lacking “strategic foresight.” He threatened that Pakistan would retaliate vigorously if attacked again.

Asim Munir depicted Pakistan as a peace-loving country. He asserted, “Despite provocations, Pakistan showed restraint and maturity.” He asserted that Pakistan was dedicated to regional peace and stability.

Reviving Kashmir Agenda in Military Uniform

Asim Munir once again raised the issue of Kashmir. He stated that Pakistan would never forget the sacrifices of “Kashmiri brothers fighting against India’s illegal occupation.” He again reiterated Pakistan’s support for a resolution on the basis of United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

His words repeated his previous controversial statements in which he referred to Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein.” Addressing the Pakistani diaspora overseas, he had stated, “Kashmir is our jugular vein, it will remain our jugular vein; we will not forget it.”

Terror Attack Preceded by Threat, India Acts

Only a few days after the “jugular vein” remark, Pakistan-sponsored terrorists attacked in Pahalgam. More than two dozen male tourists were slaughtered in a chilling attack.

India hit back. New Delhi suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, giving Pakistan a big blow. Shortly afterwards, India conducted Operation Sindoor. The operation attacked and destroyed terror launchpads deep within Pakistani territory.

Strategic Maturity or Provocation in Uniform?

Asim Munir’s repeated remarks and thinly veiled threats contradict his claims of restraint. By blaming India while ignoring Pakistan’s own terror links, Munir undermines his peace narrative. His words only add fuel to an already fragile regional situation.

India, however, firmly denies any third-party mediation.
</excerpt>

US President Donald Trump has once again laid claim to brokering peace in several international disputes, including India-Pakistan, and claimed he merits a Nobel Peace Prize for it, but stated he will never get one.

In a lengthy message on his social media site Truth Social, Trump stated, “I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for this, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between India and Pakistan, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between Serbia and Kosovo, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for keeping Peace between Egypt and Ethiopia.”

He went on, “and I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for doing the Abraham Accords in the Middle East which, if all goes well, will be loaded to the brim with additional Countries signing on, and will unify the Middle East for the first time in ‘The Ages!’ No, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize no matter what I do, including Russia/Ukraine, and Israel/Iran, whatever those outcomes may be, but the people know, and that’s all that matters to me!”

Trump also alluded to what he had labeled as a “wonderful treaty” between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, highlighting his wider diplomatic engagement.

India Rejects Foreign Mediation, Reiterates Bilateral Stand

While Trump made claims to the contrary, the Indian government has firmly rejected any foreign interference in its bilateral affairs with Pakistan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi renewed India’s longstanding stance of rejecting third-party mediation in a recent telephonic discussion with Trump.

India asserts that no talk of foreign involvement took place during the increased tensions with Pakistan after the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. Modi supposedly informed Trump:

“India will never tolerate any kind of mediation in its relations with Pakistan, and no discussion at any level between India and the US took place on the proposed trade agreement, or American intervention, during the sequence of events that followed Operation Sindoor.”

India-Pakistan Tensions Eased via Military Dialogue

After the terror strike, India conducted targeted attacks on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. Pakistan tried to hit Indian military bases between May 8 and 10, but India retaliated in a big way.

Hostilities ceased on May 10 following the mutual understanding between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries. Indian officials reiterated that this ceasefire was the product of military-to-military diplomacy, not third-party intervention.

India’s position is in line with its steadfast foreign policy—solving bilateral issues within itself without interference from outside, no matter what the international claims are.

Authorities have recovered 10–12 terabytes of data from her devices as investigations into her links with Pakistani intelligence operatives continue.
</excerpt>

A court here on Monday remanded YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra to judicial custody after the end of her police remand in a case of alleged espionage.

The 33-year-old travel influencer was produced in the court. A police spokesperson said that they did not seek her further remand after which the court sent her to jail.

Meanwhile, data from Malhotra’s three mobile phones and a laptop, which had been sent for forensic examination, has been recovered, police sources said on Monday.

“Nearly 10-12 terabytes of data has been recovered. Further investigation in this regard is under progress,” they said.

After her arrest, the police had sent Malhotra’s three mobile phones and a laptop for forensic examination. Malhotra’s four bank accounts are also being examined.

The court had extended Malhotra’s police remand by four days when the YouTuber — arrested on suspicion of espionage — was last week produced before the court at the end of her five-day police remand.

Malhotra was among the 12 people arrested from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh over the past three weeks on suspicion of espionage, with investigators suspecting the presence of a Pakistan-linked spy network operating in north India.

The Hisar native ran a YouTube channel — “Travel with JO”. She was arrested at the New Aggarsain Extension recently and booked under provisions of the Official Secrets Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Hisar police had said that no evidence had emerged to indicate Malhotra had access to any military or defence related information.

But she was definitely in contact with some people, knowing that they were Pakistani intelligence operatives, they had said.

Police sources had said she was in touch with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a staffer at the Pakistani High Commission, since November 2023. India expelled Danish on May 13 for allegedly indulging in espionage.

The National Investigation Agency, Intelligence Bureau, and military intelligence officials have also questioned Malhotra.

Investigations have revealed that she visited Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, and some other countries.

She was also allegedly in touch with Danish during the four-day military conflict between India and Pakistan that followed the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, they had said.

.

Intended to symbolize victory over India, the blunder has raised serious questions about Pakistan’s military narrative and credibility.
</excerpt>

In yet another embarrassment for Islamabad pushing forward its fake propaganda of claiming military operation victory over India, various social media users in Islamabad and across the world, mocked the Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir for presenting a framed painting, which shows striking resemblance to an alleged Chinese military exercise, as a gift to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at a high-profile dinner event.

However, what caught the internet’s eye was a framed painting gifted by General Munir to Prime Minister Sharif.

Images released from the event showed the painting, which was touted as a depiction of the so-called military operation over India.

But sharp-eyed users on social media platform X were quick to point out that the image bore a striking resemblance to a four-year-old photograph from a Chinese military exercise.

Several users claimed that the image was lifted directly from publicly available visuals of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army drills, raising questions about the authenticity of Pakistan’s portrayal of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos.

“Apparently the Pakistan Army Chief has gifted PM Shehbaz Sharif a dated Chinese military photo as a souvenir to illustrate Pak Army attack against India. So not just a fake victory narrative but also a fake photo with it. What a joke @OfficialDGISPR,” one social media user on X said.

“They can’t even produce original visuals of their own military operation,” a second user in a post on X quipped.

“In another embarrassing moment, Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif gifts a morphed photo of a Chinese PHL-03 rocket launcher downloaded from Google Images to Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir. (smiling emoji).#pakistan #asimmunir #operationsindoor #India #viral #funny #globalnews #trending #news,” another social media user wrote on Instagram.

Criticism has also mounted over the timing of Munir’s promotion.

Traditionally, the rank of Field Marshal is reserved for military leaders who steer their nation to undeniable victory in war.

But in this case, no such conflict has occurred, and sources suggest that during the alleged “Operation Sindoor,” it was India that inflicted damage on Pakistan’s airbases and neutralised its drones and missiles.

A high-profile dinner hosted by Pakistan Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, has stirred fresh controversy online.

The event, meant to honour the political leadership, the armed forces’ “steadfast commitment,” and the “indomitable spirit” of the people of Pakistan as seen during “Marka-e-Haq – Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos,” became the subject of widespread mockery on social media.

The dinner was attended by top political and military leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani, and others.

Indian defence systems have thwarted Pakistan’s military response following Operation Sindoor, successfully intercepting most of the drones and unmanned aerial vehicles launched from across the border.

Despite these realities, the Pakistani narrative around Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos was presented as a patriotic high point at the dinner.

But the discovery of the Chinese-origin image has now undermined the credibility of the narrative and made the entire event a subject of public mockery.

