</excerpt>

At a grand celebration held to commemorate Parshuram Jayanti, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini called upon the youth to embrace the teachings, philosophy and ideology of Lord Parshuram, emphasising that these timeless values are essential for shaping a Viksit Bharat and a progressive Haryana.
The event, which witnessed the enthusiastic participation of thousands from all 36 communities, was marked by inspiring speeches from Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma, former Union Minister Vinod Sharma, Haryana Cabinet Minister Arvind Sharma, and Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma.

The leaders highlighted Lord Parshuram’s enduring ideals, courage, wisdom, and selfless service as guiding principles for India’s journey toward inclusive development and social harmony.
CM Saini called upon the youth to awaken the spirit of Lord Parshuram within themselves to contribute to a strong and spiritually rich India. “Parshuram Ji was the flag-bearer of the battle against adharma. His ideals of truth, integrity, and righteousness must inspire our journey toward a developed nation,” Saini said.
He drew parallels between Parshuram’s fight against injustice and modern initiatives like Digital India, Startup India, and Make inIndia, urging citizens to pledge to make India a “Vishwaguru” again. Saini announced significant measures, including naming a new medical college in Kaithal after Lord Parshuram and declaringParshuram Jayanti a gazetted holiday in Haryana.

He also confirmed the allocation of land to Gaur Brahmin College in Paharawar village and contribution of Rs 31 lakh for the event. Highlighting his government’s commitment to inclusive development, Saini said, “We are moving forward with the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,’ following the path shown by Lord Parshuram.” Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak praisedSaini’s leadership, stating, “CM Nayab Saini will leave no stone unturned in upholding the honor of Haryana’s people.”
Pathak prayed for Lord Parshuram’s Blessings for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to defeat forces working against national interests. He lauded India’s strength under Modi’s leadership, saying, “Just as Parshuram eradicated injustice with knowledge and weaponry, our PrimeMinister is capable of teaching enemy nations a stern lesson today.”
Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma, a key organizer of the event, announced the transformative ‘Parshuram Gyan Ganga Centre’ initiative, aimed at revolutionising education for underprivileged youth across the state. He said that under this programme, high-quality libraries and coaching centres will be established in community halls across Haryana’s 22 districts, offering free coaching for competitive exams like UPSC,HCS, NEET, and JEE.
“Retired officers and subject experts will guide students to ensure no talented youth is deprived of opportunities,” Sharma said expressing confidence that each center would produce at least IAS, IPS, and other top officers.
He also demanded the establishment of hostels named after Lord Parshuram to support community students and urged youth to maintain cleanliness around Parshuram statues through weekly drives.

He urged the chief minister to set up Bhagwan Parshuram student Hostels in every distrcits and creation of Brahman Ayog in the state. The Rajya Sabha MP said efforts should also be made to increase the number of MD and MS seats at the Gaur Brahmin Ayurvedic College. He further suggested that either a law college or a medical college should be established on the land in Peharawar.
The age limit for EWS (Economically Weaker Section) candidates should be increased so that all 36 communities can benefit from this provision, the MP. Kartikeya Sharma said, “It’s true that India is the land of Lord Buddha, a land of peace—not war. But let us not forget that India is also the land of Lord Parshuram. And when Lord Parshuram wields his axe, then no matter where in the world India’s enemies may be hiding, they should know this — that our country is led by a Prime Minister who says, ‘We will neither speak with lowered eyes, nor with raised ones — we will speak while looking straight into their eyes.’

“Former minister Venod Sharma announced to donate Rs 1 crore to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund in memory of the martyrs of the Pahalgam attack. “Every citizen must contribute wholeheartedly when the nation faces a crisis,” he said, warning neighbouring countries that under PM Modi’s Leadership, India would respond decisively to provocations. His act of generosity became a centrepiece of the event, symbolising patriotism and public service. The leaders collectively emphasized the importance of education and cultural strength in achieving PM Modi’s vision of developed India by 2047.
Saini assured that all demands raised by Kartikeya Sharma, including those related to EBP category candidates and land ownership rights for Doli land, would be addressed promptly. The event also saw the presence of prominent figures like Kalka MLA Shakti Rani Sharma, former Tripura CM Biplab Deb, and Olympian Yogeshwar Dutt.

