The incident took place around 7:00 AM at a residence near Laxmi Narayan Mandir on Bawana Road. Following the explosion, a PCR call was made to the Narela police station, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered that the first floor of a house (KH 12/18) near Laxmi Narayan Mandir in Swatantra Nagar had suffered significant damage, with several walls destroyed due to the blast.

The injured individuals have been identified as Vijay (28), Bobby (23), Neelam (25), Pooja (30), Aruna (35), and a teenager. They were initially transported to Raja Harish Chandra Hospital in Narela for treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder leak. A crime team and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team have been dispatched to the site to conduct a thorough investigation and confirm the cause of the blast.

A case has been registered at the Narela police station, and further inquiries are ongoing, officials stated.

The car’s bumper and bonnet were severely damaged in the accident, which occurred when the vehicle lost control and skidded off the road.

The boy, who was a co-passenger in the car, suffered injuries when his head hit the dashboard. The driver, 20-year-old Sukhwinder Singh, was taken for a medical examination to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol. Singh, a resident of east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar, had picked the boy up from school, according to the police.

Car’s Damaged Condition, Investigation Underway

Post-crash visuals show the BMW’s front bumper and bonnet severely damaged, with rods from the divider’s railing piercing through the bonnet. The car had landed on the divider, causing a commotion among other vehicles on the road. The police were quick to respond to the incident, which occurred close to the iconic Delhi Gate on the road leading toward ITO, just ahead of the Arun Jaitely Cricket stadium.

Car Registered to Notorious Individual, Police Investigating

The car was registered in the name of Aas Mohammad alias Ashu Pehlwan, who has been “exiled from Delhi for two years” and is prohibited from entering the national capital. The police said Pehlwan has been involved in several cases in the past. The authorities are currently investigating the CCTV footage and gathering more details about the car involved in the incident.

The police are reviewing the CCTV footage and gathering more information about the car and its occupants. The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the need for stricter measures to prevent such accidents in the future.

</excerpt>

A 17-year-old was arrested on Thursday for allegedly murdering Dr. Javed Akhtar, a 55-year-old doctor, inside his private nursing home in southeast Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj area. The incident occurred the day before, when the minor, along with a teenage friend who is currently on the run, visited Nima Hospital for first-aid treatment. Dr. Akhtar, a practitioner of Unani medicine, was shot dead during the visit.

Reason Behind the Murder

According to sources, the accused claimed that he killed the doctor because he believed Dr. Akhtar had overcharged for the treatment. Following the murder, the teenager posted a picture of himself on social media with the caption, “Kar diya 2024 mein murder” (Finally committed murder in 2024).

Police Investigation and Evidence

The police have recovered the weapon used in the crime and are currently searching for the second teenager involved. Both boys lived in the same locality. Additionally, a female nurse and her husband are being questioned in connection with the case.

Details of the Incident

Hospital staff reported that the two boys arrived late Wednesday night, requesting treatment for an injured toe. One of the teenagers had been treated at the hospital the night before. After his dressing was done, the boys asked for a prescription and went to Dr. Akhtar’s cabin. Minutes later, the nursing staff, Gajala Parveen and Md Kamil, heard a gunshot and found the doctor bleeding from his head.

Context of Violence Against Doctors

This incident follows a shocking case in Kolkata less than two months ago, where a doctor on night duty was raped and murdered at a state-run hospital. That crime led to widespread protests across the country, with healthcare workers demanding better safety measures for medical staff on duty.

</excerpt>

A man was arrested for allegedly smuggling 65 kg of illegal firecrackers into the national capital ahead of Diwali, according to police reports on Sunday. The suspect, identified as Rohit, was apprehended while transporting the firecrackers from Ghaziabad in a car.

Details of the Arrest

On the night of September 20-21, a police patrol team from Nihal Vihar Police Station was conducting crime prevention duties when they noticed a suspicious black car approaching Sunday Bazar near Chander Vihar. At approximately 3:15 AM, officers signaled the vehicle to stop and subsequently searched it, discovering four plastic bags filled with firecrackers on the rear and middle seats.

When questioned, Rohit could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the firecrackers, while two other occupants of the car managed to escape. Those individuals have been identified as Vinit and Babloo.

Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation

Rohit was arrested, and a case has been registered under sections 288/125/3(5) BNS and 9(B) of the Explosives Act, 1984, at Nihal Vihar Police Station. The vehicle used for the illegal transport was also seized, and investigations are ongoing.

Government Crackdown on Firecrackers

In an effort to combat air pollution, the Delhi government has imposed a complete ban on the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers in the national capital, effective until January 1, 2025. This includes restrictions on online sales and delivery of firecrackers. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai stated that the government is implementing a 21-point Winter Action Plan, which includes the use of drones for real-time air quality monitoring at pollution hotspots.

