Bride Cancels Wedding After Drunk Groom Garlands Her Best Friend

A wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly took a shocking turn when the groom, Ravindra Kumar, arrived drunk and mistakenly garlanded the bride’s best friend. As a result, the 21-year-old bride, Radha Devi, slapped him and immediately called off the wedding. The incident happened on Saturday.

Family Demands Extra Dowry

Earlier in the evening, Kumar’s wedding procession arrived late. Meanwhile, his family allegedly demanded more dowry. According to the bride’s father, he had already given ₹2.5 lakh before the wedding and another ₹2 lakh on the wedding day. However, the groom’s family insisted on receiving more, creating tension.

Drunken Groom Makes a Blunder

Before the garland exchange ceremony, Kumar and his friends consumed alcohol. Reports suggest he wanted to marry someone else and behaved inappropriately with the bride’s family. As the ceremony began, he mistakenly placed the garland on the bride’s best friend instead of the bride. At that moment, Devi lost her patience, slapped him, and refused to proceed with the marriage.

Wedding Turns Chaotic

Following the bride’s decision, a heated argument broke out between both families. Soon, the situation escalated into a physical fight, with guests throwing chairs at each other. Eventually, the police intervened and controlled the situation. As a result, the wedding procession was sent back.

Police Take Legal Action

After investigating, the police discovered that Kumar’s friends had purchased illicit liquor for him. Consequently, they arrested one person and detained the groom along with his friends. Additionally, they registered cases against them for insulting the bride’s family, disrupting public peace, and demanding dowry.

UP: Explosion at Bareilly Firecracker Factory; 3 Dead, 5 Injured

A devastating explosion at a firecracker factory in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday evening, claimed the lives of three people and left five others injured. The blast, which also caused the collapse of four nearby houses, occurred in the factory owned by Nasir Shah, according to local officials.

Casualties and Damage

Bareilly Superintendent of Police Aqmal Khan confirmed that the explosion destroyed adjacent homes, with three individuals pronounced dead and five, including a woman, sustaining injuries. The injured were transported to a nearby hospital, where two people were declared dead on arrival. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed, according to Bareilly Chief Medical Officer Vishram Singh.

Factory Details and Official Response

The firecracker factory operated under a licence registered to Nasir Shah, and the explosion occurred at his in-law’s residence. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and urged for swift medical treatment for the injured. He has also directed local authorities to expedite relief efforts at the site of the incident.

Man Arrested In Bareilly For Allegedly Murdering Multiple Middle-Aged Women

A man from Bakarganj in Bareilly has been arrested for allegedly killing several middle-aged women in Uttar Pradesh. The accused, identified as Kuldeep, who targeted women aged 45 to 65 years, is now in custody. According to the police, he had been carrying out these murders in isolated areas of Bareilly’s Shahi and Sheeshgarh since July 1, 2023.

The police disclosed that Kuldeep’s method involved strangling the women with the drape of their sarees or dupattas. They noted that in each of the murder cases attributed to him, the victims were discovered with a saree or dupatta tied around their necks.

Furthermore, Kuldeep was found in possession of clothes, jewellery, and Aadhaar cards belonging to four women who were murdered in the Sheeshgarh and Shahi areas last year.

To locate the suspect, the Bareilly police initiated an operation involving 22 teams working in the rural regions of Shahi and Sheeshgarh. They also reviewed footage from approximately 1,500 CCTV cameras to track Kuldeep’s movements.

Police teams were assigned to conduct continuous patrols within a 25-kilometer radius. Based on the information gathered during the investigation, a sketch of the suspect was created and made public.

According to the police report, Kuldeep’s frustration stemmed from ongoing disputes and conflicts within his family. The situation deteriorated further when his father, Baburam, married another woman while his mother was still alive. Baburam reportedly abused Kuldeep’s mother at the instigation of his second wife.

Kuldeep’s marriage had fallen apart because of his behaviour, leading his wife to leave him. Kuldeep resorted to drinking and eventually began targeting women in the nearby forests. Over the course of more than a year, he killed at least nine women. After conducting continuous search operations and interrogating witnesses for approximately five months, the Bareilly police apprehended Kuldeep.

