She defended her outfit online, saying others wore more revealing clothes and she only showed her arms and stomach.
</excerpt>

Nicole Arena has come under fire after being criticized for the clothing she wore on a recent trip to Disney World. The controversy started when she went to the theme park wearing a sports bra and leggings and was informed by the staff that it was ‘improper’.

As Nicole relates, she had already spent an hour waiting for a ride when she was halted and told she had to buy a $45 T-shirt before she could get on. Sharing her experience on TikTok, she uploaded a photo with her husband and wrote, “Was so happy to be here that I didn’t realize I was ‘improperly dressed’ and would be forced to buy a $45 tshirt or else I could not get on the ride I waited an hour for.”

Social Media Reacts

Nicole’s attire, a sports bra that showed off her arms and stomach, with leggings caused controversy on the internet. Some users sympathized with her, but most users criticized her for dressing the way she did and said it was inappropriate for a family-friendly like Disney World.

“Perfectly fine for the gym. Not fine for anywhere public, not even Disney,” someone on TikTok wrote. Another stated, “If it’s a bra, it’s underwear. I don’t think I could get in in underwear.”

“Disney and the gym are two separate places. A bra is worn underneath shirts at family friendly places,” another critic commented. “I mean it’s a bra. Of course you can’t go to a family park in it. Be so for real. I am so glad they are finally cracking down,” was another comment.

Nicole Stands Her Ground

Later, Nicole featured in another video where she shared with her audience the outfit that earned her the scolding. “I wasn’t showing anything except for my stomach and my arms, but you guys are behaving as if I went out naked,” she explained as she defended her clothing.

She also accused Disney of inconsistency in enforcing dress code policies. “People are really upset with me for wearing a sports bra at Disney. The irony of that post was that I saw a lot of people at Disney wearing a lot less than what I was,” Nicole explained.

Even though she was permitted to enter the park wearing it, Nicole was subsequently informed that it was inappropriate, igniting frustration and confusion regarding what is accepted as proper dress. Disney has not officially commented on the incident to date.

This case could redefine how Hollywood handles AI-generated content.
</excerpt>

Disney and Universal Studios sue AI firm Midjourney in a landmark lawsuit that accuses the startup of blatantly stealing copyrighted characters. This conflict between Hollywood’s legacy studios and a digital disruptor indicates a broader rift in the entertainment industry’s hesitant embrace of artificial intelligence.

While studios eagerly explore AI for production advantages, they now face the very threat they feared: AI tools replicating their intellectual property with startling ease and zero permission.

Disney and Universal Studios Sue Midjourney Over Image Tool

Disney and Universal Studios argue that Midjourney’s AI image tool has become a digital “piracy machine,” churning out endless visuals of beloved characters like Darth Vader, Elsa, and the Minions. These images, created from simple text prompts, allegedly violate copyright laws by copying without transformation.

In their complaint filed in Los Angeles, the studios presented side-by-side comparisons of iconic figures Yoda, Iron Man, the Hulk, and Spider-Man rendered through Midjourney’s generator with little to no artistic reinterpretation.

Disney’s legal chief, Horacio Gutierrez, reinforced that while the company sees promise in AI’s creative potential, it draws a firm line against theft: “Piracy is piracy, and the fact that an AI company does it does not make it any less infringing.”

The lawsuit also reveals that Midjourney made $300 million last year and is preparing a video generation service, potentially escalating the threat to visual media giants even further.

Legal Experts Warn the Court Fight Will Be Complex

Experts caution that Disney and Universal’s case, while significant, won’t be easy to win. Law professor Shubha Ghosh notes that Midjourney’s outputs “just seem to be copies” rather than transformative works. Copyright law does allow for creative derivations but not for near-identical replicas in new contexts.

However, IP lawyer Randy McCarthy points out that Midjourney’s terms of service and fair use arguments could complicate the ruling, stressing, “No litigation is ever a slam dunk.”

Midjourney, a San Francisco-based independent research lab led by David Holz, has not issued a public statement. Despite its small team, the company is under intense scrutiny as the lawsuit raises pressing questions about AI’s role in modern media and whether unchecked generation tools risk dismantling decades of protected creative labour.

</excerpt>

The Walt Disney Company has started a large wave of layoffs. According to reports, this round affects hundreds of employees. It targets multiple departments under Disney Entertainment, including marketing for both film and TV.