</excerpt>

In a heated political exchange over pollution, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched a scathing attack on former Delhi Chief Minister AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of being the “biggest polluter” and failing to deliver on his decade-old promise to clean the Yamuna River.
Speaking to reporters in Kurukshetra, Saini claimed Kejriwal’s inaction had worsened the pollution crisis, with untreated wastewater from 28 drains in Delhi flowing directly into the river. “Kejriwal couldn’t even fulfil his first promise—cleaning the Yamuna—despite being in power for years. He is himself a source of pollution,” Saini said, further predicting that the BJP would sweep next year’s Delhi elections and oust the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from power.
The political slugfest took another turn when Delhi Chief Minister Atishi retaliated, blaming the BJP’s “dirty politics” for the pollution crisis. She argued that the BJP had failed to address industrial wastewater discharge into the Yamuna and was using political rhetoric to avoid accountability. Atishi also criticized Saini’s government for questioning AAP’s efforts without acknowledging the challenges posed by untreated water inflows from Haryana.
Saini, doubling down on his allegations, demanded that the AAP disclose how it had utilized the funds allocated by the central government for river-cleaning projects.
The war of words reflects the growing tension between Haryana and Delhi, with both governments shifting blame over the worsening environmental situation in the region. As political leaders gear up for elections, the Yamuna’s pollution has become a flashpoint, raising questions about governance, inter-state cooperation, and accountability in addressing ecological issues.

In response to Atishi’s accusations, Saini questions the Delhi government’s handling of Rs 6,000 crore funds meant for Yamuna cleaning, calling for accountability.
</excerpt>

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has sharply criticized Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for allegedly deflecting blame over the deteriorating condition of the Yamuna River. Saini accused the Delhi government of misleading the public and failing to address the real sources of pollution.

Accusations of Habitual Lying

Saini did not mince words, accusing the AAP government of being “habitual liars” and constantly shifting the blame onto others instead of taking responsibility. He emphasized that the Haryana government has consistently provided clean water to Delhi, with a biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) of 2-3 mg per litre, far below harmful levels.

“The water we supply through the CLC canal is nearly free of pollutants,” Saini pointed out. “But the Delhi government must explain who is responsible for the 28 drains of untreated water flowing from Delhi into the Yamuna.”

Misuse of Yamuna Action Plan Funds?

The Haryana CM went on to question how Delhi’s government has used the Rs 6,000 crore allocated by the Centre for the Yamuna Action Plan, including Rs 3,000 crore received over the past two years. “What did they do with that money?” Saini asked, demanding transparency and accountability from the AAP administration.

Atishi’s Counterclaims: Blame on BJP

In a counterattack, Delhi CM Atishi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in “dirty politics” to obscure the real cause behind rising pollution levels in the city. According to Atishi, the BJP governments in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are responsible for increasing stubble burning and releasing industrial waste into the Yamuna.

Atishi also highlighted the Delhi government’s efforts to combat pollution, such as the introduction of CNG and electric buses, in contrast to the diesel buses from neighboring states. She questioned why Haryana and UP haven’t followed suit, alleging that they prefer to “play politics with the health of Delhi residents.”

Action Promised by Delhi Govt

Despite the escalating war of words, Atishi assured the public that the Delhi government, under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, is actively working to address both air and water pollution. She promised that defoaming efforts in the Yamuna River would begin again soon to counter the toxic foam formation.

</excerpt>

Asserting that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is committed to the national progress and empowering the poor and downtrodden, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the meeting of NDA chief ministers was fruitful as the extensive discussions were held on aspects of good governance and ways to improve people’s lives during the meeting.

