Parth Samthaan to Exit CID Amid Dropping TRP; Shivaji Satam’s Comeback?

Viewers of CID were initially taken aback, dismayed, and even thrilled when Parth Samthaan took over for Shivaji Satam earlier this year. Shivaji, who played ACP Pradyuman for years, was done away with after his death and brought in Parth, who played the part of ACP Ayushman. While Parth’s act has been lauded, Money Control now reports that the TRP of the show has taken a hit as a result of the transition.

In spite of CID also being streamed on Netflix, its ratings appear to have faltered, prompting the producers to contemplate bringing Shivaji Satam back as ACP Pradyuman to enhance ratings. This has raised rumors whether Parth Samthaan may quit the show. But Filmibeat broke the news that the news regarding Parth’s exit may be untrue. A source from the entertainment portal stated, “The rumours of Parth leaving might be false. The makers need to realize that the freely available CID 2 on internet and IPL 2025’s competition have intensely impacted the TRPs of the show. Leaving just Shivaji Satam behind was a marketing strategy; we need to wait for some days to get to know the right picture.”

Nothing has been announced officially by either Parth Samthaan or the makers of any information of his possible leaving or Shivaji Satam returning.

In an earlier interview, Parth spoke about his initial apprehensions about taking up the character of ACP Ayushman. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, he confessed, “At first, I denied the role of ACP Pradyuman, because I don’t identify with it. The makers requested me to change my mind. I was also hesitant because of the long-running cast of the show and the fact that they would have to address me as ‘sir’ on camera. It seemed slightly odd and uncomfortable.”

Bangladesh MP’s Murder: Bangladesh Police Unveils New Details In The Case

Amidst the ongoing high-profile Bangladesh MP’s murder case, Bangladesh detective department chief Harun-ur-Rashid has recently announced, that they have found the circumstantial evidence.

They will further inspect the sewage line, which is connected to the murder site duplex apartment.

“We inspected the sewage line which is connected with that duplex flat (place of occurrence of the murder) with the help of West Bengal CID… also took help from CID West Bengal to break the whole sewage line. We are already interrogating the accused butcher at the CID West Bengal headquarters.” said Harun-ur-Rashid to media.

In addition, he also announced, that they have got digital evidence and will record the statement of accused butcher.

Later, after the investigation, they matched the statement with Bangladeshi’s accused.

Earlier, Harun-ur-rashid came to Kolkata on sunday afternoon, with police team and said, that the killing of MP Anas is “cold-blooded” and “barbaric.”

The detective chief further announced, he came to India, to collaborate with both interpol and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to enhance their efforts in catching prime suspect behind Bangladesh MP’s murder.

In a major development related to the Bangladesh MP’s murder case, the chief of Bangladesh’s detective department, Harun-or-Rashid, has recently announced that the main conspirator, Akhtaruzzaman, may have fled to the US via Kathmandu and Dubai.

Later, discussing his plans, Harun-or-Rashid is thinking of collaborating with Interpol and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to apprehend the suspect.

Meanwhile, to delve deeper into the investigation, a team of Bangladeshi detectives arrived in India.

After arriving in the country, they interacted with the reporters and said,

“The main conspirator, Akhtaruzzaman, may have escaped from Kathmandu to the US via Dubai… We are trying to trace him through Interpol and will go to the CID office. We will have a meeting with the officers of CID….will try to interrogate the arrested accused so that we can get more information,” said Harun-or-Rashid upon landing at Kolkata Airport on Sunday.

Why Did the Detective Arrive in India?

However, when discussing the complexity of this case, he mentioned that his visit to India was to examine the crime scene, analyze CCTV footage, and interrogate the arrested suspects to gather more information.

Earlier, CID had recently declared that they had arrested one of the suspects in this case, who is a butcher.

Confessing to the deed during the interrogation, he was the one who had taken off all the skin, minced it, and chopped the parts of the body to hide its identity.

Issuing the statement, the police stated,

“The assailants brought a butcher named Jihad (alias Siam), who had been living in Mumbai illegally for many years. Two months ago, he was brought to Kolkata by an American citizen of Bangladeshi origin, Akhtaruzzaman Shaheen. This Shaheen is the mastermind of this planned heinous murder….”Then, they removed all the flesh from the body in the flat and minced it to destroy his identity, and then they put everything in polythene packs. They also chopped the bones into small pieces. They then took those packets out of the flat and dropped them around Kolkata and surrounding areas using different modes of transport, the police said in their statement on Thursday.