As of now, neither the Pakistan Army nor the government has issued any clarification regarding the viral image or the backlash over Munir’s promotion.

</excerpt>

The legendary bout between India’s Neeraj Chopra and Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem has long fascinated the athletics community. Things, though, now seem to have taken a very different turn, with the rapport between the two Olympic medalists increasingly strained, driven primarily by growing geopolitical tensions between their nations.

Talking before the Doha Diamond League, Neeraj Chopra spelled out his connection with Arshad Nadeem, saying, “I would like to clear that I don’t have a very special relationship with Nadeem – we were never really close friends. But due to the present scenario, things are not going to be the same. That being said, if one addresses me respectfully, I always respond similarly.”

Neeraj’s comments came after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, that killed 26 people and rekindled hostilities across the Line of Control. In response, India initiated Operation Sindoor, targeting terror outfits in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

Arshad Refuses to Comment, Vows Support to Pakistan Army

Reporters pressed Arshad Nadeem to react to Neeraj’s Thursday comments, and he responded with subdued yet nationalistic remarks. “I would not like to say anything about Neeraj due to the current standoff with India. I belong to a village, and I can say that my family and I will always support our army,” Nadeem said in the media while departing for the Asian Athletics Championships.

Arshad keeps quiet on Neeraj’s remarks.

Pakistan’s Javelin Thrower and Olympic Gold Medalist Arshad Nadeem refused to comment on India’s Neeraj Chopra’s recent remarks.

“I would like to clarify that I don’t have a very strong relationship with Arshad. We were never really close… pic.twitter.com/QfMDG2vhFP

Social Media Backlash and the Postponed Classic

This changing dynamic is also in the aftermath of backlash against Neeraj Chopra, who himself had earlier invited Nadeem to compete in the now-postponed Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru. The present atmosphere politicized the event, even though Neeraj Chopra extended the invitation before the Pahalgam terror attack.

Interestingly, Arshad Nadeem surpassed Neeraj Chopra at the Paris Olympics 2024 with an outstanding throw of 92.97 metres, taking home the gold medal. Their off-field rivalry started at the 2018 Asian Games and carried on during the Commonwealth Games.

</excerpt>

PM Narendra Modi declared in a speech in Rajasthan on Thursday, April 22, that Pakistan would no longer receive water from rivers over which India has rights, intensifying the India-Pakistan water dispute. This statement was made following a terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed 26 innocent lives.

India suspended the long-standing Indus Waters Treaty and accused Pakistan of being involved in the attack. Tensions have since escalated between the nuclear-armed neighbors, despite their recent agreement on a tenuous ceasefire following the most devastating military conflict in nearly three decades.

PM Modi Sends Bold Message to Pakistan

PM Modi gives a strong warning while speaking in Rajasthan, Pakistan must pay a heavy price for every terror strike. He said, “Pakistan’s economy and army will pay for it.” A month after the April 22 attack, which primarily killed Hindu tourists, the harsh remarks were made.

Bikaner, Rajasthan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, “…If Pakistan continues to export terrorists, it will be left begging for every penny. Pakistan will not get a single drop of water that belongs to India. Playing with the blood of Indians will cost Pakistan dearly. This is… pic.twitter.com/7ftbYBj9hM

— IANS (@ians_india) May 22, 2025

India accuses Pakistan of supporting the attack, a charge Islamabad vehemently disputes.

Indus Waters Treaty Suspension Adds Fuel

An important turning point was India’s decision to halt the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, which was mediated by the World Bank. Nearly 80% of Pakistan’s farms are supported by water from three rivers that originate in India, thanks to the treaty.

The long-term effects of the suspension are still unknown, despite Pakistan’s Finance Minister’s assertion that there would be no immediate harm.

On May 10, both countries agreed to a ceasefire despite recent military escalations. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar affirmed that forces have repositioned and that there is currently no exchange.

However, he issued a warning that India will continue its operations. “We will hit the terrorists where they are if they are in Pakistan,” Jaishankar said in an interview with the Dutch news agency NOS.

Long History of Conflict Over Kashmir

Since gaining independence in 1947, India and Pakistan have clashed quite often. They fought three wars, two of which were over Kashmir. Although both nations control some areas of the region, they both fully claim it. Islamabad is still being accused by New Delhi of harboring Islamist militants. However, Pakistan denies supporting separatists in Kashmir.

After the attack in Kashmir, India isolated Pakistan in several ways. These include halting visa services, halting trade, and closing land borders. Now, Islamabad is under even more stress because of Modi’s water threat.

The growing animosity highlights the fleeting peace between India and Pakistan. With trade, diplomacy, and water at stake, the region closely monitors the escalating tensions.

“Operation Sindoor Continues — We Will Strike Terrorists in Pakistan,” Says Jaishankar

<excerpt>External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar affirms that Operation Sindoor remains active, sending a clear message to terrorists in Pakistan that India will respond decisively to any future terror attacks while maintaining an agreed ceasefire with Pakistan.
</excerpt>

India’s external affairs minister, S. Jaishankar, has assured that Operation Sindoor is in full swing as an assertive warning to terrorists based in Pakistan. The operation, initiated on May 7 against the brutal April 22 terror strike at Pahalgam that murdered 26 civilians, focuses on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistani-occupied regions. Jaishankar emphasized that India will act firmly if another similar attack occurs again, reaffirming India’s new offensive strategy towards cross-border terrorism.

In an interview with Dutch broadcaster NOS, Jaishankar reiterates that the May 10 agreement to suspend military operations was a bilaterally agreed-upon understanding after Indian strikes made the Pakistani military settle for a ceasefire. Interestingly, he ruled out any role played by the United States in facilitating this understanding or in future negotiations with Pakistan, making India’s position clear on direct bilateral talks.

Operation Sindoor: A Message Beyond Ceasefire

India’s precision strikes as part of Operation Sindoor targeted nine terror locations selected by the United Nations. The strikes were directed at destroying terror infrastructure that conducted the Pahalgam massacre on behalf of Pakistan-based LeT proxy, The Resistance Front. Jaishankar emphasized, “The operation continues because there is a clear message in that operation – that if there are acts of the kind we saw on April 22, there will be a response, that we will hit the terrorists.”

If the terrorists are in Pakistan, we will hit them where they are. So, there is a message in continuing the operation but continuing the operation is not the same as firing on each other. Right now, there is an agreed cessation of fighting and military action,” he added.

While the operation continues, Jaishankar explained that to continue the operation does not necessarily imply continuous firing from the army. Rather, there is an abiding agreement of cessation from active combat. In response to whether the operation was in cold storage, he replied, “Put whatever word you want to, but I can tell you the message is clear and the message is act.”

Strong action by the Indian government was required following the savage terror attack that introduced elements of religion deliberately to cause unrest. Jaishankar commented, “The combat was initiated by a very savage terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 were killed before their families, after ascertaining their religion.” He continued, “Deliberately, there was an element of religion brought in. On the Pakistani side, you have a Pakistani leadership, driven by a far-right religious orientation.”

Bilateral Settlement and India’s Sovereign Status

The ferocity of the confrontation between India and Pakistan continued for four days, with drones, missiles, and long-range artillery. On May 10, however, the turning point, India struck eight Pakistani airbases, making them non-operational by targeting the runways and command structures. This firm retaliation forced the Pakistani army to accede to the demand to stop firing. Jaishankar stated, “Now what has happened is that, at the moment, there is no firing and there’s been some repositioning of forces accordingly.”

Despite international appeals to cool down, Jaishankar reiterated that India managed things bilaterally without any external agency. He averred, “We made one thing very clear to everybody who spoke to us. If the Pakistanis want to stop fighting, they need to tell us. We need to hear it from them. Their general has to call up our general and say this. And that is what happened.”

