IPL 2024: DC Keep Playoffs Hope Alive With 20-run Win Over Rajasthan Royals

May 7, 2024, 11:53 pm

IPL 2024: In a pivotal match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Kuldeep Yadav’s impactful 17th over and Mukesh Kumar’s timely wickets propelled Delhi Capitals (DC) to a 20-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR), keeping DC’s playoff hopes alive. Kuldeep’s remarkable over, conceding only four runs and taking two wickets, turned the game in DC’s favor. This allowed them to capitalize on the final overs and secure a crucial win.

Despite Rajasthan’s aggressive start in the chase of 222, with Jos Buttler joining as an impact substitute, they struggled against DC’s bowling attack. Sanju Samson’s aggressive innings of 86 runs was not enough to secure victory for Rajasthan. Mukesh Kumar’s crucial wickets, including that of Samson, sealed the win for DC. The victory was significant for DC’s playoff aspirations, bolstering their position in the league standings.

Earlier, DC put up a formidable total of 221/8, with Abhishek Porel’s explosive knock of 63 and Jake Fraser McGurk’s brisk 50 setting the tone for their innings. Ravichandran Ashwin emerged as the standout bowler for Rajasthan, claiming 3 wickets for 24 runs. Overall, DC’s dominant performance secured them a crucial win in the IPL encounter against Rajasthan Royals, showcasing their resilience and determination in the tournament.

IPL 2024: Phil Salt’s Thunderous Fifty Powers KKR to 7-wicket Win Over DC

April 30, 2024, 4:26 am

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clinched a resounding 7-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in their thrilling encounter at the iconic Eden Gardens during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match.

Spearheaded by Varun Chakaravarthy’s impeccable three-wicket haul and Phil Salt’s commanding half-century, KKR displayed a dominant performance. The chase of 154 runs posed little challenge for KKR’s batters, who efficiently chased down the target in just 16.3 overs, with Salt’s explosive innings of 68 runs off 33 balls leading the charge.

Despite Axar Patel’s commendable spin bowling efforts, DC struggled to defend their total. KKR’s opening pair of Sunil Narine and Salt laid a solid foundation, with Salt’s early escape proving pivotal. Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer then steered KKR to victory with composed batting performances.

Earlier, KKR’s spin duo, spearheaded by Chakravarthy, effectively stifled DC’s batting lineup, restricting them to a modest total of 153/9. Despite Kuldeep Yadav’s late cameo, DC failed to gain momentum, as KKR’s disciplined bowling and strategic decisions paid dividends.

IPL 2024: KKR Opener Phil Salt Broke This Record of Former India Legend Sourav Ganguly

April 30, 2024, 1:49 am

Philip Salt, the opening batsman for Kolkata Knight Riders, set a new record by surpassing former franchise captain Sourav Ganguly’s longstanding achievement. Salt’s explosive innings of 68 runs led the Knights to a convincing 7-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024.

This remarkable performance boosted his total runs for the season to 344 in six innings, eclipsing Ganguly’s previous record for most runs scored at Eden Gardens in a single IPL season. Salt’s feat establishes him as the highest run-scorer in a single season at Eden Gardens, surpassing Ganguly’s tally of 331 runs set in 2010, which had stood for 14 years.

Despite Andre Russell’s close attempt in 2019 with 311 runs in 7 innings, Salt’s exceptional batting ensured an easy chase for KKR, sealing their win with seven wickets in hand. His aggressive approach during the powerplay laid the groundwork for KKR’s successful pursuit, as he smashed 68 runs off 33 balls at a staggering strike rate of 206.06, featuring seven boundaries and five sixes.

Following Salt’s dismissal, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer cautiously guided KKR to victory with over three overs to spare. With this triumph, KKR solidified their position at second place on the IPL 2024 points table with 12 points, while Delhi Capitals slipped to sixth position, also with 12 points.

April 30, 2024, 12:01 am

During the recent encounter between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals in the IPL, Shah Rukh Khan, one of the co-owners of KKR, took a moment to convey a deeply heartfelt message to Rishabh Pant, reflecting on the tragic car accident Pant endured back in 2022.

Khan opened up about his initial shock upon hearing about the incident and the subsequent relief he felt upon witnessing Pant’s remarkable resurgence during IPL 2024. He underscored the profound emotional attachment he shares with the players, likening them to his own children, and extended his heartfelt wishes for Pant’s swift and complete recovery. Additionally, Khan lauded Pant’s remarkable resilience in bouncing back to top form.

Furthermore, their warm and genuine exchange at Vizag, where Khan personally congratulated Pant and they shared a warm embrace, was highlighted as a touching and memorable moment in the history of the IPL, symbolizing the camaraderie and mutual respect between players and team owners.

IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians Wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan Reprimanded

April 28, 2024, 1:49 pm

Mumbai Indians’ wicketkeeper-batsman, Ishan Kishan, was reprimanded and fined 10% of his match fees for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during their IPL 2024 fixture against Delhi Capitals at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

Kishan was found guilty of a Level 1 offence according to Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He acknowledged the violation and accepted the penalties imposed by the Match Referee. The decision of the Match Referee for Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct is deemed conclusive and obligatory.

