</excerpt>

At least ten laborers lost their lives and six others sustained injuries in a bomb blast in southwest Pakistan, a government official confirmed on Friday. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

“Ten mine workers were killed in an attack in Harnai district,” Shahzad Zahri informed AFP.

The workers were traveling from their worksite to a market for shopping when an improvised explosive device (IED) blast hit their vehicle.

The attack took place in Harnai, a district situated over 160 kilometers (104 miles) from Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan. Although no group has claimed responsibility so far, the Baloch Liberation Army—which has previously carried out deadly attacks on security forces and non-Baloch residents, particularly Punjabis—has a history of similar assaults in the region.

</excerpt>

A man detonated explosives outside Brazil’s Supreme Court on Wednesday evening, officials reported, raising security concerns just days before global leaders arrive for the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. The incident, which authorities suggest was a suicide, also precedes a state visit to Brasília by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The first of two explosions occurred in a nearby parking lot, followed moments later by a second blast directly in front of the court building, where the man’s body was found. Preliminary investigations indicated he had attempted to enter the Supreme Court building before setting off the explosives. Authorities linked the explosions to a vehicle owned by the man, in which another blast had reportedly blown open the trunk.

Federal District Vice-Governor Celina Leão stated that early findings point to a “lone wolf” attack, though she emphasized that this is still unconfirmed. “We are considering it as a suicide because there was only one victim. But investigations will show if that was indeed the case,” she added. Police have yet to identify the man and are proceeding cautiously due to possible remaining explosives on the body.

The blasts took place in Brasília’s Plaza of the Three Powers, a prominent square that houses Brazil’s key government buildings, including the Supreme Court, Congress, and presidential office. This area was the site of riots in January of last year when supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro stormed these buildings to contest his electoral defeat.

In response to the explosions, police deployed a bomb squad and utilized an explosive disposal robot to secure the area. The Supreme Court confirmed that its justices had completed their session and were safely evacuated. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva had also left the executive palace shortly before the incident.

This security breach heightens concerns as Brazil prepares to welcome international leaders to the G20 summit, drawing attention to potential risks in the heart of the Brazilian capital.

</excerpt>

A remote-controlled bomb detonated near a police van in Wana Rustam Bazar, South Waziristan, on Monday, injuring 13 individuals, including six police officers and seven civilians. The attack took place on Kir Kot Road while police were securing an ongoing anti-polio campaign, according to a hospital source quoted by Geo News.

Police quickly responded to the scene, with rescue teams transporting the wounded to District Headquarters Hospital Wana. One critically injured person was later transferred to Dera Ismail Khan for advanced treatment. Medical Superintendent Hamad Mahmood confirmed the injured included both civilians and police personnel, with the blast targeting one of two police vehicles assigned to protect polio workers.

Authorities have sealed off the area, and an investigation is underway to capture those responsible, according to Geo News.

District Health Officer Inayat Rahman said the anti-polio campaign, which began today, aims to vaccinate about 70,000 children aged five and older. To ensure the safety of the 297 polio teams involved, 480 police officers have been deployed across the district.

This attack underscores the ongoing risks to both security forces and polio teams operating in Pakistan’s volatile north-western regions. Over the past decade, numerous assaults on polio workers have been reported, creating a dangerous atmosphere for those involved in vaccination campaigns, Geo News reported.

Earlier this year, similar attacks in Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts also led to injuries among police officers on polio duty, further highlighting the persistent threats in these areas.

</excerpt>

On Saturday, a blast in Balochistan’s Pishin district resulted in the deaths of two children and a woman, with 13 others, including two policemen, injured. The explosion occurred at a busy market near Surkhab Chowk, a site frequently targeted in recent attacks on police and checkposts, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

The attack comes amid escalating violence following the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) breach of a ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022. According to Wakeel Sherani, the medical superintendent at Pishin Civil Hospital, two children were confirmed dead, and initially, 14 people were injured. Thirteen of the injured were referred to the Quetta Trauma Centre, where a woman later died from her injuries. Five others remain in serious condition, two have minor injuries, and three are still receiving treatment.

