Some people want to hurt spirituality and religious places and are spreading such rumours (raising questions about the quality of water in Sangam). Uttarakhand Governor Praises Maha Kumbh Arrangements

Uttarakhand Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) also visited Prayagraj on Sunday and praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for guaranteeing smooth arrangements for the major event.

“I commend UP CM Yogi Adityanath and all the officials for creating excellent arrangements. . . I will pray for humanity. . . This experience is beyond expression; it can only be felt,” he remarked.

Yogi Adityanath Rejects Water Contamination Concerns

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath rejected worries about potential “faecal contamination” in the waters of Triveni Sangam.

“Concerns are being expressed regarding the quality of the water (at Triveni). . . All the pipes and the drains in and around Sangam have been sealed, and the water is released only after purification. The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) is consistently evaluating the water quality at Sangam,” Adityanath declared in the UP Assembly on February 19.

Previously, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) presented a report to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) concerning the water quality of rivers based on Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) levels. The report indicated that during the monitoring carried out on January 12-13, 2025, the river water quality failed to meet bathing standards at most locations.

Uttarakhand CM Dhami Reviews Arrangements Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit to 38th National Games in Dehradun

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Dehradun’s Maharana Pratap Stadium on Saturday to assess the arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit for the opening ceremony of the 38th National Games. The ceremony is scheduled for January 28, 2025.

“Before the 38th National Games, we have reviewed all the arrangements here and all the preparations have been completed and now we are waiting for this historic moment,” Dhami told the media after his inspection. “People of the whole country are also waiting for the National Games. It will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and since the state is the host, the people of the state are excited. We are welcoming everyone and it will be a historic event, our Devbhoomi will also be established as a sports land,” he added.

Over 10,000 athletes, coaches, and officials will come from across India for the 38th National Games to be held from January 28 to February 14, 2025. This time, the state will host 38 sports disciplines in different cities in Uttarakhand for the first time after the selection of December 2023.

In addition to that, Uttarakhand is preparing to construct the third largest shooting range in the country at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun ahead of the National Games. This range with 160 targets will be the third biggest one after Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi and MP Shooting Range in Bhopal. This will include 60-60 targets for both 10 and 25 meters and 40 targets for 50-meter ranges. The state is soon to be on its way to being a major venue for national as well as international shooting competitions, by the infrastructure development in place now. The shooting events in the National Games will be held at Maharana Pratap Sports College.

Message for Kedarnath By-Election

Addressing the Kedarnath by-election, CM Dhami appealed to residents of the constituency to exercise their franchise and contribute to the region’s progress.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Dhami wrote, “Dear residents of Kedarnath, it is a humble request to all of you to exercise your valuable right to vote to take the development journey of Kedarnath Assembly to new heights. Your vote will not only strengthen democracy but will also pave the way for overall development and prosperity of the region along with education, health, employment and infrastructure.”

Dhami also expressed optimism about the BJP’s prospects in the Kedarnath constituency, citing a favourable atmosphere for the party.

Voter Turnout Updates

As of 9 am on Wednesday, Maharashtra recorded a voter turnout of 6.61% in its single-phase Assembly elections, while Jharkhand registered a higher turnout of 12.71% in the second phase of its polls, according to the Election Commission of India.

In Maharashtra, the Naxal-affected district of Gadchiroli reported the highest turnout of 12.33%, while Osmanabad recorded the lowest at 4.85%. Kedarnath by-election turnout was reported at 4.30% by 9 am.

Maharashtra and Jharkhand Elections Underway
Voting began at 7 am on Wednesday for 288 Assembly seats in Maharashtra and for the second phase of the Jharkhand elections covering 38 seats. Security arrangements have been tightened to ensure a peaceful polling process. Mock polls were conducted earlier to finalize preparations.

Kedarnath By-Election: A Crucial Contest
The Kedarnath Assembly seat fell vacant following the demise of BJP MLA Shaila Rani Rawat in July. Among six candidates in the fray, the main contest is between BJP’s Asha Nautiyal and Congress’s Manoj Rawat.