Cuts Go Beyond Marketing

Besides marketing teams, the layoffs also hit staff in TV publicity, casting, development, and corporate financial operations. Sources told Deadline that the number of job losses on both the film and TV sides is about the same.

Most Staff Affected Are Based in Los Angeles

Many of the impacted employees reportedly work at Disney Entertainment Television in Los Angeles. This marks the fourth round of layoffs in the past ten months. However, it is also the biggest so far.

Disney Restructures to Cut Costs

These layoffs are part of Disney’s ongoing efforts to cut costs. The company, like others in traditional media, is shifting its focus to streaming. At the same time, it is trying to deal with economic challenges.

Iger’s Goal: Save $7.5 Billion

When Bob Iger returned as CEO in early 2023, he set a bold goal. He aimed to cut $7.5 billion in costs. That year, the company eliminated about 7,000 jobs.

Earlier Layoffs in March and October

In March, Disney laid off around 200 people. That round impacted almost 6% of the staff at ABC News and networks like Freeform and FX.

Before that, in October, Disney shut down ABC Signature. Its operations moved to 20th Television. The company also merged scripted drama and comedy teams for ABC and Hulu Originals. That restructuring led to around 30 more job cuts.

Lower-Level Executives Also Impacted

This latest round has also affected lower-ranking staff. Deadline reported that a manager of drama programming at ABC Hulu lost their job too.

Find out his vision for it here.
</excerpt>

Ryan Reynolds is interested in whether or not an R-rated Star Wars venture can be profitable. The actor from Deadpool & Wolverine, itself an R-rated film that became a big box office hit, expressed his opinion while appearing on a new installment of The Box Office podcast. He did not express much enthusiasm in acting in such a venture if made but will certainly be willing to produce it.

Proposal for an R-Rated Star Wars Project

Ryan said, “I pitched to Disney, I said, ‘Why don’t we do an R-rated Star Wars property? It doesn’t have to be overt, A+ characters. There’s a wide range of characters you could use.’ And I don’t mean R-rated to be vulgar. R-rated as a Trojan horse for emotion. I always wonder why studios don’t want to just gamble on something like that.”

He went on to add, “I’m not saying I want to be in it. That would be a bad fit. I’d want to produce and write or be a part of behind the scenes. Those kinds of IP subsist really well on scarcity and surprise. We don’t get scarcity really with ‘Star Wars’ because of Disney+, but you can certainly still surprise people.”

Recent Film of Ryan Reynolds: Deadpool & Wolverine

The last film of Ryan was Deadpool & Wolverine, which was released in July 2024. Deadpool & Wolverine united Marvel’s best superheroes, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. The film was directed by Shawn Levy. With the film, Hugh emerged from his permanent retirement of Wolverine.

For the Star Wars enthusiasts, the next in pipeline is The Mandalorian and Grogu. The movie, which is directed by Jon Favreau and co-penned by Favreau and Dave Filoni, features Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin / The Mandalorian. It is set to be released next year in May.

</excerpt>

Disney has apparently put the live-action remake of Tangled, the popular 2010 animated movie based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, on hold. The film had been in development with director Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) on board and a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Thor: Love and Thunder, Do Revenge).

But, sources told a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has opted to put the brakes on presumably because of the poor performance of its last live-action remake, Snow White.

Snow White’s Poor Performance Impacts Future Projects of Disney

Snow White performed poorly both at the box office and with critics. For all its enormous $270 million budget helped along in part by the 2023 labour strikes the film only managed to gross $69 million domestically and $145 million worldwide. Controversies surrounded the production from the very beginning, such as criticism about casting decisions and artistic control. Throughout the marketing tour of the film, top star Rachel Zegler gained more publicity with contentious social media comments. In the end, the movie did not succeed in winning over crowds, receiving a B+ CinemaScore (regarded as average for Disney) and rating just 50% on Metacritic.

Cracks in Live-Action Strategy of Disney

The uncertain fate of Tangled underscores the widening cracks in Disney’s live-action remake strategy. Since the early 2010s, the studio has relied heavily on remaking its animated classics, with variable success. Blockbusters such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King were huge box office hits, while others, including Dumbo and Pete’s Dragon, fell short.

