</excerpt>

A Bengaluru-based startup UX design intern has made headlines after she recounted her harrowing experience of office harassment at the hands of the firm’s CEO. In a meticulous Reddit post by user @akclone, the young woman went into details of the sexism, public humiliation, and emotional trauma she faced while working in what had started as a dream job.

In her last year of a Master’s degree, the intern moved to Bengaluru for an internship program where she was the solo designer and directly reported to the CEO. But soon, things took a dark turn.

While doing her thesis, the CEO questioned her commitment, suggesting in public if she had come ‘to work or have fun with your boyfriend’. He also accused her of not doing any actual work. Though embarrassed, she asked for another opportunity and was eventually offered a permanent job.

Toxic Culture and Sexist Comments

After transitioning into a permanent role, the environment worsened. When she requested work-from-home days to finish her college project, the CEO denied her request and later berated her in front of the entire office, blaming her for the company’s underperformance.

It was her understanding that the CEO would habitually target women and regularly embarrass them in front of others. In one scary moment, when she stayed away from the team so that she was not exposed to sexist remarks, the CEO came over and asked, “Porn dekh rahi ho kya?” (Are you watching porn?), making her shocked and very uncomfortable.

I stayed in a toxic startup for 1.5 years because I thought I wasn’t capable of better. I was wrong.
byu/akclone inIndianWorkplace

Final Straw Before Resignation

Her breaking point arrived when she asked about appraisals. The CEO allegedly informed her that her position as a designer was no longer needed and that she could stay only if she generated business. He informed her that she was ‘not built to grow’.

She eventually quit. Despite being hurt and emotionally drained, she said that after quitting the company, she felt liberated. The abusive atmosphere, she added, broke her confidence and led her to doubt herself.

Online Support and Reactions

The intern’s tale has also garnered a lot of support and criticism for the CEO’s actions. @Appropriate-ASS-824 posted, “I mean no one deserves such a humiliation whether you are a top performer or the worst performer. Name and shame I would say.”

Another user, @Rx_Kid, posted, “I thought one more EY story Thank God No.”

Others commended her for being brave and speaking up and called on others to do the same. She now encourages other professionals not to sit quietly in abusive workplaces or feel obligated to earn their spurs where they are disrespected.

They warn the tariffs could hurt the U.S. economy, disrupt global trade, and damage America’s reputation as a partner.
</excerpt>

Several of America’s wealthiest and most influential corporate leaders who were once supporters of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential bid now are ringing alarms about his populist tariff policies. As global markets reeled and economic uncertainty shot up, public figures like Elon Musk and Jamie Dimon were speaking out — but is the President listening?

Elon Musk’s Tariff U-Turn

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who has been widely known as Trump’s “First Buddy,” has been one of the most vocal critics despite being a close friend of the former president. Musk over the weekend advocated for “a zero-tariff situation” between the U.S. and Europe and wasn’t shy about taking digs at Trump’s top trade adviser. “Peter Navarro.ain’t built shit,” Musk bluntly said.

Navarro countered Musk’s criticism as self-serving, telling Fox News in an interview, “Elon when he’s in his Doge lane is wonderful, but we know what’s happening here. Elon sells cars. He’s just protecting his own interests.” He went on to add that despite Tesla having U.S.-based manufacturing plants, its supply chain remains highly foreign-reliant from China, Mexico, Japan, and Taiwan.

According to The Washington Post, Musk has also urged Trump in private meetings to drop the China-wide tariffs, but to no visible effect so far. Adding fuel to the controversy, Musk shared a video on X featuring economist Milton Friedman explaining the economic benefits of free trade through the global supply chain of an ordinary pencil.

This is one of the first large public break-ups between Trump and Musk. After Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs, Tesla’s stock fell and Musk’s worth dropped by $31 billion on just last Friday alone. Shares of the company fell by nearly 5% on Monday to add to an astonishing $130 billion drop in Musk’s reported wealth this year.

Jamie Dimon Warns of Economic Fallout

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon also criticized Trump’s tariff proposals in his letter to shareholders each year. “The tariffs imposed recently will likely cause inflation and have many people believing there is a greater chance of a recession,” Dimon wrote. While the tariffs might not lead to a recession by themselves, they would “slow down growth,” he said.

He cautioned that Trump’s “America First” language might come back to haunt him. “America First is fine, as long as it doesn’t become America alone.” Dimon reiterated that military and economic ties go hand in hand: “It is extremely important to realize that security and economics are tied together – ‘economic’ warfare has given rise to military warfare in the past.”

Dimon advocated strategic partnerships through commerce, especially with countries like India and Brazil. “We don’t have to invite so many nonaligned countries, like India and Brazil, to align with us – but we can attract them to us by offering a friendly hand with trade and investment.”

The U.S. has imposed a 26% tariff on Indian products and 10% on those of Brazil today, although India is reportedly in an agreement in the making.

Ackman Calls It ‘Economic Nuclear War’

Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman, who supported Trump’s presidential bid, issued a dire threat. He tweeted on X, “.by imposing huge and disproportionate tariffs on our friends and our enemies both and thus initiating a global economic war.we are in the process of destroying confidence in our country as a trading partner.”

He asked Trump to put the tariffs on hold for 90 days, allowing room for negotiation. “The president can call a 90-day timeout.and invite trillions of dollars of new investment in our country,” he further added. Otherwise, he warned, ‘we will very badly hurt our reputation with the rest of the world that will take years and maybe decades to recover from’.

Other Billionaires Sound Off

Home Depot cofounder Ken Langone condemned the big tariff spikes. Calling the 46% tariffs “bullshit” and ones on China “too aggressive, too soon,” he told Financial Times, “You might as well say, ‘Don’t even bother calling.’

Stanley Druckenmiller, founder of Duquesne Family Office and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent adviser, has been just as firm. “I don’t believe in tariffs above 10%,” he posted on X. Early this year, he told CNBC, “So long as we’re in the 10% range… the dangers are overestimated relative to the advantages.”