So far, the Bangladesh Police has arrested three persons in connection with this case.

Bomb threat to Bengaluru schools: Parents need not panic as security has been bolstered, says Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah

Bomb threats scared Bengaluru’s schools, but authorities like Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah intervened without delay. They pledged to inspect everything and ensure the security of every child. On several schools in Bengaluru received bomb threats, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah says, ‘Police will investigate, and I have directed them to do so. Concerned about bomb threats at nearby schools, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar contacted the authorities right away. After receiving the threatening email, he was worried. Money trail very clear, says Andhra CID on Naidu’s arrest

In the midst of demonstrations over the arrest of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chairman N Chandrababu Naidu, the Additional DG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Sanjay, said on Wednesday that the money trail in the multi-crore skill development scam is “very clear.”

According to the Andhra CID, it is a “very clear case of government funds transferred and the project of purpose never happened.”

“In this case, a government corporation was formed and it was exclusively formed for this purpose of skill development and the proposal was moved by some private individuals…The money trail is very clearly seen,” the additional DG of CID told news agency.

He added, “You see the role of the ED also in this when they moved in and arrested a few people. So this is a very clear case of government money being transferred and the project itself never happened… How the money went into shell companies and all, is again part of the investigation. So further investigation will reveal the exact end-to-end tie-ups.”

On September 9, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada ordered the TDP chairman to be held in judicial detention for 14 days in connection with an alleged skill development corporation scam.

The Andhra Pradesh high court adjourned on Wednesday Naidu’s petition to quash the charges brought against him. The court, however, ordered that the CID not take Naidu into prison until September 18.

Former Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu reaches Rajamundry central jail

N Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), arrived at Rajamundry Central Jail in the early hours of Monday after being remanded to judicial custody in connection with a corruption case. The former CM has been assigned an upper block in the Sneha Wing of the jail to live in until further proceedings, according to the police, where they will be joined by prisoner number 7691. Nara Lokesh, the TDP leader’s son, and other party officials also made it to the central jail. To preserve law and order in the community, Rajamundry has been subject to a prohibitory act imposed by the East Godavari district police.

Prior to the former CM’s remand, Rajamundry Central jail had already been heavily police-secured. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has declared a state of bandh due to the party chief’s arrest on Monday. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada ordered Naidu held in judicial custody until September 23 in relation to an alleged Skill Development Corporation scam. The Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday in connection with a purported corruption case.

According to the officials, the case relates to the establishment of Centers of Excellence (CoE) clusters in the state of Andhra Pradesh, with a total estimated project value of Rs 3300 crore. Additionally, according to agency representatives, the alleged fraud cost the state government more than Rs 300 crores in losses. According to the CID, the investigation has uncovered serious irregularities, such as the fact that the previous state government gave an advance of Rs 371 crores—the full 10% commitment by the government—before any expenditure by private entities.

CID takes over probe into BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari’s convoy accident

West Bengal : On 4th May, a man was reportedly hit by a car of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari’s convoy, resulting in his death in Chandipur village, incident has now been handed over to the CID.

38 people arrested, two cases registered in Howrah violence

A total of 38 people have been arrested in connection with West Bengal’s Howrah violence during a Ram Navami procession, police said on Saturday.

Howrah Commissioner of Police Praveen Tripathi said that two other cases had also been registered following the incident. “I want to tell the public that there is no need to be scared; the situation is under control and is normal now. “38 people have been arrested, and two cases have been filed.”

He further said that Section 144 has been imposed in a few areas while “area dominance exercises are being conducted by the police to build confidence in the people.” Amid the political furor, the Mamata Banerjee government on Friday handed over the probe of the Howrah violence to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

A special team led by the Inspector General of Police, CID Sunil Choudhary, has initiated the investigation. The situation turned violent in the Shibpur area of Howrah with fresh violence on Friday, a day after the arson on Ram Navami.

Nagaland CID unit arrests two persons for carrying illegal alcohol

Investigation is being carried out in death of Russians in Odisha, says MEA

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said, the probe is underway in three Russian nationals’ death cases in India and asked not to link deaths of three Russian nationals in India.

