</excerpt>

A Bengaluru-based startup UX design intern has made headlines after she recounted her harrowing experience of office harassment at the hands of the firm’s CEO. In a meticulous Reddit post by user @akclone, the young woman went into details of the sexism, public humiliation, and emotional trauma she faced while working in what had started as a dream job.

In her last year of a Master’s degree, the intern moved to Bengaluru for an internship program where she was the solo designer and directly reported to the CEO. But soon, things took a dark turn.

While doing her thesis, the CEO questioned her commitment, suggesting in public if she had come ‘to work or have fun with your boyfriend’. He also accused her of not doing any actual work. Though embarrassed, she asked for another opportunity and was eventually offered a permanent job.

Toxic Culture and Sexist Comments

After transitioning into a permanent role, the environment worsened. When she requested work-from-home days to finish her college project, the CEO denied her request and later berated her in front of the entire office, blaming her for the company’s underperformance.

It was her understanding that the CEO would habitually target women and regularly embarrass them in front of others. In one scary moment, when she stayed away from the team so that she was not exposed to sexist remarks, the CEO came over and asked, “Porn dekh rahi ho kya?” (Are you watching porn?), making her shocked and very uncomfortable.

I stayed in a toxic startup for 1.5 years because I thought I wasn’t capable of better. I was wrong.
byu/akclone inIndianWorkplace

Final Straw Before Resignation

Her breaking point arrived when she asked about appraisals. The CEO allegedly informed her that her position as a designer was no longer needed and that she could stay only if she generated business. He informed her that she was ‘not built to grow’.

She eventually quit. Despite being hurt and emotionally drained, she said that after quitting the company, she felt liberated. The abusive atmosphere, she added, broke her confidence and led her to doubt herself.

Online Support and Reactions

The intern’s tale has also garnered a lot of support and criticism for the CEO’s actions. @Appropriate-ASS-824 posted, “I mean no one deserves such a humiliation whether you are a top performer or the worst performer. Name and shame I would say.”

Another user, @Rx_Kid, posted, “I thought one more EY story Thank God No.”

Others commended her for being brave and speaking up and called on others to do the same. She now encourages other professionals not to sit quietly in abusive workplaces or feel obligated to earn their spurs where they are disrespected.

Her body was found in a forest with throat injuries. Police suspect a relationship dispute; Kevin was arrested in Hubli and questioned.
</excerpt>

A Bengaluru man, 22, has been arrested for reportedly killing his girlfriend in Goa, although he had reportedly taken her there to marry her.

The suspect, Sanjay Kevin M, a North Bengaluru resident, allegedly murdered his partner, Roshni Moses M, 22, after an altercation. Roshni, an employee of a Karnataka school, hailed from the same area as Kevin, who is jobless.

Authorities discovered Roshni’s body about 100 metres off the road inside Mollem Wildlife Sanctuary. Her throat had been slit and she had suffered multiple injuries, suspected to be caused by a sharp weapon.

A local farmer, who had gone to search for bibem (sprouted cashew nuts), came across the body on Monday morning and immediately alerted the police.

South Goa Superintendent of Police Tikam Singh Verma confirmed, “The accused and the victim were in a relationship, and it seems to be some personal relationship issue that triggered this.” Kevin believed that Roshni was being unfaithful to him, police said.

India Today quoted police authorities stating, “They had come to Goa from Bengaluru to marry. But for some reason or other, there was a quarrel between the two, and two days back Sanjay murdered Roshni and dumped the body in the forest.”

Investigation further discovered that the pair had come from Bengaluru to Goa on a Kadamba Transport Corporation bus, with the plan of staying overnight in the coastal state. Nonetheless, due to reasons that are yet to be determined, they disembarked at a secluded area.

An update in the case was provided by a bus ticket discovered among the woman’s items, leading police to Kevin since the ticket was booked under his name.

Kevin was finally tracked and arrested in Hubli, Karnataka, on Tuesday and brought to Goa for interrogation.

The calm exchange ending with a handshake instead of a fight, surprised many online, offering a refreshing glimpse of road civility.
</excerpt>

In a city that is witness to increasingly frequent traffic confrontations and road rage on the streets, a Bengaluru woman’s social media update has been a welcome relief from the usual. Her account of witnessing a peaceful and courteous road accident has been going viral for marking an unusual moment of decency on the streets.

She posted on X (formerly Twitter), detailing what she described as a ‘peaceful accident’.

“A cyclist ran into a car & crashed. The driver pulled the car over and waited for the rider. The rider pushed the bike over and asked the driver if he was injured. The driver asked the rider if he was OK and safe. They shook hands and parted their ways,” she wrote.

Witnessed a peaceful accident:

A biker hit a car & fell, driver parked the car aside & waited for the rider to come, rider put the bike aside & checked with the driver if there was any damage, the driver checked if the rider was ok & safe, both shook hands & went on their way ✌🏻

— Nivivivivivieeeee 💃🏻 (@nivs29_panda) June 12, 2025

Unlike the usual hot exchanges that ensue minor accidents in Indian cities, this one was characterized by restraint and empathy, no shouting, no finger-wagging, just concern for each other and a handshake before going on separate ways.

Netizens in Amusement

The post tugged at the heartstrings of most users online, earning reactions that varied between amazement and surprise. One was amused to say, “They both must be either really very civil or matured, or both must have been in a hurry.”

Another replied in a lighthearted and skeptical vein, saying, “You sure this wasn’t a dream?” Some doubted if a situation like that could happen in India, while others lapped up the feel-good moment. “Thanks for posting some good news,” replied one. Another said, “Where was this? I saw this in Singapore. Don’t think it will happen in India.”