Pishin City Station House Officer (SHO) Mujibur Rehman reported that the explosive material was apparently planted in a motorcycle, leading to the damage of three vehicles. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and the Bomb Disposal Squad are investigating the site for evidence.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, describing it as an act of cowardice and calling for exemplary punishment for those responsible. This incident follows a recent attack in Noshki district and another blast last month in Pishin targeting a CTD vehicle. On the same day, a soldier from the Frontier Corps South was killed, and seven others were injured in Kech district’s Buleda area.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Kolhapur police suggest that the incident occurred shortly after the attendance of jail inmates was recorded around 6:30 am on Sunday. Following this routine procedure, inmates were escorted to an open space near a water tank at circle number 2 within the prison premises, as reported by Indian Express.

Reports indicate that a violent altercation ensued between Munna and five fellow inmates when he approached the water tank for bathing. During the altercation, the accused allegedly assaulted Munna, who was involved in the Mumbai Bomb Blast, by repeatedly striking his head with a manhole cover.

According to Kolhapur SP Mahendra Pandit, Munna’s assailants are five undertrials facing charges under sections of the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The accused have been identified as Deepak Netaji Khot, Saurabh Vikas Siddha, Pratik alias Pilya Suresh Patil, Sandip alias Bablu Shankar Chavan, and Ruturaj Inamdar.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway as authorities seek to ascertain the circumstances leading to Munna’s tragic demise within the confines of the Kolhapur Central Prison.

</excerpt>

In Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara, an explosion at an explosive factory on Saturday morning resulted in one fatality and injured at least six others, as reported by news agency ANI. In response, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai ordered an investigation and announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for the family of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai posted on X, stating, “Orders have been given for a magisterial inquiry into the explosion at the gunpowder factory in Borsi village of Bemetara district and to provide financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to the family of the deceased and ₹50,000 to the injured. </excerpt>

A bomb was thrown in front of a police car on Monday morning in Kannur, Kerala. There are currently no confirmed casualties. The bomb went off in Chakarakall Bavot while a police patrol was in progress. The police jeep was confronted by two ‘ice cream bombs’. The event happened this morning at four in the morning.

The bomb was thrown on the road about 25 meters in front of the police jeep.

Notably, this incident happened in the area where conflict between CPM-BJP exists.

On Sunday, there was a clash between the CPM and the BJP regarding the temple festival of Chakarakal Bavot.

Following this, the area’s police presence was increased. Searches were done by a dog squad and a bomb squad. Who tossed the bomb hasn’t been identified, though. An investigation into the incident has been launched by the police.

“After the clashes on Sunday, tight patrolling was provided in the area. However two bombs were thrown near the police vehicle on Monday morning. Bomb squad accompanied by a dog squad conducted a search in the area. We have not identified the culprits yet,” police informed.

</excerpt>

Five blasts at a pro-Iranian military base in Iraq on Saturday resulted in at least three injuries, according to CNN, which cited a security official. The cause of the explosions is unknown at this time, though.

Notably, the explosions occurred at a location associated with the Popular Mobilisation Units (PMU), according to Muhannad al-Anazi, a Security Committee member in the Babylon Governorate, which is located south of Baghdad.

Launched “at the Kalsu military base in the Al-Mashrou district on the highway, north of the Babylon Governorate,” the bombings are currently being investigated.

The explosion occurred one day after an allegedly Israeli-led military operation on Iran, according to US and Israeli sources.

Known alternatively as the Popular Mobilization Forces, the PMU is an Iraqi paramilitary group that is mostly supported by Shiite Iran. The PMU, in contrast to other Iran-backed organizations in the area, is affiliated with the local administration and has strong ties to Shiite blocs in Iran that have dominated Iraqi politics for a long time, according to CNN.
The explosion occurred during a period of intense tension in the Middle East as Israel fights Hamas in Gaza following the terrorist organization’s deadly assault into southern Israel on October 7, which was sponsored by Iran.

