The second phase of the Haryana leg of the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, began on Friday morning from Panipat. On Thursday night, the yatra returned to Haryana from Uttar Pradesh. After a night’s rest, the yatra started at Panipat’s Kurar.

Addressing a public rally, Gandhi said the yatra has completed 112 days that started from Kanyakumari and “we are given such a warm welcome at Panipat”.

“I have a question in my mind… even the country’s population is 140 crore… and only 100 richest people of the country have 50 per cent of the total wealth of the country… Do you see justice in it? This is the reality of Narendra Modi’s India,” Gandhi targeted the Centre.

“If you look at India’s all corporates profit, 90 per cent profit is only with 20 corporates and this country’s half the wealth is only in 100 people’s hands. This is the truth of Narendra Modi’s India,” he added.

Gandhi alleged that this government has created two Indias – in one India where poor and common people live and another India in which 200-300 people who have all the wealth live.

“You people have nothing. You only have this air of Panipat in which you can’t breathe… it’s cancer,” he added.

Gandhi said Panipat was a hub of micro-industries but the demonetisation and GST ruined the small and medium businesses, and this is the story of the entire country.

“GST and the note ban have broken the backbone of the country. Haryana is at the top in unemployment in the country with 38 per cent,” the Congress MP said.

Gandhi also raised the issues related to the Centr’s Agnipath scheme. “The energy of the state is going to waste… What is Agniveer policy? Leaders claimed themselves as the biggest deshbhakt. Farmers and Jawan wake up at 4am and lakhs of youth want to join the Indian Army to protect the Tricolor… but now they are hopeless… The government used to appoint 80,000 youths in the Army every year to protect India’s borders,” he claimed.

“After a gap of four years only 25 per cent will get regular jobs and the rest will be left unemployed,” the former Congress president said.

Gandhi said “they accuse me of speaking against the government when I speak about the issues of servicemen”.

On the Centre’s three farm laws, Gandhi said that the government had also brought “anti-farmer laws” but farmers forced the government and the PM had to admit his fault. “But the PM could not realise his fault and farmers were forced to live on roods for one year…” he added.

Leaders from social sciences and technology fields marched with Gandhi when the yatra resumed, the party said.

“Leaders in social science & tech marched with Rahul Gandhi in the Bharat Jodo Yatra,” the Congress said in a tweet.

“Prof Sheila Sen Jasanoff (Holberg Prize 2022), Prof Jay H Jasanoff, and Dr Mohd Arif (Professor of History, Varanasi) joined the fight against regressive ideology,” it said.

On Friday, it was possible to see regular people joining the march as it travelled through numerous towns. As the yatra sailed through, some people, including women and kids, stood on rooftops and waved.

Gandhi was once more spotted wearing his white t-shirt, which has recently been the topic of the discussion.

Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, the party’s chairman, and other top figures spoke at a public gathering in Panipat in the afternoon.

Rahul Gandhi is seen talking with a karate student in a humorous clip that the Congress shared on Thursday from his Bharat Jodo Yatra. The footage of the interaction shows that punches are the primary focus of the conversation. Aikido black belt Rahul Gandhi oversaw a young Karate practitioner’s delivery and reportedly advised him on technique.

Sharing the video, the Congress wrote on its official Twitter handle: “If the technique is wrong, the country goes on to the path of destruction. And this is the question of the future of the children. Rahul Gandhi showing the right technique to a child…”

On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra paused in Hyderabad. Bollywood actor Pooja Bhatt walked with the Congressman for about 10.5 kilometres.

Rahul Gandhi raised the national flag at Hyderabad’s Charminar on Tuesday. Mother of Dalit student Rohith Vemula, who allegedly committed suicide in 2016 as a result of harassment, Radhika Vemula, participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Rahul Gandhi played cricket with a Class 5 student in Patancheru on Wednesday. The student sent a letter to the leader of Congress, pleading with him to make sure that the fees for private schools are reduced.

Speaking on Tuesday at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in New Delhi, party spokesman Jairam Ramesh said that over the course of the past 48 days of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, representatives from about 50 different organisations have met with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and expressed their concerns with pertinent documents.

“In the last 48 days, Rahul Gandhi has conducted four press briefings. These press conferences will be held in every state as the foot march proceeds. The fifth press conference will be held near Hyderabad on October 31,” Ramesh said.

Concerns raised by different organisations are specifically surrounding farmers’ issues, unemployment, issued related to closed-down small businesses and inflation due to goods and services taxes (GST), he claimed.

He further said Gandhi has attended four large public rallies so far and around 35 small meetings, and pointed out that one-third of the campaign is over and at this pace it will reach Kashmir, the last destination, by February 20 or earlier.

