“Multiple ground reports suggest the killings at the hands of the police who deliberately escalated matters to this level. This shows clear complicity of the State in this riot and a neutral, Supreme Court-monitored probe is the need of the hour to restore peace and bring justice to the victims of this mob violence,” he added.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MPs, led by party president Akhilesh Yadav, met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday to discuss the Sambhal incident. Opposition members have been vocal in criticizing the state government and sought to raise the issue in Parliament.

Akhilesh Yadav alleged that Samajwadi Party MP Zia-ur-Rahman Barq had been falsely implicated in the incident despite being absent from Sambhal.

“Our MP was not even in Sambhal during the incident and despite that, an FIR was lodged against him. It is very unfortunate to know about the young people who have lost their lives in this incident. From all the videos we have, we know it was a riot by the government. The government was looting votes, playing with the EVM machines… they did riot in Sambhal,” he claimed.

Yadav further questioned the state government, criticizing the legal process that, he alleged, proceeded without hearing the other side. He demanded action against the police officials involved in the incident.

The violence in Sambhal began with a stone-pelting incident on Sunday when an ASI team arrived at the Shahi Jama Masjid to conduct a survey, as per official reports. The survey was part of a legal process initiated after a petition by senior advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, who claimed the mosque was originally a temple.

</excerpt>

Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole stirred controversy during a campaign speech in Akola, where he criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly disrespecting the OBC community. Addressing supporters on Monday, Patole said, “Will the OBC people of Akola district vote for a party that calls you dogs? It’s time to humble the BJP, who have become so arrogant.”

Campaigning for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, of which Congress is a part, Patole’s comments reflect the intense rivalry between the MVA and BJP-led Mahayuti coalition. The remark comes amid heightened political tensions as Maharashtra approaches its assembly elections on November 20, with vote counting set for November 23.

This is not the first time inflammatory remarks have surfaced. Earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant referred to BJP-turned-Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC as “imported maal,” a term he later apologized for following backlash. In Jharkhand, Congress leader Irfan Ansari drew ire after calling BJP’s Jamtara candidate, Sita Soren, a “rejected” and “borrowed” player, prompting her emotional response and a strong reaction from the tribal community.

Meanwhile, Patole highlighted the MVA’s election promises, focusing on farmer welfare, youth opportunities, and poverty alleviation. He reiterated the coalition’s pledge for a capable and corruption-free Maharashtra with improved law and order. The upcoming election is expected to be a closely contested race between the MVA and Mahayuti alliances.

His resignation follows Congress’s shocking defeat in Haryana’s assembly elections, adding to the list of prominent leaders leaving the party.
</excerpt>

In a shocking political move, senior Congress leader Captain Ajay Singh Yadav announced his resignation from the party on Thursday, citing disillusionment with the party’s leadership. Yadav, who served as the chairman of the Congress’s OBC department, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he had been “treated shabbily” ever since Sonia Gandhi stepped down as party president.

A Bitter Exit After 70 Years of Family Legacy

The 65-year-old politician, who hails from a family with deep Congress roots dating back to 1952, expressed his disappointment in an emotional post. “This decision was extremely difficult. My family has been associated with the Congress for 70 years, but I cannot ignore the high command’s treatment of me,” Yadav lamented.

His resignation letter, sent to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, marked an end to his long-standing association with the Indian National Congress.

A Growing Exodus of Leaders

Yadav’s resignation is the latest in a series of high-profile exits from Congress in Haryana, following in the footsteps of Kuldeep Bishnoi and Kiran Choudhry, who left to join BJP in the last two years. This adds to Congress’s internal struggles as it tries to regroup after the recent Haryana assembly elections.

Infighting and Election Defeat

Known to be at odds with former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Yadav had voiced concerns about internal conflicts within the state unit before the elections. After Congress’s surprising defeat, Yadav urged the party to introspect, particularly for its performance in southern Haryana districts like Gurugram and Rewari.

What Lies Ahead for Congress in Haryana?

With the BJP securing 48 seats and Congress managing only 37, Yadav’s exit underscores the growing discontent within the party. His resignation raises concerns about the party’s leadership and unity as it braces for future political battles. Meanwhile, Nayab Singh Saini took oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana today, further cementing BJP’s grip on the state.

As Congress grapples with these losses, Yadav’s departure leaves a significant void in its OBC leadership, adding pressure on the party’s high command to resolve internal strife before more leaders follow suit.

</excerpt>

In a move that has drawn significant attention ahead of the upcoming Haryana assembly elections, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi made a surprise visit to Ghogripur village in Karnal district on Friday. Gandhi interacted with the family members of a youth named Amit Mann, who he met during his US visit.

