This follows multiple fires at the Bandhwari landfill and Aravali forest, worsening pollution and raising health concerns among residents.
</excerpt>

The Gurugram pollution disaster has gone into overdrive after several major fires at Bandhwari dumpsite and within the Aravali forest. The crisis attained new levels of public indignation after a revolting clip from the city was shared extensively on social media. The footage, taken by someone in a high-rise complex in Sector 58, caught the city shrouded by heavy clouds of smoke from combustible waste. It was posted by a media practitioner, who said the atmosphere was one of ‘hill station vibes’.

The clip became viral within no time, and reactions poured in. Some doubted local authorities, while others were worried about the health hazards such extreme pollution could pose. Times Now was not able to establish the date, location, or originality of the clip.

By way of background, two huge blazes broke out in the Aravali hills on April 26, preceded by a fire at the Bandhwari dump on the same day. In the video, the caption is: “Another good morning from kudagram #Gurgaon #Gurugram. That’s Sector 58 for you. The millennium city gives a hill station feel as the clouds of waste fires engulf the place. That’s what we live in and what we breathe as burning is the preferred mode of #WasteManagement here. RIP #AQI @CAQM_Official @CPCB_OFFICIAL #AirQuality #pollution #waste.”

Posted by the handle ‘sumedhasharma86’ on X (formerly Twitter), the video gained more than 143,000 views within two days. The video has caused widespread anger among locals, with many taking to social media to express their frustration with the continued pollution.

Here are the Reactions:

One user expressed their dismay: “But people are still adamant & buying costly houses from their hard earned money in fomo, thinking that it will all get ok, one fine day, least knowing our lives are limited to hope for a hope, which looks like a hope for a very very long time!!!!”

Another user commented, “Another morning choking on smoke in Sector 58 Gurgaon. We’ve turned the Millennium City into a gas chamber. This isn’t fog—it’s the toxic cloud of open waste fires. Welcome to the hill station vibes of burning garbage. WasteManagement on paper only.”

A third user posted a personal anecdote: “Morning Whatsapp Messages: My cook was reporting it began at 1:30 am at night. He could not breathe and he smelt like burning plastic.”. It’s from the Ghata Gaon side.”

Another user pointed out the absence of government accountability, saying, “The good thing is that however much you scream, nobody will hear you. All the officers live in a settlement with each other. Nobody cares.”

While this problem keeps on being talked about, the current pollution epidemic in Gurugram continues to be a serious cause for worry.

Despite serious injuries and FIR registration, the accused remain at large.
</excerpt>

What was supposed to be a jovial and quiet breakfast ride was turned into hell for a pack of eleven bikers in Gurugram when an allegedly drunken man gang attacked them, vandalized their luxury motorbikes, and threatened their lives. The attack has turned viral on the internet, creating public outcry and calls for justice.

The assault took place when the bikers were traveling from Ambience Mall to Panchgaon in Manesar. Hardik Sharma, one of the badly hurt riders, recounts the experience and his efforts afterwards to track the accused through Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.

“They Hit Me With an Iron Bat” — Biker Recalls Horror

“They hit me with an iron bat. I survived because of my helmet,” Hardik Sharma informed NDTV, narrating the brutality he suffered. He continued, “They also said that they will shoot me if I shoot their videos.” The gang was intercepted near Dwarka Expressway by a black Scorpio car that swerved perilously close to the bikers’ vehicles.

“Bhaiya, sorry. Sorry bhaiya. Bhaiya, bhaiya, bhaiya, please” : Biker pleads as he is smacked with stick, assaulted; superbike damaged in Gurugram pic.twitter.com/FYjmj3xnhU

— STELLA (@BrownKhaleesi) April 21, 2025

“They were drunk and had glasses in their hands,” Sharma said. “They got out of the vehicle and started hitting one of my friends. When we intervened, they started damaging our bikes. Meanwhile, some of my friends fled the scene to avoid damage to the bikes, as they are very expensive. Each bike costs around Rs 20 to Rs 25 lakh.”

