Her emotional journey of healing and strength has inspired millions on social media.
</excerpt>

Eldiara Doucette, a popular U.S.-based influencer known online as Bionic Barbie, has captivated her followers with her resilience and optimism in the face of a rare and challenging disease. Doucette, who was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, a rare cancer that affects about 1,000 people annually, recently shared an emotional chapter of her life on social media. After losing her arm to the disease, she held a funeral service for her amputated limb, a powerful act of closure that has since inspired millions.

Facing the Reality of Amputation

In late October 2024, the 22-year-old influencer was informed by doctors that the only way to save her life was to undergo an amputation above her elbow, due to a large, aggressive tumor at the center of her condition. While the decision was medically necessary, the amputation meant the loss of her dominant arm, a life-altering change. However, rather than focusing on the negative aspects of this change, Doucette took a unique approach to deal with her grief.

A Viral Funeral Service for Healing

What began as a joke turned into a deeply cathartic experience. Doucette decided to hold a funeral for her amputated arm, with the open-casket ceremony captured in videos and photos. These clips quickly went viral on TikTok and Instagram, garnering millions of views and sparking conversations about the emotional journey of losing a limb.

In a candid post, Doucette explained the significance of the ceremony: “In the video, you can kind of see me cycle through a few different emotions. There was definitely a pretty big shock factor to it. I got to sit there and really process everything I had lost within this arm and everything I wasn’t ever going to get back. It was a sad but necessary part of the healing process.”

A Cathartic Experience for Closure

The influencer further described how the idea for the funeral evolved from a light-hearted thought to a meaningful way to honor her arm. “Cancer has taken a lot from me and continues to, and it’s uniquely difficult to say goodbye to a limb like this. But this experience has helped me process the finality of the situation,” Doucette shared in an Instagram post. The service allowed her to move through her grief and accept the reality of her condition, providing her with much-needed closure.

Support and Inspiration from Fans

Doucette’s followers have been overwhelmingly supportive of her journey, with many praising her strength and the positive message she shares. One follower commented, “Such a beautiful way to honor a part of you who has served you so well!!” Another expressed, “This is so eloquently written. A beautiful story of tragedy and perseverance. I appreciate you sharing this with us also.” Many also suggested that such an experience could be healing for other amputees, with one user stating, “I feel like this should be an option for every amputee. It seems like a really healing experience.”

Documenting the Journey

Over the past few months, Doucette has been documenting her battle with synovial sarcoma on social media. From her diagnosis to her surgery, she has openly shared her experiences with her followers, offering a raw and real look at life with cancer. Her transparency has made her a beacon of hope and inspiration to others facing similar battles.

As Doucette continues her journey, her story serves as a testament to the power of resilience, the importance of closure, and the strength to find beauty in moments of tragedy

</excerpt>

In an unconventional move that has captured widespread attention, a funeral home in China has devised a unique method to hire its next mortuary manager. Instead of the traditional approach of interviews or CV screenings, candidates were asked to step into a morgue and spend ten minutes inside as part of their assessment. The task was specifically designed to gauge whether the candidate could handle the chilling environment of the morgue, which is a critical aspect of the role.

On-Site Test: 10 Minutes in the Freezing Morgue

The job announcement, posted by China’s Rushan Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security, called for potential applicants to visit the morgue for a ten-minute stint. This unique test aimed to simulate the challenging working conditions that candidates would face in the role. The morgue, known for its freezing temperatures, provided a stark but necessary environment to assess whether candidates could endure the demanding nature of the job.

Morgue Manager Role and Requirements

The position in question is that of a “morgue manager,” offering a monthly salary of 2,200 yuan (approximately Rs. 25,633). The job specifically targeted male candidates under the age of 45 with at least a junior secondary school education. Additionally, applicants had to pay a 70 yuan exam fee, which was required for participation in the hiring process. The role would be offered on a three-year contract, with the expectation that candidates could handle the emotional and physical demands of managing a morgue.