The visit kept under wraps even from local Congress leaders saw Gandhi meeting the family of Amit Mann, a young man who was injured in a road accident after migrating to the United States last year via “donkey route”. Amit drove a truck in the US and he suffered serious injuries in a road accident there. Rahul Gandhi had first met Amit during his recent visit to the US where he had promised to visit Amit’s family in person. Gandhi arrived at their residence early in the morning, speaking with Amit’s parents, Bir Singh and Biramati, about their son’s health and current situation. Gandhi even facilitated a video call with Amit, connecting him with his family back home.

“Amit’s father had to sell land worth Rs 42 lakh to fund his journey to the US,” said a family member, highlighting the extreme lengths families go to for the promise of better opportunities abroad. The visit has also brought into focus the larger issue of unemployment in Haryana, where many youths, especially from villages like Ghogripur, migrate abroad in search of jobs. According to local villagers, over 1,100 young men from the village alone have left the country, struggling to find employment in India.
Rahul Gandhi’s visit is seen by political insiders as a strategic move to shine a spotlight on the growing migration crisis. With Haryana’s assembly elections around the corner, this issue is likely to become a focal point of the Congress campaign, which has already been critical of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) handling of youth employment.
Most of the Congress leaders from the state , however, were reportedly taken by surprise by Gandhi’s visit. He reached Karnal at 5.30am and was received on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway by former AICC secretary and Gharaunda Congress candidate Virender Rathore, who is congress candidate from Gharaunda.

But party’s candidates contesting from region were unaware of his presence, underscoring the secrecy surrounding the visit. Amit’s family members claimed that they gave him Desi ghee, Makhan and lassi. As the battle for Haryana heats up, both Congress and BJP are focusing heavily on the issue of employment.

The visit to Karnal, previously the constituency of former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Nayab Saini, carries political significance as Rahul Gandhi aimed to highlight the pressing issue of unemployment in Haryana, emphasizing how it is pushing the state’s youth towards illegal means to settle abroad. Rahul Gandhi had visited US from September 7 and he returned to India on September 14, a local member from the family of a Congress leader helped Rahul to meet the youths who had adopted the donkey route to reach abroad.

Deputy Superintendent of Police AR Zankat reported that Chauhan, who was on duty to prepare a report, fell and got injured when Ahir pulled the chair after she stood up to take a photo. As Chauhan attempted to sit back down, Ahir’s actions caused her to fall, resulting in injuries that required hospital treatment.

Political Reactions

Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi condemned the incident on X, calling the Congress “anti-women and anti-Dalit.” He shared a video showing Ahir deliberately pulling the chair, leading to Chauhan’s fall. Sanghavi mentioned that Chauhan was shocked and depressed following the incident.

Congress Response

MLA Jignesh Mevani defended Ahir, alleging that the BJP government orchestrated the incident to target the Congress party. Mevani alleged that the FIR was a tactic to undermine a Congress worker exposing the home minister, criticizing the government’s handling of Dalit issues.

Legal Actions

Ahir is charged under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including voluntarily causing harm to a public servant, obstructing a public servant, and assault with intent to dishonor. Provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also been invoked. The FIR stated Ahir’s act was intentional, aimed at insulting and injuring Chauhan, whom he knew from prior events.

</excerpt>

Congress leader and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar asserted on Monday that the opposition coalition, the INDIA bloc, will form the government at the Centre, dismissing the exit poll results. When questioned about the exit poll findings, DK Shivakumar stated, “I don’t believe (exit poll findings),” and added, “INDIA will form the government.”

The exit polls on June 1 forecasted a landslide victory for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Lok Sabha elections. Earlier in the day, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also dismissed the exit poll predictions as a “media creation” and expressed confidence that the INDIA bloc would surpass the 295-seat mark in the Lok Sabha elections.

“We are not going to agree with the exit poll. Exit polls are a media creation. In the Centre, our President has made it very clear that the INDIA alliance will win 295 seats,” Siddaramaiah told ANI on Monday.

The exit polls indicated that the ruling BJP-led NDA is likely to improve its performance compared to its 2019 record when it secured 352 seats. Two polls suggested that the BJP would increase its numbers from the 303 seats won in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

According to the India Today-Axis My India exit poll, the NDA is predicted to win 361-401 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, while the INDIA bloc is expected to secure 131-166 seats, with 8 to 20 seats going to other parties. The Republic PMarq exit poll forecasted 359 out of 543 seats for the NDA, 154 for the INDIA bloc, and 30 for others. The Republic Matrize poll projected 353-368 seats for the NDA, 118-113 for the INDIA bloc, and 43-48 for others. The NewsX Dynamics poll predicted 371 seats for the NDA, 125 for the INDIA bloc, and 47 for others.

The Lok Sabha elections were conducted in seven phases starting from April 19, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4.

