Sana Makbul Of Bigg Boss OTT 3 Opens Up About Non-Alcoholic Hepatitis: What You Need To Know

June 28, 2024, 2:53 am

Television actor and model Sana Makbul, a contestant on Bigg Boss OTT 3, became emotional while discussing her battle with liver disease. She tearfully revealed suffering from non-alcoholic hepatitis, despite never having consumed alcohol in her life. Making a tearful confession, she said, “I’ve non- alcoholic Hepatitis – a liver disease. I’m one of those people who have never tasted alcohol in my life but has yet been diagnosed with it. People get to know about their liver disease mostly when they are in the last stage of it. I’ve been lucky in that case as I got to know about it pretty early.”

Sana added, “In 2021 I didn’t understand what I was going through. There were days where I couldn’t even get up from the bed.”

According to an HT report Dr Rajiv Kovil, Head of Diabetology at Zandra Healthcare and Co-Founder of Rang De Neela initiative stated, “Non-alcoholic hepatitis, also known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), is a condition characterised by the accumulation of fat in the liver. This condition is not caused by excessive alcohol consumption, as the name suggests, but rather by a variety of factors that can lead to the development of liver inflammation and damage.”

Causes

Dr Rajiv Kovil revealed, “Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a leading cause of liver disease worldwide. The estimated global incidence of NAFLD is 47 cases per 1,000 population and is higher among males than females In India The prevalence of NAFLD is found to be more than 25% globally and 9% to 32% in the general Indian population. The exact causes of non-alcoholic hepatitis are not fully understood, but it is believed to be linked to factors such as obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic disorders. Individuals with conditions like type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure are at a higher risk of developing non-alcoholic hepatitis.”

Symptoms

The development of non-alcoholic hepatitis can vary from person to person. Dr Rajiv Kovil informed, “In some cases, the condition may remain relatively mild, with the liver able to function normally despite the presence of fat. However, in more severe cases, the inflammation can lead to the development of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which can eventually progress to cirrhosis (scarring of the liver) and even liver failure.”

He added, “Symptoms of non-alcoholic hepatitis are often subtle in the early stages and may include fatigue, abdominal discomfort, and a feeling of fullness. As the condition worsens, individuals may experience more severe symptoms, such as jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), fluid retention and difficulty with blood clotting.”

Treatment

According to Dr. Rajiv Kovil, treatment for non-alcoholic hepatitis usually focuses on addressing the root causes responsible for the condition. He explained, “This may include weight loss through diet and exercise, management of diabetes or other metabolic disorders, and the use of medications to reduce inflammation and improve liver function. On March 14, 2024, resmetirom (Rezdiffra) became the first drug approved by the US FDA for treating patients with noncirrhotic nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH; recently renamed metabolic dysfunction–associated steatohepatitis, or MASH) and moderate-to-advanced hepatic fibrosis.”

He elaborated, “Resmetirom is a pill that activates the thyroid hormone receptor that reduces liver fat accumulation. Treatment with glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide may reduce the risk of developing cirrhosis, liver cancer, and other adverse liver outcomes in adults with type 2 diabetes and chronic liver disease, though none of them have got a labeled indication to treat NAFLD. In cases where the condition has progressed to cirrhosis or liver failure, more intensive treatments, such as liver transplantation, may be necessary.”

Timely identification and treatment of non-alcoholic hepatitis are critical to preventing the progression to more severe liver diseases. Regular medical examinations and lifestyle adjustments are essential in managing this condition and enhancing liver health overall.

As the saying goes, ‘Too many cooks spoil the broth!’ This aptly describes the situation inside the BB OTT 3 house, where an abundance of cooks quickly depleted the weekly food supply within just two days, prompting Bigg Boss to implement stringent measures.

Viewers of BB OTT 3 witnessed intense conflicts among contestants over rationing, dietary preferences, and portion control. Sai Ketan Rao, Ranvir Shorey, Sana Makbul Khan, and others clashed over ration supplies, leading to a situation where housemates were left surviving solely on fruits and boiled water for nearly 24 hours.

The disputes escalated from debates on vegetarian versus non-vegetarian diets to disagreements over sharing food intended for specific dietary preferences. Ranvir stirred up drama around these issues, while Sai and Sana argued over the consumption of eggs. As tensions mounted inside the BB house, housemates began dividing food individually, quickly depleting the ration supply within 48 hours. The last packet of poha sustained the contestants until Monday’s breakfast.

Despite expectations for additional supplies from Bigg Boss, contestants received only fruits. By Monday night, all 16 contestants went to bed hungry, with no food left. As Tuesday morning approached, contestants grew impatient and started demanding food from Bigg Boss.

Amidst the chaotic atmosphere inside the house, one contestant resorted to surviving on only two tablespoons of Moringa water in the living room. This led Sana to lose her temper and even threaten the producers. While other contestants pleaded with Bigg Boss to provide food, Sana directed her frustration towards the makers for the perceived mistreatment they were enduring. She also mentioned, ‘Starvation is not written in my contract, and if this is the case, we shall deal with things legally.’ Chandrika Dixit, also known as Vada Pav, expressed her support for Sana.

