Police seize over 95,000 bottles of cough syrup worth crores, 2 held

Over 95,000 bottles of cough syrup totaling millions of rupees in value were confiscated by the Karimganj Police in Assam on Wednesday. Bhabesh Kumar and Saminur Islam were taken into custody in connection with the case. Police found and seized the aforementioned amount of cough syrup from three trucks, according to Churaibari police watch post officer Pranab Mili. A crew from the Karimganj district police stopped the trucks in the Churaibari region near the Assam-Tripura border after receiving a tip.

“We have intercepted three trucks at the Churaibari check gate and recovered 95,360 bottles of cough syrup. We have also apprehended two persons. Further investigation is on,” Pranab Mili said.Earlier in May this year, Karimganj police apprehended three persons and seized 33,000 bottles of cough syrup worth around Rs 2 crore from a truck along the Assam-Tripura border, said the police.

Wedding bus crash : 10 killed in Australia, driver arrested

According to authorities, the 58-year-old driver of the wedding party bus was detained after an accident that left up to 10 people dead in Australia’s Hunter wine region, north of Sydney.

Images on television showed the white coach, which was carrying guests to a neighbouring winery wedding, laying on its side after toppling late on Sunday night.Twelve emergency personnel were present, their cars’ coloured lights blazing in the foggy night, and they were all wearing high visibility yellow vests.

Multiple casualties are expected to rise after a bus crash in which 25 passengers were rushed to the hospital, two of whom were airlifted. The bus remains overturned with potential trapped individuals underneath. No children were involved. The coach driver underwent testing and is currently held at a nearby police station. Investigations into the accident are underway by New South Wales Police.

Shahbad Dairy murder : Delhi court extends Sahil’s police custody for 3 days

The custody of Sahil, the accused in the brutal murder of a minor girl in Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy area, has been extended for an additional three days by the Rohini Court. Following the completion of two days of police custody, Sahil was presented at the judge’s residence on Thursday morning for security purposes. Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Nidhi Chitkara granted the extension after considering the arguments put forth by the Delhi police.
On Monday, the parents of the deceased minor girl who was stabbed brutally in Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy area demanded the death penalty for the accused Sahil.
“We want the death penalty for him (Sahil). Life for life. The way my daughter is gone, he should also be gone,” the mother of the deceased.

The father of the 16-year-old girl said, “The way he brutally killed my daughter he should get the death penalty. I don’t want anything from anyone my only demand is that he (Sahil) should be punished,””I work as a labourer, and I have only two children, the first one was her and a small boy, I just want that he should be punished severely,” he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Delhi’s Rohini Court had sent Sahil to two-day police custody.
Delhi Police had sought the remand of Sahil on the ground that the weapon used for the murder was not recovered yet and he was changing his versions continuously which needs to be verified.Sources stated that Sahil fled the city after the murder and switched off his phone. He reached Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh after changing two buses. Delhi Police arrested him on Monday from Bulandshahr.According to police sources, after committing the murder, Sahil dumped his weapon in Rithala before fleeing to Bulandshahr.

PM Modi should follow Constitution, says Manish Sisodia

Manish Sisodia, a former deputy chief minister of Delhi, suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi adhere to the Constitution on Friday. In Rouse Avenue, he was replying to inquiries from the press over the Supreme Court’s ruling regarding the authority of the Delhi Government.Manis Sisodia’s judicial detention was extended by the Rouse Avenue Court on Friday until June 2. The CBI charge sheet has also been retained by the court for future reference. The court has also prolonged Amdandeep Dhall’s legal custody. On Thursday, the Delhi High Court postponed making a decision about Manish Sisodia’s request for bail in the CBI case.

Prima facie it seems the agency is saying that further investigation regarding me is required/pending. Therefore, we reserve the right to file an application for statutory bail.

Court had asked the CBI why they have not mentioned that investigation qua Sisodia has been completed. You say you have filed a supplementary chargesheet (in the stipulated time), but you have said the investigation is pending in the case. Why have you not mentioned that the chargesheet is filed on completion of the investigation against Sisodia?

Court had said, Sisodia’s counsel’s submission noted that a copy of the chargesheet is required by them to see whether the investigation of Sisodia is complete. The court states that though this is not the stage to supply a copy of the chargesheet, an e-copy of the same is directed to be submitted to him.

After Atiq’s point blank killing, Centre now mulls SOPs for safety of journalists

Taking cognisance of the killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj last night, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the safety and security of journalists, top sources said on Sunday.