Daniel Loeb, veteran hedge fund manager, also backed an American Enterprise Institute study that was critical of Trump’s tariff policy. He posted on X, “Thoughtful piece on potential conceptual as well as practical errors. It will be a test of the administration’s judgment v. ideology.”

Fisher Investments executive chairman Ken Fisher was even more acerbic. He wrote, “What Trump revealed (last) Wednesday is stupid, wrong, arrogantly extreme, ignorant trade-wise and attacking a non-problem with misdirected tools.” He went on to say that while he does not normally comment on presidential gaffes, Trump’s tariff agenda was “beyond the pale by a long shot.”

Fisher clarifies, according to the subject’s argument, trade deficits are misunderstood, “Trade deficits have, in themselves, never been causal or predictive of anything. Ever. His claim they are ‘a loss’ is wrong. They are a non-problem.”

While financial markets remain unstable and recession fears grow, strong voices are increasingly challenging Trump’s combative trade policies. The chorus of dissent, led by some of his most ardent supporters is growing louder. Whether Trump will hear them out is yet to be determined.

The strict approach sparked debate, with some supporting the discipline while others criticized it as disrespectful. Users suggested alternative, professional methods for handling tardiness.
</excerpt>

One Reddit user related a bizarre experience with the CEO of his own company, who was punctual to the letter. The CEO locked office doors at midday, keeping tardy individuals outside before offering them a lesson on discipline. As an early-arriving employee, he witnessed the atmosphere of being like having gone back to school, recounting how much it brought him back to remembering school prefects keeping those arriving late outdoors under the sun.

The Reddit user quoted the CEO as saying, “He closed all access to the office at about 12 pm and made all the latecomers wait outside the office doors. After a while, he spoke to all these guys about being productive and on time and how ‘I was here till 10 pm last night’ is not an excuse to arrive late.”

This blog entry initiated an online debate, with some defending the CEO’s approach to discipline, while others condemned the tactic as being disrespectful and archaic. One user contended, “If staying till 10 pm is not a good enough reason to arrive late, then simply don’t stay late. If your supervisor has an issue, instruct them to bring it up with the CEO.”

Another pointed out that there were better, more professional ways to handle tardiness, saying, “This is disrespectful behavior. They can just mark latecomers as half-day present, and the same can reflect in their payslips. I’m pretty sure once a pay deduction is at risk, the majority wouldn’t come late. But this is ‘childish’ behavior.”

Some of the users concurred with the notion of better communication, with one saying, “I don’t know particularly about your company but 12 is pretty late and I make it a point to alert my manager if I am going to be coming in late.”

One last user vented, saying, “Never got why CEOs such as this guy act like he owns his workers. If his workers were late, he could have warned them. But what kind of show-off is this guy? Think you are 21+ and you need to stand outside for arriving late at the office.”

</excerpt>

A US-based CEO of a marketplace for musical instruments faced heavy backlash after firing 99 employees for missing a meeting. The incident gained traction when an intern posted a screenshot of the CEO’s expletive-filled Slack message on Reddit, sparking widespread discussion.

The Reddit user, who had just joined the company as an intern, claimed he was terminated within an hour of starting. In a post on Reddit’s Recruiting Hell forum, he shared a screenshot of the CEO’s angry message, revealing that 99 out of the company’s 111 employees were fired in one go.

“You’re All Fired”

In the Slack message, the CEO, identified as Baldvin, introduced himself before expressing his frustration with the employees’ lack of attendance at the meeting.

“For those of you who did not show up to the meeting this morning, consider this your official notice: you’re all fired,” he wrote.

He accused the absent employees of breaching their agreements. “You failed to do what you agreed to, you failed to complete your part of the contract, and you failed to show up to the meetings you were supposed to attend and work for,” the message read.

The CEO instructed the terminated staff to return any company property, log out of all accounts, and leave the Slack workspace immediately.

Baldvin criticized the fired employees for not taking the job seriously and highlighted the opportunity they missed.

“I gave you an opportunity to make your life better, to work hard, and to grow. Yet, you have shown me that you don’t take this seriously,” he wrote.

He noted that only 11 out of 110 employees attended the meeting, adding, “Those 11 get to stay. The rest of you are terminated.” Baldvin ended his message with a blunt directive: “Get the f*** out of my business right now.”

Angry CEO fires 99 out of 110 employees through Slack message.
byu/cupholdery inrecruitinghell

Reddit Reacts to the Termination

The message quickly went viral, leading to heated discussions on Reddit. Users on the Recruiting Hell forum questioned the circumstances surrounding the meeting and the CEO’s actions.

“I assume the CEO failed to inform the team about that meeting. I can not believe that 99 people will fail to attend a meeting if they got informed,” one user wrote.

Another wondered about the meeting details: “What kind of meeting was this that most employees missed anyway? Did he send a last-minute invite or something? Otherwise, I find it hard to believe 99 people just didn’t show up.”

Some users speculated that the mass firing was a cover for deeper issues. “I sense there’s something else going on. You don’t fire 90% of your staff for missing a meeting. You create a fireable situation so you can get rid of them without warning because there is a massive financial problem,” a commenter theorized.

While the situation seemed strange to many, the CEO was heavily criticized for his handling of the issue. Many Reddit users agreed the decision and the manner in which it was communicated were both unprofessional and extreme.

</excerpt>

As air quality in New Delhi and the surrounding NCR worsens, severe respiratory conditions like asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) are becoming more common. Frustrated citizens have taken to social media to voice concerns about the escalating health crisis. Among them is Aloke Bajpai, the CEO and co-founder of ixigo, who criticized the public’s lack of attention to mask-wearing, referencing common excuses such as “Ab to hamein immunity hai ji (Now we are immune).”

Bajpai shared his perspective on social media, noting how his children were among the few wearing masks to school. He recounted, “At 500+ AQI, my kids seemed like the only ones wearing masks to school, and a parent asked me – everything OK with your son? Well, everything is not OK with the air these kids are breathing.” Bajpai also observed elderly individuals taking morning walks without masks, expressing frustration at the lack of public health awareness. “Why is there no public health awareness campaign around this yet? All you need to do is talk to some lung doctors to understand the looming health crisis,” he added. In a dismissive comment from a middle-aged man, Bajpai heard the familiar excuse: “Ab to hamein immunity hai ji.”

