His visit follows key development projects and comes ahead of Delhi elections.
Google Maps relies on AI and real-time data from satellites, GPS, and cameras to create accurate routes. AI-powered features, like Gemini, help refine search results and provide real-time updates for users.
</excerpt>

Google Maps has become an essential tool for navigation, helping users move from one place to another with ease. But have you ever wondered how Google Maps works and how it knows all the possible routes? The answer lies in its sophisticated data collection and real-time analysis, aided by artificial intelligence (AI).

To create accurate maps, Google collects a wealth of data from various sources, including satellite imagery, traffic cameras, GPS data from smartphones, and more. This data is then fed into advanced real-time data analysis tools to provide users with up-to-date, reliable information on routes and destinations.

Data Sources Behind Google Maps

Google’s mapping system relies on a multitude of data sources. Satellite imagery gives a bird’s eye view of locations, while traffic cameras provide real-time updates on traffic conditions. Additionally, smartphones equipped with GPS transmit location data, helping Google refine its mapping accuracy.

In a recent blog post, Google revealed that its Maps system uses a large language model (LLM) to process information from over 250 million places and more than 300 million local guides. This technology allows the platform to provide highly accurate search results tailored to users’ specific needs. In the near future, Google Maps will integrate photos, reviews, and ratings into search results to offer even more detailed insights.

AI Features Transforming Google Maps and Google Earth

AI has been a game-changer for Google Maps and Google Earth, enabling them to deliver real-time information and ensure maps are continuously updated. By incorporating AI features, developers can instantly update maps with the most accurate information.

In October, Google introduced an exciting new feature by linking Maps with its generative AI chatbot, Gemini. Gemini enhances the search experience by helping users find places that match detailed specifications, such as “dog-friendly sports bars with TVs and outdoor dining.”

This AI-powered integration allows users to easily access thousands of reviews in one place and share real-time updates about road conditions, such as bad roads or areas prone to flooding. Additionally, Google Maps now provides immersive weather updates along your route, offering a comprehensive navigation experience like never before.

The Future of Google Maps and AI

As AI continues to evolve, it is becoming more intuitive, helping users navigate not just streets, but experiences and services that meet their unique needs. The collaboration of satellite technology, AI, and real-time data ensures that it remains an essential tool for millions of users across the globe.

The images sparked speculation about a cry for help or human trafficking. The wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, have caused significant destruction and loss of life.
</excerpt>

One such area is a neighborhood in Los Angeles near a shipping port, after Google satellite images showed the words help and traffico written on wildfire debris. Along with that, words such as LAPD and Federal are seen, which caused wild guesses on social media.

Mysterious Message Raises Alarm

The photos, taken around North Mission Road in Los Angeles, set off many speculations. Some think that maybe it’s some kids’ prank. Others are guessing it might be an actual message from someone in distress from the wildfires. A user on X posted pictures of Google Maps with an ominous possibility: “This disturbing message was viewed on Google Maps in Los Angeles, California; it says ‘Help’ and ‘Traffico’ on the debris close to shipping containers.”. It has been confirmed that the lot next to this location is a shipping yard, which has led users to fear that this is connected to human trafficking or worse.”

Los Angeles Wildfire Aftermath

Wildfires have devastated the area, among them the Palisades and Eaton fires that began January 7 amidst strong gusts. These wildfires have leveled parts of the neighborhood. The Palisades Fire is the biggest wildfire that consumed thousands of houses and claimed at least 11 lives while standing at 90% containment as of Sunday. The other, the Eaton Fire in Altadena, had already claimed 16 lives but stood at 98% containment.

The Hughes Fire, which started north of Los Angeles, has led to evacuation orders for more than 50,000 people. By Sunday evening, it had been contained to 95%. In San Diego County, the Border 2 Fire, the smaller of the two blazes, is being battled; good progress was reported in corralling its spread through the Otay Mountain Wilderness along the US-Mexico border.

Official Response Expected

The authorities have not commented on the Google satellite images, and the cryptic messages remain unexplained. For now, the combination of wildfire devastation and mysterious signals has left residents and social media users questioning the true story behind the chilling discovery.

</excerpt>

Indian entrepreneur Kuldeep Dhankar, founder of Last9.io, recounted a frightening experience when his car was rear-ended on the I-5 highway in the US Dhankar shared the ordeal on X, praising the swift actions of his Apple Watch and local authorities.

“Got rear-ended in standstill traffic on the I-5. The car behind is likely a total loss, but we’re safe,” he wrote. Dhankar credited Apple Watch’s crash detection feature for automatically contacting 911, ensuring police arrived within minutes. The California Highway Patrol’s quick response enabled Dhankar and his companions to resume their journey within half an hour.

