The image, proven AI-generated and filled with errors, was debunked by Pakistani outlet Dawn and India’s PIB Fact Check.
</excerpt>

In a turn of events that has left Pakistan’s political establishment in ridicule and criticism, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has been criticized by Indian political leadership for reading out a false, AI-created headline in his recent Senate speech. The screenshot, which went viral, falsely stated that UK-based newspaper The Telegraph praised Pakistan Air Force as the “Undisputed King of the Skies” during the ongoing battle with India.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya responded quickly, saying, “Pakistan’s propaganda is quickly crumbling, revealing a web of lies and desperation.” Malviya posted a video of Dar’s speech and noted that even Pakistan’s top newspaper, Dawn, had shot down the charge. In Malviya’s opinion, the falsehood was not just humiliating but also reflective of Pakistan’s desperate bid to salvage face following its military losses.

Pakistan’s propaganda is quickly falling apart, exposing a web of lies and desperation. In a blatant attempt to save face, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar misled the country’s Senate by claiming that The Telegraph had declared the Pakistan Air Force as the “Undisputed King of the… pic.twitter.com/MBA6gVb5M6

— Amit Malviya (@amitmalviya) May 16, 2025

Fake Headline Falls Apart Under Scrutiny

The photo, which went viral on social media since May 10, contained glaring discrepancies. iVerify Pakistan, the fact-checking unit of The Dawn newspaper, examined the supposed Telegraph front page and discovered it full of spelling errors and presentation flaws—evidence that it had never been published by any credible news outlet. Errors like “Fyaw.” for “Force,” “performance” for “performance,” and the use of “Aur Force” instead of “Air Force” certify its falsity.

The composition was not The Telegraph’s editorial style, and yet another expose of the image being fake. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of India also entered the mix and stated that the viral image is fake and created using artificial intelligence tools.

Indian Leaders React with Derision

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar didn’t hold back either. He turned to X (previously Twitter) and ridiculed Pakistan’s military leadership and compared them with the Indian National Congress. “Besides Pak Army, there is only one other organizatn that functions on sole basis of ‘people are fools so let’s just lie’—that is Rahul’s Congress,” he tweeted.

Chandrasekhar’s observations highlighted the increasing frustration in Indian political circles about Pakistan’s disinformation strategy. By referencing a made-up headline in a government speech, Ishaq Dar not only opened himself to questioning but also badly bruised Pakistan’s reputation on the global stage.

A Pattern of Deception?

This is not an isolated incident. Commentators have observed that Pakistan has made a greater reliance on fake news and tampered narratives to influence public opinion at times of diplomatic or military tension. The deployment of AI-manufactured media, as unveiled in this case, marks a new low in information warfare.

While the Indian side sticks to verifiable facts and official releases, Pakistan’s reliance on deceptive images and unverified reports only undermines its cause further.

As global audiences become more vigilant and empowered to recognize and verify the veracity of information, such faux pas are sure to boomerang. And in this case, it appears Pakistan’s bid to legitimize an imaginary triumph has spectacularly collapsed.

</excerpt>

An elderly man who bravely faced water cannons during a protest in Kolkata has become a symbol of resistance, igniting a heated debate between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC). The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral, drawing attention from across the nation.

The protest, which took place on Tuesday, was organized in response to the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. Thousands gathered at College Square as part of the ‘Nabanna Abhiyan’ rally, demanding justice. However, tensions quickly escalated when the police used lathi charges, water cannons, and tear gas to disperse the crowd after protesters allegedly broke barricades and pelted stones.

Amidst the chaos, a video surfaced showing an elderly man holding the Indian tricolour, standing his ground against the forceful spray of water cannons. The man’s defiance became a focal point of the protest, with BJP leaders highlighting his courage.

BJP’s Response: A Symbol of Defiance

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya shared the video, praising the man’s bravery. “The man, waving a national flag, on the iconic Howrah bridge, amidst blazing water cannon, is the ultimate symbol of defiance against an oppressive Mamata Banerjee regime,” Malviya wrote.