Even though the location of the incident was not disclosed, the tale struck a chord with most who are wary of Bengaluru’s infamous hectic traffic and incessant road rage. For some, it was a welcome reminder that respect and peace can still be found in the midst of urban madness.

As one user aptly said, “Seems both were gentlemen and preferred peace over anger.”

Amidst a city too frequently characterized by blaring horns and exploding tempers, even a brief moment of accord between strangers can renew one’s faith in humankind.

</excerpt>

BJP MP from Bengaluru Central PC Mohan, on Monday, called upon the city’s businesses, including Infosys, to consider work-from-home as heavy rain lashed the city and affected day-to-day life after waterlogging was seen in various localities.

Taking to platform X, BJP MP PC Mohan posted, “All companies in Bengaluru, including Infosys, must declare two days of work from home due to rains.”

Karnataka’s Bengaluru witnessed excessive waterlogging caused by heavy rain. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also raised an eyebrow over the issue.

DK Shivakumar Responds to the Rain Crisis in Bengaluru

“Deeply concerned by the havoc caused by relentless rains in Bengaluru. I’ve continuously been in touch with the concerned officers and closely monitored the situation. As always, I remain committed to Bengaluru – working around the clock to address challenges and ensure relief. I will personally visit the BBMP War Room and flood-affected areas to take stock on the ground. Let us be clear: the issues we face today are not new. They have been ignored for years, across governments and administrations. The only difference now is – we are working to solve them, not with temporary fixes, but with long-term, sustainable solutions. To my fellow Bengalureans – I am one among you. I understand your concerns, I share your frustration, and I assure you of my commitment to resolve them,” he said in a post on X.

Waterlogging Disrupts Daily Life in Bengaluru

Heavy rains paralyzed Bengaluru with its infrastructure trying to cope with the rain on Monday. Pictures of the Silk Board Metro Station depicted huge waterlogging. The Silk Board region, a busy traffic junction, was hit hard, inconveniencing commuters.

Shanti Nagar bus stands and Kanteerava Stadium were also affected. Traffic congestion in Bengaluru worsened because of waterlogging as well as many tree branches breaking and cars developing breakdowns.

Citizens felt frustrated and helpless, demanding urgent civic action to resolve the city’s infrastructure problem.

IMD Forecast and Government Action

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several areas in Karnataka, including Bengaluru. The forecast predicts more rain over the next two days, according to an ANI report.

On Monday, Karnataka’s home minister G Parameshwara mentioned that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), now replaced by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), is actively working to tackle the severe waterlogging in various parts of the city.

He explained that the main issue causing the clogging was the accumulation of leaves, paper, and other waste in specific spots on the road. This build-up is contributing to the waterlogging problem.

“There is a flood (waterlogging). That is why the opposition is criticising. BBMP should take all measures to correct the situation here, and it is being done… I have been observing it for the last two or three days, and leaves and papers are lying on the road. It all gets deposited in one place, BBMP is taking action,” the news agency quoted Parameshwara.

CM Siddaramaiah Visits Rain-Hit Areas; BJP Slams Congress

Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah also took a trip to the rain-hit areas on Monday night and interacted with the rain-affected people, as well as the officials.

BJP attacked the Congress government of Karnataka for the rain situation, accusing it of failing to control the state.

“Bengaluru has been turned into Venice after just one spell of rain. The Congress’s apathy has ruined Silicon City. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar have no vision for this global city other than using it as an ATM to fill their coffers,” said BJP leader Amit Malviya in a post on X.

The image triggered a flood of hilarious jokes, nostalgic comments, and playful comparisons on social media, turning an ordinary market scene into comic gold.
</excerpt>

A typical vegetable stand in Bengaluru’s Kathriguppe market has suddenly gone viral after a photo of a woman’s fierce expression went viral on social media. The 2024 photo, hanging loosely next to a cart full of tomatoes, papayas, and watermelons, captures the woman delivering a fierce, wide-eyed stare with no caption, no name, and no description.

The woman’s piercing stare promptly shocked not only the passersby shoppers but also X (formerly Twitter) users, giving rise to an avalanche of amused reactions.

A photograph of an unknown woman has gone viral after being spotted at a vegetable stall in Bengaluru’s Kathriguppe area in 2024.

Her image, showing a mix of disbelief and anger, was displayed next to a cart of tomatoes, watermelons, and papayas with no explanation.

How the Internet Reacted

One X user joked, “My manager, when I request a hike,” while another cracked, “How does one sleep after this?” The sleep joke resonated with many, with someone else chiming in, “My doctor is going to call you for my lack of sleep in the next few days. Thanks.”

The joke didn’t end there. A user humorously referred to the woman as the “CCTV before CCTV existed,” and another became cheeky, writing, “It’s difficult not to fall in love when someone stares at you like that.”

Market Jokes and Nostalgia

The vegetable cart backdrop elicited additional lighthearted remarks. “Ok, ok, jeez, tomato is not a vegetable,” said one follower on Twitter, connecting the intense stare with food fights. Another looked back at stern teachers and wrote, “I hope you have learnt your lesson now.” Bollywood buffs also weighed in, quoting the popular song ‘Inn aankhon ki masti ke.’ to compare the dramatic tone of the image.

A Photo That Turned into Comic Gold

Adding to the fun, one user suggested the woman’s photo could keep bargaining shoppers in check. Another humorously said they would willingly overpay under her stern gaze: “I’ll buy five dozen for twice the price– please don’t look at me like that.”

In an age where countless images flood the internet daily, it was this simple, stern portrait—hung casually in a Bengaluru market that captured imaginations and laughter across the web.

His post, highlighting the rarity of fair auto fares in the city, garnered widespread praise and nostalgic reactions online.
</excerpt>

In a city where haggling with auto drivers is the norm in one’s daily life, the recent experience of one Bengaluru resident was a pleasant surprise.