The bikers, who were all on high-end bikes, were attacked without provocation, Sharma said. “I also left, but a friend was left behind. So, I stopped my bike and went back on foot to save him. But by the time I could reach him, he had left, and one of the drunk men took my bike. They started damaging it. They hit me with an iron bat. I survived because of my helmet. They kicked me, hit my hand with the bat,” he said.

AI Tools Assist in Identification of Accused, But Arrests Not Yet Made

While the physical bruises, Sharma volunteered to identify the accused through some sophisticated AI-based facial recognition software. “We use some paid AIs on which if you upload photos or videos, it can lead you to the social media of the person in them if they have a public profile. So, we found them on Instagram and we also gave the police the details. We showed them the media of the gym where they worked out,” he clarified.

But he was disappointed at the slow progress in the case. “Even after all this, there have been no arrests,” Sharma said. He also wondered at the motive for the random attack. “I don’t even know why they started hitting us. They didn’t say anything, just started attacking us. I also want them to pay for the damage to my bike.”

FIR Filed After 12-Hour Struggle Across Police Stations

Sharma complained that it took 12 hours for the First Information Report (FIR) to be registered. “I had to go to several police stations as they were telling me that the area doesn’t fall under their jurisdiction. The whole process was going on from 8 am and completed at 8 pm. Then the FIR was lodged.”

Apart from his injuries, Sharma added that his bicycle was also severely damaged. “It’s a very expensive bike. It costs Rs 11 lakh. They damaged the bike and damaged the accessories worth Rs 3 to 4 lakh that I installed. The damage rounds up to around Rs 4 to Rs 5 lakh,” he added.

Police Start Probe, Suspect Identified

Gurugram Police informed that the accused were identified through CCTV cameras and attempts are being made to arrest them. Sharma’s AI-based identification and the viral videos have reportedly been central to the investigation.

While the pursuit of justice goes on, Sharma and his group of bikers are demanding action and accountability. The violent attack not only resulted in monetary loss but also left a traumatic experience on what was supposed to be a joyful ride and bonding experience.

She alleged explicit messages, false accusations, and employer interference, urging action against online harassment.
</excerpt>

A woman from Gurugram, Gunisha Sahni, has accused a man from Uttar Pradesh, Harshit Gupta, of harassing her for two years. In a LinkedIn post, Sahni alleged that Gupta repeatedly sent her inappropriate and explicit messages and even contacted her employer with false claims, attempting to defame her.

Cybercrime Complaint Filed

After enduring persistent harassment, Sahni has now filed a cybercrime complaint against Gupta. She revealed that his actions had severely impacted her mental and physical well-being. Expressing her distress, she warned that if she were to take any extreme step, Gupta would be held responsible.

“Harshit Gupta, a fellow alumnus of Bennett University, has been relentlessly harassing me since 2023. He has not only sent me inappropriate messages without my consent but has also tried to tarnish my reputation by spreading false accusations. Most recently, he even harassed my employer with baseless claims,” Sahni stated.

She emphasized that she had ignored his actions for a long time, but the situation had escalated beyond online harassment, directly affecting her well-being. She assured that she would take further legal action to put an end to it.

Pattern of False Accusations

Sahni further claimed that she was not the only one facing such harassment from Gupta. According to her, he has a pattern of targeting individuals and contacting their employers with false allegations.

“If anything happens to me, it will be solely due to the relentless harassment I have endured at the hands of Harshit Gupta. I refuse to let my career and reputation be ruined by malicious lies,” she asserted.

She urged people to report Gupta’s profile if he approached them with baseless accusations. Expressing gratitude to those who supported her, she stressed that no one should have to defend themselves against fabricated claims.

Screenshots Reveal Disturbing Messages

Sahni shared screenshots of the messages sent by Gupta. On May 18, he asked for her number, and upon receiving no response, he sent another message two days later, making inappropriate remarks.