BJP leader Locket Chatterjee also lauded the man, stating, “Saffron has always stood tall against injustice, and this marks the beginning of the TMC government’s downfall. Arrogance, lawlessness, and unchecked egos will soon face their consequences.”

Other BJP leaders echoed similar sentiments, portraying the man as a symbol of the broader fight against what they termed as TMC’s tyranny.

TMC’s Counter: Not a Student, But a Hooligan

In contrast, the TMC dismissed the man’s actions, questioning his presence at a students’ protest. TMC leader Riju Datta pointed out that the man was not a student, referring to him as a “BJP hooligan.” Datta accused the BJP of orchestrating violence during the protest, stating, “They wanted ‘Dead Bodies,’ they wanted to create Anarchy like Bangladesh in Bengal.

The Broader Context

The protest was primarily organized by the student platform ‘Chhatrasamaj’ and ‘Sangrami Joutha Mancha,’ representing state government employees. The rally was a response to the alleged mishandling of the investigation into the doctor’s death, with protesters demanding accountability and justice.

As the debate continues, the elderly man’s image has become a powerful symbol, reflecting the deep political divides in West Bengal. Whether seen as a hero or a provocateur, his actions have undeniably stirred the ongoing discourse on governance and dissent in the state.

Now that Telangana Police, under a Congress government, has filed a closure report, stating that Vemula did not belong to the SC community and died by suicide, will Rahul Gandhi apologize to the Dalits? The Congress and so-called ‘secular’ parties have often used Dalits for their politics but have always failed to provide them justice. This is yet another instance,” Malviya posted on X.

Commenting on the closure report, BJP spokesperson Ajay Alok alleged that the Congress fabricated a false narrative surrounding Vemula’s death. In an interview with ANI, Alok stated, “The issue is not whether he (Rohith Vemula) was Dalit or not. Questions should be raised about those who did not allow Parliament to function, claiming that the BJP government is anti-Dalit. They politicized the issue and built a false narrative around it.”

However, the Telangana Director General of Police announced on Friday that they have opted to conduct further investigations into the death of the research scholar in January 2016. This decision followed days after the state police submitted a closure report in their probe into the matter. Vemula, a PhD scholar at the Hyderabad Central University, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in a hostel room on January 17, 2016. He allegedly felt distressed over disciplinary measures taken against him by the university.

Significantly, Ram Navami, commemorating the birth anniversary of Lord Rama, falls on April 17.

“Who are these ‘them’ that Mamata Banerjee wants the minorities to send out of Bengal? The Bengali Hindus? Where will they go? West Bengal was created as a homeland for Hindu Bengalis. Shame on the Bengal CM for splitting Bengal into ‘us’ vs ‘them’ and reducing Hindus to second-grade citizens,” he added in the post.

Voting in the 42 parliamentary constituencies in West Bengal is scheduled for April 19, April 26, May 4, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. Vote counting is set for June 4.

Across most constituencies in the state, the primary contest is between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the main opposition party, the BJP.

Despite being part of the INDIA bloc, the TMC does not have a seat-sharing agreement with other parties in the alliance, such as Congress and the Left parties in the state.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the TMC secured 34 seats in the state, while the BJP only managed to win 2 seats. The CPI (M) clinched 2 seats, whereas the Congress secured 4.

Nonetheless, the BJP significantly enhanced its performance in the 2019 polls, securing 18 seats compared to the TMC’s 22. The Congress’s tally plummeted to just 2 seats, while the Left failed to secure any seats.

</excerpt>

On Friday, BJP leaders slammed National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah’s recorded discussion with a reporter in which the J&K leader asked the female journalist when she would marry. Making an assault on the INDIA bloc since Farooq Abdullah is a seasoned leader of the opposition coalition, BJP’s Amit Malviya remarked in the video that the former J&K CM was at his disgusting best.

“The reporter is perhaps his granddaughter’s age or younger. But that doesn’t stop him from asking uncomfortable questions like when will you get married? Did you choose your husband? Will your parents choose your husband or you? Why is this (Mehndi) on your hands?” Amit Malviya tweeted along with the video.

