</excerpt>

In the upcoming episode of ‘Bigg Boss 18’, Salman Khan confronts Ashneer Grover over his past remarks. A newly released promo shows the Bollywood superstar welcoming the ‘Shark Tank India’ fame as a guest but not holding back when addressing Grover’s controversial statements.

Salman directly questioned Grover, saying, “Mere baare me kehte huye suna hai that you have signed me. Sab figures bhi aapne galat bataye. Toh phir yeh dogalapan kya hai? (I heard you talked about signing me and mentioned all the wrong figures. So what is this double standard?)” Grover responded politely, “Aapko jo brand ambassador kia, I think that was one of the smartest moves.”

However, Salman wasn’t convinced and continued to challenge Grover, remarking, “Yeh jo attitude ab hai, tab wahan nahi dikha tha (This attitude you are showing now wasn’t apparent back then).” Grover explained that his comments from the podcast had been taken out of context.

Watch the promo:

For those unfamiliar, Ashneer Grover previously shared an incident during a podcast involving Salman Khan. He claimed to have met the actor during a sponsored ad shoot, stating, “Salman Khan se mila hoon. Usko humne sponsor rakha tha, toh uske shoot ke liye mila tha. Shoot se pehle mila tha usko brief karne ke liye ki company kya hai. Toh teen ghante baitha tha uske saath, uske manager ne bol diya ki photo nahi khichwani hai, sir thoda bura maan jaate hain. Maine kaha saale, maine bola, nahi khichwaunga photo, bhaad main ja tu. Matlab aisi kaunsi heropanti ho gayi (I met Salman when I briefed him for a sponsored ad shoot. I sat with him for three hours, and then his manager told me that Salman would not take a photo with me. I said I won’t take a picture, you go to hell).”

The heated exchange in the *Bigg Boss* promo has already sparked curiosity among fans about what will unfold in the full episode.

</excerpt>

The Delhi High Court has ordered the cancellation of the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against former BharatPe Managing Director Ashneer Grover and his wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, following the quashing of an FIR by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police. Justice Sanjeev Narula issued the directive on Monday after being informed that a coordinate bench had quashed the FIR the previous day.

The petition to quash the FIR was filed by Ashneer Grover and others on the basis of a recent settlement agreement with BharatPe, the fintech company that lodged the initial complaint. The court noted, “Although the copy of the order is not available as of now, this fact has not been disputed by the counsel for the parties involved.”

The court further remarked, “Given the quashing of the underlying FIR, the LOC issued by Respondent No. 3, in the view of the Court, cannot remain in force. Accordingly, the petitions are disposed of with a direction for the Respondents to cancel the LOC against the Petitioners in their records.”

Background of the FIR and Allegations

The LOC was issued by the Bureau of Immigration at the request of Delhi Police’s EOW. The FIR, which was registered under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 408 (criminal breach of trust by clerk or servant), 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, banker, merchant, or agent), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code, was filed following a complaint from BharatPe.

The fintech firm had accused Ashneer Grover, Madhuri Jain Grover, and others, including Deepak Jagdishram Gupta, Shwetank Jain, and Suresh Jain, of misappropriating company funds, causing a loss of approximately ₹80 crore. BharatPe alleged financial irregularities and mismanagement of company assets as part of the charges.

Settlement Agreement and Quashing of FIR

The counsel representing the Grovers and other accused informed the court that a settlement agreement had been reached with BharatPe on September 30. Following this agreement, the parties requested the quashing of the FIR, leading to its dismissal by the High Court.

The settlement marks the conclusion of a high-profile legal battle between Ashneer Grover and BharatPe, which had seen both sides level serious accusations against each other over financial misconduct and corporate governance failures.

The quashing of the FIR and subsequent cancellation of the LOC effectively clear the path for Ashneer Grover and his wife to travel freely without restrictions imposed by the ongoing legal proceedings. The development is seen as a significant step towards resolving the long-standing dispute between the former BharatPe executive and the company.

This decision comes after months of legal wrangling, during which the Grovers faced intense scrutiny over their alleged financial activities, impacting their professional standing in the fintech industry. With the case now settled, the focus is expected to shift back to corporate governance reforms at BharatPe and its efforts to move beyond the controversy.

