Mumbai Hoarding Collapse: Arrested Accused Bhavesh Bhide brought to Mumbai

The owner of Ego Media, the company behind the large billboard that collapsed in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area amid strong winds and rain earlier this week, resulting in 16 deaths and 75 injuries, was brought to Mumbai early Friday for further legal action, according to the police.

Bhavesh Bhide, the owner of the company responsible for the installation of the massive billboard, was arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch in Udaipur, Rajasthan, on Thursday.

“Owner (of the company that put up the billboard) Bhavesh Bhinde, who was arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch from Udaipur, has been brought to Mumbai,” a police officer confirmed on Friday.

“As many as 16 people are confirmed dead and another 75 injured in the billboard collapse in Ghatkopar,” an officer stated earlier.

Expressing sorrow over the tragedy, Bhushan Gagrani, the commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), announced on Thursday that the rescue operation had been completed.

“It’s saddening that 16 lives were lost in this incident. The rescue operation has been completed. The operation was delayed as there is a running fuel station in the area,” Gagrani said.

Earlier, the Mumbai Police registered a case under IPC sections 304, 338, 337, and 34 against Bhavesh Bhide and others at the Pantnagar police station.

On May 13, the billboard in Ghatkopar collapsed amid strong winds, resulting in 16 fatalities and leaving many others trapped underneath.

Salman Khan House Firing Case: Crime Branch interrogates accused firearms suppliers

On Friday, Mumbai police revealed that two individuals apprehended in Punjab and transferred to Mumbai’s Crime Branch custody signify a substantial development in the investigation of the shooting incident outside the residence of Bollywood icon Salman Khan.

The accused are reported to have supplied firearms to the individuals who carried out the shooting outside Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra.
Authorities from the esteemed National Investigation Agency (NIA) stated on Friday that they interrogated the gunmen, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, for an extended period.

As per the Mumbai Police, the two individuals arrived in the city on Thursday under transit remand facilitated by the Crime Branch. Significant insights were gleaned from the suspects during their interrogation. This development follows the extension of their police custody until April 29 by the Esplanade Court.

Previously, the Crime Branch asserted possessing compelling evidence implicating gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi as the masterminds behind the attack. Designated as the primary accused, the Bishnoi siblings, along with two other individuals, were formally charged in the case.

According to officials from the Mumbai Crime Branch, thorough surveillance was conducted in the vicinity of Salman Khan’s farmhouse and residence before the shooting incident. The assailants extensively monitored the property, conducting multiple rounds of surveillance, before executing their plan outside Galaxy Apartments in Bandra.

Further investigation led to the discovery of a damaged mobile phone possibly containing pertinent conversations related to the incident in possession of the accused. Moreover, a pistol, along with magazines and bullets, was recovered from the Tapi River in Surat, shedding light on the criminal’s tactics for disposing of evidence.

Social media posts, particularly a Facebook statement attributed to Anmol Bishnoi claiming responsibility for the incident, served as confirmation of the involvement of the Bishnoi brothers.

Additional charges under IPC sections 506(2), 115, and 201 have been incorporated into the legal proceedings, underscoring the gravity of the allegations against the defendants. Mumbai Crime Branch officials are intensifying their efforts to apprehend the individuals sought and gather further pertinent evidence for the ongoing investigation.

The objective of the investigation remains to unravel the intricate network behind the targeted attack on Salman Khan’s residence.

Police arrests shooter involved in murder of Air India crew member in Delhi

Following a brief exchange of gunfire, the police apprehended an individual on Tuesday who was accused in connection with the killing of an Air India crew member. The arrested individual, identified as Naveen Sharma, carried a reward of Rs 25 thousand.

According to an officer, “The accused, along with two others, was apprehended for shooting dead Air India crew member Suraj Mann in broad daylight at an upscale market in Noida’s Sector 104.”

“Naveen was injured in a brief exchange of fire with the police and arrested from the scene,” the officer added.

The police revealed that the murder was orchestrated by gangster Kapil alias Kallu and was linked to a longstanding family rivalry between the Parvesh Mann and Kapil Mann gangs.