The five hours conclave, which followed the swearing-in ceremony of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for a second term, held political significance ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, as well as in the aftermath of recent polls in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, PM Modi underscored the importance of good governance and shared his vision for improving the lives of citizens across NDA-ruled states. In a post on social media platform X, he stated, “Chaired a meeting of NDA Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers. We had extensive discussions on aspects of good governance and ways to improve people’s lives. Our alliance is committed to furthering national progress and empowering the poor and downtrodden.”

The gathering brought together key figures from various NDA states, including Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and BJP President J P Nadda, alongside prominent Chief Ministers. The agenda revolved around development issues, celebrating the ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ of the Constitution, and marking the 50th anniversary of the Emergency—a period many view as an “attempt to murder” democracy.

After the discussions, BJP National President J P Nadda elaborated on the outcomes of the meeting, revealing that six proposals were discussed and unanimously passed. “Terming it as the biggest non-Congress congression, the PM emphasized that through governance, people’s problems should be resolved. He introduced the focus on ‘Pro-people, Pro-governance – P2G2’ to take it forward. Today, 17 CMs and 18 Deputy CMs of NDA-ruled states participated,” Nadda stated.

According to Nadda, the Prime Minister remarked that for the first time since independence, the oath ceremony in Jammu and Kashmir was conducted in accordance with the Indian Constitution, whereas previously it followed the Constitution of Jammu & Kashmir. During the meeting he said that, “ Union Minister Amit Shah proposed that in 2025, we would reflect on how democracy was undermined during the Emergency. Next year, we will commemorate the 150th birth anniversaries of Birsa Munda and Sardar Patel, as well as the 100th birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee”

Whereas, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu highlighted our strides towards a self-reliant India, while Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh reviewed our progress under the Digital India initiative.

One of the significant proposals was introduced by Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, highlighting the BJP’s success in Haryana, attributed to PM Modi’s policies.
Nadda noted, “BJP received robust support from farmers, youth, and athletes in Haryana,” indicating the party’s growing influence among key voter demographics.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also proposed to celebrate the ‘Samvidhan Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in 2025, reflecting a continued emphasis on constitutional values and democratic principles.

Echoing the sentiments of unity and optimism, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar remarked, “We have full confidence; we have done good work. The meeting was very good. The PM gave four hours and listened to everyone; he also spoke what was on his mind. Now, everyone will work accordingly.”

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated, “This meeting offered a fresh perspective on development and cooperation across our respective states for the future. The Prime Minister has assigned us several important tasks.”
As the NDA positions itself for the forthcoming electoral challenges, this meeting serves as a platform for strategic discussions and a show of strength. ahead of crucial elections.

</excerpt>

In a calculated move aimed at maintaining caste and regional equilibrium, the Bharatiya Janata Party unveiled its new cabinet under Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who was sworn in for a second consecutive term to lead the third BJP-led government in the state in a row.

The newly appointed cabinet is a mosaic of leaders from key communities, demonstrating the BJP’s strategic balancing act between caste and region. Along with Nayab Saini, the ministers sworn in include Anil Vij, Krishna Lal Panwar, Rao Narbir Singh, Mahipal Dhanda, Vipul Goel, Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma, Shyam Singh Rana, Ranbir Gangwa, Krishna Kumar Bedi, Shruti Choudhary, and Aarti Singh Rao. Additionally, Rajesh Nagar and Gaurav Gautam took oath as Ministers of State (Independent Charge).

Held with much fanfare, the swearing-in ceremony saw the attendance of prominent BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, BJP president JP Nadda, and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal.
The BJP, which secured an unprecedented third consecutive win in the recent Assembly elections, has meticulously crafted its cabinet with a balanced mix of caste groups. This strategy not only reflects the party’s outreach to various communities but also highlights its electoral arithmetic in a state that has historically been dominated by Jats.

