</excerpt>

As the United States attacked three Iranian nuclear sites overnight under what it labelled ‘Operation Midnight Hammer’, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi inquired of Pakistan if Donald Trump deserved to receive a Nobel Peace Prize for this.

The AIMIM president’s statement comes in the backdrop of the recent US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities as well as Pakistan’s decision to nominate the US President for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

Owaisi Criticizes Pakistan’s Allegiance to Trump

In addition, he criticized Pakistan’s support for Trump and wondered whether they supported him just to witness the strikes against Iran.

Pakistan had nominated Trump for the Nobel Prize, citing his “diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership” during the recent India-Pakistan conflict.

“The US was never an honest broker. Whether it is Iraq, Libya or Palestine. The US is sitting completely silent on the ethnic cleansing taking place in Gaza,” Owaisi told news agency ANI.

He added that Washington’s policy is to only “cover up the crimes of the Israeli government”. Owaisi asked why “no one is talking about a genocide” that is happening in Gaza.

Owaisi Recalls Iraq, Libya Interventions, Blames US Policy

“You went into Iraq, saying they were creating these weapons of mass destruction, and nothing was found over there. You removed Gaddafi in Libya, and nothing happened. Saddam was killed, and Gaddafi was killed. The US policy is only to cover up the crimes of the Israeli government. What is happening in Gaza? A genocide is happening, and no one is talking about it,” the Lok Sabha MP said.

Owaisi also expressed concerns about the possibility of dire consequences for India if there is an all-out war in the Middle East region.

“We should ask Pakistanis if they want Trump to get a Nobel Peace Prize…” Owaisi said, referring to the US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.

He also mocked Pakistan’s top military leadership and asked whether Islamabad’s Army chief, Asim Munir, had lunch with the US President for this (US strikes on Iran)? “They all have been exposed today,” Owaisi added.

Owaisi Slams Netanyahu, Labels Him ‘Butcher of Palestinians’

US President Donald Trump, in the early hours of Sunday, stated that Washington conducted strikes on Iran’s three nuclear sites.

The AIMIM chief further slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him a “butcher of Palestinians”. “A genocide is happening in Gaza, and the US is not worried about it. This man (Netanyahu), he has butchered Palestinians… He is doing ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. History will remember him as the butcher of Palestinians,” he added.

Owaisi also raised concerns over the chances of serious consequences for India if a full-scale war breaks out in the Middle East region.

He cited that over 16 million Indians reside in the Gulf and the Middle East, saying that “if that area erupts in a war, which unfortunately is very likely, then it will have a grave impact on the Indians living there”.

Trump Warns of Greater Force If Iran Retaliates

US President Donald Trump, early on Sunday, announced that Washington carried out strikes on Iran’s three nuclear facilities. Following this, he urged Iran to agree to end the war with Israel.

Later, Trump also warned Iran that any retaliation from Tehran against the US “will be met with force far greater than what was witnessed” on Sunday.

</excerpt>

India parliamentary delegation in Riyadh accused Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir of shaking hands with a US-designated terrorist on Thursday, sparking a major controversy. As part of the all-party Indian team led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda, Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi stated that Asim Munir’s gesture blatantly demonstrates Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism. He insisted that the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) add Pakistan back to its grey list.

Asaduddin Owaisi pointed to photographic evidence showing Asim Munir, recently elevated to the rank of Field Marshal, shaking hands with Mohammad Ehsan, a US-designated terrorist. Asaduddin Owaisi said that Pakistani officials took the image at an event where Asim Munir and Mohammad Ehsan sat beside each other.

He stated, “When this person was made a Field Marshal, Mohammad Ehsan was sitting right beside him. There are photographs of him shaking hands with this Field Marshal.”

Asaduddin Owaisi argued that such associations make it imperative for global watchdogs like FATF to act. “Pakistan must be brought back to the FATF grey list. Only then can we control terror financing by these organisations,” he said.

Operation Lies: Pakistan’s Propaganda

Asaduddin Owaisi also mocked a recent stunt by Asim Munir during a “victory” dinner with PM Shehbaz Sharif. Asim Munir presented Shehbaz Sharif with a photograph, claiming it showcased Pakistani military success against India under Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. However, Asaduddin Owaisi clarified that the image was from a 2019 Chinese military drill.

“Yesterday, the Pakistani Army chief gifted a photo to Shehbaz Sharif… these stupid jokers want to compete with India,” Owaisi said. He added, “It takes brains to copy. They don’t even have that.”

Delegation Unites Against Terror

The Indian delegation’s comments in Riyadh highlighted a rare moment of cross-party consensus on the issue of terrorism. Members urged the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for openly sheltering and supporting designated terrorists.

The controversy has once again raised questions about Pakistan’s commitment to global anti-terror standards. As images and accusations gain traction, global allies and the FATF face mounting pressure to take decisive action.

</excerpt>

Lok Sabha member Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday criticized Turkey’s backing of Pakistan, calling on Ankara to reconsider its approach with the fact that India has a much larger Muslim population than Pakistan.

Historical Ties Between India and Turkey Highlighted by Owaisi

The AIMIM president cautioned Turkey against unfettered support for Pakistan and asked it to realize the long-standing historical bonds India has with the nation before coming to any conclusion.

