Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ opened in theatres on May 31 much to the delight of fans. The sports drama has garnered attention with its moving trailer and soulful songs. This helped it take a decent start at the box office, going by the initial estimates.

According to Ramesh Bala, a trade tracker, ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ will collect between Rs 2 crore and Rs 3 crore (nett) at the domestic box office on its first day.

“They are selling tickets at Rs 99 a piece on Friday (May 31) so even if they sell two to three lakh tickets, the collection will be on the lower side. The sales may get a boost but not the actual collection. So, I am expecting it to do between Rs 2 crore and Rs 3 crore on the first day,”he told The Daily Guardian.

If this is the case, the film will open in the same range as Rajkummar’s previous release Srikanth. The biographical drama netted Rs 2.41 crore at the box office on the first day.

‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ hit screens alongside ‘SAVI’. The Abhinay Deo-helmed thriller has piqued the curiosity of fans with its riveting trailer. Ramesh Bala, however, feels the two films will not affect each other at the box office.

“Both movies will attract their own audience. Savi and Mr and Mrs Mahi are both small to medium-budget films and will not be in competition with each other. The audiences are different. Mr and Mrs Mahi is meant for Rajkummar fans,” said the tracker.

‘SAVI’ is a thriller, directed by Abhinay Deo of Delhi Belly fame. The film centres on a housewife who comes plans a daring jailbreak to rescue her husband. The film features Divya Khossla and Anil Kapoor in the lead. Mukesh Bhatt and Bhushan Kumar have produced the film.

Coming back to ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’, it is a sports drama that centres on the relationship between a failed cricketer and his wife. It features Rajkummar Rao as Mahendra and Janhvi Kapoor as Mahima. The film is directed by Sharan Sharma.

‘Parasite’ actor Lee Sun-kyun dies at 48

‘Parasite’ actor Lee Sun-Kyun has died at the age of 48 on the morning of Wednesday, Variety reported citing the Associated Press and the South Korean news agency Yonhap. He was a South Korean actor who was best known for his role in the 2020 Oscar Best Picture winner ‘Parasite.’ According to the Associated Press, the actor was found dead in his car in the Central Seoul park. Reportedly, the police was locating Lee after his family informed the officials that Lee left the house with a suicide note early Wednesday.

Lee had been in he spotlight for being a subject of an investigation for potential illegal-substance use. The authorities were investigating the actor along with seven other people. Lee claimed that he have been a victim of the blackmail and had lost hundreds of thousand dollars to the extortionist.

The police questioned Lee regarding alleged use of marijuana among other drugs earlier this year at the residence of an hostess of a high-end bar in Seoul, according to Yonhap. The interrogation took place thrice until last Saturday to which the actor stated that he had been duped and had no idea what he was ingesting.

Actor Charlie Sheen was attacked in his Malibu home, and police officials have arrested and charged the suspect with assault and burglary.

Entertainment outlet TMZ quoted officers saying that “Charlie’s neighbor, a 47-year-old woman, forced her way into his home and attacked him when he opened the door after hearing a knock. We’re told she ripped Charlie’s shirt and attempted to strangle him and then went back to her own house.”

TMZ reported that the actor was seen by paramedics but not taken to a hospital. Reportedly, this was not the first incident. Officers stated, “We’re told Charlie doesn’t understand what prompted the incident but this apparently isn’t his first issue with her. He told deputies he believes the same woman squirted some type of sticky liquid on his car recently.”

A source closely related to Charlie Sheen also told the TMZ that he spoke to the lady after the car incident and the conversation was on the road on ‘let bygones be bygones.’ It has also come to light that the woman threw trash outside Charlie’s house a day before the attack. Charlie is the one who called 911. The woman was eventually arrested at her home and booked for assault with a deadly weapon and burglary for allegedly forcing her way into the home and attacking him, as per TMZ report.

People suggests that ‘Bookie’ allows Sheen to work again with the same series creator who famously fired him from ‘Two and a Half Men’ in 2011 for his erratic behavior after which Sheen called Lorre ‘a clown’ and ‘a turd’ during the interview.

“Look, for a while, there wasn’t much about my life to complain about,” Sheen told People. “I lived a life where people were really happy when I showed up, and they were sad when I left.”

He then talked about how his demons or his “paralysis” as he calls the struggle with drugs and alcohol changed everything. “That went away when everything turned to s–t,” he said. “It turned into, ‘Oh, God. Here he comes,’ and then ‘Is he gone? Good.'”

Actors Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji along with director Karan Johar on Sunday night surprised the fans as they visited a theatre during the screening of their 1998 romantic drama film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ in Mumbai.

