Farhan has already begun filming for 120 Bahadur, which he describes as a story of exceptional bravery, heroism, and selflessness exhibited by soldiers. On Wednesday, he announced his return to acting on Instagram, revealing that he will play Major Shaitan Singh PVC. The film will depict the Battle of Rezang La, which occurred on November 18, 1962, during the Indo-China war.

As Farhan Akhtar moves forward with the Don franchise over a decade after the release of the second installment, he shared an intriguing story about casting Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role for the first film, which premiered in 2006. During his appearance on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Farhan recounted how he initially committed to offering the part to Hrithik Roshan.

Farhan On His Promise To Hrithik

Farhan mentioned, “Hrithik and I did Lakshya, and we had an incredible, wonderful time working together. So I reached out to Hrithik and said, ‘I’m thinking I’m going to remake Don.’ He said, ‘Sounds amazing, dude!’ I said, ‘Let me write it and I’ll bring it to you.’ So he said, ‘Cool.’” However, as Farhan began writing, Shah Rukh Khan started to come to mind as the perfect fit for the role. “When I was writing, the only person whose face is popping into my head is Shah Rukh, from what I knew him. We’d spent some time together, hanging out at a party here or a party there, with some common friends in Delhi. So the way he was, not his cinematic image, but him, his personality, his wit, the little sarcastic sense of humour he has, self-deprecating, he can make fun of himself. When I was writing, I thought this guy is the best actor for this part,” Farhan recalled.

On Shifting Gears To Shah Rukh Khan

“But I’d already given my word to Hrithik,” Farhan continued. “So I called up Hrithik and told him, ‘I’m writing the film I spoke to you about. But the more I’m writing, I’m feeling I should reach out to Shah Rukh for this film. I’ll never forget, he said, ‘Farhan, you’ve to make your film, and in the best way possible. If you think he’s the guy, please go ahead and call him. Don’t worry about me.’ That is a very gracious thing.”

Interestingly, Hrithik made a cameo appearance in Don 2 (2011) as one of the disguises of Shah Rukh’s character. After Don, Hrithik and Farhan acted together in Farhan’s sister Zoya Akhtar’s films Luck By Chance (2009) and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011). With Shah Rukh stepping down from the Don role, Ranveer Singh is set to take on the iconic character in the upcoming Don 3.

In the meantime, Shah Rukh is set to play a don in Sujoy Ghosh’s King, while Hrithik is currently filming for Ayan Mukerji’s spy thriller War 2.

Bollywood siblings Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar exercised their right to vote early on Monday morning during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. They were joined by their mother, Honey Irani, and were seen patiently waiting in line at their assigned polling station in Mumbai, as captured by ANI. The elections for six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai—Mumbai North, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South, and Mumbai South Central—are part of Phase 5. Other constituencies in Maharashtra participating in this phase include Dhule, Dindori, Nashik, Kalyan, Palghar, Bhiwandi, and Thane.

Maharashtra has a total of 48 Lok Sabha seats, the second-highest after Uttar Pradesh. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are being conducted in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, with results to be announced on June 4. Voting on this day began at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm, with those in line at closing time still allowed to vote. According to the ECI, over 8.95 crore voters, including 4.69 crore men, 4.26 crore women, and 5409 third-gender electors, will decide the fate of 695 candidates in this phase.

Among the 49 Lok Sabha seats in this phase, 14 are in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Maharashtra, 7 in West Bengal, 5 in Bihar, 3 in Jharkhand, 5 in Odisha, and one each in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. To ensure a peaceful election process, 2,000 flying squads, 2105 static surveillance teams, 881 video surveillance teams, and 502 video viewing teams are monitoring the 94,732 polling stations around the clock.

Farhan has stated that Kiara Advani would join the cast of Don 3 opposite Ranveer Singh.
The movie’s director made the announcement on Instagram.

Bollywood ace filmmaker Farhan Akhtar recently shared when he will begin directing Ranveer Singh starrer Don 3, and Jee Le Zaraa, which was announced in 2021 with Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.

The filmmaker told Khaleej Times, “So, my focus is currently on Don 3, and Jee Le Zaraa will be picked up post that. I’m also doing two films next year before we get into Don 3, as an actor. In January, I will start a film which is being produced by Aamir Khan Productions. It’s being directed by RS Prasanna, who directed Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. He’s a great director. Then I will do another film for Excel Entertainment, which will start roughly in June or July. And then I get into directing Don 3.”

Now, in a recent conversation with BBC Asian Network, the filmmaker spoke about casting Ranveer as the new Don. He said, “I’m just really looking forward to get it going. I mean Ranveer is amazing. He’s great for the part. He’s also as you can imagine, really excited and really nervous, about the thing you’re filling some big shoes before you. But we went through the same emotional process when Shah Rukh did it and everyone was like ‘Oh my God, how can you replace Mr. Bachchan?.’ That whole thing happened then.”

Talking about how Ranveer Singh would be perfect for the role, the filmmaker added, “It really is about an actor coming in and owning the part and making it really like, giving it their style and their flair. And he has that, he has that in spades. So, he’s going to do a great job. Helmed by Zoya Akhta, the film was released in the year 2011 and received massive responses from the fans and it continues to be one of the most loved films even today.