The newly-formed Haryana cabinet, comprising 13 BJP MLAs, presents a carefully calibrated caste mosaic. It includes five OBC leaders—Chief Minister Nayab Saini, Ranbir Gangwa, Aarti Rao, Rao Narbir, and Rajesh Nagar—underscoring the party’s commitment to consolidating OBC support. The Brahmin community is represented by two leaders: Arvind Sharma and Gaurav Gautam. Similarly, two Jat leaders, Shruti Choudhary and Mahipal Dhanda, have secured their positions, signaling the BJP’s outreach to this traditionally Congress-leaning group. Dalit representation comes from veteran leaders Krishan Bedi and Krishan Lal Panwar. The cabinet further reflects diversity with Sham Singh Rana from the Rajput community, Anil Vij as the lone Punjabi representative, and Vipul Goel from the Bania community, ensuring a broad-based alliance across caste lines.

With more focus on OBCs, Dalits and Brahmins, this caste balance is seen as a key factor in ensuring broad-based support across the state, particularly after the BJP managed to pull off a victory despite the Congress gaining significant traction in Jat-dominated areas.
Nayab Saini, a leader from the OBC community, has secured his place in Haryana’s political history by becoming the second OBC Chief Minister in the state, following in the footsteps of Rao Birender Singh, who held the position in 1967. The BJP’s decision to appoint four additional OBC ministers underscores the party’s focus on consolidating its OBC vote bank.
The Jat community, which constitutes around 20–25% of Haryana’s population, has traditionally aligned with the Congress. However, the BJP’s decision to include two key Jat leaders—Shruti Chaudhary, daughter of Rajya Sabha MP Kiran Chaudhary, and two-time MLA Mahipal Dhanda from Panipat (Rural)—is seen as a strategic effort to bridge the gap and gain inroads into the community. Despite a significant portion of Jat votes swinging towards Congress in the elections, the BJP managed to split the vote and secure 28% of it, which proved crucial in their victory. From the Brahmin community, the BJP inducted Palwal MLA Gaurav Gautam and two-time Lok Sabha MP Arvind Sharma into the Cabinet. This move is significant, as the Brahmins, being a politically influential group, had been expecting greater representation in the power corridors. By appointing two Brahmins, the BJP has managed to maintain the delicate balance of power among upper-caste communities.

Further two Dalits, who make up a sizeable portion of Haryana’s population, have not been left behind in the new cabinet composition. Six-time MLA Krishna Lal Panwar and two-time MLA Krishna Bedi were sworn in, ensuring the BJP’s commitment to inclusivity while keeping the Dalit vote base intact. However, facing setbacks across several districts, including its traditional bastion along the GT Road belt, the BJP has notably reduced the representation of the Punjabi and Baniya communities in the new cabinet. Veteran leader Anil Vij, who was surprisingly left out of Nayab Saini’s first cabinet, has secured a spot this time, emerging as the sole Punjabi voice in the council. His inclusion reflects the BJP’s strategic intent to maintain support within the influential Punjabi community, which wields significant political clout in the urban pockets of Haryana. Similarly, Vipul Goel is the only leader from the Baniya community to secure a cabinet berth, signaling the party’s attempt to retain its foothold among this crucial business-oriented voter base.

The inclusion of diverse caste groups in the Nayab Saini Cabinet sends a clear political message: the BJP is positioning itself as a party that represents all communities, irrespective of the historical divides that have shaped Haryana’s political landscape. This inclusive approach is being viewed as a masterstroke, especially given the caste sensitivities that play a central role in Haryana’s electoral dynamics.

With a clear focus on regional representation, the BJP has ensured that leaders from various parts of the state are included, striking a geographic balance alongside the caste calculus. Particular emphasis has been placed on the BJP’s strongholds along the GT Road belt and the Ahirwal region. Four key leaders—Nayab Saini, Anil Vij, Krishan Panwar, and Mahipal Dhanda—hail from the GT Road region, reinforcing the party’s dominance there. Meanwhile, Aarti Rao and Rao Narbir Singh represent the politically significant Ahirwal belt.
Additionally, Vipul Goel and Rajesh Nagar bring representation from the Faridabad district, with Rao Narbir and Gaurav Gautam from Palwal, Arvind Sharma from Sonipat, Ranbir Gangwa from Hisar, Sham Singh Rana from Yamunanagar, Shruti Choudhary from Bhiwani, and Krishan Bedi from Jind district securing cabinet positions.