Bareilly Serial Killer Arrested, Confessed To 6 Murders

In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, police have arrested Kuldeep Kumar, a suspected serial killer linked to a series of murders targeting middle-aged women over the past year. The accused has confessed to killing six women, according to the police.

The murders of six middle-aged women found in isolated forest locations, particularly in the Shahi and Sheeshgarh areas, were reported over the past year. Murder cases related to these incidents were filed at the Shahi and Sheeshgarh police stations.

Initially, police indicated that nine women had been killed in the Shahi-Sheeshgarh area since the previous year, and suspected that a single individual was responsible for the strangulations of these victims.

Senior SP Anurag Arya reported that Kumar’s arrest was the result of a thorough investigation that included reviewing CCTV footage, using decoys, and analyzing mobile data. The investigation focused on the strangulation deaths of six women, which occurred in isolated areas, primarily around Shahi and Sheeshgarh, and were registered at local police stations.

The most recent victim, Anita Devi from Haujpur village, was discovered with strangulation marks on July 2. The first known victim, Kusma from Khajuria village, was murdered nearly a year ago in July.

Kumar, approximately 35 years old, was apprehended near the Mathiya banks on Thursday. His identification and arrest were facilitated by a tip-off and the use of previously prepared sketches and videos, the SSP added.

Serial Killer On The Loose: 9 Women Killed In 14 Months In Same Manner

In a rural area of Bareilly district, fear has intensified as nine women have been murdered in a disturbingly similar manner over the past 14 months. The crimes, occurring within a 25km radius across villages covered by two police stations, reveal a chilling pattern. All victims, aged between 45 and 55, were strangled in fields around noon, found with disheveled clothing but no signs of sexual assault.

Police Investigation and Suspected Serial Killer

Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar told TOI, “Our teams have been investigating this case for six months and have not ruled out the possibility of a serial killer due to the nearly identical modus operandi of the murders. Based on some leads, we have now released sketches of three suspects.”

Bareilly SSP Anurag Arya added, “The pattern is clear—strangulation around noon, bodies dumped in farms, and post-mortem ruling out sexual assault. Our investigations, including electronic surveillance, have hit a dead end.”

Arrests and Ongoing Confusion

Authorities suspect that three men previously arrested might not be the true culprits, as the murders continued even while they were in custody. Senior officials are now examining details of prisoners who were recently bailed or released. With conventional methods failing, police have resorted to traditional investigative techniques, releasing sketches of suspects after interviewing farmers in about 90 villages.

Timeline of the Murders

The first murder occurred in June last year, with the most recent victim found on July 3 in the Shahi Sheeshgarh area. By November, the death toll had risen to eight, causing widespread panic. Interestingly, investigators believe the three arrested suspects might not be the real offenders, as the killings continued while they were imprisoned. As the investigation continues, the threat of a serial killer looms over rural Bareilly. Dharampura gram pradhan Sharif Khan noted, “Despite CCTV cameras and constant vigilance, the killer remains at large. We have advised our women to move around in groups for their own safety.”

Residents are gripped by fear and uncertainty, with community member Suraj Gangwar expressing frustration: “It’s been over a year, and all the police have done is release sketches. This suspense is terrifying.”

85-Year-Old Woman Dies After Alleged Rape In Bareilly

In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, an 85-year-old woman has died following an alleged rape in her home. The incident occurred in Hafizganj, where the accused, 35-year-old Rakesh, a local resident, was arrested by police.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya, the elderly woman lived alone after the deaths of her husband and son. Her brother and sister-in-law, as well as her daughter-in-law, reside nearby.

The daughter-in-law discovered Rakesh assaulting her mother-in-law around 1 pm and raised an alarm. Rakesh fled the scene, but the family immediately contacted the police. Unfortunately, the woman died shortly after the attack.

Police apprehended Rakesh, who is reportedly an alcoholic, and are currently questioning him.

Bareilly: Wife Shot Dead Fighting Off Robbers, Husband In Hospital

A woman was shot and killed as she tried to fight off robbers on her way back home from her maternal place, along with her husband, when they were confronted by four unidentified men.

According to the police, Rajkumar, a resident of Birpur Bakenia in the Shahi police station area, was riding back to his village on a bike from Shishgarh on Tuesday evening, with his wife Hemlata riding pillion.

