</excerpt>

In a shocking turn of events, a case from Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras has surfaced, where a brother and sister allegedly got married, and several already-married couples tied the knot again in a fraudulent scheme to claim benefits meant for newlywed couples from economically weaker sections.

The scandal came to light after local residents lodged a complaint, prompting the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to initiate an investigation into the matter.

The Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana Scam

The fraud was executed under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, a government scheme designed to offer financial support to newly married couples. The scheme provides Rs 35,000 directly into the bride’s bank account, essential goods worth Rs 10,000, and Rs 6,000 to cover the marriage ceremony’s expenses.

According to reports, two already-married couples residing in Sikandrarao, Hathras, participated in a second wedding under the scheme to fraudulently claim these benefits. Shockingly, a case of a brother and sister marrying each other has also been reported as part of the scam.

Local Residents Expose the Fraud

Residents of the area raised concerns about these fake marriages and approached the SDM to investigate the issue. The complaint also implicated a municipal employee who allegedly arranged the fraudulent marriages to claim funds under the community marriage scheme.

SDM Ved Singh Chauhan has assured a thorough investigation into the matter, stating that appropriate action will be taken against those found guilty.

Mass Marriage Event Under Scrutiny

The fraudulent activity occurred during a mass marriage event held in Hathras on December 15, 2023, where 217 couples were married. The scale of the event has raised further suspicions, as investigations now focus on identifying how many of these marriages were legitimate.

The exposure of such fraudulent practices has sparked outrage and highlighted the need for stricter monitoring of government schemes to prevent misuse.

</excerpt>

Chairman Media and Publicity Department All India Congress Committee Pawan Khera expressed a contrasting critique on the the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections as he said that although Congress has accepted the mandate but the prime minister Narendra Modi has not been able to accept the mandate.

He said, “We have won even after losing and the BJP have lost even after winning. The country’s political face (the one who can lead the country) has changed altogether, now the face has become Rahul Gandhi, this has to be accepted and If Modi accepts it then only can he spend couple of years or some months in the government.”
When asked that the acongress’ marketing has been good which has obstructed the BJP’s absolute win, yet the mandate has been good enough for the ruling party to run the country, Khera responded, “When the BJP had 2 seats in 1980’s in the parliament, did they directly achieve the 200 seats in the subsequent elections? No they slowly went on to win more and more seats in the following elections, now you think, we can go from 50 to 400, that can only happen in Modi’s imaginations. We have worked hard, we have started to work harder, we have walked thousands of miles, let us not put Modi ji there but can Amit Shah do it, can he walk even a few miles?”

Asked why the Prime Minister Modi is being obstructed in the parliament, Khera responded by saying that since 10 years he has been speaking and all of us have been listening, but now there is a kind of monotony in his speeches, he is saying all the same again and again. Khera added, “He is saying Nehru did this, Nehru did not do this. Even if you ask BJP’s own people they are also tired of hearing these speeches, even Sangh parivar is tired of listening to these things. And by doing this we are helping Sangh parivar. We are just trying to tell them to answer on Agniveer, on NEET, on Hathras, we tell them to put down their work in front of the people.

</excerpt>

A devastating stampede at a religious gathering in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, has claimed the lives of at least 121 people. The incident occurred during a satsang led by religious preacher Bhole Baba in Ratibhanpur village, Sikandra Rau tehsil, on Tuesday. Reports indicate that over 15,000 devotees were present, exceeding the permitted limit, when the stampede ensued, primarily due to suffocation amid hot and humid conditions.

Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes as the event concluded and attendees rushed to leave, with many women caught in the commotion. The tragedy highlights ongoing concerns over crowd management and safety protocols at religious events across India, where past incidents have also led to significant casualties.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the stampede, emphasizing the need for effective crowd control measures and adherence to safety guidelines during such gatherings to prevent future tragedies.

The incident underscores broader challenges in managing large-scale religious gatherings, where factors like overcrowding, uneven terrain, and inadequate infrastructure contribute to heightened risks of stampedes. Efforts to implement stringent crowd management strategies and enhance public safety remain crucial in averting similar catastrophes in the future.