Tharoor expressed his concerns while campaigning for former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi, who is contesting from the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency as a Congress candidate.

Shashi Tharoor accused the BJP of attempting to polarize voters along religious lines and claimed that the party had divided people on the basis of religion and caste. He further alleged that the BJP had undermined various democratic institutions in the country, exerting pressure on them to align with its agenda.

Charanjit Singh Channi is contesting against AAP candidate Pawan Kumar Tinu and SAD candidate Mohinder Singh Kaypee in the Jalandhar constituency for the 2024 elections.

YS Sharmila, leader of the Andhra Pradesh Congress and Kadapa candidate, criticized Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party leader Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday for his remarks about the Congress, referring to them as “remote-control” comments.

Earlier this week, CM Jagan criticized the opposition for employing his sisters in their attempts to undermine the YSRCP in the state.

“Unable to face me alone in the political arena, TDP-JSP-BJP is united to conspire against me. Unfortunately, my two sisters (referring to Sharmila and Sunita) are being used as part of their conspiracy. It was Congress that tried to hide YSR’s legacy. Congress didn’t even receive as many votes as NOTA did. Further, Congress was responsible for Andhra Pradesh’s bifurcation and neglected to include the special category status in the state reorganization act. Will anyone vote for the Congress that has broken the state?” CM Jagan stated.

He further remarked that backing the Congress is equivalent to supporting Chandrababu.

“Who will benefit if our votes are divided? It will be Chandrababu and BJP,” CM Jagan said.”Our younger sisters have become part of the opposition conspiracy. They are hanging around with those who unfairly defeated Chinnanna (Uncle Vivekananda) in the MLC election and people should be aware of the opposition’s conspiracy to gain political mileage,” he continued.

</excerpt>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent comment about “Rajas and Maharajas taking away lands,” stating that Rahul Gandhi ignores the atrocities committed by Muslim emperors and his statement was aimed at appeasing a certain vote bank. PM Modi made these remarks during a public meeting in Belagavi, Karnataka, on Sunday.

PM Modi tore into Rahul Gandhi, saying, “The Shehzada of the Congress said recently that our Rajas and Maharajas back in the day were ruthless. They snatched or took away the humble assets of the poor at their whim. The Shehzada insulted the revered Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Rani Chennamma, whose good governance and patriotism still fill us with national pride and honour. Does he not have any knowledge of the contribution of the royal family of Mysuru who we all regard very highly and are proud of?”

He accused Rahul Gandhi of staying silent on the excesses committed by Muslim rulers and said, “The Shehzada was carefully calibrated, on purpose, to appease a certain vote bank. He did not utter a single word on the atrocities committed by the Nawabs, Nizams, Sultans, and Badhshahs (on their peasants). The Congress seems to have forgotten the grave excesses perpetrated by (Mughal emperor) Aurangzeb, who destroyed thousands of our temples.”

PM Modi highlighted the contributions of Hindu rulers, accusing Rahul Gandhi of focusing solely on his vote bank. He mentioned Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Rani Chennamma as examples of revered figures whose contributions Rahul Gandhi allegedly overlooked.

Regarding the law and order situation in Karnataka, PM Modi criticized the Congress government, citing a recent incident in Hubballi where a Congress corporator’s daughter was murdered. PM Modi accused the Congress of prioritizing appeasement over justice and not valuing the lives of young women like Neha Hiremath, the victim in the Hubballi case.

Neha Hiremath, a first-year MCA student, was stabbed to death on the BVB College campus on April 18. The accused, Fayaz Khondunaik, was arrested after fleeing the scene.

</excerpt>

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday, expressed the party’s commitment to conducting a caste survey if it assumes power at the Centre. She specified that the Kadugolla community in Karnataka would be among those considered for inclusion among Scheduled Tribes (ST).

Speaking at a rally in Chitradurga, Karnataka, she affirmed that the Congress would introduce a constitutional amendment to elevate the 50 per cent cap on reservations for SCs, STs, and OBCs.

“For Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and OBC like my brother (Rahul Gandhi) says everywhere, a complete count will be done in the entire country as to who belongs to which caste and how much is their population and who is earning how much and then new policies will be made under that. Reservation limit will be increased from 50 per cent and the SC, ST sub-plan will be implemented. Special budget will be issued for SC, ST, and Kadugolla community will be given ST status,” she said.

Members of the Kadugolla community are spread across 38 taluks in 11 districts, residing in 1,264 hamlets known as ‘hattis,’ which are isolated from villages like ‘islands’ and often lack basic amenities. Their population in Karnataka is estimated to range between 5 to 6 lakh. In Andhra Pradesh, they are primarily found in Rayadurga, Kalyandurga, and Madakasira taluks.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleding that “the biggest leader of the country has given up morality, does drama before people and does not walk on the path of truth.”