Earlier on Monday, the police had arrested two men in connection with the case. The arrested individuals were identified as Kuldeep from Delhi’s Bhajanpura and Abdul Kadir from UP’s Bijnor. Both were apprehended near the Sarai Kale Khan bus stand following an exchange of fire with a team from the Crime Branch on Monday morning.

Suraj was fatally shot in broad daylight at an upscale market in Noida’s Sector 104 after completing his workout at a gym. He was in his car when three men on a bike (Naveen, Kuldeep, Abdul) shot at him, as per the police.

Furthermore, the police disclosed that Kuldeep and Abdul were tasked by Kallu Khera of Lawrence Bishnoi and Gogi Gang to eliminate Suraj Mann from inside Tihar jail. This hit was ordered as part of an ongoing gang rivalry between Kallu Khera, alias Kapil, and Parvesh Mann, a gangster incarcerated in Delhi’s Mandoli jail. Further details are awaited.

Delhi Crime Branch Nabs Three Drug Traffickers, Seizes 426 Grams of Heroin

The Delhi Crime Branch has successfully apprehended three people involved in drug supply within Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) as part of a major crackdown on drug trafficking. According to the police, the operation resulted in the seizure of a significant 426 grams of heroin from the arrested defendants’ possession.

The initial arrest unfolded near the Anand Vihar Bus Terminal, where 19-year-old Mohd Nasir, alias Kaku, a prime accused engaged in drug trafficking, was apprehended with a significant haul of heroin. Following Nasir’s arrest, the investigative team acted swiftly and arrested another suspect, Mohd Bijli, from Delhi’s Haiderpur area, based on the information provided by Nasir.

During the subsequent stages of the investigation, Mohd Bijli revealed that the procured contraband originated from two additional suspects, namely Mujiv and Sohail. Consequently, Sohail was promptly taken into custody, while Mujiv currently remains at large, according to the police.

This recent operation follows closely on the heels of the Delhi Police Crime Branch’s successful apprehension of an international drug trafficker in Telangana over the weekend. The trafficker, previously convicted in a rape case, had been evading law enforcement since obtaining parole in 2014.

Delhi Crime Branch Makes Big Arrests, Nabs 2 Shooters Linked to Goldy Brar-Lawrence Bishnoi

The Delhi Police crime branch has successfully apprehended two shooters associated with the Goldy Brar-Lawrence Bishnoi gang, shedding light on a recent shooting incident at the residence of former Punjab MLA Deep Malhotra in Punjabi Bagh on December 3.

Both shooters, identified as Akash from Sonipat and Akhil from Charkhi Dadri, played critical roles in the targeted shooting at the ex-MLA’s residence. The assailants were allegedly acting on the orders of Goldie Brar, who allegedly threatened the former MLA via voice notes and demanded his release.

Goldie Brar’s criminal activities extended beyond the shooting, as liquor vends linked to the ex-MLA were set ablaze in Punjab, further escalating tensions.

Simultaneously, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated searches at nearly a dozen locations in Haryana and Rajasthan, focusing on individuals with connections to the incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Bishnoi, who is currently in jail and implicated in the murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, is a notorious figure with a history of involvement in criminal activities.

The ED raids, conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), targeted the residences of suspects associated with Bishnoi, aiming to uncover financial links and illicit transactions within the gang. The Punjab Police had previously indicated that the killing of Moosewala was the result of inter-gang rivalry, with the Bishnoi gang being implicated.

Lawrence Bishnoi, arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in November 2022, has a history of involvement in various criminal conspiracies and targeted killings across regions like Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi.

Delhi police Crime Branch arrests two gangsters for firing and extortion

Two gangsters have been detained by the Delhi Police Crime Branch in connection with cases of extortion and firing, according to reports on Friday. In Rajouri Garden, the accused opened fire on the Zaika restaurant and another location while threatening the owners with a 50 lakh rupee fine. The Bishnoi and Salman Tyagi gangs are said to be represented by the arrested gangsters, according to the Delhi Police Crime Branch.

Ravinder Yadav, Special CP, Crime branch said “Two pistols, live cartridges, and a scooty used in commission of crime were recovered from them.”