— Aloke Bajpai (@alokebajpai) November 14, 2024

Social media responses to Bajpai’s post were mixed. While many agreed with his concerns, others suggested moving to a region with cleaner air. One user recommended relocating, writing, “Masks might reduce disease spread but don’t fit tightly enough to significantly block polluted air. For those who have achieved financial independence, relocating to a place with cleaner air could be the first priority to put family health above familiarity or convenience.” Bajpai responded by acknowledging that N99 masks are effective but stressed that relocating is not feasible for everyone, saying, “Have researched enough on this topic. N99 masks do help. Everyone can’t move. Not a real solution.”

Several commenters echoed Bajpai’s call for mask usage. One noted, “N99 masks are just essential to step out nowadays. I find myself wearing them when cycling now. Too much dust and I can see a clear difference in how well I sleep.” Another user shared their experience with their masked-up seven-year-old, who is “one of the few ones masked up at our condo’s school bus stop.” Meanwhile, a fourth user humorously suggested, “Drop the ego, come to Bangalore.”

Bajpai’s remarks highlight a pressing need for increased public health awareness around mask use in high-pollution conditions, as Delhi and NCR continue to grapple with deteriorating air quality.

</excerpt>

Software company Truecaller on Thursday named Rishit Jhunjhunwala as its new chief executive officer (CEO). Jhunjhunwala is the current chief of products in the Swedish company and has been working with Truecaller since 2015.

Jhunjhunwala, who has worked for Truecaller since 2015, is also the managing director of the company’s India division. He will take over his new role on January 9, after incumbent Alan Mamedi steps down.

The change in leadership comes as Co-founders Alan Mamedi and Nami Zarringhalam announced in their letter that they have decided to give up their operational duties at Truecaller from June 30, 2025. The letter further said Mamedi and Zarringhalam will now focus on Truecaller’s long-term strategy as board members and advisors, allowing the leadership team to take full ownership and drive the company’s continued growth.

In the past decade, Jhunjhunwala has held multiple key positions in the company. Initially, he was appointed as the head of product in 2015. He was promoted to chief product officer in 2020, and then given the position of managing director of the India branch in 2021.

This comes on the same day as the Income Tax Department conducted multiple raids at the Indian offices of the global caller ID platform on charges of tax evasion, reported PTI. The Stockholm-headquartered company said it was cooperating with the investigators.

After the searches, Truecaller issued a public statement saying that it is awaiting official confirmation and communication from the tax department regarding the investigation. “On Thursday 7 November 2024, Truecaller’s India offices were visited by Indian Tax officials. Truecaller are currently assisting the authorities to the full extent at our offices. This came without prior notice and Truecaller are currently awaiting official confirmation and communication from the tax departments,” the statement said.

Also read: Delhi CM Atishi Celebrates Chhath Puja With Delhizens At ITO Ghat On Third Day| Video

“Truecaller would like to reiterate that Truecaller is not subject to any tax investigation in India outside the routine tax audits. Truecaller’s group financial statements have always received an unqualified audit opinion. Truecaller has always paid all taxes due in India and all regions where it operates,” it added.

The company said its transfer pricing policy for its intra-group transactions is consistent with the internationally accepted arm’s length standard, as has been informed earlier.

</excerpt>

A Startup Born in a Makeshift Office Shayne Coplan, the 26-year-old founder and CEO of Polymarket, recently shared a story that resonated with entrepreneurs worldwide: his crypto-fueled betting platform began in 2020 with just a laptop perched on a laundry basket in a tiny bathroom office. “2020, running out of money, solo founder, HQ in my makeshift bathroom office. Little did I know Polymarket was going to change the world,” Coplan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

From these humble beginnings, Polymarket grew into a major player in online election betting, capturing global attention in the 2024 US election season by offering users a platform to wager on high-stakes outcomes. Supported by backers like Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund and Ethereum cofounder Vitalik Buterin, the platform enabled thousands to participate in real-time betting on the unfolding election drama.

Polymarket’s Influence on the Election Prediction Landscape

As the 2024 presidential race heated up, Polymarket emerged as a powerful forecasting tool. The platform allowed users to place bets on various election outcomes, a feature that gained attention when its odds for Donald Trump’s victory diverged from mainstream opinion polls that anticipated a close race. “Make no mistake, Polymarket single-handedly called the election before anything else.

The global truth machine is here, powered by the people,” Coplan asserted in a follow-up post. In a historic win, Trump defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris following a campaign punctuated by high drama, including two attempts on his life and Harris’s unexpected candidacy after Joe Biden’s withdrawal. Trump’s administration is poised to include prominent figures like Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who contributed $119 million to a pro-Trump group, securing a unique position to influence policy.

However, a new trend, ‘silent firing’, is now gaining traction. As workers worry about AI eventually replacing their roles, some experts suggest it’s already happening. According to the New York Post, ‘silent firing’ occurs when companies make roles so difficult that employees resign, allowing their positions to be filled by AI.

Amazon’s Return-to-Office Policy: A Silent Firing Tactic?

Amazon’s decision to enforce a five-day in-office work week—despite employee dissatisfaction—is an example of this trend, explains George Kailas, CEO of Prospero.Ai. He argues that enforcing in-office attendance is a way to ‘silent fire’ workers, as it ‘decreases retention while saving on severance’. In fact, a survey cited by The Post revealed that 73% of employees considered quitting due to these policies.

Mixed Predictions on AI’s Job Impact

MIT economist Daron Acemoglu presents a different outlook, predicting that only 5% of jobs may be replaced or assisted by AI in the next decade.

Speaking with Bloomberg, he said, “A lot of money is going to get wasted. You’re not going to get an economic revolution out of that 5%.” Acemoglu argues that AI lacks the accuracy and reliability needed to replace the complex tasks humans perform, adding, “They can do that in a few places with some human supervisory oversight … but in most places they cannot.”

