At least eight people were killed in a bus accident in Punjab’s Bathinda on Friday, Bathinda Urban MLA Jagroop Singh Gill said, adding that five died on the spot while three succumbed to serious injuries during treatment.

Gill was briefed by the Bathinda civil surgeon, Dr. Ramandeep Singla, when the MLA visited Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital in Bathinda city, where 18 injured passengers are currently being treated.

“Five died on the spot while three succumbed to serious injuries during treatment. Nearly 18 are being treated at the Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital. The health officials have instructed to ensure treatment,” Gill told HT.

The accident occurred near Jiwan Singh Wala village in Bathinda when a bus fell into a drain after crashing a bridge. A rescue operation is underway with the help of NDRF, police, and locals.

The private bus was on the way from Talwandi Sabo to Bathinda city when it skidded and fell into a drain. Top civil and police officials are on the spot to supervise rescue operations.

Identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed by the district authorities.

Eyewitnesses said the bus crashed through the railing of a bridge before it fell into the filthy drain.

District officials said it was raining in Bathinda when the accident occurred, and the cause of the mishap will be probed.

Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Showkat Ahmad Parray said soon after the accident, villagers rushed to rescue, and they managed to save lives. A detailed investigation is underway to confirm how many people were onboard.

Soon after the accident, district officials, including DC Parray and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amneet Kondal, rushed to the spot.

Early Monday morning, tragedy struck as a bus carrying pilgrims collided with a stationary truck near Musepur Barachavar on the Purvanchal Expressway in Ghazipur district. The collision resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals, including two women, while 28 others sustained injuries.

Doctors at Government Medical College (GMC) in Jammu reported that two passengers are currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following a catastrophic bus accident on Thursday. The bus, carrying pilgrims to the Shiv Khori cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir, plunged into a gorge in the Akhnoor region.

The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of 22 people and injuries to 60 others. The bus, which originated from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, rolled down a ravine at Tungi Morh near Chowki Chowra on the Jammu-Rajouri National Highway.

In response to the disaster, the Jammu administration set up a 24-hour helpline to assist the victims’ relatives.

Dr. Ashutosh from GMC Hospital described the extent of the tragedy: “It was a massive tragedy. 72 patients have come here till now. Our main motive is to save those who are injured. Two patients are in the ICU, some have chest issues, some have stomach issues, and some have fractures.”

Dr. Ashutosh assured that all necessary medical procedures, including CT scans, ultrasounds, and medication, are being diligently administered to the injured. “The patients have been adjusted in different wards and are managed properly. The family members of the injured will also come from Uttar Pradesh, and they will also be managed,” he added.

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the victims. “Twenty-two people died in the tragic accident that happened yesterday. The others who have been injured in the accident are being treated in GMC Jammu. They are being treated nicely, and all facilities are being provided to them.”

In the aftermath of a tragic bus accident that claimed 22 lives and injured 64 others in Jammu district, six transport department officials were suspended on Friday for alleged dereliction of duty.

The incident occurred on Thursday when a bus carrying 86 devotees from Haryana’s Kurukshetra en route to the Shiv Khori shrine in Reasi district veered off the Jammu-Poonch highway and plunged into a 150-foot gorge. The driver lost control while navigating a blind curve at Tungi Morh in the Chowki Chora area.

Transport Department Secretary Niraj Kumar ordered the suspensions and a probe following a high-level meeting chaired by Principal Secretary of the Home Department Chandraker Bharti.

“Pending inquiry into the conduct and dereliction of duties, officials posted in the Regional Transport Office in Kathua (Lakhanpur) are placed under suspension with immediate effect and are attached to the office of the Transport Commissioner, Jammu,” Kumar stated in the order.

The suspended officials include Motor Vehicle Inspector Ranjeev Bhasin, Junior Assistant Sumit Magotra, and multi-tasking staff members Ashwani Kumar, Aman Kumar, Keshav Singh, and Rakesh Kumar.

Additional Secretary (Technical) Paramvir Singh will lead the inquiry into the conduct and performance of the suspended officials and is expected to submit a report with recommendations within a week.

The Jammu district magistrate has also initiated a magisterial inquiry into the incident, with a report expected within seven days. The district administration is monitoring the treatment of the injured, who are being cared for at the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of Jammu Sachin Kumar stated that the treatment of the injured is ongoing and that the administration is in contact with authorities in the passengers’ home regions of Hathras and Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.

A 24-hour helpline has been established to provide information and assistance to the relatives of the victims. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to those injured.

According to some injured passengers, the accident occurred when the driver was negotiating a blind curve and a speeding car approached from the opposite direction.

