The incident unfolded after militants from the Kuki faction launched an attack on a CRPF camp in the region.

During the exchange of fire, a CRPF jawan sustained injuries and was immediately airlifted to a hospital for urgent medical care. Authorities have yet to confirm the exact number of casualties among the militants but indicated that the loss was significant.

Civilians Targeted Amid Ongoing Tensions

Earlier in the day, a farmer in Imphal East district was injured after militants fired from nearby hilltop positions. The attack marked the third consecutive day of hills-based militant aggression against farmers working in the fields of the Imphal Valley, exacerbating the ongoing ethnic conflict in the state.

Security forces swiftly responded, engaging the militants in a brief gunfight. The injured farmer was transported to Yaingangpokpi Primary Health Centre (PHC) for treatment and is reportedly out of danger, according to local authorities.

The recent violence follows a string of deadly incidents in the region. On Saturday, a 34-year-old woman farmer was shot dead while working in a paddy field in Saiton, Bishnupur district. The perpetrators were believed to be militants firing from hilltop positions in the Churachandpur district.

Similar attacks were reported on Sunday in Sanasabi, Sabungkhok Khunou, and Thamnapokpi areas of Imphal East district, further intensifying fears among the local farming community.

Rising Death Toll Amid Ethnic Violence

Since May last year, ethnic violence between the Meitei community, based primarily in the Imphal Valley, and the Kuki tribes from the surrounding hill regions, has resulted in over 200 deaths. The clashes have displaced thousands, leaving many without homes as the situation remains volatile across the state.

Security forces continue to maintain a heavy presence in affected areas, with efforts underway to de-escalate tensions and protect vulnerable civilians. However, the spate of attacks in recent days signals a worrying trend of escalating hostilities, particularly in rural and farming regions of Manipur.

</excerpt>

Late on Monday night, several Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) schools across the country received hoax bomb threats, raising concerns among authorities. The affected institutions include two schools in Delhi—one located in Rohini and the other in Dwarka—along with a school in Hyderabad.

Sources indicate that the threats were communicated via email to the management of these schools. The emails warned of a potential bomb blast in the classrooms at 11 AM on Tuesday. However, subsequent investigations have revealed the threats to be hoaxes.

Context of the Threats

The hoax threats emerged just a day after a blast occurred outside a CRPF school in Rohini, Delhi, on Sunday, which was claimed by a pro-Khalistani group. This incident has heightened security concerns in the capital. Following the blast in the Prashant Vihar school, which damaged nearby buildings and vehicles, Delhi Police contacted social media platforms and the messaging app Telegram to gather information about the post that made the threat.

Wider Implications for Security

This week has seen a rise in hoax bomb threats affecting both domestic and international flights, with over 90 flights reported to have received similar threats, most of which were later identified as false alarms. In response, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Director General RS Bhatti and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) Director General Zulfiqar Hasan met with Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan to discuss the series of threats and their implications for aviation security.

During their half-hour meeting, the officials underscored the importance of heightened vigilance and coordination among security agencies to address these ongoing security challenges effectively.

</excerpt>

Authorities in Delhi have launched an investigation into a possible Khalistani connection to the explosion that occurred outside the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school in Rohini on Sunday, October 20, according to the news agency PTI on Monday.

The probe into a Khalistani link began after a social media post claimed the blast was retaliation for the alleged targeting of pro-Khalistan separatists by Indian agents. In a message shared on Telegram, the pro-Khalistan group Justice League India stated, “If Indian coward agency and their master think they can hire filthy goons to target our members to silence our voice then they live in fools world. They can’t imagine how close we are to them and how capable we are to strike anytime.”

The explosion, which was reported to the Delhi police at approximately 7:47 am IST on Sunday, did not result in any injuries. However, it caused damage to the school building, shattered the glass windows of nearby shops, and harmed a car parked in the vicinity. A foul smell was also detected at the site where the school wall had been damaged.

