Woman, Partner Kill Husband with Scissors in Greater Noida, Both Arrested

A married woman and her partner were arrested on Sunday for the brutal murder of her husband, committed with a pair of scissors a week ago in Greater Noida, police officials reported.

The suspects, Pooja and Prahlad Kushwaha, were apprehended near the ATS roundabout in Greater Noida. The murder weapon, a pair of scissors, was recovered from them, according to a police spokesperson.

“Pooja and Prahlad, both from the same village, had been involved in an extramarital relationship even before Pooja moved with her husband Mahesh to Bironda village for work,” the spokesperson said.

Mahesh, in search of employment, had relocated his family to Bironda in Greater Noida and found work as a sanitation worker. During this time, Pooja called Prahlad to Greater Noida under the pretext of helping him find a job. Prahlad secured a position as a security guard at NFL Society and began visiting Pooja frequently, the official said.

On the night of July 1, Prahlad visited Pooja at her home in Mahesh’s absence. However, Mahesh unexpectedly returned home and discovered his wife with Prahlad in a compromising situation, the official said. “A violent confrontation ensued, during which Pooja and Prahlad attacked Mahesh with a pair of scissors, ultimately killing him. They then attempted to hide the body by throwing it onto the roof of a toilet before fleeing the scene,” the police spokesperson said.

Behind a towering mountain of garbage in the narrow lanes of Jaitpur Extension in Badarpur, 55-year-old Vineeta is reeling from the devastating loss of her husband, Digvijay Kumar Chaudhary (61). His lifeless body was discovered near an underpass in Okhla on Saturday, following heavy rains in the city.

In her modest home in Gali number 2, Vineeta, surrounded by relatives, intermittently breaks down, grieving the loss of her husband. “Ab rone ke alawa mere paas bacha hi kya hai,” she lamented. Vineeta has already endured the heartbreak of losing her only son to Covid.

Decades ago, Digvijay, originally from Bihar, moved to Delhi to provide for his family and raise their three children — two daughters and a son. He took on various odd jobs to make ends meet. A few years ago, the younger daughter passed away due to an illness, and in 2021, the couple lost their only son. Their elder daughter is married and lives away from them.

The couple relied on each other for support, but financial strain forced Digvijay to take up a security guard job about a year and a half ago. “After my son passed away, the financial strain on us was immense, which is why he had to start working again. He put his heart and soul into the job, and probably because of that, he lost his life,” Vineeta said.

For a 12-hour shift, seven days a week, Digvijay earned around Rs 15,000. “I used to tell him, if the shift is 12 hours, why do you work more? He would say, ‘I am a security guard supervisor. I should be taking care of other things as well’,” Vineeta recounted.

On Friday, around 4 am, during heavy rains, Digvijay spoke to the night shift guard who informed him about waterlogging in the basement of the company’s building. “I heard him on the phone asking the other guard to turn on the motor to pump the water out. The person on the other side said it would be difficult for him to do so. Then he told me that he had to go look into the matter. He left around 5 am,” Vineeta said.

When Digvijay did not call her by noon, Vineeta called his cellphone. To her surprise, a police officer answered. “I am wondering if I had not called, or if his phone had stopped working, would I have even found out what happened to my husband. There was no communication by the police, even though he was carrying all his identity proof with him,” Vineeta said, showing his Aadhar and company ID, which were damp.

The circumstances surrounding Digvijay’s death remain unclear. “We don’t know if he was electrocuted, drowned, or hit by a vehicle. We are told we will get a post-mortem report in a week,” a family member said.

TOI contacted Trutuff Facility Management Pvt Ltd, where Digvijay worked. Until Sunday, the company had not reached out to the family. “As per our contract, the company is not liable for any injury or mishap. But we will have a meeting and look into it on humanitarian grounds,” an official stated.

Tripura: Husband Kills Wife Over Monetary Dispute

Taur Ali, a resident of Prakash Latiapura Village Panchayat in the Unakoti region of Tripura, brutally murdered his wife, Nichhafa Begam, on Saturday in a terrible and shocking occurrence.

