Maharashtra: Congress promises to increase ‘Ladki Bahin Scheme’ amount if voted to power

Maharashtra senior Congress OBC leader and LoP Vijay Wadettiwar on Monday announced ro increase the amount of ‘Ladki Bahin Scheme’ from the current Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 in the state if voted.to power.
He made the remarks after filing his nomination papers from Brahmpuri assembly seat in Maharashtra on Monday. He filed his nomination from Bramhapuri constituency in the presence of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and AICC observer incharge of Vidarbha, Bhupesh Baghel.
In his nomination rally, Wadettiwar while attacking the government on various issues from corruption to inflation, promised that the Congress government if voted to power, will increase the amount for ‘Ladki Behan’ scheme from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500.
He also pointed out the issues of the OBC community, vowing to stand by and protect the interests of the community.
Baghel while addressing the rally congratulated Wadettiwar and the people of Maharashtra for successfully defending the Constitution from BJP’s assault and restricting BJP to below 240, referring to it as a trailer before the film on 20 November. Wadettiwar is a 2 term MLA from Bramhapuri, representing the constituency since 2014. Before that, he represented Chimur constituency for 3 terms. He is one of the senior most leaders of the Congress in Maharashtra and has been appointed LoP twice. He is expected to play a critical role in grand old party’s campaign across the state, especially in Vidarbha.
Polling for 288 member assembly polls is scheduled on November 20 and counting of votes will take place on November 23.
Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Tata-Airbus’ project in Gujarat, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole on Monday criticised the Mahayuti coalition for allowing the project to slip away from the state to Gujarat. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Patole said: “Maharashtra’s reputation as a premier destination for foreign investment has been severely undermined by the corrupt Mahayuti coalition.”

Maharashtra Congress Pledges ‘Ladki Bahin’ Scheme Boost

Maharashtra’s senior Congress OBC leader and Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar announced on Monday that his party would increase the ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme benefit from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 if Congress gains power. “If voted into power, we will increase the amount for the ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500,” he promised after filing his nomination from the Bramhapuri Assembly seat.

During his nomination rally, Wadettiwar criticised the government on issues like corruption and inflation. He also addressed the OBC community‘s concerns, vowing to “stand by and protect the interests of the community.”

In his speech, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and AICC Vidarbha observer Bhupesh Baghel congratulated Wadettiwar, stating, “The people of Maharashtra have defended the Constitution from BJP’s assault,” and referred to the current political environment as a “trailer before the film” on November 20.

Wadettiwar, a two-term MLA from Bramhapuri since 2014 and former three-term Chimur representative, is set to play a critical role in the Congress campaign across Maharashtra, particularly in Vidarbha.

Former Chhattisgarh chief minister and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel claimed on Friday that mid-term Lok Sabha elections will be held within a year.

“Fellow workers, be ready! Mid-term elections can be held within six months to one year. Fadnavis is resigning, Yogi ji’s chair is shaking. Bhajan Lal Sharma is also wavering,” Baghel posted on social platform X.

Commenting on NDA ally Janata Dal (United), the Congress leader said,”The government has not been formed yet but JD(U) spokesperson is talking about cancelling the Agniveer scheme and conducting caste census. They say that there is no need for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). These are all the issues that Rahul Gandhi has raised.”

“Now the government will be formed and the fight will start. Aur ye samaj le ki jab jhagda shuru hoga to ghar ujadne me zyada der nahi lagega. Sarkar banegi aur jhagda shuru honge (You should understand that when the fights begin, the house will be eroded. The government will be formed and squabbles will begin),” Baghel, who lost from Rajnandgaon to BJP’s Santosh Pandey by 44,411 votes, said.

In Chhattisgarh, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) won 10 out of 11 seats while Congress secured one seat, Korba, which was won by Jyotsna Charandas Mahant.