“We are now moving towards difficult states of central and northern India which will be covered in the next 50 days. We don’t have organisational strength there as compared to Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana. Looking at the participation of the public in Andhra Pradesh, where our vote share is a mere 2%, I hope the Bharat Jodo Yatra will instill enthusiasm in these states,” Ramesh said.

On October 27, the foot march will pick up again in Telangana’s Mahbubnagar district. Following Telangana, it will travel through Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh after passing through Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh thus far.

Rahul Gandhi, a Congress leader, claimed on Sunday that the Bharat Jodo Yatra attempts to promote peace and brotherhood while accusing the BJP and RSS of spreading hatred in the nation.

Speaking to a crowd after the yatra entered Telangana from Karnataka on Sunday morning; he stated that the foot march would also bring up the issues of unemployment and rising prices.

He claimed that the BJP-philosophy, RSS’s as well as hatred and violence, are opposed by the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

He claimed that there are currently “two Indias”: one that is owned by a wealthy and privileged few, and the other by thousands of young people, farmers, labourers, and small business owners.

We do not desire two Indias. We want a one, united India where everyone may find justice and work. He remarked that the Brotherhood ought to exist in this nation.

When the yatra entered the state earlier, Telangana Congress leaders gave Gandhi a warm welcome at the Telangana-Karnataka border.

Gandhi was welcomed by Congressman Manickam Tagore, a member of the Lok Sabha who oversees party business in Telangana, A Revanth Reddy, the state Congress president, and other party officials.

As the yatra marched into Telangana’s Narayanpet district, there were a large number of activists waiting at a bridge over the Krishna River at the boundary.

The Wayanad MP casually strolled around Telangana before stopping at Gudebellur in the neighbourhood. He took a helicopter to Hyderabad and would fly to Delhi, according to sources in the Congress.

According to a press statement from the Telangana PCC on Saturday, the yatra would take a three-day respite throughout Diwali from Sunday at noon to October 26.

The yatra will then resume on October 27 in the morning from the Narayanpet district and proceed across Telangana for a distance of 375 kilometres, covering 19 assembly and seven parliamentary seats, before entering Maharashtra on November 7.

Every day, Gandhi would walk 20 to 25 kilometres (km), or “padayatra,” and engage in conversation with onlookers. He will interact with academics, community leaders, legislators, businesspeople, athletes, and actors.

Gandhi will pay a few Telangana temples, mosques, and prayer rooms a visit. The TPCC announced that interfaith prayers will also be said.

On September 7, the Bharat Jodo Yatra kicked off in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. Before starting the Telangana part of the yatra, Gandhi finished the marathon walks in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

In Karnataka, where he is conducting the Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, the party’s mass contact campaign with an eye toward the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi stepped up his criticism of the BJP on Friday. His most recent tweet made reference to both Nirmala Sitharaman, India’s finance minister, and the currency, as well as the party’s frequent “40% commission” jabs at the Basavaraj Bommai administration.

Won’t let eat’ is only (a slogan) for those who are poor, deprived and suffering from hunger. In Karnataka, the BJP government is free to eat ‘40 per cent commission,” Rahul Gandhi wrote in Hindi. He was talking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise to end corruption when he said: “Na khaunga, na khane doonga (I won’t eat, and I won’t let them eat)”.

Following allegations that government employees were asked to pay a 40% commission for their services, the Karnataka administration has come under fire from the Congress.

“Hoping the PM now does not say now – ‘It’s not the corruption that’s rising but fuel is falling short for the double-engine government.” The “double-engine government” refers to the BJP governments in states, and at the Centre, which according to the party’s leaders, has helped in delivering public services effectively.

Rahul Gandhi intended his post to retaliate against Sitharaman, who said last week that “the rupee is not falling, but the dollar is strengthening.” Although there has been a lot of backlash, some have contended that what the FM actually meant was that the Indian rupee has been doing better than the decrease other foreign currencies have experienced.

In Raichur, Karnataka’s Yeragera hamlet, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi resumed the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” on Saturday.

Today at Basaveshwara Circle Ground, the Congress leader is anticipated to address a gathering at approximately 5.30 p.m.

On this day in 1963, then PM, Jawaharlal Nehru dedicated the Bhakra Nangal Dam to the nation. A pioneering development project aimed at boosting India’s industrial prowess, this engineering marvel was one of the ‘temples of modern India’ commissioned by Nehru ji,” Congress tweeted.

The 3570 kilometre long Yatra, which started on September 7 in Kanniyakumari, will march a total of 2355 km more.