Gupta is currently being held at the EOW Police Station and is expected to be presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) at Saket Court, where the police will likely seek custody for further investigation.

This arrest is part of an ongoing legal dispute between BharatPe and Grover, which began following Grover’s ouster from the company in 2022 over allegations of financial misconduct and misappropriation of company resources.

In a related development, the Delhi High Court has granted permission to Ashneer Grover and his wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, to travel abroad despite a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against them by the EOW. The couple had challenged the LOC and sought permission to travel to the United Kingdom from September 28 to October 7 and to Doha from October 17 to 20, where Grover is scheduled to speak at events.

The EOW is currently investigating a case of alleged fraud involving Rs 81 crore.

</excerpt>

In the wake of Ernst & Young (EY) employee Anna Sebastian Perayil’s tragic death, reportedly due to “overwork,” a past video of BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover discussing toxic work environments has resurfaced on social media. In the clip, Grover recounts how he left EY on his very first day, despite being offered a ₹1 crore salary.

Ashneer Grover explained that he faked chest pain to leave the office, saying, “I walked into the office, looked around, and pretended to have chest pain to get out.” He described the office environment as lifeless, likening the employees to “mare huwe” (dead) and “laash” (corpses).

He then made a controversial statement, asserting that the best offices are often labeled “toxic” because, in his opinion, that’s where work gets done. “If anyone is saying an office has a toxic culture, then that one is the best,” Grover added.

The video was shared by industrialist Harsh Goenka, who criticized Grover for endorsing a “toxic work environment.” On X (formerly Twitter), Goenka expressed his disbelief, stating, “It’s baffling to see anyone advocate for a toxic environment,” using the hashtag #AnnaPerayil.

Anna Sebastian, a 26-year-old chartered accountant who joined EY’s Pune office four months prior, passed away in July after allegedly enduring extreme work pressure. In a letter, Anna’s mother claimed her daughter died due to “overwork” and accused the company of neglecting its employees’ well-being. She also expressed disappointment that no one from EY attended Anna’s funeral and urged the company to reassess its work culture.

EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani responded to the incident, writing on LinkedIn that he is committed to fostering a harmonious workplace. “I will not rest until that objective is accomplished,” Memani wrote, expressing regret that no one from the company attended the funeral, a situation he described as “completely alien to our culture.”

He described the budget as “boring, lifeless, and meaningless.” According to Grover, the budget failed to make an impact and was not worth paying attention to.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Grover expressed his frustration by comparing the budget to watching yet another Ambani wedding. He said, “Instead of presenting this Budget, they could have just said, ‘I’m not feeling up to it right now—let’s see if we can do something next time if needed.’” Grover suggested that watching another Ambani wedding would have been a better way to spend time than listening to the budget announcement.

Grover’s comments highlight his disappointment with the budget’s content and delivery. He felt that the budget lacked substance and failed to address important issues, making it less engaging and meaningful.

Take a look at Ashneer Grover’s post here:

Ashneer Grover, the founder of BharatPe and a prominent figure from Shark Tank India, recently expressed his concerns about the insulated lives of Indian youth. During a podcast titled ‘LEAKED – How to Start a Business in 2024 (What ACTUALLY WORKS)’, Grover contrasted the experiences of young people in India with those in the United States, suggesting that Indian youngsters are disconnected from the realities of their country and its economy.

Ashneer Grover: 20 year olds in India are living in a bubble. pic.twitter.com/Y3BNy2IuYI

— Ishan Sharma (@Ishansharma7390) July 17, 2024

Grover emphasized that many Indian youths live in gated communities and rely on chauffeur-driven cars, which limits their understanding of the world beyond their protected environments. “We think that the youngsters in the US are naive. It’s exactly the opposite. The current generation of youth in India has been living in a bubble,” he remarked. According to Grover, this bubble extends to their educational experiences, where elite schools and exclusive clubs further insulate them from diverse societal interactions.

He pointed out the immense academic pressure placed on students from a young age, noting that preparations for college admissions often begin in Class 9. “From Class 9 kids begin to prepare for colleges. How will they see or experience the world this way?” Grover questioned. He argued that real-world experiences, including professional failures and betrayals, are essential for breaking out of this bubble.

