Two children tragically died after allegedly consuming food at a wedding function in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Friday, officials reported. The incident took place in Satyalta village, Ghordi block, on July 31.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur, Joginder Singh Jasrotia, informed ANI that the children experienced vomiting and diarrhea after eating at the wedding.

“Based on the information we have, they consumed food at a wedding function on July 31. They later complained of vomiting and diarrhea. Unfortunately, two children were brought dead,” he stated.

“Initial findings suggest that food poisoning might be the cause. A high-level inquiry has been launched to thoroughly investigate the incident,” Jasrotia added.

A team has been formed on the orders of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, with instructions to submit their report within a day.

The IOM reports that 41 survivors were rescued by the Haitian Coast Guard. Toby Yates, the son of acclaimed director-producer Peter Yates, passed away at the age of 61 after a successful 40-year career as a film editor in Hollywood, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Throughout his career, Yates collaborated frequently with filmmaker Karen Moncrieff, lending his editing skills to her debut film ‘Blue Car,’ as well as ‘The Dead Girl’ and ‘The Trials of Cate McCall.’ He also worked on ‘The Moon and the Stars’ for director John Irvin, earning him the prestigious best editor award at the Milano International Film Festival.

Additionally, he contributed to ‘The Midnight Meat Train’ and ‘No One Lives’ under the direction of Ryuhei Kitamura. His most recent project was editing Damian Harris’s film ‘Brave the Dark.’ Toby Robert Quentin Yates was born in London on September 18, 1962, and grew up between London and New York City.

It is worth mentioning that Peter Yates gained recognition for his directorial work on films such as ‘Bullitt,’ ‘The Friends of Eddie Coyle,’ ‘The Deep,’ and ‘Suspect,’ among others. He was also nominated for multiple directing and best picture Oscars for his contributions to ‘Breaking Away’ and ‘The Dresser.’

Unfortunately, he passed away at the age of 81 in 2011 due to heart failure..

7 killed, 1 injured in California shootings; suspected gunman held

After separate shootings in the Half Moon Bay area in northern California, seven people were killed and another person critically injured on Monday.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said, hours after the shootings suspected gunman was arrested.

Meanwhile, in a targeted shooting at Des Moines in Iowa at a charter school two students were killed. In a critical situation, they were taken to hospital but there they succumbed to their injuries.

Moreover, on Saturday in a popular dance studio in Southern California’s Monterey Park, 11 people died after a gunman shoot people.

Addressing the media San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus said, the incident in ‘horrific’ and the accused had been taken into custody and a semi-automatic handgun was found in his vehicle.

“It’s a tragedy that we hear about far too often but today has hit home here in San Mateo County,” Sheriff said.

Releasing a statement Dave Pine said, “We are sickened by today’s tragedy in Half Moon Bay. The scourge of gun violence has sadly hit home. We have not even had time to grieve for those lost in the terrible shooting in Monterey Park. Gun violence must stop.”

“The State of California has among the strictest gun laws in the United States, which we have strengthened through local action here, but more must be done. The status quo cannot be tolerated,” the San Mateo Board of Supervisors President said.

‘Culprits to be punished severely’: Kejriwal on woman who died after being dragged by car

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, decried the death of a 20-year-old woman who was run over by a car and dragged for about seven kilometres in Sultanpuri, the capital. According to a report, they were both master’s students at Missouri’s St. Louis University.

Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao, in a tweet, said he has asked his team to assist the grieving families in getting back the mortal remains. “I have already asked my team @KTRoffice to assist the family in getting the mortal remains back asap,” he wrote.

According to news agency PTI, which cited the police statement, the incident happened on Saturday noon when Kunta had gone swimming, but as he failed to emerge, his friend Kelligari jumped into the lake to rescue him but also failed to come back up. Following a distress call at 2:20 p.m., rescue services recovered Kunta’s body two hours after the incident, while Kelligari’s was located later on Sunday, police said. Both were pronounced dead on the scene, police records said.

Indian Army pays tribute to a soldier who died on Siachen Glacier

The Siachen Conflict began in 1984 when a military operation to seize the Siachen Glacier in Jammu and Kashmir was initiated. Indian troops were able to take control of the entire Siachen Glacier as a result of the military action.
According to the Indian Army, Lance Naik late Chander Sekhar had been missing in Siachen since May 29, 1984.

“LNk (Late) Chander Shekhar was identified with the help of the identification disk bearing his Army number which was entangled along with the mortal remains,” it said, adding that further details were recovered from official Army records.

The late soldier had been deployed for Operation Meghdoot at Gyongla Glacier in 1984, according to the Indian Army’s records.

“A patrol of Indian Army recovered the mortal remains of LNk (Late) Chander Shekhar who was missing since 29 May 1984 while deployed at glacier due to an avalanche,” the Northern Command of Indian Army said in a tweet.

India and Pakistan have been at war with each other on and off since 1984, with the Siachen Glacier serving as the highest battleground on the planet. Both countries have a permanent military presence in the region at a height of over 6,000 meters (20,000 ft) (20,000 ft). More than 2,000 soldiers have lost their lives in this hostile environment, most frequently as a result of meteorological catastrophes and the inherent dangers of mountain warfare.