Bigg Boss SLAMS the BB OTT 3 housemates

For those catching up, a day prior to the recent drama, wrestler Neeraj Goyat criticized Bigg Boss and the producers for supplying cigarettes to the house while neglecting basic food necessities. In response, Sana protested, prompting Bigg Boss to reprimand contestants for wasting food on their first day in the house.

Bigg Boss also questioned the kitchen management skills of housemates Payal Malik, Kritika Malik, and Chandrika, and eventually, after an activity, some food was provided. This incident sparked significant debate on social media, with netizens divided on whether the producers’ actions were justified.

“Would Have Been Happier If Salman Khan Hosted Bigg Boss OTT 3 Instead”, Says Ranvir Shorey

June 22, 2024, 12:57 pm

Bigg Boss OTT 3 started streaming on JioCinema this Friday, featuring actor Ranvir Shorey as one of the contestants. In an interview, Ranvir shared his mixed emotions regarding Anil Kapoor replacing Salman Khan as the host this year. He expressed disappointment upon discovering that Salman would not be hosting the show.

Ranvir said, “If Salman sir had been hosting the show, it would have made me happier as I have worked with him in the past, and it would have been in my favor as a contestant. But Anil sir is a legend and a very charming person and brings with him a certain hugeness, so I am quite excited but also hoping that he will cut me some slack.”

Ranvir Shorey revealed that he has been offered Bigg Boss OTT 3 every year but couldn’t participate until now. He accepted this year because his son Haroon, whom he shares with ex-wife Konkona Sen Sharma, is in the US for summer vacation, and he had no major work. He also needed a screen detox.

Ranvir also discussed how he plans to survive inside the Bigg Boss house. He said, “I am not the coolest person, I tend to lose my calm over small issues. So, this is going to be a challenge for me. But I’m not going under any pressure. Also, limited food is going to be a challenge. But I’m hoping they’ll give us sufficient food to survive. I’m sure they’re not calling us to starve. But I am going to keep telling myself, you’re just going to be here for a month or so, so chill. My strategy is to keep myself busy. Doing household chores, doing exercises, and healing my body.”

The grand premiere of Bigg Boss OTT season 3 took place on Friday with Anil Kapoor as the new host. In a recent press conference, Anil spoke about his new role as the host.

He said, “Bigg Boss OTT and I are a dream team! We’re both young at heart; people often say – jokingly – that I’m reverse aging, but Bigg Boss is – seriously – timeless.”

“Salman ko koi replace nahi kar sakta aur Anil Kapoor ko bhi koi replace nahi kar sakta…bhai (Salman Khan) bahot khush hai…meri unse baat bhi hui hai …he is very excited and happy knowing that I am doing non-fiction.” Anil shared details of his conversation with Salman Khan, highlighting the actor’s encouragement and enthusiasm about Anil taking on his role.

June 6, 2024, 3:44 am

Actor Anil Kapoor sparks excitement among fans with a recent post hinting at hosting the eagerly anticipated reality show Bigg Boss in his signature ‘Jhakaas’ style.

Anil took to his social media and shared, “Suna hai Bigg Boss OTT 3 ka host bada good looking hai.”

The show’s creators once again stirred speculation by releasing a promo that strongly suggests Anil Kapoor as Salman Khan’s replacement.

Posting on Instagram on Sunday, Jio Cinema shared the images and wrote, “Tell us if you’ve ever seen such a ‘good looking’ silhouette host #BiggBossOTT3 coming this June on JioCinema Premium.”

Fans quickly reacted, guessing Anil Kapoor in the comments section, with many dropping heart emojis and mentioning potential contestants.

The web series, exclusively streaming on JioCinema, is set to launch in June.

The announcement was made through an intriguing minute-long promo released on Wednesday via Jio Cinema’s official Instagram account.

The teaser offered a tantalizing glimpse into the drama-packed world of Bigg Boss OTT, featuring iconic moments from previous seasons. From intense showdowns to unforgettable catchphrases, the promo promised a season that will surpass all expectations.

Accompanied by the promo, Jio Cinema added a caption, “Bhule naa bhulaaye Jane wala season hai bbott2 Raosahab ki wajah se toh ott ki value huii.”

The teaser caption, “Ye season hoga khaas, Ek Dum Jhakaas,” hinted at Anil Kapoor replacing Salman Khan as the host of the show.

The excitement surrounding the new season peaked earlier in April when Endemol Shine India, the production company behind the show, teased fans with a graphic poster featuring host Salman Khan.

Bigg Boss OTT, a spin-off of the immensely popular Bigg Boss franchise, first premiered on Voot with filmmaker Karan Johar as the host. However, Bollywood megastar Salman Khan took over as host for the second season.

Meanwhile, on the acting front, Anil Kapoor is gearing up for the action-packed drama ‘Subedaar’.

Directed by Suresh Triveni, known for directing T-Series’ comedy-drama ‘Tumhari Sulu’ (2017) and ‘Jalsa’, both starring Vidya Balan, the film is produced by Vikram Malhotra, Suresh Triveni, and Anil Kapoor.

“In an adrenaline-fueled action drama, Subedaar Arjun Singh grapples with civilian life, navigating a strained relationship with his daughter, and societal dysfunction. The man who once fought for the nation must now fight enemies within to protect his home and family,” reads the official synopsis of the project.