“Turkey must reconsider its stance of supporting Pakistan, and we must also remind Turkey that there is a bank called Isbank, where earlier depositors included people from India, such as from Hyderabad State and Rampur State. There are many historical connections with India, and you must know that until 1990, the Turkish language was taught in the Ladakh area,” said Owaisi.

Reminder of India’s Large Muslim Population by Owaisi

Asaduddin Owaisi remarked that India has more Muslims than Pakistan and reminded Turkey that northern Turkish pilgrims previously used to travel through Ladakh to arrive in Mumbai for Hajj.

“Until 1920, people from northern Turkey used to come to Ladakh and then travel to Mumbai to perform Hajj. We must continuously remind Turkey that there are 220 million honourable Muslims living in India. This whole bogey of Pakistan being a Muslim country is misleading. There are more Muslims in India than in Pakistan, and Pakistan has nothing to do with Islam at all,” Asaduddin Owaisi added.

Calls for Boycott and Strained Diplomatic Ties

Following the Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack, India has witnessed a growing tide of demands for boycotting Turkey for its support for Pakistan. This has led to scrapped trips, suspended academic relations, and suspension of Celebi Aviation’s license.

The public protest, both offline and online, has also brought into question India’s support to Turkey during the 2023 earthquake, and the reciprocity of the relationship. The Indian central government has thus far not made any official statement regarding the matter.

Indian Universities Sever Academic Ties

A number of Indian universities, such as Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia, and Lovely Professional University (LPU), have moved to suspend or cut academic ties with Turkish and Azerbaijani universities.

LPU, specifically, has made the decision to end all such alliances due to fears over the diplomatic stance of Azerbaijan and Turkey, which have stood with Pakistan during recent geopolitical tensions.

Sharda University, too, discontinued its academic collaborations with Hasan Kalyoncu University and Istanbul Aydin University in Turkey on Saturday. The university stated the move aligns with India’s national interest at a time of deteriorating diplomatic relations and closes student exchange programs, collaborative courses, and joint research.

</excerpt>

In an unusual display of cross-party harmony on national security issues, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has come out openly in support of India’s nighttime military offensive, “Operation Sindoor,” against Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

India’s armed forces destroyed nine terror camps associated with these groups, responding to the April 22 terror attack at Pahalgam. The attack killed 25 tourists and one local guide.

Powerful Message of Owaisi Against Terrorism

Owaisi posted on Twitter in Urdu and Hindi. He supported the surgical strikes and stressed to uproot Pakistan’s deeply embedded terror network. “I welcome the surgical strikes carried out by our defence forces on terror camps in Pakistan. The Pakistani deep state must be taught a tough lesson so that another Pahalgam never happens again. Pakistan’s terror infrastructure must be completely destroyed. Jai Hind,” he tweeted.

#OperationSindoor

— Asaduddin Owaisi (@asadowaisi) May 7, 2025

By praising the Indian military, Owaisi emphasized national security above politics. His message follows closely on the heels of the Indian government stating that the strikes were “focused, measured and non-escalatory,” and that no Pakistani military facilities were attacked.

A Consistent Stand Against Extremism

After the Pahalgam attack, where terrorists allegedly separated men from women and children and then killed them on religious grounds, Owaisi criticized the brutality. “The way people were killed by separating kids and women, and asking males about their religion, was disheartening and inhumane. Those who couldn’t recite the Kalma were fired upon. This is barbaric,” he had said, terming the incident a massacre carried out by Pakistani-supported terrorists.

He went on to vituperate against Pakistan’s leadership, calling them a “failed nation.” He mock Pakistani generals for their ignorance of authentic Islamic values. As more and more reports have emerged of Pakistan evacuating its launchpads in PoK, Owaisi had asked Indian forces to attack fiercely, “If they are taking any action this time, toh ghar mein ghus ke baith jana, khatam (enter the house and stay, that’s it).”

As tensions soar between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, Owaisi’s unequivocal support for the Indian military’s actions signals a growing consensus on stamping out terrorism at its source.

</excerpt>

AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has vehemently denounced the recent controversial statements made by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), which were considered provocative and inflammatory. Bilawal Bhutto, at a rally on Friday, reacted to India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty after the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 25 tourists and a Kashmiri local on April 22. He said, “The Indus is ours and will remain ours – either our water will flow through it, or their blood.”

Asaduddin Owaisi Reacts to Bilawal Bhutto’s “Blood Will Flow” Statement

Asaduddin Owaisi was quick to counterattack, terming Bhutto’s rhetoric irresponsible and childish. Referring to Bhutto’s inciteful remark, Owaisi reminded him of his family members’ tragic demise, advising him to review his losses first before issuing such inflammatory remarks.

Owaisi said, “Forget about such childish talk. He doesn’t know what happened to his grandfather? His mother? His mother was killed by terrorists. So at least, he should not be speaking like this. Do you even know what you are talking about? Unless the US gives you something, you cannot run the country and you are trying to stare us down.”

Owaisi Draws Attention to Terrorism as the Cause of Bhutto’s Demise

The AIMIM chief stressed that Bilawal Bhutto must recall the conditions under which his family members died—his mother, Benazir Bhutto, and his grandfather, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Both were killed in acts of political violence. Owaisi noted that it was terrorism that caused his mother, Benazir Bhutto, to be assassinated in 2007 while attending a rally in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

“He must think who killed his mother. Terrorism killed her. If he doesn’t get that, what will you explain to him? When they shot your mother, it is terrorism. And when they kill our mothers and daughters, it is not?” Owaisi sharply rebuked Bhutto for ignoring the human toll of terrorism.

