The Pakistani drone and missile assault targeted military areas in Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan, prompting blackouts and air raid sirens across border cities.
</excerpt>

India’s air defence establishments intercepted over 600 drones deployed by Pakistan overnight on May 8, from over 30 locations across several cities, official sources said.

The intercepts, carried out within a period of 48 hours, foiled two simultaneous waves of drones and missiles that were targeting strategic military areas in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

Urban centers in the Punjab and Rajasthan states both of which have long borders with Pakistan were put under high alert, as were zones in the Jammu and Kashmir state. Air raid sirens wailed throughout the night, and a complete blackout was enforced in border cities to avoid visibility during the possibility of threat.

(This is a developing story)

Multiple buildings were damaged and fires broke out. Russia claimed it intercepted 71 Ukrainian drones, mostly over the Kursk region.
</excerpt>

A drone strike by Russian forces on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro late Wednesday resulted in the deaths of three people, according to local officials.

Dnipropetrovsk region Governor Sergiy Lysak called the attack a ‘large-scale’ one. “Thirty were hurt, five of them children,” he stated on Telegram. A child and an elderly woman were among the dead, he added. He further reported that 16 remained hospitalized, with one in critical condition.

The attack destroyed some dozen residential buildings, Lysak confirmed.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said that the drone attacks caused a number of fires in Dnipro, all of which were extinguished.

Meanwhile, in a related move, Russia’s military said on Thursday it had over the night intercepted and shot down 71 Ukrainian drones, including 49 over the Kursk region.

Ukraine Launches New Drone with 2,000 Km Range and 250 Kg Payload

<excerpt>Ukraine has introduced a new 2,000 km-range UAV capable of carrying a 250-kg bomb. This reusable drone targets Russian industrial sites, enhancing long-range strikes. The move aims to disrupt Russian oil production and war efforts.
</excerpt>

The new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) revealed by Ukraine’s military has a 2,000 km range and a bomb payload of 250 kg. It may just turn out to be the most powerful reusable UAV in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The unmanned systems branch of the Ukrainian military officially confirmed on Friday the development of the drone, saying it was “a unique development that changes the rules of the game on the battlefield.”

For the past three years since the all-out invasion started, Ukraine engineers have been building drones that could fly farther and farther. It was indicated with recent strikes of Russian targets from over 1,610 kilometers away, as confirmed just a few days ago by Forbes to be a reusable bomber drone.

The new drone is able to drop a bomb and return to base, thus being able to execute multiple missions until it is either shot down, worn out, or crashes. This reusability may well significantly increase the frequency and scale of strikes on Russian targets, especially given recent attacks on bomber bases and oil facilities. These strikes have not only driven up the cost of Russian bombing campaigns against Ukrainian cities but also restrained Russia’s oil production, which has a significant bearing on the state revenue.

While the actual airframe for the long-range drone remains unknown, phot evidence suggests it may be a modified civilian sport plane. Ukrainian drone regiments have previously employed propeller-driven Aeroprakt A-22 sport planes, modified with remote controls and an underbelly bomb rack. However, those A-22s only flew one-way missions, crashing into targets like slow-moving cruise missiles.

Operating a drone is somewhat user-friendly via GPS and satellite radio, but landing is still difficult. Parasol parachutes are used for small drones, but runways are required by larger ones. Advanced militaries use high-tech landing systems, but it is not known whether these are included in Ukraine’s cheaper strike drones, which normally cost a few hundred thousand dollars each.

This is Ukraine’s wider campaign aiming at Russian refineries, oil depots, and industrial sites used to fuel Russia’s war effort. For example, one of Russia’s biggest refineries, the Volgograd refinery, as reported by Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Centre for Countering Disinformation, was attacked by a Ukrainian drone.

Earlier this week, Kyiv said it was responsible for a strike on a Lukoil refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region, east of Moscow. Last week, a Ukrainian drone attack also led to the shutdown of a refinery in Ryazan, southeast of Moscow.

In retaliation, a Russian drone attack on a residential block in Sumy, an eastern Ukraine city, killed nine people, including three elderly couples.

</excerpt>

A 16-year-old student from Gwalior, Medhansh Trivedi, has achieved a remarkable feat by developing a heavy-duty drone capable of carrying a human weighing up to 80 kg. Inspired by China’s air taxi technology, Trivedi, a Class 12 student at The Scindia School, has named the drone MLDT 01. After three months of dedicated work and an investment of Rs 3.5 lakh, the young innovator has made impressive strides in the field of drone technology.