Mixed Results from Recent Remakes

Later on, Mufasa: The Lion King came in with a modest $35.4 million at home but eventually jumped to a whopping $718 million worldwide. The Little Mermaid’s reception was a bit more subdued, with it grossing $570 million globally. These differences indicate that perhaps the nostalgia-tinged formula is not quite as sure-fire as it once was.

Whether or not Tangled will continue to progress in the future or get creatively reimagined is something that only time will tell. For the meantime, Disney seems to be reconsidering its strategy as audience burnout over live-action remakes continues to swell.

Animator Sues Disney for $10 Billion Lawsuit

<excerpt>Animator Buck Woodall has sued Disney for $10 billion, claiming Moana and its sequel copied his project Bucky. He alleges Disney used his screenplay and trailer, highlighting specific similarities between the films. Disney denies the claims, stating no creators had access to Woodall’s materials.
</excerpt>

Animator Buck Woodall has filed a $10 billion lawsuit against Disney, alleging the company copied his idea for the animated film Moana and its sequel, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The lawsuit, filed last week in California federal court, claims Disney took elements from Woodall’s screenplay for a project titled Bucky, which features similar themes of teenagers from an ancient Polynesian village embarking on adventures to protect their homes.

According to the complaint, Woodall gave his screenplay and a trailer for Bucky to Jenny Marchick, a former Mandeville Films executive who now heads up development for feature films at DreamWorks Animation.

Disney’s Moana was created following the receipt by Defendants of virtually all constituent parts that are necessary to create and make such film over the past 17+ years of inspiration and work towards his animated film, according to the lawsuit.

The complaint also points out other similarities between Moana and Bucky, such as a dramatic sequence in which “Moana and her crew are sucked into a perilous whirlpool-like oceanic portal, another dramatic and unique device-imagery found in Plaintiff’s materials that could not possibly have been developed by chance or without malicious intentions.”

He previously filed a similar lawsuit over the original Moana film, which was dismissed last November after he was ruled to have waited too long to bring the case, but the premiere of Moana 2 reopens the chance for legal action.

So far, Disney hasn’t commented on the new case. In the earlier case, the company has flatly denied all allegations, arguing that no one associated with Moana had seen Woodall’s materials. “Moana was not inspired by or based in any way on [Woodall] or his ‘Bucky’ project, which I learned of for the first time after this lawsuit was filed,” Moana director Ron Clements stated in a court declaration.

Moana 2: Success and Awards

Moana 2 is the direct sequel of the 2016 hit movie, released last year. Moana 2 follows the storyline of Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) and assembles her crew for the new adventure she embarks with Maui, portrayed by Dwayne Johnson. Moana 2 was a highly successful film as it grossed $964 million, making it the fourth most-grossed movie of 2024.

Not only is Moana 2 successful at the box office, but it is also being considered as a front-runner in the Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song categories for the 2024-2025 awards season.

The video captures this quirky trash bin as it moves around the area asking for garbage, saying “I want to eat garbage” humorously as it pleads for garbage. It serves to entertain while promoting proper disposal of waste.

‘I want to eat garbage’

The odd waste bin has a playful twist in managing trash at the park. In the video, the talking bin expresses hunger for trash and screams, “I want to eat garbage, is there really none? Aaaah! There’s none, the garbage is gone.” When someone offers it some trash, it joyfully responds with, “Yumyumyum,” showing satisfaction.

Watch:

As the film starts, people are sitting around what appears to be an average dustbin. But in a dramatic turn of events, it suddenly begins talking to everyone’s surprise. Moving from person to person, excitedly asking for garbage before happily taking some from the woman, who had tissue with her in her hand, the dustbin exclaims, “Yumyumyum” excitedly.

Disney Channel To Shut Down Around The Globe

The Disney Channel, a staple of children’s entertainment, is slowly being eliminated from traditional TV lineups in countries around the world. As part of a global plan, The Walt Disney Company already closed the network in nations like Australia, Southeast Asia, Italy, South Korea, and the UK. The company reportedly will close operations in France and Spain this year, early 2025.

Disney promises to continue airing old Disney Channel episodes on Disney+, ensuring uninterrupted viewing.
This undertaking to further expand on-demand access is aligned with modern consumer preferences and becomes a testament to the company’s on-demand access commitment.

