New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch verified that the victims, 16, 13, 11, and 8 years old, suffered serious injuries but are likely to survive. The savage attack was revealed when an 11-year-old girl, injured and frightened, barricaded herself in a room and called 911. She told authorities that her uncle had stabbed her and her siblings, as reported by the Associated Press.

The 911 operator was able to trace the emergency call that was made approximately 10:15 a.m., which directed police to the address on 84th Street in Bensonhurst. The officers, upon arrival, were led into the building by an uninjured young boy. “At that point, the officers heard screams coming from behind the door to their left and immediately began forcing their way into the apartment,” Tisch told a press briefing, according to CBS News.

Within the apartment, police met Long Qian Chen with a large meat cleaver smeared with blood. “Two officers fired their weapons, firing seven total rounds between them and hitting the subject, neutralizing the threat,” Tisch added. Another blood-covered knife was also found at the scene.

The suspect was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Although authorities continue to investigate the motive, CBS News indicated that Chen’s family revealed he has a history of mental illness.

The New York Post released photos of the horrific aftermath, one of which is one of the young girls totally covered in blood. Officials think Chen is either the children’s uncle or perhaps their father.

Driver Kills One Police Officer, Injures Another in New Zealand Attack

Revenge Killing: Man Chased, Stabbed On Busy Road In Asif Nagar

A 27-year-old man, Mohammed Qutubuddin, was brutally murdered by three individuals using knives and a stick in an act of revenge in Asif Nagar. The incident, which occurred near Asif Nagar crossroads, was captured on video and later went viral.

The attack took place around 10.30 pm when Qutubuddin was walking alone. The accused, identified as Tahir, Sheikh Aman, Zaveer, and others, attacked him. Despite trying to flee, Qutubuddin was caught and mercilessly beaten. Despite attempts by a bystander to intervene, the attackers continued their assault until Qutubuddin succumbed to his injuries on the road.

According to the police, Qutubuddin was allegedly responsible for the killing of Tahir’s brother a few months ago. Upon learning that Qutubuddin had been released on bail, the accused planned the attack.

The incident was recorded by a witness on a phone. Following the murder, the accused fled the scene. The Asif Nagar police have registered a case under section 302 (murder) of the IPC, and investigations are ongoing.

“Saurabh Kumar came with his friends to attend a reception function. While returning he was shot by unidentified assailants who were on a motorcycle. Then he was taken to hospital and one other person named Munmun Kumar also sustained injuries. They were taken to Kankarbagh Uma hospital, however, by then Saurabh Kumar died. We are examining the matter,” said SDPO Masaurhi, Kanhaiya Singh.

As per the police information, the 10 slain DRG personnel have been identified as Joga Sodhi, Munna Ram Kadti, Santosh Tamo, Dulgo Mandavi, Lakhmu Markam, Joga Kavasi, Hariram Mandavi, Raju Ram Kartam, Jairam Podiyam, Jagdish Kavasi. In addition, the deceased driver has been identified as Dhaniram Yadav.

The extra forces and ambulance have also reached the spot and carried out an inspection on the spot.

‘Congress Files’: BJP starts video series on corruption under Congress regime

The Bharatiya Janata Party published the first episode of “Congress Files” on Sunday, launching a new round of criticism of the Congress party for alleged corruption during its Rule. The official Twitter handle of BJP tweeted, “The first episode of Congress Files, see how one after the other corruption and scams took place under the Congress rule”.

In the video message titled “Congress means corruption”, the BJP stated, “Congress has looted Rs 48,20,69,00,00,000 from the public in 70 years of its rule. That money could have been utilised for so many useful areas of security and development”.

BJP further attacked Congress terming it’s tenure as ‘Lost Decade’, also said “Using this much amount, 24 INS Vikrant, 300 Rafale jets, and 1000 Mangal Missions could have been made or purchased. But the country had to bear the cost of Congress’ corruption, and it lagged behind in the race of progress,”.

BJP further said in the video, “Keeping the whole 70 years aside, if we only look at the last tenure of 2004-14, it was a ‘Lost Decade’. The government was led by Manmohan Singh, who turned a blind eye to all the corruption that kept on happening under his rule. In those days, papers were filled with the news of corruption, looking at which the heads of every Indian hung in shame. ”
“Coal scam of Rs 1.86 lakh crore, 2G Spectrum scam of Rs 1.76 lakh crore, MNREGA scam of Rs 10 lakh crore, Commonwealth scam of Rs 70,000 crore, a bribe of Rs 362 crores in the helicopter deal with Italy, 12 crores bribe for the Chairman of Railway Board,” it further added.

