India News Manch 2024: Akhilesh credits PDA strategy for Samajwadi Party’s victory over BJP

New Delhi: The national president of Samajwadi Party and ex chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav started off by emphasising how the Pichda, Dalit and Adivasi (PDA) helped the party defeat the gigantic election machinery of Bharatiya Janata Party.

Akhilesh Yadav said, “Alot of things are going on in the parliament right now (as a lot of issues are being picked up against the BJP) and therefore a lot of political parties become uncomfortable after they hear about PDA strategy. Recently when we gave a role of LoP in the assembly to person who comes from underrepresented community, the most uncomfortable party was the BJP. Moreover, had they worked for the people, the BJP would not have lost the elections with such a huge number, although Modi has won but going by the votes, he has lost.”

He also talked about how the caste census is going to uplift the underrepresented people, “If we see today, Congress who were against the caste census are today with caste census and it is going to benefit all the backward people and minorities. We gave the representation to PDA and therefore the BJP lost it.” He added, “We have made an effort to bring the people from PDA community together and that’s what we are going to focus on, help them grow.”

Asked whether they had marked out a particular strategy before elections, Akhilesh said, “We had no strategy, we were clear about our work and how we are going to tell people how BJP has failed and when Congress came together with us we got a national narrative and were able to fight together. The good thing is, both the top leaders (Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav) were seen together, we coordinated well about which I thankful to all the rank and file who gelled up with Congress. Since we have worked with a lot of parties before that experience helped us work out a better deal with Congress in the elections.”
Akhilesh also said, “When people asked us about how we can be with TMC in Bengal and also with Congress at the same time, we said that the relationship we had with one party, we are going to carry on with that and also the new formation we have formed we are going to respect that as well. That’s how Samajwadis work and thus there was no rebellion from anywhere.”

Akhilesh further added, “We should know that the parties who come to helm the government do not stay, they come and go. And at times, there is a lot of injustice that happens during their governance, I want to make it known that wherever there is going to be injustice the Samajwadi party is going to support them.”

He also talked about how he started off his career from Delhi. Akhilesh said, “From a long time I am in Delhi, I started with Delhi, the first time I contested Lok Sabha elections was in 2000. On the other hand Uttar Pradesh is a big state and its politics is different. Recently UP politics had gained pace and now after some time it will again gain pace (refering to the rumours of replacement of Yogi Adityanatg).

India News Manch 2024: BJP, Congress, SP Leaders Clash On Corruption And Governance

ITV Network is hosting a ‘Manch’ today, Monday (July 29), to address the nation’s most pressing issues. The event, taking place at Le Meridien Hotel in Connaught Place, New Delhi, began at 10 am and will continue throughout the day.

During “Corruption Ki Aar Paar,” Congress MP Udit Raj sharply criticized the government, accusing the BJP of enacting laws like the Electoral Bond law to conceal corruption. He claimed, “No parliament has made a law against theft like BJP brought the Electoral Bond law.” Raj further alleged, “BJP’s corruption is clearly visible,” and labeled the party as a “washing machine of corruption,” asserting, “BJP patronizes the corrupt” and “likes corruption for power.” He also accused the BJP of providing a safe haven for corrupt individuals, including Ajit Pawar and Praful Patel, and predicted a backlash in the 2024 elections due to the corruption.

SP spokesperson Anurag Bhadoria launched a vigorous attack on the BJP, alleging that the party has failed to meet its promises to women, farmers, and students. He criticized PM Modi for remaining silent about the issues faced by the daughters of wrestlers and accused the BJP of only addressing problems after they arise. Bhadoria remarked, “BJP has forgotten all the promises it made” and accused the government of failing the youth and women while favoring the corrupt. He also questioned why the ED does not target the BJP and suggested the agency overlooks the ruling party’s misdeeds.

In response, BJP spokesperson Ajay Alok defended his party, asserting that the public has spoken through their votes and that the BJP has won electoral victories. On the third and last day of the event today, prominent figures such as Ameeben Yagnik, Anurag Bhadauria, and Shankar Lalwani participated. Responding to allegations made by Congress of betrayal, Scindia attacked and said, “I don’t need to respond to the traitorous allegations of the Congress. I have faced criticism for the past three years. I had said that I will get an answer from the public, and in the 2020 elections, the public answered them with their votes.”

Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday discussed the necessity of Uniform Civil Code for the state. He stated that the UCC is not only essential for Uttarakhand but for the entire country as it promises equality to all. He declared that the government’s committee is working closely with the stakeholders and taking feedback before making the draft, soon after which the law will be implemented

He further briefed on the steps the Uttarakhand government is taking to improve the growth of the state’s tourism industry as it is one of the major part of the economy. Dhami said, “We are constantly promoting home-stays and till now more than 4000 home-stays have been registered. This is one of the major sources of living for us. People of other states living in our home-stays will also help them connect with our culture. For better tourism, we are constructing better roads. Under the guidance of PM Modi, connectivity of Uttarakhand with nearby states is improving. Various bypasses and all weather roads are being constructed and the air connectivity is improving.”
CM Dhami denied the Opposition’s claim of Uttarakhand’s declining economy and said, “Opposition needs to say something or the other; we are constantly improving. State’s growth rate has jumped from – 5 to 7.5, that too after Covid. We are gradually succeeding and we aim to be one of India’s most successful states by 2025.”

Detailing the government’s efforts in the field of education, he said, “Our cabinet has decided to issue free books to the students of class 9th -12th. We are among the first few states of the nation to implement the new education policy. We know the importance of education as it will create the future of our youth therefore we are working precisely on the betterment of education opportunities.”

Talking about the challenge of managing the crowd of people as the Char Dham Yatra was reopened after two years; he said that the government is constantly working in the field of health, medical emergency, road connectivity, etc to ensure a better experience for the people.”
He opposed forced religious conversions and said that less educated people easily get brainwashed in such incidents. In Uttarakhand, several such cases came to the light. The government is working on the issue and trying to introduce a law against this. He also ensured the government’s strict actions against love jihad.
Dhami further commented on Kharge’s derogatory comment on PM Modi and said that there is a competition in the opposition on who can use the most derogatory words for PM and it shows their culture. He termed Rahul Gandhi’s comment on soldiers as crime.

ED, CBI got nothing, yet we are hounded: Manish Sisodia

Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia on Thursday defended AAP
government’s controversial liquor policy by saying that it was one of the best policy
document. He also says that the Government agencies like ED and CBI failed to find
anything against them. However, he added that he is expecting more charge sheets
against the AAP leaders.

Sisodia while addressing the ‘India News Manch’ conclave says, “The Policy was
benefiting the government but the Bharatiya Janata Party termed it as a scam, even
agencies like ED and CBI investigated but did not find anything against us. Now, I
came to know more charge sheets will be filed. A good policy was made in Delhi; no
one was harmed by it. BJP has definitely suffered a loss.”

On dispute with LG, he says, “On whichever subject we have fought, it has benefitted
the public. We fought for CCTV; it was also for Delhi’s people. Women now
confidently complaints against the eve-teasers with the help of the CCTV footage. It
has become easier for people to register complaints as they have a solid proof.
Earlier, there was nobody to fight for Delhi’s people, but today, Arvind Kejriwal and
the Aam Aadmi Party stand with the public and fights for it. Whenever we fight, it’s
for the people.”

Recent elections
The ‘successes’ in recent elections in Gujarat and Municipal Corporation of Delhi
also figured prominently during the discussion. Sisodia said on Gujarat elections
when a party contests for the first time and it gets 41 lakh votes, then it is a big
achievement. BJP got 1.5 crore votes.

When asked about the landslide victory in the MCD elections, Manish Sisodia says,
“Our workers are aware of our party’s vision for the nation and, our party fulfills its
promises. This is our mantra for the MCD victory.”

He further talks about Delhi’s garbage issue and says, “We step out in Delhi with a
good mood but the garbage piles spoil the mood. Our 134 councillors are working in
their areas to get rid of the garbage. Our party will solve the garbage issue in next
five years.”
Sisodia talks about his plans on participating in national politics, on which
he says, “I never thought of joining politics. I think whatever task one does, one
should do it with passion.”