Elections Across Other States
Polling also commenced earlier in the day for by-elections in 15 Assembly seats across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, and Uttarakhand. Election officials have worked meticulously to ensure a smooth voting process in all constituencies.

Uttarakhand Government Focused on Developing Villages to Curb Migration: CM Dhami

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized his government’s efforts to develop villages in the state to curb economic migration. Speaking during his two-day visit to Sarkot village in the Gairsain block of Chamoli, CM Dhami highlighted the steps being taken to strengthen rural infrastructure and promote self-reliance.

PM Modi’s Vision of ‘Adarsh Gram’

CM Dhami stated that the state government is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming villages into ‘Adarsh Grams’ (ideal villages). “Effective work is being done to strengthen villages and stop migration,” he said while addressing residents of Sarkot.

The Chief Minister was warmly welcomed by the villagers upon his arrival. During his visit, he offered prayers at the Kot Bhairav temple, seeking prosperity and happiness for the state and the nation.

CM Dhami also visited the family of Havildar Vasudev Singh, a soldier who lost his life during duty in Leh-Ladakh in August this year. He offered his condolences and assured the family of the state’s support. To honor the martyr, the Bhararisain Sarkot road will be named after Vasudev Singh, as announced by the Chief Minister.

Financial Assistance for Local Initiatives

The Chief Minister handed over a cheque of ₹1 lakh to the Sarkot Mahila Mangal Dal for purchasing cultural materials and other resources. He also announced the provision of machines to Mahila Mangal Dal and self-help groups for packaging local products.

Highlighting the government’s efforts to enhance employment opportunities, CM Dhami said the state has implemented strict anti-copying laws to ensure transparency in recruitment exams. “To date, more than 100 cheaters have been jailed under the anti-cheating law, resulting in 18,500 youths securing government jobs and contributing to the state’s development,” he said.

The government is also focusing on promoting self-employment through various schemes to make Uttarakhand a leading state in the country.

CM Dhami Launches 130 Eco-Friendly BS-VI Buses

On Diwali, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched 130 new BS-06 model buses, significantly expanding the state’s transport network. During the event at ISBT Dehradun, Dhami emphasized the importance of accessible and eco-friendly public transport, especially for Uttarakhand’s remote regions. “Our aim is to serve those at the farthest end of society,” he stated, underscoring the buses’ role in connecting distant communities and stimulating economic growth. He also announced a plan to add electric buses, aligning with broader sustainability goals.

These newly launched buses are equipped with advanced technology to ensure a safe, affordable, and comfortable experience. Dhami remarked, “With the addition of these 130 new buses… we are not only providing a safe, convenient, and economical travel experience but also revitalising the economic, social, and tourism activities in the state.” Acknowledging the geographical challenges of Uttarakhand, he highlighted that many rural areas depend heavily on the transport network for essential access.

This initiative also marks a financial turnaround for the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation, which had previously suffered losses exceeding ₹500 crore but has been profitable for the last three years. The Chief Minister praised the Corporation’s officers and employees for this achievement, noting, “The government is consistently working to reinforce the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation.” He added that his vision for this decade is to make it “the decade of Uttarakhand,” focusing on comprehensive development across sectors.

The state’s tourism industry, a cornerstone of its economy, will benefit from the enhanced transport system, which is expected to improve travel convenience and safety. Dhami also highlighted Uttarakhand’s top-ranking position in NITI Aayog’s Sustainable Development Goals index, attributing it to the state’s consistent efforts in economic growth, reduced unemployment, and infrastructure development.

Further, the Chief Minister addressed the welfare of transport staff, announcing Diwali incentives for drivers, conductors, and technical personnel. Uttrakhand CM Dhami faces heat as rift in BJP deepens

The road ahead for BJP is full of challenges after the defeat in the by-elections. After the dissent in the Uttar Pradesh BJP, resentment within the party in the neighbouring Uttarakhand, which had previously been kept under control, is now surfacing. This shift was initiated by former MP and former Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat.