The makers of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ re-released the film to celebrate 25 years of SRK-Kajol-Rani starrer.

Several pictures and videos from their visit went viral on social media in which the trio could be seen interacting with the audience.

During the interaction, Rani thanked director Karan Johar for making this film and said “because of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ I am a star today.”

Actor Disha Patani has completed seven years in Bollywood.

Her debut film ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ turned 7 today.

Recalling working on the movie, Disha said, “Seven years have passed since ‘MS Dhoni,’ and I feel extremely grateful for everyone who has supported me on this journey. I would like to thank everyone for the love I’ve received for my portrayal of Priyanka, and I appreciate all of you who have never stopped showering me with immense love, especially my butterflies!! And, as they say, ‘firsts are always special’, this film will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Helmed by Neeraj Pandey, ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ biopic is on one of the most celebrated cricketers in our country, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The film was released in 2016 and saw the late Sushant Singh Rajput essaying the role of Dhoni. It also starred Kiara Advani.

Disha, with her girl-next-door appeal and million-dollar smile, instantly became the talk of the town. Her chemistry with Sushant was widely appreciated.

The biopic turned out to be one of the biggest hits of Sushant’s career, who went on to receive several nominations in the Best Actor category at that year’s awards ceremonies for his performance in the film.

Sushant breathed his last on June 14, 2020. He was found dead in his Mumbai apartment.

Recently, the actor took to X to facilitate an interactive ‘AskSRK’ session with his fans.

During the interaction, one of the users asked SRK, “@iamsrk What about fake collection numbers of Jawaan? So many news that produces are spreading fake collection numbers.”

Trevor Noah Cancels Bengaluru Show At Last Minute

The much-awaited show by comedian Trevor Noah on Wednesday night in Bengaluru was cancelled leaving his fans disappointed.

Noah was to perform at the Manpho Convention Centre in the city on Wednesday and Thursday as part of his ‘Off the Record’ tour. The organisers have now cancelled both of Noah’s shows in Bengaluru scheduled for September 27 and 28. However, as the shows have been cancelled, Noah has apologised to his fans who came all the way to watch it.

He took to X and wrote, “Dear Bengalaru India, I was so looking forward to performing in your amazing city but due to technical issues we’ve been forced to cancel both shows.”

Citing the reason for the cancellation of the show Noah said, “We tried everything but because the audience can’t hear the comedians on stage there’s literally no way to do a show. We’ll make sure all ticket holders receive a full refund and again I’m so sorry for both the inconvenience and disappointment this has never happened to us before.”

Trevor Noah is in India for his live Stand-up Comedy shows in the country. He performed at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Delhi-NCR on September 22, 23 and 24 and will be performing finally at the NSCI Dome, Mumbai on September 30 and October 1.

As per a statement, Noah’s ‘Off The Record’ Tour is touring Asia, with its first pit stop in India, followed by Dubai.

“After a lifetime of loving India’s culture, I’m so excited to finally have the privilege of bringing my current stand-up comedy tour to one of the most exciting countries in the world!” Noah had said announcing the Tour of India.

Noah has often expressed his love for Indian audiences. In 2022, while bidding adieu to ‘The Daily Show’, he recalled how the show has been loved across different countries including India. “What a journey it’s been… The show has grown around the world. I recently went to India for the first time and people there supported everything that we have done on the show. I found myself filled with gratitude for the journey. It’s been absolutely amazing. It’s something that I never expected,” he had said.

The Archies, inspired by the beloved American comics of the same name, is ready to premiere on OTT soon. In a recent interview with Vogue, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar discussed the challenges she faced while working with newcomers on the Archies. She shared, “The challenge was that they were completely raw. So, you have to do a complete boot camp. You have to prep them for various reasons. One is, you want your characters to be who you want them to be, you want to co-create something with the actor. You want them to be comfortable when they hit the scene because it’s overwhelming to have 200 people on a set, you have a camera in your face and you have to perform when everyone keeps quiet and you have to perform when the word action is said, it’s daunting.”

Coming to Netflix on December 7, the film explores friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak, and rebellion through the lives of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel, and Dilton. The story is set in the fictional town of Riverdale, nestled in the hills.

For the unversed, the Archies marks the debut of Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Boney Kapoor’s daughter Kushi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda. I remember shooting ‘Tayyab Ali’ during the days, then peeling off my mustache while I walked across the street to shoot night scenes for Gori.” The actor called the summer of 2013 ‘most grueling’ as he juggled to finish Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara.