Gen Z’s Great Detachment

In addition to silent firing, another trend fueled by Gen Z dissatisfaction is emerging, known as the “Great Detachment.” This trend refers to a decline in employee engagement. According to Gallup, engagement among Gen Z and young millennials dropped by 5%, and American Staffing Association CEO Richard Wahlquist revealed to Business Insider that three in 10 employees are not actively engaged at work.

</excerpt>

An Australian CEO has drawn significant criticism on Reddit after making controversial claims regarding wealth disparities and the mindset of the poor. Joseph Darby, the CEO of Become Wealth, a wealth management firm, stated in a LinkedIn post that the perception of the rich getting richer while the poor become poorer is largely due to what he calls “poverty thinking.”

Poverty Mindset or External Factors?

In his post, Darby contended that the behaviors and mindsets of those in poverty are to blame for their financial struggles. He suggested that poor individuals often focus on short-term gains, blame their circumstances, seek the cheapest options, and dwell on their problems. In contrast, he argued that wealthy individuals tend to exhibit an “abundance mindset,” which allows them to create opportunities and invest in assets.

“While I acknowledge that external factors play a role in wealth disparities, your financial destiny is not set in stone,” Darby stated. He cited examples of self-made billionaires like Elon Musk and Oprah Winfrey, emphasizing their resilience in overcoming challenges. He urged people to shift their mindset from “I can’t afford that” to “How can I afford that?”

Online Outcry

Darby’s remarks were met with swift backlash on social media, particularly on Reddit. Many users criticized his views as tone-deaf and disconnected from the realities faced by those struggling financially. One user expressed frustration, stating, “Having been jobless for a while, I fail to see how an abundance mindset can help. I hate how privileged people preach that non-stop as if jobs grow on trees when I can’t even get a call for an interview.”

Others echoed this sentiment, highlighting structural inequities that contribute to poverty. “Yeah! It’s all poor people’s fault for being poor. Nothing at all to do with structural systems of inequity designed to keep them poor and make the rich richer,” commented another user. A third user quipped about the privilege of self-made success stories, pointing out the advantages that many wealthy individuals had from the start.

Joseph Darby’s comments have sparked a significant conversation about the complexities of wealth and poverty, revealing a divide between those who see mindset as a key to financial success and those who emphasize systemic issues. As the debate continues, it raises important questions about responsibility, opportunity, and the challenges faced by those striving to improve their financial situations.

Tasleem Ahmad Fateh, founder of a ghostwriting agency, shared a remarkable story of hiring an individual without any prior experience—and without even submitting a resume. In a LinkedIn post, Tasleem described this unconventional hire as his “most successful,” chosen from over 800 applicants.

The Video Application That Stood Out

Instead of submitting a traditional resume, the candidate made a video explaining why she should be hired. </excerpt>

In a recent LinkedIn post, Andreas Roettl, CEO of the tech company Journi, sparked a significant conversation by asserting that companies should equip their managers and team leaders with the skills necessary to effectively fire employees. Roettl’s provocative claim drew mixed reactions, as he emphasized that the ability to lay off or firing of staff is just as crucial as the hiring process itself.

“Firing Is as Important as Hiring”

Roettl’s post opened with the statement, “I am really good at firing people… says no one ever. But we should!” He elaborated that, while many shy away from the topic, being adept at firing employees is essential for maintaining a happy and robust team environment. “Firing will save your team spirit and culture,” he stated, advocating for a more proactive approach to employee management.

HAVE A LOOK AT THE VIRAL POST:

The CEO explained that at Journi, a tech firm specializing in using artificial intelligence to print photos, formal training is provided to team leaders and managers on how to navigate the difficult task of letting employees go. During this training, leaders practice the firing process and utilize early warning systems to evaluate employee performance.

Emphasizing Support and Improvement

Roettl stressed the importance of providing employees with opportunities for improvement before resorting to termination. He likened this process to a soccer game, where players receive a yellow card as a warning. He encouraged managers to have clear conversations with underperforming employees, outlining expectations and offering support to help them improve.

“Just like in soccer, there must be a clear first warning: the yellow card, so to speak,” he noted. However, he cautioned that if an employee fails to show progress within a reasonable timeframe, it might be time to part ways. “I vividly remember the first time I had to let someone go—I felt awful. But the team felt better afterward, and the replacement helped us reach the next level,” Roettl reflected.

Mixed Reactions from the Online Community

After sharing his thoughts, Roettl received feedback from concerned colleagues who warned him that his post could negatively impact the company’s hiring efforts. In a follow-up message, he apologized for any hurt feelings, affirming that his intention was to recognize and protect the contributions of his team.

The post, however, drew criticism from various LinkedIn users who perceived it as tone-deaf. One user remarked, “I don’t think this completely tone-deaf post is anywhere near the flex you think it is.” In response, Roettl acknowledged the feedback and expressed a willingness to learn from the criticism, stating, “You are right; if you get such feedback, I probably didn’t find the right setting and tone to bring my message across. Fair enough.”

Roettl’s bold stance on firing employees has ignited a debate about the role of termination in the workplace and how it can be approached with sensitivity and care. While his views highlight a challenging aspect of management, the reaction from the public underscores the need for a balanced approach that considers the well-being of employees alongside organizational goals.

</excerpt>

At Meta’s annual Connect event in Menlo Park, California, CEO Mark Zuckerberg made headlines not just for the technology he showcased, but also for his choice of attire—a custom T-shirt emblazoned with the Latin phrase “aut Zuck aut nihil,” translating to “all Zuck or all nothing.” This slogan underscored his bold ambitions for the company as it launched what he described as the best augmented-reality glasses in the world.

A Play on Roman Legacy

The phrase “aut Zuck aut nihil” is a clever twist on the historical saying “aut Caesar aut nihil,” meaning “either a Caesar or nothing.” This expression conveys a sense of grand ambition and was famously associated with Italian Renaissance figure Cesare Borgia, and possibly coined by Julius Caesar himself. Zuckerberg’s adoption of the phrase reflects not only his aspirations for Meta but also his long-standing fascination with ancient Rome.