However, Karnal—once the epicenter of power under former Chief Minister Manohar Lal—has failed to secure a single cabinet berth, even though the BJP swept all five assembly seats from the district. However, speculation is rife that Gharaunda MLA Harvinder Kalyan may be offered the position of Assembly Speaker, a move that could help compensate for the district’s absence in the new cabinet lineup.

</excerpt>

A day after the voting for the high-stake Haryana Assembly elections, the political atmosphere is charged with ruling BJP and the opposition Congress, expressing strong confidence in securing a decisive victory. Contrary to the predictions of comfortable majority to the Congress in the exit polls, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed his confidence in the BJP’s ability to form the government without the need for alliances, while former Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda predicted a sweeping victory for Congress, citing overwhelming public support for the party.
The Chief Minister said he believed that the BJP will secure a majority and form the government on its own. Dismissing the need for alliances, Saini asserted that the BJP has a well-structured campaign and robust party organisation behind it. “We will not need any kind of alliance. I have said from the very beginning that the BJP will form the government alone. We have all the arrangements in place,” Saini said.

He expressed gratitude towards the top leadership of the party, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, for guiding the campaign. Confident of victory, Saini remarked, “We will form the government with a full majority on October 8. I have this report. On the 8th, the people will give their answer, and Congress will say, ‘EVM hai kharab’ (faulty EVMs).”
Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who led the state from 2005 to 2014, is equally optimistic about a Congress victory. Hooda believes that the people of Haryana have decided to bring the Congress back to power with a significant majority, citing dissatisfaction with the BJP-JJP coalition government that ruled the state from 2014 to 2024.

“I want to thank all the voters of Haryana for conducting peaceful elections. The people have made up their minds to bring the Congress party to power with a huge majority. Congress was in power from 2005 to 2014, and people have seen our achievements, while they have also seen how the BJP-JJP government failed over the past decade,” Hooda stated.

Congress MP Kumari Selja supported Hooda’s optimism, stating that, based on her assessment, Congress would win over 60 seats. “Congress is seen as a viable alternative, and there was heavy anti-incumbency, especially among weaker sections who felt suppressed under BJP rule. Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra was a turning point,” Selja said.

Other Congress leaders echoed the confidence of Hooda and Selja. Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan predicted that the party would break its 2005 record of 67 seats, estimating a win of around 70 seats. “The BJP did not fulfil a single commitment made to the public. The people have shown faith in the Congress party’s guarantees,” he said.
Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda emphasized that Congress is making a comeback not just in Haryana but across North India, crediting Rahul Gandhi’s leadership during the Bharat Jodo Yatra for changing the mood in Haryana. “Our aim was to bring about change and establish Congress governance. The public will end the misrule of the BJP,” he remarked.

On the BJP front, Ambala Cantt candidate Anil Vij dismissed exit poll results favoring Congress, insisting that the BJP would secure a strong victory. “Exit polls have been wrong before. The vote percentage in Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s constituency decreased by 5%, while in my constituency, it increased by 3%. This means the public’s support for Congress has decreased,” Vij stated confidently.

Amid the battle between the BJP and Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also staked its claim, with Haryana AAP President Sushil Gupta stating that AAP’s entire campaign was centered around removing the “corrupt BJP government” from power. “The BJP will be removed from power.

AAP will get a significant vote share in the Haryana assembly elections,” Gupta asserted.
As both major parties, BJP and Congress, prepare for the results, it remains to be seen which party will ultimately form the next government in the state which has 90 assembly seats with the BJP banking on its organizational strength and Congress hoping that anti-incumbency and Rahul Gandhi’s campaign will tip the scales in its favour.

</excerpt>

Even as Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini patting his back about the decision to procure all 24 notified crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has dismissed the announcement as a mere political ploy.

