</excerpt>

It was a big victory for Indian forces, as an important attempt at infiltration through the Line of Control (LoC) in Gambhir sector of Rajouri district was prevented on Sunday. Indian Army, assisted by Border Security Force (BSF), arrested a Pakistani citizen who was serving as the guide to heavily equipped Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists.

Infiltrators attempted to enter India via thick jungles and hilly areas, but alert troops staged a rapid counter-infiltration exercise. The arrested person, Mohammad Arib Ahmed of Kotli district of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), has provided vital information regarding the involvement of Pakistan Army.

Timely Intelligence Led to Operation

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, Indian troops launched a well-coordinated counter-infiltration operation in Rajouri’s Gambhir sector. Troops noticed suspicious movement by four to five armed individuals. These terrorists attempted to exploit poor visibility and rugged terrain to breach the LoC.

However, the aggressive surveillance posture of Indian Army paid off. Alert personnel intercepted the movement and engaged in a decisive operation. During this action, they captured one individual alive.

Arrested Guide Connected to Pakistan Army

The arrested individual was found to be Mohammad Arib Ahmed, son of Mohammad Yousuf, a local of Detote in Nikiyal, PoK. In initial interrogation, Arib admitted he was working under direction from Pakistan Army officials deputed at forward postings.

He also ascertained that the infiltrators were JeM terrorists. They had warlike material such as weapons, ammunition, and other incriminating materials. This strongly indicated a planned and sponsored attempt to infiltrate.

JeM Terrorists Wounded & Compelled to Retreat

The operation compelled the remaining four infiltrators to withdraw under intense pressure. Inclement weather and dense jungles assisted them in fleeing back across the LoC. They probably got injured in the exchange, though.

A subsequent search operation resulted in the retrieval of a mobile phone, Pakistani currency, and other sensitive materials. These are being analyzed.

Interrogation Provides Important Intel

The arrested guide is now undergoing intensive questioning by a joint intelligence team. Officials are obtaining valuable information that will serve to further tighten the counter-infiltration grid along the LoC.

The successful action of the Army not only thwarted a fatal incursion but revealed the still active support role of Pakistan’s army in assisting terror organizations.

</excerpt>

Pakistan launched 413 drone attacks in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sri Ganganagar districts, but all of them were neutralized mid-air by the air defence system of India, Border Security Force (BSF) Inspector General (Rajasthan Frontier) ML Garg informed on Monday.

Operation Sindoor Success Shared in Jodhpur Media Briefing in Rajasthan

During an interaction with the media at the BSF headquarters in Jodhpur, Mr Garg informed about the force’s success during Operation Sindoor along the Western Border.

He added that Pakistan’s military attacked sensitive targets in Rajasthan, such as the Phalodi air base, but the military forces retaliated with precise timing, precisely where and when needed.

Anti-Missile Tech Prevented Ground-Level Damage in Rajasthan

Mr Garg stated that the Pakistani missiles and drones were not hollow, but none of them were able to reach the Indian ground or cause any harm to any facility here, whether military or civilian.

“Before they could reach the ground, our anti-missile technology and air defence systems destroyed them mid-air,” he said, adding that this was precisely why there was no damage on the Indian side. Whatever fell on the ground was merely drone debris or empty missile shells, he said.

While some homes were inflicted with minor damage, like wall collapse and structural damage, Mr Garg was content that not even a single civilian casualty was reported on the Western Border.

Advance Planning with Modern Tech Averted Major Damage

“Prior preparation with modern resources prevented major loss,” he said.

Senior BSF officers were deployed in areas along the border during the conflict to further consolidate the security arrangements and provide a sense of security among the border dwellers, he added.

Questioned about the Indian preparations on the other side of the border during Operation Sindoor, Mr Garg informed that Pakistan had brought in its army on its border but not even an inch was retreated by a single Indian soldier.

</excerpt>

In a tragic turn of events early Saturday morning, Border Security Force (BSF) Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz was killed in unprovoked cross-border firing in the R S Pura sector of Jammu district. The firing was alleged to have been originated by Pakistani forces on Indian posts along the International Boundary.

Leading from the Front, He Made the Ultimate Sacrifice

Sub Inspector Imteyaz was leading a forward border outpost when the enemy opened fire. The BSF said he showed uncommon bravery and leadership in the face of danger. “While leading a BSF border outpost, he led from the front gallantly,” tweeted BSF Jammu Frontier.

The Border Security Force celebrated him as an authentic #Braveheart. “We pay homage to the highest sacrifice of BSF #Braveheart Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz in the service of the country,” the force said. His acts of bravery saved lives at the location. Tributes have since poured in on social media, and many have thanked and mourned for the hero who died.

