Hema Malini Dismisses Mahakumbh Stampede Concerns: ‘Not a Very Big Incident’

BJP MP Hema Malini downplayed the Mahakumbh stampede on Tuesday, asserting that it was not a highly significant event. She also commended the Uttar Pradesh government for effectively overseeing the large-scale occasion.

“We attended Kumbh, and we had a very pleasant bath. It is true that an incident occurred, but it was not a very major incident. I am not sure how serious it was. It is being blown out of proportion. It was extremely well-organized, and everything was handled very well. So many individuals are coming, it is quite challenging to manage, but we are doing our utmost,” the BJP MP told ANI.

The unfortunate stampede took place during the second Shahi Snan on Mouni Amavasya at the Mahakumbh, leading to at least 30 fatalities and about 60 injuries.

The event has faced significant criticism from opposition leaders, who have challenged the government’s management of the situation during the Mauni Amavasya bathing ceremony.

Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes BJP in Lok Sabha

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, addressing the Lok Sabha, charged the government with hiding the true death toll from the Mahakumbh disaster.

“For the Mahakumbh tragedy, there must be strict punitive measures against those who are accountable and those who have concealed the truth should be penalized. We question the double-engine government, if there was no wrongdoing, then why were the figures concealed, hidden, and erased? ” he stated.

He also claimed that officials had to utilize earth movers to gather the bodies.

“The government is persistently announcing budget figures; please also provide the numbers of those who perished in the Kumbh. The statistics for the fatalities in the Maha Kumbh incident, treatment of the injured, availability of medicines, doctors, food, water, and transport should be presented in Parliament,” he added.

Fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the third consecutive time from Mathura Lok Sabha seat, Hema Malini has a strong connection with the constituency. Mathura, a BJP stronghold from 1991 to 1999, saw a shift in 2004 when it went to the Congress. However, in 2014, the BJP fielded Hema Malini, who emerged victorious. In the 2019 elections, Hema’s husband, actor Dharmendra, also campaigned for her, garnering significant support. With the implementation of public welfare schemes by the government, Hema Malini secured victory once again in 2019.

Uttar Pradesh, known for sending the maximum number of MPs (80) to Parliament, will vote in all seven phases. The voting for phases one and two is scheduled for April 19 and April 26, followed by phases three and four on May 7 and May 13. The state will then proceed with phases five, six, and seven on May 20, May 23, and June 1, respectively. Mathura will participate in the second phase of the general elections on April 26.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Hema Malini, who transitioned from acting to politics, for the Mathura Lok Sabha seat for the third consecutive term.

With approximately 35 percent of voters belonging to the Jat community in Mathura, Hema Malini is viewed as the preferred candidate. Additionally, the BJP is gaining support from Rashtriya Lok Dal’s Jayant Chaudhary for the elections. The Mathura Lok Sabha seat holds significant importance for the Bharatiya Janata Party, and the party aims to maintain its stronghold in this constituency.

In Mathura, located along the Yamuna river, where approximately 35 percent of the voters are from the Jat community, Hema Malini, the wife of actor Dharmendra Deol, is regarded as the daughter-in-law of the Jats.

The Mathura seat has witnessed elections 17 times, with candidates from the Jat community emerging victorious 12 times. From 1991 to 1999, the BJP secured victory in Mathura four times, establishing it as their stronghold. However, in 2004, Mathura was won by the Congress party. Subsequently, in 2009, RLD’s Jayant Chaudhary became the Member of Parliament from Mathura.

In 2014, the BJP nominated Hema Malini, who emerged victorious. In the 2019 elections, actor Dharmendra, Hema’s husband, campaigned for her and garnered significant support from the public. With the implementation of public welfare schemes by the double-engine government, the lotus once again blossomed in Mathura in 2019, securing Hema Malini’s position as an MP.

Throughout her tenures, Hema Malini has remained actively engaged in her political duties. Political analysts speculate that with the potential inclusion of RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary in the NDA, the BJP will not only gain support from Jat voters in Mathura and parts of western Uttar Pradesh but also stand to benefit in Haryana and other regions. Interestingly, in the 2014 Mathura election, Hema defeated Jayant by over 3 lakh votes.

Uttar Pradesh, which contributes the highest number of MPs, 80, to Parliament, will undergo voting across all seven phases. The voting for phases one and two is scheduled for April 19 and April 26. Subsequently, the state will conduct polling once more in phases three and four on May 7 and May 13. The Uttar Pradesh electorate will also participate in phases five, six, and seven on May 20, May 23, and June 1, respectively.

Mathura is slated to go to the polls in the second phase of the general elections on April 26. The general elections for 543 Lok Sabha seats will take place in seven phases, commencing on April 19. Vote counting is scheduled for June 4.

Hema Malini to present dance drama based on ‘Ramayana’ in Ayodhya Dham

BJP Member of Parliament Hema Malini is set to present a dance drama based on the Hindu epic ‘Ramayana’ in Ayodhya ahead of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony. The ceremony is scheduled for January 22, 2024, and will witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with several VVIP guests from India and abroad.

In a video message, Hema Malini expressed her excitement about coming to Ayodhya for the first time during the ‘pranpratishtha’ of the Ram Temple, a moment eagerly awaited by people for years. She announced that on January 17, she would be presenting a dance drama based on the Ramayana in Ayodhya.