“I want to explain to you in-depth what is happening in our country today. There are two different realities in the country today. One reality is inflation, unemployment is increasing and the other reality which you see on TV, where you see our Prime Minister, who tells you with all his fame and glory that this country is progressing rapidly,” the Congress leader said.

She claimed that there are efforts underway to undermine the opposition by stifling their voices, freezing bank accounts, and imprisoning two chief ministers.

“There was a time when a leader would stand up, and people of the country expected him to be an ethical person. They would expect morality from him but today ‘the biggest leader’ of the country has given up morality and does drama before you,” the Congress leader alleged.

“The biggest leader of the nation goes out to show off his clout, his pride, and his fame but does not walk on the path of truth.”

Discussing the electoral bonds scheme, which the Supreme Court has deemed unconstitutional, the Congress leader accused companies that were raided of donating to the BJP, following which cases against them were reportedly closed.

“PM Modi brought a scheme – electoral bonds. Under this scheme, anyone who would fund a political party, his or her name would not be disclosed. However, the Supreme Court said that this scheme would lead to an increase in corruption, and the names of those who have funded a political party should be disclosed. It is now clear how the black money was made white through demonetisation and then it was deposited in BJP’s account. How the companies that were unable to earn even Rs 100 crore, donated Rs 1,100 crore to the BJP (under the electoral bond scheme),” she alleged.

The Lok Sabha elections for 28 seats in Karnataka will be conducted in two phases, with polling scheduled for April 26 and May 7. Vote counting will take place on June 4. In the 2019 elections, the BJP secured victory in 25 out of the 28 seats independently.

</excerpt>

During a roadshow, Congress leader Sachin Pilot expressed optimism in the opposition coalition, INDIA bloc, forming a government at the Centre. He also stated that the Congress party aims to secure 20 seats in Kerala during the Lok Sabha elections. Additionally, Sachin Pilot queried the BJP government about their accomplishments over the past decade.

“The BJP government has not done any work in the last 10 years. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are for a new change. The UDF has promised to work for the elderly, farmers and young people amd women. The BJP has used the CBI and ED against Rahul Gandhi. In the last 10 years, the BJP has not done anything for the middle class and the poor. You can see the language of the BJP leaders and see what kind of agenda they are setting. Rahul Gandhi always raises the issues of Wayanad and talks about his constituency, this time also people will vote for Rahul Gandhi and make Congress win 20 seats in Kerala,” Pilot told ANI.

He emphasized that the election agenda should prioritize development, progress, and prosperity, highlighting what he perceives as a “sense of arrogance” within the NDA government.

“This is a national election. The agenda for the election should be development, progress, and prosperity. The 10 years of the NDA government, have to give answers for why we have record unemployment in this country today. The sense of arrogance in the government is now clearly visible. The statements made by the top leaders of the BJP show that they are on a back foot in the first round of voting. The feedback we’ve got is that it INDIA bloc is far ahead of the NDA. In Kerala, there are 20 seats that go to polls. Last time we got 19 seats. I am absolutely confident that we will get 20 out of 20 seats and Rahul Gandhi will win by a bigger margin than he won last time,” he said.

Pilot elaborated that the Congress manifesto is dedicated to the nation’s prosperity, asserting that recent statements from BJP leaders indicate their apprehension and nervousness regarding the election outcome.

“I don’t know why the Prime Minister is saying these things. There is no reason. We take everybody along. This country belongs to all of us. But the statements given by the BJP leaders show that they are rattled and they are quite nervous about the results…UDF will win 20 on 20 seats (in Kerala),” he said.

He additionally asserted that the Congress and the INDIA bloc are poised to perform strongly in the Lok Sabha elections, confidently stating that the INDIA bloc will assume power on June 4.

“The LDF government is working in the state but is not successful in delivering development. Their government is facing serious corruption charges. There is violence in the state and violence in politics as well. The people of Kerala will show the LDF the real mirror. It is also clear to the people what the agenda of the BJP is and the agenda of Congress is absolutely clear. We will work for women, farmers, the elderly, and young people. The Congress and the INDIA bloc will perform well. The Congress manifesto aims to bring prosperity to India. It is clear from the statements given by BJP leaders that they are nervous about the election results.

In response to the electoral bonds controversy, Sachin Pilot urged the BJP government to reveal the names of the recipients.

“The Supreme Court has called the electoral bond illegal. If they want transparency, then why is the BJP not disclosing the recipient’s name? Even after the Supreme Court’s intervention, the name has been kept hidden. Donations have been received, which is a huge corruption, and the BJP will have to answer,” he said.