</excerpt>

Several flaws were discovered in the way the entire religious celebration in Hathras was planned, resulting in the terrible stampede that killed 121 people and injured several others on Tuesday. From no entry-exit points to a lack of emergency routes, Uttar Pradesh Police sources have identified serious blunders that contributed to the disaster, even as VVIP arrangements were made for religious preacher ‘Bhole Baba’.

According to the permission and the norms a gathering of 80,000 people should have different entry-exit points which was not followed at this event, even there were no entry exits found. At such a large gathering there was no medical team at the spot nor there were enough fans amid such hot and humid weather.

Also there was no barricading near the cavalcade of Baba because of which started running trying to get close to Baba.

According to police sources, the organisers failed to disclose the specific facts in their request for approval from the administration. According to insiders, the investigations thus far have revealed extreme carelessness in the manner in which approvals were granted by both the administration and the organisers.

A search operation was carried out at Ram Kutir Charitable Trust in Mainpuri district to find Baba Narayan Hari, also known as Saakar Vishwa Hari Bhole Baba. ‘We were unable to locate Baba ji on campus. He’s not here.’ Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar said.

</excerpt>

A tragic stampede at a religious gathering organized by a self-styled godman in Hathras has resulted in the loss of 121 lives, predominantly women, amid scenes of chaos and mismanagement.

The Hathras incident occurred as approximately 2.5 lakh devotees gathered for the event, despite official permission only allowing 80,000 attendees. Following the conclusion of the ‘satsang’ and the departure of the godman’s convoy, a rush ensued among devotees eager to collect soil touched by the godman or to see his vehicle up close.

Organizers reportedly attempted to create a pathway for the convoy, leading to a buildup of people on both sides, which contributed to the stampede. High humidity, slippery ground conditions due to recent rains, and the urgency among devotees to board buses for their return exacerbated the situation.

Local authorities and the state police have launched a detailed investigation, with the Director General of Police and Chief Secretary present at the scene. Initial findings suggest severe mismanagement by event organizers and inadequate deployment of police to handle the large crowd.

Witness accounts reveal that many women tried to approach the godman’s vehicle, triggering further chaos. Hospitals struggled to cope with the influx of injured victims following the stampede, highlighting the scale of the tragedy and the urgent need for medical assistance.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has vowed strict action against those found responsible for the negligence that led to the stampede. The incident has sparked outrage and grief across the region, prompting demands for accountability and improved safety measures at large-scale gatherings.

A devastating stampede during a religious gathering in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district has claimed the lives of at least 107 people, predominantly women. The incident unfolded during a ‘Satsang’ gathering in Rati Bhanpur village, Sikandra Rau area, Hathras, where a religious preacher addressed a large crowd under a specially erected tent.

Police reports suggest that the stampede occurred due to suffocation, exacerbated by the sweltering heat and humidity. As discomfort grew among attendees, panic ensued, leading to a chaotic rush. “It was a satsang meeting of Bhole Baba, a religious preacher. A temporary permission was granted for gathering at the spot on the border of Etah and Hathras district on Tuesday afternoon,” said Inspector General Shalabh Mathur of Aligarh Range.

Among the victims identified are Ganga Devi (70) from Hathras, Priyanka (20) from Kasganj, Jasoda (70) from Mathura, and Saroj Lata (60) from Etah. Tragically, two children, Kavya (4) and Ayush (8) from Shahjahnpur, also lost their lives in the stampede.

Survivors recounted harrowing scenes as the event concluded, with attendees rushing to leave the venue. “There was a huge crowd gathered of followers at the spot. There was no way out, and everybody fell on each other, and a stampede took place. When I tried to move out, there were motorcycles parked outside, which blocked my way. Many fainted while others died,” described a victim receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Authorities, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, expressed profound grief over the incident. He has directed swift rescue and relief efforts in Hathras district, ordering a thorough investigation led by ADG Agra and Commissioner Aligarh to determine the causes of this tragic stampede.