Going to Reddit, the man posted a picture of the auto meter that read a fare of Rs. 166 for an 11-kilometre ride. Accompanying the picture, he wrote, “Good auto drivers still exist in Bengaluru!”, which found instant resonance with many in the city.

The post soon attracted attention, and a deluge of responses from other users who were surprised and delighted to see such candour.

Came from palace grounds to my house (11.2 kms) for just 170₹

How did Reddit users react

A user wrote, “Hope you thanked the auto anna. He deserves to be hailed!” The poster responded warmly, “Yes yes, that too in this heat, he didn’t charge extra. Was soo happy.”

The reactions were both of awe and amusement. “What? Seriously? On meter? This is something new and interesting,” a user reacted. Another described the driver as a “Dev manush” (divine person) recounting their own experience: “I was charged Rs. 900 from Silk Board to Bellandur (10 kms). and some free abuses with the bill too.”

The post also evoked some nostalgia in other users. “I used to remember in the ’90s, during schooldays, going for a ride with parents in an auto, a 10-km trip would cost about Rs. 50,” someone else posted. “Bless the auto dude! The only person in Bangalore to use a meter, perhaps?” another person noted, and with a sarcastic comment came “When was it? 2005?

In a city that has long been blamed for the irregular auto fares, this short but heartwarming tale was a reminder that there are still fair rides and truthful drivers around.

He and his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita, were en route to the airport when a biker gang allegedly attacked them.
</excerpt>

Wing Commander Aditya Bose, an Indian Air Force officer, has accused being physically attacked close to DRDO Colony in Bengaluru as he was going to the airport with his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita. In a shocking video now trending on social media, Bose is seen with injuries on his head and face, describing the incident in detail.

Biker Blocks Car, Escalates to Group Assault

As Bose narrates, the accident happened when a biker pulled up behind their car and obstructed them on the road. “A bike came from behind and stopped our car… the guy started abusing me in Kannada. When they saw the DRDO sticker on the car, they said ‘you DRDO people’, and began hurling abuse at my wife,” he says in the video.

As Bose had walked out to reduce tensions, he was reportedly assailed. “The moment I got out, the biker hit me with a key on my forehead, and there was blood. I stood there shouting, Is this how you treat people who serve in the armed forces?” he explained.

Indian Air Force Officer Reports Bleeding Wounds

Bose explained that things grew violent when there were more and more people who added up with the biker. “One man picked up a stone and tried to hit my car. It struck my head. This is what has happened,” he told while touching the blood-scarred injury.

He also stressed the psychological trauma the incident inflicted on him and his wife, who was still on the scene during the attack. The video captures Bose agitated as he asks for an explanation of the treatment given to personnel in uniform.

Police Response Draws Criticism

Bose complained that no assistance came from local authorities when he went to the police station to lodge a complaint. “There was no response,” he said, being disappointed with the delay in action.

Although the motive behind the attack is still unknown, Bengaluru police assured that they have started looking into the incident. NDTV said the authorities have identified Squadron Leader Madhumita and are trying to get the complete details of the incident. No official complaint has been lodged yet.

Officer’s Emotional Plea to Public and Authorities

“This is what Karnataka has become… I couldn’t believe it. God help us. God give me the power not to retaliate,” Bose said at the end of the video, his voice dripping with frustration and disbelief.

Authorities still track down those involved in the alleged assault, and public reaction to the incident mounts on social media.

</excerpt>

Bengaluru, usually among India’s safest metros, was in the news recently after a young woman’s terrible Ola cab ride from the airport was turned into an extremely unnerving experience. Shravika Jain described in a detailed post on X (previously Twitter) how her driver’s indecent behavior had left her extremely insecure during a night ride at 11 PM.

“People said Bangalore is safe? Last night’s cab ride from the airport was one of the most frightening experiences I’ve ever had,” Ms Jain posted. Her message has since gone viral, attracting widespread attention and concern.

People said Bangalore is safe?

I took a cab from airport to home last night around 11pm and it was the most scary experiences I have had.

– the driver kept staring at me creepily
– he asked me if i knew kannada and then started playing some song on yt in the highest possible… https://t.co/mOa47DesTi

— Shravika Jain (@shravi_aj) April 15, 2025

From Stares to Singing: Passenger’s Account of the Ride

As told by Ms Jain, the driver started gazing at her uncomfortably soon after the journey started. When he inquired if she understood Kannada and got a reply, he supposedly started playing loud music on YouTube. The scenario turned more horrifying when he started singing loudly and slapping his thighs suggestively.

Though Ms Jain insisted again and again on the volume being turned down, the driver countered with a disquieting glance and made barely any adjustment in the sound. Things took a turn for the worse when he smoked a cigarette in the car in disregard of her protests.

“I was alone, it was late at night, and I had three male friends tracking my location on a call,” she posted, highlighting the fear felt during the drive.

Unexpected Stop Increases Anxiety

Ms Jain mentioned one very frightening instance when the driver pulled over in the middle of the road, saying he would like to get tea. Refusing her request to be taken home first, the driver got out and went back after close to 10 minutes. She added that he kept looking at her inappropriately for the remainder of the journey.

“I was scared and just prayed I’d reach home safe,” she said. Fortunately, she did get back home without any untoward incident.

Bengaluru Police and Public Respond

Subsequent to the post going viral, the Bengaluru Traffic Police replied, requesting Ms Jain to provide her contact details through a direct message so an investigation could be launched.

The incident has triggered widespread indignation on the internet. A user wrote, “So sorry about it. I believe every company whose workers are working this way should make it mandatory to teach them sex education, what is bad touch, good touch, and how to look for others & punishments if you do something.”