The situation in Uttarakhand is starting to resemble the unrest seen in Uttar Pradesh. The internal conflicts within the Uttarakhand BJP regarding Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami have intensified. Dhami, who was appointed by former Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari, is now facing growing controversy and criticism.

BJP may have won all five seats in the Lok Sabha elections, but the margin of victory decreased significantly. The party lost the by-elections of Manglaur and Badrinath. The lack of coordination and tussle between Chief Minister Dhami and State President Mahendra Bhatt is cited as the reason for the setback. Sources said the high command may soon summon the state leaders to Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi can also ask for a report.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has disappointed his own constituents with his recent statements and decisions. He has also been criticised for his handling of regional issues. The by-elections were Dhami’s first major test. The BJP lost the Manglaur seat, which has a significant Muslim population. The defeat in Badrinath sent a stronger message.
Dhami and Bhatt were confident of their success, but Congress dedicated significant resources to the Badrinath seat, resulting in a shocking defeat for BJP.

The people of Badrinath effectively challenged the political manoeuvring at play.
Uttarakhand has a history of political instability and party-switching, with many BJP ministers currently having origins in Congress. The state’s small size has historically fostered a political environment rife with corruption, with liquor and mining mafias influencing successive governments. The Ankita Bhandari murder case, which emerged under Dhami’s leadership, cast a shadow over the BJP government’s effectiveness. This case also became a major issue during the Lok Sabha elections. Despite these challenges, the party managed to secure Lok Sabha seats largely due to Prime Minister Modi’s strong personal image.

Dhami became the first Chief Minister of the state despite losing election from Khatima. But the high command, considering his clean image, made him the CM again and made him contest the by-election. In a way, Delhi gave the message that Dhami is the leader of the future. All the senior leaders were sidelined. In the Lok Sabha elections, former Chief Ministers Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Tirath Singh Rawat were denied tickets.
After Dhami became the Chief Minister, Garhwal was completely neglected. Dhami is from Kumaon and the central minister Ajay Tamta is also from Kumaon.

The Opposition alleges that there is discrimination in terms of development in Garhwal. Whereas in Uttarakhand, which has 70 assembly seats, 42 seats come from Garhwal. There are three Lok Sabha seats from Garhwal and two from Kumaon. Due to the fear of Delhi’s blessings on Dhami, no leader was ever able to speak openly. But after the results of the Lok Sabha elections and the defeat in the by-elections, the resentment of the leaders started coming out in the changed circumstances.

Former CM Tirath Singh Rawat in the BJP working committee meeting reprimanded the BJP leadership and Dhami in gestures. He gave a message in a way that imposing will not work and it is not known when the chair will be lost. The more questions Rawat raised, the more leaders clapped. Experts believe that the high command should intervene soon in the matter of Uttarakhand. CM Dhami has been surrounded by controversies since the foundation stone laying of Kedarnath temple in Delhi and the speeches given there.

Since the formation of Uttarakhand, Narayan Dutt Tiwari is the only Chief Minister who has completed a full five-year term. No other Chief Minister has managed to serve a full term. The BJP has always faced internal conflicts, and tensions between Kumaon and Garhwal regions have persisted. Dhami was appointed as Chief Minister in the final months leading up to the elections. Prior to Dhami, Trivendra Singh Rawat and Tirath Singh Rawat served as Chief Ministers. Although Dhami was in office during the 2022 assembly elections, he lost. While the BJP won two consecutive elections thanks to Prime Minister Modi’s popularity, the current situation has become increasingly concerning.

The yearly calendar, “Strong Leadership Prosperous Uttarakhand,” created by the Information and Public Relations Department, was unveiled by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday in honor of Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha ceremony.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami offered prayers at the temple located in his government residence and said that after 500 years of a long struggle, “I am extremely elated to be a witness to this grand festival.”

CM Dhami offered prayers and then carried out “Gau Sewa.” The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand continued by saying that he prays to Lord Ram for the well-being of all Sanatanis residing worldwide as well as the prosperity of the state’s citizens. At their Dehradun home on Sunday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and his spouse created a floral rangoli. All residents of the state should joyfully celebrate this holy “Pran Pratistha,” according to Chief Minister Dhami.