According to the reports, on the night of May 18, around 1 am, a violent altercation erupted between the couple when Nichhafa refused to comply with Taur Ali’s monetary demands.
In a fit of rage, Taur Ali attacked her with a sharp blade, delivering five vicious blows to her head and neck. Nichhafa Begam succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
Reportedly, the accused, Taur Ali, immediately fled from the spot after committing the crime.

When the Irani Police Station officers got there on Sunday morning, they moved Nichhafa Begam’s body to the mortuary of the Unakoti District Hospital so that it could be examined postmortem.
In addition, Taur Ali has escaped the scene and a suspect has been taken into custody for interrogation, therefore the police have initiated a vigorous manhunt to capture him.

While speaking to ANI, an OC (officer in charge) of the Irani Police Station, Jatindra Das, said, “We received reports of Nichhafa Begam’s murder. The preliminary investigation indicates she was killed by her husband, Taur Ali, over a monetary dispute. We are actively searching for the accused and are committed to bringing him to justice.”
As per police officials, Nichhafa Begam had been subjected to continuous abuse by her husband, Taur Ali, who had been demanding money from her father’s house for a long time.

Nichhafa sought refuge at her father’s house to escape the abuse, but her husband made her come home even though she was very sick and had just had an operation outside the state.

Nichhafa’s younger brother claims that, in spite of her family’s strong objections, Taur Ali had been putting pressure on Nichhafa to get money to pay for her medical bills. Nichhafa was tortured mercilessly when Taur Ali forced her to return home.

Their three sons are devastated by the unfortunate event, especially the two younger ones who are still at home, while the oldest son is currently abroad in Bengaluru looking for work. The local community has denounced Taur Ali’s conduct as cruel and barbaric, and they are calling for a prompt and serious punishment for him.

The locals’ collective sorrow and rage are reflected in the growing calls for Taur Ali’s arrest and severe punishment.

Pune: Nepali Man Assaults Wife On Suspicion Of Affair, Pierces Nails, Puts Lock On Her Private Parts; Arrested

A Nepali man has been arrested in Pimpri-Chinchwad for allegedly assaulting his wife and piercing blade and iron nails into her private parts on suspicion of an extramarital affair.
The incident happened in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area of Pune district, on May 11, the police said.

The accused (30) tied up his wife (28), a Nepali national, believing she was having an affair. He then attacked her. The police claimed that he locked his wife’s privates and punctured her with a sharp knife and two iron nails.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she is undergoing treatment for her injuries, they said.

The accused husband, who works as a watchman, has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 506(2) (criminal intimidation).

Nivriti Kolhatkar, Senior Inspector of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police, said that the case has been registered at Wakad Police Station and further investigation is on.

“A case was registered against the accused at Wakad Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 506(2) (criminal intimidation), and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt). The case is under investigation and the woman’s well-being is closely monitored.”

Refusal of Physical intimacy now considered cruelty under Hindu marriage act : K’taka HC

According to the Karnataka High Court, the absence of a physical relationship after marriage constitutes cruelty under section 12(1)(a) of the Hindu Marriage Act rather than under section 498A of the IPC because the marriage has not been consummated. The court’s decision comes as it throws out a case alleging cruelty against a man and his parents under section 498A. The couple apparently barely lived together for 28 days before getting married in December 2019. A complaint was made in February 2020 by the wife. Although the in-laws were also the target of the complaint, the wife’s major complaint was against the husband, a devotee of Brahmakumari.

According to reports, the husband is accused of watching videos of certain Brahmakumari sister Shivani. The wife allegedly said that the husband would tell her he was not interested in physical relationship and that love is not getting physical relationship and should have soul to soul love.

On the opposing side, the in-laws were accused of pressuring for dowry during the marriage and influencing their son to do the same. The wife’s plea resulted in a similar hearing, where the family court invalidated the marriage. The highest court observed that this decision was based on the argument that the husband and wife had no physical intimacy. In a petition to the higher court, the husband and his parents raised doubts about the charges brought against them under IPC section 498A and section 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

The Karnataka high court acknowledged the fact that the parents did not live with the couple. Furthermore, the court highlighted that neither the chargesheet nor the wife’s complaint described any incident or event that would qualify as an element of IPC section 498A during the 28 days the couple resided together. Justice M Nagaprasanna stated that the only complaint was that the husband had no intention of engaging in a physical relationship with his wife.
