Kunal Kamra Roasts Bigg Boss Offer: “Mental Hospital Sounds More Peaceful”

April 9, 2025, 11:42 am

Stand-up comic Kunal Kamra said he was contacted to appear in the next season of the reality television series Bigg Boss, but he immediately declined the invitation with a caustic comment. The program, presented by Bollywood actor Salman Khan, is renowned for its telenovela and frequently rancorous style.

Kamra Posts Screenshot of Casting Message

Taking to Instagram Stories, Kamra posted a screenshot of his chat with a casting director who claimed to be handling casting for the new season. The message read:
“I am handling the casting for this season of Bigg Boss and your name came up as someone they might find interesting. I know it might not have been on your radar, but honestly, it’s such a mad platform to show your real vibe and win over a massive audience. What do you think? Should we talk about it?”

Kamra’s plain-cut reply to the proposal said: “I would much rather check into a mental hospital…” He paired the anecdote with a song in Salman Khan’s film Radhe. It isn’t clear whether Kamra was asked for Bigg Boss OTT or Season 19 of the main series.

Current Row Surrounding Kunal Kamra

The comedian is now involved in a court case after making remarks he made during a stand-up show in Mumbai regarding Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The comments resulted in a police FIR on charges of defamation and public mischief. After this, Kamra alleged that he received close to 500 death threats, which forced him to flee Mumbai and take refuge in Tamil Nadu.

He has also gone to the Madras High Court since then, which extended to him interim protection against arrest by the Mumbai Police.

Controversy with BookMyShow

Earlier this week, Kamra also accused ticketing platform BookMyShow of trying to delist his shows without clarity. He issued a public statement calling on the platform to give him correct updates. BookMyShow responded by releasing a statement where they said that “facts have been misrepresented” in defense of their actions.

In spite of the controversies, Kamra still keeps himself active on social media, employing humor and satire to tackle the problems he encounters.

Informing about the incident, she tweeted,”A person entered into my house. He attacked and broke a car of mine and of my mother’s. Fortunately, I wasn’t at home, or else who knows what would have happened.”

Her tweet was directed towards the Police, as she complained through her tweet. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reacted to her tweet and said that the law and order situation in Delhi is very bad and requested the LG of Delhi to “repair” the situation.

Earlier on October 12, after writing to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur to ask him to fire filmmaker Sajid Khan from Bigg Boss over claims of sexual harassment against him, Maliwal said that she had been receiving rape threats on social media.
She further requested that the Delhi Police detain those who reportedly threatened to rape her.

“I’ve been getting rape threats on Instagram ever since I wrote a letter to the I&B minister requesting that #SajidKhan be removed from Bigg Boss. They obviously want to halt what we are doing. Bigg Boss Co-Contestant Arshi Khan expresses grief over Sonali’s death

August 28, 2022, 4:55 pm

Sonali Phogat, an actress and politician, passed away, leaving Bigg Boss 14 participant Arshi Khan “disappointed and troubled.” In a recent interview, Arshi discussed her relationship with Sonali and said that the late actress had the status of a mother to her. Arshi claimed that Sonali was very “protective” and that she used to check on her while she was on set for a shoot.

“Not just during Bigg Boss but after the show too, we have been there for each other. We had spent a lot of time together. She pampered me like a mother and often said, “Tu umar mein badi hai, harkaton mein nahi’. Whenever I used to go for shoots, she checked on me. She was very protective of me and my well-being,” Arshi said.

Arshi Khan went on to say that she is internally condemning the offender and praying for justice for her deceased Bigg Boss 14 co-contestant. “My inner soul is cursing the culprit. They can’t escape karma, and our law. I feel like I have lost someone close to me. I’m really disappointed and disturbed. Trust me, she was such a beautiful soul that if they had asked her for money, she would have given it to them easily. Then why kill her? I’m sure there is a big picture behind it and I really pray to God she gets justice,” Arshi added.

Sonali Phogat died on August 22 and the cause of her death is still a complete mystery. It was initially assumed that she had suffered a heart attack, but when an autopsy revealed numerous “blunt injuries,” Goa police also filed a murder case.

Earlier, Bigg Boss 14 contestant Rahul Vaidya used Twitter to call for justice for the deceased actress. “Sonali ji was killed and drugged. I hope the offenders face swift punishment. Because what was done to her was INHUMAN! May justice soon triumph! He wrote, “#SonaliPhogat,” he wrote.