Today at about 1235 hrs, one Bus No. UP81CT-4058 carrying devotees from Kurukshetra, Haryana towards Shivkhori, Pouni, when reached near Tungi Morh, Chowki Choura the said Bus rolled down into deep gorge, as a result of which 21 passengers died and 40 passengers got injured. A passenger bus plunged into a 50-foot-deep gorge in the hills of Karauli village on the Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra border, approximately 40 kilometers from Burhanpur district headquarters, resulting in several injuries.

The incident occurred on Saturday between 5:00 am and 6:00 am, and the villagers immediately alerted the police upon discovering the bus. Villagers and police worked together to rescue the passengers.

According to injured passengers, the bus, carrying over 40 passengers, was en route from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, to Akola, Maharashtra.

One of the injured passengers, Narayan Singh, told ANI, “The bus was traveling from Indore to Akola. The accident occurred around 5:00 am in the morning. I was asleep… The bus driver is at fault for the accident… He was navigating through rough roads.” Following initial treatment at the nearest health center, all passengers were transferred to the District Hospital Burhanpur for further treatment. Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported, but all passengers sustained minor injuries.

Burhanpur Tehsildar Rajendra Singh Chauhan informed ANI, “I was informed about the bus accident, and the injured passengers are receiving treatment at the hospital. Currently, 19 individuals have been admitted.”

In Nepal’s Dang district, tragic bus accident claimed lives of 12 individuals, including two Indians

A fatal road accident in the Dang District of mid-western Nepal has resulted in the confirmed death of at least 12 individuals, including two Indian nationals, as confirmed by the police.

The incident occurred overnight at Bhalubang on Friday. The passenger bus, traveling from Banke’s Nepalgunj to Kathmandu, veered off a bridge and plunged into the Rapti River. Chief Inspector of Police at the Area Police Office, Bhalubang, Ujjwal Bahadur Singh, provided details over the phone, stating, “We only have ascertained the identity of eight deceased passengers, which includes two Indians.”

According to the police, an additional 22 passengers sustained injuries in the bus accident. The two Indian victims have been identified as Yogendra Ram (67) from Malahi, Bihar, and Mune (31) from Uttar Pradesh.

Chief Inspector Ujjwal Bahadur Singh mentioned, “The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Lamahi Hospital for postmortem.” Further details on the incident are awaited

1 dead, 8 injured: Surat bus accident

Seven people were injured and one died after a bus hit several vehicles in Surat on Saturday, as reported by the officials. The accident took place on Saturday night leading to seriously injure nine people. One of them died.

Shalini Agarwal, the commissioner of the Surat Municipal Corporation informed, “As many as nine people were injured (after a bus hit several vehicles) in the incident and one of them later succumbed to his injuries. The others are currently receiving treatment.”

State Education Minister Praful Pansheriya also visited the injured victims at the hospital. The municipal commissioner confirmed that the police is carrying out a proper investigation of the incident. “Based on the investigation report, we will take necessary action,” she added.

Murree: 28 passengers injured as bus overturns

According to rescue reports, at least 28 people were injured when their bus toppled in Pakistan’s Murree in the early hours of Friday.

While leaving Murree, a bus carrying 70 passengers going for Lahore toppled on the Murree Expressway. The incident injured 28 passengers, who were transferred to a local hospital. Their identification, however, was not established.

Six passengers were killed and nearly ten others were injured in an accident between a van and a bus in Pakistan’s Balochistan on Tuesday, according to ARY News. According to ARY News, the incident occurred near the Barkhan Radashim Buzdar petrol pump in the Loralai district.

Aligarh: Several injured as bus overturns

A bus overturned while trying to save a motorcyclist on Panethi Road near Harduaganj station in Aligarh, injuring several people.

The bus was carrying approximately 20-25 passengers who sustained minor injuries. The person on the bike sustained serious injuries, and bus passengers were sent to the hospital.

Circle Office Atroli, Mohsin Khan said, “On 23 July, at about 10:00 am, a bus which was carrying 20-25 passengers met with an accident while saving a bike.

“When Police reached the accident site, it was found that the bike rider was seriously injured and bus passengers were taken to the hospital for treatment.”

Himachal announces compensation for Kullu bus accident victims

The Himachal Pradesh government on Thursday announced relief and compensation for the victims of the bus accident in Kullu district that killed two persons and left six more injured.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh government, Sunder Singh Thakur said, “The government has announced an immediate relief of Rs 15,000 each to the injured and Rs 50,000 will be given as compensation to the kin of the deceased within a week”.
Two people lost their lives and six others were injured after a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus fell down a 150-meter-deep gorge in Kullu district on Wednesday.

According to the officials, the bus was coming from Nirogi to Bhuntar, and the accident happened when the bus was taking a turn. Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and started the relief work. The injured were taken to a regional hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment. “There were a total of seven people travelling in the bus, of whom two died on the spot while five, including the driver, sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment,” the officials said. One of the five injured is in critical condition.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Kullu Sakshi Verma said both the victims were identified as Godavari (40) and Vijay Kumar (30).