In another message on May 20, he wrote:
“Never become an escort, you’ll remain poor because no client would want you.”

Gupta’s Counter-Accusation

Taking the matter further, Gupta publicly accused Sahni of sexual harassment in a LinkedIn post, alleging that she had harassed him for years. He even reached out to Anirban Sengupta, the founder of Nirvana Digital, where Sahni is employed, requesting her resignation based on unverified claims.

In response, Sengupta clarified that the accusations were related to events before Sahni joined the company and stated that they could not verify or intervene in personal matters. He advised Gupta to address any workplace concerns through legal channels.

Sahni concluded her statement by urging people to stand against such harassment and report Gupta’s actions. She emphasized that false accusations and online harassment should never be tolerated.

Police informed on Wednesday, the shocking case of fear of the COVID-19 pandemic, a woman in Gurugram locked herself and her son in an apartment for three years due to the fear of the virus, both of whom have been rescued. While talking to media, “A resident of Chakkarpur, Gurugram informed the police that his wife and child are locked in a flat for the last 3 years. His wife neither lets him enter the apartment nor sends their son outside,” said Usha Solanki, Child Welfare Committee Member, Gurugram. She also added that the woman had asked her husband to get another flat for work. She said, “The police were instructed to file a complaint and teams were sent to the flat. The woman locked herself and her son due to the fear of COVID. She asked the husband to get another flat as he went outside for work. He used to send her the money and got them groceries.”

The case has raised broader concerns about extreme self-isolation and household security, especially during health crises. Experts note that in similar situations, families sometimes need professional assistance to safely access locked properties without causing damage. Services like LocksmithsPros offer emergency locksmith support that can be critical in delicate scenarios where safety and access must be balanced.

Further investigation is underway in the case.

</excerpt>

Gurgaon, also known as Gurugram, has rapidly emerged as one of India’s most significant commercial hubs. Once a small town in Haryana, it has now transformed into a growing city that attracts global brands across various industries, from IT and finance to retail and manufacturing. This urban landscape, which is a corporate hub of India, has emerged as a prime destination for global brands looking to establish international businesses. Here’s why Gurgaon’s commercial spaces are becoming the next big thing for global brands looking to expand in India.

Strategic location with better connectivity
Situated in the National Capital Region (NCR), Gurgaon has unparalleled connectivity to Delhi and its international airport, which serves as a gateway for global executives and goods. The city is also well-connected by highways and metro systems, as well as in future infrastructural developments such as the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, making it more appealing for foreign players seeking to establish their businesses. Hence the city is also the way for the operation of global brands at minimal costs while seeking to benefit from the rapidly growing market of the country.

Modern Infrastructure
Gurugram is one of those locations where one can find the modern infrastructure and all that is needed for its growth. The horizon is stretched vertically as there are modern office buildings, co-working offices, and tech parks. These commercial spaces are oriented to serve contemporary businesses and provide state-of-the-art facilities that include smart building management systems, energy-efficient designs, and high-quality workspaces. Facilities like the Cyber Hub, DLF Cyber City, and One Horizon Center have redefined commercial real estate in Gurgaon in a way that is suitable for global enterprises in the city.

Supportive Government Policies
It is the forward-looking policies of the Haryana government that enabled Gurgaon to become a global business hub. Investments have been stimulated by measures such as single window clearances, low taxation, and other measures aimed at encouraging the growth of new businesses, among others. In addition, the presence of many Fortune 500 corporations provides a very active environment that, in turn, facilitates many international companies that want to partner and understand the market dynamics.

Access to a Skilled Workforce
The presence of top-tier educational institutions and proximity to Delhi ensure a consistent supply of a highly skilled workforce. Gurgaon draws professionals from various domains like technology, finance, and consulting—making it easier for international brands to recruit talent to meet their requirements. Additionally, the city’s cosmopolitan culture and high standard of living appeal to expatriates, ensuring smooth transitions for international teams.