Asaduddin Owaisi Aims at Pakistani Leaders’ Nuclear Threats

Intensifying his criticism further, Asaduddin Owaisi also attacked Pakistani leaders, who have threatened India with nuclear war. He reminded them that any act of aggression against India, especially against innocent civilians, would not be tolerated. “Remember, if you enter a country and kill innocents, no country will stay silent, no matter who is in power. The way you attacked our country, the way people were asked their religion and shot, what religion are you talking about? You are worse than Khawarij (an Islamic sect considered deviant). You are ISIS sympathisers,” Owaisi remarked.

Strong Reactions from Indian Leaders

Bilawal Bhutto’s provocative remarks have evoked a response from every section of Indian politics. The first to shoot back was Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, who demanded that Bilawal Bhutto get his mental health checked due to the ominous nature of his remarks. “ell him to get his mental condition checked, what kind of statements he is giving. Enough is enough… We will no longer tolerate this. Now wait for a few days,” said Puri.

Congress lawmaker Shashi Tharoor also jumped into the issue, describing Bhutto’s comments as “inflammatory.” He added, “The Pakistanis have to understand that they simply cannot kill Indians with impunity. We have no designs on Pakistan, but if they do something, they must be prepared for a response. If blood is going to flow, it will possibly flow more on their side than ours.”

</excerpt>

AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday criticized the construction of a police post near Jama Masjid in Sambhal, accusing the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh of promoting a “communal mindset” by fostering suspicion and increased surveillance in Muslim-majority areas through CCTV cameras and police outposts.

Speaking to ANI, Owaisi questioned the government’s priorities, highlighting the lack of basic amenities such as education and healthcare in the region. He stated, “There are empirical studies which have been done which clearly show that the governments have never ensured that where you have a higher number of Muslims living in that place or locality or area, the government have failed to provide public services. For example, hospitals, schools, colleges.”

Owaisi referred to a recent study conducted by Paul Lovosad of Dartmouth College, MIT, to underline the discrimination faced by Muslim communities, particularly under the BJP government. He noted, “Now, a recent study has been done by Paul Lovosad of Dartmouth College, MIT, which clearly shows the amount of discrimination the governments have shown, especially the BJP government in not providing public services.”

The AIMIM leader also expressed concern over social issues affecting the Muslim community, including high dropout rates among Muslim women, low literacy levels, and the limited number of graduates. He remarked, “If you have the wherewithal to construct a police outpost right opposite the Sambhal historical masjid, why can’t you construct schools, colleges and hospitals in Sambhal? It is a known fact that the dropout rate is the highest among Muslim women. It is a known fact that low literacy rates prevail among the Muslims. It is a known fact that you have the lowest number of graduates in the Muslim community.”

He further criticized the government’s approach, emphasizing the need to address medical issues and improve public services rather than creating an atmosphere of distrust. He added, “There are various medical issues. So why isn’t the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh interested in solving these problems so that they claim that they want a Viksit Bharat, then why don’t you provide all these services, but have a communal mindset and you are strengthening that communal mindset by creating a suspicion that these Muslim areas have to be monitored by CCTV by police outposts…This creation of police check posts is nothing but strengthening suspicion among Muslims, creating a hate atmosphere. That is what the BJP government is doing in Uttar Pradesh which I condemn.”

Meanwhile, construction of the police post is underway on vacant land near Jama Masjid in Sambhal. The Rapid Action Force (RAF) has been deployed at the site to ensure security.

Sambhal Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shrish Chandra commented on the urgency of the project, explaining that it aims to provide better accommodation for the security forces currently stationed outdoors. “The construction of the post is currently in progress. It will be established as soon as possible so that the force staying here can stay comfortably,” ASP Chandra told ANI.

He further noted the challenges faced by the personnel, saying, “The construction of the post is being expedited due to the urgent need for accommodation, as a large number of forces are currently living outdoors in the cold. Since there are no nearby facilities, the work is being completed at a fast pace. The post will be ready in a few days.”

This development follows recent violence in the area during an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey of a Mughal-era mosque last month, which resulted in four deaths and injuries among both police and locals.

</excerpt>

On Monday, Delhi State Haj Committee Chairperson and BJP leader, Kausar Jahan, made a plea to opposition parties not to oppose the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, for mere political reasons. Her appeal followed All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi’s call for a nationwide protest against the bill.

Kausar Jahan specifically urged opposition parties, including Owaisi’s AIMIM, Trinamool Congress, and Samajwadi Party, to refrain from opposing the bill, warning that history may remember them as obstructing efforts aimed at the betterment of Muslims. “Please don’t oppose just for the sake of opposition and political motives,” she said. “It should not be recorded in history that Owaisi sahib’s party, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and other opposition parties opposed steps for the welfare of Muslims.”

She emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in any board’s operations, questioning Owaisi’s faith in the Constitution despite his role as a member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). “Waqf reforms should have been implemented much earlier. There’s significant corruption at present. Any board functions better when there’s transparency and accountability,” she added.