On the link road from Dunka to Birpur Bakenia, four unidentified persons forced them to pull over and tried to rob them, police said. As the husband raised alarm, the accused brought out guns and started raining blows on him, the sleuths informed, as Hemlata tried to come in the way, unidentified men fired two bullets at her, killing her on the spot.

Speaking to ANI, Bareilly SSP Sushil Ghule said, “The groom was heading home to Bakenia, along with his wife, from his in-law’s place around 8.30 pm. On the way, a gang of four men forced them to pull over and tried robbing them. As the couple tried to fight back, the accused opened fire resulting in the wife’s death.”

“We have sent the wife’s body for post-mortem while her husband is receiving treatment at a hospital. A complaint has been registered against the unidentified accused and further investigation is underway,” the SSP told ANI. In an earlier incident on Saturday, a minor girl was allegedly raped by two youths in the Faridpur police station area of Bareilly.

PM Modi conducts a roadshow in UP’s Bareilly

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a roadshow in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh on Friday. He greeted the crowds lining the streets and displayed the BJP’s ‘lotus’ symbol to garner support for the party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accompanied him during the event. The Bareilly constituency comprises five Assembly segments: Meerganj, Bhojipura, Nawabganj, Bareilly, and Bareillycantt. The voting for the Bareilly Lok Sabha Election 2024 is scheduled for May 7 in Phase 3.

Today, Uttar Pradesh witnessed voting in eight parliamentary constituencies including Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Aligarh, Mathura, and Bulandshahr. The Election Commission of India reported that polling commenced at 7 am on Friday across 88 constituencies spanning 13 States and Union Territories for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

Initially, 89 constituencies were slated for polling today. However, the Election Commission later announced that voting in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul constituency would not proceed during the second phase due to the unfortunate demise of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate. The first phase of the seven-phased Lok Sabha election, recognized as the world’s largest electoral exercise, took place on April 19 across 102 constituencies spanning 21 states and UTs. The Election Commission reported a voter turnout of over 62 per cent. The third phase of the election is scheduled for May 7.

Uttar Pradesh: Eight people burnt alive after car suffers tyre burst, rams dumper head-on on highway

In the Bhojipura police station area of Uttar Pradesh, a dumper and a car collided horribly head-on on Saturday night, leaving eight people dead from burn injuries, according to officials. Witnesses reported that the car had a burst tire, which caused it to collide head-on with an Uttarakhand-based dumper. After the two cars collided and caught fire, there was a loud explosion, according to the sources, who also added that the neighbors hurried out of their houses to call the police.

A police team soon arrived at the spot after receiving word of the accident and fire tenders were brought in to douse the flames.
However, the trapped occupants of the car were burnt alive as the doors were locked from inside.

Authorities stated that the two people inside the dumper had suffered serious injuries. All eight occupants of the car were confirmed dead by the local Special Superintendent of Police (SSP), who stated that the car was traveling from Bareilly to Baheri. The SSP stated that a child was also among the deceased and that the police had taken possession of the bodies and sent them for a post-mortem. More information is anticipated.

Bareilly bans casual attires for Govt. employees

The administration of Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district magistrate’s office has prohibited all employees and officers from wearing casual clothing. In issuing the notice, district magistrate Shivakant Dwivedi warned all government employees that “action will be taken” if they violated the dress code.

As per the reports, “Government employees and officers should wear formal attire to make them look like they are officers. Those who have to wear casuals can wear them outside. Earlier also a written order was issued several times for the dress code. They were asked to wear formal attire and not wear jeans and t-shirts in the office,” said Shivakant Dwivedi.

Shivesh Kumar Gupta, an administrative officer, applauded the order and stated that “employees should wear formal clothes in the office.”

“There is a provision of dress code in advance that the normal dress is worn in the office and this is not a new thing. All the seniors in the office come in formal attire only they never wear jeans. Some of our new colleagues wear jeans and t-shirts sometimes but they have also been instructed and they are also managing this very well,” the district magistrate added.

Several state governments have taken similar actions in the past regarding the dress code. Previously, the Uttarakhand government prohibited employees from wearing T-shirts or jeans to meetings with higher-ranking officials in all government offices.

The Maharashtra government banned employees in the state secretariat and government offices from wearing casuals last year.

Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), mandated that all officers wear formal attire to work in 2021.
