Haryana Minister Anil Vij Continues Tirade Against Party Leaders

Haryana Power and Transport Minister Anil Vij continued his tirade against his party leaders chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and Haryana BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli and demanded latter’s resignation over the gang rape allegations against him.
On Monday, the seven time MLA from Ambala Cantt launched a fresh swipe against the chief minister Nayab Saini by sharing a post on the his X account with a photograph of Ashish Tayal, who claims to be a close friend of Nayab Saini, claiming that Tayal has numerous pictures with Nayab Saini on his Facebook profile, the party workers who were seen with Ashish Tayal during the Assembly elections are now seen with Chitra Sarwara, who had contested assembly elections against Vij from Ambala cantt assembly constituency independently.
“What does this relationship signify? If Tayal remains a close friend of Nayab Saini, then the question arises: Who orchestrated the opposition to the BJP in elections”, reads the post. Vij’s post highlights a political scenario where Ashish Tayal, a self-proclaimed friend of Nayab Saini (likely a BJP leader), is seen associating with workers who are also supporting Chitra Sarwara, a rival candidate. The post was being circulated widely on the social media, however, there was no immediate response to Vij’s allegations by the chief minister.
Earlier on Sunday, Vij demanded the resignation of his party’s state unit president, Mohan Lal Badoli, who has been booked in a gangrape case. “He is an accused under Section 376D of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to gangrape,” Vij was quoted as saying by the newspaper. “How can such a person preside over a meeting of women? To uphold the party’s principles, he must step down immediately.”
He further stated, “Even senior leaders like Advani Ji resigned when allegations were made against them. He is not above them.”
Badoli and singer Rocky Mittal were booked in December in a gangrape case in Himachal Pradesh. Both have denied the allegations. On Monday, Vij conducted a surprise raid in Ambala’s Baldev Nagar area to tackle the issue of overloaded trucks and other vehicles. The operation, carried out on the Baldev Nagar-Narayangarh Highway, led to the seizure of multiple overloaded trucks.
During the raid, it was found that several truck drivers were operating without proper documentation. Minister Vij directed officials to take strict action against these drivers, resulting in the confiscation of their vehicles.
The raid saw the presence of RTA (Regional Transport Authority) police and other officials on the ground, ensuring the enforcement of transport regulations. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving road safety and curbing illegal transportation practices.
Minister Vij emphasized that such surprise inspections will continue across the state to ensure compliance with vehicle load limits and documentation requirements, aiming to reduce accidents and maintain order on highways. Last week Vij had launched a scathing attack on the Chief Minister, accusing him of being inaccessible and indifferent to governance. His remarks came a day after he voiced frustration over officials allegedly ignoring his directives and stopped holding his weekly Janta Darbar (Open Session) due to administrative inaction.
He had also warned of launching an indefinite hunger strike, drawing a parallel with farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s protest. “I have nothing to do with the rest of Haryana, but the people of Ambala Cantonment have elected me seven times. If I am not able to do their work, I will have no choice but to sit on a fast unto death,” Vij had asserted.

The political discord within the Haryana Cabinet deepened further on Friday as senior BJP leader and Cabinet Minister Anil Vij again launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, accusing him of being inaccessible and indifferent to governance. “Ever since Saini took over as Chief Minister, he has been travelling in his ‘udan khatola’ (helicopter) and does not come down. This is not just my concern; all MLAs, MPs, and ministers are saying the same,” Vij said in Ambala Cantonment.

His statement came a day after he expressed frustration over officials’ alleged non-compliance with his directives, the seven-time MLA from Ambala Cantt declared that he had stopped holding his weekly Janta Darbar (Open Session) due to administrative inaction. The seven times MLA and former Home Minister even warned of launching an indefinite hunger strike, drawing parallels with farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s protest.

“I have not taken anything from the rest of Haryana, but the people of Ambala Cantonment have elected me seven times. If their work is not done, I will be forced to sit on a fast unto death,” Vij stated.
The veteran leader also made a sensational claim that a “big leader” within the party had attempted to engineer his defeat in the previous Assembly elections. Furthermore, he alleged that there was even an attempt to eliminate him.

Vij said he had requested the transfer of officials who had worked against him during the elections, but despite 100 days passing, no action had been taken. “Now, I am fully convinced that a senior leader is behind this,” he remarked.