On September 1, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi had criticized the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, during a protest gathering in Telangana, calling for a nationwide protest. “We have gathered here on behalf of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board because of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, brought by the Modi government,” Owaisi said, asserting that the bill contradicts the Constitution.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, seeks to rename the Waqf Act, 1995, as the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Act, 1995. It aims to clearly define “Waqf” as property established by a person practicing Islam for at least five years and owning such property. Additionally, the bill ensures that Waqf-alal-aulad does not result in the denial of inheritance rights to women. It also proposes omitting Section 40, which relates to the Board’s power to determine whether a property is Waqf, mandates filing Waqf accounts via a central portal, reforms the Tribunal structure, and establishes a separate Board of Auqaf for Boharas and Aghakhanis.

The bill, introduced during the Parliament’s budget session, was referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for further scrutiny. On August 30, the JPC, led by MP Jagadambika Pal, held its second meeting in the Parliament House Annexe. The committee invited views from various Muslim organizations, including All India Sunni Jamiyatul Ulama, Indian Muslims for Civil Rights, and the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board.

During the meeting, concerns were raised about various clauses in the bill, with “Waqf by Users” being a particularly contentious issue. Muslim representatives argued that this matter touches on religious faith and practice, urging the government not to interfere.

The JPC has invited feedback and suggestions from the public, NGOs, experts, stakeholders, and institutions, according to a press release by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.

</excerpt>

AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the Modi government on Sunday in response to reports about proposed amendments to the Waqf Board Act. Owaisi claimed that these amendments indicate an attempt by the Centre to undermine the autonomy of the Waqf Board and increase its interference in the board’s affairs.

Speaking at a conference, Owaisi said, “The central government is acting against parliamentary norms and privileges by communicating these plans to the media instead of informing Parliament directly. The media reports suggest that the Modi government aims to diminish the Waqf Board’s autonomy and interfere with its operations, which goes against the principles of religious freedom.”

Owaisi also accused the BJP of consistently opposing Waqf boards and properties as part of a broader “Hindutva agenda.” He warned that amendments to the Waqf Board’s establishment and composition could lead to administrative confusion and a reduction in the board’s autonomy. He expressed concerns that increased government control could affect the board’s independence and cited fears that disputed properties might be surveyed by government entities with potentially biased outcomes.

“Reports indicate that if there are disputed properties, they will be surveyed by the BJP and state governments, leading to questionable results. There are already instances where the BJP-RSS dispute the existence of certain dargahs and mosques. This move appears to be an attempt to shift judicial authority to the executive,” he added.

Earlier reports suggested that the government plans to introduce around 40 amendments to the Waqf Act in the next parliamentary session.

</excerpt>

Yoga guru and entrepreneur Baba Ramdev has expressed his support for the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments’ directive that mandates shopkeepers along the Kanwar Yatra route to display their names. Ramdev highlighted the significance of being proud of one’s identity.

“If I have no issue in revealing my identity, why should anyone else? Everyone should take pride in their name. There’s no need to conceal it; only purity in work is necessary. If our work is pure, our religion or community does not matter,” he stated on Sunday morning.

Following suit, Ujjain’s municipal body also issued a directive requiring shop owners to display their names. Ujjain Mayor Mukesh Tatwal announced that violators would face a ₹2,000 fine for the first offence and ₹5,000 for repeated non-compliance.

“Ujjain is a city of religious significance. Visitors come here with faith. They have the right to know the shopkeeper’s identity whose services they use. If dissatisfied or cheated, knowing the shopkeeper’s details helps them seek redress,” he said.

The directive has sparked controversy. AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi argued that it reflects growing hostility towards Muslims in India. “Fear on UP’s Kanwar routes: This is the reality of hatred for Indian Muslims. Political parties, leaders of Hindutva, and so-called secular parties are responsible for this visceral hatred,” he stated on ‘X’.

CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat criticized the Uttar Pradesh government, asserting, “The Uttar Pradesh government is undermining the Constitution of India with such orders. They are humiliating an entire community and attempting to divide society. This type of targeting was done by Nazis in Germany. I condemn it.”

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut accused the BJP of creating division. “Now you’re directing food stalls to put up nameplates based on caste and religion? Do you want to divide the country? This won’t benefit you. You are disrupting national unity,” he said.

Conversely, West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar accused the Opposition of misleading the public, noting that similar notifications were issued during the Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav governments.

Asaduddin Owaisi, a prominent opposition leader, criticized the directive on social media. “Fear on UP’s Kanwar routes: This is the reality of hatred for Indian Muslims. Credit for this visceral hatred goes to political parties, leaders of Hindutva and so-called lip-servicing secular parties,” he posted on X, accompanied by a photo of an egg stall showcasing the owner’s name.

In response, West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar accused the opposition of misleading the public. He argued that similar directives had been issued by previous governments led by the Samajwadi Party. “The Opposition is misleading people and spreading lies. A similar kind of notification was issued during Mulayam Singh Yadav’s government, and Akhilesh Yadav’s government also issued such notifications. It’s a routine exercise and not specific to the Kanwar Yatra. The law requires that names be registered, not identifying anyone by religion… Hindus who eat non-veg go to Muslim shops. In West Bengal, we go to many such shops, which are run by Muslims. The Opposition is trying to divide the people and Asaduddin Owaisi is playing the role of Jinnah,” Majumdar said.