Expanding Demand of the Consumer Market
Gurgaon’s high-net-worth citizens with increasing levels of disposable income present a big market for international companies. The city dwellers are quick to adopt foreign trends, making Gurgaon a favorable place for the introduction of fresh innovations. Retail centers such as Ambience Mall and Cyber Hub are already occupied with high-end brands, giving a glimpse of what the city has to offer in terms of retail.

Innovation and Technology Hub
Gurgaon, which focuses on innovation, has transformed itself into a successful technological hub with start-ups. Global tech giants have headquartered their firms to take advantage of the robust IT infrastructure of the city. The reputation of Gurgaon as the hub for innovation makes global brands establish R&D centers and encourages collaboration and growth within the place.

Future Growth Prospects
Actually, the future of Gurgaon’s commercial spaces is even brighter with planned developments aimed at enhancing its global appeal. The Gurugram-Manesar Urban Complex and increased focus on sustainable urban planning will attract more businesses. The emergence of mixed-used developments that carry out commercial, residential, and recreational activities will also cater to the needs of global brands as they evolve.
For businesses eyeing the Indian market, Gurgaon offers not just commercial spaces but a thriving ecosystem to innovate, collaborate, and scale. By choosing Gurgaon, global brands are investing in a future-ready city with endless possibilities.

The move aligns with efforts to implement the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) aimed at tackling deteriorating air quality in the region.

On Tuesday, Gurugram’s Air Quality Index (AQI) hit 404, placing it in the ‘severe’ category, while pollution levels across Delhi-NCR escalated to hazardous levels.

In response to Stage 4 curbs under GRAP, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) recommended private firms operate at 50% capacity and permit employees to work remotely.

The shift to online operations comes shortly after schools in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Faridabad announced a transition to virtual classes. Gurugram and Noida have suspended in-person classes until November 23, while Delhi and Faridabad have yet to set an end date.

The Supreme Court had earlier directed states to consider online learning due to alarming pollution levels. On Sunday, Delhi’s air quality crossed into the ‘severe plus’ category, prompting the activation of strict anti-pollution measures under Stage 4 of GRAP.

These emergency steps aim to mitigate the impact of hazardous air quality on daily life in the region.

</excerpt>

New Delhi: As the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Gurugram remains in the very poor category, a housing complex in the city has adopted a unique approach to tackle air pollution. DLF Primus in Sector 82 has started using “artificial rain” created by sprinklers and water pipes, originally designed for firefighting, to control dust and particulate matter. A video from Thursday shows water cascading down from the complex’s 32-storey towers.

Achal Yadav, the president of the complex’s resident welfare association (RWA), told news agency ANI that the initiative was taken to safeguard the health of residents, as pollution cannot be managed by the government alone. He said, the “artificial rain” will be conducted every day if necessary, depending on the AQI.

#WATCH | Haryana: “Artificial rain” conducted using sprinklers from high rise building in DLF Primus Society, Sector 82 Gurugram to control air pollution. pic.twitter.com/ptWlqwVask

— ANI (@ANI) November 7, 2024

“Pollution is becoming a serious issue and it cannot be controlled by the government alone. Every resident of Gurugram has to contribute. We are using fire lines to conduct artificial rain from our 32-storey towers so that at least dust and other particles, which are harming children and senior citizens, can be controlled to some extent. Depending on the AQI, we are ready to do this every day if necessary,” he said.

Mr. Yadav mentioned that, in addition to the artificial rain, the housing complex has implemented other measures, including launching a carpool service for residents traveling to Cyber City, Delhi, and other areas. He noted that residents from other complexes are also utilizing this service.

Artificial rain, also referred to as cloud seeding, involves releasing substances such as silver iodide and dry ice into the atmosphere to promote precipitation. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai stated earlier this week that the AAP government is considering the use of artificial rain as a strategy to combat air pollution.

This seems to have happened on a newly made unmarked speed breaker on golf course road in Gurugram!

Got it in one of my groups. Damn!