The party also said, “On this day in 2008, India launched its first Moon Mission, Chandrayaan-1 under the leadership of then PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, the launch of which marked the first step of a historic milestone in India’s space programme.”

The Bharat Jodo Yatra’s Andhra Pradesh leg came to an end on October 21. Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, thanked the populace on Friday for their resounding support and vowed to keep his promises to the populace and the State.

In a letter to the people of Andhra Pradesh, the Wayanad MP said, “This morning, as the Bharat Jodo Yatra completes its journey through Andhra Pradesh, we thank the people for their overwhelming support and encouragement. It has truly been a memorable experience.”

He claimed that discussions he had with various groups while on the Yatra in Andhra Pradesh had made a number of important issues impacting the populace more apparent.

“The Congress party stands committed to granting special category status to Andhra Pradesh and develop a single capital at Amaravati. We support the continued public sector status of the Visakhapatnam steel plant as an asset of the Indian people. We noted that the state government has systematically undermined the Panchayati Raj system in Andhra Pradesh, and are strongly opposed to this assault on democratic institutions. We will also continue to amplify the voice of farmers, youth, women, workers and many other stakeholders whom we interacted with over the last three days,” the Congress leader said.

The former president of the Congress recalled the promises made to the Andhra Pradeshi people in 2014 and stated that his party is committed to seeing that the promises made are kept.

On Friday, the Bharat Jodo Yatra’s Andhra Pradesh phase came to an end as the march once more entered Karnataka.

On Friday morning, Rahul Gandhi resumed his padayatra at Mantralayam Temple Circle in the Andhra Pradesh district of Kurnool.

At Panchmukhi Arch, Gillesugur, Raichur in Karnataka, he crossed the Andhra border. Rahul Gandhi had previously stated that the Bharat Jodo Yatra received a fantastic level of support in Andhra Pradesh and mentioned that his party’s leaders were also somewhat taken aback by the passion and response.

On October 18, the Yatra arrived in Andhra Pradesh.

Starting on September 7, 2022, the Bharat Jodo Yatra will travel across as many as 12 states.

The Yatra began in Kanyakumari and would finish in Kashmir the following year, travelling a distance of 25 kilometres each day.

A historic occasion for the Congress and the entire nation, the 3500 km yatra. According to a statement from the Congress earlier, it is the longest foot march by a politician in Indian history.

All delegates will cast their ballots at a polling booth that has been established at the camp site in Bellary, according to AICC General Secretary for Communications Jairam Ramesh.

The PCC delegates of Karnataka will cast their vote in Bengaluru on October 17, he said.

He also enlisted the help of seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. Rahul Gandhi is visiting the old Mysuru region on Monday, the fourth day of the Congress campaign in the state, including towns such as Srirangapatna and Pandavapura.

“Shri @RahulGandhi visited Suttur Mutt in Mysore and sought blessings of Seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji. (sic),” a tweet by the party on its official handle read. Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji is Suttur Math’s 24th pontiff. Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during his visit.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi attacked the ruling BJP government in Karnataka on Sunday. This time, he delivered his speech while standing in heavy rain, getting drenched, drawing praise and aw. ‘The BJP government has broken all the records in corruption. They charge 40% for everything and either prime minister or chief minister bother to stop the corruption,” he said,

In his tweets, he also said that “no one can stop Bharat Jodo Yatra, even the rain”. “Uniting India, No one can stop us. From raising the voice of India, No one can stop us. Will go from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, no one can stop the Bharat Jodo Yatra. (sic),” he wrote.

Rahul Gandhi resumed his foot march at Hardinge Circle in Mysuru on Monday. The yatra will pass through the towns of Srirangapatna, Mandya, and Pandavapura. Rahul Gandhi will stop in TS Chatra village later in the day before wrapping up his campaign. The Bharat Jodo Yatra will be suspended for two days on Tuesday and Wednesday to observe Dasara.

The Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra arrived in Karnataka on Friday, hoping to boost the Congress’s chances against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the state’s elections next year.

Gandhi was welcomed in Bandipur by former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. “This yatra will enable every Indian to come together and speak in unison to protect India’s socioeconomic and political fabric,” he tweeted.

According to Siddaramaiah, the march will draw between 40000 and 45000 people.

State Congress chief DK Shivakumar stated that the pledge of unity was being renewed. “If you want to see change, you must come and be the change, to join the change movement.” In 1947, the Congress brought India together in order to achieve independence. “Today, 75 years later, we renew our commitment to unity for change,” he said on Thursday.

Ahead of the state elections, the Congress has targeted the BJP government for corruption and a lack of development.