Vishnu Deo Sai’s name was announced as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh on Sunday afternoon after a key meeting of the BJP’s newly-elected 54 MLAs in the state was held in Raipur. He won the Kunkuri Assembly seat with a total of 87,604 votes.
Sai is a prominent figure in the BJP and has held various positions, including being the former state chief and former union minister. Sai hails from the influential Sahu (Teli) community which has a sizable presence in the Durg, Raipur and Bilaspur divisions. He served as State President of the party for Chhattisgarh from 2020 until 2022. He was the Union Minister of State for Mines, Steel in the first PM Modi cabinet.

The accusations directed towards Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel regarding the Mahadev betting app have resulted in the Congress party losing the Chhattisgarh Assembly polls. With star campaigner PM Modi taking aim at Baghel over corruption and job scams, the BJP has crossed the halfway point of 46 seats in the 90-member Chhattisgarh assembly. As of late, the BJP is leading in 54 seats and the Congress in 35, according to EC trends. For the 90-member Chhattisgarh assembly, 46 is the halfway point.

The BJP, all through its high-voltage campaign in the state targeted the Congress government led by CM Baghel on alleged scams, corruption and the ‘hawala money funding’ related to the Mahadev app.

“I have some questions for the Congress leaders who are fond of teaching mathematics…I want to ask some questions about the party. The ‘Mahadev betting app scam’ is worth Rs 508 crore and the investigating agencies have recovered loads of cash in this case. A close aide of the Chhattisgarh CM is also in jail,” PM Modi had said during the election rally in Chhattisgarh’s Mungeli.

“Congress should reveal how much money the CM received in this. How much money have the other leaders of the party received and how much money has reached Delhi?” he added.

PM Modi Questions Congress on Mahadev App Scam; Alleges Rs 508 Crore Corruption

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing an election rally in Chhattisgarh’s Mungeli, raised concerns about the Mahadev app ‘scam,’ valuing it at Rs 508 crore. PM Modi directed questions at the Congress, urging them to disclose how much money Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister received and the amount transferred to the party’s high command. He stated that investigating agencies had recovered significant cash in the case, and a close aide of the Chhattisgarh CM is in jail.

“Congress should reveal how much money the CM received in this. How much money have the other leaders of the party received and how much money has reached Delhi?” PM Modi questioned during the rally. Accusing Congress of looting the state, he predicted that the party would not be in power on Dev Deepawali.

PM Modi criticized Congress for its alleged role in the Mahadev app scam, emphasizing the need for transparency. The Mahadev app, currently under investigation by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), is accused of running an online betting syndicate. The ED claims that, so far, around Rs 508 crore has been paid by the Mahadev app promoters to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Chhattisgarh is one of the states heading to the polls this month, with the first phase concluded on November 7 and the remaining 70 seats set for polling on November 17.

The counting of votes for Chhattisgarh and other states will take place on December 3.

Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel expects high voter turnout in Naxal impacted areas

Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel stated on Tuesday that with the work done in the last five years, Naxalism has greatly decreased as the first round of voting for the 20 seats in the Chattisgarh Assembly is currently underway. Consequently, the Chief Minister anticipates a high voting turnout in areas impacted by naxal.

“Earlier, big incidents used to happen, now small incidents are happening. I think this will also stop in the future. Naxalism has retreated to a great extent with the work we have done in 5 years. As a result, polling booths have been set up inside villages. People will vote in their village itself. There is a possibility of high voting percentage in naxal affected areas” said Bhupesh Baghel.

Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, unveiled the Congress platform for the upcoming Assembly elections on Sunday, pledging that if the party wins back control, the state would conduct a caste-based census.

“We pledge to conduct a caste census in the state if voted back. The census exercise would cover the Scheduled Caste, tribal castes, backward classes, general category and minorities,” Baghel announced after unveiling the party’s manifesto in Raipur on Sunday.
He said a caste-based census would enable people from the backward and underprivileged sections to derive the benefits of welfarist schemes and initiatives.
“A census of this kind will not only bring the backward classes to the forefront of the government’s welfarist priorities but also help us conceive and implement schemes for them. A caste census is the need of the hour,” CM Baghel said.

If elected again, the Congress has pledged in the manifesto to purchase rice at the rate of Rs 3200 per quintal under the “Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana.”