Furthermore, India strictly confines its conversation with Pakistan to halting terrorism and securing the return of illegally occupied Kashmir regions. Jaishankar strongly declared, “The borders in Kashmir are not on the table because Kashmir belongs to India.”

Security and Economic Prosperity: Two Sides of the Same Coin

Jaishankar also addressed concerns that border tensions hinder India’s economic development. He stated, “Our security issues were much more threatening than yours [Europe’s], so we had to prioritize security. You don’t prioritize between security and economic growth. Today, you are realizing that they are from the same coin.”

India’s policy also indicates that ensuring national security is a necessary condition for economic growth and stability that can endure. The government’s response also conveys that it will not accept acts that endanger its citizens or sovereignty.

This tit-for-tat move escalates already strained relations after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack and India’s retaliatory Operation Sindoor.
</excerpt>

India and Pakistan have engaged in diplomatic expulsions this week, escalating tensions that have smoldered since the Pahalgam terror attack. India on Wednesday expelled a Pakistani official from its New Delhi high commission for alleged espionage activity. The Ministry of External Affairs designated the official as persona non grata and requested he depart India within 24 hours.

Pakistan responded quickly by expelling an Indian high commission employee on Thursday. The Chargé d’Affaires of India was summoned by Islamabad’s foreign ministry and told that Indian officials should not abuse their diplomatic immunity. Pakistan also ordered the Indian official to leave within 24 hours.

Operation Sindoor Fuels Hostility

The diplomatic moves follow Indian military operation Sindoor, a targeted attack on May 7 on nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. India conducted the operation in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The Indian Army termed the attacks as targeted and necessary to neutralize imminent threats from across the border.

Pakistan, in reply, tried to retaliate by attacking Indian military installations on May 8, 9, and 10. Indian forces, however, foiled the attempts, keeping casualties and damage nil. India’s tough military stance highlighted its resolve to deter further aggression.

Ceasefire Agreement Brings Temporary Relief

Following three consecutive days of escalation, their highest military officials engaged in direct talks on May 10. They agreed on a ceasefire, suspending all military action across land, sea, and air. Although this action provides short-term relief, the underlying mistrust continues to be visible in the diplomatic expulsions.

The recent trends confirm the vulnerability of Indo-Pak relations. Although the military clashes have ceased for the moment, the diplomatic spillover still threatens to derail bilateral relations. The reciprocating expulsions show just how much the Pahalgam terror attack has shaken regional dynamics and how easily tensions can escalate without ongoing dialogue.

</excerpt>

The recent arrest of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra on charges of spying for Pakistan has stirred up painful memories among India’s security establishment. Her case, with digital spying and supposed intelligence collection while masquerading as a social media influencer, recalls one of the most shocking betrayals in recent Indian times: Madhuri Gupta, a senior Indian diplomat who was arrested in 2010 for passing on sensitive information to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Though the tools and channels are different, the security threat is eerily the same.

Madhuri Gupta: The Traitor Diplomat

Madhuri Gupta’s tale is a gripping illustration of how faith can be broken from the inside. A graduate of Jawaharlal Nehru University and a veteran Indian Foreign Service (IFS) diplomat, Gupta was the Second Secretary (Press and Information) at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. Well-versed in Urdu and ideally placed to keep an eye on the media in Pakistan, she was entrusted with some of India’s deepest secrets. But behind this trusted cover, she cheated her country by supplying extremely sensitive information to Pakistan’s intelligence system.

In early 2010, Indian intelligence started suspecting a leak in the Islamabad mission. Intelligence Bureau Director Rajiv Mathur then launched a secret operation, providing Gupta with false leads to follow any unauthorized leaks. The information soon cropped up with Pakistani contacts, affirming suspicions of spying.

The Honeytrap That Undermined a Nation

Gupta’s own investigations later confirmed that her demise was based on a vulnerable emotional side. She had become infatuated with a younger Pakistani man, Jamshed — who turned out to be an ISI operative. This “honeytrap” played on her affections and trust, making her an unwitting agent of Pakistan’s intelligence agency.

Her treachery was wholesale. Gupta shared key information regarding India’s foreign policy, defense activities, and names of intelligence agents. To her shame, she exposed intelligence regarding the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, one of India’s worst moments. Email addresses established by ISI handlers and communication equipment seized during the investigation highlighted the hierarchical nature of her spying.

Intelligence Collection Beyond Diplomatic Cover

One of the most startling incidents involved Gupta’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir, which she misrepresented as being for a wedding. Rather, she recced the hydroelectric infrastructure of the state — an interest of strategic importance for Pakistan. This compromise laid bare weak points that could have had disastrous implications for Indian security.

Gupta had frequent contact with ISI officials Mubshar Raza Rana and Jamshed, sending sensitive information from her office and home in Islamabad from the end of 2009 to her April 2010 arrest.

Arrest and Judicial Penalties

Madhuri Gupta was called to New Delhi in April 2010 under the guise of watching SAARC summit preparations. She was arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell and charged under the Official Secrets Act. The court held her guilty of criminal conspiracy and a number of offenses under the Indian Penal Code. It underscored the seriousness of her betrayal, “She was in a position of great trust, and she did something which brought disrepute to the country.” The court dismissed her appeal for leniency, highlighting the serious harm to national security.

Gupta spent 21 months at Tihar Jail before being granted bail. In 2018, she was officially convicted but permitted to appeal the judgment. She died in 2021 aged 64, leaving a legacy of prudence to the country.

A Stark Reminder in the Digital Age

Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest brings this cautionary anecdote to life again. While Gupta used backroom diplomatic corridors, Malhotra is accused of using cyber space for collating and disseminating information. This change from the backrooms of diplomacy to the space where the social media dominates is indicative of how espionage evolves according to new times.

The central threat, however, is the same. Whether in the form of direct links to sensitive government processes or indirect cyber-space listening and persuasion, espionage continues to test India’s national security.

While authorities probe Malhotra’s reported actions, Gupta’s tale is a somber reminder: even trusted insiders can betray. Vigilance is critical. India needs to harden its countermeasures against the latest espionage techniques so that diplomats, as well as online influencers like Gupta, do not become instruments of aggression against the interests of the country.

Officials said on Tuesday that Malhotra, in her interrogation, admitted to having been in touch with Ehsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish, a Pakistani official at the High Commission, from November 2023 to March 2025.

Police believe Danish actively collaborated to groom Malhotra as an intelligence asset, which is a strong indicator of espionage activities masquerading as social media influence.

Several Devices of Jyoti Malhotra Seized for Forensic

Hisar Police spokesman Vikas Kumar disclosed, “She confessed to her direct communication with Danish during this period.” Malhotra was also in touch with a few other YouTube influencers, which suggests a potential wider network of influence.

Police have taken into custody Malhotra’s three mobile phones, laptop, and two phones of Harkirat Singh, IT in-charge of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC), for forensic analysis to find out the extent of these connections.

NIA and IB Conduct Aggressive Interrogation with Jyoti Malhotra

The interrogation involved central agencies such as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB), targeting Malhotra’s suspected connections to Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs). Based on a senior Hisar police official, who preferred anonymity, “She has multiple bank accounts, and there have been numerous transactions. Analyzing the financial data will take time.”

This financial probe is indicative of the extent of the investigation and the probable funding channels that could feed the espionage activities.

Far-reaching International Travels Under the Lens

The investigators are also analyzing Malhotra’s long history of international travel. According to records, she applied for her passport in 2018, which is current until 2028, and has traveled to nations such as Pakistan, China, Dubai, Thailand, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Indonesia.

These trips present a key part of the jigsaw puzzle, potentially connecting her movements with intelligence collection and communication.