</excerpt>

Delhi’s Karkardooma Court has acquitted Golu, the accused in a 2019 acid attack case, citing contradictions in the versions of the offense and offender, a delay in the registration of the FIR, and inconclusive medical reports. The case, registered at the Patparganj Industrial Area Police Station, involved the death of the victim.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Subhash Kumar Mishra delivered the verdict, granting Golu the benefit of the doubt. “The prosecution has failed to prove its case due to contradictory versions regarding the offense, delayed FIR registration, and the medical reports,” stated ASJ Mishra in the judgment dated September 10.

The court emphasized the lack of a reasonable explanation for the delayed FIR, and noted inconsistencies in the victim’s statements. The victim had initially informed the doctor and police at the hospital of a different sequence of events, claiming he had been assaulted by multiple individuals and set on fire, differing from his later statement where he accused Golu of pouring acid on him.

Further, the medical reports from GTB Hospital recorded that the victim suffered injuries after being attacked and set on fire by 5-6 individuals on September 25, 2019. This contradicted the victim’s account, where he did not mention being set on fire. “This contradiction further deepens the cloud of doubt in the case of the prosecution,” the court observed.

Additionally, Dr. Vinod Kumar KN of Lady Hardinge Medical College submitted a report indicating that the cause of death remained uncertain, with the burn area covering less than 9% of the body. The court noted that it could not be definitively stated that the victim died due to the alleged burn injuries, as the wound region appeared healthy.

The court pointed out that except for the victim’s statement, no other witness had observed the incident, and the FIR was filed with considerable delay. “Even the victim’s brother, despite being informed of the incident, did not report it to the police,” the court added.

The court highlighted further discrepancies, noting that the victim had provided different versions of the incident to the doctor and in his complaint. One medical document stated the victim claimed he was set on fire, while another mentioned acid being poured on him.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred a few days before October 23, 2019, when the victim and Golu visited a closed wine shop. During their return, an altercation occurred, during which Golu allegedly poured acid on the victim. However, due to the inconsistencies and the nature of the evidence presented, the court acquitted Golu.

</excerpt>

Former Deputy Chief Minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who was released from Tihar Jail today, credited Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution for his release and expressed confidence that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will also be released soon.

In a speech to party workers following his release, Sisodia said, “I have come out of jail due to your love, God’s blessings, and the power of truth. Most importantly, it’s the dream of Babasaheb that if any dictatorial government puts Opposition leaders behind bars using oppressive laws, the Constitution will protect them. I assure you that with the power of the Constitution, Arvind Kejriwal will also be released.”

Sisodia had been in jail for nearly 18 months without a trial. Upon his release, he cheered, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai! Inquilab Zindabad!”

He added, “Since the order came this morning, I have felt deeply indebted to Babasaheb. I don’t know how I can repay this debt.”

Sisodia also greeted party leaders and workers who had gathered outside Tihar Jail to welcome him.

The Supreme Court granted bail to Sisodia on Friday in the excise policy irregularities case. The bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan issued the order, which includes conditions such as surrendering his passport and not influencing witnesses. During the hearing, Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju raised concerns about potential witness tampering.

Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in February 2023 for alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy. The policy was withdrawn amid allegations of misconduct. According to the CBI, Sisodia played a central role in the alleged conspiracy and was heavily involved in both the formulation and implementation of the policy to achieve its objectives.

</excerpt>

In a significant development, the Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest by the CBI in the Excise Policy case. The court also denied his bail application in the same matter.

The bench of Justices Neena Bansal Krishna upheld the legality of Kejriwal’s arrest, stating that it was based on justifiable grounds. The court’s decision comes after a series of hearings where both the Delhi government and the CBI presented their arguments.

Kejriwal’s legal team had contended that the arrest was an “insurance arrest” without sufficient evidence and sought to highlight the alleged political nature of the case. However, the CBI maintained that Kejriwal was the “sutradhar” of the excise policy scam and presented evidence to support their claims.

The court’s decision is likely to have far-reaching implications for the ongoing political and legal battle surrounding the Excise Policy case.

On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Delhi Industries Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj met with representatives from factory owner associations across 27 different industrial areas at the Delhi Secretariat to discuss the initiative.

During the meeting with trade organisations, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj emphasised that the Delhi government is committed to the development and maintenance of 27 unplanned industrial areas. He noted that the government has been collaborating with trade organisations for a long time to improve these areas and has introduced a scheme for their revamp. Under this scheme, the Delhi government will cover 90% of the costs associated with the layout plan for the development, while factory owners will contribute the remaining 10%. This arrangement ensures shared responsibility between the government and trade organisations in these industrial areas, he added.
During the meeting, Brijesh Goyal, Chairman of CTI, an apex organisation of traders and entrepreneurs, requested the minister, on behalf of all trade organisations, to consider reducing the high fees for MCD map approvals in the 27 unplanned industrial areas. Goyal pointed out that Delhi has 29 authorised industrial areas and 27 unplanned ones. Factory owners from these unplanned areas have asked the government to include the cost of MCD map approvals under the new scheme. Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj agreed to this request and instructed officials to formulate a policy aligning map approval fees with the government’s scheme.