“Fortunately, no one was injured,” stated the police. Initial findings suggested that the explosive material resembled a crude bomb. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and checking the sewer line in the area to gather more information about the type of blast.

Specialized teams from the National Security Guard (NSG), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were also deployed to the location for further inspection.

In response to the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi criticized the central government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), over its handling of security matters in the capital. “The incident of a bomb blast outside a school in Rohini is exposing the crumbling security system of Delhi. The responsibility of law and order in Delhi lies with the BJP’s central government. But the BJP, leaving this work, spends all its time obstructing the work of the elected government of Delhi,” Atishi expressed in a post on X.

She further added, “This is the reason why the situation in Delhi today is like the Mumbai underworld era of the 1990s. Bullets are being fired openly in the city, gangsters are extorting money, and the morale of criminals is high.”

</excerpt>

Amidst their duties far from home, CRPF jawans stationed at Srinagar Airport in Jammu and Kashmir celebrated Raksha Bandhan, a festival honoring the bond between brothers and sisters. Despite the distance from their families, the soldiers of the 35th Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) came together to mark this special occasion.
The celebration featured the traditional tying of rakhi threads, which symbolize the promise of protection and affection between siblings. The jawans participated in the ritual by exchanging sweets and gifts, sharing the joy of the festival even while remaining on duty. This act of togetherness and festive spirit offered a moment of respite from their demanding responsibilities.
Commandant Vishnu Dwiwedi of the 35th Battalion CRPF at Srinagar Airport expressed the significance of the occasion, stating, “Today the nation celebrates the sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan. Sisters tie rakhi to their brothers, who pledge to protect them in return.” He emphasized that both the CRPF jawans and their families stationed at the airport were observing the festival, renewing their commitment to safeguarding the nation.
This celebration exemplified the resilience and unity among the jawans, who demonstrated their dedication to their duties despite being away from their loved ones. Raksha Bandhan served as a reminder of the strong bonds among the soldiers, who form a close-knit family ready to support one another in challenging times.
Priyanka Yadav, who participated in the celebration, explained, “We have come here to tie rakhi to the security personnel because they are away from their families. We wanted to bring them some happiness and are enjoying this moment with them.”
The festival, known as Rakhi, is a traditional Hindu celebration that underscores the love and commitment between brothers and sisters. On Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie rakhi around their brothers’ wrists, while brothers offer gifts as a sign of their love and care. This festival, rooted deeply in Indian culture, has been observed for centuries and is highlighted in Hindu religious texts as a symbol of protective bonds.
Despite the geographical and emotional distances, the Raksha Bandhan celebration among the CRPF jawans at Srinagar Airport illustrated their enduring spirit and mutual support, reinforcing their dedication to protecting peace and security.

</excerpt>

Before the Lok Sabha elections, the Central government has reportedly granted Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar ‘Z’ category Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) security cover nationwide, according to sources. The decision to enhance Kumar’s security was prompted by international threats, as per the sources.

Following recent threat evaluations from the Intelligence Bureau, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) opted to increase Kumar’s security detail. CRPF commandos will soon assume responsibility for his security arrangements. This heightened security coverage will accompany Kumar during his travels throughout the country, including constant protection during his time in Delhi and at his office. A team of over thirty armed CRPF commandos will be assigned to guard him.

As the guardian of free and fair elections, Rajiv Kumar confronts various challenges and adversaries, especially with the general elections scheduled between April 19 and June 1. The decision to extend ‘Z’ category security to Kumar nationwide was made by the MHA, considering his anticipated nationwide travels during the implementation of the model code of conduct. Despite this, Kumar’s unwavering dedication to upholding the integrity of the electoral process remains steadfast. His relentless efforts to protect the democratic rights of citizens have garnered both admiration and criticism.

In the midst of the intricate responsibilities he shoulders, ensuring Kumar’s safety has become a top priority. Acknowledging the inherent risks associated with his position, the MHA took decisive action to provide heightened security measures.

The encounter happened in an anti-Naxal operation in the forest under Kirandul police station limits when District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were out, the official said.