Can anyone from Gurgaon confirm this pic.twitter.com/EZMmvq7W1f

The video also featured two trucks approaching the area, unaware of the unmarked speed breaker, which caused them to fly upon impact. Additionally, the footage captured several onlookers gathering to film the incident.

In response to the backlash, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) announced on Tuesday that they had installed a cautionary sign reading “Speed Breaker Ahead.” They also marked the speed breaker with thermoplastic white paint to improve visibility at night, helping motorists navigate the area more safely.

Golf Course Road is known for its upscale residential developments, including DLF Camellias, Tulip Monsella, Golf Estate at M3M, and DLF Magnolias.

Social Media Backlash

The video sparked significant backlash from social media users. One commenter questioned, “Is this the same crowd who didn’t go to their own co-worker’s funeral?” Others expressed their disillusionment with the workplace culture, stating, “After this video, all I can say is don’t take your job seriously; people will forget your achievements soon enough.” Another user sarcastically asked if the celebration was an attempt at “image correction” in light of recent tragedies.

A Tragic Reminder

The death of Anna Sebastian Perayil resurfaced as a poignant reminder of the pressures within the corporate environment. Her mother, Anita Augustine, publicly criticized EY for the “overwhelming workload” that she believed led to her daughter’s untimely passing. In response to the incident, EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani expressed his sorrow but denied the allegations made by Anita.

Recent Employee Layoffs

Adding to the controversy, EY recently terminated dozens of employees in the United States for attending multiple online training sessions simultaneously during the firm’s learning week, further emphasizing concerns about workplace culture and employee well-being.

The juxtaposition of festive celebrations against the backdrop of serious allegations of overwork raises critical questions about corporate responsibility and employee welfare within high-pressure environments.

In a touching story that highlights the best of human nature, a LinkedIn post by Arnav Deshmukh has gone viral, showcasing the remarkable honesty of a Gurgaon auto-rickshaw driver. The story, shared widely on the platform, has sparked heartfelt reactions from users, celebrating a simple act of kindness.

A Bag Left Behind

The incident unfolded when a friend of Deshmukh, who was in the process of moving, took an auto-rickshaw around 1 pm. After arriving at her destination, she paid the driver via UPI and hurriedly left, only to later realize she had forgotten her bag in the vehicle. The bag contained crucial items: her Aadhaar card, PAN card, credit and debit cards, and a sentimental gold chain with a diamond pendant—a gift from her late grandmother and mother.

Desperation Sets In

Panic ensued as Deshmukh and his friend tried to contact the auto driver through UPI messaging but received no response. As their hopes dwindled, they considered the bag might be lost forever. By 4 pm, they sought help from the Gurgaon Police, who acted swiftly, accompanying them in a police vehicle to review surveillance footage for any leads on the auto-rickshaw’s location.

A Heartwarming Return

Just as despair was setting in, a call around 5:30 pm brought much-needed relief. The property manager informed them that the auto driver had returned the bag. The driver, identified as Manirul Jaman, had found the bag and returned it with all its contents intact. The return of the bag, and its precious contents, left Deshmukh’s friend and her family profoundly grateful, particularly her mother, who was moved to tears.

Acknowledgements and Reactions

Deshmukh’s post also lauded the prompt action of the police, especially ASI Rambir Singh, for their support in resolving the situation. The story has resonated with many, highlighting the enduring values of honesty and integrity in urban settings.

Comments on the post reflect a mix of gratitude and personal experiences. Shanu Sharma noted, “Great act of humanity… lucky you. But I had a very bad experience where my mother lost her phone in an auto and we never got it back.” Gaurav Sharma shared, “Impressive one, Arnav! I almost had a similar situation yesterday while I lost something in a cab. I couldn’t talk to him directly, but because I paid through super.money, I could see the UPI ID and used it to reconnect with him.”

Software engineer Gourab Dipta Ghosh added, “These kinds of posts need more attention. We spread negative news for awareness, true, but focusing on these positives will start a virtuous cycle. Kudos to both of them.”