Legal Cases and Broader Spy Network

At present, police intend to bring Jyoti Malhotra in front of a local court on Wednesday to request an extension of her remand for further interrogation. Malhotra’s arrest is all part of a larger crackdown on a Pakistan-based spy ring in northern India, with 12 people being arrested over the past fortnight in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

</excerpt>

In a dramatic twist, Haryana Police detained popular YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra from Hisar on charges of spying for Pakistan. Famous for her travel vlog channel Travel with JO, Malhotra had 3.77 lakh subscribers on YouTube and 1.33 lakh followers on Instagram. But investigators now reveal that Pakistani intelligence operatives secretly employed her and used her channel to spread foreign propaganda.

Jyoti Malhotra was arrested soon after her photos went viral on the internet with a man who had made a cake delivery to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi in the wake of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.

The video of his cake delivery went viral after the attack. Twitter users made the connection, as the same man featured in one of Malhotra’s videos on YouTube. Being Political’s X (formerly Twitter) post assisted in stoking public interest and outrage.

Do you remember this video?

When an employee of Pakistan High Commission brought a cake the next day of Pahalgam attack.

This is the same person who was seen with Pak spy Jyoti Malhotra.#JyotiMalhotra pic.twitter.com/lgnDBRBjGD

Espionage Trail Behind the Lens

As per the FIR, Malhotra, in her questioning, had confessed to having traveled to Pakistan in 2023 on a group tour. She met Ahsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish, there and stayed in touch with him on WhatsApp and other sources. On another visit, following Ahsan’s recommendation, she met Ali Ahsan, who introduced her to officials of Pakistani intelligence and security agencies.

The person who brought cake to Pakistan High Commission on next day of Pahalgam Attack is also seen in video of Pakistani Spy Jyoti Malhotra. pic.twitter.com/OgFun57zAD

— Incognito (@Incognito_qfs) May 19, 2025

After this meeting, according to police, Malhotra started passing on classified Indian army information to her Pakistani handlers. She communicated in secret using end-to-end encrypted apps WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat. She even disguised contact numbers—she saved Shahbaz’s number under the alias ‘Jatt Randhawa’ to avoid arousing suspicion.

Secret Influence in a Networked World

Investigators believe Pakistani handlers instructed Malhotra to post content on social media that painted Pakistan in a good light. They did this to shape public opinion and build trust between the influencer and her audience. The FIR accuses Malhotra of doing it on purpose rather than accidentally trying to mislead the authorities and function below the radar of surveillance.

This case doesn’t merely involve individual wrongdoing—it shows how espionage agents are now turning social media platforms into tools of spying. As influencer society increases, the distinction between content and clandestine propaganda becomes perilously thin.

</excerpt>

In clear acts of bravery and valour, the armed forces safeguarded many cities in the border states of India during the recent conflict with Pakistan, which witnessed drone attacks and another form of air assault that were intercepted and destroyed before they could destroy civil establishments.

The Indian Army’s Air defence systems played a critical role in repelling Pakistan’s misadventures. The Army on Monday showcased a demonstration of how Indian Air Defence systems, including AKASH missile system, L-70 Air Defence Guns, saved the Golden Temple in Amritsar and cities of Punjab from Pakistani missile and drone attacks.

Major General Kartik C Seshadri, GOC (General Officer Commanding) 15 Infantry Division, said that the Indian army had anticipated Pakistan’s move to target its military installations along with civilian establishments here, including religious places such as the Golden Temple, which was the prime target according to information received from the intelligence.

“Knowing that the Pak Army does not have any legitimate targets, we anticipated that they would target Indian military installations, civilian targets, including religious places. Of these, the Golden Temple appeared to be the most prominent. We mobilised additional modern air defence assets to give a holistic air defence umbrella cover to Golden Temple,” Major General Seshadri said.

He stated that Pakistan engaged in an air assault with aerial weapons, including drones and long-range missiles, targeting the Golden Temple, which was “thwarted” by the army personnel, who remained prepared for such situations and attacks.

“On 8th May early morning, in the hours of darkness, Pakistan carried out a massive air assault with unmanned aerial weapons, primarily drones and long-range missiles. We were fully prepared since we had anticipated this, and our braveheart and alert army air defence gunners thwarted Pakistan Army’s nefarious designs and shot down all drones and missiles targeted at the Golden Temple. Thus, not allowing even a scratch to come on our holy Golden Temple,” Major General Seshadri said.

The GOC 15 Infantry Division explained in detail the consequences of the Pahalgam terror attack, which prompted the launch of Operation Sindoor, where India attacked nine terror camps deep inside Pakistan’s territory, resulting in aggression from the Pakistani side.

“Consequent to the Pak Army-sponsored dastardly terrorist attack on innocent tourists, both domestic and international, the nation’s anger under able leadership took the form of Operation Sindoor, wherein befitting punitive strikes were carried out on exclusive terror targets. Nine targets were hit. Of the nine targets, seven were exclusively destroyed by the Indian Army,” Major General Seshadri told ANI.

The Major General said that the armed forces targeted many places with “absolute precision” during Operation Sindoor, striking areas like Muridke and Bahawalpur, which house the headquarters of terrorist organisations.

“Of these (nine) targets, Muridke, which is in proximity to Lahore, houses the Lashkar-e-Tayyaba headquarters and also the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) headquarters at Bahawalpur, which were struck with absolute precision. Soon after the strikes, we issued a statement clarifying that we intentionally did not target any Pakistani military or civilian infrastructure,” he added.

India’s Air Defence Systems proved their prowess at the height of the tensions between the two neighbours, intercepting numerous drones, missiles, micro UAVs, and loitering munitions, emerging as a globally actionable defence asset.

</excerpt>

In a shocking and unprecedented public acknowledgment, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that Indian ballistic missiles hit Nur Khan Airbase and several other targets in the pre-dawn hours of May 10. This unprecedented statement by a Pakistani head of government adds credibility to India’s assertions of having successfully conducted Operation Sindoor, a synchronized retaliatory campaign unleashed in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Midnight Call of PM Shehbaz Sharif

In a public speech in Islamabad, Shehbaz Sharif elaborated on being given a secure call by Pakistan Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir at 2:30 AM. “In the intervening night of May 9-10, at 2:30 AM, General Asif Munir phoned me on a secure line and informed me that India had fired its ballistic missiles. He mentioned that one has struck the Nur Khan airbase and others in other locations,” he mentioned.

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif himself admits that General Asim Munir called him at 2:30am to inform him that India had bombed Nur Khan Air Base and several other locations. Let that sink in — the Prime Minister was woken up in the middle of the night with news of strikes deep inside… pic.twitter.com/b4QbsF7xJh

— Amit Malviya (@amitmalviya) May 16, 2025

The Indian Air Force previously struck the Nur Khan Airbase—an important strategic installation between Rawalpindi and Islamabad—during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

BJP’s Reaction on Shehbaz Sharif

Responding to Sharif’s revelation, BJP leader Amit Malviya posted on X, “Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif himself admits that General Asim Munir called him at 2:30 am to tell him India had bombed Nur Khan Air Base and several other targets. Let that sink in – the Prime Minister was awakened in the dead of the night with news of attacks deep within Pakistan. This says volumes about # the extent, precision, and audacity of #OperationSindoor.”

Operation Sindoor, initiated on 7th May, was India’s immediate reaction against the Pahalgam attack that resulted in the death of 26 Indian nationals. The operation focused on decimating terrorist networks and strategic military centers within Pakistan and PoK.

Scope of Indian Strikes

Government reports disclosed that the Indian military, the Air Force, the Army, and Navy, launched coordinated attacks in at least 11 strategic targets. These were air bases, radar facilities, and communications centers at Chaklala (Nur Khan), Sargodha, Jacobabad, Bholari, and Skardu.