A second individual explained a personal experience by stating, “Bengaluru isn’t as safe as people think it is. I have guys following me and my roommates around 8 pm even though we weren’t wearing anything revealing, and since they were a gang of 5-6 men and all were south indians, we had to keep quiet.”

A third contributor put forward, “Drivers should be video-monitored, with footage available for review when users activate an alarm. One should be relaxing and enjoying the cool night breeze after a long day of travel, not staying on high alert.”

The incident reawakens the Indian urban women’s safety debate and reiterates the need for tight safety controls within ride-hailing services as soon as possible.

</excerpt>

A Bengaluru tech professional posted her honest account of staying in Amsterdam for six months, comparing the differences she noticed between her adopted city and her native place. In an X thread, Pratim Bhosale initially addressed a major migrant issue, which is accommodation.

Sky-High Rent and House-Hunting Woes

“The rent is approximately 2000 euros per month for a one-bedroom apartment in a decent area. Lower would mean no furniture and a newer area. It is extremely hard (Hunger Games level ) to find a rental apartment. Easier to buy. We used @uprent_nl. It was super helpful. There are actual tenant laws which landlords follow. ( Unlike in India ),” she wrote on X.

Grocery Shopping in Amsterdam: A Delight

Ms Bhosale commended Amsterdam’s Jumbo and Albert Heijn stores, which have fresh fruits and vegetables, stating how she does not miss Zepto and Swiggy. “Absolute joy to roam around if you love grocery shopping. Fresh produce. I don’t miss Zepto or Swiggy AT all. Monthly grocery bill for me and my plus is around €500. ( We eat royally. Only good high high-quality whole foods ) Whole food is approximately 3 times more expensive than Bengaluru. Better produce. Here, organic means organic,” she added.

View the Full post here:

It’s officially 6 months since I moved to Amsterdam.

Here’s a non exhaustive list of things that have changed in my quality of life and are different from my life in Bengaluru, India

Might be helpful if you’re planning to move to Amsterdam.

? pic.twitter.com/3vSAjd9VWF

— Pratim? (@BhosalePratim) April 10, 2025

Dining Out: Pricey and Tourist-Driven

She also pointed out Amsterdam’s exorbitant eating prices. While a good meal for two is about 50 euros, sandwiches or takeaways usually fall between 7-15 euros. “Amazing International cuisine except Indian. Basic and touristy menu in Indian restaurants. – Cafes have same rates as BLR ( Paid 13 Euros for two desserts and two teas ) – Desserts are much better anywhere in EU,” she noted.

Ms Bhosale gushed over the public transport in Amsterdam, hailing it as a “blessing” in contrast to her own experience in India. She singled out the clean and on-time buses, trams, and metros, safe bike lanes and scenic ferry travel.

Healthcare Challenges in the Netherlands

But she also spoke about her struggles with the Dutch healthcare system, saying that it’s “broken” and hasn’t lived up to her expectations. She said that she had difficulty in finding a General Practitioner (GP) despite staying in the country for six months. She’s thinking of going back to India for medical treatments because of the inefficiencies of the system. She also mentioned the absence of preventative care and the sluggishness of the healthcare system.

Although there may be fewer jobs available than in Bengaluru and tech pay seldom tops 100k euros, she has discovered that individuals put passion above pay, cherishing the “art” of work. Even though employment laws tend to be employee-friendly, they are not business-friendly. She was attracted to Amsterdam by clean parks and fresh air where being fit is a lifestyle. Despite the setbacks, her joy has significantly increased, implying that Amsterdam’s way of life and surroundings have positively affected her health.

Netizens React to the Honest Review Between Amsterdam and Bengaluru

Her post struck a chord with most, eliciting similar reactions from users. “This is such a balanced take love the honesty,” a user commented.

Another commented, “Thank you for a wonderful thread Pratim. I read the entire thing and it was beautifully broken down and captured the good and not so good parts. Look forward to seeing more from you. Cheers.”

A third said, “Wow. This was quite an interesting read. The healthcare part is a bit scary, but QOL seems comparable to what I experienced in Singapore (except the weekend fun part).”

She later sought ₹45 lakh for divorce. Police have initiated an investigation.
</excerpt>

A shocking case of alleged mental and physical harassment has emerged from Bengaluru, where a software engineer has accused his wife of extreme misconduct, leading to his job loss and severe emotional distress.

In his complaint to the police, the victim, identified as Srikanth, claimed that his wife had been mentally and physically tormenting him since their marriage in August 2022. He alleged that she demanded ₹5000 every time before engaging in physical intimacy. Additionally, he accused her of assaulting his private parts on multiple occasions, causing him significant mental agony.

Workplace Misconduct Led to Job Loss

Srikanth further stated that his wife’s actions extended to his professional life as well. While he was working from home, she allegedly disrupted his meetings by deliberately dancing in front of his boss and colleagues during video calls. These repeated disruptions ultimately resulted in his termination.

Demanded ₹45 Lakh for Divorce

Fed up with the alleged harassment, when Srikanth requested a divorce, his wife reportedly demanded ₹45 lakh in exchange for mutual separation. Moreover, he claimed that she threatened to commit suicide and hold him responsible if he tried to leave her forcibly.

This incident is part of a growing number of cases where husbands report suffering from emotional and physical abuse in their marriages.
Bengaluru experienced heavy rainfall on Saturday, leading to waterlogging and severe traffic congestion in multiple areas. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city recorded 3.6 mm of rainfall between 8:30 am and 8:30 pm, accompanied by thunderstorms.

Traffic Disruptions and Roadblocks

As a result of the downpour, the Bengaluru Traffic Police issued continuous updates, warning commuters about diversions due to flooded roads. Notably, heavy water accumulation at Hunsmaranahalli created massive traffic jams, affecting routes toward the International Airport. Fortunately, authorities acted swiftly and cleared the water, restoring traffic movement.