Inspiration Behind the Innovation

The idea for the Human-Carrying Drone came when Trivedi was casually scrolling through YouTube and stumbled upon a video of China’s air taxi, a four-seater drone. The steep cost of the air taxi inspired Trivedi to design a similar drone on a more affordable budget. “I started researching how drones are built and decided to create my own,” Trivedi explained in an interview with News18. The result of his hard work is the MLDT 01, a drone designed with performance and practicality in mind.

Key Features of the MLDT 01 Drone

The MLDT 01 is an electric-powered drone that boasts a power output of 45 horsepower. It can carry up to 80 kg and maintain a flight speed of 60 km/h. With a flight duration of six minutes and a maximum altitude of 10 meters, this drone is currently restricted for safety purposes. The design of the drone features four motors commonly used in agricultural drones, enabling it to lift heavy loads.

Currently, Trivedi is working on a hybrid model to further improve the drone’s capabilities. This advanced version promises enhanced flight times and overall performance.

A Young Innovator’s Journey

Trivedi’s journey into Human-Carrying Drone development began with an interest in aerodynamics and technology, sparked by a classroom session conducted by his teacher, Manoj Mishra. “I gave a class on how airplanes are built, and that’s when Medhansh got interested in the process,” Mishra told News18. Motivated by this inspiration, Trivedi dove into online research and began constructing drones on his own. With continued guidance from his teachers, Trivedi further refined his drone-building skills.

This isn’t the first time Trivedi has ventured into building high-tech devices. He has previously built remote-controlled airplanes, cars, and even designed a suicide drone. With his talent and ambition, Trivedi aims to start his own tech venture after completing his studies.

Future Plans and Vision

Medhansh Trivedi’s remarkable achievement is only the beginning of his journey into the world of aerospace and technology. The young inventor plans to continue enhancing his drone technology and hopes to launch a business venture focused on advanced drone systems once he completes his schooling.

By tapping into his passion for technology and supported by the encouragement of his teachers, Trivedi has set a stellar example of innovation, showing that age is no barrier to making groundbreaking discoveries in science and technology.

</excerpt>

Hong Kong will host its first pyrotechnic drone show on December 28 to boost the panda-themed economy. The 10-minute show, with 1,000 drones, will take place at 8:15 p.m. in the West Kowloon Cultural District as part of the “Panda Go! Fest HK” exhibition.

Organized by AllRightsReserved, this drone show will prove to be the grand finale of the exhibition that has portrayed 2,500 pandas across various tourist locations. With these drones, panda- themed visuals will be seen, and it will clearly depict the uniqueness of the city of Hong Kong. According to AllRightsReserved, “This show will have 1,000 drones performing different panda images and creating designs with Hong Kong characteristics”.

The show will differ from all the previous drone performances by the use of pyrotechnics. The aerial performances will be equipped with fireworks that will illuminate the skies with seven different scenes, out of which three have been identified to use pyrotechnic effects-the waterfall and flashing lights included. The sequences will take up 20 to 50 seconds each. The show includes a special highlight-a 3D panda with characters drawn from “Panda Friends and Family Hong Kong”-the city’s six pandas’ inspiration.

It’s free to visit, though the organisers did say that they will let everyone know when the best vantage points and crowd management would be done.

The “Panda Go! Fest HK” exhibition has put up 2,500 panda sculptures since early last month around various major tourist spots including Avenue of Stars at Tsim Sha Tsui, Ngong Ping 360, and Ocean Park. On December 25 and 26, the last venue will be at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park in Sai Ying Pun. Throughout the exhibition, 1,000 panda sculptures and 10 special-edition figures were auctioned for HK$923,700 (US$118,800) to support conservation efforts at Ocean Park. The panda economy experienced a significant boost following the birth of twin panda cubs Ying Ying and Le Le in August. Another panda pair, An An and Ke Ke, also arrived in Hong Kong in September as a gift from Beijing.

This comes after a setback earlier in the year, when the planned National Day fireworks and drone display was partially canceled due to “ionospheric scintillation,” a phenomenon that disrupts GPS signals.

The highly anticipated event is likely to attract a huge crowd and will demonstrate Hong Kong’s innovative approach to entertainment as well as its commitment to conservation efforts.

Implementation of GRAP Stage III Restrictions

In response to the hazardous air quality, the Delhi government has imposed the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage III restrictions. This stage, which targets severe pollution levels, includes:

A ban on non-essential construction and demolition activities.

Closure of stone crushers.

A prohibition on the use of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles.

The GRAP also outlines additional measures in case the situation escalates to Stage IV, which includes stricter actions such as a ban on inter-state buses (except electric and CNG-powered vehicles), the suspension of mining activities, and a shift to online classes for schoolchildren.