India’s intelligence networks also picked up high-alert communications within Pakistan’s military system, signaling panic and increased anxiety about nuclear installation security. The authorities put the Strategic Plans Division at Rawalpindi on maximum alert.

Escalation and Ceasefire

After Indian strikes, Pakistan responded with artillery shelling and drone attacks across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Gujarat. India responded by targeting and destroying several Pakistani radar facilities.

Fearing things would get out of hand, Pakistan reportedly reached out to the United States. Later on May 10 at 15:35 IST, Pakistan’s DGMO Major General Kashif Abdullah made a hotline call to India’s DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri later confirmed the conversation.

India and Pakistan subsequently agreed to suspend all military operations on land, sea, and air by the evening of May 10. Yet, Indian radars continued to spot several Pakistani drones breaching the ceasefire later.

India Holds Its Ground

In response, India replied quickly. Subsequently, Foreign Secretary Misri denounced the Pakistani drone violations and firmly reiterated India’s readiness for any further provocation. He also reiterated the ongoing suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, highlighting India’s strong position post-Pahalgam.

In the wider geopolitical drama, Prime Minister Sharif’s blunt acknowledgement is a turning point of great importance. It highlights India’s increased military assertiveness as well as Pakistan’s domestic weakness. For once, the fog of war has cleared, disclosing an instant of unusual clarity in the subcontinent’s shadow war.

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh gave a strong message at Bhuj airbase on May 16. He indicated that Operation Sindoor, which began on May 7 to target terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, is still far from over. Rajnath Singh referred to the initial strikes as a “trailer” and stated that the “full picture” will be revealed at the appropriate time. This reflects that India is ready and watchful and will take further action against terror activities.

The Defence Minister underscored the success of the operation that destroyed nine terror targets. The Indian Air Force was also hailed by him for demonstrating to the world that India’s war policy and technology have evolved. According to Rajnath Singh, this operation symbolizes a paradigm shift from surviving terror attacks and merely reacting to retaliating with strength and accuracy.

India’s New War Policy and Military Strength

Rajnath Singh explained that the Indian Air Force not only showed military power, but also a new mindset. The destruction of terror camps and some Pakistani air bases indicate that India has enhanced its military muscle. He stated, “The whole world has seen how you attacked nine terrorist camps on Pakistani soil.” This clearly indicates that India will firmly respond to any aggression.

He commended the Indian military spirit and thanked them in the name of the country. Rajnath Singh quoted, “Naya Bharat ab sahan nahi karta, balki wah palat kar jawab deta hai” (The new India no longer tolerates but strikes back). It reflects India’s strong will to protect its sovereignty.

Concerns Over IMF Aid to Pakistan

Rajnath Singh also criticized the recent $1 billion financial support package given by the International Monetary Fund to Pakistan. He warned that Islamabad might utilize the funds to finance terror infrastructure against India.

Rajnath Singh called on the IMF to reconsider giving money to Pakistan, emphasizing that the world needs to grasp the dangers involved. “The world needs to understand the dangers involved,” he said.

Michael Rubin, a well-known U.S. military analyst from the American Enterprise Institute, strongly criticized Pakistan for quickly seeking a ceasefire after suffering heavy losses from India’s major airstrikes. He said Pakistan “went running like a scared dog with its tail between its legs” after its military suffered severe damage.

Rubin also questioned the Trump administration’s decision to support a $1 billion IMF bailout for Pakistan, despite the country’s long history of supporting terrorism. According to The Times of India, Rubin said, “By sending money to Pakistan, the IMF is effectively bailing out China as well. Pakistan has become a satrapy of China. Its Gwadar port was the first pearl in China’s string, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has left Islamabad $40 billion in debt.”

Heavy losses for Pakistan’s air force

Rubin stated that Pakistan’s military was unable to hide the scale of its defeat. “There’s no way Pakistan’s military can hide the fact that they didn’t just lose, but lost very badly,” he said in a video shared with media. The video also addressed Pakistan’s failed propaganda efforts after Indian airstrikes hit critical military locations.

Several reports confirmed that the Indian Air Force targeted 11 Pakistan Air Force bases. These strikes caused major damage and destroyed around 20% of Pakistan’s air force infrastructure. At first, Pakistan claimed that India’s statements were exaggerated, but satellite images later proved that the damage was real. International news outlets have now begun reporting the true extent of the destruction.

Operation Sindoor: India targets terror networks

On May 8, India launched Operation Sindoor, a large-scale operation involving precision airstrikes on terrorist camps inside Pakistan. Indian forces hit nine important sites in both Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. These locations included key hubs in Bahawalpur and Muridke—areas known to shelter terror groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. High-ranking terrorists were killed in the attacks.

This bold action raised tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries. In response, Pakistan tried to launch missile and drone attacks on India. However, all these attempts were blocked by India’s advanced air defence systems.

India’s military success and China’s failed support

India’s airstrikes not only destroyed terror camps but also damaged Pakistan’s military bases and radar stations. Interestingly, India’s fighter jets managed to evade Pakistani defence systems that were supplied by China. This shows the weakness of Chinese-made technology and the strength of India’s military strategy.

Rubin’s remarks underline how Pakistan’s ties with China, including deep financial and military dependence, may have limited its ability to defend itself. His comments have also sparked debate over whether international bodies like the IMF should continue supporting a country accused of harbouring terrorists.

In the end, India’s operation not only dealt a major blow to Pakistan’s terror network but also sent a strong message to countries backing Islamabad.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Bhuj signals India’s vigilance even as DGMOS of both countries prepare for fresh talks.
</excerpt>

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Bhuj Air Force Station in Gujarat today, sending a strong message of vigil and showing support for the defence forces. The visit follows closely on his heels after he met Indian Army troops at the Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, yesterday.

The Bhuj Airbase, in particular, was among the major military bases attacked by the Pakistan army last week during rising cross-border tensions.

DGMOs to Resume Talks Amid Fragile Peace

In a warily hopeful turn of events, India and Pakistan have mutually decided to extend their ceasefire accord until May 18, sources said. The Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations are likely to meet in a new round of talks soon to review the ground situation along the Line of Control (Loc) and other borders.

A top Indian Army officer said, “Following the agreement between the two DGMOs on the 10th of May 2025, it has been decided to maintain the confidence-building measures to lower the level of alertness. As the situation further develops, we shall let you know.”

Backdrop: Tensions Triggered by Pahalgam Attack

The April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, which killed 26 Indian civilians, prompted the military and diplomatic buildup. The perpetrators, identified as associated with Pakistan-based extremist groups, conducted a coordinated and religiously inspired attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack saw widespread outrage and rekindled simmering tensions between the two nuclear neighbours.

In retaliation, the Indian military launched Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of May 7 and 8, targeting terror launch pads across the Line of Control and deep inside Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (Pok). The operation marked a significant escalation, leading to a series of strikes and counter-strikes that pushed the two nations to the brink.

Ceasefire Reinstated—But Fragile

Last week, both sides agreed to stop all firing and military operations on land, air, and sea with immediate effect. But the ceasefire did not last long, as Pakistan allegedly breached the terms within hours by firing the latest round of hostilities. Despite the violation, both countries have now extended the ceasefire and indicated a willingness to resume talks.

India Balances Vigilance with Diplomacy

While India remains committed to strengthening its defensive stance, as marked by forward base visit of Rajnath Singh, it also remains willing to explore diplomatic options. The proposed DGMO-level talks are likely to address ground realities and modalities to continue the ceasefire at least in the short run.

However, the situation is still volatile. The Indian security establishment will not allow its guard to come down, particularly in light of the trend of ceasefire violations and persisting attempts at infiltration across the Loc.