According to the source, the action has been conducted with the approval of Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the murders of Atiq and Ashraf in Prayagraj by three assailants acting as journalists. On Saturday night, Atiq and Ashraf were shot dead in Prayagraj under the spotlight of the media.
The attackers who attacked the jailed criminal and his brother pretended to be journalists at the crime site, according to the Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday.

“The shooters were posing as journalists. As Atiq reached for a check-up, they were surrounded by other journalists and got close to Atiq and his brother. One was having a camera and was posing as a cameraman. Another was roaming around with a mike on which were inscribed the words NCR News. The third was assisting both,” a police source said.

“As Atiq reached the hospital, reporters started questioning them after 2 lines, one guy fired on his head from very close and Atiq fell down. Another two guys also threw the camera and mike and started firing,” the source added.

Atiq Ahmed was accused in the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case and also in the Umesh Pal murder case in February this year.The shooting that occurred around 10 pm and was caught on camera as media persons were following the handcuffed duo, who were being taken to the hospital by police for a medical checkup.

Papalpreet Singh, an aide to Amitpal was sent to the Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam

Papalpreet Singh, a close associate of the wanted Khalistan leader, was detained by Punjab Police for a day before being sent to Assam’s Dibrugarh Central Jail on Tuesday.

On Monday, Papalpreet was taken into custody in Amritsar’s Kathu Nangal locality. The arrest of Amritpal’s close aide was announced to the media by Sukhchain Singh Gill, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Headquarters for Punjab. He added that Papalpreet was held in compliance with the National Security Act. (NSA).

“Papalpreet Singh, the main associate of Amritpal Singh was arrested by Amritsar Rural Police from the Kathu Nangal area. The arrest was made under the National Security Act. Apart from being an associate of Amritpal, he was also wanted in six cases,” Gill said, adding that action against him will be taken as per the law.

Papalpreet was seen with the fugitive Khalistan leader in several photographs that surfaced after the duo escaped the dragnet cast for them by the state police.
In an unverified video on March 30, the ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief said he was not “a fugitive” and would soon “appear in front of the world”.

Further, in the video, the veracity of which could not be determined, Amritpal said those who think he ran away from his people or friends should “get that thing” out of their minds.Earlier, on March 18, Punjab Police launched an operation against Amritpal and his aides.

The Punjab Police had earlier, expressed doubts about Amritpal entering the Delhi border using any vehicle other than a bus. Following the input, Delhi Police raised an alert and stepped up efforts to track the fugitive radical preacher.
Amritpal has been on the run since March 18, the day Punjab Police launched a massive manhunt for him.The crackdown came almost over three weeks after Amritpal’s supporters stormed Ajnala police station in Amritsar on February 23, demanding the release of one of his aides, Lovepreet Toofan.

Judicial custody of 4 accused extended till 7 January

In the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam money Laundering case on Monday the custody of businessmen Sharath Reddy, Binoy Babu, Vijay Nair, and Abhishek Boinpally has been extended till 7 January 2023.

Meanwhile, while extending judicial custody of all the accused the court noted that the bail petitions of all the accused are pending in the court.

The special public prosecutor is in the process to fill out the supplementary chargesheet till 5 January 2023 against all arrested accused.

Earlier, in an alleged Delhi, Excise Policy scam money Laundering case the Enforcement Directorate (ED) informed the court that there will be a common chargesheet against all arrested accused.

Moreover, in a money laundering case revolving around an excise policy case, ED filed its chargesheet in November against the Businessman Sameer Mahendru and some entities.

However, on a recommendation from Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, the FIR was filed on a reference from the Union Home Ministry.

In the Tunisha Sharma death case the police custody of Sheezan has been extended for two more days that is till 30.

Meanwhile, the ground for increasing police custody has yet not been ascertained. The deleted WhatsApp chat has also been retrieved.

Moreover, the police in the court said that for one-and-a-half-hour on the day of Tunisha’s death Sheezan and his secret girlfriend had a conversation.

After this, it is assumed that Tunisha was angry with the conversation with the secret girlfriend.

Earlier in the day, the Waliv Police retrieved the WhatsApp chats and recordings between the accused Sheezan Khan and Tunisha on Wednesday.

In the text chats between the two, the police have not found anything objectionable and had regular conversations about food and well-being.

“Tunisha was upset with her breakup and was already suffering from anxiety because of which she felt lonely after the two parted ways,” the police said.

Against Tunisha’s anxiety issue police will interrogate her family and will also record her mother’s statement once again.

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old Tunisha committed suicide on 24 December in the washroom on the set of the television serial ‘Ali Baba Dastaan-E-Kabul’.