All 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala are scheduled to vote in a single phase on April 26, with counting set for June 4.

</excerpt>

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asserted that the BJP’s electoral success would be limited to fewer than 150 seats on Saturday.

“These BJP people have kept saying that they will secure this many or that many seats, let me make it clear, they (BJP) won’t get more than 150 seats. Not even a single seat more than 150,” he said while addressing a public rally in Bhagalpur.

Rahul Gandhi pledged to discontinue the Agniveer scheme, arguing that India doesn’t require two categories of martyrs.

“As soon as the INDIA alliance government comes, we will end the Agniveer scheme. India does not need two types of martyrs. Everyone should get a pension,” he said.

He also pledged to introduce a minimum tax once in office.

“We will change GST. There will be one tax, the minimum tax. We will double the salary of Asha and Anganwadi workers,” he said.

He also vowed to waive farmers’ debts and ensure a guaranteed minimum support price for farmers if the INDIA alliance government is established.

“We are giving two guarantees to the farmers. The Congress party is going to waive off the farmers’ debts, and secondly, we are going to provide a guaranteed minimum support price to the farmers of India,” he said.

He also assured that his government would grant all graduates and diploma holders in India the entitlement to an apprenticeship.

He further elaborated that under the apprenticeship entitlement, every individual would be allocated a one-year apprenticeship in the public, private, and government sectors with a salary, and successful performance would lead to permanent employment opportunities.

“All the graduates and diploma holders of India, we are going to give them a right, the right to apprenticeship. The right to apprenticeship means that our next government is going to give every youth of India the right to a first job. Everyone will get an apprenticeship for one year with salary. They will receive training, and if they perform well in the first year, they will get a permanent job. These apprenticeship jobs will be available in public units, in the private sector, and in the government sector,” he said.

The first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 wrapped up on Friday across 102 parliamentary constituencies spanning 21 states and Union Territories. Subsequent phases are scheduled for April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1, respectively.

</excerpt>

Congress leader Bathini Srinivas Rao lodged a complaint in Hanmakonda against former minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) for leveling accusations against Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Expressing disapproval of the accusations, the Congress leader stated that KTR had made untrue and deceptive claims against Chief Minister Reddy, alleging that he had amassed Rs 2,500 crores from contractors and builders and transferred the sum to Delhi.

“Misleading and baseless allegations are being made by KTR and disrupting peace and security,” Bathini Srinivas Rao said in his complaint.

According to the ACP of Hanumakonda, “A zero FIR has been filed against KTR on the complaint of Congress leader Bathini Srinivas Rao for making allegations against Telangana CM Revanth Reddy.”

Earlier on Friday, CM Reddy reacted to KTR’s statement suggesting that ‘phones may have been tapped’. Reddy issued a caution, stating that individuals implicated in the purported phone tapping during the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration ‘will be sent to jail.’

“Earlier, the government scared the people who voted for them by putting cases on them and phone tapping. ‘KTR is saying that they tapped a few calls, so what?’ Can anyone speak like that? If you tap phones, you will go to Cherlapalli jail. The officers who listened to them are in jail. We already said that they are evil doers, thieves, and if you listen to them, you will go to jail. KTR is speaking like an unbridled bull. They will pay for it, but the case is under investigation,” Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said.

The phone-tapping case centers on accusations of extensive phone tapping of political figures, including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, during the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration under the leadership of K Chandrashekar Rao.

The ED has requested that the Congress leader come to the agency’s office for questioning on February 29.

Rawat, 63, is a former forest minister of the state who joined the Congress ahead of the 2022 Uttarakhand assembly election.

Notably, on February 7, the ED raided Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Delhi, including Rawat’s residence, in connection with the suspected forest fraud.

During his term as state forest minister, Rawat and several of his departmental personnel were allegedly involved in unlawful tree cutting and building in Corbett Park’s Pakhro area as part of the Tiger Safari project.

The Forest Survey of India (FSI) alleged in its study that more than 6,000 trees were illegally chopped in the Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR) despite 163 permissions for the Pakhru Tiger Safari.

However, the state forest department denied the FSI’s assertions, stating that some technical difficulties needed to be addressed before accepting the report.

Previously, the Uttarakhand Vigilance Team searched an institute in Dehradun’s Shankarpur and a petrol pump in Chhiddarwala, both linked to Harak Singh Rawat.

</excerpt>

On Wednesday, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a Congress MP, claimed that stones were thrown at the vehicle of Rahul Gandhi, a fellow Lok Sabha member and former party president, during the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. The West Bengal Congress president reported that someone from the crowd targeted Rahul’s vehicle, resulting in the rear windscreen being shattered when the yatra reached Malda, a Congress stronghold. Chowdhury informed reporters, stating, “Maybe someone from the crowd, at the back, pelted a stone at Rahul-ji’s vehicle. The police are looking into the matter. A lot can happen due to overlooking. This is a small incident but someone could have been injured.”