Earlier, on Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the BJP isn’t opposed to a caste-based census and will take a call on the same after discussions within the party.

On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel is a “pre-paid CM” of the Congress and that his talk time is no longer valid. According to the Union Home Minister, Bhupesh Baghel turned Chhattisgarh into the Congress’s cash machine.

“If Baghel becomes the Chief Minister again, then thousands of crores of rupees will be withdrawn by swapping the ‘pre-paid’ cards daily,” Shah said while addressing Vijay Sankalp Maharally in the Pandariya Assembly constituency here.

“Bhupesh Baghel is plundering Chhattisgarh’s populace. The welfare of Chhattisgarh cannot be done by someone who only wants to advance his political career. I refer to him as a “pre-paid CM” of Congress for this reason. By simply switching the prepaid cards every day, thousands of crores of rupees will be taken out—even if Bhupesh Baghel wins the chief ministership once more by accident.

Bhupesh Baghel: Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks on Manipur contradicts stance of Modi government

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh claimed on Wednesday that there is a contradiction between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mohan Bhagwat’s statements, a day after the chief of the Rashtriya Samita Samita asked if radicals from across the border were among those who committed violence in Manipur. While the RSS chief was drawing attention to the involvement of outside forces, Baghel stated that the BJP government maintains that borders are secure under its control.

“On one hand, there is our Vishwaguru who says that Indian borders are safe. On the other hand, our Mohan Bhagwat says that external forces are involved in it. There are contradictions in the words of Modi ji and Bhagwat,” Baghel told reporters.
Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing the annual Dussehra rally in Nagpur on Tuesday, hinted at the role of external elements behind the unrest in Manipur.
“If we look at the current situation of Manipur, this fact becomes obvious. How did this mutual discord and hatred suddenly erupt in Manipur, which had been peaceful for almost a decade? Were there extremists from across the border also among those who committed violence? Why, and by whom, was an attempt made to give a communal tinge to this mutual conflict between the Manipuri Meitei and Kuki communities, who were apprehensive about the future of their existence?” Bhagwat asked.

The head of the RSS questioned why, despite the state government’s desire to uphold the peace that had ruled for the previous nine years, the violence had broken out and persisted.

Gujarat polls: Voter turnout at 19.17 per cent, Ahmedabad lowest with 16.95 pc

As of 11 a.m. on Monday, 19.17% of eligible voters had cast ballots in Gujarat’s ongoing second round of state assembly elections.

Today’s voting started at 8 a.m. Up until 9 a.m., the voting percentage was 4.75 percent. Following Sabarkantha (22.18 percent) and Banaskantha (22.5%), Chhotaudepur has the greatest voter participation to date, according to the most recent information provided by the Election Commission (21.03 percent).

Gandhinagar, where turnout was highest with 7.05% up until 9 a.m., recorded a turnout of 20.39% up until 11 a.m.

In the midst of severe security measures, voting for the 93 Assembly constituencies spread across 14 districts in north and central Gujarat began at 8 a.m. on Monday for the second and final round of the Gujarat Assembly Elections.

In the second round of the Gujarat elections, 833 candidates representing 61 parties are running for office. More than 2.51 crore voters will decide who wins or loses.

Nearly 36,000 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used, and the Election Commission has set up 26,409 polling places. In order to facilitate the polls, about 84,000 polling officers and about 29,000 presiding officers have been stationed in 14 districts.

Of the total 26,409 polling stations in Gujarat, 93 are model polling booths, 93 are eco-friendly booths, another 93 are handled by Divyang, and 14 are controlled by youth, according to Chief Electoral Officer P Bharathi. In the second phase, webcasting will take place in 13,319 polling booths.

“A total of 2,51,58,730 voters will vote, of which, 1,29,26,501 are men, 1,22,31,335 are women, and 894 are from the third gender,” Bharathi said.
The 93 poll-bound seats in the second phase are spread across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravali, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Anand, Kheda, and Chhota Udaipur districts.

PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel, Isudan Gadhvi, Gujarat Congress President Jagdish Thakor, and cricketers Irfan Pathan, Hardik Pandya, and Krunal Pandya are among the notable figures who will vote in Gujarat’s final round.

An overall turnout of 63.14 percent was recorded in Gujarat during the first round of voting on December 1. In 89 constituencies distributed across 19 districts in the Kutch, Saurashtra, and South Gujarat regions, voting got underway at 8 a.m. On December 1, the first round of voting for 89 seats in Kutch, Saurashtra, and South Gujarat came to a close with a 63.31 percent turnout overall.

On December 8, the votes will be tallied.

Chhattisgarh: Deputy speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi passes away

Chhattisgarh Deputy Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi passes away on Sunday. Over his demise, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel condoled three-time Congress MLA and state’s Deputy Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi.

Meanwhile, from Bhanupratappur CM Baghel expressed his grief calling it an “irreparable loss”.

Taking to Twitter CM Baghel said, “The sudden demise of Chhattisgarh Assembly Vice-President, senior tribal leader, Bhanupratappur MLA Manoj Singh Mandavi is very saddening for all of us. I pray to God to provide strength to his family to bear this pain. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.”

“It’s an irreparable loss. He was a big tribal leader who used to raise issues related to tribals in the assembly. He always worked for the Adivasi community’s progress and his constituency’s development. His contribution to the state will always be remembered,” CM Baghel further added.

Moreover, Chhattisgarh Deputy Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi in his political career held multiple positions. Mandavi was also the Deputy Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Assembly as well as the Home Minister of the new state of Chhattisgarh.

Earlier in 1998, 2013, and 2018 Mandavi was elected as the MLA from the undivided Madhya Pradesh and twice from Chhattisgarh.

Mulayam Singh Yadav’s funeral: Chattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel to visit Saifai

SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav’s funeral will take place in Saifai on Tuesday. Many prominent political leaders will attend the funeral including Chattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel.
Bhupesh Bhaghel said that he is attending the funeral on behalf of the All India Congress Party. Baghel said, “Kamal Nath ji and I have been instructed by the All India Congress Party to attend the last journey of Mulayam Singh ji and under that, I will go to Bhopal now and again from Bhopal to Saifai with Kamal Nath Ji.”
Mulayam passed away at 82 at the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Monday at 8.16 am.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Baghel will represent the Congress party at the funeral of Yadav.
As the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, veteran Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge will attend the funeral on Tuesday in Saifai, Mulayam’s hometown in the Etawah region of Uttar Pradesh. Kharge won’t take over as the party’s official leader because he is running for party president.
After the death of the seasoned Samajwadi Party politician and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, tributes began to come in.
Age-related illnesses caused Mulayam Singh to pass away at the age of 82 in Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital. Following a decline in his health, he was brought to the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) last Sunday. Akhilesh and Prateek, his two sons, are still living.
Ram Gopal Yadav, the Samajwadi Party’s national general secretary, stated: “Due to Netaji’s passing, the politics of the nation deteriorated. the manner in which he entered politics and how he elevated the position of the average person. Those who didn’t know how to get to Delhi and Lucknow were also elected as MLAs and MPs.”

Mulayam Singh Yadav continued to be virtually completely associated with state politics. He was well-versed in the politics of the most populous state in India and was affectionately known as “Netaji.”
Mulayam Singh, who was born on November 22, 1939, in the Etawah district village of Saifai, climbed fast through the political ranks to three times serve as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and once as the Minister of Defence in the Union government.
He won seven Lok Sabha elections and ten MLA elections.
When he was elected an MLA in 1967 at the age of 28, his career officially began. On October 4, 1992, he established the Samajwadi Party, which he quickly developed into a local party centred in Uttar Pradesh.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, CM Baghel inaugurate a direct flight from Bilaspur to Indore

Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated a direct flight from Bilaspur to Indore along with Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel on Monday.

The flights will be effective from 3 October 2022, from Bilaspur-Indore-Bilaspur every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Chhattisgarh’s CM Baghel plans to convert 300 cow shelters into industrial parks

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched a new scheme on Sunday to convert Gauthans (cow shelters) into village industrial parks, which will house activities sustaining livelihood generation.