At the end of the video message, BJP stated, “This is only the jhanki (trailer) of Congress’ corruption, the movie is still not over.”
Earlier Congress had also attacked BJP over the Adani issue, and released multiple sets of questions under the campaign of ‘Hum Adani Ke Hain Kaun’.The party alleged that BJP granted “monopolies” to the Adani group in various projects.

Mallikarjun Kharge condemns BJP for raising Rahul Gandhi’s remark

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday slammed the government for raising the remarks made by Rahul Gandhi recently in London. Those who are crushing democracy are now discussing how to save it, he said.

Kharge went on to say that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been functioning as a ‘director’.

A protest march was taken out by Kharge from the Parliament House complex to Vijay Chowk along with several Opposition party MPs. The issue came into force after the BJP launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on democracy on foreign soil, which defamed India’s democratic setup. The BJP has been demanding an apology from him.

Rahul was recently on a visit to London, where he alleged that the democracy of India is under ‘brutal attack’.

Speaking to media persons at Vijay Chowk, Kharge criticised the BJP, saying that they are trying to crush the democratic setup of India but that they talk to save democracy.

Kharge further added that they are sending ED, CBI to suppress the voice of Opposition parties. The Congress chief alleged with the proverb ‘ulta chor kotwal ko daante’ (pot calling the kettle black),”

Kharge unveiled several examples of PM Modi mocking India several times on his foreign trip and cited examples of his speeches in China, South Korea, Canada, and the UAE.

Kharge further added that all this is being done to divert people’s attention from the Adani-Hindenburg issue. We are demanding the JPC look into the Adani issue, he said.

He also claimed that discrimination has been taking place in the Rajya Sabha. As the Leader of the House, he was given the chance to speak for just 10 minutes.

Earlier, several Opposition party leaders met in the chamber of Kharge to make their strategy for the ongoing Budget Session.

Chennai: Ayanavaram police arrested 3 people in sub-inspector attack case

The main accused behind the attack was identified as Gautam, Ajit and Surya. Gautam was riding the two-wheeler while the two others were sitting behind, police said.

Cricketer Prithvi Shaw attacked for refusing to take selfie, 8 arrested

At least 8 people have been arrested for allegedly attacking Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw after the batter refused to take selfie with the group for second time, police revealed on Thursday.

In a statement, a police official said, “Oshiwara Police has registered a case against 8 persons over an alleged attack on the car of a friend of Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw after Shaw refused to take a selfie for the second time with two people.”

The cricketer was in his car when he was attacked by the accused. Later, he was sent in another car. The accused also chased the vehicle of Shaw’s friend. Out of these arrested, two have been identified as Sapna Gill and Shobhit Thakur.

As per the complainant, Shaw had gone to a five-star in Santacruz for dinner with his friends when some people came over their table and insisted on a selfie. The cricketer obliged two people for selfies but after some time, the same group returned demanding to take selfies again.

However, this time, the cricketer said that he came to eat food with his friends and doesn’t want to be disturbed. But the group kept on bugging, so, Prithvi’s friend called the hotel manager and complained about them. After which, hotel manager asked the accused to leave the hotel.

When Shaw and his friend came out of the hotel, the accused were waiting outside the hotel and attacked them with baseball bats and smashed the front and rear windows of their car. Hence, Shaw was sent to another car.

The accused also chased Shaw’s friend vehicle, however, his friends car was stopped near Jogeshwari’s Lotus petrol pump, where a lady came near the car and start abusing them. The complainant further alleged that she even demanded Rs. 50,000, otherwise she will file a false case.

Jharkhand police attacked for trying to seize illegally-mined sand

Unidentified men attacked an official and a police team when they tried to seize tractors carrying illegally mined sand near a river in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district, police said on Friday.

Additionally, a police officer’s rifle was taken and tossed into the river. Later, the rifle was found.

Russia launches ‘air attack’, alert issued in Kyiv

Russia pounded the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv with drone attacks for the second continuous night, which le to alert in the city as per Al Jazeera’s reports.

The attacks came on Monday’s early morning after a New Year assault by Russia that saw Kyiv and other cities under fire from missiles and Iranian-made drones. The drone attacks destroyed critical infrastructure in Kyiv and the nearby regions, according to the Ukrainian officials.