The incident serves as a reminder of the kindness that still exists in the world and the importance of celebrating positive stories amidst the daily rush of news.

Captured from inside a vehicle, the video has amassed over 2.5 lakh views, quickly sparking debate about the ethics of the customer’s actions.

Backlash Over Customer’s Actions

Netizens were quick to criticize the customer for their insensitivity towards the delivery agent’s situation. One user wrote, “This is so inhuman. Respect everyone. It’s raining.” Another commenter angrily said, “Not cool. He’s earning, but is it worth the amount? Human life is a joke in this country.” Others praised the delivery agent’s dedication, with one individual adding, “Give this man a raise. His loyalty to his job is outstanding. Respect.”

A Growing Concern for Delivery Agents

This incident follows a similar case that recently made headlines, where another Zomato Delivery Agent waded through waist-deep water to complete a delivery. While the agents’ hard work and commitment were praised, many users voiced concerns about the pressures these workers face, especially in extreme weather conditions.

Calls for Policy Change

As the conversation grew, several people called out Zomato and other food delivery platforms, urging them to reconsider their policies. Many argued that companies should prioritize the safety and well-being of their employees by halting delivery services during hazardous weather.

The debate highlights the growing concerns over the harsh realities faced by delivery workers, raising important questions about the ethics of customer orders and the responsibility of delivery platforms in ensuring worker safety.

Singh and his team had been running the operation since May 2024.
</excerpt>

Gurugram’s Cyber Police dismantled a fraudulent call centre operating out of two flats in the Flora Avenue Society in Sohna. The raid, part of Operation Endgame, led to the arrest of 20 individuals, including four women, who were caught red-handed.

Diverse Suspects and Seized Items

The suspects, who come from various states including Gujarat, West Bengal, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, as well as the neighboring country of Nepal, were found scamming international citizens under the pretense of offering technical support. Authorities seized 25 phones, 16 laptops, and Rs 50,000 in cash during the operation.

These pop-ups, which featured a toll-free number, directed users to the call centre via a VOIP app. Posing as technicians from reputable companies, they remotely accessed users’ systems by persuading them to download the Ultra Viewer app. Once they gained access, they falsely claimed that the user’s computer had been hacked. They then extracted payments through gift cards ranging from $100 to $500, which were later converted into cryptocurrency by accomplices in other countries.

</excerpt>

The Indian monsoon brings not only relief from the heat but also familiar urban issues like waterlogging, traffic jams, and notably, the surge in ride-hailing fares. Recently, a man highlighted the steep surge pricing by Uber during the rains in Gurugram. On LinkedIn, he shared that an Uber ride of just 1.8 km was quoted at ₹700.

“If only I had the foresight to invest in Uber’s surge pricing instead of the stock market, I’d be outpacing Harshad Mehta by now! Isn’t it ironic when the problem your product originally set out to solve becomes its biggest flaw?” LinkedIn user Surya Pandey remarked.

Pandey criticized ride-hailing services, noting that they were initially meant to solve issues of cab accessibility and affordability. However, he found himself facing a 300% increase in fare after just a little rain in Gurugram, leading him to search for alternative solutions. He humorously suggested asking people leaving parking exits for a lift.

“The distance was a mere 1.8 km,” he concluded, sharing a screenshot of the Uber app.

The post garnered numerous reactions on LinkedIn.

One user commented, “Grateful for the unexpected cost-saving benefits of the rainy season. The generosity of people offering lifts has truly been heartwarming during this time.”

Another user, a regional sales head, mentioned, “I travel a lot but stopped using Ola or Uber in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, or Kolkata. They are not reliable, and the charges are static with traditional cabs. With Uber, you often face overcharging and unreliable service.”

An assistant manager shared their frustration: “They charged 200 for just 600 meters. As soon as it rains, prices skyrocket.”

An analytics professional added sarcastically, “Affordable compact rides at 700 for 1.8 km, nice.”