Fallen Trees and a Tragic Incidaent

Meanwhile, strong winds uprooted trees and broke branches across the city. Unfortunately, a three-year-old girl lost her life when a tree fell on her during the storm. ANI, citing Karnataka’s Civil Defence, reported that around 30 trees had collapsed in different areas.

Flights Diverted Due to Bad Weather

Because of the severe weather conditions, airlines had to divert 19 flights to alternative destinations. Specifically, ten flights were rerouted to Chennai. Among the affected flights, 11 belonged to IndiGo, four to Air India Express, two to Akasa, and two to Air India.

Power Cuts and Hailstorms Add to the Chaos

In addition to the heavy rain, parts of the city faced temporary electricity disruptions. Moreover, hailstorms hit Hosakote in Bengaluru Rural district. A social media user even shared a viral video showing hailstones pelting down in the area.

Weather Forecast and Traffic Alerts

Looking ahead, the IMD has predicted light rain and thundershowers on March 22 and 23. Furthermore, the Bengaluru Traffic Police issued an advisory about ongoing congestion on the Nagawara-Hebbal stretch due to waterlogging.

Additionally, the IMD forecasted light showers for several other districts, including Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Kodagu, Hassan, and Chamarajanagar. Similarly, areas such as Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Vijayapura, and Raichur might also experience isolated rainfall.

According to the customer, while he was at a friend’s flat handing over a package, the delivery agent paused for several seconds before asking, verbatim, “Can I suck your c***?” The man immediately reclaimed his package, stating on Reddit that the remark was proper harassment and should never be taken as a compliment.

</excerpt>

A shocking case of distracted driving has emerged from Bengaluru, where a woman was caught using her laptop while steering her vehicle. The incident came to light after the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Traffic North, Bengaluru, shared a video on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the reckless behavior.

X users reacted strongly to the incident, condemning the woman’s actions and calling for stricter penalties for distracted driving. Many pointed out that similar reckless behavior—such as watching videos or using mobile phones while driving—is increasingly common among auto-rickshaw and cab drivers, posing serious risks to pedestrians and two-wheelers.

Several users also criticized corporate work culture, arguing that excessive work pressure forces employees into unsafe practices. Some even suggested that the woman’s employer should be held accountable.

Amid the backlash, many urged authorities to introduce stricter fines and harsher penalties to curb such dangerous driving habits. Concerns were also raised about the growing trend of cab and auto drivers frequently using mobile phones while driving. Many users called for increased speed regulation and tighter enforcement of traffic rules, particularly for public transportation vehicles.

Authorities have yet to comment on whether stricter measures will be implemented in response to the public outcry. However, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with distracted driving and the urgent need for stronger enforcement.

His unconventional commute went viral, with netizens calling it a peak Bengaluru moment.
</excerpt>

Bengaluru’s infamous traffic and ride-hailing struggles often leave commuters frustrated, but one individual found a unique workaround. Instead of waiting endlessly for an Uber or Ola, social media user Pathik took matters into his own hands—by booking a ride through Porter, an app primarily designed for transporting goods.

In a now-viral post, Pathik shared a photo of himself riding pillion on a Porter two-wheeler, with the delivery partner in front and the app’s branding visible on his helmet. His witty caption read, “Had to porter myself to office today because no Ola, Uber.”

Since being posted on February 6, the tweet has amassed over 32,000 views, with users hailing it as a “peak Bengaluru moment.”

Social Media Reactions

Pathik’s unconventional commute sparked a wave of amusement, with many calling his idea “genius” and “the most Bengaluru thing ever.” Several users admitted they had considered similar hacks but never acted on them. Others suggested alternative strategies, like adjusting work hours to avoid peak traffic congestion.

In another bizarre traffic-related incident, a commuter stuck on a Bengaluru flyover was surprised when Rapido sent him a safety check message. His auto-rickshaw had remained stationary for an extended period due to gridlock, prompting the app’s automated alert system to check on him.

With Bengaluru’s traffic woes showing no signs of improvement, creative solutions like these continue to entertain and resonate with netizens.

</excerpt>

A BMTC bus conductor in Bengaluru has gained local acknowledgment after aiding a passenger in retrieving their stolen phone, captivating many through social media. The passenger mentioned that the conductor startled a thief by shouting at him, which caused the stolen mobile device to drop onto the bus steps.

The passenger shared the incident on Reddit, wherein they recounted their daily commuting habits. On one day, as they entered the bus, they felt someone push them. At that point, the conductor started shouting, making the passenger mistakenly think the yelling was aimed at them. However, they quickly realized the true scenario.

“Now, while coming in through the back door, I felt a guy nudging me from behind, but didn’t feel like arguing. Suddenly, the conductor yelled, ‘Eyyy, en madthidiya? ’ (What are you doing? ) I assumed he was shouting at me, but then I noticed something drop onto the steps – it was my mobile phone WTF! ” the Reddit user noted.

“Confused, I picked it up and entered. Some skinny jerk (in pullingo attire) was behind me, and the conductor kept yelling at him, threatening to call the police. The thief ran away while the conductor shouted, ‘Saar, avnu nim phone na kalltidda’ (Look, he was taking your phone. ) The funniest part was that two bikers overtaking this bus blocked this guy’s escape,” the user added.

The post also included safety advice for safeguarding personal belongings while using public transport. The passenger urged others to identify the courageous conductor—a “bespectacled person with buzz-cut hair and beard”—if they happen to see him.