Vijay Virmani, President of the Delhi Manufacturing Federation, praised the Delhi government’s new scheme during the meeting. He remarked that this is the first time in 30 years that a government has shown genuine concern for traders’ issues. Virmani highlighted that small factories in industrial areas such as Dabri, Khayala, Nangli Sakravati, Nawada, Peeragarhi, Rithala, Haiderpur, Karawal Nagar, Shalimar Village, Samaypur Badli, and Tikri Kalan are run by middle-class traders, providing employment to thousands and supporting the livelihoods of countless families. He commended the Kejriwal government’s initiative as a significant step towards improving the lives of these traders and their families. Virmani added that the development of these industrial areas would not only benefit the trader community but also boost industries, create new job opportunities, and enhance Delhi’s economy.

</excerpt>

In Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, a fire erupted at a women’s paying guest facility, leading to the rescue of 35 individuals, including a four-year-old girl. Local residents, in addition to firefighters, played a crucial role in the rescue effort by forcibly opening the facility’s door and saving people amidst the intense blaze. Fortunately, this daring rescue operation resulted in no casualties.

According to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the fire originated from an electrical meter located in the stilt area, where old furniture and a rickshaw were stored, as revealed during an initial investigation.

Mukherjee Nagar, situated 3.5 kilometers from Delhi University, serves as a prominent area for student paying guest accommodations and coaching centers.

Footage from the scene depicted smoke and flames initially emerging on the ground floor and subsequently spreading to the three floors above. Although the fire department dispatched 20 fire tenders to the scene, only eight were able to reach due to traffic congestion and narrow lanes.

Promptly responding to the fire, vigilant residents gathered around the building and decided to rescue those trapped inside. A video captured individuals breaking open the locked door of the paying guest facility from the inside.

The rescue efforts faced challenges due to the building having just one staircase. Post-fire photographs released by authorities showcased the charred interiors, including the damaged staircase. The Delhi Police has filed charges against the owner of the paying guest facility.

The court while passing the interim order stated that a prima facie case has been made out in favor of the plaintiffs.

The BJP leader and his son approached the High Court and filed a civil suit stating that the statements made by the Defendants Saurabh Bharadwaj, Durgesh Pathak, Sanjay Singh and Dilip Pandey against the Plaintiffs, in a series of press conferences held on January 22 which are ex facie false and unsubstantiated, per se defamatory, slanderous and libellous.

The aforesaid series of press conferences deliberately coincided with certain political events in Delhi and were carried out through a media blitzkrieg to cause irreversible damage to the reputation of the Plaintiffs.

The suit also stated that it also caused irrevocable harm to the personal, professional and mental well-being of the Plaintiffs. The bench of Justice Navin Chawla on Friday asked the AAP leaders to remove the defamatory content and to desist from making future statements against the Plaintiffs.

A petitioner Sharad Kapoor, who is associated with BJP, and who also contested the MCD councillor election went before the HC through a plea stating that the Mayor has betrayed the mandate of the Constitution.

He claimed that the Mayor betrayed as he allowed mobile phones and pens in the election proceedings of the 6 members of the standing committee despite the mobile phones and pens being explicitly barred in the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

The plea further stated that the Municipal Secretary has explicitly said that the elections can not be conducted as there are only 245 ballot papers, which are short as they required around 250 ballot papers. The Bench of Justice Purushainder Kumar Kaurav listed the matter for February 27, 2023.

Amid heavy chaos and sloganeering, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi house was adjourned for the 5th time after resuming early on Thursday morning, after AAP and BJP councillors continued to clash with each other. The MCD house faced repeated disruptions amid the heavy sloganeering and chaos.

According to the visuals, the situation become so chaotic that the Councillors started throwing ballot boxes while some were captured pushing others and exchanging blows. The chaos emerged during the election for the members of standing committee when BJP members alleged that during the secret voting, the Councillors were taking photographs of the ballots through their mobile, which is a violation of the secret ballot.

As a result, BJP members demanded for a fresh elections. When the house was adjourned, AAP leader, Saurabh Bharadwaj hit out against BJP and said, “BJP councillors are trying to postpone the standing committee polls. Supreme Court had clearly said that all elections should happen in the first sitting. So, we want the elections today only, whether it happens at night or in the morning.”

“BJP deliberately wants to conduct the whole election of standing committee again. In this way, the process will never end. The MCD Secretary has also said that they only have 245 ballots, and we can’t conduct the whole election again,” he added. Hitting back at the AAP, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla called it an “Anarchist Acrimonious Party”.

“AAP = Anarchist Acrimonious Party. Fearing defeat and cross-voting; you engineer every attempt to sabotage and steamroll rules and laws! Then play the victim card! If this is how affairs will be conducted on Day 1 by the Mayor people of Delhi better brace themselves,” Poonawalla said on Twitter.