A Growing Pattern of Violations Against India and BSF

This martyrdom is added to a disturbing trend of ceasefire breaches by Pakistan, particularly along sensitive areas like R S Pura. Despite earlier bilateral understandings for de-escalation, the region continues to be tense. Military sources indicate retaliatory action was taken to silence enemy locations.

Final Honours and National Salute

Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz will be given full military honors during his last rites. The BSF is working in coordination with local authorities to see that his mortal remains are taken to his native village in dignity and in respect. A formal statement by the Home Ministry is awaited soon.

The country pays tribute to the bravery of Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz a soldier who remained steadfast on the frontlines so others might sleep in peace. His sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his legacy will endure in the spirit of every jawan deployed at the border.

Pakistani Fighter Jet Shot Down in Pathankot Sector

Earlier, sources informed ANI that a Pakistani Air Force fighter aircraft was destroyed by Indian Air Defence systems in the Pathankot sector of Punjab. But official word from the government is yet to come, and more information is anticipated soon.

Defence officials also stated that the Indian Army downed two Pakistani drones in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The drones were caught in a thick exchange of artillery fire between Pakistani and Indian troops.

Pakistan Targets Indian Military Stations Near Border

Pakistan also attempted to attack military establishments in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, which are close to the International Border, as per the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff. The Indian Armed Forces retaliated heavily, and there was no casualty reported.

In a post on X, the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff stated: “Military Stations of Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur in proximity to the International Boundary, in Jammu and Kashmir targeted by Pakistan using missiles and drones. No losses. Threat neutralised by Indian Armed Forces as per SoP with kinetic and non-kinetic means.”

BSF and Amit Shah Review Border and Airport Security

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting on Thursday with the Director Generals of all border guarding forces to review the current security situation along India’s borders.

The meeting was focused on evaluating the preparedness and readiness of Indian forces after Pakistan launched a large-scale drone and missile attack on Indian regions, including Jammu and Rajasthan. Targeted areas included Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia, and Jaisalmer. All incoming missiles were intercepted by Indian air defence systems, and no major damage was reported.

In a separate meeting, the Home Minister also reviewed the security at airports across India with the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), in view of the heightened alert at key infrastructure locations.

Operation Sindoor: Indian Forces Strike Back

These developments come after India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 7. During the operation, the Indian Armed Forces carried out missile strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

According to Indian officials, the strikes targeted infrastructure linked to terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The operation was carried out in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 28 civilians.

</excerpt>

In a major security development, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a Pakistani Ranger on Saturday. He was caught trying to cross the India-Pakistan international border near Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan.

Troops React Swiftly

According to sources, BSF soldiers noticed the Ranger behaving suspiciously near the International Border. As a result, they quickly detained him before he could move deeper into Indian territory.

Initial Findings Raise Concerns

Reportedly, the man was unarmed and did not resist arrest. Still, security agencies have taken the incident very seriously. They have placed the individual under intense interrogation to uncover his identity and motive.

Investigation Underway

So far, officials have not confirmed the purpose of the intrusion. However, they are considering several possibilities — including espionage or an attempt to test India’s border defences.

No Official Details Shared Yet

Due to the sensitivity of the case, BSF has not revealed the Ranger’s name or the exact time of arrest. Nevertheless, sources confirmed the operation took place in the early morning hours.

Security Tightened in the Region

Following the arrest, BSF declared a high alert in the Sri Ganganagar sector. Consequently, additional forces were deployed, and night patrolling was intensified. Commanders have been instructed to stay vigilant for any further incidents.

Pattern of Suspicious Activities

Notably, this is not the first such case in Rajasthan. Border areas like Sri Ganganagar and Bikaner have seen a rise in cross-border smuggling and infiltration attempts in recent months.

Tensions Remain High

Meanwhile, relations between India and Pakistan remain strained. Continuous ceasefire violations and drone threats have kept BSF forces on heightened alert.

A senior officer remarked, “The arrest of a serving Pakistani Ranger is a significant breach. We are examining whether this was an isolated case or part of a larger plan. Intelligence inputs are being correlated, and Pakistani communication intercepts are under review.”

Possible Diplomatic Repercussions

Looking ahead, India may engage diplomatic channels to raise the issue with Pakistan. If confirmed as a deliberate act, the government could issue a formal protest.

Home Ministry Briefed

Lastly, the Ministry of Home Affairs has been informed of the situation. Top officials are now closely monitoring all developments.