In stark contrast, a tragic accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district claimed three lives. Following GPS directions, the victims’ car drove onto an under-construction bridge and plunged 50 feet into the Ramganga River. The victims, identified as Amit, Vivek, and an unknown third individual, were traveling from Gurugram to Bareilly for a wedding when the accident occurred.

Local residents discovered the wreckage the next morning, but all three passengers were already dead. Authorities confirmed the vehicle was likely a hired taxi and have sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations.

While Dhankar’s experience underscores the life-saving potential of modern tech, the Bareilly tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the risks of blindly following navigation systems.

</excerpt>

A tragic accident claimed the lives of three men when their car drove off an under-construction bridge in Uttar Pradesh, reportedly while following Google Maps directions. Authorities have registered an FIR against four engineers and an official from Google Maps, as confirmed by district officials.

According to a PTI report, the FIR names two assistant engineers and two junior engineers from the Public Works Department (PWD), along with unidentified individuals. The local Google Maps representative is under investigation, though their name is not yet included in the FIR.

Budaun district magistrate Nidhi Srivastava stated, “Apart from corrective measures at the site, FIR under section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the BNS has been registered against 2 Assistant Engineers and 2 Junior Engineers of PWD and unknown persons.”

Details Of The Accident

The victims, brothers Nitin and Ajit, both 30, and Amit, 40, were traveling from Noida to Faridpur, Bareilly, to attend a wedding. According to police in Budaun, Google Maps led the driver to the unfinished bridge, which lacked barriers or warning signs despite being partially collapsed from earlier flood damage.

The car fell into the Ramganga River from the incomplete bridge in the Dataganj Police Station area early Sunday morning.

Following the incident, district magistrate Srivastava directed the PWD and Setu Nigam to conduct inspections of all roads and bridges in the region to prevent similar tragedies.

Google’s Response

A spokesperson for Google expressed condolences and confirmed their cooperation in the ongoing investigation.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to the families. We’re working closely with the authorities and providing our support to investigate the issue,” the spokesperson stated.

How Did The Bridge Collapse?

Faridpur Circle Officer Ashutosh Shivam clarified that floods earlier in the year had caused the front portion of the bridge to collapse into the river. Unfortunately, this critical change was not updated in the navigation system, contributing to the accident.

This incident underscores the importance of timely updates in navigation systems and proper safety measures at construction sites.

</excerpt>

A Bengaluru man attempted to create a GPS drawing of a Diya for Diwali, but his artwork was mistakenly interpreted as a toilet on social media. Thilak Reddy ran 5 km in a closed loop between Indiranagar and Kodihalli, only to face ridicule on the platform X.

Reddy, originally from Hyderabad, works as a senior development engineer at Setu API and is an enthusiastic endurance runner. Although he often runs 5k around Bengaluru, he had never tried making GPS art before. On Diwali, he decided to run in a manner that the digital route would resemble the shape of a Diya, an earthen lamp. After completing the 34-minute run, he shared a picture online and asked followers to “rate it.”

Happy Deepawali ? people, tried making a diya over a run, please rate it 🙂 pic.twitter.com/CDAlyW1sz4

Many users who commented on Reddy’s post admitted to initially mistaking his Diya design for a toilet. Even after realizing it was intended to resemble a lamp, some continued to insist that it looked like anything but. One comment stated, “It’s actually a commode though. A disproportionate one, but still a commode.” Another user remarked, “There are many ch***** in Bangalore. Made a sandaas (toilet) in place of diya.” This last remark was criticized for being excessively harsh, while others praised Reddy for his creative effort.

Some users pointed out that Reddy’s drawing resembled the logo of Docker software, to which he replied, “It does look like docker, might make one sometime with all the containers on top.” He later explained that the route lacked enough curvy streets to accurately depict the Diya’s flame.

Bengaluru is known as one of Asia’s least walkable cities, with pedestrians frequently complaining about broken footpaths and obstructions from parked cars and street vendors. Nevertheless, this does not deter runners like Reddy, who previously completed a 10k run in Hyderabad.

This event, celebrated as Dussehra, marks the start of a 21-day period leading up to Diwali when the people of Ayodhya welcomed their king back after 14 years of exile.

How Did Google Maps Become Involved?

A post on X (formerly Twitter) has gone viral, featuring a screenshot from Google Maps. The post claims that walking from Sri Lanka to Ayodhya would take approximately 21 days, aligning with the timeline between these two major festivals.

The viral post reads, “They told me that it took Shree Ram ji 21 days to walk from Sri Lanka to Ayodhya. I then checked it in Google maps and I was just shocked to see it does take 21 days to get back.”

I then checked it in Google maps and I was just shocked to see it does take 21 days to get back.

So Shree Ram ji did exist and he knew the… pic.twitter.com/d2uedGp2d6

Is Google Maps Accurate in Showing 21 Days?