In a sharp display of mimicry, Pakistan replicated India’s every move after the devastating Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. When India went in for Operation Sindoor to destroy nine terror camps, Islamabad sought to emulate India’s military and diplomatic stance point-for-point.

From Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to troops to replicating bans on YouTube channels, Pakistan emulated India almost step-by-step. The trend indicates not only a reactive foreign policy but a coordinated attempt to change its global image—by emulating its neighbour.

The Victory Lap: Photo-ops with soldiers

PM Narendra Modi went to Adampur Air Base in Punjab following the successful completion of Operation Sindoor. There, he met with soldiers and took widely shared photos. The next day, Shehbaz Sharif went to Pasrur Cantonment in Sialkot and took similar shots with Pakistani soldiers.

Interestingly, Adampur was among the bases Pakistan had falsely asserted to have targeted using Chinese-made JF-17 fighter jets. But India’s S-400 missile system at Adampur is visuals that dispel those claims.

Treaties on hold

Following the verification of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba’s connection to the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 tourists’ lives, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty. The 1960 treaty had regulated water sharing in six rivers. Pakistan termed the action an “act of war”.

Islamabad, in retaliation, suspended all bilateral treaties with India, including the Simla Agreement and the nuclear safety agreement.

High-level security meetings: CCS vs NSC

India’s PM had convened a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting immediately following the attack. Pakistan’s government followed suit, convening its National Security Committee (NSC) shortly afterward. The terminology and statements that followed mirrored India’s behavior, outrightly demonstrating Pakistan’s reactive approach.

On April 30th, PM Modi gave Indian troops complete liberty to decide the time, manner, and target of response. Barely days after, Pakistan’s NSC empowered its army to respond at a “time, place, and manner of their choice.” Sharif employed the very words when he met senior brass.

Copy-paste media bans

India blocked 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including prominent channels such as Dawn and Geo News, for disseminating disinformation. Pakistan followed suit on May 7, blocking 16 Indian YouTube channels and 32 websites. Even the figures matched.

From describing its retaliation as “precise and restrained” to mimicking India’s diplomatic parlance, Pakistan’s leadership and military replicated the narrative pattern of India. In spite of this, Pakistan could not conceal the fact that it had struck Indian civilian infrastructure.

Pakistan’s mimicry is more than a sign of insecurity. It is an indication of the lack of innovative strategy in the light of India’s stern and measured reaction. The issue now is—how long can Pakistan sustain this farce without losing face?

</excerpt>

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has raised a global red alert on Pakistan’s nuclear weapons. Addressing his trip to J&K, Rajnath Singh asked if these weapons are safe in the hands of an “irresponsible and rogue state.” Rajnath Singh urged the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to intervene and monitor Pakistan’s nuclear stock.

His assertion represents a gravely heightened state of security fears in India since the recent ceasefire and focuses world attention anew on global nuclear management.

Rajnath Singh Raises Alarm from Srinagar

When speaking to Indian troops in Srinagar, Rajnath Singh sent a clear message. He posed the question to the world as to whether the world could trust Pakistan with nuclear weapons. He stated, “Today, from the land of Srinagar, I want to pose a question before the whole world: Are nuclear weapons secure in the hands of such an irresponsible and rogue state?”

His comments resonated with increasing Indian fears of the political turmoil and terror group association of Pakistan. He emphasized these weapons are of international concern.

Calls for IAEA Oversight

Carrying his argument a step further, Rajnath Singh called on international agencies to take action. He made a direct appeal to the IAEA. This UN-associated agency oversees peaceful nuclear energy use globally. He indicated that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons need to be placed under the control of the IAEA.

His call implies that India feels Pakistan might no longer be adhering to minimum global safety standards. The move is intended to prevent future dangers that might be caused by Pakistan’s uncontrolled nuclear power.

Call for International Responsibility

The strong statement of Singh demands global accountability. He placed the problem not only on India’s agenda, but on that of the world. As terror attacks increase and political instability in Pakistan intensifies, Rajnath Singh’s words pose a crucial question to the world: Can the world afford not to know who has the trigger?

The world now needs to make a decision. Rajnath Singh has clarified India’s position. The ball is now in the court of the international agencies.

</excerpt>

A violent face-off erupted on Thursday morning in the Nader locality of Tral, Awantipora, J&K with security personnel fighting terrorists. Two terrorists are said to be stuck in the crossfire. This encounter comes in the wake of the recent killing of three Lashkar-e-Taiba handlers in Shopian. These operations are part of India’s broader crackdown against terror under Operation Keller and Operation Sindoor.

At the same time, tensions between Pakistan and India have escalated following Indian troops launching targeted attacks on terror camps along the border. These events mark a serious escalation of India’s counterterror campaign.

Fresh clash in Tral

The new gunfight started early on Thursday in Nader, Tral. J&K Police confirmed the encounter through their official X handle. They said, “Encounter has started at Nader, Tral area of Awantipora. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.” Sources report two terrorists are still trapped as forces continue the operation.

Two days prior to the Tral encounter, security personnel gunned down three terrorists in Shopian’s Shukroo forest. All were Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives. Two of them have been identified by police of J&K. The operation, codenamed ‘Operation Keller,’ resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of weapons and ammunition. A video from the location reveals rifles, grenades, bullets, wallets, and backpacks recovered from the terrorists.

Operation Keller and Operation Sindoor

Both Shopian and Tral operations fall under a larger anti-terror operation. Operation Sindoor has an extended regional mandate, while Operation Keller targets South Kashmir. Both the operations have aimed to break up the networks of militants and prevent cross-border infiltration.

Indian troops on May 8 carried out coordinated precision raids on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Their targets were top Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed camps at Bahawalpur and Muridke. The raids killed several of the terror groups’ top leaders.

Pakistan’s attempted retaliation

Pakistan tried to strike back with missile and drone strikes. But Indian forces managed to neutralise all dangers. The Indian Air Force (IAF) retaliated by attacking key Pakistani military installations. IAF fighter planes devastated airbases and radar installations. They also jammed Pakistan’s Chinese-made air defence systems during the attack.

The continuous Tral encounter and earlier Shopian offensive indicate India’s hardened anti-terror stance. Supported by high-impact cross-border actions and in-depth intelligence, Indian forces continue to disassemble militant infrastructure. The next few days could witness more escalations as tensions with Pakistan continue and the security grid remains on its toes.

</excerpt>

India on May 13, 2025, expelled a member of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi after discovering his espionage activities. The person, operating secretly as an ISI agent in diplomatic cover, was made persona non grata. Indian officials directed him to depart within 24 hours.

In a tit-for-tat retaliatory move, Pakistan had expelled a member of the Indian High Commission staff in Islamabad. Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned India’s Charge d’Affaires and served the notice of expulsion on the Indian diplomat for allegedly carrying out activities “incompatible with his diplomatic status.” This action was a mirror image of India’s move in both tone and timing.

Espionage Sparks Diplomatic Flashpoint

The diplomatic crisis began when Indian security officials discovered an espionage network using the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. A Pakistani official purportedly shared classified information with handlers and conducted undercover surveillance operations. The discovery followed increased tensions across the region after a terror strike in Pahalgam, which killed 26 civilians.

Another brainless tit-for-tat move by Pakistan.

India caught an undercover ISI operative working as a staffer at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, so Islamabad followed suit and declared an Indian diplomat persona non grata, because why not.

What a banana republic. pic.twitter.com/MtvRnMwPyH

— Sonam Mahajan (@AsYouNotWish) May 13, 2025

India took decisive action. It used the Vienna Convention to expel the official, citing unmistakable proof of espionage. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that such conduct was unacceptable and went against all diplomatic standards.