Zuckerberg’s Roman Obsession

Zuckerberg’s interest in Roman history is well-documented. He honeymooned in Rome and named two of his children, August and Aurelia, after notable Roman emperors, Augustus and Marcus Aurelius, respectively. Earlier this year, he marked his 40th birthday by sharing photos in another T-shirt featuring the phrase “Carthago delenda est,” which means “Carthage must be destroyed,” a reference to Rome’s historical rivalry.

Introducing Orion AR Glasses

During the event, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled Meta’s latest prototype: the Orion AR glasses. Although not yet available for public use, these glasses are currently in the testing phase and represent Zuckerberg’s vision of blending virtual and real-world experiences. He described the glasses as “a time machine,” emphasizing their potential to offer users a glimpse into a future where augmented reality plays a central role in daily life.

Mark Zuckerberg’s latest fashion statement and the introduction of the Orion AR glasses signify Meta Platforms’ commitment to overcoming previous challenges in the tech industry. With a renewed focus on innovative products, the company aims to capture the imagination of consumers and reshape how we interact with technology. As Zuckerberg put it, “They exist, they are awesome, and they are a glimpse of a future that I think is going to be pretty exciting.”

As Meta continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how these advancements will resonate with users and shape the future of augmented reality.

</excerpt>

Satish Kumar, an officer with the Indian Railways Management Service (IRMS), has been appointed as the chairman and chief executive officer of the Railway Board, as announced in a government order on Tuesday. Kumar’s appointment is notable as he becomes the first member of the Scheduled Caste community to assume this top position. His term will begin on September 1, following the retirement of Jaya Varma Sinha on August 31. Sinha, who assumed the role on September 1 of the previous year, was the first woman to serve as CEO of the Railway Board.

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Shri Satish Kumar, Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), Member (Traction & Rolling Stock), Railway Board to the post of Chairman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Railway Board,” an order from the department of personnel & training (DoPT) said on Tuesday. It added the appointment is in the apex pay scale (pay level 17 as per the 7th central pay commission).

Satish Kumar: 34 Years Of Railway Excellence

Satish Kumar, a 1986-batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), boasts a distinguished career of over 34 years with significant contributions to the railways. He was the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) for the Lucknow division on Northern Railway from April 2017 to 2019. Prior to his current position as General Manager of North Central Railway, Kumar served as the Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer at North Western Railway in Jaipur.

“In recognition of his vast experience and contributions to the Indian Railways, Kumar was recently appointed as the MTRS, a key position that oversees the critical aspects of traction and rolling stock across railways,” a report cited a railways official. “Now, he will ascend to the highest level of Indian Railways as the Chairman of the Railway Board (CRB), where he will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the railway network in India.”

On July 29, the union government issued an order appointing Jaya Varma Sinha, the current chairperson of the Railway Board, to the position of administrative member at the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).

</excerpt>

Telegram, the popular messaging app, is under intense scrutiny in India due to its growing role in various criminal activities. The platform, which boasts approximately 950 million users, has come under fire for its involvement in distributing illegal content, such as leaked exam papers, child pornography, and facilitating stock price manipulation and extortion. This has led to comparisons with the dark web by cyber experts and law enforcement officials.

The situation gained global attention when Telegram’s CEO, Pavel Durov, was detained in France on allegations of insufficient efforts to combat crime on the app. This includes the spread of child sexual abuse material. The Paris prosecutor’s office is investigating Durov for his involvement in crimes related to illicit transactions, child pornography, fraud, and his alleged failure to cooperate with authorities.

Telegram, founded by Pavel and Nikolai Durov in 2013, has consistently denied responsibility for misuse of its platform. The company argues that it is absurd to hold the platform or its owner accountable for such abuses. Despite this, concerns have escalated, with incidents like the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam due to a question paper leak on Telegram and the exposure of NEET-UG exam questions a day before the test.

Law enforcement officials have highlighted the challenges in addressing criminal activities on Telegram. The platform’s anonymity features, such as hiding phone numbers and using only usernames, complicate investigations. Cooperation from Telegram has been criticized as inadequate, with the platform often providing limited information, such as last login IP addresses, which are frequently unhelpful.

Former officials have pointed out Telegram’s historical reluctance to comply with regulatory requirements. While Telegram has appointed an India-based grievance officer and opened an office in Gurugram, compliance with content removal requests has been inconsistent. Transparency issues persist, with Telegram failing to publish a monthly transparency report as required under IT Rules 2021.

Experts have criticized Telegram’s claims of end-to-end encryption, noting that only its “Secret Chats” are truly encrypted. Other communications, such as group messages and broadcast channels, are not end-to-end encrypted, allowing Telegram access to their content. This raises concerns about the platform’s responsibility in moderating content and preventing illegal activities.

Anand Venkatanarayanan, co-founder and CTO of DeepStrat, has described Telegram as a “social media for cyber criminals,” likening it to the Silk Road dark web marketplace. He argues that Telegram’s design choices and lack of content moderation facilitate criminal activities. Bots and API access on Telegram can be exploited for illegal purposes, such as accessing personal information from breached databases.

Overall, the scrutiny on Telegram reflects growing concerns about its role in facilitating and perpetuating criminal behavior, and its effectiveness in addressing these issues remains a contentious topic.

</excerpt>

A former Amazon Vice President, Ethan Evans, has made a startling claim that a CEO of a startup where he once worked seduced his wife, ultimately leading to his divorce. Evans, who is based in Seattle, shared this personal story in a recent LinkedIn post where he offered advice on handling “unethical leaders” and navigating “political snake pits” in the workplace.

Sensational Allegation Against Startup CEO

In his LinkedIn post, Evans revealed, “A CEO that I worked for seduced my wife in direct retaliation for my pushback on him at work. He won. I got divorced and left the company.” He further urged others to “learn from my pain,” emphasizing that he truly understands the challenges of dealing with manipulative executives.

Career at Amazon and Beyond

Evans, who spent over 15 years at Amazon, joined the company as a senior manager and worked his way up to become the Vice President of Prime Gaming in 2019. He retired from Amazon in September 2020 and has since focused on providing career growth advice through his newsletter, “Level Up.”