According to officials, around 300 gauthan-cum-industrial parks will be established under the ‘Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Parks’ scheme (MGRIP).

The current fiscal year’s budget includes a total budget of 600 crore.

Under its flagship scheme, Suraji Gaon Yojna, the state government has established Gauthans in over 8,000 villages.

Cow dung is procured in these Gauthans for 2 per kilogramme under the Godhan Nyay Yojna, and the dung is used to prepare vermicompost.

The same Gauthans will now be used to promote poultry farming, fisheries, and food processing.

Chattisgarh CM retaliates to BJP’s T-shirt jibe

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel retaliated against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday for its “T-shirt” jab at Rahul Gandhi, saying that Congress is working to bring the nation together while the opposition party is still clad in T-shirts and khaki shorts.

“That is how it feels. The Centre has only a ‘T-shirt’ against the biggest Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. In the world’s largest democracy, when one party is uniting the country, the dividing party is still hanging in T-shirts and khaki shorts,” Baghel said on Twitter.

The BJP and the Congress got into a verbal battle over Rahul Gandhi’s T-shirt as the Congress’ “Bharat Jodo Yatra” entered its third day.

On social media, the BJP attacked the Congress by stating that Rahul Gandhi, who has been bringing up the topic of inflation on the “Bharat Jodo Yatra,” was seen on Friday wearing a T-shirt worth Rs 41,257.

The opposition party, Congress, responded by accusing the BJP of being afraid of the people’s reaction to the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Congress posted on Twitter and stated, “Hey… are you scared? Seeing the crowd gathered in Bharat Jodo Yatra. Talk about the issue. Speak on unemployment and inflation. If we have to discuss the clothes, then Modi ji’s suit of 10 lakhs and glasses of 1.5 lakhs should be discussed. Do BJP want to discuss this?”

In the meantime, the Congress started its third day of the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” on Friday in Nagercoil, a Tamil Nadu city in the Kanyakumari district, under the leadership of party MP Rahul Gandhi.

From Scott Christian College in Nagercoil to Azhagiyamandapam Junction in Tamil Nadu, the Yatra’s third day of travel began.

A 3,500-km march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir will be undertaken by Rahul Gandhi which will be completed in 150 days and cover as many as 12 states. After reaching Kerala on September 11, the Yatra will traverse through the state for the next 18 days, reaching Karnataka on September 30. It will be in Karnataka for 21 days before moving north.

“BJP comes here to learn our state model”; says CM Bhupesh Baghel

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel lashed out at Bhartiya Janata Party and said to study the development model of the Congress government in Chhattisgarh BJP chief JP Nadda was visiting the state.

“BJP comes here to learn our state model. Our schemes have been adopted by the Center. BJP doesn’t fight alone, uses Central agencies like ED, IT, and CBI,” Baghel said.

Meanwhile, Baghel’s remarks came after BJP chief J P Nadda called the Congress the party of a “brother and sister”.

“They (BJP) spent 1000s of crores and made a secretariat similar to a matchbox whose windows rattle each time a breeze flows,” Bhagel said.

Meanwhile, speaking at a meeting in Raipur Nadda said, “Congress is a party of brother and sister. These days, Chief Minister Bhagel is going to ‘Bharat Jodo’ rallies, but they need to first align their own party. Our fight is against family politics.”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed traditional politics. People like Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel are against development and only want to fill the treasures of Congress. Our tribal brothers were killed here and CM Baghel was with Rahul Gandhi in Kerala,” Nadda added.

Earlier on Friday Nadda arrived in Raipur and was welcomed by BJP leaders and workers.

Moreover, Congress continued its ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, led by party MP Rahul Gandhi in Nagercoil city of Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu. Yatra of the third day began from Scott Christian College in Nagercoil to Azhagiyamandapam Junction in Tamil Nadu.

However, Rahul Gandhi will undertake a 3,500-km march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir which will be completed in 150 days. The ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ will cover as many as 12 states.