“The operation was launched on Thursday based on inputs about the presence of Maoists in Purangel, Badepalli, Doditumnar and Gampur areas. After the exchange of fire ended, the body of a male Naxalite and a weapon were recovered from the spot,” officials said.

Soldiers provided with night vision binoculars and new-age weapons from Mutavendi, Palanar, Gangalur, Basaguda and Cherpal security camps conducted the operation.

He stated, “I pay homage to the brave heroes who were martyred in Pulwama. Their service and sacrifice for our nation will always be remembered.”

On February 14, 2019, a suicide bomber attacked a security convoy in Pulwama, killing 40 Indian soldiers. In response, the Indian Air Force conducted airstrikes on February 26, 2019, targeting Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror camps in Pakistan’s Balakot. This action resulted in the destruction of terrorist infrastructure and the elimination of a “large number” of terrorists.

During the ensuing confrontation, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman engaged Pakistani jets in a dogfight, leading to his aircraft being shot down over PoK. He was captured by Pakistan but later released. India also shot down a Pakistani fighter jet.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Union Ministers Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Kiren Rijiju also paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, praising their courage and sacrifice. Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi saluted the martyrs, acknowledging their supreme sacrifice in defense of India.

Previously, on November 27, suspected Naxals attacked construction sites in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, torching 14 vehicles and machines. The incident, which occurred around 1.30 a.m. at the Bangali camp within the jurisdiction of the Bhansi police station, was confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police RK Burman.

Thankfully, no casualties were reported during the arson attack. “The Naxals, about 25–30 in number, many disguised as villagers, set fire to four Hyvas, four pickups, a JCB earth-moving machine, a crane, a sifter truck, two water tankers, and a mixer vehicle,” detailed the police official.

Following the incident, the Naxals fled the scene, and the police arrived quickly, extinguishing the fire. As the situation develops, more information about the incidents will be released.

</excerpt>

The households in Elmagunda village in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh have got electricity, a fundamental achievement for the local administration in its efforts to take development to the regions severely affected by Naxalite violence.

The success of electrifying households in this remote Naxal violence-affected village was attained on the eve of India’s 77th Independence Day. The task was executed on 14 August through the determined efforts of district police who worked together with Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited.

Elmagunda did not receive electricity till August 14 and people faced many difficulties in their lives.

According to the police official, meetings were conducted with the villagers to make them aware of the activities of Naxals and encourage them to give movement to the progress and growth of their village. The villagers were also advised to keep their distance from Naxalites.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) also contributed to the completion of the task. The collective efforts of district administration, police and other agencies have brought happiness to the villagers who now see a revolution coming about in their lives.

The officials said that electricity in Elamgudna households will give a tremendous boost to development, help connect the local population with other parts of the state and the country and enable better education of children.

</excerpt>

Village Defence Guards (VDG) received special weapon training from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police at Kalakote in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir.
During a special drive by the CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir police, more than 300 members, both old and new were trained in Kalakote. A special drive was held in villages throughout the Kalakote subdivision including Tatapani, Broh, Sialsui, Potha, and Solki. “Previously, conditions became severe here and locals were terrified and relocated to a new location. VDG is being trained, which is a good initiative. I urge members to participate in the training and protect themselves. We were taught how to keep the weapons and how to use them during the training, and we are no longer afraid. I request that more members come and receive training and learn how to defend themselves so that we can fight ourselves in the future,” said Manshad Ali, a VDG member.
The CRPF took this initiative, providing us with training and cleaning the area and told,”We want them to come to every village and train us, as well as our sisters and wives so that our nation can be protected; we are Hindus, and we are ready to fight alongside our forces to protect our country,” according to Gulzar Ahmed, another VDG member.
Earlier, on 10 January, the CRPF and the Jammu and Kashmir police trained village defence guards in the Rajouri District’s Kandi area. The training was provided following the January 1 attack on civilians in the district.
The training was provided so that VDG could serve as the first line of defense in the event of a terrorist attack.