“Necessary investigation is being carried out in death of Russians in Odisha. We are now aware of the death of a Russian sailor in international waters off the coast of Odisha. His body has been brought to Paradip Port for formalities. I wouldn’t like to link all three cases together,” said MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi during said.

Meanwhile, Bagchi said he wouldn’t like to link all of them together nor look at it all together. “India is a large country where a lot of foreigners visit,” Bagchi stated.

Amid an ongoing investigation, Bagchi said there is “no reason to link” all three cases as the circumstance of the deaths is investigated by the Odisha government.

After the third Russian national MEA spokesperson’s remarks came. The third Russian national used to work as a chief engineer in a cargo ship and on the coast of Odisha he was found dead.

Moreover, within two weeks the third Russian was found dead in the state. Earlier, two Russian nationals were found dead at the Sai International hotel in Rayagada Odisha Police Crime Branch has arrived to investigate the death.

Two arrested with 19 kg drugs in Mizoram

A large quantity of Methamphetamine, a recreational drug has been seized by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Mizoram police on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the police on Friday said two people have been arrested in Aizawl worth Rs 58 crore.

Moreover, from a vehicle in the Luangmual area in Aizawl, a team of CID (SB) seized 2 lakh tablets of Methamphetamine weighing about 19.223 kg based on a specific intelligence input from a sister agency.

“The estimated value of the seized drug is Rs 58 crore in the international market, and it was seized from a four-wheeler in the Luangmual area of Aizawl, and arrested two persons,” Police said.

The accused who have been arrested are identified as Shalim Uddin (26) and Aliqur Rohman (21) who hail from Karimganj, Assam.

However, under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 a case has been registered at the Special Narcotics police station.

Furthermore, to trace the source officials are investigating the case from whom the accused had arranged the contraband.

Another police official seized in PSI scam in Karnataka

As part of its investigation into the police sub-inspector (PSI) recruitment scam, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested a second police official who functioned as a middleman.

Since the scam was found, the culprit, K Subramanya, a sub-inspector employed by the KR Puram traffic station, has been on the run. According to officials who didn’t disclose more information, CID agents located him and arrested him at a place in northern India.

Hailing from Kolar, Subramanya joined the service in 2016 and was working in the K.R. Puram station for three years. He was close to the prime accused deputy SP Shanth Kumar and first division assistant Harsha from the recruitment wing. Using his proximity, he clinched a deal and played the role of the middleman between two candidates and Shanth Kumar and Harsha, CID officials said

To determine his precise role, the accused has been brought before the court and held for 10 days.

On April 9, the CID opened an investigation after learning that a small number of applicants had falsified their scores in the PSI recruitment common entry test (CET).

A Karnataka high court divisional bench issued an interim injunction last week asking that the state government refrain from announcing the dates of a re-examination for the recruitment of 545 police sub-inspector posts.

The government’s statement that the recruiting examination would be retaken was opposed by three candidates from Kolar, who submitted a petition that served as the basis for the order.

Amrit Paul, the additional director general of police, had a new charge sheet filed against him by CID in the final week of September (ADGP). Paul is the first ADGP, who holds the second-highest position in the police hierarchy, to be detained in relation to a state-wide corruption investigation.

When Paul’s name came up in the continuing investigation into the PSI case, where money was received from applicants to enable them to cheat during their examinations or for tampering with their answer sheets after the exam, CID detained Paul, who was in charge of the police recruitment cell in Karnataka.

A senior officer said the additional charge sheet has seven volumes of 1,406 pages with 78 documents and 38 witnesses.

According to the allegations, DySP Shanthakumar, accused number 31 in the case, handed Paul 1.5 crore. In order to tamper with a few OMR sheets, Paul had handed him the keys to the almirah in the safe room.

Paul is the 35th defendant listed in the case filed with the High Grounds police station. Paul was arrested on July 4 and later suspended. Paul was arrested in accordance with sections 409 of the Indian Penal Code (criminal breach of trust by a public official, banker, merchant, or agent), 406 of the same code (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 of the same code (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 and 469 of the same code (forgery for the purpose of harming reputation), 461 of the same code (dishonestly breaking open receptacle containing property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