This incident is not the first time the Congress has raised concerns about untoward incidents during the yatra in West Bengal, where the TMC is in power. In a previous statement, Chowdhury noted challenges faced by the yatra in both BJP-ruled states and Mamata Banerjee-led Bengal. He stated, “Nyay yatra has been targeted since the beginning. In Manipur, Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to hold a public meeting where we wanted to. We had to conduct this meeting on private property outside Manipur. In Assam, many police personnel attacked the yatra on orders from the government. In West Bengal, we requested permission to hold a meeting in Siliguri but it was denied.”

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra commenced on January 14 in Imphal and is scheduled to conclude in Mumbai on March 20.

</excerpt>

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has swept the internet as he posted a heartfelt video with his mother Sonia Gandhi. In the video, Rahul Gandhi has turned into a chef to please his mother by making her favorite orange jam. Rahul Gandhi posted a cinematic video on YouTube where he captured the beautiful moments of the entire process of jam making along with Sonia Gandhi.

He posted the video and it’s clips on various social media platforms on the occasion of New Year. He wrote on his Instagram, “My kinda jam session, Happy New Year everyone!”

In the video, Rahul Gandhi said that the recipe of the jam belongs to his sister Priyanka Gandhi and he is using it today. He also mentioned that it is Sonia Gandhi’s favourite jam. The mother and son duo cracked the kitchen with jokes and light-hearted humor.

Rahul Gandhi jokingly asked Sonia, “If the BJP wants the jam they can get it too, What do you say mummy?”
“They will throw it at us!” Sonia playfully replied.
Rahul Gandhi laughed at the witty comment of his mother and said, “Then it’s good, we can pick it back up!”

The YouTube video also consisted of a personal Q&A session between the two. Upon asking his best and most annoying qualities, Sonia Gandhi praised her son saying that he is very caring and affectionate however he is as stubborn as she is.

While talking about his culinary skills, Rahul Gandhi said, “When I was studying and working in England that’s when I learnt this stuff. I had no choice but to figure it out by myself so I know a couple of things. When I need it I can cook.”

Rahul talks about how a lot of political fights in the history were because of food itself. He gave the example of Mahatma Gandhi’s nutritional values and ideas and said that he has his own set of ideology regarding food, slightly distinct from him.

</excerpt>

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday updated his Twitter account bio to ‘Dis’Qualified MP’ after he was disqualified as a Member of Parliament following the Surat court order convicting him in a criminal defamation case over his ‘Modi surname’ remark.

According to sources, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday will hold a day-long ‘Sankalp Padyatra’ near Raj Ghat as a protest against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as a Lok Sabha MP. Rahul Gandhi, on Friday, was disqualified as a member of the Lok Sabha, a day after a Surat court sentenced him to two years imprisonment in a defamation case filed against him over his ‘Modi surname’ remark.

The decision was made after he commented in April 2019 at a Lok Sabha election rally in Kolar, Karnataka, “how come all the thieves have Modi as the common surname.” To give Gandhi time to appeal to higher courts, the court granted him bail with a surety and suspended the sentence for 30 days.

After being convicted in the defamation case and subsequently disqualified from Lok Sabha, Gandhi, hit out BJP. While addressing a press conference, Gandhi said that he is not scared of going to prison and his disqualification from Parliament was aimed at distracting people from the Adani issue.

“Moot question remains who invested Rs 20,000 crore in Adani shell firms? I will keep asking the question,” he said. The former MP alleged that the BJP-led central government is allegedly protecting businessman Gautam Adani, who has been accused of stock manipulation.

Attacking PM Modi, he said, “Prime Minister was scared of the next speech that was going to come on Adani. I have seen it in his eyes. That is why, first the distraction and then the disqualification”.
The BJP hit back at him with Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur stating that the central government and Lok Sabha have no role to play in his disqualification and that Rahul Gandhi “is a case of political immaturity”.

</excerpt>

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during an interaction with the Indian diaspora in London on Sunday (local time) thanked them for extending their love and support to the Bharat Jodo Yatra from different parts of the world.
“I would like to thank all of them for extending their love and support to the Bharat Jodo Yatra from different parts of the world. Their dedication to the cause of our motherland is an inspiration for me,” posted Gandhi on his Facebook page. The Congress leader said that he had a “wonderful opportunity to address and interact with the Indian diaspora in London.”
“Indians abroad are a shining example of our culture of love, affection and respect. It is a matter of pride how they live in harmony everywhere with different cultures around them,” he added.