Why the Unusual Hiring Process?

The on-site test, coupled with the upfront exam fee, has raised questions and sparked debate among those familiar with the hiring process. However, it’s clear that the funeral home and its hiring bureau sought to ensure that only candidates truly suited for the job would be selected. The test in the morgue, though unconventional, serves as a stark reminder of the unique nature of the mortuary profession, where emotional resilience and physical endurance are essential traits for success.

This unusual hiring method in China has raised eyebrows across the globe, with many intrigued by the unique approach to selecting candidates for such a crucial role in the funeral industry.

The Reason Behind The Dance

“Dance saved me,” Gentilin explained to Corriere Del Veneto. “In my case, it was that dance that saved me. When I finished dancing in front of my grandson’s coffin, I clearly heard his voice in my head.
Before performing, Gentilin sought permission from his son and daughter-in-law, who both graciously agreed. “It was my idea, but first I asked my son and Kevin’s mother if they were okay with it. The speaker started pumping out music: first 883, then Brothers and finally a remix of DJ Matrix. In those moments I felt Kevin’s presence among us, and I felt that he wanted me to dance with him, so that we could have fun together once again,” he added.

The video, which went viral, attracted criticism from many on social media. Addressing the controversy, Gentilin apologized, saying, “What I didn’t know was that they would film the scene with their cell phones and that the video would end up on social media and in the newspapers. I apologise if I have offended anyone’s sensibilities, but believe me: that dance, a declaration of love, saved me.”

Gentilin shared the close bond he had with his grandson, revealing that they would talk every night about Kevin’s “projects and passions.” He fondly recalled their time together: “Every occasion was good for asking me to go with him and his friends to the disco. And under the DJ console, more than grandfather and grandson we seemed like two accomplices who had a lot of fun dancing together.”

The tragic incident occurred while Kevin was riding his Vespa to school. He was struck by a car, and Gentilin recalled the painful moments after the accident. “I got there a few minutes after the accident, he was lying on the ground and I sat down next to him. We stayed like that for at least half an hour. He was already dead and I remember that, while I was caressing him, I kept wondering why we couldn’t switch bodies,” he said, his voice filled with grief.

</excerpt>

A Brazilian family faced the heartbreaking loss of the same relative twice when their nine-month-old daughter, Kiara Crislayne de Moura dos Santos, was declared dead at a hospital, found alive during her funeral, and then pronounced dead again after returning to the health facility in Santa Catarina. The tragic events unfolded when Kiara was initially admitted to Faustino Riscarolli Hospital in Correia Pinto on October 19 due to a viral fever. Doctors confirmed her death after failing to detect a pulse or breath.

During the family’s funeral, a shocking turn of events occurred when Kiara was seen moving in her coffin, prompting her family to halt the ceremony and rush her back to the hospital that had mistakenly declared her dead. Upon her return, doctors measured Kiara’s oxygen saturation level, discovering it was at 84 percent, which necessitated immediate admission to critical care. Further assessments revealed no signs of muscle stiffening, which typically occurs six to eight hours after death.

Despite the initial hope, Kiara’s condition deteriorated. It wasn’t until an ECG was performed that she flatlined and was pronounced dead for the second time. “We were devastated already. Then there came a little bit of hope, but then this ended up happening,” recalled Cristiano, Kiara’s father.

The investigation into Kiara’s death has been handed over to the Scientific Police of Brazil, who are looking into the circumstances surrounding her passing. The hospital asserts that it has strict procedures for verifying patients’ conditions, stating that medical professionals are not authorized to issue death certificates without following these protocols. They also emphasized that their medical team is thoroughly trained and always operates under the guidance of senior doctors.

</excerpt>

In a shocking case of ‘toxic’ work culture, a 26-year-old employee of a multinational consulting firm “Ernst & Young” (EY) died in Pune due to “work stress” as described by her family.