Earlier, addressing the ‘Ram Shobha Yatra’ organised by Shri Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Utsav Committee from Parade Ground here on Saturday, Dhami said that the day of Pran Pratishtha has not come so easily.
“This day has not come so easily; for this day, several mothers lost their sons, and several sisters lost their brothers. We are truly blessed to have been able to witness this day,” he said.

Govt is taking steps to make women strong, self-reliant: CM Dhami

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday said that his government is taking steps to make women strong and self-reliant in the state adding that many women have become self-reliant by joining self-help groups across the country.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Matrishakti Utsav program organized at Kedareshwar Maidan in the Kapkot development block of Bageshwar district on Tuesday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development schemes of various departments worth about Rs 100 crore. This includes the inauguration of 11 different schemes worth Rs 19 crore and the laying of foundation stone of 26 schemes worth Rs 81 crore.

The Chief Minister also said that in Uttarakhand, the state government has imposed an interim ban on the indiscriminate purchase of land by outsiders in the name of agriculture and horticulture.

“This ban has been imposed on land mafias and those who buy land with wrong intentions. If any business buys land for industry or any other startup, that will benefit the local people, then it is welcome in Uttarakhand.

Addressing the program, the Chief Minister mentioned the establishment of a drug addiction centre in the Bageshwar district.
During the program, the Chief Minister visited the stalls set up by various departments and self-help groups. The Chief Minister himself also made artefacts in copper vessels and ringal baskets.

On the occasion, he also honoured the brave women of martyrs by worshipping mother power under the slogan Strong Mother Power, Strong Uttarakhand.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the contribution of mother power in the creation of Uttarakhand state cannot be forgotten.

“Mother power takes care of her family as well as the interests of the society and the state. The overall development of a society or nation is possible only with the help of mother power. Hard work and motherly power complement each other. If the mother power of a nation is educated, the present and future of that nation remains secure,” he said.

“The daughters illuminate two houses each with their knowledge. In Indian culture, doing ‘Kanyadaan’ is considered the greatest virtue, but we all should also do ‘Vidya Daan’ before ‘Kanyadaan’,” he added.

The Chief Minister said that the stalls set up by various women’s groups and the products displayed in this program are working to implement the mantra of “Self-reliant India” given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Today, women are becoming self-reliant by joining self-help groups across the country. Even in Uttarakhand, the sisters of women self-help groups have done unprecedented work in every field. Many works are being done by the state government to make women strong and self-reliant in the state,” he said.

“By adopting the principle of “convenience as well as security”, revolutionary changes have been made in the field of women empowerment,” he added.

The Chief Minister said that along with giving 30 per cent reservation to women in government jobs, the state government has also launched the Chief Minister Women Empowerment Scheme, Chief Minister Mahalakshmi Scheme, Lakhpati Didi Scheme, Chief Minister Aanchal Amrit Scheme, Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme, Chief Minister Minority Meritorious Scheme, Nanda Gaura Matrivandana Scheme.

The Chief Minister said that the state government, along with implementing the country’s toughest anti-copying law in Uttarakhand, also made a law to stop religious conversion, for the first time in the state, action was taken against encroachment on government land on a large scale, against the corrupt.

“Continuous action is also going on. The state government is also preparing to implement the Uniform Civil Code of Conduct in Uttarakhand,” CM said.

Uniform Civil Code of Conduct in Devbhoomi soon: CM Pushkar Singh Dhami

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Sunday that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be soon introduced in the state, with plans to present it in the Assembly shortly. Speaking at the Shashtipurti Mahotsav of Sadhvi Ritambhara in Mathura, CM Dhami expressed the state’s commitment to implementing the Uniform Civil Code of Conduct in Devbhoomi.

The Uniform Civil Code is a proposal aimed at creating and enforcing personal laws that would be applicable uniformly to all citizens, irrespective of their religion, gender, or sexual orientation. The Uttarakhand Cabinet, chaired by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, approved the decisions made by a five-member panel tasked with drafting the Uniform Civil Code on December 22. The committee, led by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, is yet to submit its detailed report to the government.