Farooq Abdullah inquired on a lighter note whether the marriage would endure or whether the wife would depart as the woman revealed that the mehndi was for her brother’s wedding.

The interaction, according to BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla, was not only unprofessional but also terribly misogynistic and repulsive.

“But not surprising from an alliance that boycotts journalists who ask questions & treats them like this,” Poonawalla said connecting this with the INDIA bloc’s boycott call of a group of journalists.

The INDIA bloc on Thursday unveiled a list of 14 television journalists who will be boycotted by the INDIA leaders. Aditi Tyagi, Aman Chopra, Amish Devgan, Anand Narasimhan, Arnab Goswami, Ashok Shrivastav, Chitra Tripathi, Gaurav Sawant, Navika Kumar, Prachi Parashar, Rubika Liaquat, Shiv Aroor, Sudhir Chaudhary, and Sushant Sinha are among the names on the list.

“Will the loudmouth pravaktas of INDI alliance & especially Congress now defend this creepy behaviour with a young woman in full public view? At the very least they must boycott this serial , obnoxious womaniser,” Poonawalla tweeted.

Farooq Abdullah paid a visit to the home of DSP Humayun Bhat, who was killed in the Anantnag firefight on Wednesday. Farooq Abdullah remarked of the four bravehearts’ deaths, “I don’t see the end of this (encounters).” We was an encounter today in Rajouri; there are encounters every day in Kashmir. The administration (Centre and J&K) proclaims on a daily basis that militancy (in Kashmir) has ended. “Can you tell me if militancy is over?”

Gandhi will arrive in the violence-torn state of Manipur on Thursday and spend two days meeting with civil society members in Imphal and Churachandpur. This visit comes as the Congress continues to criticise Prime Minister Modi’s inaction on the violence in Manipur.

As some BJP supporters questioned why Rahul Gandhi was travelling to Manipur since that he is not even an MP, Congress spokesman Supriya Shrinate responded on Twitter, “What if he is not in any post?
Commenting on Rahul Gandhi’s US visit, Amit Malviya earlier on 18 June posted a video caricaturing Rahul Gandhi being contacted by the international media to ‘break India’. </excerpt>

An FIR was filed on Wednesday at Bengaluru’s High Grounds police station against Bharatiya Janata Party IT cell chief Amit Malviya for his tweets about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, according to news agency ANI.

Amit Malviya, and an FIR was registered under sections 153A, 120b, 505(2), and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Amit Malviya recently shared a video of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the United States, accusing him of playing an ‘insidious game.’

Amit Malviya recently shared a video about Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the United States, accusing him of playing an “insidious game.”

“Rahul Gandhi is dangerous and playing an insidious game. More dangerous are people who are pulling strings of Raga like Sam P, staunchly anti-India, they leave no stone unturned to defame India overseas, just to embarrass PM Modi”, Malviya said in a tweet as per the FIR.

Meanwhile, Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge stated that the case was filed after consulting with a lawyer. “Whenever they are asked to face the law, the BJP always cries,” he said.

They are having difficulty following the law of the land. I’d like to ask the party which part of the FIR was filed with malicious intent. We did it after seeking legal counsel, and if they believe it was done with malice, they can sue us.”

In response to Priyank Kharge, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya stated that the case is politically motivated and that they will seek justice in court.

“The FIR filed against Sri @amitmalviya is politically motivated,” he tweeted. Simple as that. For his alleged statement against Rahul Gandhi, a case has been filed under Sections 153A and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code. Both of the preceding sections are concerned with fostering animosity between groups. So, who exactly is Rahul Gandhi? A person, a group, or a class. We will fight this in court to ensure justice.”

</excerpt>

Police apprehended several Karnataka Rakshana Vedike workers in Bengaluru during a protest against Amul’s entry into the state.
Workers from the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike protested by burning Amul products. Amul recently announced plans to sell dairy goods in Bengaluru, which enraged the opposition Congress and JD(U).

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai who is in the national capital called out Congress and JD(S) for doing politics over the Amul issue at the elections.
“Nandini is a very good brand of our State…Congress and JD(S) doing politics at the time of elections,” said Bommai.