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal also criticized the directive, warning that such divisive measures would fragment the country. “Kanwar Yatra Route UP directs eateries, including roadside carts, to display the names of the owners! Is this the route to a ‘Viksit Bharat’? Divisive agendas will only divide the country!” Sibal wrote on X.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Arshad Madani condemned the order, calling it a “new game of politics under the guise of religion.” He stated, “This is a completely discriminatory and communal decision, and anti-national elements will get an opportunity to benefit from this.”

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti expressed concerns that the BJP government would next target Dalits. “First, they (BJP) want to trample the rights of the Muslims, then it will be the turn of the Dalits and then backwards and other castes because they want to create a different system and what they did in UP is against the Constitution of this country,” she said.

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut accused the BJP of undermining national unity. “Now you (BJP) are directing food stalls to put up nameplates based on caste and religion? </excerpt>

After AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi hailed a conflict-hit West Asian region during his oath in the Lok Sabha, a BJP official claimed on Tuesday that the Hyderabad MP could be disqualified for “demonstrating adherence to a foreign State.” Owaisi, re-elected for a fifth term from Hyderabad, invoked Telangana and BR Ambedkar, but it was his “Jai Palestine” slogan, following his oath in Urdu, that sparked uproar among treasury benches.

Defending his actions, Owaisi told reporters there was nothing inappropriate in his statements. “Other members are also saying different things… How is it wrong? Tell me the provision of the Constitution? You should also listen to what others said. I said what I had to. Read what Mahatma Gandhi had said about Palestine,” he remarked.

When questioned about his mention of Palestine, Owaisi responded, “They are oppressed people.” Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that he had received complaints about the mention of Palestine and would review the rules concerning such remarks.

“We do not have any enmity with Palestine or any other country. The only issue is, while taking the oath, is it proper for any member to raise a slogan praising another country? We will have to check the rules. Some members have come to me and complained about the raising of the Palestine slogan at the end of the oath,” Rijiju said.

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya highlighted Article 102 of the Constitution, which outlines the grounds for disqualification of a Member of Parliament. Malviya suggested that Owaisi’s remarks could fall under “demonstrating adherence to a foreign State,” which is a potential ground for disqualification.

Article 102 specifies that a person can be disqualified for being chosen as, and for being, a member of either House of Parliament if they:

(a) hold any office of profit under the Government of India or any State, except an office exempted by law;
(b) are of unsound mind as declared by a competent court;
(c) are an undischarged insolvent;
(d) are not a citizen of India, have voluntarily acquired the citizenship of a foreign State, or acknowledge allegiance or adherence to a foreign State;
(e) are disqualified by or under any law made by Parliament.

The incident has stirred considerable debate regarding the appropriateness of members raising slogans related to foreign countries during their oaths and the possible constitutional implications.

</excerpt>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “false clarification” over his comments against “those with more children” and “infiltrators,” which were interpreted by many as disparaging Muslims, was questioned by AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi. Owaisi charged that during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi and the BJP fostered extreme animosity towards Muslims by disseminating false information.

Owaisi said, “In his speech, Modi had labelled Muslims as infiltrators and those with too many children.” in a statement on X. He now says he didn’t want to address Hindu-Muslim relations or Muslims in general. Why did it take so long to provide this erroneous explanation? The foundation of Modi’s political career has been anti-Muslim sentiment.

“In this election, Modi and the BJP have propagated numerous falsehoods and incited tremendous animosity against Muslims. It’s not just Modi under scrutiny but also every voter who supported the BJP despite these speeches,” Owaisi added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an interview with News18, clarified his remarks on “infiltrators” and “those with more children,” stating that he wasn’t specifically targeting Muslims but referring to all poor families. He emphasized that he avoids playing the Hindu-Muslim card and believes in inclusive development.

“I am surprised. Who told you that mentioning people with more children implies they are Muslims? Why unfairly target Muslims? Poverty leads to large families, irrespective of religion. I didn’t specify Hindu or Muslim. I advocated for responsible family planning. Don’t burden the government to care for your children,” the Prime Minister stated on Tuesday.

PM Modi also reflected on the post-Godhra riots in Gujarat during his tenure as Chief Minister, acknowledging that his image among Muslims was tarnished after 2002. He emphasized his commitment to refrain from playing religious politics.

Asked about Muslim support in the elections, PM Modi asserted that people of the country, regardless of religion, will vote for him. He reiterated his pledge to avoid Hindu-Muslim politics.

Previously, in a public rally in Rajasthan, PM Modi accused the Congress of planning to redistribute wealth, alleging they aimed to distribute assets among those with more children. He referred to Congress’s purported plans to conduct surveys and redistribute wealth, including women’s jewelry.

Prime Minister Modi filed his nomination papers from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, seeking a third consecutive term. Varanasi will vote in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha polls on June 1, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.

</excerpt>

Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, responded to the report from the Economic Advisory Council to the PM (EAC-PM) on Thursday. He dismissed it as a “report from Whatsapp University.”

When questioned about the declining share of the Hindu population, Owaisi requested to see the report first before responding. He questioned the source and credibility of the report, referring to it as being from “Whatsapp University.”

Owaisi’s remarks come amidst a report from the Economic Advisory Council to the PM (EAC-PM), which highlighted a decrease in the majority Hindu population’s share in India. According to the report, between 1950 and 2015, the Hindu population decreased by 7.82%, from 84.68% to 78.06%. Meanwhile, the Muslim population increased from 9.84% in 1950 to 14.09% in 2015, marking a 43.15% rise in their share.