The implementation of the UCC was a promise made to the people of Uttarakhand during the lead-up to the 2022 assembly polls. Article 44 of the Indian Constitution advocates for the establishment of a Uniform Civil Code throughout the nation, covering aspects such as marriage, inheritance, adoption, and more.

PM Narendra Modi reignited discussions on the UCC during an address in Bhopal, emphasizing that the country cannot function with two sets of laws. He argued that the Uniform Civil Code aligns with the foundational principles and ideals of the Constitution.

CM Dhami Pays Tribute to 1971 War Martyrs, Announces Upcoming Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Tribute Ceremony’ on Vijay Diwas at Martyr Memorial Gandhi Park, Dehradun. During the event, CM Dhami expressed pride in the historic victory of the Indian Army in 1971, leading to the surrender of 93,000 Pakistani soldiers. He also announced the upcoming implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, stating that the state aims to lead the country in implementing this law.

Vijay Diwas marks the victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 war against Pakistan, resulting in the creation of Bangladesh. On this day, various events and ceremonies are held across the country to honour the sacrifices of the soldiers who fought in the war.

In addition to Uttarakhand, soldiers and military officials from various states, including Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal, paid tributes to the fallen heroes of the 1971 war on Vijay Diwas. Silkyara tunnel rescue: Pipe laying work completed, evacuation soon says CM Dhami

According to Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, the pipe-laying operation inside the Silkyara tunnel, where efforts are being made to free 41 trapped workers, has been completed.

“With the blessing of Baba Baukh Nag Ji, prayers of crores of countrymen and the tireless work of the rescue teams engaged in the rescue operation, the work of laying pipes in the tunnel to take out the workers has been completed. Soon all the labourers will be taken out,” CM Dhami said in a post on X.

During a press briefing earlier today, the Nodal Officer for the Silkyara rescue operation and Secretary to the Uttarakhand government, Neeraj Khairwal, also said that if there are no more hurdles, the rescuers are anticipating an early evacuation of the trapped labourers.
Meanwhile, ambulances, NDRF personnel, SDRF and several other agencies have been deployed at the entrance of the tunnel. The NDRF team will be going inside the tunnel to bring out the trapped labourers one by one, as per official sources.
Micro tunnelling expert Chris Cooper said that the vertical drilling works have been stopped and they are focusing on manual drilling which is progressing on a swift pace.
He added that the team is expecting to see some results by evening around 5 pm.

Airi has been imprisoned in the Silkyara tunnel for the past fifteen days. The 41 workers who became stuck in the Silkyara tunnel on the Uttarkashi-Yamnotri road are still being rescued. Regarding the ongoing rescue efforts, Chief Medical Officer Dhami stated that the auger machine cutting that became lodged in the Silkyara tunnel debris in order to free the workers is in progress and should be finished shortly. He stated that after the auger machine was cut and removed, manual drilling would start.

“The plasma machine that has been brought from Hyderabad has started working since this morning. The cutting is going on rapidly. 14 metres more remain (to be cut),” he said.
“The auger machine has to be cut and brought out. It seems that it will be completed soon, within a few more hours. After that, manual drilling will begin,” CM Dhami added.
A plasma cutter machine was flown from Hyderabad to cut the auger machine early this morning.

In addition, the Indian Air Force said earlier today that it had rushed “critical DRDO equipment” to Dehradun in order to expedite the current rescue effort. According to official sources, a protective canopy is being erected inside the Silkyara tunnel to provide cover for the rescue crew. In addition, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has intervened to give the 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel a landline so they can communicate with their families as part of efforts to reassure them and reduce their stress.

Despite this setback, the machine has been repaired, and efforts are underway to push the pipe through the debris. The rescue operation involves drilling through a 60-meter stretch of debris to reach the trapped workers, who are confined in a 2 km-built portion of the tunnel.

Former advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office, Bhaskar Khulbe, noted that a 2-meter part of the inserted pipe had to be cut off due to compression caused by friction during drilling. The operation faced a brief halt when cracks developed in the platform supporting the drilling machine. However, repairs have been carried out, and authorities aim to resume and expedite the drilling process. The trapped workers may be extricated soon, providing relief to the ongoing rescue efforts.

