Gadar 2: overtakes ‘Baahubali 2’ and becomes second-highest grossing Hindi film

Gadar 2, a recently released movie starring Sunny Deol, has dominated the box office, earning a staggering Rs 515.03 crore in just over a month.

The movie has overtaken the lifetime earnings of the Hindi-language version of “Baahubali 2,” which stars Prabhas, and is now the second-highest-grossing Hindi movie. On Monday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh published a message on Instagram concerning the box office receipts.

‘Gadar 2’, directed by Anil Sharma, is a continuation of the popular movie that debuted in theatres in 2001. The movie, which takes place during the 1947 Indian Partition, stars Sunny Deol as the truck driver Tara and Ameesha Patel as Sakina.

‘Gadar 2’ Enters Rs 500 Crore Club

The craze among the fans for Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer ‘Gadar 2’ doesn’t seem to end soon.

The film has now achieved another milestone as it has now entered Rs 500 crore club.
On Sunday, the film minted Rs 7.80 crores which took the film’s total collection to Rs 501.17 crores.

Taking to Instagram, trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared a post and wrote, “#Gadar2 continues to dominate in mass pockets… Will be interesting to see how it performs in the heartland / #Hindi belt once #Jawan arrives [on Thu]… [Week 4] Fri 5.20 cr, Sat 5.72 cr, Sun 7.80 cr. With this ‘Gadar 2’ has become the third film to cross the Rs 500 crore margin after ‘Baahubali 2’ and ‘Pathaan’.

Helmed by Anil Sharma the film also starred Utkarsh Sharma and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles.

‘Gadar 2’ minted Rs 40 crore on its opening day in theatres, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh. It became the second-best opener of 2023 after Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’.
‘Gadar 2′ is a sequel to the hit film which was released in theatres in 2001. In the film, Sunny Deol played the role of Tara, a truck driver, while Ameesha Patel played Sakina in the film that was set during the partition of India in 1947.

Recently the makers of ‘Gadar 2’ hoisted a grand success party in Mumbai where several big actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Varun Dhawan, Dharmendra, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani and Shilpa Shetty among others marked their presence.

Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel shared that when Gadar 2 was under production, many people had questioned whether people would go watch the film.

In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the actress revealed that many people had doubts and questioned whether people will go to theatres to watch Gadar 2. Ameesha said, “When Gadar 2 was under production, many people had written off Gadar 2 just like they did during the release of Gadar 1. There’s too much similarity that happens I think when it comes to the brand Gadar. And many questioned, ‘Will people go?”

The actress said some people told her she shouldn’t expect Gadar 2 to work as well as Gadar did. “This was said by people within the industry and outside it. Even friends and family told me this. I know that a lot of people had doubts and stuff.”

‘Gadar 2’ is running with houseful boards on single screens across the country, and has been creating history at the box office with each passing day despite facing a clash with Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’.

Interestingly, the film also became the highest Independence Day Bollywood grosser as it collected Rs 55.40 crore on August 15.

Gadar 2 Event: Sunny Deol Breaks Down In Tears

The trailer of Gadar 2 was released on Wednesday, July 27. At the launch event, Sunny Deol got emotional when Ameesha Patel wiped his tears and even gave him a warm hug. The video was shared by popular Bollywood paparazzi Viral Bhayani on Instagram.

Reacting to the viral video, one of the Instagram users wrote, “bonding.” Another wrote, “So Sweet. Tara Sakina jodi is toooo cute. Ameesha is looking gorgeous as ever!! Sunny Deol looks the best with her. Can’t wait to watch them in Gadar 2.” A third user wrote, “So cute they are in traditional dress.” Many users also called them “hit jodi.”

Apart from Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the event was also attended by Utkarsh Sharma, Shariq Patel, Mithoon, Simrat Kaur, Alka Yagnik, Jubin Nautiyal, and Aditya Narayan. Director Anil Sharma was also present.

For those unaware, the film was announced in October 2021 and is the official remake of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha which was released in 2001. It was set up in post-partition India and depicted the love story of a Muslim girl named Sakeena with an Indian Sikh boy Tara Singh. Gadar 2 will hit theatres on August 11, 2023.