Detailed Account in ‘Level Up’ Newsletter

In a more detailed account shared in his newsletter, Evans described the situation as the “worst example” of unethical leadership he encountered during his career. He explained that the CEO’s actions were a direct response to his resistance at work, which led to his eventual departure from the startup and his divorce.

Acknowledgment of Marital Issues

Evans acknowledged that his marriage was already troubled, noting in a LinkedIn comment, “What this CEO did would not have worked if my then-wife had not been open to his proposition. This in turn reflects that our marriage had problems.” He also emphasized that while his wife ultimately made her own choices, the CEO’s actions played a significant role in the breakdown of their relationship.

Internet Speculation and Clarification

Despite not naming the CEO, some social media users speculated that Evans might be referring to Jeff Bezos. However, Evans clarified that the CEO in question led a startup, not a company as large as Amazon. He further stated that he managed to leave the startup and eventually became a VP at Amazon before retiring.

Evans explained his reasons for sharing this personal story, stating that his mission is to help others avoid similar mistakes in their careers. Through his experience, he hopes to guide others in recognizing and dealing with unethical leadership in the workplace.

</excerpt>

A LinkedIn post by Shubham Mishra, founder and CEO of BatteryOKTechnologies in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has generated significant buzz online for its unconventional job listing. The post, which sought ‘exceptional humans’ for the startup’s core team, highlighted an array of unusual job conditions, including ‘zero salary’, ‘no weekend offs’, and ‘no vacations’.

Mishra’s post, shared last month, initially puzzled many due to its seemingly harsh terms. The job listing outlined several “perks,” such as no salary and no joining gifts or elaborate office setups, reflecting a frugal approach to business operations. Mishra noted that the company aims to disrupt the energy sector with its AI-driven innovations, emphasizing the importance of long-term commitment and genuine passion for the field.

The post quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions on platforms like Reddit and LinkedIn. Users expressed a range of responses, from confusion over the legality of such a job offer to speculation about whether the listing was a joke. Comments ranged from “I’m confused how this is not illegal” to “I literally demand this be satire.”

In response to the viral reaction, Shubham Mishra clarified that the job posting contained an element of satire. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he explained, “The goal was to filter out non-relevant candidates. We are building a company for the long term and seek individuals who are committed to growing with us.”

Mishra’s intention behind the post was to attract dedicated and passionate individuals willing to invest in the company’s future. Despite the unconventional approach, the startup’s mission to revolutionize the energy industry through innovative AI solutions remains a central focus.

</excerpt>

In one of the most significant IT failures ever recorded, a global technological outage on Friday brought Microsoft services to a halt, affecting millions of users worldwide. The disruption impacted a wide range of services, including flight operations, cloud services, and Office 365 apps. The root cause of the disruption was traced back to CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm known for its Falcon Sensor software.

CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz, during his apology on NBC’s Today TV program, appeared visibly shaken and struggled to explain the situation. Kurtz clarified that the disruption stemmed from a content upgrade, not a hack. He explained that a bug in an upgrade to Falcon Sensor caused massive technical problems by interfering with Windows systems. The CEO admitted the need to investigate further to understand how a single content change could lead to such extensive disruptions.

Kurtz’s fumbling response and visible anxiety led to a viral video on social media platform X, where he was seen pausing to sip water and struggling to answer questions about the lack of a backup system to prevent such a scenario. The video amassed over 2 million views, with captions and comments questioning his composure and suggesting potential hidden issues.

Omg. Crowdstrike CEO starts panicking and choking on his words when the media asks him why a single content update could shut down the entire system.
Look at how nervous this man is.
What is he hiding? pic.twitter.com/vUE94qP7dZ

In the comments section, users speculated about the severity of the situation and criticized the failed risk management. Some users suggested it might have been a cyberattack, while others blamed the company for not having proper safeguards in place.

Despite Kurtz’s clarification that the issue was due to a software defect in the update, the incident has highlighted significant vulnerabilities in cybersecurity measures and the importance of robust backup systems to prevent such widespread disruptions in the future.

</excerpt>

Insolvency proceedings against ed-tech company Byju’s will likely force thousands of employees to quit and result in a total shutdown of its services, according to its CEO, Byju Raveendran. Byju’s, once valued at $22 billion and backed by prominent investors such as Prosus and General Atlantic, has faced a series of setbacks recently. These include significant job cuts, a collapse in its valuation, and conflicts with investors who have accused Raveendran of corporate governance lapses.

The company’s current crisis escalated when the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) triggered insolvency proceedings following a complaint by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over an outstanding payment of $19 million related to a sponsorship deal. This development poses a severe threat to Byju’s operations, potentially causing vendors who provide essential services to declare a default, which could “lead to a total shutdown of services,” according to Raveendran’s court appeal.

Byju’s, which operates in more than 21 countries, gained significant popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic by offering online courses. The company employs around 27,000 people, including 16,000 teachers. In his court filing, Raveendran expressed concern that the insolvency process might force employees to leave the organization. He also stated that the company is willing to settle the outstanding dues to the BCCI within 90 days to resolve the issue and avoid further disruption.

</excerpt>

An American CEO faced backlash on social media for his LinkedIn post detailing the firing of an employee. Matthew Baltzell, CEO of Cap X Media, shared a summary of his brief meeting with the employee, explaining that he informed the individual of their layoff in just 10 minutes.

Baltzell mentioned offering the ex-employee a severance package and a reference for future job opportunities. He described the interaction as “short and direct,” with the employee handling the news “professionally and with grace.”

Baltzell also mentioned that he notified the team about the employee’s departure over Slack, without disclosing specific details, to maintain transparency and respect. While some praised Baltzell’s approach, others criticized it as tone-deaf and insensitive.

One commenter on LinkedIn dismissed the post as “typical LinkedIn drivel,” while another urged the CEO to “grow up.”

A screenshot of the post also reached X, where it was shared with the caption: “Imagine getting fired, heading over to LinkedIn, and seeing this.”

