Food Safety Commissioner backs campaign to combat food adulteration

Rajasthan is launching a special initiative under the ‘Shudh Aahar-Milawat Par Vaar’ campaign to combat adulteration during the festive season. A letter has been written to all the district collectors to give a wider form to the campaign. Food Safety Commissioner Iqbal Khan said that in view of the festive season, there is a possibility of adulteration due to increased use of milk, cheese, mawa and sweets made from them, ghee, oil, spices and likewise. In view of this, a special campaign will be run against adulteration from the state level to the village level with the aim of providing pure and standard level food items to the public. In this regard, a letter has been sent to all the district collectors to take necessary steps.
The letter requests ongoing action against adulteration leading up to Diwali, directing that the campaign be managed by the district-level management committee. The process of seizure and destruction of adulterated food items should be implemented by taking samples in a quality manner. Also, food traders should be made aware that they should take full care of the purity and quality of milk, cheese, mawa and sweets made from these. Hygiene and cleanliness should also be taken care of in the process of making sweets.
Khan said that under the special campaign, effective action will be taken against those selling and making adulterated food items by conducting decoy operations in the districts. Instructions have also been given in the letter to the designated officer and the Chief Medical and Health Officer to prepare a list of habitual adulterators and initiate strict action.
According to the number of food safety officers working in the districts, more and more teams will be formed, and action will be taken for sampling and inspection.
Along with this, extensive publicity will also be done for prevention of adulteration and awareness.

The fundraising figures, which cover April through June, include a remarkable $111.8 million addition for Trump in June alone, leaving his campaign with $284.9 million in cash on hand.

President Biden’s campaign, along with its Democratic allies, raised a total of $264 million in the second quarter. This included $127 million in June, with a notable spike from small-dollar donations on the day of Biden’s debate against Trump. Despite facing criticism over his debate performance, which led to calls from some Democrats for him to step aside, Biden’s campaign highlighted the robust support from grassroots donors, with 95% of donations under $200.

Biden’s campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, emphasized the broad support from average Americans. “Our Q2 fundraising haul is a testament to the committed and growing base of supporters standing firmly behind the President and Vice President and clear evidence that our voters understand the choice in this election between President Biden fighting for the American people and Donald Trump fighting for himself as a convicted felon,” she said.

The Biden campaign currently has $240 million in cash on hand and is investing heavily in over 200 campaign offices and more than 1,000 staff in key battleground states. These states are crucial for Biden’s strategy to secure a victory over Trump in the upcoming November election.

State Minister Rakesh Singh visits people who hurt during PM Modi’s rally

A huge crowd attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Jabalpur, marking the launch of BJP’s Lok Sabha campaign in Madhya Pradesh. However, the event took a tragic turn as four individuals sustained injuries when a stage collapsed during the proceedings on Sunday. The injured, including a police officer, were promptly taken to Victoria Hospital in the city, where they received medical attention. Madhya Pradesh minister Rakesh Singh later visited the injured, assuring that they were all in stable condition and undergoing proper treatment.

Referring the incident, Singh attributed the stage collapse to the overcrowding at the roadshow. “On PM Modi’s direction, I met with the people who were admitted to the hospital after getting injured in the stage collapse incident. All are fine, and proper treatment is being given to the injured. I pray to God that all of them get well soon,” he conveyed to ANI. Those treated for injuries were subsequently discharged and sent home.

According to Dilip Srivastava, a police officer in Jabalpur, the stage collapse occurred after PM Modi’s rally had passed, due to overcrowding. One police personnel and three others were injured in the incident and were swiftly transported to Victoria Hospital for medical attention.

The roadshow in Jabalpur signified the initiation of BJP’s Lok Sabha campaign in the state, coinciding with PM Modi’s first visit to Madhya Pradesh post the implementation of the model code of conduct for the general elections.

Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to conduct the Lok Sabha elections 2024 in four phases, spanning April 19, April 26, May 7, and May 13. The state encompasses a total of 29 Lok Sabha constituencies, with 10 reserved for SC and ST candidates, and the remaining 19 being unreserved. The Bharatiya Janata Party has historically maintained a stronghold in the state, emerging victorious in both the state assembly elections last year and the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, securing a vast majority of seats.

BJP candidate K Annamalai holds roadshow in Coimbatore

Tamil Nadu BJP Chief and Coimbatore Lok Sabha candidate, K Annamalai, launched his election campaign with a roadshow in Madurai, starting from Teppakulam Maidanam. Riding on an open-roofed vehicle, Annamalai kicked off his campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“MK Stalin and DMK are the enemies of Tamil Nadu and the people of the state. Today, it is only the BJP that is in the field and campaigning for the election,” Annamalai said, emphasizing the BJP’s strong presence in the electoral arena.

“June 4 will attest to the fact that Tamil Nadu will come Modiji’s way, that is, in a very big way,” Annamalai earlier stated, expressing his confidence in the BJP’s prospects in Tamil Nadu.