According to a statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office on Thursday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi and prayed to the Baukh Nag Devta for the safety of all the trapped workers. Inquiring about their well-being and informing them of the swift rescue effort underway to safely extract them, CM Dhami reportedly spoke with two of the workers stranded in the tunnel under construction in Silkyara, Uttarkashi: Gabbar Singh Negi and Saba Ahmed.

The statement mentioned that both the workers while speaking to CM Dhami, informed that all the other workers were healthy and safe.
CM Dhami said that he also informed the workers about Prime Minister Narendra Modi continuously taking information about the situation and monitoring the rescue operations.

The chief minister of Uttarakhand also assured the stranded laborers that rescue efforts were proceeding appropriately and that they would all soon be reunited with their families. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Chief Minister Dhami earlier in the day to inquire about the status of the ongoing rescue effort for the 41 workers who have been stuck at the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi since November 12.

The 41 workers who have been stuck in the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi since last week were the subject of a phone conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday. PM Modi stated in a statement released by the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) that the workers will be safely evacuated with cooperation between the central and Uttarakhand governments, and that the central government is providing the required rescue tools and resources. The PM went on to say that it’s important to keep the stranded workers’ morale high.

Early this morning, heavy machines were seen arriving at the Silkyara tunnel on the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri national highway collapsed that had collapsed in the early hours of November 12.
The Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is all set to initiate work on a vertical pipeline to provide essential items, facilitated by the completed approach road by Border Roads Organisation in just one day.
Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL) is also all geared up for vertical drilling for which equipment was mobilized from Gujarat and Odisha through Railways as the 75-ton equipment could not be airlifted.
Secretary, Union Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways, Anurag Jain had on Sunday said that a five-point action plan to rescue the trapped workers.
National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHDCL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVNL), Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited (THDC) and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) have been assigned one option each.The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and the construction wing of the Indian Army have also been assisting in the rescue operation.

Uttarakhand tunnel collapse: CM Dhami to conduct rescue operations on-site today

Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami will examine the operations on the ground on Sunday amid the continuing efforts to free the workers trapped in the Uttarkashi tunnel, a section of which collapsed earlier, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) announced in a statement. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will accompany the chief minister when he visits the tunnel site on Sunday.

“Along with the Chief Minister, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is also arriving to take stock of the relief and rescue work,” the CMO added in its statement.

On Saturday, a former advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) took stock of the relief operations at the under-construction Silkyara Tunnel located on the Uttarkashi-Yamnotri road.

The local administration on Saturday informed that it would deploy a tree-cutting expert as part of the ongoing efforts to extricate 40 workers trapped inside the tunnel for seven days now.

A tree-cutting expert, Ashiq Hussain, was called by the Forest Department to the tunnel site, officials said on Saturday.

Officials added that they were trying to reach the workers through vertical drilling from the upper part of the tunnel.

Additionally, Chris Cooper, a specialist in microtunnelling, arrived at the Silkyara tunnel incident site on Saturday to supervise and monitor the rescue effort. Cooper is a chartered engineer with extensive experience completing major international civil engineering projects, including railways, mining projects, large caverns, metro tunnels, and dams.

Radhakrishnan was born as Sarvepalli Radhakrishnayya into a Telugu-speaking family of Sarvepalli Veeraswami and Sithamma. He was the second born of three siblings in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu.
After Radhakrishnan became the President of India, some of his students and friends requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday, on 5 September.
His birthday has since been celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India.

A philosopher-author and India’s second President, he was born on September 5, 1888. His contribution to the field of education is exemplary.

Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami engaged in public interaction in the Garur village of the Bageshwar district. Official sources claim that CM Dhami patiently listened to the villagers as they discussed their problems.

