Indians can now gain permanent residency under the nomination-based model by paying AED 1,00,000 (roughly Rs. 23.30 lakh), a huge change from the previous requirement of a minimum AED 2 million (or rs. 4.66 crore) real estate investment or share in businesses.

This new, cheaper pathway has generated excitement among Indians looking to build a life in the UAE. On Twitter, a user smartly pointed out that an Indian could either buy a high-end car costing Rs. 1 crore in India or spend the same amount to obtain a Golden Visa for Dubai and purchase the same car there.

Mercedes E-Class: India vs Dubai Prices

X user Abhinav Kukreja juxtaposed the cost of owning a Mercedes E-Class in the two nations. In India, the cheapest model begins at Rs. 81.50 lakh (ex-showroom), while on-road prices in Delhi are around Rs. 95 lakh, according to Carwale.

Meanwhile, in Dubai, the identical Mercedes E-Class comes with a price tag of AED 321,900, which is roughly Rs. 75 lakh. Kukreja pointed out that with Rs. 1 crore, one could either drive away in an E-Class here, or alternatively, spend Rs. 23 lakh on a Golden Visa, then buy the same car in Dubai for Rs. 75 lakh essentially getting both the car and residency within the same budget.

Lording over a spacious mansion on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, with ceilings that shine with 24-karat gold and a bespoke pink Mercedes G-Wagon for her daughter, Anita Surani leads a life of splendor by anyone’s standards. Instead of settling into complacency, however, she took up the mantle of entrepreneurship and ambition. “I’m very rich. I could have spent all the money on shopping. I didn’t. And I just kept going,” she said in an interview with Gulf News.

In spite of the money she has in common with her husband, Surani created her own niche in the corporate world. She came to the U.S. from a middle-class family background and met her future husband, Moiz Khoja, when both were taking on several jobs simultaneously to get by—she was working at a jewellery store and he swept restaurant floors.

We were business partners, friends, and then a couple,” Surani explained of how their common grind allowed something more than a relationship to emerge. They founded a retail technology company that started with a single phone booth in a mall and expanded into a chain of more than 100 stores.

While her husband was building their technology empire, Surani went back to her roots as a designer in academics. She started playing around with real estate projects before finally joining a seasoned colleague to officially start her own interior design business in Dubai.

The start was not smooth. The interior design market in Dubai was crowded and stiff, and she had to begin small. She began with office spaces and apartments and over time built up to bigger projects such as villas and restaurants. Her firm—Xena Interiors—now has a team of more than 40 professionals comprising engineers, architects, graphic designers, and interior designers.

Back of her determination is a personal stake: her daughter. “I wanted to prove to my daughter that we can do everything. That we can get whatever we want. That’s why I dedicated the company to her — Zena,” she explained.

Though her lifestyle is at odds with it, Surani claims her firm operates on its own financial grounds. Her spouse made one thing explicit from the very beginning: She would be responsible for paying back any money invested in the business and covering employees’ wages herself. That responsibility became a strong impetus.

“I like money, and I earn it,” she said. “It’s pleasing when you’re earning the fortune you are making by yourself.”

A brokerage house based in Dubai, Gulf First Commercial Brokers, has suddenly shut down its operations leaving in its wake a financial ruin of Indian investors. The company, which had earlier been based in suites 302 and 305 at Capital Golden Tower, Business Bay, has disappeared from the scene—its office now as empty as can be except for a bucket, a mop, and a refuse bag.

Dubai Offices Empty, No Answers

Just weeks earlier, Gulf First had about 40 staff who cold-called prospective clients to sell forex trading schemes. Now, both offices lie empty, with dust-filled floors and torn-out telephone lines. A security officer in the tower said, “They handed back the keys, pulled everything out and left as if they were rushing. Now there are people coming every day to enquire about them.”

Indian Investors Heartbroken

The unexpected vanishing act has left investors, particularly from India, in tears. Brothers Mohammad and Fayaz Poyyl from Kerala had invested $75,000 in the company and are finding it hard to get even simple data back. “I came here seeking answers, but there’s nothing, no one. Just empty offices. We called every number, but no one replied,” Fayaz said. “It’s as if they never existed.”