Many criticized the CEO for potentially making the employee’s exit more challenging and compared his actions to those of a Hypersocial CEO who went viral in 2022 for posting a selfie crying after laying off hundreds of employees.

Netizens React:

Several users expressed disbelief at the CEO’s decision to publicize the firing, with one founder stating, “If I’ve fired someone, the last thing I want to do is post about it on social media.”

Another commenter emphasized, “This is horrifying. A real leader doesn’t need to brag about how good of a job they thought they did in firing someone.”

</excerpt>

Sally Buzbee, the editor-in-chief of The Washington Post, has resigned from her position following a clash with CEO Will Lewis over the publication of an article related to Lewis’ involvement in a British phone hacking scandal.

According to sources, the incident occurred in mid-May when Buzbee informed Lewis that the newsroom planned to cover a judge’s ruling in a long-running British legal case involving Prince Harry and others against Rupert Murdoch’s tabloids. The judge was expected to decide whether Lewis’ name could be added to a list of executives accused of concealing hacking evidence. Lewis argued that the case did not merit coverage, but Buzbee insisted on publishing the article.

Although Lewis did not prevent the publication of the article, the incident reportedly unsettled Buzbee, who sought advice from confidants outside The Post. The article was published on May 21, when the judge ruled that Lewis’ name could be added to the case.

Buzbee’s resignation was not solely due to the hacking case coverage. She was already considering her future at the paper due to a reorganization plan proposed by Lewis in April. Lewis had offered Buzbee a position overseeing a new division focused on social media and service journalism, which she perceived as a demotion from her role as executive editor. Lewis, who was appointed by Jeff Bezos, The Post’s owner, has been tasked with remaking the publication amid declining audience numbers and huge financial losses. He has proposed a strategy to overhaul the business, which includes splitting the editorial ranks into three divisions: a core newsroom covering politics, business, and other topics; an opinion section; and a new division for social media and service journalism, including wellness and lifestyle coverage.

At a tense staff meeting on Monday, Lewis defended his business strategy, highlighting The Post’s $77 million loss the previous year and a 50% audience decline since 2020. “Let’s not sugarcoat it. It needs turning around, right?” he said. Buzbee’s resignation has raised questions about the future of The Washington Post and the impact of Lewis’ reorganization plan on the publication’s editorial direction.

Emphasizing the importance of early financial planning for youngsters, Ms Gupta advocates for parents to commence investing for their children as soon as possible.

In a recent post on X, shared “on popular request” on March 29, she outlined swift strategies for parents to initiate early-stage investments for their children, ensuring a secure financial future. Gupta recommended parents to organize their child’s documents, establish clear investment goals, commit to 2-3 SIPs monthly, and consistently monitor and adapt these goals over time.

On popular request, some quick thoughts on investing for a child:

1. Get the docs done – birth certificate, Aadhar, PAN and then bank account. Actually very easy to do for a minor.

2. Try to find a goal – higher education is one – to save for. Break it down into the number…

— Radhika Gupta (@iRadhikaGupta) March 29, 2024

Here’s what she wrote:

1. Get the docs done – birth certificate, Aadhar, PAN and then bank account. Actually very easy to do for a minor.

2. Try to find a goal – higher education is one – to save for. Break it down into the number of years you have to figure out an investment amount.

3. Do monthly SIPs. 2-3 funds work. Can use a large / mid index fund for broad market exposure, mid and small cap funds to add risk, and an international fund if you are thinking study abroad to manage currency. ,94 those who asked you can do all this without a children’s specific fund like gift etc.

4. Review this periodically as goals change, make it more conservative as you get closer to the goal. Involve the child in the process as they are old enough to understand.

5. This isn’t a perfect process and you can easily create your own. But it’s enough to start. Finally encourage those who gift to gift units or SIPs to kids. I know the pain of having three ball pools and four strollers as gifts and storing them in a Mumbai home. Financial gifts are productive and take less space 🙂

SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) stands out as a prominent tool for saving and accumulating wealth in the investment landscape. With SIP, investors commit to investing a fixed amount at regular intervals. This amount can be as minimal as ₹500, and investors have the flexibility to choose intervals that suit their preferences, whether weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or annually.

Holding SIPs for 15-20 years can yield substantial returns in the future. The sooner you start investing, the greater the potential benefits. SIPs excel in the long term due to the compounding growth of investments, which helps offset any periodic losses through averaging out.

</excerpt>

Amid the disturbing murder case of Suchana Seth’s four-year-old son in Goa, court documents accessed by NDTV reveal a tumultuous legal history, with Ms. Seth previously filing domestic violence charges against her husband, PR Venkat Raman, in August. The shocking case, characterized by a bitter divorce battle, unfolded further as it was disclosed that Ms. Seth had sought Rs 2.5 lakh per month in alimony, alleging annual earnings of over Rs 1 crore by her husband.

The court documents illustrate that Ms. Seth submitted copies of WhatsApp messages, pictures, and medical records to support her claims of domestic abuse against Mr. Raman. In response, he denied the charges, leading to the issuance of a restraining order against him, preventing any contact with Ms. Seth and their child.

Despite the restraining order, Mr. Raman was granted weekly visitation rights, allowing him to see the child every Sunday. This arrangement reportedly upset Ms. Seth, and investigators are exploring whether this court order played a role in the tragic incident that unfolded in Goa.

The last hearing for the domestic violence case occurred on December 12, more than three weeks before the fatal incident in a Candolim service apartment. The court had adjourned the matter to January 29, marking a significant legal development before the disturbing events took place.

Suchana Seth, the CEO accused of murdering her son, has been charged with a “premeditated” crime based on the discovery of empty cough syrup bottles at the crime scene. The post-mortem report suggested that the child may have been smothered.

The marital discord between Ms. Seth and Mr. Raman came to light, revealing that they were married in November 2010, and their son was born in August 2019. Ms. Seth informed the court that she had been living separately from her husband since March 2021.

The tragedy deepened as it was revealed that Ms. Seth, possibly attempting suicide after the alleged murder, was found with slashed wrists. The legal battle surrounding the divorce and domestic violence charges now adds a complex layer to the investigation, shedding light on the strained relationships and tumultuous history between the accused CEO and her estranged husband.