Islamabad Reacts on Expected Lines

Hours later, Pakistan retaliated — as anticipated — with a mirror response. Islamabad’s action, while diplomatically worded, was generally understood to be one of retaliation, not new intelligence. “Because why not,” as X analysts sarcastically surmised, referencing the traditional symmetry of India-Pakistan diplomatic standoffs.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office announced that the Indian diplomat was persona non grata and called for him to leave in 24 hours. Islamabad authorities defended the act as required for “maintaining diplomatic parity.”

Traditional Pattern of Retaliation

The tit-for-tat expulsions highlight the fragility of India-Pakistan relations. With tensions in intelligence spilling over into diplomacy, both countries appear locked into a familiar pattern of provocation and response. Unless both governments shift towards long-term dialogue, such confrontations will continue to undermine any chance of regional stability.

The tit-for-tat expulsions illustrate how tenuous India-Pakistan relations are. As intelligence tensions bleed into diplomacy, each seems trapped in a self-fulfilling cycle of provocation and retaliation. Unless both governments change course toward persistent dialogue, such incidents will keep eroding any possibility for regional stability.

</excerpt>

India responded with Operation Sindoor to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack that took the lives of 26 civilians. In a swift response, the Indian Air Force (IAF) attacked and damaged atleast 8 important Pakistani Air Force (PAF) bases in Sindh, Punjab, and other areas. These attacks also destroyed radar stations, runways, and drone bases—inflicting a strategic loss on Pakistan’s air warfare capabilities.

The strike was India’s most powerful military retaliation in years and demonstrated its ability to carry out synchronized, high-accuracy attacks on foreign territory.

Airbases Targeted Throughout Pakistan

Indian aircraft attacked Nur Khan airbase in Rawalpindi—one of Pakistan’s most important military bases. The base is home to the PAF Air Mobility Command and is close to Pakistan’s General Headquarters and nuclear command branch. The Indian Air Force targeted Sukkur base, under the Southern Command, and Rahim Yar Khan base, which aids civilian and military operations. It destroyed the entire Rahim Yar Khan runway, halting all flight operations.

Other major bases struck are Mushaf in Sargodha, where there are F-16s, Mirages, JF-17 Thunders, and special squadrons. Shahbaz Jacobabad base, previously employed by NATO troops, also suffered destruction. It contains JF-17 Block II fighter jets, F-16s, and AW139 rescue choppers.

New and Strategic Bases Damaged

IAF aircraft also targeted Bholari airbase, Pakistan’s latest facility to be opened in 2017. It suffered damage in the attack, targeting F-16s and Saab 2000 AEW&C surveillance aircraft. Rafiqui base, dedicated to a war hero from 1965, also sustained damage. Mirage 5 jets and JF-17s are based out of it.

Murid base was hit hard. It is Pakistan’s prime drone operations centre. It hosts Shahpar, Burraq, Wing Loong II, and Bayraktar TB2 drones. India presumably wanted to curb Pakistan’s UAV capability.

Radar and Defence Installations Hit

IAF did not rest at airfields. It struck radar and air defence installations at Pasrur, Sialkot, Chunian, and Lahore. They were destroyed with air-launched precision weapons. These radar installations offer early warning and tracking assistance to PAF operations.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh called the attack “swift and calibrated.” India targeted only military targets—command centers, radar installations, and weapon stores—leaving civilians out of it. Singh further commented, “These were calibrated responses intended to degrade Pakistan’s offensive capability without expanding the scope of conflict.”

Ceasefire Accepted, But Warnings Remain

India has accepted a ceasefire following a hotline call by Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations to India. However, Delhi asserted that further provocation would evoke a forceful and more definitive response.

India’s Operation Sindoor is a keen reminder to Pakistan. With important bases incapacitated, radar vision dazed, and drone hubs smashed, the operational preparedness of the PAF now has a serious hurdle. India’s measures indicate a hardline policy: cross-border terror will incur significant military penalties.

</excerpt>

In the Adampur Air Base, PM Narendra Modi appreciated the Indian Air Force (IAF) for conducting swift and targeted attacks on terror camps deep within Pakistan. He highlighted the success of the mission by saying, “Within 20-25 minutes, you hit the pinpoint targets across the border. It can only be done by a modern technology professional force.” His statement not only pointed towards the success of operations but also to the advanced technology of the IAF in conducting precision strikes.

PM Modi statements highlighted the great accuracy of the IAF mission. The Air Force in 20 to 25 minutes struck at various terror camps along the border. The operation showed speed and accuracy, which proved India’s defense technology is far advanced. The operation proved enough to crush terrorist networks based in Pakistan, letting India make it clear to Pakistan about its defense capabilities.

Modern Technology Driving Success

The success of this mission depended on the IAF’s application of advanced technology and experienced personnel. PM Modi emphasized that only a force with advanced technology could conduct such targeted strikes. The mission demonstrated how much India’s military has progressed in capabilities.

This mission was a huge leap forward in India’s military strength, demonstrating the country’s increasing prowess in modern warfare.

India’s Strong Stance Against Terrorism

The airstrikes were a part of India’s relentless efforts to eliminate terrorism from its roots. PM Modi left no ambiguity that India would not wait to take quick and decisive action against any terror activities emanating from Pakistan.

This operation was not merely a tactical victory, it was a strong political assertion that India is resolute in the protection of its sovereignty and security.

Defense Strategy Enters a New Era

The successful operation and PM Modi’s speech mark the beginning of a new phase in India’s defense strategy. India can now react to external threats quickly and efficiently thanks to its modernized military. The IAF’s targeted attacks on terror bases demonstrate India’s willingness to confront such threats head-on.

Reciting couplets traditionally believed to be composed by Chetak, “Kaushal dikhlaya chaalo mein, Udd gaya bhayanak bhaalo mein, Nirbhik gaya vo dhaalo mein, Sarpat dauda karwalo mein.”

“These few lines were written for Maharana Pratap’s popular horse Chetak, ‘Kaushal dikhlaya chaalo mein, Udd gaya bhayanak bhaalo mein, Nirbhik gaya vo dhaalo mein, Sarpat dauda karwalo… pic.twitter.com/JsFc6H8bfj

“These lines also apply to modern-day Indian weapons. Our Armed Forces has boosted unity amongst people of India through Operation Sindoor. You have protected Indian borders. Our Airforce has precisely targeted terror camps in Pakistan within 20-25 minutes… Our target was to hit the terror headquarters in Pakistan,” PM Modi said from the Adampur Air base.

Modi stressed that these lines well define the strength of India’s modern weapons, stressing their accuracy and courage.

Operation Sindoor: A Testimony to Military Accuracy

Citing the success of Operation Sindoor, Modi congratulated the Indian Air Force for successfully striking terror camps in Pakistan with its quick and accurate operations. He further emphasized that, within just 20-25 minutes, the IAF had successfully neutralized major terror headquarters, thereby demonstrating India’s increased military strength and strategic planning.

Moreover, this swift and precise action showcased the growing efficiency and readiness of the Indian armed forces in tackling security threats.

Promoting National Unity Through Military Excellence

Apart from the tactical successes, Modi also recognized the invaluable contribution of the Armed Forces in bringing the nation together. Furthermore, he highlighted how their unwavering commitment and courage have fostered unity among the people of India, strengthening the country’s resolve in the face of challenges.

He said that Operation Sindoor not only secured India’s borders but also enhanced national unity, which was a manifestation of the country’s collective determination against terrorism.

</excerpt>

At Adampur Air Base, PM Narendra Modi appreciated the Indian Air Force (IAF) for carrying out successful air strikes that eliminated prime terrorist hideouts. This action delivered a stern message to all those who challenge India’s peace and security. PM Modi underlined the fact that terrorists now have complete understanding of the consequences of targeting India.