He explained that the company enticed him to deposit more money in the course of time. “My relationship manager encouraged me to deposit $1,000 initially. With time, I was coerced into depositing more funds, enticed by the fantasy of smooth dealing and prompt profits,” he said.

Another investor, who lost a whopping $230,000, explained that the company tricked trust by first permitting small withdrawals. “The platform made small gains in the beginning, and I even took out some cash just enough to get me to trust it. Then the pressure began. They froze withdrawals and incentivized riskier trades while requiring more deposits,” he mentioned.

Dubious Trading Platform and False Promises

A number of victims in fact now think that Gulf First was routing client funds into an unregulated platform, Sigma-One Capital. Sanjiv, another Indian investor, told them, “They promised safe returns,” as he described how the firm aggressively sold Sigma-One.

Mohammad, who lost $50,000, explained the two names: Gulf First and Sigma-One were utilized interchangeably, confusing clients. The authorities later established that Sigma-One Capital was not licensed by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) or the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA).

A young man from Uttarakhand, who was supposedly enticed to Dubai with a job opportunity, has been rescued at last and returned to his family. On returning home, he revealed that he had constantly been harassed by his Pakistani roommates, who even refused to give him drinking water.

The incident was brought into the limelight after the Udham Singh Nagar Police posted a picture on X (formerly Twitter), featuring the man at home with a relative. The victim, police officials said, had been desperately asking to return to India as he claimed he was repeatedly harassed by his roommates.

“Thanks to SSP Manikant Mishra’s timely intervention, the youth stuck in Dubai returned, and the family thanked the SSP. He had gone to Dubai after being cheated by the agent. He was continuously requesting to return. The man was continuously being teased by Pakistani youths for not having given him water,” a translated post from Uttarakhand Police on X read.

Revealed as Vishal, the individual was allegedly dispatched to Dubai by agent Sameer, according to a report conducted by News9. However, upon arrival in Dubai, his conditions in life took a turn for the worse. Pakistani housemates started taunting him and making jokes about the tense India-Pakistan relations, specifically invoking the Indus Waters Treaty.

As per the report, the roommates had apparently informed him, “If India has blocked water from coming into Pakistan, we will not allow you to have water either.” Such prolonged ill-treatment had an adverse effect on Vishal’s health and caused dehydration along with an urgent craving to go back home.

Following news of his plight, Vishal’s family approached local authorities for assistance. SSP Manikant Mishra quickly took action, applying the details Vishal had provided to trace the employment agency behind the scam. Officials traced Vishal in Dubai and arranged for him to return.

On 15th May, once safely back, Vishal and family visited SSP Mishra at the Rudrapur Police Office to thank him personally for the quick response. Vishal explained how his own physical well-being had been affected by the abuse he suffered, particularly being withheld water by his Pakistani roommates—a deed they rationalized by referencing India’s water policy against Pakistan.

Grateful for the support, Vishal’s family expressed relief over his return and acknowledged the timely efforts of SSP Mishra and the Uttarakhand Police in ensuring his safety.

Pakistani Attacker Kills Two Telangana Workers in Dubai Bakery

Two Telangana workers from India lost their lives in a horrific sword attack at a Dubai bakery on April 11. The second casualty was Srinivas from Nizamabad district.

Ashtapu Premsagar leaves behind a wife and two children. His family, not knowing of his death in the first place, now faces emotional trauma as well as financial strain. Poshetty called upon the Indian government to repatriate the body of Premsagar and grant compensation to the grieving family. Sagar’s wife, Bhavani, confirmed her husband is receiving treatment.

This six-month initiative aims to offer a fast, convenient, and affordable transportation option, with plans for expansion to other locations based on the program’s success.

“Ibn Battuta Centre in Dubai and Al Wahda Centre in Abu Dhabi were selected after a thorough analysis of potential routes for the shared taxi service between the two emirates. This initiative aims to reduce travel costs, particularly for frequent commuters between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Furthermore, both locations are well-connected to public transportation hubs and parking facilities,” explained Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at the Public Transport Agency of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority.

Dubai Press Club Announces Arab Media Summit

Under the guidance of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, and President of the Dubai Press Club, unveiled the Arab Media Summit. This initiative will serve as a unified platform for key media events organized by the Dubai Press Club, fostering knowledge exchange and dialogue within the media industry.