‘Gadar 2’: New Motion Poster Unveiled

Makers of the upcoming action drama film ‘Gadar 2’ on Friday unveiled a new motion poster featuring Sunny Deol and Utkarsh Sharma.

Taking to Instagram, production house Zee Studios dropped the poster which they captioned, “Apne desh aur parivaar ki raksha ke liye, har chunauti ka samna karne ke liye taiyaar hai Tara Singh!. #Gadar2 aa rahi hai bade parde par lagane iss Independence Day! Cinemas mein 11th August se.”

Apart from Sunny Deol’s iconic dialogue ‘Hindustan Zindabad’, the motion poster sees his on-screen lovable chemistry with his son Utkarsh Sharma, who is seen sporting a rugged, bearded look as they hold hands and are on the run, amidst gunfire and explosion!

Veteran actor Nana Patekar has lent his voice to Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer upcoming period action film ‘Gadar 2’. Taking to Instagram, trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the updates on Monday.

He wrote, “#Xclusiv… NANA PATEKAR DOES VOICEOVER FOR ‘GADAR 2’… #NanaPatekar has lent his voice for #Gadar2… #Nana’s voiceover will introduce #Gadar2 to the moviegoers at the very start of the film. Recently the makers released the first song ‘Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava’ from the movie.

The original song was sung by music maestros Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, the new version of the song is recreated and rearranged by Mithoon. ‘Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava’ was originally composed by Uttam Singh and the lyrics were penned by Anand Bakshi.

The new version is a part of ‘Gadar 2’, which will hit the theatres on ‘August 11’.

Warrant issued against Ameesha Patel in Rs 2.5 cr Fraud Case

Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel has been accused of not repaying Rs 2.5 crores. For the unversed, the actress often takes the internet by storm with her sexy bikini photos.
Ajay Kumar Singh, a film producer registered a case of fraud, intimidation, and cheque bounce against the actress and her partner. A report in India Today revealed that the actress has been booked under sections 420 and 120 of the CrPC after she did not appear before the court despite multiple summons.

Ajay Kumar Singh alleged that the actress and her business partner took Rs 2.5 crores from him for the making of the film Desi Magic. Ajay added the actress and her business partner had said that they would “return the money along with interest, but it was never released.” Further, the report claims that when the filmmaker asked the actress to return his money, she refused. After a lot of delays, Ameesha gave him two cheques of Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 50 lakh in October 2018, which bounced.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Amessha made her debut with the super hit film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. The actress will next be seen in Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2 with Sunny Deol. The romantic period drama is ready to hit the theatres on August 11, 2023.

Actor Ameesha Patel charged with cheating, criminal breach of trust, SC stays proceedings

In connection with summonses issued by a trial court in Jharkhand, the Supreme Court has delayed criminal proceedings for the offences of cheating and criminal breach of trust against Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel. In response to the actor’s appeal, a panel of Justices B R Gavai and P S Narasimha sent the Jharkhand government a notice.

The top court did order that cases involving violations of Section 138 (cheque bounce) of the Negotiable Instruments Act be handled legally. The Indian Penal Code, 1860 states, “Issue notice only with regard to offences punishable under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating). The proceedings under Sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code shall be suspended pending further orders.

“We, however, clarify that the proceedings, insofar as offences punishable under Section 138 (cheque bounce) of the Negotiable Instruments Act are concerned, shall be proceeded in accordance with the law,” the bench said.

The top court’s decision was reached after Ameesha appealed the Jharkhand High Court’s dismissal of her request for the quashing and setting aside of an order made by a trial court in Ranchi in connection with a complaint against her on May 5, 2022.

Ajay Kumar Singh, a producer, had filed a complaint, and the court had taken cognizance of the offences under Sections 406, 420, 34, and 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act and Section 406 of the Indian Penal Code. In order to produce the film Desi Magic, Ajay allegedly transferred Rs. 2.5 crore to the actor’s bank account. However, Ameesha didn’t finish the movie as promised and didn’t give the money back either. According to the high court, it appears at first glance that each of the accused parties is responsible for paying back the amount in question.