“It is loud in the region and in the capital: night drone attacks,” said Oleksiy Kuleba, the governor of the Kyiv region.
“Russians launched several waves of (Iranian-made) Shahed drones. Targeting critical infrastructure facilities,” he wrote on the Telegram messaging application.
“Our air defence forces are working on the targets,” he added. “The main thing now is to stay calm and stay in shelters until the alarm is off.”

After a volley of Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv and other locations on New Year’s Eve and early on New Year’s Day, the attacks took place. According to Al Jazeera, at least three people were killed in attacks on Saturday in Kyiv and other towns, and a fourth person was killed in an incident in the southern region of Zaporizhia.

A building in the city’s northeastern Desniansky neighbourhood was damaged by debris from a wrecked drone on Monday, according to Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kiev, who confirmed that at least one person was hurt in the attack. He claimed that the victim was a 19-year-old male on Telegram.

According to the military administration of the city of Kiev, 16 air objects were destroyed over Kyiv by Ukraine’s air defence systems at 3 am local time on Monday (01:00 GMT). According to Al Jazeera, air raid sirens had been sounding for more than three hours at that point.

By the early hours of Monday, according to Ukraine’s regional military command in the east, air defence systems had shot down nine Iranian-made Shahed drones over the areas of Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia.

Meanwhile, in a video address on Sunday night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised his citizens’ “sense of unity, of authenticity, of life itself”. Russia, he said, “will not take away a single year from Ukraine. They will not take away our independence. We will not give them anything.”
“Drones, missiles, everything else will not help them,” he said of the Russians. “Because we stand united. They are united only by fear.”

Three terrorists killed in Jammu encounter

Two to three terrorists attacked the security forces on the Panjtirthi-Sidhra road at 7.30am in Jammu. As a result of the encounter, three terrorists were killed, and more security personnel were quickly dispatched to the area. A grenade explosion was followed by a gunfight.

The truck driver fled the spot, additional director general of police Mukesh Singh said. “We noticed an unusual movement of a truck and followed it. The truck was stopped at Sidhra in Jammu where the driver managed to flee. When the truck was searched terrorists hiding inside, fired on the personnel. Retaliatory firing was done,” Singh said.

Residents who woke up to the sounds of five to six grenade bursts followed by a frenzied exchange of gunfire were the ones to initially describe the incident.

The encounter comes after the police on Monday defused an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing 15 kilograms which was recovered in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district — averting a major terror plan. One coded sheet and one letter pad page of banned terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were also recovered, officials said, adding that a suspect has been detained.

According to the officials, a case has been registered at Basantgarh police station and further investigation is underway.

“IED-like material weighing around 15 kg in a cylindrical shape, 300-400 grams of RDX, seven cartridges of 7.6 mm, five detonators, one coded sheet, one letter pad page of banned terrorist organisation LET in Basantgarh area of District Udhampur, one suspect has also been detained,” the police said in a statement.

One AK-47 rifle, one AK-56 rifle, four AK series magazines, live rounds, RDX powder, nails and ball bearings, 9-volt batteries, detonators, IED mechanism circuit, remote control, loose wire, and iron pipes were found and two active LeT terrorists and two associates, including a woman, were apprehended in a joint operation by Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces in November at Bandipora in Jammu and Kashmir.

Punjab: Police station attacked with RPG, probe ordered

During the intervening overnight of Friday and Saturday, some unidentified miscreants used a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) to attack the Sarhali police station in Punjab’s Tarn Taran.

The police station situated on the Amritsar-Bathinda national highway came under attack at around 1am on Saturday, said police.

According to the sources, a rocket struck the police station’s iron gate and struck a wall inside, lightly damaging it. Fortunately, no one was harmed. A few police officers were on duty at the time.

Top Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurmeet Singh Chauhan and other senior police officers arrived at the scene after the occurrence, along with a forensic squad, and an investigation into the matter has been started. From the police station, the rocket was found.

This is the second time in the past seven months that a rocket attack on a police station has occurred in Punjab. On May 9, an RPG was fired at the intelligence centre of the Punjab police in Mohali.

An infamous Canadian thug named Lakhbir Singh alias Landa, who is still absconding, was allegedly the mastermind of the Mohali RPG attack. Landa comes from the village of Harike in Tarn Taran, 12 kilometres away from Sarhali, and she is currently involved in more than 30 criminal cases.