Amit Malviya, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s in-charge of the National Information and Technology Department, targeted the Congress party in response to the EAC-PM report. Malviya suggested that if the Congress were to govern the country, there would be no place for Hindus.

Amit Malviya took to his official X handle to express concern over the shrinking share of Hindus and the significant growth in the Muslim population between 1950 and 2015. He attributed this trend to decades of Congress rule, suggesting that under their governance, there would be no place for Hindus.

Keshav Prasad Maurya, Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister, echoed similar sentiments, blaming the Congress for the decline in the Hindu population. He attributed the rise in the Muslim population to the Congress’s policy of Muslim appeasement.

According to the EAC report, the Christian population’s share increased from 2.24% to 2.36% between 1950 and 2015, marking a 5.38% rise. Similarly, the Sikh population saw an increase from 1.24% in 1950 to 1.85% in 2015, representing a 6.58% rise. The Buddhist population also witnessed a notable increase from 0.05% in 1950 to 0.81%.

Conversely, the Jain population’s share decreased from 0.45% in 1950 to 0.36% in 2015. The Parsi population experienced a significant 85% decline, reducing from 0.03% in 1950 to 0.004% in 2015.

</excerpt>

Asaduddin Owaisi responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement about Hyderabad, where Modi claimed that Congress and BRS had handed over the city to AIMIM. Owaisi strongly disagreed with this characterization, emphasizing that the people of Hyderabad should not be treated like animals.

He emphasized that the residents of Hyderabad are citizens and should not be considered the property of any political party. Owaisi made these remarks on Wednesday, asserting the rights of Hyderabad’s citizens.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent statement suggested that Hyderabad had been given “on lease” to AIMIM by Congress and BRS. In response, Asaduddin Owaisi, a leader of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, expressed his disagreement.

He stated that likening the people of Hyderabad to cattle is inappropriate. According to Owaisi, the citizens of Hyderabad are individuals with rights and should not be seen as belonging to any political party. Owaisi made these remarks to underline the importance of recognizing the citizens’ autonomy and dignity.

PM Modi accused Congress and BRS of giving Hyderabad to AIMIM on “lease.” Asaduddin Owaisi responded, saying the people of Hyderabad aren’t owned by political parties. He stated that Hyderabad has rejected Hindutva ideology for 40 years and trusted AIMIM. Owaisi expressed confidence that Hindutva will be defeated again.

Owaisi shifted the focus to electoral funding, criticizing PM Modi. He accused Modi of being indebted to parties that donated Rs 6,000 crore through electoral bonds. According to Owaisi, Modi has sold India’s assets to these sponsors. He pointed out that 21 people now have more wealth than 70 crore Indians, calling them Modi’s real family.

Speaking to ANI, Owaisi claimed that PM Modi is frustrated because AIMIM has been defeating BJP for 40 years.

Asaduddin Owaisi emphasized that AIMIM has been defeating the BJP for 40 years. He questioned the whereabouts of funds for PM CARES and electoral bonds, highlighting issues like unemployment and inflation. Owaisi criticized PM Modi’s alleged intentions to change the constitution to end reservation, dismissing claims about Muslim women removing Hindu symbols.

PM Modi accused Congress and BRS of giving Hyderabad to AIMIM on “lease” during a rally in Telangana’s Karimnagar. He claimed that BJP is the first to challenge AIMIM and accused Congress and BRS of helping AIMIM win in Hyderabad.

Madhavi Latha is set to contest against Asaduddin Owaisi, marking the first time BJP has fielded a female candidate in Hyderabad. Owaisi has served four terms as the Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad since 2004, succeeding his father, Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, who held the seat from 1984.

The Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency consists of seven assembly segments, mostly held by AIMIM except Goshamahal. Voting for all 17 Telangana seats will take place on May 13 in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. In the 2019 elections, TRS won nine seats, BJP four, Congress three, and AIMIM one.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won four seats out of the 17 in Telangana. The Lok Sabha polls are held in seven phases until June 1, with vote counting on June 4.

</excerpt>

Chief Asaduddin Owaisi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) compared the situation of Muslims in modern India to that of Jews in Germany during the time of Adolf Hitler’s regime.

“The situation of Muslims in today’s India is similar to the situation witnessed by Jews during Hitler’s era in the 1930s,” Owaisi said in an interview with ANI. The gas chamber was the final stage; there was a lengthy process involved, including hate speeches and the creation of films.”

He criticized the Prime Minister for labeling all minorities as “infiltrators” merely to secure electoral victories. “Our PM is saying that Mangalsutra will be removed from Hindu women and given to Muslims. 17 crore Muslims are being called infiltrators. Whether Modi ji will remain or not, the country will remain. The Total Fertility Rate (TFR) among Muslim women has fallen, this is the government’s own data. To win an election you are calling all minorities as infiltrators. Hitler also used to say the same thing to Jews that they were not original Germans. Does this language suit the Prime Minister?” Owaisi questioned.

Asserting that Muslims are the poorest demographic in the country, Owaisi expressed his readiness to substantiate this claim with data. “Is Modi the Prime Minister of only Hindus? They have a fight with Congress, why are we (Muslims) being brought in between? PM should tell that Muslims are the poorest in this country. I am ready to prove this with data,” he stated.