Upon checking the route ourselves, Google Maps actually displays 542 hours, which is over 22.5 days. The path involves multiple interruptions, such as ferry rides and crossing country borders.

Can the Journey Be Completed in 21 Days Today?

The short answer is: No, unless you have a Pushpak Viman! The viral tweet has stirred a mix of fascination and skepticism among users. While some are intrigued by the claim, others argue it’s an oversimplification of a mythological story.

Critics note that geographical and environmental changes over time make it challenging to use current mapping tools to replicate ancient routes. As seen in the screenshot, the path also involves several stops and challenges. Furthermore, walking over 3,100 km non-stop would be impossible without facing serious health risks.

The Pushpak Viman Theory

According to legends, Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman traveled to Ayodhya on the Pushpak Viman, a flying chariot created by Vishwakarma for Brahma. If this vehicle was used, the journey would have been much shorter than 21 days. Some believe that Diwali is celebrated when Lord Rama reached Ayodhya, so certain stops before arriving might align with the 21-day timeline.

Debating the Timeline

The viral post and the discussions that followed highlight an interesting conversation among devotees exploring the intersection of faith, mythology, and technology. This debate serves as a means to understand ancient stories rather than challenge anyone’s beliefs or the joy of celebrating Diwali.

Seth installed the statue in August 2022 at his residence in Edison, approximately 35 kilometers south of Manhattan, New York.

“Our home has become one of the most popular tourist attractions, thanks to the Amitabh Bachchan statue. Recognized by Google Search, this site attracts a growing number of visitors each day,” Seth told PTI on Sunday.

Over the past two years, fans of Bachchan have been visiting the site, taking photos and selfies, many of which are shared on social media platforms like Instagram and X.

“Fans of Mr. Bachchan from around the world travel to see the statue, with 20 to 25 cars of families arriving daily. Visitors often leave greeting cards and letters, expressing their admiration for the legendary actor,” Seth said, sharing some videos of fans at the statue.

Seth noted that the statue’s popularity extends beyond physical visits. “Enthusiastic fans post videos, photos, and tweets about their experiences, flooding social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. These posts have garnered significant attention, further boosting the site’s fame and making it a trending destination online,” he said.

“Our home stands as a testament to Mr. Bachchan’s global appeal, and we are honored to welcome fans from every corner of the globe,” he added.

Bengaluru’s notorious traffic jams often lead to hours of lost productivity. The city’s rise as India’s IT hub has brought an influx of professionals, but its infrastructure struggles to keep up. Rapid urbanization, inadequate planning, and limited public transport contribute to the city’s traffic woes.

On X, user Ayush Singh shared a Google Maps screenshot showing the time required to walk versus drive from Brigade Metropolis to KR Puram Railway Station, a distance of about 6 km. According to the screenshot, driving takes 44 minutes, while walking is slightly faster at 42 minutes.

“This happens only in Bangalore,” Singh noted with the screenshot.

While many resonated with the frustrations of Bengaluru’s traffic, some pointed out that similar issues are common in other major cities.

“Same story across many metro cities in the world,” commented one user.

“Mumbai and Delhi also have the same situation during peak,” said another X user, Abhilash.

One individual dubbed Bengaluru the “Traffic Capital of India,” while others suggested using public transport to bypass the congestion.

In response to the traffic dilemma, Bengaluru-based CEO Paras Chopra proposed a solution inspired by Beijing. In this system, commuters stuck in traffic can call for a ‘rescue’ for $60, where a motorbike rider will pick up the stranded commuter, and another will drive their car to its destination.

In a harrowing incident highlighting the perils of blind reliance on Google Maps, two men from Kerala narrowly escaped a potentially fatal situation after their car was swept away by a swollen river. Abdul Rasheed and his companion were en route to a hospital in Karnataka’s neighboring district when their journey took a terrifying turn.

Following the directions provided by Google Maps, the men found themselves on a narrow, dimly lit road. Unbeknownst to them, the route led straight into a river crossing with a bridge lacking sidewalls. As they approached, their vehicle was suddenly engulfed by the powerful currents of the overflowing river.

Miraculously, the car wedged itself against a tree along the riverbank, preventing it from being completely submerged. Quick to react, Abdul Rasheed contacted local Fire Force personnel, providing them with their exact location amidst the chaos.

Responding swiftly, the Fire Force team arrived equipped with ropes, embarking on a challenging rescue operation. Despite the fierce current, their expertise and determination prevailed, successfully pulling Abdul and his companion to safety.

Reflecting on their ordeal, Abdul Rasheed expressed profound gratitude for their miraculous rescue, emphasizing that they felt as though they had been granted a second chance at life. This incident underscores the unpredictable nature of natural phenomena and the critical importance of exercising caution, especially when relying on modern navigation technologies.