The SKM-an umbrella body of around 40 farmer unions of the country, argued that the announcement of procurement on MSPs, which exclude the C2+50% formula and lack legally guaranteed procurement, are insufficient and merely a ploy to gain farmers’ votes ahead of upcoming elections.

The CM’s announcement, made during a BJP rally, has been labeled by SKM as an “election stunt,” aimed at appeasing the farmer community without addressing their core demands. According to SKM, the current MSP for paddy for the year 2024-25 stands at Rs. 2300 per quintal, based on the A2+FL model which includes the cost of cultivation and family labor. However, this is substantially lower than the C2+50% formula recommended by the National Commission on Farmers, chaired by MS Swaminathan, which totals Rs. 3012 per quintal.

The SKM highlighted that the discrepancy between the current MSP and the C2+50% formula results in significant financial losses for farmers, claiming that Haryana’s paddy farmers, who produced 54.1 lakh tonnes in 2023-24, have already incurred a staggering loss of Rs. 3851.90 crore. The shortfall in MSP across 24 crops is expected to reveal the true anti-farmer stance of the BJP and the Saini administration, according to SKM.
Adding to the discontent, the SKM criticized the lack of legally binding procurement commitments, stating that the absence of a guaranteed procurement system forces farmers to sell their produce to intermediaries and large agribusinesses, resulting in exploitation and financial losses.

The SKM has scheduled a state-level meeting on August 20 to strategize on “massive actions” against the BJP. The agenda includes demands for MSP based on the C2+50% formula with guaranteed procurement, a comprehensive loan waiver, and halting the privatization of the power sector. Furthermore, SKM plans to honor the 736 farmer martyrs from the Delhi border protests by constructing a memorial at Singhu and Tikri Border. The SKM leaders announced that they will launch village-level campaigns to mobilize farmers and the public, aiming to “Expose, Oppose, and Punish” the BJP in the forthcoming Haryana Assembly elections.

</excerpt>

After being sworn in as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Karnal, Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed gratitude to the people of Karnal for their trust in him and voiced confidence in winning the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

“I want to express my gratitude towards the public of Karnal for making me victorious in by-elections. With this victory, the Karnal’s public has signalled their approval for the Bharatiya Janata Party victory in upcoming assembly elections in October,” said Saini.

He added, “Bharatiya Janata Party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will secure a huge mandate and establish a government in Haryana for the third consecutive term.”

Highlighting the developmental achievements under PM Modi’s leadership, Saini stated, “In the last nine and half years’ reign of PM Narendra Modi, Haryana has achieved new heights in development with the motto of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. The way Haryana is leading without any regionalism sentiments and corruption and working towards the welfare of everyone, it will lead and develop on the same pace in future under the leadership of Modi Ji.”

Earlier in the day, Saini took oath as MLA of Karnal at the Haryana Assembly complex under the administration of Assembly Speaker, Gyan Chand Gupta. He had recently won the assembly by-elections in the Karnal assembly constituency.

Saini, who was serving as the Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency, was sworn in as Chief Minister of the state just before the announcement of Lok Sabha election dates. He also served as the state president of Haryana BJP.

In the Lok Sabha Polls in Haryana, the BJP won 5 seats while the Congress also won 5 seats. The BJP registered a vote share of 46.11 per cent while the Congress registered a vote share of 43.67 per cent and its alliance partner the Aam Admi Party registered a vote share of 3.94 per cent. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won all 10 seats from the state.

Amidst soaring temperatures and a severe water shortage in the national capital, Delhi’s Water Minister, Atishi, has officially reached out to the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. In letters dated May 31, 2024, Atishi has sought additional water supplies from both states to guarantee access to clean drinking water for Delhi residents until the arrival of the monsoon.

Delhi’s Water Minister Atishi writes to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, requesting additional release of water to Delhi for a period of one month pic.twitter.com/u8zrn5dbMm

Atishi has written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, requesting a one-month release of extra water to assist the capital in handling the crisis.

