Snakes Are Filled With Water and Peeled Alive: WHAT FOR?

May 7, 2025, 4:33 pm

Every year, thousands in India die from snake bites, making the mere sight of a cobra enough to trigger panic. Most flee or attack the reptile out of instinctive fear. But in Kapetakan, a small village in Java, Indonesia, the fear dynamic is tragically reversed—here, it’s the snakes that suffer, not humans.

In this village, snakes are hunted, tortured, and killed—not for safety, but for style. The skins of these deadly creatures are turned into luxury handbags, belts, shoes, and wallets. These high-end products, sold for as much as ₹33 lakh in Europe and the U.S., originate from blood-soaked slaughterhouses that treat snakes as raw material, not living beings.

Recently, harrowing images from a facility owned by a man known as Boss Cobra, or Wakira, resurfaced online, reigniting global outrage. His factory first came under scrutiny in 2013. At his site, cobras and other venomous snakes are skinned alive. Their agony is swift yet brutal—skinned within seconds, some remain alive, dying slow, painful deaths due to trauma or dehydration.

According to reports, about 10 workers operate at Wakira’s factory, sharing a monthly income of around ₹13 lakh. The skins harvested are shipped across Java, where skilled artisans in Comal District transform them into glistening fashion pieces. Their final form may dazzle buyers, but few pause to ask where this shine truly comes from.

The slaughter method is gruesome: snakes are first knocked unconscious by a blow to the head. A pipe is forced down their throats and filled with water to inflate their bodies. A leather rope is then tied around the neck to prevent the water from escaping. After about 10 minutes, the snake is hung from a meat hook, and its skin is peeled off “like a glove.”

The peeled skins are either sun-dried or oven-dried before being sent to tanneries. But skin isn’t the only commodity. Snake meat is also in demand, consumed for taste and believed medicinal benefits. Many Indonesians believe snake meat cures skin conditions, asthma, and enhances male potency.

This industry, hidden behind glamor and gold, raises a chilling ethical dilemma. The profits may be high, but the price paid in suffering is even higher. While the West flaunts these products as symbols of luxury, their origins lie in cruelty few can stomach.

Owner Inaction and Public Outcry

Throughout the encounter, the dog’s owner appears to struggle to calm the animal, yet the Rottweiler remains relentless. The video has ignited a fierce debate among viewers. Some users commend the dog’s bravery, while many others criticize the owner’s lack of timely intervention, arguing that the pet was put in unnecessary danger.

Comments on the video ranged widely:

One user remarked, “Train your dog, he doesn’t even follow your command.”
Another commented on the nature of cobras, noting, “If you look it up, the cobra family isn’t responsible for most deaths. They usually warn or dry bite rather than attack. Cobras are one of the wisest snake species and even prey on vipers, which are actually more dangerous.”
Additional viewers expressed concern for the dog’s safety and criticized the use of such incidents for social media clout.

Social Media Impact

The video has garnered massive attention, accumulating over 63 million views and more than 2.1 million likes. The graphic nature of the assault has led to a polarizing response, with viewers debating whether the display was a demonstration of natural instinct or an example of reckless pet ownership.

Broader Implications

The incident raises important questions about pet training and owner responsibility when handling dangerous encounters. Experts emphasize that while dogs can exhibit protective instincts, proper training and supervision are crucial to ensure the safety of both the animal and others involved. Moreover, many have called for responsible sharing of such content, arguing that sensationalizing animal fights can encourage dangerous behavior.

As the discussion continues online, the incident serves as a reminder of the complexities surrounding animal behavior, the ethics of pet ownership, and the impact of viral content on public perceptions of wildlife and domestic animals.

A Five-Minute Battle

A video of the incident, which has since gone viral, shows Jenny fiercely attacking the cobra, shaking it violently with her jaws. For nearly five minutes, Pit Bull fought the snake until it was no longer a threat. Her brave actions saved the children from a potentially deadly bite.

A History of Heroism

Punjab Singh, the owner of the house, shared that this wasn’t the first time Jenny had acted as a guardian for the family. According to Singh, Jenny has previously killed between eight and ten snakes that had entered their garden. Living near fields, the family often encounters snakes, especially during the rainy season. On this occasion, Singh was not at home, but his son and several other children were playing in the garden when the cobra appeared.