Ashneer Grover suggested that it could take about seven years in the professional world for these young individuals to gain a true understanding of how the country and economy function. He believes that their current upbringing leaves them “very far from how the country runs or the economy runs.”

The podcast clip, shared by YouTuber Ishan Sharma on X, sparked a variety of reactions from listeners. Some agreed with Grover’s perspective, while others offered alternative views. One user noted, “True to some extent. This could be an advantage too. 20-year-olds don’t have the same mental constraints that come with experiencing the real world and that makes them more fearless in making decisions. They can therefore become better at innovation.”

Another user attributed the issue to overprotective parenting, saying, “More like a bubble of over pampering from the parents. Parents have become over-protective.” There were also calls for educational reforms, with one commenter suggesting, “Education needs to include real world examples that are current. Instead of trying to fit too much content into the curriculum, we need to focus on application in the real world.”

However, some users felt that Grover’s observations were too narrow. “His bubble is limited to his own society and where he lives. Kids today are experiencing much more than what he thinks they face. He is talking of kids who have been ‘given’ privilege by their parents who don’t want to parent. The rest of the kids are fine… facing what they are supposed to,” commented a fourth user.

As debates continue, Grover’s remarks have certainly ignited a conversation about the upbringing and preparedness of Indian youth for the real world.

The Delhi High Court has permitted BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover and his wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, to reclaim their security deposits after their return from the United States. Justice Sanjeev Narula issued this order following confirmation from the couple’s lawyer, Giriraj Subramanium, regarding their presence in India. Madhuri Jain, former HR director at the fintech firm, was also present during the court proceedings.

Earlier in May, the court had directed Grover and Jain to deposit a hefty sum of Rs 80 crore as security before their travel to the US. This measure was intended to secure their presence in India amidst ongoing legal proceedings related to allegations of an Rs 81-crore fraud at BharatPe. The couple had to pledge property and surrender their Emirates Cards to prevent any potential travel to the UAE, where they hold “golden visas.” Additionally, they were required to provide detailed information about their travel plans, accommodations, and contact details to the court and investigators.

The court had granted permission for the Grover couple to travel to the US separately for their children’s summer school activities, with strict conditions set by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). Justice Subramonium Prasad had mandated that one of them must remain in India as a form of mortgage while the other traveled abroad.

The EOW had initially objected to their travel, citing concerns that Grover and Jain owned properties abroad and posed a flight risk. They highlighted ongoing investigations into suspicious transactions amounting to crores and expressed dissatisfaction with Jain’s level of cooperation.

Currently, Ashneer Grover has re-entered the fintech sector with the launch of a new app called ZeroPe in April. ZeroPe, a product of his new venture Third Unicorn, offers medical loans up to Rs 5 lakhs in partnership with hospitals. Third Unicorn had previously introduced the fantasy gaming platform CrickPe in 2023. Although ZeroPe is still in its testing phase, it aims to provide innovative financial solutions in the healthcare sector.

Despite these developments, Grover and Jain remain under strict legal scrutiny, with a Look Out Circular (LOC) preventing them from leaving India without court permission. The legal proceedings continue to unfold, marking a pivotal phase in their ongoing legal battles and professional endeavors.

</excerpt>

The Delhi High Court has instructed BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover to provide a security deposit of Rs. 80 crore before they travel to the US. The court specified that this security should be in the form of a property. Additionally, the court directed the couple to submit their Emirates Card with the court to ensure they do not visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as they possess a “golden visa”.

The couple has been permitted to travel to the US separately for their children’s summer school after the court requested the Economic Offences Wing to outline the conditions of their travel. They are required to share details such as their stay, hotel, travel plans, and phone numbers with the court and investigating agencies.

Furthermore, the court has instructed the couple not to create any third-party rights on the BharatPe shares they hold. Ashneer Grover is scheduled to depart for the US on May 26 and return on June 14, while his wife will travel on June 15 and return on July 1.

Previously, the EOW had opposed the travel request of the couple, citing their overseas properties and the risk of them fleeing. The couple is accused of committing a Rs. 81 crore fraud at the fintech firm.