BJP slammed Gandhi of maligning India abroad after repeated electoral defeats & supprting china, after his address at his alma mater Cambridge University.
Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP during an interaction with the Indian diaspora in London and said that “at the heart of their ideology is cowardice”, mentioning External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s remarks on China.

“This is there in their ideology and the foreign minister in the country is saying it. You imagine him saying China is stronger than us, we don’t fight with them. The British were stronger than us, so we should not have fought with them. How would we have gotten Independence had we followed BJP and RSS principles? At the heart of their ideology is cowardice. That is the lesson for everybody,” remarked Rahul.

“The more they attack me, the better it is for me. The more I understand, the more I learn. This is the fight between courage and cowardice. It is a fight between respect and disrespect. It is a fight between love and hatred.”
Reiterating what he said during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi mentioned that he has come to open ‘nafrat ke bazaar mein Mohabbat ki dukan’ (spread love in the atmosphere of hatred).

Highlighting his learning experience of the yatra, Rahul Gandhi said, “The interesting thing for me was what the people of India were saying. Unemployment, prices, the concentration of wealth, and Mr Adani. It is not in the media at all. In the media, we see anger, hatred, and violence. Then we see Bollywood, Aishwarya Rai, Salman Khan, and cricket, we see all these things. But we don’t see the real issues the people of India face.”

“We walked for almost 4,000 kms. It was a huge effort. In the first five or six days, I started asking myself my role in the yatra. My role is that whoever came in the yatra, regardless of being rich, poor, young, old, male, or female, I decided my role would be to make them feel when they came to speak to us, that they had come back home. I told the people who were working with me that listen, we have to respect every single person who comes and he has to feel he has come home and when he leaves he must feel that he has left home. We do not want a political relationship with him, we want an emotional and family relationship with him,” the Congress leader added.

Madhu Sharma, Hyderabad: YSR Telengana Party chief YS Sharmila on Wednesday visited youth leader Thota Pavan at a private hospital in Hyderabad where he is under treatment after an alleged assault by the BRS goons in Warangal district on Monday.

She inquired with the doctors about his health condition and extended moral support to the family members. She termed this a dastardly act and dubbed BRS leaders as worse than beasts.

Speaking to the media outside the hospital Sharmila said, “With no humanity in their hearts and actions, BRS goons are holding a sway on the State, worse than wild animals. There is literally no law and order in the State and it is shameful that there is no action against the rogues who had perpetrated to this heinous act. KCR won’t be spared by fate and he and his hooligans are sure to be paid back by destiny. The sorrow and pain of Pavan’s parents won’t go in vain.”

She recalled the series of violent attacks on her during her padayatra and said, “From Dharmapuri to Narsampet to Mahbubabad to Huzurnagar, I faced the fury of these goondas, only to ask myself if the law and order was still prevailing in the state. Due to the most dreadful and mafia reign of BRS, broad daylight murders, rapes, and robberies are a daily feature in Telangana. We demand the police department that they stand by the side of the people and not behave like the private army of the BRS. As such we have our doubts if the cops have joined BRS by now.”

“I demand that the President Rule to be imposed in Telangana and we will meet the Honourable Governor to request the same,” she added.
Sharmila also appealed to the transgenders, stating she and her party accord the utmost respect to the community and it was only in a momentary exchange of words that she had uttered the word, but never had the intention of demeaning them.

We respect you and recognize the fact that you have a special place in our society. I offer my apologies to you if someone feels I have hurt them. I would want to add that KCR had not done anything useful for you. Once voted to power, YSRTP will work towards your upliftment and ensure you a respectable stature in the society, and also extend welfare schemes and loans.”

I did not discuss it with my father. I do not think this Congress has space for me,” Anil said.

He alleged that he had received threat calls and hate messages through the night, in a tweet. In his resignation letter, Anthony said he did not give in to the demands to retract the tweet and instead was submitting his resignation from the party.

He added, “I would prefer to continue my other professional endeavors without being fed this negativity, and being involved in these destructive narratives, many against the very core interests of India. These I strongly believe will end up in the dustbin of history with time.