Owaisi further criticized the Prime Minister for neglecting to address significant national achievements in his speeches. “The message that has been sent to Muslims and secular Hindus, today they are saying what is going on? They are asking me why is he (PM) so frustrated? The question was raised so many times in Parliament, but the government does not have any data on infiltrators. The language that the Prime Minister is using today was used by Hitler in 1930. The people of the country will decide whether Modi will step down but he has made the youth of the country unemployed, not able to stop China, all these are issues,” he remarked.

Regarding the identification of Muslims based on their attire and family size, Owaisi likened it to the discriminatory practices against Jews during Hitler’s regime. “Now there is no need to even wear a cross as it was put on Jews during Hitler’s time. We are talking about a government that has systematically discriminated against every society, especially Muslims and Dalits,” he asserted.

Owaisi also criticized the Uniform Civil Code, arguing that one law cannot be applied universally. He termed Uttarakhand’s UCC law as “Very dangerous,” particularly its provisions restricting inter-religious marriages. “The UCC law of Uttarakhand is very dangerous. This law is just a way to distance Muslims from religion,” he concluded.

</excerpt>

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international Joint General Secretary Surendra Jain on Tuesday warned AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for his comment that “Young people, I am telling you, we have lost our Masjid and you are seeing what is being done there. Don’t you have pain in your hearts?.”

Speaking to ANI, Surendra Jain said that the way he (Owaisi) repeatedly criticizes the verdict given by the Supreme Court on Shri Ram Janmabhoomi also comes under the ambit of contempt of the Supreme Court.

“I want to warn leaders like Owaisi not to provoke the people of Muslim community again and again, they are pushing muslim society towards such a dark alley whose end does not lead to development” he added.

Senior VHP Leader Surendra Jain further told ANI that I condemn Owaisi’s statement and we have asked our legal cell team to see whether his statement is going beyond the legal limits, going beyond the limits of the Constitution and violating the law. If such is found, then now we can also consider legal action against these leaders.

“As the construction of the grand temple of Shri Ram at the birthplace of Shri Ram is moving towards completion, the frustration of some Muslim leaders like Owaisi is increasing rapidly and they are becoming even more frustrated when they see that a large section of Muslim society is preparing to welcome the grand temple, In frustration, they say such words which not only inciting a section of the Muslim society against the Hindus but also instigating them against the government,” he added.

As the inauguration of the Ram Temple is nearing, All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi has appealed to the youth of the Muslim community to be watchful of the activities done by the BJP-led Centre and said that masjids in the country should remain inhabited.

With reference to Babri Masjid, Asaduddin Owaisi said that the place where the holy Quran was recited for the past 500 years is not in their hands anymore.
“Young people, I am telling you, we have lost our Masjid and you are seeing what is being done there. Don’t you have pain in your hearts ?,” Owaisi said at a programme in BhavNagar.

AIMIM chief further stated that young Muslims have to remain alert and united.
“Maintain your support and strength. Keep your mosques populated. It may happen that these Masjids are taken away from us. I hope the young man of today who will be the old man of tomorrow will keep his eyes ahead and think hard about how he can help himself, his family, his city, and his neighbourhood. Unity is a strength, unity is a blessing,” Owaisi added.

Meanwhile, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha launched a scathing attack on the Congress party on Monday over the hijab row, stating that the party is confused and does not implement what they promised.
“Congress forgets all promises as soon as it wins elections. They promised to provide six guarantees in Karnataka, but nothing has been done as of now,” K Kavitha said.
“They promised to lift the hijab ban in educational institutions in Karnataka, but now seem confused about it. They do not implement what they promise. It is in their DNA,” she said.

Earlier, Siddaramaiah announced on Friday that his government would withdraw the hijab ban order imposed by the BJP, emphasizing that no politics should be done regarding people’s preferences in clothing and food.
On Saturday, reiterating his statement, the Chief Minister mentioned that the decision is under consideration and will be discussed by the government.
“We are thinking of withdrawing the hijab ban decision. We will discuss it. I have said this in response to a question. We have not done it yet,” added the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah’s ministers in the Cabinet, including Priyank Kharge, HK Patil, and Madhu Bangarappa, came in support of his announcement and highlighted the party’s inclusive political stance.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Owaisi further alleged that the government in Haryana is being run by VHP which remained inefficient in stopping the violence.
“The government is run by VHP which has shown inefficiency in stopping the violence. The houses of people who saved the lives of Hindus were demolished. Targeted violence, targeted collective punishment through demolition is being given to the Muslims.”
“There is no difference between VHP and BJP and the arrest made by them is just drama. The country is watching all this.”
Reacting to VHP being adamant about taking out Brij Mandal Shobha Yatra in Nuh, Owaisi questioned “Will you bow down when an organisation threatens the government? The government is involved in the violence”.

</excerpt>

After gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed was killed in Prayagraj, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that Atiq was the second former MP from the Muslim community to be “murdered without impunity”.

“Atiq is the second Muslim ex-MP who was murdered with impunity. Ehsan Jaffry was ruthlessly hacked to death by a mob in Gujarat in 2002 and today it’s Atiq. Shot and killed in police custody,” tweeted Owaisi. Atiq Ahmed represented the Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency between 2004-2009.Ehsan Jaffry was a member of the 6th Lok Sabha. He was killed by a mob in the Gulbarg Society massacre on February 28, 2002, following the Godhra incident.After Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot dead in Prayagraj, AIMIM chief Owaisi called the incident a “cold-blooded murder” while adding that people who are celebrating this killing are “vultures”.