“The government of NCT of Delhi is doing its maximum best to increase the production capacity of its water treatment plants. However, the intensity of the heatwave is such that we would require help from all quarters to cater to the people of Delhi,” Atishi wrote.

She emphasized the noble principle of providing water to the thirsty, citing its roots in ancient texts, and urged Uttar Pradesh to aid during this critical period.

In a parallel plea to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Atishi highlighted a substantial decrease in the water level at the Wazirabad Barrage, currently at 670.3 feet compared to the normal level of 674.50 feet. This decline has adversely affected the output of Delhi’s water treatment plants.

“In order to tackle the existing crises, we urgently need Haryana to release additional water into the Yamuna River at the earliest,” Atishi said.

She pointed out that the Delhi government has already taken steps to curb water wastage, such as rationalizing water distribution. However, the current supply is inadequate to meet the increased demand.

</excerpt>

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini of Haryana dealt an important setback on Tuesday when three Independent MLAs declared they would no longer be supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and would instead be supporting the Congress. The current administration now only has a minority in the state assembly as a result of this action.

The government of Nayab Singh Saini, which was previously supported by two other Independent MLAs, is currently unable to secure a majority in the 90-member Haryana assembly, which currently has 88 members.

The Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) has ten MLAs in the Haryana assembly, whereas the Congress has thirty and the BJP has forty. In the presence of state Congress president Udai Bhan and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the Independent MLAs—Sombir Sangwan (Dadri), Randhir Singh Gollen (Pundri), and Dharampal Gonder (Nilokheri)—made their announcement at a press conference in Rohtak.

March saw the JJP pull out of the coalition government, and lately, a few of its MLAs made suggestions that they would provide the BJP their support. But, denouncing the current administration as “anti-people,” Bhupinder Singh Hooda demanded the resignation of the government and proposed enforcing presidential rule followed by elections.

Leader of the JJP Digvijay Singh Chautala asked Hooda to act to remove the administration, pointing out that the public no longer trusted it. The Congress attested to the fact that the three MLAs had formally withdrawn their support for the administration in letters they had already written to the governor.

Dharampal Gonder gave a number of reasons for their decision to rescind funding, including concerns about farmers, inflation, and unemployment. Udai Bhan said that the Nayab Singh Saini government is now in the minority and that the Chief Minister should step down right away due to the JJP and Independents’ loss of support.

October is the planned month for the Haryana assembly elections. At present, the Independent MLAs number seven, the JJP has ten, and the BJP has forty MLAs. The Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) each have one MLA, compared to the Congress’ thirty MLAs.

With no party controlling a majority in the assembly, Haryana is on the verge of a hung parliament. According to expectations, the governor would extend an invitation to the head of the largest party, currently the BJP, to form a government for ten days. The party has the chance to get other parties’ support during this time. In the event of a failure, the governor has the authority to dissolve the state legislature and call new elections.

The Congress has nominated Divyanshu Buddhiraja against Khattar and Tarlochan Singh against Saini.

The Karnal Lok Sabha constituency consists of nine assembly segments.
“We will win 10 out of 10 seats in Haryana and will also win the 11th seat by-election which is being held in Karnal,” said the Chief Minister.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in the state, the BJP achieved a clean sweep, securing all 10 seats, with the Karnal Lok Sabha seat witnessing a voter turnout of 68.31 percent. The BJP’s candidate, Sanjay Bhatia, secured a significant victory, winning by a margin of over 6 lakh votes in the previous Lok Sabha election.

In the 2014 elections, the BJP won 7 seats, while the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secured 2 seats, and the Congress managed to secure only one seat. Ashwini Kumar, representing the BJP, had also won from the Karnal Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 elections.

The Lok Sabha elections for Haryana’s 10 parliamentary constituencies are scheduled to take place in a single phase on May 25th. Arvind Kumar Sharma, who previously won Karnal twice in 2009 and 2004 as a Congress candidate, is now contesting as a BJP candidate from Rohtak against Congress’ Deepender Singh Hooda.