Suchana Seth, the 39-year-old CEO and founder of Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence start-up Mindful AI Lab, has been apprehended in Karnataka’s Chitradurga after allegedly murdering her four-year-old son during their stay at a north Goa hotel. The arrest follows a sequence of events involving bloodstains, observant hotel staff, and a resourceful taxi driver.

Ms. Seth, accompanied by her son, checked into Sol Banyan Grande in Candolim on January 6. However, on January 8, she left the hotel alone, carrying a large bag that later revealed her son’s lifeless body. Hotel staff discovered bloodstains in the room during cleaning, prompting them to alert the Goa police.

Despite being advised to take a flight to Bengaluru, Ms. Seth insisted on a taxi for the approximately 600 km journey. The hotel staff, recognizing the urgency, called for a taxi, leading to the involvement of a quick-thinking cab driver.

Upon reaching Chitradurga, approximately 200 km from Bengaluru, the police discreetly approached the cab driver in Konkani, attempting to gather information without alerting Ms. Seth. Her misleading statements about her son’s location raised suspicions, and the police directed the cab driver to a nearby police station for further inquiry.

Senior police officer Nidhin Valson praised the vigilance of hotel employees and the calm demeanor of the cab driver, acknowledging their crucial roles in the case. The unfolding tragedy has left many questions unanswered, including the motive behind the alleged murder. Ms. Seth, known for her achievements in the field of artificial intelligence, is facing serious charges as the investigation continues.

Details surrounding the strained relationship with her husband, currently abroad, and the divorce proceedings are being explored. The police are carefully scrutinizing the circumstances leading to the tragic incident, with a post-mortem examination scheduled for the child’s body. CCTV footage from the hotel is under examination, and a forensics team is actively collecting additional evidence. The investigation remains ongoing, emphasizing the need for thorough verification of the details provided by Ms. Seth during questioning.

</excerpt>

Apple CEO Tim Cook is set to land on Indian soil in the coming weeks to launch the iPhone maker’s first store in the country, and during his tour he is likely to have an interaction with key ministries regarding manufacturing expansions and exports.

Mr Cook is likely to preside over the opening of the twin shops in India’s financial and political capital, people familiar with the situation said, who asked to remain anonymous because they were discussing private arrangements. Apple announced on Tuesday that it will open two stores in India on 18 April and 20 April in Mumbai and Delhi, respectively.

The CEO’s first visit was seven years ago, in 2016, and the trip takes place as significant milestones are reached by the most valuable corporation in the world: Currently, the sale of iPhones in India has reached the pinnacle, with annual iPhone exports from the country reaching billions of dollars.

Apple has been trying to focus on India to spread its assembly operations outside of the U.S. due to the strained relationship between China and the U.S.
Mr Cook is expected to unveil the first Apple store in India at an upscale mall in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. After a few days, he is ready to open the second store in the national capital, in Saket Mall.

The company first unlocked its Indian online store in 2020. India is the second-largest smartphone market, and the growth rate is immense. But the price of Apple is high, which is not affordable for most of the people of the country, where a reasonable price plays a key role in the purchase decision of the people.

However, Apple wants to arrange a meeting for Mr Cook with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Modi government has been encouraging electronics manufacturing units and motivating several of Apple’s manufacturing partners, such as Foxconn Technology Group and Pegatron Corp.

After a ban of two years Facebook and Instagram accounts of former US President Donald Trump will be reinstated by Meta.

Earlier on 6 January 2021, following the capital riot, Trump’s accounts on Facebook and Instagram were suspended by Meta.

Meta’s president for global affairs Nick Clegg explained the decision and said, “In the event that Mr. Trump posts further violating content, the content will be removed and he will be suspended for between one month and two years, depending on the severity of the violation.”

“Like any other Facebook or Instagram user, Mr. Trump is subject to our community standards,” Clegg wrote

Meanwhile, at the time of suspension, Trump’s account on Facebook was the most followed one with hundreds of millions of followers.

Moreover, on 7 January 2021, in Trump’s support, hundreds of people stormed the Capitol after which Meta suspended Trump’s account along with YouTube and Twitter, which were also deactivated that week.

“The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” tweeted Musk.

However, earlier Twitter CEO Musk started a poll asking the users whether he should reinstate the account of Trump or not, in which 15 million Twitter users voted in the poll with 51.8 percent voting in favor of his reinstatement.

In connection with the alleged urination incident onboard an Air India flight between New York and Delhi the statement of three crew members has been recorded on Saturday by Delhi Police.

A total of nine crew members of Air India have been summoned by a senior police officer who indulged in flight when that incident took place.

“We have summoned them to record the statement and three crew members have recorded their statement. The remaining six crew members that include pilots will record their statements soon,” the senior police officer said.

“We have also approached the victim to record their statement. The family members informed us that she is unwell and will reach out to the police as she gets well,” a senior police officer said.

Earlier on 26 November the incident took place on an Air India flight from John F Kennedy international airport in New York to Delhi the flight was on its way.

Meanwhile, on Friday Shankar Mishra was arrested by the Delhi Police from Bengaluru.

Moreover, Chief Executive Officer Campbell Wilson on Saturday issued an apology in connection with a man who allegedly peed at an elderly woman traveling in business class on an Air India flight on 26 November 2022.

CEO Wilson in the letter to Air India employees stated that necessary actions against those people who will not follow the flight rules will be taken.

“This week has, ‘regrettably’, been dominated by media headlines of which you are no doubt familiar. The repulsion felt by the affected passenger is totally understandable and we share her distress,” Campbell said.

US-based financial service company Wells Fargo where Shankar Mishra used to work they have terminated him.

“Wells Fargo holds employees to the highest standards of professional and personal behaviors and we find these allegations deeply disturbing. This individual has been terminated from Wells Fargo. We are cooperating with law enforcement and ask that any additional inquiries be directed to them,” the company stated.

However, on 4 January against the accused FIR was registered by the woman co-passenger to Air India.
