Matthew Perry was found dead at his residence on October 28, 2024, at the age of 54. According to ‘Variety’, toxicology reports indicated that Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine at his Los Angeles home, and his death was ruled an accident. Other contributing factors included drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine, a medication used to treat opioid use disorder.

In 2024, the DEA and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) launched an investigation into the source of the drugs that led to Perry’s death. In August, five individuals were arrested, including Perry’s assistant, several doctors, and Jasveen Sangha, a significant drug supplier known as the “Ketamine Queen.” A trial for Sangha and one of the doctors is scheduled for March 2025.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Honors Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Death Anniversary

On Friday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid floral tribute to the statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Chief Minister’s residence, marking the anniversary of Vajpayee’s death. CM Dhami shared the moment on X, stating, “Paid tribute to the former Prime Minister and our source of inspiration, respected Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, who infused Indian politics with his democratic values, on his death anniversary at the Government Residence.”

Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, accompanied by Deputy CMs Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya, also paid tribute to Vajpayee in Lucknow. CM Adityanath remarked, “Today marks the sixth death anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. On this occasion, on behalf of the people of Uttar Pradesh and the state government, we honor his memory. Vajpayee’s ancestral village is in Bateshwar, Agra, and he completed his higher studies in Kanpur before joining the RSS and establishing himself as a writer and poet.”

In Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar attended a prayer meeting at ‘Sadaiv Atal,’ Vajpayee’s memorial, to pay their respects. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and other cabinet members also participated in the tribute.

Union Minister Amit Shah praised Vajpayee, highlighting his role in strengthening the country both strategically and economically during his tenure as Prime Minister.

Born in Gwalior in 1924, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a prominent figure in Indian politics and the BJP, becoming the first non-Congress Prime Minister to serve a full term. He served as Prime Minister from May 16, 1996, to June 1, 1996, and again from March 19, 1998, to May 22, 2004. He was also India’s External Affairs Minister under Prime Minister Morarji Desai from 1977 to 1979. Vajpayee passed away at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi on August 16, 2018.

Lata Mangeshkar, born in 1929 to Marathi classical singer and actor Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar and his Gujarati wife Shevanti in Indore, had harbored dreams of becoming a singer since childhood. J P Nadda, national president of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) paid homage to B R Ambedkar, the man behind the drafting of the Indian constitution, on the occasion of the 66th ‘Mahaparinirvan Diwas’ at BJP headquarters in New Delhi.

“I bow to Bhimrao Ambedkar on his death anniversary. The national unity and social harmony shaped by your contribution to the making of the Indian Constitution are still flowing in the entire society. Your dedicated life for the poor and downtrodden is always our inspiration,”J P Nadda tweeted. Many leaders of the party joined J P at the headquarters.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar at the Parliamentary premises.

Babasaheb Ambedkar, an Indian lawyer, economist, politician, and social reformer, was born on April 14, 1891. He advocated for workers’ and women’s rights as well as against societal discrimination against the untouchables (Dalits). On December 6, 1956, he perished.
Ambedkar received the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 1990.