The End for Disney Channel Spain

The exit of Disney Channel from Spain represents a crucial chapter in the history of the network. First launched in 1998 as a pay-TV channel, it became the first Disney Channel in the world to shift to free-to-air broadcasting in 2008. It introduced global hits such as Hannah Montana and High School Musical to Spanish audiences and created popularlocal programs like Art Attack.

However, the rise of streaming platforms led to a steady decline in viewership, with the channel’s audience share dropping from its peak of 2.4% in the early 2010s to 0.8% in recent years.

Good News for U.S. Fans: Disney Channel Isn’t Going Anywhere Yet

Despite international closures, Disney Channel in the U.S. shows no signs of shutting down. Social media rumors that it was closing in North America were unfounded, according to reports. The channel continues to be an integral part of Disney’s offerings in its home market, delivering a mix of nostalgic and fresh programming.

Although the fact that Disney+ exists may have implications for the network’s future, the Disney Channel can still be seen on-air in the U.S., filling generations of viewers with nostalgia through its classic programs.

</excerpt>

India’s Competition Commission has approved Reliance Industries’ merger with Disney’s Indian media assets, a deal valued at Rs 70,350 crore (approximately $8.5 billion). The green light comes with conditions requiring the companies to implement certain voluntary changes.

The CCI shared the approval on social media, noting, “The commission has approved the merger involving Reliance Industries Ltd, Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd, Digital18 Media Ltd, Star India Pvt Ltd, and Star Television Productions Ltd, provided the parties adhere to the agreed voluntary modifications.”

Dharmendra Kumar, a former CCI chairperson, explained that these modifications should expedite the regulatory process. “This development is quite significant as it will result in a large entertainment group with an extensive viewership,” Kumar added.

Concerns about creating a dominant player, especially in cricket broadcasting, likely prompted the modifications. These changes aim to prevent any adverse effects on competition and ensure broader access to cricket coverage.

The merger, which is set to combine Viacom18’s media operations with Star India Pvt Ltd through a court-approved process, is expected to be finalized by late 2024 or early 2025. Reliance will inject Rs 11,500 crore (about $1.4 billion) into the joint venture.

Once completed, the new entity will challenge major competitors like Sony, Netflix, and Amazon, operating 120 TV channels and two streaming services. The board will consist of 10 members: five from Reliance, three from Disney, and two independent directors. Nita Ambani will chair the merged company, with former Walt Disney executive Uday Shankar as Vice Chairperson.

Ownership will be split with Reliance holding 16.34%, Viacom18 46.82%, and Disney 36.84%, with Reliance retaining control. Reliance Industries’ shares closed at Rs 2,999 on the NSE on August 28, following the CCI’s announcement.

</excerpt>

Recent social media rumors claimed that rioters set Disney World’s Cinderella Castle on fire, following an article by Mouse Trap News. This report suggested the incident occurred on Friday, stating that firefighters were impeded by rioters and fought the blaze throughout the night while guests watched the event unfold. The article further alleged that these rioters were protesting climate change and likened their actions to previous vandalism incidents at Stonehenge and the Mona Lisa.

The report claimed, “These people don’t care about historic landmarks or paintings and want to destroy them for the sake of activism,” and noted that “unfortunately, police didn’t arrest any of the rioters who set Cinderella Castle on fire.”

A video shared by Mouse Trap News, which purportedly showed the fire, also gained attention. One viewer commented, “Wow! Can’t believe they made it past security,” while another wrote, “They had to make room for the new attractions. Paying the rioters is cheaper than hiring a company to do it.” A third person stated, “These climate protesters need to be arrested and pay for any damages and rebuilding.”

However, this news is completely false. Mouse Trap News explicitly states in its “About” section that it is “the world’s best satire and parody site.” It continues, “We write fake stories about Disney Parks stuff. From Disney Park announcements to Disney Hotel and resort news to made-up Disney partnerships, you can be assured that anything you read here is not true, real, or accurate, but it is fun.”

Earlier this year, Mouse Trap News falsely reported that Cinderella Castle had been destroyed in a fire. Last month, it also claimed that Disney World had banned all tattoos in its theme parks.

These announcements come as Disney aims to double its capital investment in parks to $60 billion over the next decade, despite recent slowdowns in the parks business. The new developments are expected to revitalize visitor interest and expand Disney’s global appeal.