Harwinder Singh Rinda, a notable mobster and terrorist affiliated with the Khalistani movement, is also a native of Sarhali.

3 minors attack 17-year-old boy with knife, arrested

A 17-year-old boy was allegedly brutally attacked by three school students on December 5 in Delhi’s Bhagirathi area. All the minors accused in the case were arrested, police official said.

The victim and the three minors accused live in the same neighbourhood in the capital’s Bhaghirati district. Three school students attacked a 17-year-old boy several times with a knife, police said.

According to police officials, the case was registered immediately under sections 304 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). All accused have been arrested, and two knives that were used to kill the teenager have also been recovered from the accused.

After following all procedure, accused were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) and sent to protective custody by the JJB. Further investigation is going on, police said.

Because the accused are from a different community, Pinki Bhaiya, the national president of the Hindu organisation Hindu Raksha Dal, is attempting to cast the incident in a divisive light.

Pinki Bhaiya shared a video in which he can be seen with victim on Facebook with the remark, “Listen to this very attentively and comprehend what is happening with Hindus,” written in Hindi. “If you are a Hindu, please spread the word about this link as widely as you can. Otherwise, you or your family may be affected by the upcoming catastrophe. Hindus, if you still don’t wake up, you’ll never wake up”, he added.

UNSC condemns attack on Pakistan embassy in Afghanistan

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) condemned the terrorist attack on the Pakistan embassy in the capital city of Afghanistan.

“The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack on the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul, Afghanistan, on 2 December 2022, where the Head of Mission came under attack and his security guard was critically injured,” the UNSC said in a statement.

They urged all States, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with all relevant authorities.
On Friday, the compound of the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul came under attack, targeting the Head of Mission, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani.

“However, a Pakistani security guard Sepoy Israr Mohammad has been critically injured in the attack while protecting the Head of Mission,” the Pakistan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Attack on Bharat Jodo Yatra in Tripura, 5 injured; case filed

During the Congress’s state-level Bharat Jodo Yatra in Tripura on Friday, an attack left at least five Congress leaders hurt, according to the police.

Stones were thrown at Congress workers as they marched in South Tripura, according to the police, during the attack.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s supporters, according to the Congress, are responsible for the assault.

The Tripura Congress has begun to increase their mass contact through the “Tripura Bachao Yatra” as part of the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra in preparation for the February 2019 Assembly elections.

Following the incident, the Congress and the BJP each filed a separate case, accusing the other of carrying out the attack.

“As per our report, five were injured and a few vehicles were vandalised. No arrest has been made so far. Our investigation is on,” said assistant inspector general of police Jyotisman Daschaudhuri.

According to Congress, 29 of their party activists were also injured in the attack by alleged BJP-backed goons in three locations during the ‘Bharat Jodo Tripura Bachao Yatra’.

“We organised our procession after taking permission from the police but they failed to give us protection. We are continuing our procession even today (on Saturday). So far, our procession is peaceful,” said Congress leader Anish Kumar Saha.

The BJP has not responded to the situation in any way.

In the conflict between the BJP and the Communist Party of India (CPI-M) that took place in the Khowai district three days ago, roughly 18 people from both parties were hurt. A group of BJP activists allegedly attempted to sabotage a CPI rally, which led to the altercation.

SC quashes bail granted to accused who attacked Owaisi in UP’s Hapur

The Supreme Court set aside an Allahabad High Court order granting bail to two men to the accused who fired at the vehicle of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi in February 2022. A bench of Justices MR Shah and MM Sundresh directed the accused to surrender before the jail authority within a week from today and set aside his bail “considering the seriousness of offences”.

The bench said, “While granting bail, the seriousness of the offense is relevant in deciding the bail application.”

Earlier, in February this year, Owaisi had challenged the bail granted to two persons accused of firing at his vehicle in February this year. The apex court had also sought response from the Uttar Pradesh government and the two accused — Sachin Sharma, and Shubham Gurjar — on the limited issue as to whether the matter relating to the bail granted to them be remanded back to the Allahabad High Court for fresh consideration.

It had dismissed Owaisi’s challenge to the bail granted to the third accused Aalim while noting that the role attributed to him and the allegations were dated six months prior to the incident, that he supplied the foreign-made pistol and no role has been attributed to him with respect to any fire shot.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owais’s car was attacked in Hapur while he was returning to Delhi after attending an event in Uttar Pradesh in February, a week before the polls.