Annamalai, a former Karnataka cadre IPS officer, joined the BJP in 2020 after resigning from the service in 2019. He assumed the role of BJP state president a year later.

The Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu are scheduled for April 19, with all 39 seats going to polls in the first phase. The results, along with those from other phases, will be counted on June 4.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the DMK secured a sweeping victory in Tamil Nadu, winning 23 seats and garnering the majority of the total votes polled at 33.2 per cent. Its ally, the Congress, won 8 seats with 12.9 per cent of the votes. Other parties like CPI, CPI (M), and IUML also secured seats, while two seats went to Independents.

The general elections for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be conducted in seven phases, starting from April 19. Approximately 97 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in this election.

PM Modi to speak in a public gathering tomorrow in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to speak at public gatherings in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan on April 2.

PM Modi is set to address public meetings in Uttarakhand’s Rudrapur and Rajasthan’s Kothrutali.

The party has circulated an official memo to its members, (from the central leadership to booth-level teams), outlining a series of programs to commemorate the foundation day.

The outlined programs consist of meetings with beneficiaries, door-to-door interactions, Padyatras, bike rallies, and the honoring of senior workers, to be orchestrated nationwide.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured 303 seats, whereas the INC won only 52 seats. The upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections for 543 seats will take place in seven phases starting from April 19. Approximately 97 crore voters are eligible to participate in the general elections.

‘Donate for Desh’ crowdfunding campaign, Congress’s colleted10.15 crore

The Congress party has collected a total donation amount of Rs 10. 5 crores through their crowdfunding campaign “Donate for Desh” as of now.

Ajay Maken, a senior Congress leader and party Treasurer, shared the news on X, stating that the highest donations were received from Telangana, amounting to 1.72 crore, followed by Haryana with 1.21 crore.

In his post on X, Maken expressed his admiration for the dedicated Congress workers in Haryana, who surpassed Maharashtra to secure the second position in terms of total donations. He commended their efforts and announced that Haryana alone contributed a significant amount of Rs 1.21 crore, pushing the overall donation amount past Rs 10.15 crore.

The top five states that contributed the most to the ‘Donate for Desh’ campaign were Telangana, Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The crowdfunding campaign ‘Donate for Desh’ was launched by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in December, as a means to gather support for the party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

The campaign draws inspiration from the ‘Tilak Swaraj Fund’ initiated in 1920. On the occasion of Congress completing 138 years, the party encouraged citizens to contribute in multiples of 138 (e.g., Rs 138, Rs 1380, Rs 13,800, or more).

The objective of the campaign is to empower the party in creating a more equitable India, where resources and opportunities are distributed fairly. Kharge emphasized that this is the first time Congress has sought public donations, drawing a parallel to Mahatma Gandhi, who also relied on public contributions during the freedom struggle.

Kharge stated, “It’s the first time that Congress is asking people for donations for the nation… If you work only by depending on the rich, then you have to follow their policies. Mahatma Gandhi also took donations from the public during the freedom struggle.”

To promote the milestone achievement of the Modi administration to the general public, the “Meri Sarkar Mera Abhiman” campaign has been launched. At a Bhartiya Vitta Salahkar Samiti (BVSS) event held in honour of the 75th anniversary of independence, a book detailing 75 significant government initiatives was released. The authors of this book are Gopal Krishna Agarwal, the BJP’s national economic affairs spokesperson, and Gopal Kumar V R, an honorary member of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority of India (IEPFA).

The purpose of the book is to present 75 major schemes together in simple and common language so that the general public can benefit from it. In the next phase of this campaign, a big target has been set to reach 75 lakh people through social media and direct contact.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gopal Krishna Agarwal said that the BJP government has done a great job by achieving the welfare and empowerment of the people with more than 22 crore beneficiaries, but we need to achieve further by creating awareness and connecting with the potential beneficiaries at the grassroots level.

During the event, Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan said that Yoga will be promoted in Punjab, and for that the Punjab Government has started efforts.

Yediyurappa expresses confidence of BJP winning 135 seats in Karnataka

Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday expressed confidence that Bharatiya Janata Party will win 135 seats in Karnataka polls and termed Congress as “a drowning ship”.

Addressing a press conference on the last day of the campaign in Karnataka, the senior BJP leader said a “double-engine government” is essential for the development of the southern state. “Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah did roadshows and rallies. I am confident that we (BJP) will win 135 seats in the Karnataka Assembly election. Congress is a drowning ship, its leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra won only 2-3 seats in Uttar Pradesh even after campaigning for 4-5 months,” Yediyurappa said.

Yediyurappa said Congress leaders cannot match the stature of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is working restlessly for the country’s development.
He said that the southern state needs a development-oriented government.
Yediyurappa listed the achievements of the BJP government at the Centre.
He said India is now the fifth largest economy in the world and is on course to becoming the first or second-placed economy in 20-25 years.