3. Farhan Akhtar – ‘Dilon mein apni betaabiyan’

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag Turns 10: Here’s How Farhan Akhtar Celebrated The Film’s Anniversary

Actor Farhan Akhtar’s biopic drama film ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ clocked 10 years on Wednesday.

To mark the occasion, Farhan took to Instagram and shared a poster of the film and wrote, “It’s been 10 years since the release of a film that has meant a lot in my career and in my life. The fact that it also holds a dear place in your hearts is the cherry on top.Your love gave justification to the effort and sacrifices. Thank you from the bottom of my heart again.. and to Rakeysh for making me a part of celebrating the legendary Milkhaji #10YearsOfBMB #10yearsofbhaagmilkhabhaag.”

‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ is a 2013 Indian biographical sports drama film directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra from a script written by Prasoon Joshi. The story is based on the life of legendary Indian Sprinter Milkha Singh, who was a Commonwealth Champion and x2 400m Asian champion, and an Olympian.

The movie that stars Farhan Akhtar in the titular role, was declared ‘super hit’ at the box office and is the sixth highest-grossing 2013 Bollywood film worldwide. It bagged two National Film Awards in the categories- ‘Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment’ and for ‘Best Choreography’. ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ accumulated major accolades under its belt at Film Fare Awards, IIFA, and more.

Director Mehra also shared a post on Instagram and wrote, “An inspirational tale of the legendary Milkhaji.. a film that continues to motivate the world after 10 years. Celebrating #10YearsOfBMB.”

Actor Sonam Kapoor was also a part of the film.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Farhan will be getting back to the director’s chair after almost 11 years with a female-oriented road trip film ‘Jee Le Zara’ which will feature Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. He announced the film in 2021.

The film promises to be another tale of friendship following the lineage of ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’.

Priyanka Chopra Still Part Of Jee Le Zaraa?

Farhan Akhtar’s directorial Jee Le Zaraa is getting all attention after reports claim that the gorgeous Citadel star Priyanka Chopra has opted out. The film has been in the news after reports started coming in that she is no more part of this women-centric film. And now a fresh report is coming in that PeeCee continues to be a part of the film and has never left the project.

Zoom Entertainment quoted a friend of Farhan saying, “Anushka has not even been approached for Jee Le Zara. Why should she be? When Priyanka has not opted out. This is some marketing team’s brainwave. The truth is, Anushka wants to devote optimum time to her daughter. After Zero in 2018, she has signed only one film, Chakda Express. Then someone gets up, decides she will be part of Jee Le Zara, and then decides she won’t be part of it. Nothing of this sort happened.”

For the unversed, Farhan will be returning to direction with Jee Le Zaraa. It also stars Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. The motion poster of Jee Le Zaraa has left the fans excited. Fans were stoked to see another road-trip film like Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara but with a women-centric cast.

Priyanka Chopra Exits Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa?

After reports of Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa being shelved, a new rumour making the rounds claim that the gorgeous Citadel star Priyanka Chopra has walked out of the film. According to Moviefied Bollywood’s Twitter handle, the actress has walked out of the film, and Kiara Advani is being considered for the role now. There has been no official confirmation on the same.

Earlier, a source close to the entertainment portal Bollywood Hungama shared: “Priyanka Chopra was not able to commit the dates to shoot in 2023 due to her Hollywood commitments and asked Farhan if they could shoot for Jee Le Zaraa in 2024. While Farhan was fine with it, Alia Bhatt is already committed to shooting for Ramayana and Baiju Bawra in 2024. Given that the two films are going to be taxing, she couldn’t align her date for next year. When nothing fell in place, Farhan decided to delay the film until the right time.”

For those unaware, Jee Le Zaraa was announced a few years back as the stellar cast shared a picture confirming the trio. Soon after the announcement, fans have been waiting for updates in the film’s production process.

Well, we can only wait for an official announcement about the film now as there are various reports about the same. Katrina Kaif’s pregnancy rumours are also expected to bring another dent to the film’s schedule.

Shah Rukh Khan exits Don 3?

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has decided to leave Don 3.

A source told Pinkvilla, “Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani have had multiple detailed discussions with Shah Rukh Khan on Don 3. Before the pandemic, a couple of ideas were also discussed, which took shape of a script through the pandemic. Meetings have happened recently too, but Shah Rukh Khan is not too keen to get back as Don again at this point of time. He is willing to do commercial films that cater to universal section of audience, and Don certainly doesn’t fit the bracket of cinema that he is willing to do for the coming few years. He has conveyed his decision to the stakeholders at Excel.”

The report further added that in order to turn the reboot film of the franchise a bigger outing, the makers, including Akhtar, had come up with an idea to bring three generations of Don together- Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and a gen-next star to portray the generational shift of Don. However, SRK wasn’t on board with the idea.

The source added, “The talks at the moment are on with a hero who has done two films with Excel in the last decade. He is keen to step into the shoes of Don, but has his reservations too, as the legacy of the franchise and the actors who portrayed Don before can’t be replicated by anyone. Don will be rebooted once one of the younger actors takes up the challenge.”