According to Shivakumar, the yatra will give people hope that they do not have to live with corruption. “We do not have to suffer all-time historic unemployment. You will start believing that our beloved land can create jobs for everyone.”

He said the yatra will be “no picnic,” as they will walk at least 20 kilometres per day regardless of the weather, even as banners welcoming Gandhi were torn down near Gundlupet. Congress workers will be scared, according to Shivakumar.

A vegetable shop owner in Kerala’s Kollam district was allegedly attacked and threatened on Friday by Congress workers demanding 2,000 for the party’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra.’ S Fawaz told that he had given 500, but three party workers thought it was insufficient; Fawaz claimed they vandalised his shop and spoiled his stock.

“A group of Congress workers reached the shop and asked for donations for ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. I gave ₹500 but they demanded ₹2,000. They damaged weighing machines and threw away vegetables. They also used abusive language and attacked the staff,” he said.

Congress leaders have been quick to respond, with K Suresh condemning the workers’ behaviour, calling it ‘inexcusable’. “Such behaviour is inexcusable. Party is crowdfunding small donations voluntarily unlike others who get corporate donations,” he tweeted.

The attack, according to Congress state president K Sudhakaran, was “unacceptable,” and the party workers involved had been suspended.

“Three party workers who were involved in an unacceptable incident in Kollam have been suspended indefinitely. They do not represent our ideology, and such conduct is unacceptable. Unlike others who receive corporate donations, the party is crowdsourcing small donations “He posted on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Fawaz has filed a complaint with the Kunnicode Police Station.

The Congress ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ entered its eighth day on Friday, with party leaders marching from Kollam, led by MP Rahul Gandhi. The 3,500-kilometer yatra began in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, and will end in Kashmir after passing through 12 states in 150 days.

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh hit back at Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday, whose remark that Rahul Gandhi should go to Pakistan in relation to the Bharat Jodo has triggered a verbal exchange between the two parties.

Before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the Congress is attempting to expand its national presence with “Bharat Jodo,” which means “unite India.”

Himanta Sarma said on Wednesday that the party’s mass contact campaign was “the comedy of the century” and that ” the only time India was divided was in 1947 because Congress consented to it.”

The BJP leader tweeted, “Rahul Gandhi ji should go to Pakistan for Bharat Jodo Yatra if they desire unification.”

On Wednesday, Jairam Ramesh called the statement “outrageous” and claimed that Sarma was forced to make similar remarks every day to “show his commitment” because he had previously been a member of the Congress.

On Thursday, when asked for a comment, he once more unleashed a new attack. “I don’t want to squander my time refuting the claims made by the opposition.”

There will always be those who will challenge everything you do in India—professional critics, armchair critics, and others—quotes a top Congress official.

Jairam Ramesh further said that the party is “focused like Arjun was focused on the fish when he went for Draupadi’s swayamvar”. “We have only one single vision right now—to ensure the successful completion of the campaign,” he added.

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajastan, was one of the other Congressmen who attacked Himanta. “They spoke about a country without a Congress, but now that they are upset, they are talking about Pakistan and the Yatra.”

Gehlot was cited as saying, “They should govern and consider unemployment and inflation.”

The 3,700 km foot march by the Congress will travel through 12 states and 2 union territories.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday blamed the Congress for the country’s division in 1947 and termed the Bharat Jodo Yatra by the Congress as a comedy of the century.

The Congress is set to launch the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari at 4 pm on Wednesday. The journey is planned to go through 12 states and is expected to cover 3,750 kms in 150 days.

Himanta Sarma tweeted on Wednesday, “The Bharat Jodo Yatra is a comedy of the century. The Bharat that we live in today is resilient, robust and united. The only time India was divided was in 1947 because Congress agreed for it. Rahul Gandhi ji should go to Pakistan for the Bharat Jodo Yatra if they want unification.”

Reacting to him, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, “I don’t take the Assam CM seriously, because he has to prove his loyalty every day after having been a part of Congress for 20–25 years. He’s a recent migrant to the BJP, so he has to make outrageous statements every day. “

In a counter attack, Sarma said, “First, tell me who Jairam Ramesh is? Is he someone who lives in Assam? Who is he? I have no idea. Who will remember the name of a Congress leader? I was never very close to any man with such a name when I was in Congress. I don’t even know who he is. “

Before the Bharat Jodo Yatra, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi took part in a prayer meeting at the Rajiv Gandhi memorial in Tamil Nadu’s Sriperumbudur on Wednesday morning.

He said in a tweet later, “I lost my father to the politics of hate and division. I will not lose my beloved country to it too.”

He also added, “Love will conquer hate. Hope will defeat fear. Together, we will overcome. “