</excerpt>

The title for Avatar 3 has finally been unveiled. At the D23 Expo on Friday, director James Cameron, along with stars Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, announced that the third installment in the Avatar series will be titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, as reported by Variety.

Although no footage from the film was shown, Cameron presented some concept art, including images of Neytiri (Saldana) dancing over flames and riding banshees. Cameron described the upcoming film as a visually stunning adventure with heightened emotional stakes, saying, “You’ll see a lot more of Pandora that you’ve never seen before. It’s an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it’s also got very high emotional stakes, more than ever before. We’re venturing into really challenging territory for all the characters you know and love.”

Fire and Ash was filmed concurrently with Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), which depicted the ongoing conflict between humanity and the Na’vi after the Resources Development Administration (RDA) returned to Pandora. In The Way of Water, Jake Sully (Worthington) and Neytiri (Saldana) successfully defended the Metkayina clan and the whale-like Tulkuns from an RDA assault, but suffered the loss of their eldest son and faced ongoing RDA presence.

The new film will continue the story shortly after these events, with Jake and Neytiri encountering the “Ash People,” a more aggressive Na’vi clan. Avatar: Fire and Ash is scheduled to hit theaters on December 19, 2025. The original Avatar (2009) remains the highest-grossing film of all time, and its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, was released in December 2022. Cameron has produced all the Avatar films alongside his longtime collaborator Jon Landau, who passed away in July at the age of 63.

Disney has provided a new look at the legendary characters Mufasa and Scar with the release of the trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King, showcased at the Disney Entertainment Showcase during D23. The trailer, also available on Disney’s official social media channels, offers a fresh perspective on the early, more innocent bond between the iconic lion brothers before their relationship takes a darker turn.

This new angle highlights the deep connection between Mufasa and Scar as they transition from playful cubs to adult lions. At the D23 event, attendees were treated to a touching scene from the film featuring an original song by Lin-Manuel Miranda, titled “I Always Wanted A Brother.” This track underscores a sequence where Mufasa and Scar develop a close, brotherly friendship. Miranda, who joined the stage unexpectedly, explained that his involvement came after being inspired by the film’s screenplay while working on Encanto. He mentioned that the music “just began to form in my head” as he read the script.

Set to release on December 20, Mufasa: The Lion King is directed by Barry Jenkins, known for his Oscar-winning film Moonlight. The story is framed by the baboon Rafiki recounting Mufasa’s tale to his granddaughter Kiara, with the narrative unfolding through flashbacks. It details Mufasa’s journey from an orphaned cub to his encounter with Taka, a compassionate lion of royal lineage.

The voice cast includes Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, with Kelvin Harrison Jr., Mads Mikkelsen, and Thandiwe Newton in significant roles. Blue Ivy Carter will voice Kiara, while Beyoncé returns as Nala and Tiffany Boone voices Sarabi. </excerpt>

At the Disney D23 Expo on Friday, Disney unveiled the first footage from its eagerly awaited live-action adaptation of the 1937 animated classic Snow White. Set to premiere in theaters on March 21, 2025, the teaser clip was also shared on Disney’s official social media platforms, introducing Rachel Zegler as the iconic title character. The clip offers a blend of nostalgia and modernity, as Zegler performs a delightful rendition of “Whistle While You Work” with the dwarves in their charming home. Her joyful dance and crystal-clear vocals capture the essence of the original song.

In addition to the initial footage, Disney released a teaser trailer showcasing key moments from the film. The trailer highlights Gal Gadot as the wicked stepmother, presenting her transformation into the infamous evil witch. It also features Snow White picking apples, Gadot in a menacing crown, and a faithful recreation of the magical mirror scene. Gadot described her role as, “She’s evil, she’s magical, she’s delicious,” aiming to bring a fresh depth to the classic villain and infuse a contemporary edge into the story.

Directed by Marc Webb, known for The Amazing Spider-Man and 500 Days of Summer, the film boasts a script by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson, with Marc Platt as producer. Tony Award-winning actor Andrew Burnap joins the cast as a new male lead, introducing a new dynamic to the narrative.

The original music for the film is composed by the Oscar-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, renowned for their work on La La Land. Their compositions are expected to enhance the film’s musical landscape with both classic and new, original pieces.