Social Media Reactions

One commenter offered a suggestion: “Don’t listen to music. One of your senses will be diminished. Also, see everyone as a potential thief in a crowded bus. Watch the hands of those around you. This tactic has worked for me thus far. Hopefully in the future as well. ”

Another user recounted a personal story: “I learned my lesson when a woman snatched my phone from the front pocket of my backpack while getting off. I still recall how she used her dupatta to conceal her hands. It’s always wiser to keep it in the bag (ideally in the second compartment) or to hold it in your hand. ”

A third person commended the conductor’s fearless attitude, saying, “Love the conductor’s unhinged style. ” Meanwhile, another commenter recounted their encounter with the conductor: “OP, I met the hero. Interestingly, he didn’t remember the incident at all. I explained the entire situation (excluding the cursing part haha) and he still didn’t recall. Eventually, he even asked, ‘avrge phone sigta? ’ And I said yes, that’s why I’m here, to thank you on behalf of that individual. Amazing guy to converse with though. ”

To avoid such events, experts advise against showcasing valuable items during commutes, steering clear of placing them in back pockets, and utilizing pickpocket-resistant bags or clothing with hidden compartments for enhanced safety.

She later shared her ordeal online to warn others.
</excerpt>

In yet another alarming taxi scam in Bengaluru, a woman was duped into paying Rs 3,000 for what was supposed to be a Rs 450 ride. Adding to her distress, she was forced to cover toll and fuel costs but still did not reach her intended destination. After finally arriving safely at her PG accommodation, she shared her ordeal online.

A Misleading Offer at the Airport

The woman arrived at Bengaluru airport around 10:30 pm and initially considered taking a bus to her PG. However, while walking to the bus stand, she was approached by a seemingly friendly man who offered to drop her off for just Rs 450. He convinced her by claiming he was in a hurry to drop his friend and head home to KR Puram, which was near her PG. He even showed her his ride history on an app to build trust.

Despite her initial skepticism, she agreed to the ride after persistent requests from the man. Her doubts arose as the bus fare was approximately Rs 350, making the cab fare seem suspiciously low.

Unexpected Expenses and Fearful Moments

After agreeing to the ride, another man arrived with a car, and the first man sat in the front seat. Shortly into the journey, they demanded an additional Rs 200 for toll fees and took an unfamiliar, deserted route that made her uneasy. The men tried to maintain a friendly demeanour, engaging in conversation and playing loud music. They later stopped for cigarettes and tea, making the situation even more uncomfortable for her.

The situation escalated when they forced her to pay Rs 300 for fuel at a petrol pump. She complied, fearing for her safety, and hoped they would take her to her destination without further trouble.

A Terrifying Turn of Events

As the journey continued, the men began smoking inside the car and allegedly consumed drugs. They later stopped at a deserted location where another individual was waiting. Claiming he would take over the ride, the driver presented a bill of Rs 3,000 and demanded an OTP for a supposed “cab app.” When she refused to comply, they started shouting, insisting that the Rs 450 was only the booking fee.

One of the men then grabbed her phone and deleted his contact details, which she had previously saved after sharing her location via WhatsApp. Eventually, another Uber cab arrived, but she was still 15 kilometers away from her PG.

The new driver appeared genuine and safely dropped her at her destination, though she had to pay the fare again as it was not prepaid.

A Narrow Escape and a Lesson Learned

Reflecting on the experience, the woman expressed relief at escaping unharmed but described the incident as terrifying. She emphasized the importance of remaining cautious while opting for transport options at night and advised others to rely on trusted platforms to avoid similar scams.

The accused is 42-year-old and has been arrested by the HAL police in Southeast Bengaluru.

On January 12, at 8.40 p.m., the victim’s mother was informed that she had sustained burn injuries and was being shifted to the Victoria Hospital.

When the family reached the hospital, the victim was unconscious in an ambulance with burns all over her body. Later, she was declared dead by the doctors.

As the victim’s parents were clueless about her death, one of her friends met them on January 13 and revealed to her parents that victim’s uncle had saved her private videos and photos and used them to blackmail and seek sexual favours from her.

Victim’s friend told her parents that she took the extreme step as she was unable to bear the torture.

The victim’s parents claimed that their daughter was not weak and ended her life due to torture by the relative.

A case has been registered under Sections 108, 3 (5) of the BNS Act.

DCP (Whitefield) Shivakumar stated, “In HAL police station limits, a 25-year-old woman has died by suicide by immolating herself. A case has been registered in this regard.
“The accused is a close relative. A room was booked at the Radha Hotel and the accused was forcing the victim to see the photos and videos at the hotel room. The victim reached the hotel with petrol and set herself ablaze,” the officer said.

Kolkata leads India’s traffic congestion. The city’s growing number of private vehicles worsens the situation, with nearly 2,000 new registrations daily.
</excerpt>

The infamous traffic congestion of Bengaluru still finds itself a topic of discussion. It was ranked the world’s third slowest city for traffic flow, according to the 2024 TomTom Traffic Index report, which measures the conditions of major cities around the globe. This means that, besides Barranquilla and Kolkata, it emerged as the slowest city in the traffic flow rankings.

Bengaluru’s Traffic Times

The TomTom report now indicates that on average, traveling 10 kilometers in Bengaluru takes 30 minutes and 10 seconds. This is 50 seconds faster than in 2023. In Barranquilla, the average for the same distance is 36 minutes and 6 seconds, and in Kolkata, the average is 34 minutes and 33 seconds.

Domestic Traffic Ranking

Domestically, Kolkata is the most congested city followed by Bengaluru. In 2023, for the average coverage of 10 kilometers from 29 minutes and 9 seconds in 2022, Bengaluru took almost 28 minutes and 10 seconds. Bengaluru was India’s slowest average speed at 18 km/h in 2022.

Global Traffic Woes

On a global scale, London remains at the top position in terms of the most congested city with an average speed of 14 km/h. Other cities are Dublin (16 km/h), Milan (17 km/h), Lima (17 km/h), and Toronto (18 km/h) with speeds lower than that of Bengaluru, thus giving an emphasis on the problem globally.