PM Modi emphasized the victory of the airstrike, prioritizing its specificity and effectiveness. “You hit them from the front and made them dead. You eliminated all the large bastions of terror. 9 terrorist hideouts were eliminated. Over 100 terrorists were killed,” he reported. These comments well expressed the scale of the operation. IAF did not merely attack structures; it crushed the core of terror activities.

#WATCH | At the Adampur Air Base, PM Narendra Modi says “…Aatank ke aakao ko samajh aa gaya hai ki Bharat ki ore nazar uthane ka ek hi anjaam hoga- tabaahi aur mahavinaash…”

Therefore, the airstrike was a firm reaction to terrorism based in Pakistan. India reaffirmed, yet again, its resolve to uproot terror at its roots and safeguard its people from threats from abroad.

Heavy Toll on Terrorists

In addition, PM Modi highlighted the huge cost the operation had in terms of lives lost among terrorists. He confirmed that more than 100 militants were killed, saying, “Over 100 terrorists were killed.” This authoritative assertion highlighted the extent of the airstrikes and asserted India’s military capabilities.

It sent an unequivocal message: India’s defense capabilities can crush threats quickly before they spread.

Firm Warning to Terrorists

PM Modi also made it clear that India will not tolerate any aggression. “Aatank ke aakao ko samajh aa gaya hai ki Bharat ki ore nazar uthane ka ek hi anjaam hoga-tabaahi aur mahavinaash,” he declared.

Terrorists are now aware that India will respond to any attack with devastation and destruction. This communication once again cemented India’s strong attitude towards terrorism and its resolve not to allow it to take root on Indian soil.

Valuing the Role of IAF

In addition, PM Modi complimented the IAF for their professionalism and courage. “You have done a really fantastic job,” he said, expressing appreciation for the commitment of each air warrior and the commanders who ensured the success of the operation. His appreciation of the team highlighted the value of teamwork and preparedness in defending India’s airspace.

PM Modi’s speech demonstrated India’s expanding military prowess. In addition to destroying terrorist camps, the airstrikes killed more than 100 militants, sending a strong message that India will continue to act swiftly and decisively against any threat to its security.

In a speech at the Adampur Air Base, PM Narendra Modi appreciated the Indian Air Force (IAF) for flawless execution of its airstrikes in Pakistan. He commented that the IAF struck with precision and with pride every goal that it attacked.

In his opinion, the strike not only obliterated terror camps and air bases. It shattered Pakistan’s arrogance and malign intentions. PM Modi’s words sent a clear message—India strikes back with strength and clarity. His speech reflected India’s growing confidence in defending its borders and fighting terrorism.

In Pakistan, it was not just the terrorist camps and their air bases that were destroyed, but their nefarious designs and audacity were also defeated.”… pic.twitter.com/fWPVS2Gti7

Mission With Perfection

PM Modi set the tone with a tribute to the gallantry and professionalism of the IAF. “I can proudly state that all of you struck your target to perfection,” he announced. These weren’t hollow platitudes. They reinforced a task that was conducted with the exactitude of surgeons.

The remarks put across once again the sentiment of India—the world, rather—that places trust in its personnel and their mettle.

More Than Just a Strike

It was not just destroying infrastructure, but t was sending a shockwave across Pakistan’s terror syndicate. It destroyed their confidence as well. “In Pakistan, not only were the terrorist camps and their air bases targeted, but their evil plans and daring was also vanquished,” he said. These words got the underlying impact of the mission.

PM Modi highlighted that India did not wait for an attack. Rather, the IAF responded first. They attacked at the root of terror. The decision turned the game. It established India’s new policy—strike first, strike hard, and eliminate threats before they hit our shore. The address made it certain that there is no tolerance if it is a matter of national security.

Confidence in the Armed Forces

By speaking directly to the IAF at Adampur, PM Modi gave a boost to their morale. His words reflected government support in complete measure. He referred to the mission as one of courage and commitment. The nation stands firm with its army. And its army stands at the ready, always.

</excerpt>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s surprise visit to the Adampur Air Base in Punjab on Tuesday became a powerful moment of patriotism and purpose. Addressing the Indian Air Force personnel who played a pivotal role in Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister saluted their courage and declared that “‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ maidaan mein bhi goonjti hai aur mission mein bhi.”

He went on to say, “Jab Bharat ke sainik Maa Bharati bolte hai toh dushman ke kaleje kaanp jaate hai.” His words inflamed a wave of emotion from the air warriors who stood with him, many of whom had been actively involved in India’s recent return of blow for blow with Pakistan.

Additionally, PM Modi stressed that “Bharat Mata ki Jai is the determination of each soldier who is willing to lay down their lives for the nation. It is the cry of each citizen who wishes to live for the nation and do something for the nation.” His words reflected the very spirit of India’s military culture and its people’s unflinching patriotism.

This trip arrived amidst a viral photo of PM Modi greeting the airmen with the S-400 missile system behind them—a direct refutation of Pakistan’s now-discredited assertion of destroying it. The symbolism of this moment cannot be more powerful: India’s strength lies not in its weapons, but in its spirit.

Just as the Prime Minister’s words resonated over the air base, so too did India’s message to its enemies—loud, clear, and unshakeable. “Bharat Mata ki Jai” is more than a slogan. It’s a statement of unity, courage, and purpose.

A Statement Pakistan Can’t Ignore

<excerpt>Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unexpected stop at Punjab’s Adampur air base showcased the indomitable spirit of the IAF and India’s cutting-edge defence system, the S-400, debunking Pakistan’s propaganda in a single viral image.
</excerpt>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an unexpected visit to the Adampur Air Force Station in Punjab on Tuesday, saluting the staff who participated in the brazen Operation Sindoor. Yet, it was one photo of his visit that took center stage — a photo that quietly killed Pakistan’s recent propaganda drive. In the Prime Minister’s background, as he returned the salute, stood the very S-400 air defense system that Pakistan had lied about destroying.

As the photo was shared on social media, social media users saw the symbolism the moment it appeared. “Observe the backdrop of every picture. There’s a message to Pakistan and the world,” one user noted. Another tweeted, “A photo at Adampur Airbase, with 2 reasons behind Pakistan’s defeat in the shortest possible time; 1. S-400 symbolizes the strength of the Indian Military 2. Modi Ji symbolizes visionary leadership.

Sharing some more glimpses from my visit to AFS Adampur. pic.twitter.com/G9NmoAZvTR

— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) May 13, 2025

The S-400 Power: Fact vs. Rhetoric

Pakistan had previously claimed that its JF-17 fighter aircraft destroyed India’s S-400 system in its missile attack on the Adampur base. However, the recently viral image of the intact S-400 launcher still in operational shape unveiled the unfounded element of the claims.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh had earlier dismissed these claims in a press briefing, indicting Pakistan on purposeful disinformation. According to her, “Pakistan has also attempted to execute a continued malicious misinformation campaign, with claims of destruction of the Indian S-400 system, destruction of airfields at Surat and Sirsa… India unequivocally rejects these false claims being spread by Pakistan.”

Strong Message by PM Modi to India and the World

Modi’s visit was more than ceremonial — it was symbolic. As he waved his fist and addressed the brave airmen, the message was unmistakable. The Indian Prime Minister was not only commending their efforts but also publicly standing with the men who helped neutralise one of the gravest cross-border threats in recent years.

Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination, and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation. pic.twitter.com/RYwfBfTrV2

In another blog, PM Modi stated, “Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination, and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation.”

The Technological Edge That Made the Difference

India’s deployment of the S-400 Triumf, the world’s most advanced long-range surface-to-air missile system, was instrumental in the four-day war. Equipped to detect and neutralize airborne threats such as planes, drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, the S-400 intercepted and destroyed dozens of Pakistani drones and missiles.