This month’s tit-for-tat strikes have also exposed Israel and Iran’s long-running covert conflict. Israel launched a potentially deadly military strike on Iran early on Friday, a US official told CNN. Although no significant damage was recorded, Iran and Israel have not stated where the strike originated.

Iran’s air defence systems were activated in several locations after multiple explosions were heard close to the airport and an army base in the Iranian city of Isfahan, state media reported early Friday morning.

The missile launches come after Iran launched an offensive on targets around Israel on Saturday last week, according to Israeli military authorities, in which the nation fired a barrage of over 300 unmanned drones and missiles.

</excerpt>

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited injured victims of the Rameshwaram Cafe blast who were being treated in Bengaluru hospitals on Saturday, giving them assurances that their medical costs will be paid for by the government.

“Government will bear the treatment charges of all the patients. Around ten people are injured. Three are here in the Brookfield Hospital and six others are admitted in Vydehi Hospital. I am also going there. The patients are recovering and responding very well to the treatment” Siddaramaiah told reporters.

The chief minister also paid a visit at the well-known eatery in the city’s Whitefield area to the spot where the March 1 Blast occurred.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar, the Medical Director of Brookfield Hospital, said, “We are happy with the overall response of all three patients admitted at our hospital. A patient in the ICU has had a post-operative turbulent period. As a result of her surgery and anesthesia effects, her BP was low and her blood sugar levels were high. Her overall condition is fine and showing signs of improvement… Psychological help to boost their confidence and overcome stress is also being provided to the patients. Other patients will be discharged in another 24-48 hours.”

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai, meanwhile, criticised the Congress over the bomb incident, claiming that leaders of the ruling party assist the anti-national elements.

“From Day one this government has failed in maintaining law and order. Anti-national elements are getting a lot of support from the leaders of the ruling party and the morale of police has gone low. Huge corruption in the transfer of police has brought inefficient people to important positions. All the anti-social elements are now roaming in the city and now they have got the guts to put the bomb in Bengaluru city. This is linked to terrorist elements and there are some sleeper cells in Bengaluru. During our time, we detected 15 of them (sleeper cells) and put them behind bars. Appeasement politics by this govt has led to all this. The case should be handed over to the NIA and if this is not done, this govt should quit,” Bommai said.

</excerpt>

Afghanistan’s Kabul witnessed a massive explosion on Thursday that brutally killed 2 people and left 12 people injured. The Kabul security department spokesperson appointed by Taliban named Khalid Zadran said that the explosion was due to the grenade blast that occurred in Kabul’s PD 18. Further investigations are being carried out to find out the perpetrator.

Apart from this blast a separate explosion was reported in the northern Mazar-e-Sharif. Further information over the casualties is yet to be shared reported the Khaama Press.

The United Nations mission in Afghanistan indicated that the blast specifically targeted the ethnic Hazari community in the western Dasht-e-Barchi area of Kabul. The repeated instances of violence and explosions in the Taliban occupied country showcases the ongoing security barriers that the country’s citizens face.
Whereas the ISIS- Khurasan has claimed responsibility for the attack on the civilians in Kabul’s “Qala-e-Nazir Station,” which claimed the lives of two people and injured 14 others, according to media report.
Previously, seven people were killed and about 20 people were injured in the bomb blast or can call attack on a city bus in the Dasht-e-Barchi area.
Since the time the Taliban has take control over Afghanistan, taking care of security is a key challenge that is face by the group. The nation continues to witness terror attacks that results in the loss if the lives of innocent civilians.

</excerpt>

On Monday, a Special NIA court issued a Rs10,000 bailable order against an ATS officer for failing to appear in court to record his statement in the Malegaon 2008 Blasts case trial.
The officer in question was a member of the ATS’s initial investigation team and had recorded statements from various witnesses in the case. On May 2, the judge has ordered him to remain in court to record his statement.

