Hygge embodies a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life. Lighting candles, wrapping up in a soft blanket with a good book, or sharing a homemade meal with loved ones – these are all examples of hygge. This philosophy encourages us to find joy and fulfilment in our immediate surroundings, challenging the notion that we need to travel far and wide to find happiness or meaningful experiences. By embracing hygge, we might discover that the contentment we seek through travel has been within our reach all along, nestled in the familiar corners of our own homes.

Lead researcher Cicero Moraes described Saint Nicholas’s face as “strong and gentle.” The reconstruction showed a very broad, robust face with dimensions surprising how well they fit the 1823 poem ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. “This characteristic, added to a thick beard, fits the image many retain of Santa Claus,” said Moraes.

How the Scientists Reconstructed His Face

The research team utilised data gathered in 1950 by Luigi Martino, who had examined the saint’s skull. This data was used to create a 3D digital model of the skull. “We then traced the facial profile using statistical projections and anatomical deformation techniques,” Moraes explained. These methods involved adjusting the tomography of a living person’s head to match the saint’s skull, ensuring anatomical and statistical accuracy.

The final image is an integration of all the facts presented, giving a historically and scientifically coherent image of Saint Nicholas.

Between October and December 25th, over 2.5 lakh tourists visited just two historical sites in Jaipur—Nahargarh Fort and Albert Hall—underscoring the tourism boom. The surge in tourist numbers has contributed significantly to the state’s economy, with Jaipur generating an estimated revenue of Rs 30-40 crore during this season.

Mahendra Khadgawat, Director of the Rajasthan Archeology and Museum Department, highlighted the substantial increase in tourism and anticipated further growth in January.