He also informed the locals of what his government was doing for their betterment.
The bypoll in Bageshwar was necessitated after the Assembly segment fell vacant following the death of sitting MLA Chandan Ram Das, who was also the minister for Transport and Social Welfare in the Dhami government.
Das passed away on April 23 after a sudden cardiac arrest.
He represented the Bageshwar constituency for four consecutive terms since 2007. Upon his demise, the state government declared three days of official mourning.

CM Dhami : Free bus service for women passengers in Uttarakhand on Raksha Bandhan

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi), women in the state will be able to take advantage of free rides on state-run buses, according to an announcement made by the chief minister on Wednesday. A formal announcement from the chief minister’s office states that from 12 p.m. on August 30 to 12 a.m. on August 31, women in the state will be able to ride city buses for free.

“Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, it has been decided to make free travel of mothers and sisters in buses operated by the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation from 12 noon on August 30 to 12 midnight on August 31,” the statement said.
It further said that women can avail of free travel facilities in Uttarakhand Transport Corporation buses passing through Uttarakhand and other states.
This year, Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on the night of August 30 and the festival of Rakhi will not be celebrated the entire day or in the morning hours like previous years, but rather during the night hours.

The festival of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated every year in India to honor the unbreakable bond between brothers and sisters. To mark the occasion, sisters tie Rakhi to their sibling’s wrist. CM Dhami :’27 policies have been adopted at state level for youth employment’ in Uttarakhand

According to Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, industrial companies in the capital have expressed a desire to invest in the state and up to 27 policies have been adopted at the state level to promote youth employment. “We had a conversation with the industrial group leaders in Delhi. They mentioned wanting to make investments in Uttarakhand. Investors can thrive in this state’s ideal environment. We have made 27 policies on the state level which are convenient to industries. This will generate employment for the youth within the state,” said the Chief Minister.

CM Dhami to meet union ministers in Delhi to seek assistance for disaster relief in Uttarakhand

In order to seek help for the damages brought on by the state’s heavy rainfall, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will meet with Union Minister RK Singh and other ministers here in the national capital, according to officials on Sunday.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), “In the meeting with the Union Ministers, the Chief Minister will request central assistance for the state. He will also discuss the damages brought on by heavy rainfall in the state.”
Earlier on Friday, CM Dhami held a review meeting of centrally funded schemes and externally aided projects at the secretariat.
Chief Minister Dhami said, “100 per cent of the funds received from the central government under the centrally funded schemes run in the state should be spent on development works.”

The Chief Minister gave the go-ahead for the establishment of a monitoring cell at the government level for the purpose of overseeing centrally funded programs, as well as for routine monitoring of the work being carried out by the departments following the department’s submission and approval of a proposal to the central government.

The Chief Minister further said, “If any department is facing any problem for the successful implementation of the schemes under centrally sponsored schemes, then the Chief Minister’s office should be informed about the problem immediately. To solve the problem, a solution will be found by holding a meeting with the concerned officials.”
The CM also gave instructions to ensure that the file does not unnecessarily remain pending in the government after the funds have been sanctioned by the Central Government under various development schemes. Departmental secretaries should release the sanctioned amount from their level.

CM Dhami : Pilgrims should proceed on Char Dham after taking weather update

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, stated on Wednesday that the disaster control center had looked at the state’s rainfall situation. According to officials, the CM also advised Char Dham pilgrims to continue traveling after getting a weather update. CM Dhami said in an exclusive interview with ANI on Wednesday that several areas had become submerged in water as a result of the state’s heavy rainfall and that the SDRF and NDRF personnel had been deployed on the ground to conduct the rescue operations. He further advised pilgrims to wait to leave until the weather was safe to do so.

The Uttarakhand CM told ,“Many places are submerged in water. We analysed the situation in the disaster control room and also talked to the Delhi authority. SDRF and NDRF are present on the ground. We don’t want to leave any shortfall in the rescue process. I request all the pilgrims to start the journey after taking the information of the weather.”

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in popularizing Mana’s “Bhoj Patra” among pilgrims while listening to the 103rd episode of the PM’s “Mann ki Baat” with the PM’s “Swanidhi” family at the CM’s residence on Sunday.