The Vedic rituals for the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla are set to commence on January 16, a week before the main ceremony. The consecration ceremony, to be performed by priest Lakshmi Kant Dixit from Varanasi, is scheduled for January 22. The period from January 14 to January 22 will be marked as Amrit Mahotsav in Ayodhya.

As part of the festivities, a 1008 Hundi Mahayagya will be organized, with thousands of devotees expected to be fed. Ayodhya is preparing to host a large number of devotees, and tent cities are being erected to accommodate them. The Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust has stated that arrangements will be made for 10,000-15,000 people. Local authorities are actively working on enhanced security measures and logistical arrangements to ensure a smooth and spiritually enriching experience for all attendees during the grand consecration ceremony.

Hema Malini and Dharmendra are one of the power couples in Bollywood. Today, on the occasion of their 43rd wedding anniversary, the gorgeous actress took to her official Twitter handle and penned a sweet post.

In one of her posts on Twitter, the veteran actress wrote, “Here are a few more spanning our years together.” In another post, she added, “I personally thank all those who have wished us on our wedding anniversary today. It has been a wonderful journey spanning 43 years of togetherness and with all your good wishes, will continue to be a smooth journey in tandem. Few photos over the years.”

Veteran actress Hema Malini is known for popular 1970-80s films like Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay, and Dream Girl.

For those unaware, in an interview with fashion designer-politician Shaina NC, the actress has revealed that she entered politics on the insistence of late actor Vinod Khanna. She said, “One day Vinod called to say, ‘I am fighting elections from Gurdaspur, I want you to campaign for me. I refused outright…but he insisted.” Further, Hema added, “She decided to join politics because it gave her a good platform to serve the people.

The ‘Sholay’ star also revealed that she never aimed to join politics. Her mother was very impressed with former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji. She said, “You must do it. So I took the plunge into a field I had no idea about. It’s important to learn about things you don’t know anything about.”

The actress-politician also served as the brand ambassador of Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad. In the same interview, she shared, “Mathura is very popular around the world, especially with Lord Krishna devotees. An initiative has been taken to promote the Braj culture, art, music, dance, and plays.” Hema continued that a lot of options for the entertainment of the tourists are being developed so that they not only visit the temples in Mathura but also learn about the reasons behind the city’s popularity.

On the work front, the actress was last seen in Shimla Mirchi with Rajkummar Rao and Rakul Preet Singh.

Actor-turned-politician Hema Malini has found herself at the receiving end of social media trolls with her latest tweet on the ‘Bihu’ festival.Bohag Bihu or Rongali Bihu, one of the biggest festivals of Assam, marks the beginning of the harvest period. The first day of the Hindu solar calendar is celebrated in the states of Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Kerala, Manipur, West Bengal among others with different names and traditions. On Thursday, Hema Malini wished everyone a happy harvest period. However, she made a huge faux pas by calling ‘Bihu’ the New Year for Bihar.

“It is the Harvest season now. Tamizh Puthandu (New year), Baisakhi (Punjab), Bihu (Bihar) and Pohela Baisakh or Naba Barsha (Bengal) are some of the festivals celebrated. Wish you all a wonderful festival month,” Hema Malini tweeted.

Eagle-eyed netizens pointed out the mistake and trolled the veteran actress.”Ma’am Bihu belongs to Assam. Kindly Correct your tweet,” another one wrote.
“You are absolutely wrong madam, Bihu belongs to Assam only, we just achieved Guinness world record today as maximum number of group dance performers in a single venue,” a netizen tweeted.After facing backlash, Hema Malini issued an apology.

Esha Deol is awestruck as mom Hema Malini performs ‘Ganga’ ballet in Mumbai

Bollywood veteran actress Hema Malini performed her Ganga Ballet in Mumbai on Sunday. The diva turned into a Ganga during her freestyle dance performance at the NCPA ground. Now, her daughter-actor Esha Deol has penned a note to praise her mom for her unique stage act. Esha took to her Twitter handle and dropped a stunning picture of Hema dancing in the air in a flowy blue and white outfit. Along with the stunning picture, she wrote, “Watched my mum [Hema Malini] perform Ganga on stage. Absolutely remarkable performance, visually stunning with a very strong message on our environment and river restoration. Must watch her next show. Love you mamma…”

‘It was my dream to perform such Ras’, says Hema Malini

On the occasion of Kartik Purnima, BJP MP and actor Hema Malini participated in Raas Mahotsav and performed a dance performance on ‘Radha Ras Bhari’.

Meanwhile, actor Hema Malini dressed in heavy ethnic attire paired with heavy jewelry and dramatic makeup as Goddess Radha.

At the event, BJP MP Malini also addressed the audience and said, “I performed a Radha Ras Bhari, which I have earlier presented at Vrindavan. But today it’s a different occasion. It was my dream to perform such Ras with the backdrop of moon.”

“While performing this Ras I imagined the scenario when Radha Krishna did this Ras in the historical era,” Malini said.

Moreover, in Dwaparayuga it is said that on Sharad Purnima Lord Krishna with Radha and Gopis created Raas which were named Maharas.

Earlier in 2015 and 2018 Padma Shri awardee presented dance and prepared the entire theme of Ras.