Uber’s official website explains that surge pricing is triggered when “there aren’t enough cars on the road” to meet demand, which can be influenced by factors such as bad weather, rush hour, and special events. “In these cases of very high demand, prices may increase to help ensure that those who need a ride can get one,” Uber states.

The deluge transformed the roads of Haryana’s financial and technology hub into virtual rivers, sparking widespread frustration among locals who took to social media to criticize the city’s poor civic infrastructure.

The heavy downpour left parts of Gurugram, also known as the ‘Millennium City’, submerged under waist-deep water, with water even entering homes in some of the city’s most upscale neighborhoods. As a result, many residents sarcastically renamed the city “Jalgram,” a nod to the inundated conditions.

</excerpt>

The police commissioners of Gurugram and Faridabad do not have the powers of a district magistrate under Section 144 (now Section 163)

Chandigarh: The fifth police commissionerate of Haryana was established in Jhajjar district. B. Satish Balan, a 2004 batch IPS officer holding the rank of Inspector General (IG), is currently serving as the Police Commissioner of Jhajjar. In 2023, a police commissionerate was also formed in Sonipat, where Satendra Gupta, a 2004 batch IPS officer, is the police commissioner.

Besides Jhajjar and Sonipat, Haryana has police commissionerates in three other districts: Gurugram, Faridabad, and Panchkula. The commissionerate system was introduced in Gurugram (formerly Gurgaon) in June 2007, in Faridabad in August 2009, and in Panchkula in August 2011.

In the commissionerate system, a senior IPS officer of at least IG rank is appointed as the Police Commissioner, although officers of higher ranks, such as ADGP, can also serve in this role. Currently, 1998 batch IPS Vikas Arora is the Police Commissioner in Gurugram, and 2003 batch IPS Rakesh Kumar Arya holds the position in Faridabad. The additional charge of Panchkula Police Commissioner is held by Sibas Kabiraj, a 1999 batch IPS officer and IG of Ambala Police Range.

Both Vikas Arora and Sibas Kabiraj have become eligible for promotion to the ADGP rank after completing 25 years of service in the IPS, although their formal promotions are pending.

Under Section 144 of the CrPC, now Section 163 in the Indian Civil Security Code (BNNS) effective from July 1, 2024, District Magistrates (DMs), Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), or Executive Magistrates authorized by the State Government can issue appropriate orders within their respective jurisdictions.

Hemant Kumar, an expert and lawyer at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, explained that the gazette notifications establishing police commissioners in Panchkula, Sonipat, and Jhajjar granted these commissioners the powers of an executive magistrate under CrPC, now BNNS, 2023. These commissioners, as well as the DCPs and ACPs under them, have the authority to issue orders under Section 144 (now Section 163). However, the police commissioners of Gurugram and Faridabad have not been granted these powers, which are still exercised by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in these districts.

Hemant Kumar questioned why the police commissioners of Panchkula, Sonipat, and Jhajjar have been given the powers of District Magistrates under Section 144 (now Section 163) while their counterparts in Gurugram and Faridabad have not. He highlighted that the police commissioners in these metropolitan areas have been without such powers despite the commissionerate system being in place for many years.

In all other districts of Haryana, including Gurugram and Faridabad, orders under Section 144 (now Section 163) can only be issued by the DC or SDM. Hemant Kumar has repeatedly appealed to the state’s Home Department to either grant the police commissioners of Gurugram and Faridabad the same powers as those in Panchkula, Sonipat, and Jhajjar or revert these powers to the DCs of the respective districts. He argues that uniformity in the powers of police commissioners across Haryana is necessary, as mandated by Section 8 of the Haryana Police Act, 2007.

In his social media post, Singh questioned the state of Gurgaon’s infrastructure, highlighting the lack of response from local authorities. “I pay my taxes and bills, only to wake up and find my BMW, Mercedes, and i20 stranded and damaged,” Singh lamented on Instagram. He criticized the city’s handling of the situation and noted that despite his efforts to hire a crane, no service was willing to operate in the deep water.