Social media erupted in anger at death of a 24-year-old CA. Many users slammed the working culture turning “toxic” at many places. EY was at the receiving end of social media fury as nobody from the company allegedly did not attend the funeral. In a letter to Rajiv Mamani, head of EY India, her mother Anita Augustine said that Anna Sebastian Prile joined EY as a chartered accountant just four months.

Her mother said this was her daughter’s first job and she was happy and excited during the time of joining but after joining she had to work late at night and even on weekends. She also mentioned that “no one from her company attended her funeral”. A grieving mother has accused consulting firm Ernst & Young (EY) of promoting a culture of overwork after the death of her 26-year-old daughter

Anna Perayil. In a letter to the company’s India head, Augustine expressed that Anna, who was new to the organization, had been overwhelmed by the excessive workload and the pressure to meet unreasonable demands.

Social media users posted a letter from Anna’s mother to Mamani, asking Infoysys co-founder Narayana Murthy who in the recent past had advocated 70-hour work in a week.

Recounting an incident that reflected the strain on Anna, Augustine described how her daughter was once assigned a task by her assistant manager late at night, with a strict deadline the following morning. When Anna voiced her concerns, the response was dismissive: “You can work at night; that’s what we all do.” According to Augustine, Anna’s condition began to deteriorate under the increasing pressure. “Anna would return to her room utterly exhausted, sometimes collapsing on the bed without even changing her clothes,” Augustine said.

Despite her best efforts and hard work to meet deadlines, she was often bombarded with more messages demanding reports. Augustine mentioned that she and her family advised Anna to quit, but she insisted on staying to gain experience and exposure. However, the workload eventually became too much for her. In her email, Augustine accused EY of “glorifying overwork” and highlighted the stark difference between the company’s human rights statement and the reality of its work culture. “How can EY begin to truly live by the values it professes?” she questioned. Augustine described how Anna, being new to the “organization, location, and language,” was left feeling “overwhelmed by both assigned and unassigned tasks.”

She also noted that Anna, like many young professionals, lacked the experience and agency to set boundaries or push back against excessive demands. “She did not know how to say no. She was trying to prove herself in a new environment, and in doing so, she pushed herself beyond limits,” Augustine added. The grieving mother called on EY to reflect on its work culture, urging the company to take meaningful steps to prioritize the health and wellness of its employees.

“Her death should serve as a wake-up call for the company,” she said. Augustine further claimed that EY employees from the Pune office did not attend her daughter’s funeral. “This absence at such a critical moment, for an employee who gave her all to your organization until her last breath, is deeply hurtful,” she stated.

Augustine also mentioned that she received no response from her daughter’s managers after reaching out post-funeral, questioning how a company that claims to value human rights could fail to show support in such tragic circumstances. The exact cause of Anna’s death on July 20 remains unclear. However, in the weeks leading up to it, she had reportedly complained of “chest constriction.” Despite a normal ECG and reassurances from a cardiologist that she was simply experiencing stress due to a lack of sleep and poor eating habits, her condition ultimately worsened.

A recent report highlights the emotional impact of Prince Harry’s tribute at his late uncle’s funeral, which left many attendees deeply moved and surprised.

Despite earlier speculation that he might not attend, Prince Harry made the trip across the Atlantic to honor his late uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes. According to a source who spoke with PEOPLE, the memorial service was highly emotional, and Harry’s heartfelt tribute astonished those present.

One attendee remarked on Harry’s unexpected presence, noting, “Most people were astounded that Harry came. He was in remarkably good spirits and seemed very pleased to see everyone. He was glad he made the journey.”

The funeral took place on August 29, just two days before the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, adding to the significance of Harry’s visit. Although his brother, Prince William, was also there, the brothers reportedly did not interact, despite ongoing speculation about their relationship.

During the service at St. Mary’s Church in Snettisham, Norfolk, Prince Harry and Prince William sat with different groups of their maternal cousins. Reports indicate that Harry did not visit his father, King Charles, at Balmoral Castle, where the King is undergoing cancer treatment.