Earlier on Tuesday Actor Tunisha Sharma’s last rites were performed at Mira Road cremation ground in Mumbai and fans, family and members of the television and film industry bid a teary farewell.

However, on Sunday Sheezan was arrested on charges of abetment of suicide. Sheezan and Tunisha were in a relationship but broke up 15 days ago.

2 accused sent to police custody for harassing South Korean YouTuber in Mumbai

During live streaming, a South Korean woman was harassed and molested in which two accused were arrested and now they have been sent to one-day police custody on Thursday.

Earlier on Tuesday night two people molested and harassed the YouTuber who is a South Korean national. She was molested and harassed when she was Live Streaming from the Khar area of Mumbai.

Meanwhile, on social media, the incident has gone viral and the arrested accused have been identified as Mobeen Chand Mohd Shaikh of age 19, and Mohd Naqib Sadarialam Ansari age 20.

Under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) the case has been arrested by the Khar police after the video went viral.

“Mumbai Police’s Khar Police station has taken a Suo Moto action in an incident that happened with a Korean woman (foreigner) in the jurisdiction of Khar West. In this regard, both the accused have been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC,” Mumbai Police tweeted.

Moreover, in the viral video both the accused were seen forcing the Korean woman to sit in their car, and later one of the accused put his hand on her shoulder and tried to kiss her cheeks.

Taking to Twitter victim tweeted, “Last night on stream, there was a guy who harassed me. I tried my best not to escalate the situation and leave because he was with his friend. And some people said that it was initiated by me being too friendly and engaging in the conversation. Makes me think again about streaming.”

2 held with 8 kg heroin at Mumbai Airport

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has arrested two foreign nationals with 8 kg of heroin worth Rs 40 crores in the international market at Mumbai airport.

Earlier on Sunday, two foreign nationals were taken into custody by DRI with 8 kg of heroin.

Meanwhile, DRI received information that two foreign nationals had come to Mumbai to smuggle drugs.

Moreover, after taking them into custody, DRI interrogated the smugglers and also checked their luggage in which they found 4 kg of white powder, each of which was heroin.

Aaftab Poonawala has been placed in judicial custody; a narcotics test is expected on November 28

Aaftab Amin Poonawala, arrested in connection with the murder of his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar, was sentenced to 13 days in judicial custody by Delhi’s Saket court on Saturday after his police custody expired.

“The accused Aaftab has been sent to JC for 13 days. Police has initiated the legal process for the production of the accused for further proceedings in the Polygraph Test,”Sagar Preet Hooda, Special CP (Law & Order), Zone II, said.

Poonawala is expected to be subjected to a narcotics test on November 28, according to the news agency ANI on Saturday. The Delhi Police had previously stated that the DNA test report for the victim’s body had not been received.

“DNA test report (of victim’s body parts) has not been received by the police”, said Hooda.

Earlier on Friday, the Delhi Police confirmed that Aaftab’s polygraph test could not be completed.

Poonawala, 28, is accused of murdering Walkar, 27, and chopping her body into at least 35 pieces on May 18 at their Chhattarpur Pahadi flat. According to forensic experts familiar with the situation, he remained largely evasive while answering questions posed by interrogators during his polygraph test on Thursday.

On Thursday evening, Poonawala, who was arrested on November 12, was taken to Delhi’s forensic science laboratory (FSL) in Rohini for a polygraph test. Poonawala had undergone a nearly eight-hour polygraph test. However, because he was ill, officials at the facility found it difficult to record his statements.

“Poonawala remained confident and his body language was normal during the session,” an FSL official said on condition of anonymity. He appeared to be a bright individual with a sharp mind. He responded to the standard and irrelevant questions. However, when critical questions about the murder case were posed to him, he remained evasive or silent. He appeared to be well aware of the polygraph test procedure.”

Police officers brought Poonawala to the laboratory around 4 p.m., according to FSL assistant director Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, who heads the crime scene management and photo division, and he underwent the polygraph session, which lasted about two and a half hours. Around 7 p.m., the psychologist panel concluded the test and allowed Poonawala to leave.

“The experts will now analyse the data and see if they have got the desired results. In case they find that certain data could not be analysed and created doubts, the experts may call Poonawala again. The experts will give a nod for the narco-analysis test after they are satisfied with the polygraph test results,” said Gupta, adding that the FSL will remain open on Saturday and Sunday to conduct the narco test.

Meanwhile, the incident has taken a political turn, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah promising “strict punishment” to the accused in the shortest possible time, while the CPI(M) claims Walker’s murder and dismemberment by her Muslim boyfriend was used for “communal propaganda.”