A City Under Smog: Health Hazards and Urgent Measures

As Delhi battles its ongoing pollution crisis, residents face a multitude of health hazards. The toxic smog, compounded by vehicle emissions, crop-burning residue, and industrial pollutants, poses significant risks, especially for children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Citizens are urged to limit outdoor activities, wear masks, and avoid exposure to the toxic air wherever possible.

As the situation continues to worsen, the city government’s swift action through the GRAP framework aims to control the pollution levels, although further restrictions may be necessary if conditions deteriorate further.

With air quality reaching hazardous levels and the city implementing emergency measures, Delhi’s pollution crisis remains a critical issue. Citizens must take immediate precautions, while the government is under increasing pressure to address the root causes of pollution for the long-term health and safety of its residents.

The attack, captured in dramatic footage circulating on Telegram, showcases the destructive power of these weapons. The video, shared by the Khorne Group, reveals a drone dropping thermite—a mix of aluminum powder and iron oxide known for burning at extremely high temperatures. The molten metal from thermite bombs is capable of setting fire to trees, military vehicles, and fortifications, rendering them nearly useless.

Drone Footage Reveals Destruction

The 60th Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine shared footage of the attack, describing the drones as “wings of vengeance” that deliver fire with unmatched precision. The brigade emphasized the severe impact of their “Vidar” drones, asserting that they pose a significant threat to enemy positions. “Strike Drones are our wings of vengeance, bringing fire straight from the sky!
The Rise of Incendiary Weapons

Thermite bombs, which generate intense heat rather than explosive force, have been used in various conflicts over the years. In 2023, Russian forces reportedly deployed thermite bombs over Vuhledar, a town in eastern Ukraine. These weapons, known for their ability to cause severe burns, have a long history of use, dating back to World War I when both the Germans and Allies employed incendiary munitions. Notably, during World War II, the Luftwaffe used incendiary bombs extensively, causing significant damage to British cities.

The Dark Legacy of Napalm

The use of incendiary weapons extends beyond thermite. Napalm, a flammable mixture used extensively during the Vietnam War, has highlighted the devastating effects of such weapons on civilian populations. The horrific consequences of napalm attacks, such as those on Tokyo during World War II, underscore the severe humanitarian impact of incendiary weapons.

International Regulations on Incendiary Weapons

The international community has sought to regulate incendiary weapons to prevent unnecessary suffering and indiscriminate harm. The 1980 Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons includes Protocol III, which specifically addresses the use of incendiary weapons. This protocol aims to protect civilians by restricting the use of incendiary bombs, especially in populated areas and forests unless military objectives are concealed there.

As the conflict continues, the use of such destructive weapons raises urgent questions about the adherence to international regulations and the humanitarian implications of modern warfare.

Reports indicate that the drone was observed flying approximately 2.5 kilometers into Indian territory, prompting swift action from authorities to prevent any potential threats.

The incident unfolded around 9:30 PM when locals in the Treva area of the Arnia sector reported the movement of a drone. Subsequently, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF), swiftly mobilized to the scene and commenced searches in the vicinity. Notably, this region has long been identified as a traditional infiltration route for terrorists from Pakistan, adding significance to the ongoing operation.

Senior police officials, including DySP RS Pura Nikhil Gogna and SHO Arnia Rouf Ahmad Khan, were promptly deployed to oversee the search efforts. This development follows closely on the heels of another incident earlier in the day, where a Pakistani drone was repelled in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district, situated along the Line of Control (LoC).

Sources with knowledge of the matter have indicated that security agencies possess credible intelligence regarding Pakistan’s attempts to smuggle narcotics, weapons, and cash into Indian territory using drones. These nefarious activities are believed to be part of a broader strategy aimed at destabilizing the region, particularly in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha Polls scheduled to commence on the 19th of this month.

As the search operations continue, authorities remain vigilant and committed to safeguarding the integrity and security of the border region. Further updates on the situation are expected as the investigation progresses.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against a drone camera operator who was using it to capture Faruqui’s Bigg Boss 17 victory celebration as per a report published in Free Press Journal, said Hindustan Times.

A huge crowd was present in Dongri to celebrate his win. He had also bought his trophy as he stood on the sunroof of his car.

According to the same report, constable Nitin Shinde, who was patrolling with PSI Tausif Mulla, first spotted Munawar Faruqui’s fan, identified as Arbaaz Yusuf Khan (26). After confronting the drone operator, who lacked authorization to use the drone during the celebration in Dongri, Mumbai, the police reportedly reported the incident to the police station. Additionally, it is said that the cops seized the drone camera.