Delhi court remands Lawrence Bishnoi to judicial custody in extortion case

Delhi’s Saket Court remanded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to judicial custody on Wednesday in an extortion case in South East Delhi’s Sunlight Area.

He was produced before the court after his three-day police custody expired and remanded into judicial custody by the Duty Metropolitan Magistrate at Saket. Bishnoi had also been remanded for ten days starting 1 June under the Delhi police crime branch.

Following his interrogation, the Delhi police had moved an application seeking judicial custody of the gangster. On 11 June, the crime branch sought a four-day extension of remand to grill Bishnoi about another accused Akshay alias Balaji in Ganganagar, Rajasthan. Akshay, who was arrested in Gujarat under the NDPS, allegedly provided arms and ammunition used to threaten victims in the extortion case.

Delhi police said, “Accused Akshay had provided arms and ammunition in the present case and also facilitated the stay of accused Hiren and two Child CCLs ( Child in Conflict with the law) who were allegedly involved in the commission of the crime in the present case.”

The Delhi police are also seeking to gather information regarding an accused named Kapil alias Nandu and understand how the gangster Bishnoi was able to communicate with and direct Akshay despite being in jail. It was also stated that the accused Kapil is outside India and provided the information to the accused Lawrence Bishnoi for the purposes of the execution of the plan.

An investigation is underway to establish sources for the money used to purchase the arms and ammunition and unearth the chain of conspiracy in order to apprehend other members involved in this nexus.

The court also remanded another accused Sampat Nehra to judicial custody till 25 June. Nehra had already spent nine days in police custody. Nehra is a co-accused in the extortion case and was grilled by police about Bishnoi as well as the gang’s operations in Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. Nehra was produced in front of the court on production warrants from Punjab. He was booked under section 25 of the Arms Act.

The extortion case in question was initially reported by advocate Ramandeep Singh on 24 April in Delhi’s Sunlight Colony, where an FIR was lodged. The case was later transferred to the Crime branch. Singh alleged that he received threatening calls since the night of 23-24 March from an unknown international number. The caller, Singh claimed, had threatened his family and demanded Rs 1 crore. Lawrence was arrested in connection with the case on 31 May.

Meanwhile, the court also granted the accused’s counsel the liberty to talk to the accused for five to 10 minutes every day via audio/video call and for every 30 minutes in-person every alternate day during the entire period of the remand, after submitting written intimation at least 24 hours prior to the proposed time of the meeting.

Naba Das murder case: Crime branch files chargesheet against accused Gopal Das

The Crime Branch of the Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID), Odisha on Friday submitted a preliminary chargesheet against dismissed Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Gopal Das, accused in the murder case of then health minister Naba Das.The crime branch filed a 544-chargesheet in the Jharsuguda district court against the dismissed ASI Gopal Das in connection with the high-profile murder case on January 29 this year, said remand advocate Dayandihi Chand. According to the chargesheet, Naba Das was killed by Gopal Das at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda on January 29. “The accused fired on the chest of the minister from a very close range,” read the chargesheet.

As per the chargesheet, the accused has been charged under Sections 307, 302, and 27 (1) of the Arms Act, Chand said.The police arrested the accused Gopal Das on the spot following the murder.The Crime Branch team reached Jharsuguda on Thursday from Bhubaneswar to submit the chargesheet.

According to the chargesheet, a total of 89 witnesses’ statements were recorded against the accused Gopal Das during the course of the investigation, Chand said.Naba Das had been the Health and Family Welfare Minister of Odisha since 2019. He was a three-time MLA from the Jharsuguda constituency and was said to be an influential leader in the area.
Minister Naba Das was shot at in Brajarajnagar in the Jharsuguda district and succumbed to his bullet injuries in Bhubaneswar Hospital.

1 drug supplier absconding for 2 years held

A narcotics drug supplier absconding for two years has been arrested by Odisha police on Tuesday in Ganjam district of Odisha. Meanwhile, a Special Cell supervised by ACP Attar Singh arrested the accused on 15 January. “Accused was absconding in a case of drug trafficking registered at the Police Station Crime Branch, Delhi in the year 2021. Proceedings to declare him Proclaimed Offender was going on in the trial court of Delhi. The arrested had a reward of Rs 50,000 from Delhi Police for any information leading to his arrest,” read the press release.