OWAISI CLAIMED ATIQ’S KILLING ‘PLANNED ATTACK’
Addressing the mediapersons on Sunday, Owaisi said, “Uttar Pradesh’s BJP government has a role in this. Supreme Court-monitored investigation should be done and a committee should be formed. No officer from Uttar Pradesh should be included in the committee. This was a ‘cold-blooded’ murder.”He further said, “How did they (killers) get those weapons?… Why were they raising religious slogans after killing them? What will you call them if not terrorists? Will you call them Patriots? People celebrating this incident are vultures…”

He said the incident raises a big question about the law and order situation.
The AIMIM chief questioned whether the public will have any faith in the constitution and Law and order of the country after this incident.

OWAISI DEMANDED YOGI’S RESIGNATION
“I have always been saying that BJP in Uttar Pradesh is not running the government by the rule of law but by the rule of gun,” he said.Owaisi further demanded Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s resignation.

“I demand the resignation of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Supreme Court to form a team and investigate this matter. We also demand all police officers present there should be removed from service,” he said.

QUESTIONS RAISED ON YOGI’S LAW & ORDER

“Atiq and his brother were in police custody. He was handcuffed. JSR (Jai Shri Ram) slogans were also raised. The killing of both is the failure of Yogi’s law and order system. Those celebrating encounter raj are also responsible for this murder,” Owaisi added.Days after Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad was killed in an encounter in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi, the gangster-turned-politician and his brother, Ashraf Ahmed, were killed on Saturday while being taken for a medical examination in Prayagraj.Both the gangsters collapsed on the spot after they were shot at nearly point-blank range.

Asaduddin Owaisi, a Lok Sabha MP, criticised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday ahead of the civic elections for the city on a number of issues, including healthcare, garbage management and water supply.

Among other things, Owaisi charged Kejriwal with being mute on the Bilkis Bano case and the Uniform Civil Code. When Bilkis Bano was sexually assaulted during the Gujarat riots in 2002, she was nine months pregnant, and the recent release of the defendants in the case had greatly angered the public.

“I think if there is a competition about who makes bigger false claims – (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi or Kejriwal – they are equals. It was this Delhi CM who made no attempts to stop riots (in the city in 2020). He just sat near Mahatma Gandhi’s statue to protest,” Owaisi claimed, stepping up the attack on Kejriwal. “He even talks about putting Lakshmi-Ganesh photos on notes. Now the younger brother is making an appeal to the elder brother, and the elder brother is happy that the younger one is following in his footsteps,” the Hyderabad MP further said, without naming Arvind Kejriwal and PM Modi.

Arvind Kejriwal had come under fire for his ‘request’ to the Prime Minister for putting the photos of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh on currency notes. “India is a country where all religions are respected. Even if a person is an agnostic, he too is respected.”

“When the stir at Shaheen Bagh (against Citizenship Amendment Act) was gaining wide attention, he made remarks such as – ‘I would have finished the protests in half hour if it was in my control’,” Owaisi said.

“When the first Covid wave was on, the Delhi Chief Minister was among those who blamed the Tablighi Jamaat for the surge in case. A special bulletin used to come highlighting the Jamaat cases separately,” the AIMIM chief said.

His remarks were made when he canvassed voters ahead of Sunday’s MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) elections.

The AAP wants to take over the MCD, which is now under the authority of the BJP. Vote tallying will take place on December 7.

BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Sunday slammed the AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi over the latter’s remarks on population and called him a “Bayan Purush”.

“Asaduddin Owaisi has become ‘Bayan Purush’. He wants to create a controversy. A low population is beneficial for society,” said Hussain. The remarks came after Owaisi asked RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to “not fret” as the Muslim population was “rather declining” in the country, asserting that Indian Muslims were the ones using contraceptives the most.

The BJP leader also gave his take on the population and said, “The more the population grows, the bigger the problem it creates. That should be kept in mind. ” A war of words started after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat called for a comprehensive population policy to ensure that the rising population do not become a burden but can be used as a resource.

Responding to the statement, Owaisi said, “Don’t fret. The Muslim population is not increasing. It’s rather falling… Who’s using condoms the most? We are. “Mohan Bhagwat won’t speak on this.”

Owaisi also called out a recent viral video in which members of a minority community were purportedly beaten by police officials on the streets. “You could have taken them to the police station. But you chose to rip off their esteem and hit them directly in the streets. In a nation of 133 crores where 30 crores Muslims exist, the dignity of a Muslim is lesser than a streetside dog,” he added.

On 5th October, the RSS chief inaugurated the annual Dussehra celebrations and stressed the application of the population policy equally. He said, “It is true that the higher the population, the greater the burden. If the population is used properly, it becomes a resource. We also have to consider how many people our country can feed and support after 50 years. Population imbalance leads to changes in geographical boundaries. “

He also advocated giving equal rights to women. “Considering a woman as the mother is good, but restricting them to closed doors is not good. There is a need to give equal rights to women to take decisions everywhere. All the work that the mother power can do that man cannot do, they have so much power. And therefore it is important to enlighten, and empower them and give them the freedom to work and give equal participation in the work in this way,” he said.

Recently, Mohan Bhagwat met Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, chief Imam of the All India Imam Organisation, in a mosque in New Delhi and discussed ways to promote communal harmony in the country.