He said the BJP does not discriminate on the grounds of caste or religion.
Talking to reporters, Yediyurappa said the BJP has the total support of the Lingayat community despite efforts of Congress “to create problems”.

The campaign for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections is set to gain momentum as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will conduct nearly 15 public meetings, and road shows in six days in the state, giving a significant push to party’s efforts to retain power in state, sources said on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister will begin campaigning on April 28 and will continue till May 7. Terming Karnataka as the BJP’s “gateway to the South”, the party is leaving no stone unturned and for that top leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and national party president JP Nadda have been aggressively campaigning across the country.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold 12 to 15 public meetings/rallies and road shows in six days in the Karnataka elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will campaign on April 28, April 29, May 3, May 4, May 6 and May 7, where PM Modi will hold 12 to 15 rallies/public meetings and road shows,” sources said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s challenge in Karnataka is to retain power, for which party president JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah have already started their election campaigns. Rajnath Singh, who has recovered from COVID after being down for nearly a week, will also join the campaign.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party is excited about Modi’s program as the Prime Minister’s arrival creates an atmosphere in favour of the BJP,” they added.Notably, Karnataka is the southern state where the BJP is in power.

The BJP is seeking a second term in the state and has exuded confidence of returning to power with a full majority.According to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, PM Modi will start his campaign from Belgavi. Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeep on Wednesday said that he will campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming elections in Karnataka and dismissed speculations that he will contest as a candidate.

Talking to reporters at the Bengaluru airport here, the actor said, “I will only campaign for the BJP, not contest the elections.” BJP sources had earlier said that the actor was likely to join the party today in the presence of Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and other party leaders. Assembly elections in Karnataka are scheduled to be held on May 10.

Karnataka Transport Minister B Siramulu said that the BJP will benefit from the induction of the actor. “Kichcha Sudeep is a very popular leader, along with a popular actor. He is a very big artist in the whole country. His support to BJP will be of great benefit to our party”.

Meanwhile, police an alleged threat letter was received by Kichcha Sudeep’s manager Jack Manju on Wednesday, after which the police registered a case in the matter.According to the police, Sudeep’s manager received a letter from an unknown person, threatening to release the actor’s “private video” on social media.
The actor, meanwhile said that he will let the police handle the case.

CM Yogi launches ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ and campaign against communicable diseases

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the month-long “School Chalo” campaign and campaign against communicable diseases on Saturday with an aim to ensure that not a single child is deprived of education and no child falls prey to a communicable disease.

On this occasion, free textbooks were provided to the children of classes one through eight and report cards were also distributed to the students who had passed the ‘Nipun assessment’. Yogi also released a School Readiness and Teacher Guide and launched the Rani Laxmibai Self-Defense Training Programme as part of Mission Shakti.

The CM informed us that work is underway to provide the remaining 20,000 schools with basic amenities as well as smart classes and other facilities. CM Yogi stated that the curriculum has undergone significant change as well. The Basic Education Council is adopting the syllabus of NCERT. Along with the presence of teachers, the presence of officials of the Education Department is being registered through the ‘Manav Sampada’ portal.

Uttar Pradesh has set a model for controlling communicable diseases. CM Yogi said, “Uttar Pradesh is a state of nine climatic zones. Different diseases also occur in different areas. Encephalitis killed thousands of kids each year in Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, the Terai of Nepal, and Saharanpur. Varanasi and the surrounding areas used to be affected by kala-azar, Bareilly and its surrounding areas by malaria, Lucknow, Kanpur, and Mathura by dengue, as well as Jhansi and the Bundelkhand region by the Chikungunya virus.”

Along with the launch of School Chalo Abhiyan 2023 and the Communicable Disease Control Campaign, CM Yogi also flagged off vector control vehicles at Lok Bhavan on Saturday.

Women unite in Lucknow to create non-violent economy

To take part in a 12-day campaign for a violent-free economy, more than ten thousand women have assembled on the outskirts of Lucknow. October 2 will mark the end of the campaign, which got under way on September 21.

On Friday, a program was held in Madiaon for women to speak out for a non-violent life and economy as part of this campaign, which was organised by Red Brigade Lucknow (an organisation that aims to protect women).

Students, social workers from four states, as well as representatives from Lucknow’s villages, mohallas, and schools, were present in the program.

Renuka Tandon, founder of Amren Foundation, presided over the event, while the chief guest for the event was renowned social worker Jill Ben. Ben said that increasing violence in society deeply affects women, and therefore, it is their responsibility to raise a voice to further build a non-violent economy. Tandon appreciated the efforts made by the Red Brigade, saying that it is a good step in the direction of achieving a non-violent economy.

The founder of Red Brigade, Usha Vishwakarma, emphasised the significance of women working on and enhancing their self-defence and self-image when she said that a non-violent economy is only possible when there is a humane relationship between man, woman, and nature.