Staying true to the Brothers Grimm tale, the film follows Snow White as she finds refuge with seven dwarf miners after being banished into a dangerous forest by her jealous stepmother. With its blend of classic charm and modern updates, Disney’s Snow White is set to enchant audiences and add a new chapter to the beloved story’s legacy.

The latest installment in the popular animated series is set to debut on November 24, 2027, in line with Disney’s traditional Thanksgiving release date, as reported by Deadline.

During the event, filmmaker Jennifer Lee presented the initial concept art, which showcased beloved characters Anna and Elsa. The artwork features the sisters riding horses towards a sunlit horizon, with Olaf perched on Anna’s horse, hinting at an expansive new adventure for the trio.

Lee also addressed lingering questions from Frozen 2, suggesting that the upcoming film will delve into unresolved storylines. She noted, “There were a lot of questions coming out of Frozen 2… it will take two films to answer them,” which hints at the potential for a fourth film in the series, according to Deadline.

While no official logo for Frozen 4 was unveiled, this is consistent with previous comments from Disney CEO Bob Iger, who confirmed that a fourth installment is in development. </excerpt>

David Henrie, famed for his role as Justin Russo in Disney Channel’s ‘Wizards of Waverly Place,’ has hinted at an emotional reunion with co-star Selena Gomez in the upcoming revival of the series.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Henrie discussed the highly anticipated sequel series on Disney+, where he returns as Justin Russo, now navigating life as a mortal alongside his family. The storyline evolves when Alex Russo (portrayed by Selena Gomez) introduces a young wizard named Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) into Justin’s world, leading him to mentor the aspiring wizard.

</excerpt>

Walt Disney has agreed to sell its stake in Tata Play, valuing the Indian conglomerate Tata Group’s satellite TV provider at approximately $1 billion, according to Bloomberg News sources.

The move comes as Disney aims to focus on its merger with India’s leading conglomerate, Reliance Industries, to create an $8.5 billion entertainment giant, surpassing competitors in India.

Last month, Tata Sons, the Tata Group’s holding company, raised its stake in Tata Play to 70% by acquiring a 10% stake from Singapore’s state investment firm, Temasek, for about $100 million, as reported by local media.

Following Temasek’s exit, Tata Play now operates as a 70:30 joint venture between Tata and Disney. The change in the joint venture’s shareholding ratio after the stake sale was not specified in the Bloomberg report.

Both Disney and Tata Group did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Reuters.

Disney acquired its stake in Tata Play through the purchase of Star India, which it acquired as part of the 21st Century Fox’s India assets acquisition in 2017.

Directed by Barry Jenkins, known for ‘Moonlight,’ the film explores Simba’s father’s journey to power. Inspired by Jon Favreau’s 2019 version of Disney’s classic animated film, it promises a fresh take on the beloved story.

The trailer’s opening scene features a sprawling forest, the peaceful home of the animal kingdom, offering glimpses of Mufasa’s journey and encounters with various characters, including adventures that shape his journey. The cast includes Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, Billy Eichner as Timon, Donald Glover as Simba, John Kani as Rafiki, and Seth Rogen as Pumbaa.

The official summary reads as follows: “Mufasa: The Lion King enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka — the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny — their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.”

The music in the film was created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, while Jeff Nathanson wrote the screenplay for the 2019 movie directed by Jon Favreau.

In response to the trailer, one fan wrote, “This looks more impressive and promising than its predecessor…”
“Hopefully, with Barry Jenkins directing this, it will be something special Here’s hoping,” said a second admirer.
Someone commented, “I guess from this trailer we see where Simba got his adventurous vibe from. I thought he was just curious but now it feels like he got it from his father.”
“I’m actually surprised. The environments look more beautiful and more colorful and the animals have more expression and life in them. I’m pretty excited,” said another.

The Lion King’s prequel, ‘Mufasa,’ is scheduled for release in theaters on December 20.

</excerpt>

Disney has revealed a new glimpse into the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 hit movie ‘Moana.’ Shared on X, the image showcases an older Moana confidently sailing while holding an oar. Although details about ‘Moana 2’ are scarce, it is slated for a theatrical release this November.