CM Dhami announced on Twitter that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mentioned the letter written by the women of Chamoli district’s Neeti-Mana valley during today’s “Mann Ki Baat” program. Pilgrims are coming here and purchasing both local goods and goods made of “Bhoj Patra” at competitive prices as a result of the PM Modi’s appeal to the country’s first village, Mana.

“‘Bhoj Patra’ is a part of the ancient heritage of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Our government is continuously working towards preserving and promoting all the cultural heritage of the state”, the Uttarakhand CM added.
Mana village is located in Uttarakhand. It is proximate to the Indo-Tibetan border.

“The women and sisters of Uttarakhand have given a lot of blessings to their son and brother (PM Modi). They wrote that they had never imagined that ‘Bhoj Patra’, which has been their cultural heritage, could become a source of their livelihood”, said Prime Minister Modi.

“These letters have been written to me by the women of Niti-Mana valley in the Chamoli district,” continued Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These are the ladies who gave me a special piece of art depicting Bhojpatra in October of last year.

Uttarakhand: CM Dhami departs for Chamoli to meet families of those killed due to electrocution

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, traveled to Chamoli on Thursday to meet the grieving families of those electrocuted on the banks of the Alaknanda River and killed or injured as a result.

The Chief Minister would also conduct an on-spot inspection. As per the officials, 16 people died on Wednesday after they came in contact with the railing of an electrified bridge above the Alaknanda River in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district.
Rescue teams reached the spot yesterday. Six injured were airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh. Relief and rescue works are being done by the government and the administration.

Chief Minister Dhami had left for Chamoli as soon as he got information about the incident but had to return due to bad weather. After that, the CM went to AIIMS Rishikesh to inquire about the condition of the injured.

The CM said that 16 casualties have been reported due to electrocution in Chamoli district.
He wished speedy recovery of the injured. The Chief Minister also obtained information from the doctors of AIIMS regarding the proper treatment of the injured. He also expected the doctors to leave no stone unturned in the treatment of the injured.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Chamoli has been ordered for a magisterial inquiry into the incident. While fixing responsibility, strict action will be taken against those found guilty and negligent.

Chief Minister Dhami has given instructions to provide Rs 5 lakh each to the dependents of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to the injured without any delay in the Chamoli incident.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah called CM Dhami and inquired about the Chamoli incident. Giving information about the situation, the Chief Minister said that orders for a magisterial inquiry have been given. The injured have been brought to AIIMS Rishikesh by helicopter. The Prime Minister’s Office has also been given complete information about the incident.

The Chief Minister directed that along with a detailed inquiry into the incident, those responsible for the negligence found in it would not be spared at any cost. All the seriously injured were taken to AIIMS Rishikesh for treatment by helicopter. The injured admitted to AIIMS, Rishikesh is Mahesh Kumar, Narendra Lal, Anand, Sushil Kumar, Sandeep Mehra, and PRD Ramchandra.

In addition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved Rs 2 lakh for the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those seriously hurt from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) after a transformer explosion on the banks of the Alaknanda River resulted in 16 electrocuted deaths and numerous injuries.

Harela Festival: Uttarakhand CM Dhami plants saplings

On the eve of the Harela festival, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami planted saplings at his residence on Sunday.

“Harela means greenery. This festival is an indicator of greenery and the beginning of the new season. Sawan begins with the Harela festival in Uttarakhand”, said CM Dhami.

Furthermore, stating the significance of the festival, Geeta Dhami, wife of Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “This festival is also celebrated as the marriage of Shiva and Parvati. Five or seven types of grains are sown in the basket 9 days before the Harela festival and it is harvested on the day of Harela.”

“It is believed that the bigger the Harela, the more profit the farmer will get in agriculture”, she added.

Harela is an annual celebration held in Uttarakhand on July 16. Notably, the state is also hosting the yearly Kanwar. It began on July 4th.

The ‘Kanwar Yatra’ is an annual pilgrimage for devotees of Lord Shiva. Kanwariyas travel to Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, Gaumukh, and Gangotri, as well as Bihar’s Sultanganj, to collect holy Ganga water and then worship the God with it.