Owner’s Gratitude and Message

Upon hearing of Jenny’s brave actions, Punjab Singh was filled with gratitude. He reflected on the danger that the cobra posed, stating, “If Jenny hadn’t killed the snake, a tragedy could have occurred. She saved lives and earned our eternal gratitude.” Singh also expressed his love for animals, noting that despite the negative stigma surrounding pit bulls, Jenny has never harmed anyone. “People often say negative things about pit bulls, but mine has only ever protected us,” he added.

Jenny’s Protective Instincts

Jenny’s protective nature has not only saved the children, but also her owner’s brother on a previous occasion. Singh mentioned that while they have other dogs, Jenny is always the one who bravely confronts snakes. In addition to their dogs, the family also has a mongoose that helps keep their home safe from other pests, such as mice.

As pit bulls face increasing scrutiny due to reports of aggressive behavior, Jenny’s heroic actions serve as a reminder of the loyalty and bravery that many of these dogs display. Her fearless response in the face of danger has not only protected her family but also won her a place in the hearts of many who have read about her remarkable act of courage.

Bengaluru Couple’s Shock As Cobra Found In Amazon Package: Company Issues Response

June 19, 2024, 8:40 am

A couple in Bengaluru received a chilling surprise when they discovered a spectacled cobra inside a package they had ordered from Amazon. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, has sparked significant safety concerns and raised questions about the handling of deliveries by the e-commerce giant.

Details of the Incident:

The couple, both software engineers residing on Sarjapur road, had ordered an Xbox controller through the Amazon app. Instead of their expected item, they found a venomous snake trapped inside the package with packaging tape. They promptly recorded the shocking discovery and shared it on social media, highlighting the unexpected and dangerous situation they faced.

“We ordered an Xbox controller 2 days ago from Amazon and received a live snake in the package,” one of the customers stated. Despite the snake being safely trapped and unable to cause harm, the couple expressed dismay over their ordeal, particularly criticizing Amazon’s handling of the aftermath.

Customer’s Response and Amazon’s Reaction:

The customers recounted their distressing experience, including a frustrating two-hour wait on hold with Amazon’s customer support, during which they had to manage the situation themselves late at night. While they received a full refund, they voiced dissatisfaction with Amazon’s response, citing the lack of compensation or an official apology beyond the refund.

In response to the incident, Amazon tweeted an apology and assured further investigation into the matter. However, the couple remains dissatisfied with what they perceive as insufficient accountability for the serious safety lapse.

Safety Concerns and Accountability:

The incident has raised significant concerns about safety protocols in Amazon’s transportation and warehousing operations. The couple emphasized that such a breach in safety, involving a highly venomous snake, reflects negligence on Amazon’s part and demands stronger measures to ensure customer safety.

As the spectacled cobra has been safely released away from public reach, the focus now shifts to Amazon’s handling of the incident and the broader implications for customer safety. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of stringent safety measures in e-commerce logistics to prevent such alarming occurrences in the future.

Cobra sneaks under cockpit, pilot keeps nerve, makes emergency landing

April 6, 2023, 3:23 pm

South African pilot Rudolf Erasmus has received a lot of accolades from the flight experts for showing his presence of mind in difficult situations. While his plane was in mid-air, a venomous cobra reared its head in the cockpit.

Erasmus, who has five years of experience as a pilot, kept his nerve, and the cobra went down under his seat the moment he saw it.

However, he was flying a small aircraft with four passengers aboard, and the plane was going from Worcester to Nelspruit.

Erasmus clarified his situation of that moment on the website TimeLive.

He further added that “when we performed all the pre-flight procedures on Monday morning, the people at Worcester airfield told us that a Cape Cobra was lying under the wing on Sunday afternoon.” They tried to catch it but failed to do so. It sought refuge inside the engine cowlings. The group opened the cowlings, but the snake was not found; they assumed that it had slipped away somewhere else.

He went on to say that I usually keep a water bottle between my legs and hips towards the side wall of the aircraft. In the meantime, I felt cold, and I thought that there was a leak from my bottle. Then I turned down and looked downward; I found a cobra positioning its head back under my seat.

He said that for the moment, I became stunned. What to do next? Should I tell other passengers? But I didn’t want to create a panic on the plane, so I just announced, “Listen, there is an issue.” A snake is inside the aircraft, so we are going to land as soon as possible.

The flight was close to the airport at Welkom, so Erasmus declared an emergency with the control tower in Johannesburg. “The three passengers in the back came out first, and then the one sitting in front of me,” Erasmus said.