The rift between Vij and Saini has been escalating over the past few months, with the former repeatedly voicing his grievances. His latest outburst signals growing unrest within the BJP-led government in Haryana, raising concerns about internal divisions ahead of crucial political events in the state.
However, taking note of his repeated outburst in the media the government has transferred Ambala Deputy commissioner on Friday and Ajay Singh Tomar has been appointed as deputy commissioner of Ambala as Ambala Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta has been shifted to Yamunanagar.

Feeling ignored by officials, Haryana Minister Anil Vij threatens hunger strike like Dallewal

Senior Haryana BJP minister Anil Vij has expressed his frustration over government officials allegedly ignoring his instructions and has warned of launching a hunger strike akin to that of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. Vij, a seven-time MLA from Ambala Cantt, announced that he has decided to discontinue his weekly Janta Darbar in Ambala as officials are not acting on his directives.

“I used to hold a Janta Darbar in Ambala every Monday, but I have now stopped it. The officers are not following my instructions. I have no concern with the rest of the state, but the people of Ambala Cantt have elected me. If their work is not done, I will start an agitation,” Vij said on Thursday. Vij also hinted that he may stop attending meetings of the Public Grievances Committee, citing the non-compliance of his orders.

Vij, known for his outspoken nature, has had frequent run-ins with the Haryana BJP leadership. Recently, he demanded the resignation of state BJP president Mohan Lal Badoli, who has been booked in a gangrape case by the Himachal Pradesh Police. Earlier, he had termed the allegations against Badoli as “very serious” and expressed confidence that the BJP high command would take action.

A BJP veteran, Vij has won four consecutive elections from Ambala Cantt since 2009. When the BJP secured a majority in Haryana in 2014, Vij was seen as a contender for the chief minister’s post. However, the party chose first-time MLA Manohar Lal for the post of chief minister. Again in 2019, he was again in the race for CM but was overlooked once more, though he was given key portfolios like Home and Health in Manohar’s cabinet.

Vij built a strong public image during his tenure as Home Minister by addressing public grievances swiftly. However, his role was reduced when the BJP replaced Manohar with Nayab Singh Saini in March 2024 after breaking ties with the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). Vij, visibly upset, left the BJP Legislature Party meeting midway when Saini was elected as the new leader and even skipped his swearing-in ceremony. He was not included in Saini’s first cabinet.

Ahead of the 2024 Assembly elections, Vij openly projected himself as the “best CM candidate of the BJP despite the party leader Amit Shah had already announced Nayab Saini as CM Candidate of the BJP. However, after the results, he toned down his stance, saying, “I will perform my duties even if the party appoints me as a chaukidar.”

But, later in the Nayab Saini cabinet he failed to get Home or Finance but was eventually given the Energy, Transport, and Labour ministries, despite initial disappointment, he later stated that he had “no complaints” and would work to bring all three departments to the top. But with his latest remarks and the decision to halt his Janta Darbar, Vij has once again signaled discontent within the Haryana BJP.

It is learnt that most of the ministers of the Nayab Saini cabinet were not happy with the chief minister’s office holding all powers, especially transfers and they have raised this issue on several occasions, invoking a response from the chief minister who made it clear that the procedure of transfers will remain online only.

Anil Vij, Haryana Minister has urged farmers to find alternative ways to protest, rather than blocking trains.

In a statement, he said, “After permission from the Administration, every organisation can hold a protest. The farmers should not block trains as it will cause inconvenience to many people. They should find another way to protest.”

Earlier, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher confirmed the planned protests, stating that the tractor march would be held outside Punjab on December 16, followed by a large-scale rail blockade in Punjab two days later.

His announcement came after a group of 101 farmers, known as the ‘Jathha,’ was blocked by police while trying to march toward the Shambhu border.

Pandher condemned the actions of the police, accusing them of using excessive force to disperse the protestors.

“The Indian government, the fifth-largest economy in the world, used force against 101 farmers. Chemical water was thrown at us using cannons, bombs were hurled, and tear gas shells were fired. Seventeen farmers have been injured, many of whom are in serious condition, and they are not being given proper treatment in the hospital. We urge the Punjab government to ensure adequate treatment,” Pandher claimed. He called on the Punjab government to ensure adequate medical care for the injured farmers.

Pandher also announced that the farmers would continue their protest with a ‘Rail Roko’ (Rail Blockade) in Punjab on December 18. He urged the people of Punjab, particularly those living near railway tracks, to participate in the blockade by stopping train services from 12 to 3 pm.

Addressing the political climate, Pandher criticised the opposition, particularly Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, for not effectively representing farmers’ concerns in Parliament. “We appeal to all Punjabis to participate in large numbers,” he added, stressing the importance of the upcoming protests.