According to reports, a case has been filed for violating the Mumbai Police Commissioner’s directives, which prohibit using drones without authorization. Previously, with the public’s safety in mind, the police had banned flying objects, including drone cameras. The only exceptions are when police use drones for aerial surveillance purposes or when the deputy commissioner of police specifically authorizes it in writing.

The 17th season of Bigg Boss saw the victory of comedian Munawar Faruqui. Thousands of his followers greeted him warmly at Dongri in Mumbai. He was spotted in a video opening his car’s sunroof and just standing there. A sea of people congregated around his vehicle. He was spotted hoisting his Bigg Boss trophy, which he briefly revealed.

The reality show winner also gestured at them to cheer for him. His fans shouted, tried to shake his hands, click pictures and greet him. Munawar greeted them with folded hands and thanked them for their support.

Earlier, Munawar had shared a picture with the Bigg Boss 17 host Salman Khan. His post read , “Bohot bohot shukriya janta. Aapke pyaar aur support ke liye aakhir kar trophy Dongri aa hi gayi (A lot of thanks, people. With your love and support, the trophy finally reached Dongri).” He also added, “Special thanks to bade Bhai (big brother) @beingsalmankhan sir for all your guidance… We have done it.”

In an another incident of intrusion in Indian airspace, a suspected Pakistani drone has been spotted by the Border Security Forces in Punjab’s Gurdaspur near the Adia post late Wednesday.

According to the officials, this is the fourth instance of a Pakistani drone being spotted on the Indian side in the last three days and of the BSF jawans on duty firing at it and forcing it back to Pakistan.

BSF DIG Prabhakar Joshi at Gurdaspur Sector said, “A Pakistani drone was spotted near the Adia post of BSF last night. BSF troops fired towards the drone. Search operation underway by police and BSF.”

BSF in a statement said that a total of 22 drones were captured by the jawans on duty while shooting at it and forcing it back to Pakistan. In addition to this, a total of 316 Kg of drugs were seized by the BSF and the BSF along the Punjab border killed two Pakistani intruders.

The BSF earlier this year said, “The troops of the Punjab Frontier have maintained an extremely high level of alertness and vigil. Resultantly, BSF has successfully detected and captured 22 drones and seized 316.988 kgs of heroin, 67 weapons, 850 rounds and killed two Pakistan intruders and apprehended 23 Pakistan nationals in different incidents.”
BSF, Punjab Frontier is responsible for safeguarding the 553-km long tough and challenging India-Pakistan International Border on Punjab.

Data collected by various security agencies have revealed that there has been a threefold increase in drone sighting incidents along the India-Pakistan border in the last year.
The Unidentified Aerial Vehicles (UAV) have emerged as a major source of smuggling arms and ammunition, as well as drugs into India. Drones have been sighted in different areas in Punjab and were within a range of 2km 10 km of the International Border.

Meanwhile, at two BSF posts of the Border Security Force (BSF) under Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur district of Punjab.

It is believed that the drones entered India in Punjab’s Gurdaspur sector from the Pakistan side along the International Border.

According to the BSF’s Gurdaspur DIG Prabhakar Joshi at around 10.30 pm Sunday drones were spotted at Chandu Wadala Post and Kassowal Post.

Talking about the action DIG said drones were immediately fired. “Another drone was spotted near the Chandu Wadala post at around midnight (Monday),” Joshi said.

However, the search operation is underway and further details are awaited.

Earlier on 14 October, a Pakistani drone was shot down by BSF jawans at the Shahpur border outpost of Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur. After sighting the drone, about 17 rounds of fire were done on the drone by the jawans.

Furthermore, BSF jawans found a packet of heroin near Barike village during a search operation in Fazilka, Punjab on the night of 14-15 December. The packet contained about 2.650 kg of heroin. That heroin was also dropped from the Pakistani side through drones. The police had arrested a person in the case.

In another crackdown against the terror activities, the Border Security Forces (BSF) shot down a drone at the International Border near Punjab’s Amritsar entering from Pakistan into the Indian Territory. “The drone will be sent to the BSF Francis unit after investigation,” Jasbir Singh, Commandant, BSF said on Saturday.

The drone was shot down near the village Chaharpur in the Amritsar Rural district of Punjab, an official statement from the PRO BSF read, adding that the area has been cordoned off and police and other concerned agencies have also been informed. The BSF also recovered one Hexacopter in partially damaged condition with a suspected item in white polythene.

Meanwhile in a major clampdown against terror nexus, National Investigation Agency (NIA) this morning launched massive multi-state raids covering Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and Haryana, sources said.

With the objective to dismantle and disrupt the emerging nexus between terrorists, gangsters and drug smugglers based in India and abroad, the raids are being conducted at the premises of these gansgtersin more than six districts across these four states.