Private vehicles have been adding to Bengaluru’s traffic problems, which had surpassed New Delhi in car ownership a few years ago. Currently, the city has about 2.5 million private cars, with almost 2,000 new vehicle registrations every day, which further puts pressure on the already strained infrastructure of the city.

The video, which boasts over 13,000 views, captures something that is really unique and special to the face of the unpredictable and quirky Bengaluru.

The video begins with a moving auto on the busy Bengaluru street. While the camera pans to the back of the vehicle, an interesting sight comes into view: a clutch of colorful baby chicks chirping away, almost as if the auto was their temporary home. The perfect caption accompanying the video is “Never a dull day in Bengaluru.

The heart-warming clip first went viral due to the rush of comments with expressions of delight flooding the comments section. Responses included an enthusiastic “Awwww” and a cascade of hearts and crying emojis as the adorable scene seemed to be deeply resounding with viewers.
Bangalore Legacy of Cuteness End

Bengaluru is not the first city to be charmed by quirky and lovable incidents of the internet. Being a very tech-savvy city and mostly unpredictable at times, Bengaluru continues to surprise and enthral the netizens.

A similar case last year saw a video of ducks crossing a busy road in Biddeford go viral. In this instance, drivers stopped their vehicles to allow a mother duck and her 45 ducklings cross a five-lane road in two organized waves. The adorable sight, captured by local resident Karen Ramunno, turned into one of the cutest traffic jams ever witnessed.

Another viral sensation involved a parade of dogs in line, queuing patiently as they waited by a gate and waited for one’s name to be called before he was allowed access. The queue was led by a dog known as Gawin, who really stunned the view as he held himself calmly and even patiently without complaining when others cut ahead of him. Captioned “Self-control, graduate class,” the video demonstrated the level of discipline found in these dogs, which stole the hearts of all animal enthusiasts around the world.

</excerpt>

A family of four, including a software consultant, his wife, and their two children, were found dead in their rented home in Bengaluru. Police are investigating the incident as a suspected murder-suicide.

The deceased have been identified as Anup Kumar (38), his wife Rakhi (35), their 5-year-old daughter Anupriya, and their 2-year-old son Priyansh. Originally from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, the family had been living in Bengaluru for Anup Kumar’s job as a software consultant in a private company.

On Monday morning, the family’s house help arrived for work but received no response despite repeated attempts to contact the family. Concerned, the house help alerted the neighbors, who then contacted the police. Upon entering the home, officers found the bodies of the couple and their children.

An initial investigation revealed that Anup and Rakhi had poisoned their children before taking their own lives by hanging. According to news agency IANS, the couple may have been emotionally distressed, reportedly due to their elder child’s health condition. Anupriya, who had special needs, was said to have been a source of stress for the parents, according to statements from their house help.

Despite appearing to be a happy family, with plans to visit Pondicherry already in place and packing completed by Sunday, the tragedy unfolded. Police also learned that the family employed three domestic workers, including two cooks and a caregiver for their children, each earning Rs 15,000 per month.

No Immediate Concern, Say Health Authorities

Amid speculations about the spread of HMPV in China, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has assured the public that there is “nothing to be alarmed about.” According to Doordarshan, health authorities have emphasised that there is no immediate threat posed by the virus in India at this time.

A Call for Enhanced Monitoring and Research

Despite the reassurances, Karnataka health officials are calling for increased surveillance and research into the virus. The detection of HMPV in Bengaluru underlines the need to remain vigilant and prepared for potential outbreaks, especially given the virus‘s impact on vulnerable populations.

As the probe goes on, health officials will get a deeper insight into howHMPV spreads and possible effects on public health, more specifically among younger children and immuno-compromised patients.

</excerpt>

A rare glimpse into the past has captured the hearts of music lovers and fans of Kannada icon Dr. Rajkumar. A vintage pamphlet from his 1986 concert at Bengaluru’s Tennis Stadium, Cubbon Park, has resurfaced on social media, igniting a wave of nostalgia and admiration.

The Event and Unbelievable Ticket Prices

The concert, a major cultural event of its time, featured Dr. Rajkumar performing some of his most beloved songs. Ticket prices ranged from ₹30 to ₹200, a stark contrast to today’s event pricing. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) were quick to share their reactions, marveling at the affordability of tickets and reminiscing about the legend’s unmatched legacy.

One user wrote, “I would pay ₹2,000 in a heartbeat for a concert featuring only Annavru’s songs,” highlighting the timeless appeal of the legendary performer. Others reflected on the ticket prices, with one remarking, “Wasn’t ₹200 too much back then? I could have bought a plot of land instead!” Another defended the costs, saying, “Forget the price, see the intention. Personalities of that caliber are rare today.”

HAVE A LOOK AT THE POST:

A Cultural Icon Beyond Cinema

Dr. Rajkumar, affectionately known as “Annavru” in Karnataka, remains a towering figure in Kannada cinema and culture. Born as Singanalluru Puttaswamaiah Muthuraj on April 24, 1929, he starred in over 200 films during a career that spanned five decades. Known for his versatility, he played roles ranging from mythological figures to socially significant characters, earning accolades such as the Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

In addition to his cinematic achievements, Dr. Rajkumar was an accomplished singer whose devotional songs continue to inspire millions. His legacy transcends entertainment, embodying the cultural ethos of Karnataka.

Fans Reflect on Simpler Times

Many fans drew comparisons between the concert’s ticket prices and movie rates of the time. “Even ₹30 feels enormous,” one user noted. “For perspective, Gandhi class for a movie back then was less than ₹1. Around 1990, I paid ₹1.50 for a tent cinema.”

