SP chief Akhilesh Yadav unveiled the statue of his father and SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav in Lucknow on the birth anniversary of the late leader in a ceremony attended by senior party leaders, supporters, and family members.

Addressing the gathering, Akhilesh Yadav paid tribute to the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and described him as a towering figure in Indian politics. He said, “Netaji’s vision and leadership continue to inspire millions. This statue stands as a symbol of his contributions to the state and the nation.”

Strongly accredited as “Netaji” to his fans, Mulayam Singh Yadav was the founder of the Samajwadi Party, established in 1992, and was a strong element defining the political scenario of Uttar Pradesh. His grassroots connections combined with social justice focus made him a dominant force until his death.

The unveiling ceremony also featured cultural programs and speeches highlighting the former leader’s life and achievements. Party workers expressed their gratitude to Akhilesh Yadav for keeping Netaji’s memory alive through such initiatives.

Grand Procession Held In Bodh Gaya On Buddha Purnima

On the auspicious occasion of the 2,568th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha, a grand procession was held in Bodh Gaya, located in the Gaya district of Bihar, on Thursday morning. Thousands of devotees from various states and countries, including Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Tibet, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Bhutan, gathered for the event. A key highlight of the procession was the devotees carrying the Panchsheel flag while chanting the slogan “Buddham Sharanam Gachchami.”

In addition to celebrating Lord Buddha’s birth anniversary, the devotees also observed Trividh Jayanti. This significant day marks three important events: Lord Buddha’s birth, his enlightenment, and his Mahaparinirvana, all of which are believed to have taken place on Vaishakh Purnima.

A large crowd lined the streets to witness the grand procession, which traveled through various points before concluding at the Mahabodhi Temple, a World Heritage Site. The journey began near the impressive 80-feet-tall statue of Lord Buddha.

Speaking with ANI, Bhante Aryapal, a Buddhist monk and participant in the procession, said, “Today we are celebrating the 2,568th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha along with the Trividh Jayanti, because on this occasion of Vaishakh Purnima, he was born, attained enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana, which is not possible for any common man. Such an alignment of events is extraordinary and not possible for an ordinary person. That is the reason why we are celebrating Trividh Jayanti too.” He added, “We are also praying to Lord Buddha to bring peace and welfare to the entire world. Devotees from many countries including Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Tibet, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Bhutan, have participated in the procession.”

Buddha Purnima is the most significant day for the Buddhist community as it commemorates the three crucial events in Buddha’s life: his birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana.

In 2020, the renowned actor passed away at his residence in Bandra, sparking numerous controversies. The actor’s death prompted a thorough investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from various perspectives.

After his unfortunate death, his residence in Patna was transformed into a memorial, adorned with the late actor’s belongings such as his telescope, books, and guitar. Sushant Singh Rajput, who marked his entry into Bollywood with ‘Kai Po Che,’ was celebrated for his compassionate demeanor, always treating his fans with genuine warmth. He gained immense popularity after the success of ‘M.S Dhoni – The Untold Story.’

The nation is remembering Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati’s 200^th birth anniversary on Sunday. Regarding this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the year-long celebrations commemorating the 200th birth anniversary of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in the national capital today.

On this auspicious occasion, the Prime Minister first performed puja and yagna in the presence of Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Meenakshi.

Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, was born on 12th February 1824. He was a social worker and always wanted reform in society. As a result, in 1875, he established the Arya Samaj to combat the prevalent social discriminations in society at the time.

Arya Samaj had played a vital role in bringing about social awakening among the people through its reforms and worked energetically to improve the conditions of women. Other notable work of the Arya Samaj included establishing shelter for widows, setting up educational institutions, and so on.

The government is adamant about celebrating the birth anniversaries of social reformers and other important personalities, whose contributions were immense but whose works were not highlighted on a pan-India scale.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the initiative to show due respect for such social reformers. Earlier, PM Modi had declared the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Muda as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, and he also participated in a programme commemorating Sri Aurobindo’s 150th birth anniversary.

‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ will spread message of “ahimsa and swaraj”: Rahul Gandhi

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 153rd birth anniversary, Congress Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to him on Sunday and said while it is convenient for those in power to appropriate the legacy of the “Father of the Nation”, it is difficult to walk in his footsteps.

Rahul Gandhi also said amid the politics of violence and lies, the Congress’s ongoing ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ will spread a message of “ahimsa and ‘swaraj”.

Rahul Gandhi visited to Khadi Gramodyaga Kendra that Mahatma Gandhi had previously visited at Badanavalu, Karnataka, in 1927.

“We remember and pay our respects to that great son of India. Our remembering is made more poignant by the fact that we are on the 25th day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a padyatra in which we are walking his path of ahimsa, unity, equality and justice,” the former Congress leader said in a statement.

“Just as Gandhiji fought the British Raj, we … (have) embarked on a battle with the very ideology that killed Gandhi. This ideology has delivered inequality, divisiveness and the erosion of our hard-won freedoms in the past eight years. Against this politics of himsa (violence) and ‘asatya’ (lies), the Bharat Jodo Yatra will spread the message of Ahimsa and Swaraj from Kanyakumari to Kashmir,” he added.

The ideology that killed Gandhi, according to the former president of the Congress, has reflected in inequity, division, and the erosion of hard-won freedoms over the past eight years.

Rahul Gandhi attended a prayer meeting after presenting flowers to the Gandhi statue at Khadi Gramodyog earlier in the day.

“With Gandhi ‘topi’ on his head, Bapu’s values in his heart and intention to unite India, Rahul Gandhi along with other participants of Bharat Jodo Yatra visited Khadi Village Industries at Badnavalu in memory of Bapu on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti,” tweeted Congress.

Gandhi also interacted with women weavers, talked about their professional struggles and difficulties. He planted trees with the help of Bharat Yatris Khadi Garmodyog, Badanavalu.