Earlier in the day, Congress Karnataka chief D K Shivakumar visited a Nandini Milk parlour in the Hassan amid the ongoing charges and counter-charges between the ruling BJP and the Opposition Congress and JD(S) over Amul’s announcement of foraying into the Karnataka market.Shivakumar expressed support for Karnataka’s homegrown milk brand Nandini, which he claimed is better that that of the Gujarat-based dairy cooperative Amul.
He was seen buying and consuming Nandini products.

“We already have Nandini which is a better brand than Amul…We don’t need any Amul…our water, our milk, and our soil is strong,” Shivakumar.
“In Karnataka, it’s a question of our farmer’s rights. More than 70 lakh farmers produce milk and give it to Nandini. Gujarat’s Amul is also by farmers. But it’s not right to push Amul forward and Nandini back. Their (BJP) government has not provided any help to farmers. We have to save our product and our farmers,” Shivakumar said.
The Congress leader said that the ruling BJP government had “raised the prices of all dairy products and they haven’t done any help to farmers. In between, we are in the situation where we can’t sell milk.”

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) had hit out at the Congress for running a “misinformation campaign.”
BJP state general secretary Ravi Kumar stated that Nandini is on the number two position in India ever since BJP came to power in Karnataka.

“Nandini is on the number two position in the whole country, so in the coming days, we will also export to different countries, this is our idea. Nandini products are supplied in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Nandini’s milk is also used to make laddoos in Tirupati temple,” added Ravi Kumar.

BJP leader Amit Malviya had on Sunday tweeted, “There is a reason why India doesn’t TRUST Congress. They LIE! Latest being the misinformation campaign that Karnataka Milk Federation, which owns Nandini, is going to merge with Amul. Here are the facts – BJP has done far more to strengthen KMF and make Nandini a global brand,” tweeted BJP leader Amit Malviya.

“KMF is the nation’s second-largest milk cooperative – KMF has depots in Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. 15 per cent of KMF’s total sales is outside Karnataka – Nandini is exported to Singapore, UAE and many other countries – Amul and KMF are NOT merging,” tweeted Malviya.

“Under the BJP, Karnataka is a milk surplus state. Dairy farmers are doing very well. – Congress, which is shedding crocodile tears for brand Nandini, opposed the anti-cow slaughter bill, approved of our nandinis being slaughtered – BJP plans to make Nandini a bigger brand,” he added.

On social media, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya came under fire for saying that Congressman Rahul Gandhi did aarti anti- clockwise while visiting a well-known Shiva temple in Madhya Pradesh. Gandhi was seen in a 4-second video by Malviya, who said that Gandhi would not have been “making a spectacle of himself in public” if he had known that “aarti is done clockwise.”

If only “chunavi Hindu” Rahul Gandhi knew that aarti is done clockwise and there is a scientific reason for it (earth moves in clockwise direction and hence environmental frequencies are in sync with movement), he would not be making a spectacle of himself in public like this…” Malviya tweeted.

Although it appeared anti-clockwise to Malviya, social media users pointed out that Rahul Gandhi was actually doing the aarti in a clockwise motion.

“If only Amit Malviya knew that that his left is Rahul’s right, he wouldn’t have had to face a self embarrassment(sic),” a user replied.

Another user shared a graphic showing ‘clockwise’ and ‘anti-clockwise’ and said, “hope this helps you for future endeavours!”

“My 3.5 years kid knows better,” one wrote, “Delete your account and take political sanyas, if you don’t know this, what will you know about governance?”

Renuka Chowdhury, a Congress leader, even posted a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi reciting an aarti while Rahul Gandhi was watching.

“Why don’t you tell the same to Modi?” she wrote.

Some readers disagreed with Malviya’s assertion that the Earth rotates “clockwise,” noting that the direction of rotation and revolution depend on the viewpoint. When seen from the northern polar star Polaris, the Earth rotates counterclockwise.

Opposition leaders have criticised Union Minister Smriti Irani for posting an image of the former Congress leader upside down.