The viral resurgence of the 1986 pamphlet is a testament to Dr. Rajkumar’s enduring legacy. His unmatched talent, humility, and cultural contributions continue to resonate, reminding fans of an era where art and authenticity took center stage.

</excerpt>

A Bengaluru techie became the victim of an online stock trading scam, losing over ₹1.3 crore after being lured into a fraudulent Telegram group that promised high returns.

How the Scam Unfolded

The victim, who had attended online training sessions about stock market investments, was introduced to a Telegram group managed by a fraudster posing as a trading expert named Surendra Kumar Dubey. The group, which appeared authentic with around 60 members, featured fake profiles sharing screenshots of their supposed profits.

Victim’s Investment Journey

Following the group’s advice, the techie opened a Demat account using a link provided by the group. He made an initial investment of ₹10,000, which doubled within a week. Encouraged by the early returns, he increased his investment, eventually accumulating a profit of ₹1.4 crore.

Withdrawal Attempt and Discovery of Fraud

To test the platform’s legitimacy, the victim withdrew ₹85,036 successfully. However, when he tried to withdraw ₹20 lakh, his account was blocked. Shortly after, the fraudsters deleted the Telegram group and vanished.

Investigation and Police Action

A case has been registered under the Information Technology Act and Section 318 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code. The police have initiated an investigation to trace the perpetrators. Authorities are urging people to exercise caution when investing online and to verify the authenticity of platforms before making any financial commitments.

</excerpt>

Zomato has unveiled its year-end report for 2024, offering intriguing insights into India’s food ordering and dining out habits. The data reveals fascinating trends, from biryani’s continued dominance to record-breaking restaurant bills and table reservations.

Biryani: India’s Unmatched Favourite

For the ninth consecutive year, biryani secured its place as the most-ordered dish in India. In 2024 alone, Zomato delivered a staggering 9.13 crore plates of biryani, equating to more than three plates every second. Pizza trailed behind as the second most-ordered item, with over 5.8 crore deliveries.

In the beverage category, tea emerged as the frontrunner, with 77.76 lakh orders, surpassing coffee’s 74.32 lakh orders. Despite coffee’s rising popularity, tea remained India’s top choice for yet another year.

Bengaluru Foodie’s ₹5 Lakh Splurge

One of the standout revelations of the report was a Bengaluru diner’s extravagant spending. This food enthusiast shelled out ₹5,13,733 on a single restaurant bill, making headlines as the highest dining out expense recorded this year.

Dining Out Trends: Delhi Tops Savings

From January 1 to December 6, 2024, Indians reserved over 1.25 crore tables through Zomato, with Father’s Day standing out as one of the busiest occasions, witnessing 84,866 reservations.

Delhi led in dining savings, with Delhiites collectively saving ₹195 crore on their dining bills through Zomato offers. Bengaluru and Mumbai closely followed but couldn’t surpass Delhi’s thrifty dining culture.

Food Trends Highlight Nation’s Love for Flavours

Zomato’s 2024 report not only underscores India’s unwavering love for biryani but also highlights evolving dining habits and spending trends, making it clear that food continues to unite and delight the country.

</excerpt>

A tech professional from Bengaluru has publicly criticized his former employer, an American workforce management company, after being terminated just three months into his role. In a detailed LinkedIn post, the employee shared his experiences of micromanagement, excessive workloads, and a lack of mentorship, which he claims contributed to his struggles at the company.

Struggles with Management and Workload

The techie, who joined the firm in September, expressed enthusiasm and a willingness to learn despite lacking direct experience in Software as a Service (SaaS). He stated that during the interview process, he was assured of a supportive company culture focused on mentorship and growth. However, he alleged that these promises were not fulfilled under the supervision of his manager, Bharat Soni.

In his post, the employee highlighted the absence of constructive guidance on essential tools and processes, such as Salesforce, and claimed he received no training on basic operational procedures. He noted that instead of receiving helpful feedback, his manager fixated on minor issues, such as exceeding break times by a minute.

Concerns Over Workload and Overtime

The tech professional also raised concerns about his workload, stating that he was expected to manage 35 to 40 cases each week, often with additional tasks assigned just before the end of his shift. He described the situation as leading to significant overtime, with little understanding or support from his manager. When he sought assistance in managing his workload, he reported receiving dismissive responses.

After less than four months with the company, the techie was fired, which he attributed to the challenges he faced in the workplace. Despite his eagerness to adapt and grow, he expressed disappointment over the lack of support and effective leadership.

Since sharing his experience on LinkedIn, the post has garnered nearly 2,000 reactions and sparked a broader conversation about workplace culture. Many users expressed sympathy for the employee’s situation, with some calling it a wake-up call for prospective employees considering a position at the company. Comments included critiques of how American companies may adopt less favorable practices after entering the Indian market.

Numerous viewers demanded stringent punishment for both the driver and the bus owner. One commenter remarked, “This occurs because there is no strict enforcement of the law. People believe they can merely bribe the police. ” Another user stated, “That warrants the cancellation of their Driving License. ” A worried individual noted, “Should be penalized heavily. ”

One commenter emphasized the driver’s duty by stating, “Both, the driver and the owner, must be held accountable. A bus driver has a greater responsibility than car drivers due to the number of lives reliant on him. Their license should be revoked immediately. ”

Additionally, another user mentioned Deputy CM D K Shivkumar, commenting, “This constitutes mass murder! The license should be revoked, the bus confiscated, and the driver apprehended! @DKShivakumar must take the most stringent action to avert another disaster! ”

This is not the first occurrence. Another incident involved a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus that was found driving the wrong way on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, thus endangering the lives of passengers and other motorists. A school bus driver was also penalized for incorrect maneuvering on the same expressway, illustrating the alarming trend of traffic rule violations in the region.