Article 2.2 encompasses any conduct beyond typical cricket actions, such as striking or kicking the stumps, as well as any actions that intentionally, recklessly, or negligently (even if accidental) cause damage to advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows, and other infrastructure. It also covers the misuse or abuse of cricket equipment, attire, ground equipment, or fixtures during a match. Although the specific offense committed by Kishan was not specified by the IPL organizers, it fell under the provisions outlined in Article 2.2.

In the game, Jake Fraser-McGurk’s commanding innings, supported by the formidable pace attack of Rasikh Dar Salam, Mukesh Kumar, and Khaleel Ahmed, led Delhi Capitals (DC) to a 10-run victory over Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2024 encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

Rasikh emerged as the standout performer for the home team, making a significant impact as a substitute and claiming figures of 3 for 34 in a high-scoring encounter, while Mukesh also contributed with a three-wicket haul. Meanwhile, for Mumbai Indians (MI), Tilak Varma showcased his batting prowess with a score of 63 runs, while skipper Hardik Pandya added 46 runs to the team’s total.

Mumbai’s chase began aggressively with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan confidently finding boundaries. In the second over, Khaleel Ahmed faced the brunt of their onslaught, conceding 14 runs, including three consecutive boundaries from Kishan.

However, Khaleel provided Delhi Capitals (DC) with their breakthrough by dismissing Rohit Sharma for 8 runs. Rohit attempted to hit a boundary but mistimed his shot, resulting in the ball going straight into the hands of Shai Hope at mid-off.

In the fifth over, Mukesh Kumar made an impressive entry into the action by claiming the crucial wicket of Kishan for 20 runs. Khaleel Ahmed secured his second dismissal by removing the formidable Suryakumar Yadav for 26. Surya elegantly placed a shot towards mid-off, but Lizaad Williams intervened with a superb catch.

Following the loss of three wickets in quick succession, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma began their partnership cautiously yet with a touch of aggression. The pair confidently scored 10 runs off Axar Patel’s over, highlighted by a remarkable six from Pandya. Pandya, displaying excellent form, then dominated Kuldeep Yadav in the 9th over, smashing three boundaries and a six to accumulate 19 runs.

The Delhi Capitals Academy, established with the aim of nurturing cricketing talent, boasts centers across India. Yash Dhull and Anuj Rawat, two standout talents from the academy, are currently making their mark in the IPL.

Despite a setback in their previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where they lost by 67 runs, the Delhi-based franchise remains determined. Presently, they occupy the eighth position on the IPL 2024 table with six points, having won three out of eight games.

IPL 2024: SRH Overcome McGurk Scare to Hand Delhi Capitals a 67-Runs Loss

April 21, 2024, 12:07 am

IPL 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) put up a strong performance against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Arun Jaitley Stadium, clinching a 67-run victory despite a challenging display from Jake Fraser McGurk. With this win, SRH climbed to second place with five wins and two losses, accumulating 10 points, while DC languished at seventh with three wins, five losses, and six points.

In pursuit of 267 runs, Prithvi Shaw’s aggressive start for DC was short-lived as he fell to Abdul Samad after scoring 16 runs off just 5 balls. Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed David Warner early, leaving DC at 25/2 in 2 overs. Jake Fraser McGurk’s explosive batting propelled DC to the 50-run mark in just three overs, supported by Abhishek Porel.

McGurk’s onslaught continued, reaching his fifty in just 15 balls with five fours and five sixes before being dismissed for 65 off 18 balls. Despite contributions from Abhishek and Tristan Stubbs, DC struggled to maintain momentum, finishing at 199/9 in 19.1 overs.

Earlier, SRH set a formidable total of 266/7, powered by a scintillating century partnership between openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. Head’s blistering knock of 89 runs off 32 balls and Abhishek’s quickfire 46 off 12 balls laid the foundation for SRH’s commanding total.

Kuldeep Yadav was the standout bowler for DC, claiming four wickets for 55 runs, but it wasn’t enough to stop SRH’s batting onslaught. T Natrajan’s impressive bowling spell of 4/19 played a pivotal role in securing SRH’s victory.

DC Breaks LSG’s Massive Record

April 13, 2024, 12:21 am

Delhi Capitals secured a significant victory by defeating Lucknow Super Giants with six wickets, marking a historic moment as LSG couldn’t defend a target exceeding 160 on their home ground for the first time in an Indian Premier League match at Ekana Cricket Stadium. This win propelled Delhi Capitals from the bottom of the table to the ninth position after comfortably chasing down 168 runs with eleven balls remaining.

Despite a late surge from Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan, who contributed to a competitive total for LSG, DC, led by debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk and captain Rishabh Pant, responded effectively. Despite a shaky start with David Warner’s dismissal, Fraser-McGurk and Prithvi Shaw’s partnership in the powerplay lifted Delhi’s spirits.

Although LSG struck back with Shaw’s dismissal, Fraser-McGurk’s resilient batting, complemented by Pant’s aggressive approach, ensured DC’s victory. LSG faced early setbacks with Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal’s dismissals, but KL Rahul’s aggressive innings provided some resistance.

However, Kuldeep Yadav’s three-wicket haul and effective bowling from other DC bowlers limited LSG to 167/7. In response, DC’s solid batting performance, led by Fraser-McGurk and Pant, guided them to victory with a score of 170/4.