While the funeral did not lead to the expected family reunions, Harry spent meaningful time with his maternal relatives, including Fellowes’s widow, Lady Jane, Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer, and Lady Sarah McCorquodale.

Both princes have strong ties to their mother’s side of the family. Fellowes’ daughter Laura is a godmother to Princess Charlotte, and some Spencers had previously supported Harry at a service in May for his Invictus Games.

A royal insider commented on Harry’s attendance, stating, “It was lovely and appropriate that he came to pay his respects.” Another source suggested that, given recent health challenges within the royal family, Harry is seeking closer connections with his relatives, reflecting his deep bond with his mother’s side of the family.

</excerpt>

The funeral of nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar, who was tragically killed in a mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class, was held on Sunday in Southport. The white coffin was transported by horse-drawn carriage to St Patrick’s Catholic Church. As the carriage made its way, hundreds of mourners lined the streets, bowing their heads and applauding. The procession was led by a young girl carrying a blue teddy bear, with pink and white flowers and ribbons decorating the route.

The mourners walked solemnly behind the carriage, past pink ribbons and balloons tied to lampposts and garden walls. The procession was accompanied by 30 uniformed police officers and a large crowd of bystanders who clapped and released bubbles to show their support.

“Let her dance her way to heaven,” was the heartfelt wish of Sérgio and Alexandra as they came together to honor their “beloved angel,” who tragically lost her life in the mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class nearly two weeks ago.

Inside the church, hundreds of people attended the funeral, while others outside listened to the service being relayed on loudspeakers. Among those present was Merseyside police chief constable Serena Kennedy, who delivered a public appeal for calm on behalf of Alice’s family. Kennedy stated: “You have shown great courage in asking me to be here today … to give a message from you, Alice’s family, to say that you do not want there to be any more violence on the streets of the United Kingdom in the name of your daughter. I am ashamed, and I’m so sorry that you had to even consider this in the planning of the funeral of your beautiful daughter Alice.”

Father John Heneghan began the service with a musical tribute, playing the guitar alongside Alice’s own guitar. He described Alice as “a lovely little girl, full of life” with a “glorious smile” that could light up anyone’s heart. He remembered her for her “radiant happiness” and the joy she brought to her parents.

Alice’s parents, Sérgio and Alexandra, described their daughter as a “beloved angel” and “our perfect dream child.” They said she was “a good girl, with strong values and kind nature,” adding: “You moved our world with your confidence and empathy. Playful, energetic, friendly, and always so respectful. Being around you was a privilege, we cherished every milestone. You completed us.”

They expressed their “shocked, unimaginable pain” and noted the difficulty in moving forward: “When mommy says ‘good night, Sergio, good night Alice’ – and then it hits us all over again. We don’t hear you back.” Despite their grief, they promised to always support each other, saying, “We’ll always have each other to rely on. We won’t be alone. We are surrounded by a wonderful community and their full support.”

The couple concluded with a heartfelt message to their daughter: “Keep dancing. Mummy and daddy will always, always love you.”

The funeral was also attended by Jinnie Payne, headteacher at Churchtown Primary School, who praised Alice’s natural smile, good manners, and inquisitive nature. Dance teacher Heidi Liddle described Alice as “the most kind-hearted child” with “thick brown hair that danced as she walked.”

Alice was attending the dance class at Hart Space Studio when she was fatally stabbed, along with Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven. A new photo released by her family showed Alice smiling with a lifesize cardboard cut-out of Taylor Swift.

In an emotional interview with BBC Radio Merseyside, Father Heneghan reflected on Alice’s joyful nature and the profound impact of her loss on her family. A crowdfunding page set up by Alice’s mother’s employer, Benridge Care Homes and Good Companions, has raised nearly £45,000 to support the family.

The suspect, Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, 17, has been charged with three counts of murder and ten counts of attempted murder in connection with the stabbings. The eight other children injured in the attack have all been discharged from the hospital.