Previously, in March, the Supreme Court denied Lt. Col Prasad Purohit’s petition challenging the Bombay High Court order dismissing his petition seeking discharge in the Malegaon 2008 blast case due to a lack of sanction from the Indian Army to prosecute him in the case under section 197(2) of the CrPC.

The Supreme Court remarked that the challenge here is against the High Court’s order, which stated that sanction is not required under section 197(2) of the Cr.P.C. for the petitioner’s prosecution because his impugned conduct is unrelated to any of his official obligations.
“Having noted the basis of the impugned judgment, we see no reason to interfere with it,” the court ruled.
Six persons were murdered and over 100 others were injured on September 29, 2008, when an explosive device put on a motorbike exploded in Maharashtra’s Malegaon city in Nashik town.

Later, Sameer Kulkarni, retired Major Ramesh Upadhyay, Sudhakar Chaturvedi, Ajay Rahilkar, and Sudhakar Chaturvedi were apprehended.
After completing its investigation, the ATS submitted a charge sheet in the matter on January 20, 2009.
The inquiry into the matter was handed over to the NIA by the national government in April 2011.

Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel have been deployed across Coimbatore on Tuesday, following the incident in which a man was charred to death in a car explosion triggered by an LPG gas cylinder blast. Security has been increased across the city.

The RAF has been sent in to conduct security and search operations in public spaces, including bus stops and train stations. After a man was burned to death when the automobile he was riding in exploded at Ukkadam, close to the well-known Sangameshwarar temple in the city, on Sunday morning, Coimbatore City Police detained five individuals late on Monday night.

The accused, identified as Mohammed Dhalha, Mohammed Azarudeen, Mohammed Riyas, Feroz Ismail, and Mohammed Navaz Ismail, have been remanded to police custody.

The body of the deceased recovered from the blast site has been identified as 25-year-old Jamesa Mubin.

The images from the nearby CCTV camera appeared to show five people allegedly removing a gunny bag from Mubeen’s home on Saturday, according to the police.
Police claim they found materials necessary to construct crude explosives, including potassium nitrate, aluminium, and sulphur, during a search of Mubin’s home in Ukkadam’s Kottaimedu neighbourhood.

We have also recovered nails and ball bearings from the spot where the explosion happened. We have identified the source of the cylinders and the car. This could not be a suicide attack, “said state Director General of Police C Sylendra Babu.

K Annamalai, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tamil Nadu, asserted that the incident was a terrorist act with ties to ISIS. He also raised concerns about the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) administration’s reluctance to properly investigate the explosion.

Taking to Twitter, Annamalai said, “Coimbatore Cylinder Blast is no more a ‘cylinder blast’. It’s a clear-cut terror act with ISIS links. Will CM Stalin come out in the open and accept this? For the past 12 hours, the TN government has been withholding this information. Is this not a clear failure of the state intelligence machinery and the DMK Govt.? ”
He further claimed that terror elements were active in the state.
“The accused who died during the course of planning this attack had clear-cut links to ISIS and was handled from outside the country. Still, some of the elements are active in TN soil. Go mercilessly after these nodes. “CM M.K. Stalin, please come out of your hiding and own your failure,” he added.

Eight people were killed and 18 were injured when at least two explosives burst outside a prison in Yangon, the commercial centre of Myanmar, the junta reported.

The junta’s information team said in a statement that the explosions struck a throng waiting up to deliver packages for prisoners at Insein Prison on Wednesday morning, although it did not indicate how many explosions had taken place.

The junta said “terrorists” were responsible.

Local media, citing prison officials, said at least three prison staff were among the dead.

Pictures appearing in the local media that were allegedly taken in the aftermath showed what seemed to be bloodstains on the floor around a counter and broken windows in the background.

Security officers reportedly sealed down the area around the large colonial-era prison, which rights groups claim is home to hundreds of inmates who were detained by the junta as part of its campaign against dissent.

Since the military overthrew the government in a coup last year, the nation of Southeast Asia has been in upheaval.

To oppose the junta, self-declared civilian “people’s defence forces” have appeared all around the nation.