MP Congress leader and former minister Raja Pateria was arrested today for his controversial remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ‘be ready to kill Modi to save constitution.’
As per the officials Pateria has been arrested from his residence in Hata town of Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district.
He was addressing a meeting of the Mandalam sector presidents organized by the District Congress Committee at Powai Rest House, where he made the controversial remarks on PM Modi.
In the video that went viral, Pateria could be heard saying that “PM Modi will “end elections, divide people on the basis of religion and Dalits face the biggest threat under his regime”. “You should be ready to carry out ‘Modi ki hatya’ if you want to save the Constitution…hatya (kill) in the sense of defeating him,” Pateria is heard saying.
Agitated over his statement, the BJP leaders demanded Pateria’s immediate arrest and also sought the strictest probe into the matter.
In the letter to DGP, the BJP leaders said: “A video in the matter has gone viral over social media and electronic media where a senior leader of Congress was seen appealing to kill the Prime Minister in an open address in a village of Panna. Such an appeal to kill the Prime Minister shows that there is a serious challenge to national security, and a conspiracy to spread anarchy and cause a riot in Madhya Pradesh.”
“This seems to be an attempt to hatch a conspiracy to kill PM Modi and encourage Naxalism in the state,” the letter read further.
Following which Pateria also made a clarification video in which he said, “I am a follower of Gandhi ji and Gandhi’s followers can not talk about murder. The video has been misinterpreted.”
“I meant to say that it is necessary to defeat him to save this country’s Constitution, to protect minorities, Dalits, and tribal and to remove unemployment. My intention about the murder has been misrepresented,” Pateria added.

Mr Pateria will be in jail till at least December 26 after failing to secure bail. Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh Congress has issued him a show cause notice and sought a response within three days.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi received a death threat when he arrived in Indore for his ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra on Friday.

Meanwhile, in the Juni Indore police station area in a sweet shop, a letter was found in which it was written that bomb blasts across the city will take place.

The letter mentioned that Chief Minister Kamal Nath would be shot down and Rahul Gandhi will be killed.

The letter read, “There will be bomb blasts at several places in Indore, Kamal Nath will be shot down and you will be sent where your father Rajiv Gandhi is.”

Moreover, the police are examining the CCTV footage of the area and the person who left the letter is also been searched.

According to police sources, this act can be the handiwork of a mischievous element.

A day after lashing Veer Savarkar the threat came. Earlier on Thursday the Congress leader said, “Veer Savarkar, in a letter written to the British, said “Sir, I beg to remain your most obedient servant” and signed on it. Savarkar helped the British. He betrayed leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Patel by signing the letter out of fear.”

However, after which the grandson of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar Ranjit Savarkar said he will be filing a complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at Shivaji Park Police Station in Mumbai for insulting Savarkar.

“It is not the first time Rahul Gandhi and Congress have insulted Savarkar. In the past too, they have insulted Savarkar, so I have decided to file a complaint against Rahul Gandhi at Shivaji Park police station,” Savarkar said.

“I will file a complaint for insulting our leader freedom fighter. Rahul Gandhi is a serial offender in this regard. In the past in 2017 also did the same thing,” Ranjit Sarvarkar also added, “Congress is trying to play vote bank politics and uses the same agenda of insulting Veer Savarkar,” Savarkar concluded.

Nowadays, Congress leaders are on Bharat Jodo Yatra, which began on 7 September from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.

In a money laundering case brought by the Enforcement Directorate, the Bombay high court on Tuesday granted bail to former Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Anil Deshmukh.

The bail was granted on a surety amount of Rs 1 lakh. The ED has asked for a two-week delay in the order’s implementation.

Deshmukh was arrested in November of last year and moved the high court after his bail request was rejected earlier this year by a special PMLA court.

Deshmukh has been given bail in the ED case, but he will continue to be held in relation to the CBI case that was brought against him in April of last year.

The Supreme Court had earlier ordered the High Court to quickly hear and resolve the NCP leader’s case because it had been pending for six months.

Deshmukh’s lawyers, Vikram Chaudhari and Aniket Nikam, argued that the senior NCP politician ought to be given bail in light of his age (72), good health, and lack of prior convictions.

As Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra entered the BJP-ruled state, according to Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Saturday, the BJP placed a front page advertisement in a Kannada newspaper. Ramesh said in a tweet, “The advertisement mischievously distorts history as usual. Savarkar propounded two-nation theory & Jinnah ensured it got done. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, founder of Jan Sangh championed partition of Bengal.” BJP is rattled by the yatra’s success, the Congress leader continued.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra of Rahul Gandhi entered the election-bound state of Karnataka on Friday. There, the yatra will travel 511 kilometres across seven districts in 21 days.

Rahul Gandhi remarked in a statement at the beginning of the march’s Kerala leg that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is the voice of the nation and that no one can stop it.

“Entire control is lying with the (Central) government. If we speak in Parliament, they shut our microphones,” Rahul Gandhi said.

A new Rahul Gandhi and a new Congress party have emerged from the Bharat Jodo Yatra which forced the BJP and the RSS on the backfoot, Jairam Ramesh said on Friday. “People asked who is ‘thodoing’ (breaking) Bharat for Congress to do Bharat Jodo, our answer is Mr Modi’s ideology, policies, personality is thodoing Bharat. Because economic inequality is increasing, social polarisation is increasing and political over-centralisation is increasing, the Congress is doing this yatra,” Jairam Ramesh said.