This incident in Kasaragod echoes a similar recent event in Kottayam, where tourists narrowly escaped a similar fate after their vehicle submerged in a swollen stream. Both incidents serve as stark reminders of the necessity to remain vigilant and prioritize safety in unfamiliar terrain.

As Abdul Rasheed and his companion recover from their harrowing experience, their story stands as a testament to human resilience and the invaluable assistance provided by emergency responders in times of crisis.

The footage of Fire Force personnel rescuing them from the flooded Pallanchi River recently gained widespread attention on social media platforms today. They escaped and contacted the Fire Force personnel because their vehicle, swept away by water currents, got stuck in a tree.

The rescued men, including Abdul Rasheed, were using Google Maps to navigate to a hospital in neighboring Karnataka early the other day when they followed a narrow road with their car.

“Using the vehicle’s headlight, we felt that there was some water in front of us. But, we didn’t see that there was a river on both sides and a bridge in the middle. There was also no sidewall for the bridge,” he told a TV channel.

The car started drifting in water currents, then became lodged in a tree on the riverbank. They quickly exited and contacted the Fire Force, who arrived promptly and rescued them using ropes.

“We never thought that we could come back to life. We truly feel that it is a rebirth,” Rasheed added.

Despite their vehicle being fully submerged, all four individuals safely escaped thanks to the swift response of a nearby police patrol unit and local residents.

Ironically, it’s images also got viral on the social media on Tuesday. As per New York Post report, this submarine cum underwater drone was seen at Port Hueneme naval base in California.

Furthermore, the submarine allegedly had slick design, thus it was similar to Manta Ray.

However, after its leak, Manta Ray was removed and, in its place, ordinary boats were installed.

About Manta Ray Weapon

Manta Ray is technically a submarine-which is also an underwater drone. This submarine was manufactured by a company called Northrop Grumman, as a part of US navy project, who wanted needed long-range undersea weapon.

As per NY report, this submarine possesses an ability to anchor itself underwater, even if it is operating in low-power mode.

Further, it also has the ability to sleep on the sea floor for ‘very long periods’, without any replenishment.

Its modular design also possesses the ability of disassembly and can be transferred in ordinary shipping containers. Thus, eliminating the use of port facilities.

So far, US Navy has conducted its trial for three months in southern California. According to defence experts, this submarine weapon was developed to counter Russian and Chinese submarine operations.

</excerpt>

A recent assertion by a UK-based expert has reignited intrigue surrounding the perplexing disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Aircraft MH370. On March 8, 2014, the aircraft vanished from radar screens during its journey from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members. Despite exhaustive search endeavors, the fate of the plane and its occupants remains an enigma, rendering it one of aviation’s most captivating mysteries.

Ian Wilson, the purported expert, claimed to have stumbled upon the missing aircraft deep within the Cambodian jungle using Google Maps. Wilson asserted that his discovery was made while scouring satellite imagery, where he purportedly identified remnants of the plane.

“I spent hours searching for places a plane could have gone down. And in the end, as you can see the place where the plane is. It is literally the greenest, darkest part you can see,” Wilson reportedly stated.

However, Wilson’s assertions lack official validation. Last year, Newsweek reported verifying the presence of a plane in images produced by Maxar Technologies for Google Earth. Notably, these images predate the disappearance of Aircraft MH370, dating back to January 1, 2004.

Amidst various theories and conjectures, including debris found on an Indian Ocean island, the true fate of the Aircraft MH370 remains elusive. Nevertheless, Ocean Infinity, a Texas-based company, has recently proposed a new search in the southern Indian Ocean, where the plane is believed to have gone down.

Ocean Infinity’s proposal, submitted to the Malaysian government, outlines a “no-cure, no-fee” approach, wherein payment is contingent upon the company’s success. This initiative underscores ongoing endeavors to unravel the Aircraft MH370 mystery and provide closure to the families of those aboard.

As speculation persists and fresh search initiatives are tabled, the world remains captivated, yearning for resolution to one of aviation’s most enduring enigmas.

The tourist groups from Hyderabad fell victim to one of those instances where technology, at times, can be unforgiving.

Recently, the four youths from Hyderabad made a visit to a beautiful hill station named Munnar, which is located in the state of Kerala.

While driving to the Alappuzha’s boat destination at 3 am on Saturday, this tourist group decided to use Google Maps for navigation.

Unfortunately, due to heavy rains, the road was overflowing with water coming from the pond, as a result, they weren’t able to differentiate between road and water.

Being new to the area, they mistakenly landed in the water body. However, due to their quick thinking and determination, they managed to successfully escape.

Recounting its experience, one of the tourists stated the following,

“We were taken aback and soon realized it was water all around. We knew we had to escape and did it by opening the back side of the vehicle.”

Later, they also managed to get back their vehicle.