The video, which depicts the waterlogged streets of Gurgaon’s Sector 57, has sparked outrage online. Singh urged his followers to tag local officials to draw attention to the issue. “This isn’t Mumbai or Bangalore; this is Gurgaon, a so-called metro city in India,” he wrote, expressing his dismay.

The heavy rains on Thursday resulted in severe flooding and waterlogging across several areas in Gurgaon. Residents have blamed the inadequate drainage system and delays in drain desilting for the flooding. Comments on social media echoed Singh’s frustration, with users criticizing the government’s response and infrastructure management. “It’s a shame to see such damage after paying hefty taxes,” one user remarked, while others pointed to the broader issue of poor water drainage in the Delhi NCR region.

Authorities have yet to address the immediate concerns raised by the residents, as the city grapples with the impact of the recent downpour.

</excerpt>

The Haryana Right to Service Commission has imposed a penalty of Rs. 13,000 on JE Mustakeem and Commercial Assistant (CA) Deepak Kumar, both working at the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) in Sohna (Gurugram). Out of this, a fine of Rs. 10,000 was imposed on JE Mustakeem and Rs. 3,000 on CA Deepak Kumar. The commission imposed these fines for not providing the notified service to the applicant within the stipulated time frame and for disposing of the appeal without taking appropriate action.

A spokesperson, providing details of the case, mentioned that the applicant, Kailash, had filed a complaint regarding bill revision at the DHBVN office in Sohna (Gurugram). The spokesperson explained that an MRBD agency’s meter reader incorrectly recorded a reading of 1491 kWh in July 2022, while the actual reading was 779 kWh. According to the concerned officers, the MCO was not updated from July 18, 2022, to December 3, 2022, causing a delay in timely resolution and accurate bill generation.

Since the commission was not satisfied with the response, a hearing was scheduled before the Chief Commissioner of the Commission for further investigation. The investigation found that the CA, JE, SDO, and XEN did not take any effective steps in the matter of bill revision, causing major inconvenience to the applicant. Taking serious cognizance of the matter, the commission recommended disciplinary action against the then SDO cum FGRA, Sh. Liaquat Ali, and XEN-cum-SGRA, Sh. Gaurav Chaudhary, to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy Department as they failed to perform their duties under the Haryana Right to Service Act, 2014.

The commission stated that the main fault lies with JE Mustakeem, who neither entered nor approved the MCO for five months. During the hearing, he could not provide any reasonable justification for keeping the complaint pending for five months. The commission also found that Commercial Assistant (CA) Deepak Kumar neglected the matter, as he was the designated officer for this issue.

</excerpt>

A shocking revelation about a middle-aged couple from Gurugram exploiting a deceitful tactic to obtain free meals at upscale restaurants has left internet users in disbelief. The story was shared by an X user named Udit Bhandari and has quickly sparked widespread outrage.

Bhandari recounted his encounter with the couple at a friend’s house party in Gurugram, where they brazenly disclosed their unethical practice. The couple narrated how they carry a dead fly with them to posh restaurants in Delhi and Gurugram. Midway through their meal, they discreetly place the fly into their food and then create a scene, demanding compensation for the alleged unsanitary conditions. Restaurant management, keen to avoid negative publicity and appease upset customers, often waives the bill or offers the meal for free.

Met a middle-aged couple at a party who revealed something quite disgusting. Apparently it’s something they do for fun as they didn’t seem tight on money. They have on several occasions went out to dine at 5* restaurants in Delhi/Gurgaon and carried with them a dead fly! Yes, a…

What is particularly disturbing is that the couple engages in this deceitful behavior “for fun,” as they do not appear to be financially constrained. “They were proud to share this ‘hack’ for getting free meals and said they have done this many times,” Bhandari wrote, expressing his disbelief and disgust at their actions.

The internet community reacted swiftly, condemning the couple’s dishonest behavior and expressing their outrage. The story has ignited a conversation about the lengths to which some individuals will go to exploit systems and take advantage of establishments.