Despite the heavy-handed response from authorities, farmers have remained committed to their demands, which include securing Minimum Support Price (MSP) guarantees and opposing corporate control over agricultural markets.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anil Vij staked his claim for the Chief Minister’s post ahead of the Haryana Assembly election on Sunday. Vij, highlighting his seniority within the party, requested consideration for the CM position.

“I am the senior-most MLA of BJP in Haryana. I have contested elections six times. I have never asked the party for anything. However, on the demand of the people, I will claim the designation of CM based on my seniority this time,” Vij stated.

He acknowledged that the final decision rests with the party’s high command, saying, “It is in the hands of the high command whether they will make me CM or not. If they make me the CM, I will change the picture of Haryana.”

BJP Government offers highest MSP for crops in Haryana, says Anil Vij

Former Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said that Haryana is a state where the BJP government has provided the highest Minimum Support Price (MSP) on crops for farmers. He mentioned that MSP has been given on 24 crops, making Haryana the first state in the country to do so. He further criticized Bhupinder Singh Hooda, saying that even when Hooda was the Chief Minister, he did nothing for the farmers and questioned when Hooda provided MSP on more crops than the BJP in Haryana.

In response to a question about the Supreme Court›s impending decision regarding bulldozer operations, he said that the decision of the Honorable Supreme Court will be studied because it is our guiding authority, and further actions will be taken in accordance with their ruling.

When asked about Rahul Gandhi›s statement regarding changing the Constitution, Vij said that it was actually Rahul Gandhi›s grandmother who attempted to change the Constitution, not the BJP. She used Article 356 to dissolve state assemblies, whereas Narendra Modi has not done so.When asked about AAP›s claim that they will provide the same facilities in Haryana as they do in Delhi and Punjab, whereas BJP has provided none, Vij said that the people of Delhi threw AAP out from all seven Lok Sabha seats, and similarly, AAP faced a severe setback in Punjab. AAP has lost its credibility and now has nothing left. When asked about the absence of candidate lists from any party for the Haryana Assembly elections, Vij said that nominations haven›t even started yet, but he hopes that all party lists will be released before the nominations.

Olympian Manu Bhaker’s previous tweets reminding former Haryana sports minister Anil Vij of a ₹2 crore cash incentive pledge went viral on Sunday, following her historic bronze medal in the 10m air pistol event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Manu Bhaker made history as the first Indian shooter to win gold in the Youth Olympics in October 2018.

Following her historic achievement, Vij tweeted, “Congratulations to Manu Bhaker for winning shooting gold in the Youth Olympics.”

“Haryana government will provide Manu Bhaker a cash prize of ₹2 crore for winning the gold. Previous governments used to pay only ₹10 lakh,” he stated in another tweet.

On January 4, 2019, about three months after the announcement of the monetary incentive, the shooter uploaded images of Vij’s tweet and asked, “Sir, please confirm whether it is accurate… “Or just Jumla.”

Bhaker also believed that someone in the Haryana government was playing “games” with the money that would be paid to the medalists.

Anil Vij sought an apology from the ace shooter, citing the manner in which she voiced her disappointment at not obtaining the promised financial award. He claimed Bhaker should have sought confirmation from the sports department before making her concern public.

The minister called it “disgusting” to criticize a state administration that gave the biggest monetary prizes in the country. He stated that Bhaker will receive the promised ₹2 crore.

Vij also urged players to show “some sense of discipline,” adding Bhaker should apologize for starting the controversy.

“She has a long way to go. She should focus on her game only,” he tweeted.

After Bhaker won bronze at the Paris Olympics, social media users dug up their heated exchange.

“Wheat procurement will start from March 26…”: Haryana CM Saini

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated on Saturday that the state is progressing on the path of development and will commence wheat procurement from March 26. He assured that the state government is ensuring that farmers do not encounter any difficulties.

A cabinet meeting was convened today at the Haryana Secretariat by the newly appointed Chief Minister. CM Saini mentioned, “Many issues were discussed in this meeting. All the ministers wished all the people of the state a very happy Holi. Haryana is continuously moving ahead in development. The work initiated by Manohar ji is being carried forward. Wheat procurement will begin in Haryana from March 26, and orders have been issued regarding this. Additionally, we are also ensuring that farmers do not face any issues with water and electricity.”

CM Saini further stated that they have devised a roadmap for advancing the state. “People’s problems should be understood, and their solutions should be found,” he added.