Investigation is being carried out in death of Russians in Odisha, says MEA

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said, the probe is underway in three Russian nationals’ death cases in India and asked not to link deaths of three Russian nationals in India.

“Necessary investigation is being carried out in death of Russians in Odisha. We are now aware of the death of a Russian sailor in international waters off the coast of Odisha. His body has been brought to Paradip Port for formalities. I wouldn’t like to link all three cases together,” said MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi during said.

Meanwhile, Bagchi said he wouldn’t like to link all of them together nor look at it all together. “India is a large country where a lot of foreigners visit,” Bagchi stated.

Amid an ongoing investigation, Bagchi said there is “no reason to link” all three cases as the circumstance of the deaths is investigated by the Odisha government.

After the third Russian national MEA spokesperson’s remarks came. The third Russian national used to work as a chief engineer in a cargo ship and on the coast of Odisha he was found dead.

Moreover, within two weeks the third Russian was found dead in the state. Earlier, two Russian nationals were found dead at the Sai International hotel in Rayagada Odisha Police Crime Branch has arrived to investigate the death.

The team is led by Saroj Kant Mahanto in which there are four officers two forensic experts and photographers to assist the CID-Crime Branch probe.

Earlier on 24 December Russian national Pavel Antov was found dead after allegedly falling from a hotel’s third floor. Vladimir Bidenov died “due to heart attack,” said Odisha Police.

However, their co-travelers Pansasenko Natalia and Turov Mikhail CID-Crime Branch are cross-checking the information.

Bihar hooch tragedy accused held from Delhi’s Dwarka

In the Chhapra spurious liquor case in which 70 people died the Delhi Police Crime Branch on Saturday said they have arrested one accused from Dwarka.

Meanwhile, the accused who is arrested by police has been identified as Ram Babu Mahto and the arrest has been made from the Dwarka area.

“Information was received and developed by the Inter-State Cell, Crime Branch, Chankyapuri, Delhi that one Ram Babu Mahto wanted in the case related to spurious liquor tragedy in Bihar, may be hiding somewhere in Delhi,” Ravinder Yadav Special Commissioner of Police (CP) Crime Branch said.

“On the basis of technical surveillance as well as specific inputs, the accused Ram Babu Mahto from Bihar’s Doila was arrested from the area of Dwarka in Delhi,” Yadav said.

“Appropriate legal action is being taken and information about the arrest of the accused has been shared with Bihar Police for further action,” CP Yadav further stated.

Moreover, the accused Ram Babu Mahto is one of the most wanted in the 2022 case under the Bihar Excise Act- 2016 registered at Police Station Mashrak, District Saran in Bihar.

“Ram Babu Mahto was one of the key players in the entire episode where several people lost their lives. When Bihar Police were searching for him, he fled from Bihar,” Yadav said.

However, Ram Babu is an 8 dropout who has four brothers and two sisters and belongs to a farming family.

“Ram Babu claimed that his family is in bad financial condition. However, owing to the prohibition of liquor in the state of Bihar, he sensed an opportunity to make quick and easy money and indulged in manufacturing and selling spurious Liquor,” Yadav said.

Furthermore, in several cases of the illicit liquor business, Ram Babu is involved.

AHTU of the Delhi Police bust prostitution racket, 5 arrested

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Delhi police busted a prostitution racket involving foreign women on Saturday.

“The team got information through an anonymous tip that a sex racket was going on in Malviya Nagar. The police then contacted this gang and sent a policeman as a decoy customer,” said DCP Vichitra Veer, Delhi Police Crime Branch.

According to the Delhi police statement, as many as five accused were arrested and ten women were rescued.

“The policeman saw the girls inside and signaled his team present outside, with then started the raid and arrested the five accused who were running the racket,” DCP added.

Moreover, 10 to 25 thousand rupees were been charged from the customers. One of the accused has been identified as Sher Ali who is a resident of Uzbekistan. He used to send the girls to India with the pretext of getting them a job and then they were forced into sex rackets.

However, further investigation into this matter is underway.