</excerpt>

During a eulogy for the late Democratic Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, Vice President Kamala Harris inadvertently referred to herself as “the president,” causing a notable stir among the attendees. The slip-up quickly became a focal point, with reactions from the crowd and the incident itself gaining widespread attention on social media.

On August 1, Kamala Harris delivered a tribute at a Houston church, where she was joined by prominent Democratic figures including Bill and Hillary Clinton. In her address, Harris highlighted Jackson Lee’s significant contributions, such as her efforts in establishing Juneteenth as a federal holiday, reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act, and advocating for LGBTQ rights.

“Then, as president — as vice president — it was my honor, with the president. With the president!”

AWKWARD: Kamala Harris “accidentally” blurts out she is the president while at the eulogy for Sheila Jackson Lee.

The crowd’s reaction is ridiculous. pic.twitter.com/tVAFUdqUTk

— Kyle Becker (@kylenabecker) August 2, 2024

Kamala Harris spoke warmly of Jackson Lee’s legacy, noting, “It was Sheila Jackson Lee whose bill made Juneteenth a federal holiday.” She recounted moments spent alongside Lee and President Biden during the signing of the landmark legislation. However, in the midst of her speech, Harris accidentally referred to herself as “presi—” before catching the mistake and correcting herself.

“To clarify, as vice president, it was my honor – with the president! With the president!” she corrected, prompting cheers and applause from the audience. She continued, “It was my honor – it was my honor, with our president Joe Biden to stand beside Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee as our president signed her bill into law.”

The video of the incident quickly went viral, sparking a range of reactions online. Some critics accused Democratic members of politicizing the funeral, while others speculated whether the slip might have been deliberate. Supporters, however, seized on the moment, with some social media users playfully referring to Harris as the president.

Comments on social media varied widely: “Why is she turning a funeral into a rally? That’s just wrong!!!” one user wrote. Another commented, “Yes, she is the president.” Some questioned if the slip was intentional, with one user suggesting, “Not an accident – Biden is gone and even he calls Kamala President. She was installed by Obama.”

Sheila Jackson Lee, who passed away from pancreatic cancer on July 19 at the age of 74, was remembered for her nearly three decades of service since her first term in 1995. As President Biden prepares to step down to run for re-election in 2024, Harris is poised to succeed him, with the White House affirming that Biden will complete his current term before the election.

Last Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully. She was 96 years old.

“In the 70 years of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, India-UK ties have evolved, flourished and strengthened immensely.
Shinzo Abe’s official funeral will take place on September 27, according to the Japanese government, local media reported on Friday.

According to the Kyodo news agency, the event will take place in the Nippon Budokan venue in Tokyo’s Kitanomaru National Garden.

Notably, former prime minister Shigeru Yoshida’s state funeral in 1967 marked the last time the nation held a state funeral for a national leader. On July 8, while giving a campaign speech in the Japanese city of Nara, Abe was shot. Tetsuya Yamagami, 41, came up behind the lawmaker and fired two rounds from approximately ten metres away (33 feet).

According to reports, the attacker spent close to a year planning the 67-year-old former head of state’s murder.

According to Hidetada Fukushima, the director of emergency services at Nara Medical University Hospital, Abe had two gunshot wounds to the front of his neck, and the bullet that killed him had also caused damage to his heart and a major artery, which resulted in blood loss.

Dr. Fukushima claimed in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that Abe experienced cardiac arrest at the scene of the attack and lost vital signs while being transported.

After failing to halt the bleeding, doctors tried a blood transfusion, according to Dr. Fukushima. Shinzo Abe was shot while giving a campaign address in western Japan, and he arrived at the hospital without any vital signs.

Abe, the longest-serving prime minister in Japan, resigned in 2020 for health reasons.

Fumio Kishida, Japan’s Prime Minister, said, “This is not a forgivable act, and that authorities would take appropriate measures to handle the situation.”

Kishida added that the reason for Abe’s shooting is unknown. The media outlet cited official sources when it said that the shooting suspect in the death of Abe was formerly a member of the Japan Self-Defense Forces.