</excerpt>

Security personnel defused a huge terror plot along the Amritsar border on April 30, revealing the ongoing threats along India’s western border. Acting on a particular intelligence input, Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police conducted a coordinated operation near Bharopal village. They recovered two hand grenades, three pistols, six magazines, and 50 live cartridges during the operation.

By acting swiftly, the teams averted a potential massive attack. They delivered the seized weapons for thorough forensic analysis. The incident again underlines the vulnerability of the region to cross-border incursions and the imperative of sustained vigilance, particularly with security agencies grappling with increasing threats of arms smuggling and drone-based deliveries.

Credible Intel, Quick Response

The Intelligence Wing of the BSF initiated the operation with timely inputs. Security forces did not hesitate and cleared the targeted area swiftly and efficiently. Their swift response resulted in the recovery of high-grade weapons—an operation that could have saved hundreds of lives. Their coordination indicates how intelligence-sharing is successful when agencies move in unison.

The fact that grenades and fully loaded weapons were seized indicates a sinister intention. The availability of assault-ready firearms indicates that there were pre-identified targets or timelines in mind for the attackers. Had the operation been postponed, Punjab could have seen another high-casualty attack. The recovery indicates not only a threat but a readiness to attack soon.

Punjab’s Risk Factor: A Persistent Challenge

Punjab’s border districts are still under constant pressure from the other side. The fact that Punjab is geographically close to Pakistan, coupled with its long tradition of infiltration, renders it a soft target for arms trafficking. During 2024 alone, numerous such interceptions have been recorded.

Terror groups and handlers frequently employ these areas as entry points into India. Such a trend makes Amritsar and surrounding regions particularly vulnerable to even slight lapses in vigilance.

When Forces Unite, Security Triumphs

This successful mission is more than excellent policing—more importantly, it demonstrates the effectiveness of coordination between BSF and Punjab Police in the field. These units regularly exchange actionable intelligence and mutually assist during ground operations. This results in an enhanced, faster response and higher deterrence.

While this instance was of hand-carried contraband, most recent efforts have employed drones to evade ground patrols. Terror organizations now blend human couriers with unmanned technology. This mixed model produces unstable threats. Agencies need to keep investing in radar detection, drone jammers, and AI-enabled surveillance equipment to remain one step ahead.

Community Surveillance: The Next Layer of Security

Aside from technology and tactical reaction, border communities can be the eyes and ears of security personnel. Most previous smuggling attempts were foiled because villagers reported suspicious movements. The government needs to invest in local awareness campaigns and promote public vigilance.

The seizure at Bharopal village confirms one thing—terror outfits continue to plot, but India’s defenses stay one step ahead. Security agencies now have to determine the source of the weapons, expose local accomplices, and fill gaps in the border watch network. Each successful interception makes it more expensive for the enemy—and saves lives in the bargain.

</excerpt>

The administration has brought peace back to Dhuliyan town in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. Protests broke out on April 11 over the Waqf (Amendment) Act. Authorities now say the situation is under control. To restore order, officials deployed BSF and CRPF troops. Their presence helped calm the unrest. Security forces are still patrolling the town to prevent further violence.

Shops and Properties Damaged

Many local shopkeepers suffered heavy losses during the violence. Miscreants damaged shops, broke windows, and looted valuables. One shop owner told ANI, “My entire building has been destroyed. All the glass has shattered. The rear side of the building was weak — it had wooden windows and doors. They broke through that and entered inside. They caused complete destruction and even looted some of our belongings. Opposite my building, I have a shop. They broke the shutter of that shop too. Monday was a bank holiday, so I received all the payments on Tuesday. I had around Rs13.5 lakh in cash with me. The cash was meant to be deposited at the bank, but it was all stolen. Apart from that, my shop had furniture and equipment worth Rs7-8 lakh, including chairs, tables, CPUs, computers, and laptops. Altogether, I had nearly Rs20-25 lakh in losses.”

Victims Seek Government Help

Another shopkeeper, Adhir Ravi Das, also shared his loss. He said, “My shop has been completely damaged. Nothing is left. If the administration helps, we will be able to open the shop, or else nothing can be done. Materials worth Rs 6-7 lakhs were in the shop; everything has been burnt. We want peace. Since BSF is here, the situation is normal. We don’t know what will happen if BSF is removed from here. We want a BSF camp here.”

Normalcy Returns Gradually

Meanwhile, some locals confirmed that the situation has improved. Shopkeeper Habib-ur-Rehman said, “The situation in Samserganj is normal now. The administration is asking us to open our shops and stay disciplined. The situation has changed after BSF and CRPF have been deployed.” Authorities continue to monitor the town. They have urged people to remain calm and return to their daily routines.