The Arab Media Summit will encompass significant events such as the 22nd Arab Media Forum, scheduled for May 28-29, and the second Arab Youth Media Forum on May 27. These events, along with the 23rd Arab Media Award and the fourth Arab Social Media Influencers Award, aim to facilitate discourse and recognize excellence in the media landscape.

During a press conference at the Dubai Press Club, Mona Ghanem Al Marri emphasized the Summit’s role in facilitating idea exchange and expertise sharing within the media industry. She highlighted the importance of addressing challenges and transformations in the sector, ensuring its alignment with sustainable development goals.

The 22nd Arab Media Forum, chaired by Mona Ghanem Al Marri, revealed its agenda during the press conference. It will serve as a premier platform for discussing the evolving media landscape in the Arab world, featuring prominent politicians, industry leaders, and influencers from the UAE and beyond.

Key sessions at the forum will cover a range of topics including political, economic, social, technological, and cultural developments impacting the media sector. Special attention will be given to analyzing the sector’s role amidst regional and global changes.

Additionally, the Arab Youth Media Forum will focus on empowering the next generation of media professionals and influencers. Notable speakers such as Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Dr. Sultan AlNeyadi will engage in discussions centered around youth aspirations.

The Arab Media Award, a leading program recognizing media excellence, will continue to evolve under the Summit’s umbrella. Efforts will be made to include more young talent in the Board of Directors, reflecting a commitment to advancing the industry.

With over 110 sessions and workshops, as well as 40 side events, the Arab Media Summit expects to attract over 4,000 participants, including 200 from outside the UAE. The events will feature over 250 speakers and 200 prominent media figures.

Furthermore, the Summit will launch several initiatives aimed at serving Arab youth and promoting creativity in the media sector. These include specialized reports on new media trends and programs dedicated to nurturing creative talent.

The Arab Media Forum will also host sessions focusing on critical issues such as media coverage of the Palestinian cause and the impact of US elections on the region. The event will provide valuable insights for media professionals looking to navigate the industry’s evolving landscape.

In addition to honoring outstanding achievements in regional media, the Summit will recognize digital influencers and provide masterclasses to young professionals in collaboration with leading global digital platforms.

Tajik Internet Sensation Abdu Rozik Set to Marry Emirati Bride in UAE

Dubai-based Tajik internet sensation Abdu Rozik, who stands just over three feet tall, is preparing for a significant milestone in his life — tying the knot with an Emirati girl from Sharjah.

Expressing his excitement, Rozik stated, “I cannot imagine anything more precious than this love. I cannot wait to start my new journey in life.”

The wedding, scheduled for July 7 at an undisclosed location in the UAE, was confirmed by the International Fighting Championship Management (IFCM), Rozik’s management company. An IFCM spokesperson remarked, “Abdu Rozik is thrilled about it. We’re all delighted for him and wish the couple the best.”

Rozik, 20, will marry Amira, his 19-year-old Emirati bride-to-be, whom he met at Cipriani Dolci at Dubai Mall in February.

Although details of the celebrations remain confidential, IFCM revealed that it is a love marriage, with the couple recently getting engaged.

Hailing from the Bangkent region of Tajikistan and born into a family of gardeners, Rozik overcame childhood rickets to achieve success. Starting with meager earnings of less than Dh2 a day, singing at a local bazaar, he has since become a celebrated influencer.

Today, Rozik is a well-known figure in Tajikistan with over 8.2 million followers on Instagram. His popularity surged following news of his mixed martial arts (MMA) fight with rival Hasbulla Magomedov, and a video of their pre-fight press conference went viral. Rozik’s journey includes receiving the UAE Golden Visa and being crowned ‘Celebrity Influencer of the Year’.

Having collaborated with esteemed artists like Grammy winner AR Rahman and renowned songwriter-producer RedOne, known for hits with global pop icons, Rozik has firmly established himself in the international spotlight.

Rozik also appeared as a contestant on Bigg Boss, an Indian reality show franchise.

Earlier this year, he launched the Habibi restaurant, taking over the expansive former East 59th venue at Victoria Gate in Leeds.