In another development, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met with Anil Vij, the former state home minister and a senior BJP leader who was excluded from the newly formed cabinet, causing unease within the state party unit.

The meeting between the two leaders occurred after Vij’s exclusion from the new BJP cabinet led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, which surprised many. The meeting was held at Vij’s residence in Ambala.

Vij had not attended the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet and left the Legislature Party meeting midway. However, following Friday’s meeting, the Haryana CM stated that Vij has always blessed him as a senior leader.

“Anil Vij is our senior leader. I have always been learning from him… He has always blessed me… We will win all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state under his guidance…” Saini remarked.

Haryana: Anil Vij orders SIT probe against travel agent

Haryana Home and Health Minister Anil Vij redressed the people’s grievances in Ambala on Saturday and directed the concerned officers to take action in various cases.

Vij asked the Sonipat Police Commissioner to investigate and take prompt action on a complaint filed by a guy who lives in the Ambala Cantonment Housing Board and claims he was scammed out of Rs 40 lakh in the name of sending his kid to America. He claimed that the agent informed them that he transfers young people abroad and works for an airline.

According to the man, after accepting the money, the agent handed his son a phony visa and ticket and detained him in Bangalore for two days. When he became suspicious, he demanded his money and papers returned, which the agent refused. Vij delegated the probe to the Special probe Team (SIT) formed to investigate immigration fraud and issued directives for action.

Vij was also asked to investigate another army personnel complaint. The army soldier, who works at Air Force Pathankot and lives in Kharkhoda, revealed that he and his wife are going through a divorce.

His wife lives with her parents and only a few days earlier forced her way into his house for two minutes. Following this, the wife went to the Kharkhoda police station and filed a rape and other charges against him.

The soldier claimed to have video and photos of his wife forcibly entering the residence. He said that the police were not paying attention to him. The Home Minister directed the Sonipat Police Commissioner to take action on the matter.

Similarly, numerous more complaints were brought to Vij’s attention, and he urged the concerned personnel to take action.

‘My party does not spare any wrongdoer’; says Haryana minister Anil Vij

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Saturday said to probe the allegations of wrestlers against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) the BJP-led central government has initiated action and a three-member committee has been formed.

After wrestlers protested at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi Vij’s reaction came and said, “This is a very serious matter, my party does not spare any wrongdoer, an inquiry has been instituted and strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty. The government has initiated action and a three-member committee has been formed, they are serious.”

Earlier on Saturday Congress leader Manickam Tagore said to protect the women in the country Prime Minister took action.

“It is unfortunate that the medal winners have to sit at Jantar Mantar. It shows how the government of India particularly the Prime Minister approaches this kind of issue. Modi should get in and set things correctly,” Tagore said.

“His silence is a support to the people who have done mistakes. (WFI chief) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who is an MP should be responsible,” Tagore added.

Tagore further stated, “Sexual harassment allegations against the BJP leader who is chairman of the Wrestling Federation of India is unfortunate. Modi speaks about Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao. Phogat has complained to Modi long back. This is the responsibility of Modi.”

“Behaviour towards the women wrestlers. It’s high time that the Prime Minister act and keeps his word and protects the girls of India, particularly girls who get medals for us fighting for the Indian flag,” Tagore said.

Meanwhile on Saturday after meeting Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur wrestlers called off their protest.

Addressing the press conference Anurag Thakur said, “Considering the demands of the sportspersons, we have decided to constitute an oversight committee, whose names will be announced tomorrow. The investigation will be completed in the next four weeks, wherein all the allegations leveled will be thoroughly probed to take a final decision.”

However, till the probe ends WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh would step aside.

Haryana Health Minister’s health condition stable, likely to be discharged soon

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Home and Health Minister, Anil Vij, who is undergoing treatment for COVID Pneumonia at Medanta-The Medicity since December 15 , 2020, is stable and he is on minimal oxygen support. In a medical bulletin issued by the hospital today, Dr. A.K. Dubey, Medical Superintendent, Medanta-The Medicity said that, Anil Vij was kept in the COVID ICU on High Flow Nasal Cannula. The Health Minister’s condition showed steady improvement and he was shifted to a Room in COVID Ward on December 23, 2020. His blood investigations and CT Chest also showed gradual improvement in response to the treatment. At present his condition is stable and he is on minimal oxygen support.

The team of doctors including Dr. Virender Yadav, Dr. Deepak Govil, Dr. Anand Jaiswal, Dr. R.R Kasliwal and Dr. Sushila Kataria are satisfied with his progress and are hopeful for his discharge in the next few days.