Earlier in February, Disney had announced the sequel to ‘Moana.’ According to Variety, Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, disclosed the news on CNBC prior to Disney’s first-quarter fiscal 2024 earnings report. Initially planned as a television series, the second installment of ‘Moana’ was upgraded to a feature film after Iger was impressed with the initial footage.

‘Moana 2’ promises to take audiences on an “expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui, and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers.” As per Disney’s description, Moana embarks on a journey to the far seas of Oceania and into perilous, long-lost waters following an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, encountering an adventure unlike any before.

Directed by Dave Derrick Jr., the sequel will feature music from Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, who contributed to the original film. However, Lin-Manuel Miranda, known for creating iconic songs for ‘Moana,’ is unlikely to contribute fresh material for the sequel.

The first ‘Moana’ was a box office success, grossing over $680 million. It also received renewed attention on Disney+ last year, accumulating 1 billion hours of streaming. Disney’s decision to release ‘Moana 2’ in theaters follows a disappointing box office performance in 2023, marked by underwhelming releases like ‘Wish’ from Disney Animation, alongside other disappointments such as ‘The Marvels,’ ‘Haunted Mansion,’ and ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.’

The series is scheduled to premiere with a five-episode launch on May 15, exclusively on Disney internationally and on Hulu in the US. Following the premiere, the 16-part series will continue with two episodes per week until a three-part season finale on June 19.

Directed by veteran Korean filmmaker Shin Yeon-Shick, known for works like ‘The Russian Novel’ and ‘Cobweb,’ ‘Uncle Samsik’ is set in 1960s Korea. The plot centers on Kim San, portrayed by Byun Yohan, an idealistic individual determined to revolutionize his country’s fate by ushering in an era of industrial prosperity similar to America’s affluence. However, his journey is intertwined with the mysterious figure of Pak Doochill, played by Song, who operates as a clandestine operative willing to employ any means necessary to achieve their shared objectives.

‘Uncle Samsik’ is expected to enthrall audiences with its intriguing storyline and outstanding performances, serving as a compelling addition to the realm of political drama. As excitement builds for its debut, fans are eager to see Song Kang-Ho’s transition from the big screen to the small screen.

With USD 855 million (equivalent to INR 7,000 crores) in worldwide ticket sales after 10 days in theatres, Disney and 20th Century’s highbudget epic ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ has become the fifth-highest grossing film of the year. According to Variety, James Cameron’s longawaited sequel has so far brought in USD 253.7 million domestically and USD 600 million overseas.

The ‘Avatar’ sequel is anticipated to generate significant box office revenue in the near future, despite the severe winter weather in North America and the rising rates of COVID, RSV, and the flu worldwide. Variety reports that the USD 350 million budgeted film hopes to surpass the USD 1 billion mark by the end of the year. Only two other movies in 2022 have been able to surpass it: ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Jurassic World Dominion.’

According to Variety, the highest-grossing country outside of North America for ‘Avatar 2’ has been China, with USD 100.5 million, followed by Korea (USD 53 million), France (USD 52.3 million), India (USD 37 million), and Germany (USD 35.7 million). However, as per Variety, there are a number of reasons why the sequel will find it difficult to match the success of the first movie, which brought in USD 2.97 billion globally, making it the highestgrossing picture in history. For starters, the global box office hasn’t entirely recovered from the pandemic, and significant markets like China are seeing the infection reemerge. Additionally, the sequel won’t be seen in Russia, where the first movie made USD 116 million.

Disney+ Hotstar made several significant announcements about Indian projects on Friday during the D23 Expo taking place in the US. These include an upcoming television series based on the Mahabharata epic. Two others were Koffee With Karan season 8 and a brand-new show called Showtime.

Madhu Mantena, Mythoverse Studios, and Allu Entertainment will produce the Mahabharata. The Indian mythological epic Maharabharat explores the struggle between justice and wrong as the Kauravas and Paavas engage in combat in the ancient Indian city of Kurukshetra.

The announcement was made during the expo by Gaurav Banerjee, Head of Content for Disney+ Hotstar and HSM Entertainment Network, Disney Star.

Banerjee said at the International Content and Operations session, “There are over a billion people who know the story in some form, or the other. Most of them in my country have heard it as children from their grandparents. There are billions more who remain unaware of what they have been missing. It would indeed be a privilege to be able to bring this incredible story to a wider global audience next year.”