</excerpt>

In a fierce gunfight at the Kathua-Basantgarh border, security forces successfully neutralised two heavily armed terrorists. The intense encounter, which took place in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Udhampur district, left one additional terrorist critically injured. This latest operation reinforces the ongoing efforts to maintain peace in the region amidst rising tensions.

Operation Details and Forces Involved
The encounter was initiated following specific intelligence inputs about terrorist movements near the Kathua-Basantgarh border. Acting swiftly, joint teams of 1 Para and 22 Garhwal Rifles from the Indian Army, along with Jammu and Kashmir’s Special Operations Group (SOG), launched the operation early Wednesday morning. The high-altitude terrain and dense forest made the operation challenging, but security forces managed to engage and neutralize the threats efficiently.

According to the Public Relations Officer, Defence Jammu, contact with the terrorists was established after a thorough search operation. The heavily armed militants, believed to be part of a larger group planning attacks in the region, were cornered and engaged in a gunfight.

Cross-Border Tensions Escalate
In a related incident earlier the same day, a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was injured during unprovoked firing by Pakistani forces in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The BSF responded to the ceasefire violation at 2:35 a.m., ensuring that Indian forces were on high alert to prevent further escalation.

The growing tensions along the India-Pakistan border continue to pose challenges for the security forces. The increased vigilance by BSF and the Indian Army demonstrates India’s preparedness in defending its territorial integrity.

Security Forces’ Commitment
The involvement of elite forces like the 1 Para and Garhwal Rifles in operations such as the Kathua encounter showcases India’s commitment to neutralizing terrorist threats in the sensitive border regions. Over the past few months, security forces have intensified anti-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir, thwarting multiple infiltration attempts from across the border.

The successful completion of this operation underlines the dedication and bravery of the security forces as they continue to safeguard the region from both internal and external threats.

Implications for Jammu and Kashmir
The latest operation highlights the persistent threat posed by militant groups in Jammu and Kashmir. This year alone, several high-profile encounters have taken place across the Union Territory, with security forces dismantling key terror networks.

The Kathua-Basantgarh region, due to its strategic location, has become a focal point for anti-terrorist operations. These proactive measures are crucial in maintaining security and stability in Jammu and Kashmir, especially amidst increasing terrorist infiltration attempts.

According to a press release by the BSF, the search operation concluded around 8:10 AM with the successful recovery of the drone and a packet of suspected heroin, weighing approximately 536 grams. The narcotics were found wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, and the packet was equipped with a plastic ring and an illuminating stick. The recovery took place on the premises of Radha Swami Satsang, near the village of Naushera Dhalla in Tarn Taran.

The recovered drone has been identified as a China-made DJI MAVIC 3 Classic. The BSF stated that the operation was launched early in the morning on September 1, based on specific intelligence about the presence of a drone in the border area of Tarn Taran district.

The Punjab Frontier of the BSF praised the quick response of its troops, noting that their timely action successfully thwarted yet another attempt to smuggle narcotics into Punjab using drone technology from across the border.

This incident follows a similar operation last month when security forces recovered a drone during a joint search operation in the border area of Tarn Taran. On August 7, acting on the information provided by the BSF intelligence wing, BSF troops, and Punjab Police conducted a successful search operation in the area, resulting in the recovery of a fallen drone.

The BSF continues to maintain high vigilance along the border to prevent such illegal activities.

</excerpt>

In a joint operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and local police intercepted two Indian nationals attempting to smuggle a large quantity of sugar into Bangladesh near the Lyngkhat border area in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district. The operation, conducted by troops from the 4th Battalion of BSF Meghalaya, resulted in the seizure of three vehicles carrying approximately 74,000 kg of sugar.

According to a press release from the Meghalaya Frontier BSF, the suspects were stopped on Saturday while transporting the sugar in three trucks near the Indo-Bangladesh border. The drivers were unable to produce valid documents for the consignment, leading to their arrest. Both the sugar and the apprehended individuals have been handed over to Pynursla Police Station for further investigation and legal action.

The BSF Meghalaya, in a post on the social media platform X, said, “A successful joint operation by BSF Meghalaya and Meghalaya Police in East Khasi Hills led to the apprehension of two Indian nationals and the confiscation of 74,000 kg of sugar intended for smuggling into Bangladesh.”