Wedding bus crash : 10 killed in Australia, driver arrested

According to authorities, the 58-year-old driver of the wedding party bus was detained after an accident that left up to 10 people dead in Australia’s Hunter wine region, north of Sydney.

Images on television showed the white coach, which was carrying guests to a neighbouring winery wedding, laying on its side after toppling late on Sunday night.Twelve emergency personnel were present, their cars’ coloured lights blazing in the foggy night, and they were all wearing high visibility yellow vests.

Multiple casualties are expected to rise after a bus crash in which 25 passengers were rushed to the hospital, two of whom were airlifted. The bus remains overturned with potential trapped individuals underneath. No children were involved. The coach driver underwent testing and is currently held at a nearby police station. Investigations into the accident are underway by New South Wales Police.

Delhi’s hit-and-run victim identified; driver arrested

A man who was mowed down in a hit-and-run near Delhi’s Indraprastha College red light has been identified and the bus driver who fled the scene has been apprehended, Delhi police said on Tuesday.

The accident took place in the early hours of 3 June when the bus driver Firoz Khan turn towards Outer Ring Road near IP College’s red light. The victim has been identified as Dhanvir Singh, 27, a citizen of Nepal. According to police, on 3 June at about 05:30 AM, a PCR call regarding an accident at the IP College traffic light was received in PS Civil Lines. The team reached the spot, where it was found that the injured had been shifted to Shushruta Trauma Centre, where he was declared dead on arrival.

No eyewitnesses were found and the deceased was not carrying identity proof. Subsequently, a case under sections 279/304-A of IPC was registered at Police Station Civil Lines and an investigation was initiated. Upon checking CCTV footage, police found that a bus coming from ISBT towards the IP College red light had hit the victim, who was crossing the road. After hitting the victim, the bus driver slowed down for a moment before suddenly speeding up and fleeing the scene.

The police team tracked the bus through backward routes using the CCTV footage. Images of the offender, as well as the bus, were extracted from footage from a nearby petrol pump. After continued efforts, the relatives of the deceased were traced and the deceased was identified as Dhanvir Singh, a resident of Bijul village, Nepal. He had been working in the national capital as a delivery person at a food canteen.

The bus driver was identified as Firoz Khan, a resident of Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. Khan has been arrested and the offending vehicle has been seized.

PM Modi offers Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia to families of deceased in Jammu Road accident

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed grief over the loss of lives in the road accident in Jammu and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand for people who sustained injuries.
At least 10 people were killed and around 55 injured when a bus fell into a deep gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Tuesday morning. “Expressing grief on the bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir, PM @narendramodi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” PMO tweeted.
According to officials, the bus was on its way to Katra from Amritsar when the incident took place near Jhajjar Kotli – about 15 km from Katra in Jammu district.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Chandan Kohli on Tuesday said that all the injured were shifted to the hospital and are undergoing treatment.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also expressed condolences.

Two Killed, Four Injured As Uttarakhand Roadways Bus Veers Off Road In Haridwar

According to the police, a tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning near Chandi Chowki Haridwar, resulting in two fatalities and four individuals sustaining serious injuries. The bus, operated by Uttarakhand Roadways and traveling from Rupahiya to Haridwar, veered off the road on Najibabad Road near Haridwar’s Chandi Chowk, crashing approximately 20 meters below the main road.

The casualties included the bus conductor and a 10-month-old girl. Police authorities informed that there were a total of 41 passengers on board at the time of the accident. J-K: One killed, 13 injured as bus overturns in Reasi

According to officials, one person was killed and 13 others were injured when a vehicle carrying Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims overturned in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district on Sunday.

According to Angrej Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Katra, “13 people were injured and one died after a bus met with an accident in Katra’s Muri area in Reasi district.”

The injured were immediately transported to a nearby hospital. More details are awaited.

12 injured after bus meets with accident in Sikkim’s Gangtok

A private bus carrying 23 children, two staff members, and the driver had an accident on Thursday in Singbel, Makha, in the Gangtok region, injuring up to 12 kids in all.
The 12 injured people, according to the reports, were taken urgently to the STNM Hospital and Central Referral Hospital in Gangtok. No fatalities have been reported, but three kids are in critical condition. More information is awaited.Further investigation is underway.

At least 10 passengers suffered injuries after a minibus overturned in Udhampur on Thursday. The tragic incident took place in Panjgrain, Ramnagar of Udhampur district. As per sources, the vehicle was on its way to Nagrota from Udhampur.

The ill fated incident happened after the bus driver lost control. Police and locals rushed the injured to a nearby hospital. According to authorities condition of one woman among the injured was critical resulting she was referred to Udhampur district hospital.