This interception follows another operation by BSF Meghalaya on August 22, where four Bangladeshi nationals, including three women, were apprehended in the East Jaintia Hills district while attempting to infiltrate India. Two Indian facilitators aiding the illegal crossing were also arrested.

BSF Meghalaya has ramped up its efforts to combat illegal crossings and smuggling activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border, implementing a multi-tiered dominance strategy to curb such incidents. The intercepted illegal migrants and their accomplices have been handed over to local police for further legal proceedings.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the success of this operation in a post on X, congratulating the efforts of both the Assam Police and the BSF.

The apprehended individuals were identified as 36-year-old Mausum Khan and Sonia Akhtar, a 15-year-old from Dhaka. They had illegally entered India through the Madhoppur (BD)-Agartala route and planned to travel further to Bangalore, Karnataka. Chief Minister Sarma confirmed that, due to the effective coordination between the BSF and Assam Police, the two were successfully pushed back across the border the night before.

In a separate operation earlier, Assam Police detained three additional Bangladeshi nationals who had entered India from the Tripura side. These individuals were also pushed back to Bangladesh. The districts of Cachar, Karimganj, Dhubri, and South Salmara in Assam, which share a border with Bangladesh, have been the focus of increased border security.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the BSF in Meghalaya thwarted an infiltration attempt in the West Jaintia Hills district. During this operation, they apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals—two men and one woman—along with three Indian facilitators. This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance surveillance and border security along the Indo-Bangladesh border.

The recent unrest in Bangladesh, sparked by demands for reforms to the quota system for civil service jobs, has led to a surge in border security measures. The BSF in both Meghalaya and Assam is on high alert, aiming to prevent illegal crossings and crack down on smuggling operations. The heightened vigilance reflects ongoing concerns over national security amid the protests in Bangladesh.

The celebrations on Thursday included a flag-hoisting ceremony, a weapon exhibition, and cultural performances, reflecting the patriotic spirit of the day.

The flag was hoisted by IG Dhillon, who extended his heartfelt wishes to the BSF personnel, students, and citizens present at the event. He encouraged the young students to uphold national values and become responsible citizens of India. Dhillon also conveyed his greetings to the people of Meghalaya and BSF personnel deployed at the India-Bangladesh border.

In a gesture of goodwill, sweets were distributed to the personnel guarding the border, fostering a spirit of camaraderie. The BSF also organized a weapon exhibition for local students, giving them an opportunity to learn more about the defense equipment used by the forces.

Adding to the celebrations, students from BSF Schools presented cultural programs, showcasing the nation’s rich heritage and diversity. The performances highlighted the unity and collective spirit of the nation on this significant day.

As part of the larger ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ was held in Shillong on the eve of Independence Day, organized by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). CRPF personnel marched through the streets, waving the national flag and singing patriotic songs, promoting the initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to encourage citizens to display the tricolour at their homes.

Inspector General Piyush Patel Purushottam Das of the BSF confirmed that the force has implemented various proactive measures to maintain security and stability in the border regions.

“We are aware that disturbances in a neighbouring country can have spillover effects,” IG Patel stated.

“Accordingly, we have increased our operational preparedness. All our commanding officers are stationed at the border check posts, supervising and monitoring the situation closely. We have moved all necessary resources towards the border to ensure full security and maintain law and order,” he added further.

India has an 856-kilometer border with Bangladesh, with 96% already fenced.
“27.5 kilometres of the unfenced areas are under active construction,” IG Patel noted.

“Additionally, some existing fences have sustained damage, and we have requested the Central government to expedite reconstruction efforts. The government has responded positively, and repair work will commence soon,” he stated further.

The BSF’s increased vigilance is designed to mitigate any negative effects from the instability in Bangladesh.
A woman traveler hailing from Howrah district, West Bengal, was apprehended at the BSF checkpoint located at the Ghojadanga land customs station while attempting to illegally transport Rs. 4,02,200 in Indian currency and 10,500 Bangladeshi Taka from India to Bangladesh.

Prompt action was taken by the BSF troops at the Check Post (BCP) following specific intelligence received on June 7, 2024, regarding a passport passenger endeavoring to smuggle a considerable sum of Indian currency. The troops were placed on high alert.

Upon conducting routine baggage inspection, the BSF team intercepted the woman and discovered the concealed currencies in multiple poly bags within her luggage. Her inability to provide valid documentation and inconsistent statements further aroused suspicion, leading to her immediate apprehension and subsequent questioning at the Ghojadanga outpost.

During interrogation, the woman disclosed her frequent trips to Bangladesh to visit her younger sister in Kushkhali, Satkhira.
